Great low power CPU
Pros: Very low power (35W TDP), runs very cool. Conroe based.
Cons: No Speedstep (as it is a Celeron)
Other Thoughts: If they had put Speedstep in these CPUs, the power utilization would be even lower! But such is the life of a lowly Celeron CPU

Pros: Low price.
Cons: Significantly slower than a Core2 Duo. However, it is also significantly cheaper, and you get what you pay for. If price is a big issue, it's probably worth it.

No AMD
Pros: Cheap Price
Cons: Poor design of heatsink and fan. Had to use my older cooler master hs / fan. Couldn't get plastic clips to lock into place. The older cooler master used 4 screws to lock into place. For the money, look at an AMD 64 or dual core Athlon.
Other Thoughts: It is a shame AMD is doing so poorly in the market. For the lower end builders, AMD is the best.

Great CPU
Pros: Great CPU for singular task processing. Works extremely well with high RAM and low tasks. Good for gaming or normal multi-window activity.
Cons: Has some issues with running games and window activities at the same time. (Such as Dual-monitor overlay).
Other Thoughts: Other than that, no problems whatsoever.

Conroe-L
Pros: Cheap. Lower power usage. Low heat output. Great for my application, which is: A silent machine for audio (mp3 and flac) playback that I can put in my stereo shelf.
Cons: Slow compared to almost any modern CPU.

Troubleshooting CPU
Pros: Any 775 motherboard will recognize this CPU. I used it when my MB went on vacation. After reseting the BIOS the MB would not boot with a E8400. I got this CPU and I was able to boot right up update the BIOS and reinstall the Wolfy. Overall performance seemed good for what it is. I was able to do everything a normal person would with this CPU.
Cons: NONE

Stabkle adn fast enough
Pros: Runs fast for my server and cool. No OC here. VERY stable. Good price!
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Using it in a WHS server with 3Gb ram and a Asus Server MB. Has proven speedy and reliable for it's use

Great Cheap 775 Processor
Pros: Bought because my previous socket 478 mobo died, and I had to rebuild a Raid 0 (not backed up... oops) in a hurry. Paired with a Gigabyte P35-D23L, it fired right up and is maintaining a temp of around 33C on the stock HS/Fan while overclocked to 140% (2.24GHz).
Cons: For the price. None.
Other Thoughts: Great little processor to use in a pinch or if you want to try out overclocking with less money at risk. This will likely become the brains of an HTPC, or internet machine when I upgrade in a couple months. Going to see if I can safely get it to 3.0GHz before then.

Great for the Wait
Pros: Awesome Single core processor. I bought it for the sole purpose of holding me off until Intel decides to re-release the Q9450, as no one has this CPU.
Cons: It is single core, I can't multi-task for the life of me. Example, Playing EVE I cannot voice chat with my friends.
Other Thoughts: Awesome little overclocker! Running mine at 2.7 GHz with a FSB of 1333 with some DDR3 ram. Very nice.

Pros: Price, 512K L2 Cache for this price point Celeron.
Cons: None so far, but for under $45 what do you want?
Other Thoughts: Single core. If your only using it for a basic workstation this is all you would need. Save you money and get more RAM memory.

Excellent for HTPC
Pros: 8 watt consumption at idle/HALT! 35 watt TDP! That is simply amazing. Finally, a CPU you can stick in a tiny case with poor airflow and a slowed cooling fan that works *without* issue.
Cons: Not dual core so consider the Celeron e1200.
Other Thoughts: Amazing bang for the buck. It's time to upgrade from the older Celeron D and Pentium 4 CPUs that can heat a small room. Note that the Celeron 430 and 440 have higher power consumption at idle/HALT according to Wikipedia.

Single Core on a Conroe = ALL GOOD
Pros: this replaced a AM@ beta test machine CPU..i am very impressed....surfing, word docs, etc rips right through them. this cpu is OBVIOUSLY not made for gaming, video rendering etc, HOWEVER this CPU could easily continue to find a market with LO FI budget machines, for any and all basic pc needs. I expected MUCH LESS. INTEL is really on the ball
Cons: word on the street is ALL SINGLE CORES are on the way out, for $40-$50 for a decent CPU is a bargain, unless this gets replaced by a cheaper or as cheap DC cpu then this will be missed when gone.
Other Thoughts: I literally made a decision to buy this CPU almost solely on price alone, other than loading this and that i dont have much planned for this CPU...i expected very LOW performance and recieved decent output, $40 well spent i say

Nice cheap Core 2 processor with good OC potential
Pros: The little processor that could! For those like me waiting on the release of the Q9450, but needing an interim processor, the Celeron 420 is a good choice. The stock clock of 1.6 is on the low side, but it runs at 2.6 ghz all day long at 24°C without any problems. Does 64-bit processing, so you can run 64-bit OS and apps. $40ish for a processor that will run Sins of a Solar Empire at 1920x1200 on a 8800GT with the options maxed out... real good deal.
Cons: Single-core

FPS
Pros: This processor kicks out my old P4 2.93 GHz. The P4 only had a FSB of 133. and this celeron has a 800 FSB. The P4 had my fps for wow at 75fps locked. This celeron puts it a whooping 250fps. FSB does matter people.
Cons: What is that?
Other Thoughts: I love you newegg. :D

More than I expected
Pros: Easily overclocks to 3.0Ghz on a good board at 1.3V. Plays Crysis on all high settings at 1680x1050 and remains cool. If you are on a budget and don't need to multi-task this is your chip.
Cons: At this price, none. I'm blown away by how this chip performs in games, office apps and internet browsing.
Other Thoughts: My E6750 went sour on me and I needed to pick something up to hold me over. Set to 3.0Ghz I don't notice much of a difference in games between the two CPUs, which is saying a lot. Rig it's in: MSI P35 Platinum, 4GB DDR2 1066, HD2900XT.

FANTASTIC!
Pros: I purchased this CPU to check out my Gigabyte G-33 MB and to familiarize myself with the latest Intel technology, not expecting very much and without much to lose if I fried it while playing with overclocking.
I’ve never been so pleasantly surprised; with a minimum of fuss, overclocked to 3 Ghz and yielded super pi of 22 seconds! I had to lower the multiplier of my DDR2-800 memory to 3X to get things to run at a clock speed of 375 Mhz. I had never before been able to bust 30 seconds with AMD’s best single core socket 939 CPUs.
All this with Intel’s marvelously designed HSF using the factory applied thermal goop. Idles at ~30º C and runs at ~50º C while running P95. That’s with the motherboard’s built in temperature sensor; a sensor that measures transistor junction temperature reads ~50º idling and ~75º under full load; the not to exceed limit for Tj is 100º C.
Those who complain of high temperatures most likely don’t have the HSF properly seated.
Cons: The name “Celeron.” Equal to Ford bringing out a state of the art automobile powered by fuel cells and naming it Edsel.
I have nothing but bad memories of toasty and excruciatingly slow Celerons.
Other Thoughts: As a previous poster alluded, this CPU running at default settings will satisfy the needs of 95% of computer users; the difference in capability between this and top of the line CPUs will not be evident in mundane computer usage.
The game freaks will certainly need more onchip memory.

Good/Cheap checkout processor
Pros: Great low-cost processor for use in the checkout of ASUS boards. BIOS, memory, videocards, and OS. Allowed build concept to be proven before adding high-end ($1K) processor.
Cons: none really .. keep expectations reasonable and you get exactly what you pay for.
Other Thoughts: ASUS P5N32E-SLI, 4 x 2G Corsair DDR2-800, EVGA 9600GT, Vista Ultimate x64

Runs, but will never finish a speed contest
Pros: just enough for internet explorer, windows mail, and solitare
***SAVE YOUR MONEY***
Cons: not enough for anything else
***SAVE YOUR MONEY***
Other Thoughts: If you've owned or used a powerful processor, using the celeron 420 is going to be a painful experience. When I got the processor I decided to do a fresh install of my Vista OS, the install took 3x along as with an Intel Q6600 and installing downloads from Windows Update took over 4.5 hours, with the Q6600 it would only take 40 minutes. Everything about this processor takes much longer even transferring files between hard drives. Not even worth forty-five or so dollars just to save a little energy. May be worth twenty dollars or so, but not even to me.

Best Celeron Yet
Pros: These conroe based celerons are the zippiest celerons ive ever used.Have used 4 of these in customer pc builds now.Im impressed and so are the customers. In my opinion the celeron name hurts them more than anything.Outperforms previous celeron d's with 3ghz+.
Cons: Absolutely none.Folks these processors are rated at 32 watts tdp which is even lower than the lowest amd sempron le.Intel wins again. If your building a budget pc look no further.
Other Thoughts: If your building a gaming rig don't waste your time with the 420.Spend the extra 50 bux and get something better.

Eco-Friendly
Pros: Low-wattage. I wanted something efficient for home use. This does the trick. It's running Ubuntu 7.10 without any hitches. Fast enough for the users in my house - web surfing, email, light photo processing, word processing, cd/dvd burning, etc.
Cons: Cooling fan makes a slight wining noise. Not a big deal, but I will buy another, quieter/higher-quality heatsink/fan combo at some point.
Other Thoughts: Can't beat the price for a basic system chip. Sure beats my old P3, that's for sure!

Good for the price
Pros: cheap, low power, runs cool, easily get pass 333 Mhz (1333FBS)
Cons: single core(of course), no HT
Other Thoughts: got this along with a gigabytes P31-S3G, now it runs @300mhz*8=2.4ghz without any issue with stock cooling. it can be pushed higher if memory is better ( 1GB standard 800 Mhz ddr2 X 2 )

Why would you buy this???
Pros: NONE, single core processing is dinosaur technology.
Cons: It's a celeron, nothing but ancient history and is of no use these days
Other Thoughts: Buying this at xx is a complete waste of money, not even benefitial for medial tasks

Boots, fairly low power
Pros: Cheap. Conroe-L core much less power consumption than Prescott or Cedar Mill.
Cons: No EIST, which means that idle power is a smidgen higher than say, the E2140. Only single-core, if you care. (If you really want dual-core, get the E1200 for only $15 more. (The E1200 also has EIST.)
Other Thoughts: If all you need is something that boots, this processor will fill the bill just fine. Mine went into a server whose only purpose in life is streaming DVD's... not an application that requires anything but the bare minimum of processors.
I did have to update my motherboard BIOS to get it to POST... make sure your motherboard supports Conroe-L before purchasing.

Overclocker's paradise
Pros: My chip overclocks at normal voltage to 3.0 Ghz on Gigabyte's GA-P31-DS3L ver. 1.0 (which is similar to GA-P31-S3G sold here on Newegg), but with 4 memory slots. It overclocks to higher speeds easily with higher voltage. Runs super cool (room temps at 3.0 Ghz with stock Intel fan running quietly, but not quite silently) using Gigabyte's voltage control in the BIOS to control the speed of the fan.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: To get the best overclocks, use a P31 or P35-based motherboard. I used to swear by Asus, but have had some bad luck since their restructuring. Asus bought Gigabyte, and I have had great success with their MBs.

Proceesor that could
Pros: PRICE PRICE PRICE For a singlecoreto do what it does is amazing, and for less then 50 bucks?!! Runs Vista Ultimate OK, which considering that you are supposed to be using at minimum a dual core speaks for itself. Running it at 1066 very stable for gen purpose home use. The kids torture this processor, and it stays cool.
Cons: Could be a Quad Core for this price
Other Thoughts: For a Conroe based processor with a single core, this processor can score a solid 4.5 Vista score. How does it do this!!! Does bump to max out on DVD or multi task, but doesn't drop a frame, or skip a beat!

This CPU is a GREAT DEAL!
Pros: Fast for it's specifications and runs very cool (~28C). Fair price.
Cons: Wish the core speed was a bit faster. My particular CPU didn't like overclocking.
Other Thoughts: I was pleasantly surprised with this CPU. I have a P4 3.0Ghz I bought a couple years ago, and this Celeron blew it away in several performance tests.

Processor for the Greater 95% of the population
Pros: This thing impresses me over and over again. i have built over 30 of these machines. I built a quad core system about 2 weeks ago for a guy... This 1.6 Celeron is the same SPEED, Boot up, Internet, Application Loading, etc etc
Cons: if you bought anything more then this you got conned out of your money. (if you are with in the 95% General computer using population) Most computer users will love this CPU man its Fast!!
Other Thoughts: the e4500 is a great processor for the rest of us the upper 5% that like to hardcore compute. In Regards to the this celeron.. RAM is CHEAP - that ADATA stuff, 2 GB kits for like 40 to 50 bucks Free Shipping... and the MSI Core2Duo Main boards... 50 to 60 bucks... You can have a SCREAMING fast system for LITTLE money with the processor... This CPU with GMA 950 and 2 gb ram Run World Of warcraft at 35 to 40 Frames per second... what more could you want? If you are rich then chances are you are not reading this any how.

Good bang for the buck
Pros: Decent processor for the price. Stable and reasonably fast.
Cons: No dual core.
Other Thoughts: If it had been available when I was putting my system together, I'd have gone for the E1200 dual core Celeron. There's nothing inherently bad about this processor, but for a little more, dual core is more than worth it. Running an Asus P5K-E, 4 GB of PC6400 on Windows Server 2008 (x64).

Great Budget Processor
Pros: I bought this processor because I want to upgrade to a dual-core later and ran out of funds. The difference between these new Conroe-L processors and my old Celeron D are night and day. This one idles around 87 F and gets up to 98 F under load. I've overclocked it to 3.0Ghz and there's almost no temperature change and the system is still super-stable.
Cons: Single core, small cache
Other Thoughts: Awesome value for the price

Runs very cool. Overclocks easily on cheapo ECS mobos
Pros: Very cold running processor. I disconnected the fan for testing and the CPU idles at 30 degrees celsius! I wasn't expecting any overclockability on my cheapo leftover ECS motherboard that I had lying around, but I managed to get a 33% overclock. No voltage changes. Not too shabby!
Cons: I paid for 3 day shipping and now it's free!
Other Thoughts: clock for clock, I'd compare the performance of this chip with an early Pentium M processor. That would benchmark to faster than a 2.4ghz Pentium 4. I have no actual numbers for comparison, but from some normal desktop usage in parallel with utorrent, this chip does not feel slow at all. The windows install and Adobe FEAD decompression was blazingly fast. Good enough for anything except large file/video compression.
Note: The heatsink and fan bundled with this processor is about half the height of the HSFs that come with the C2Ds. I built an extremely cool and quiet computer for my mom. She will be very happy with this processor/computer!

Pros: Cheap. can overclock to 3.0ghz. Runs extremely cool.
Cons: overclocking seems hardware capped at 3.0ghz.
Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU from a Canadian retailer while I wait for E8500 in Jan (was Q9450 before delay). Since all other hardware were bought for E8500 I have an Ultra-120 Extreme at my disposal. At stock the CPU's 1.5x faster than my Pentium4 540 3.2GHz. When overclocked to 3.0GHz it's around 2 to 2.5x faster (measured using SuperPi). Using Ultra 120X I get 32C load at 3.0GHz.
Unfortunately you can't overclock even a tiny bit past 3.0GHz. I had to raise vcore to 1.45 to get it to boot at 3.05GHz (default is 1.30). Even at 3.0GHz though it's still 87.5% overclock, and all this for a $40 CPU.

Two Thumbs Up
Pros: Based on the Conroe-L core so runs very cool: 16c idle and 26c while running prime95. Don't be fooled by the low clock, this processor at 1.6ghz outperforms the celeron d processors although they are clocked higher.Possesses good overclocking capabilities, I have mine at 2.12ghz stable but my cheap mobo was the limiting factor. Has been able to run XP and Ubuntu without any trouble. So overall it is an excellent budget processor for any cheap build.
Cons: The fan-heatsink combo is very flimsy looking, but it keeps the processor cool. There is no hyper-threading capabilities so multitasking may not go too well.

Awesome
Pros: Cheap, fast, low power. What more could you ask for? This chip is just as fast as my P4 2.8GHz with a 533MHz FSB due to the 800MHz FSB and DDR2 667 memory (as opposed to my old DDR 333). If I ever decide to o/c it it'll be significantly faster.
Cons: It would be nice to have a Core 2 sticker on the front of my case instead of a Celeron (yep, that's all I could come up with, this thing is awesome).
Other Thoughts: If you don't care about power consumption I would probably get a Pentium D or at least the Cedar Mill 2.8/3.2GHz. Both those chips are still pretty cheap and should be faster, but they use a lot more power. It would probably be faster with 800MHz memory, but my board doesn't support it. This chip was running around 110F while installing the O/S (almost full load), I might look into overclocking it (with a good cooler this thing could really fly).

Its OK
Pros: It works as expected, slightly faster than an overclocked old school socket A athlon. Overclocked very well at 2.2 ghz would have gone to 3.0ghz to get the performance of a 3.0ghz pent-D but the cheap asrock mobo limited me. Very reasonable price.
Cons: I used a left over quad core heatsink since I replaced the stock with after market hsf on a q6600, and it still runs kinda hot for its specs "100f-125f" but I guess thats nothing compared to a 190f+ turion on a not so great everex laptop.
Other Thoughts: If you have an old pc and are considering this a cheap upgrade think again, amd or p4 3000+ is about the equivalent and only if you can overclock this baby past 2.0ghz range however if your looking at this cpu you probably wont be buying a mobo that can take the fsb to far... I had to spend some time trying to figure out a way to squeeze the 2.2ghz that I achieved. 'on intel based chipsets 94--- remember to set the auto chipset voltage to high and pci to synchronous**

Great overclocker
Pros: This is the least expensive LGA775 CPU available. I was able to overclock from the stock 1.6GHz to 3.02GHz using FSB modification only. No changes to vcore, using the stock air cooler. Temps up to but not exceeding 40c under full load in Prime95. Completely stable at this speed.
Cons: None, other than it's a single-core CPU.
Other Thoughts: Great value for the money.

Can't beat this CPU for the money...
Pros: This CPU replaced my Socket 478 2.26 Ghz Pentium 4, and it completely destroys it in every way. This is an excellent replacement for any last gen P4 or Celeron, and you can't beat the price. I intend to use this until I can afford a better CPU, and this one is perfect.
Cons: The LGA 775 CPU package gave me some problems with the heat sink. The board had to be physically bent to allow the heatsink to be properly installed.
Other Thoughts: The reality is that you could spend more on a faster CPU, but you don't have to. MAKE SURE you buy 800 Mhz RAM to keep up with this CPU and you'll squeeze the best possible performance out of this CPU. (Short of overclocking it, of course)

good cpu
Pros: cheap faster than pentinum 4 of the same clock speed. I am very happy with this cpu. 25 degrees C under full load. i am running a water cooling system because eventually i want to upgrade to a core2 quad.
Cons: i did not know that my motherboard msi p35 would not support the original cpu i bought (celeron d 336) that made me angry. so i bought this.
Other Thoughts: config. watercooled celeron conroe l 2gb of mix and match ram. 80gb hard drive. ati radeion x1650 dual psu.

Very Nice Processor
Pros: Best single core architecture currently avaliable and priced at $38. Upgraded my fiancee from a SMP Atholon MP 1900+ to this. This single core is faster, and uses 100 watts less power.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I was considering this chip vs an equally priced AMD chip. In terms of price/performance/energy efficiency this processor beats anything AMD has in its price range.

perfect so far
Pros: Inexpensive and works as advertised.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I'm using this chip in a home brew NAS. The chip seems a great fit for this. Inexpensive, but plenty of horsepower for the FreeNAS OS I'm running. With an LSI MegaRAID card handling all the disk I/O the chip is yet to get much over 50% - 60% percent utilization. The chip also has the benefit of only pulling about half the watts of many other processors- a big plus in a NAS with 6 SATA drives pulling power and generating heat. Since I'm using the chip in a NAS I can't speak to its performance for other scenarios, but it is working great for me.

Good, cheap CPU
Pros: Cheap. At 1.6GHz, it seems to be almost as fast as my old 3.0GHz P4 with HT. Runs very cool and I like the idea that I am not burning that much electricity with it on.
Cons: None, considering how little it cost!
Other Thoughts: Using it mostly as a HTPC rig. Sometimes the video will glitch a little while watching a movie. I need to investigate what it causing that, probably Windows updating or something.
I wish I could OC it, but alas the bare bones Asus rig it is in doesn't support overclocking.

Pros: cool running yet powerful processor
Cons: No SpeedStep capability, no PWM fan.
Other Thoughts: < 35W single core socket 775 processor with plenty of power to decode an HDTV stream in MythTV without any help from the graphics card. Bundled HSF does not have a PWM fan and is somewhat noisy.

Pros: Runs everything I can throw at it with ease.
Cons: It runs a bit hot, but that's my own fault. I was careless and wiped a bit of the thermal grease off on my finger.

Pros: i was so surprised! i knew this cpu was gonna be a good proc to upgrade from but can not believe how good it is! a lot faster than any AMD single core by far! i liked AMD but have to say, AMD bye bye, hello Intel!
Cons: none what so ever!

Runs cooler than Celeron-D
Pros: Great for the price. Bought to repace a Celeron D in a Home Theater PC. Runs faster, cooler, and does all I need it too. I use the PC for DVD, Internet, and other basic stuff on a big screen.
Cons: Wouldn't buy for video capture or gaming or anything more serious. Single core, but you gotta know that going in.
Other Thoughts: Sweet price and steped my system up to the new Intel CPU architecture.

great for the price
Pros: price, low temps and wattage, does what I want without any issues.
Cons: maybe the HS. (see below)
Other Thoughts: I bought this for a customer for an E-mail computer but wanted to make sure they could upgrade latter so I bought the cheapest intel 775 socket I could find on Newegg (you rock!) and I could not be happier, could not get this to go over 31 deg at full load with the stock HS, I'm not a big fan of the pins to hold the hs but it went in first time, the fan is a little loud but not so bad (would be an issue in a library!) I'm not overclocking this and it will not see heavy use but for this price who cares!

WOW
Pros: Cheap, Core Archictecture, Fan isn't loud running @ 100% (Crunching seti/cpdn 24/7), feels exponentially faster than the pd805 it's replaced.
Cons: the chip wasnt on the market when i bought my pd805, this thing is less than a tank of gas.
Other Thoughts: ordered on black friday, in my hands tuesday. newegg rocks! who else can give you a k1cka$$ budget cpu shipped for under 50 bux all in the midst of black friday..

Best 43 dollars i've ever spent!!!!
Pros: Wow this little thing is a beast for less then $$$50. I mean think of this i bought my c2d e6400 for 220 in march now for 3/16 the price i can get this little bugger. its just awesome i havent overclocked it yet but its the best budget computer EVER.
Cons: None, its not a quad core processor but thats why its <$50.
Other Thoughts: Asus p5b, 2gb corsiar pc5300, rosewill 500 watt psu, saphire 1550x, 30 gb old ide hd, celeron 420, that is my little server computer that runs source for me, Its just a sick server holds 30 peeps n/p

Very nice budget processor
Pros: Put this in a budget system for a friend of mine and it's great. Basically this is half of a Core 2 Duo, so it's very snappy in everyday tasks.
Cons: Heatsink that comes with it is freaking tiny. I guess a large HSF isn't necessary because this processor puts off such a small amount of heat.
Other Thoughts: Shipped quickly

i love this cpu
Pros: This processor has many awesome aspects first Price, Second 32x32 L1 cache, Third 800 mhz FSB, Fourth low low power consumption, Fifth this processor is very fast.
Cons: The processor only Dogs down when you are using handbreak or video/sound rendering. other then that you will never know its only 1.6ghz or a celeron. It will feel just like any of the various conroe core2's you can buy.
Other Thoughts: A very respectful processor at a very respectful price... another bonus is free shipping!

Makes a great Budget MAC
Pros: Ok this is a great processor! I will tell you why. One the Price is outstanding for what you get and again i will tell you why. First off you get a 3 Year warranty ( very cool! ). Second you get a Heatsink and Fan that were engineered and designed and thermally tested to keep your processor running cool and stable. Third the CPU its self, Don't let the 512K cache scare you off, also don't let the 1.6 ghz scare you ether. Because this processor is the only Single Core Processor intel sells now that by default makes it a Celeron. I like to refer to this processor as a Intel Single Core Conroe, And its the truth, This thing Screams...
Cons: 480p ( Yes ) 720p ( yes ) 1080p ( Not Really but sort of ) if you go and check out HD trailers over at apples site you can get 3 different kinds of HD 1080 plays but its kinda jittery. But how many you of you have a 1900 x 1200 1080p SCREEN? * really now * haha so dont get all wrapped up in the fact you cant play some useless ULTRA high Resolution that you cant really fully see any ways...
Other Thoughts: And if you have a 1900x1200 Screen then why are you buying this processor cheap-o!!! get a core2 4500, i guess they now support VT... Well that is what they say may not be true but is a great deal anyways!

Faster than the Celeron title
Pros: Cheap price, excellent benchmarks, excellent overclocking
Cons: Single core, low stock speed, harder to remove from motherboard than AM2 processors when you want to upgrade.
Other Thoughts: Running overclocked much faster than its stock rating and getting a Vista processor rating of 4.7 Benchmarked much faster than a similarly priced Sempron 3400. In SuperPi 1M test it was 29 seconds vs the Sempron at 50seconds. If you don't need dual core it is a wonderful processor.

Don't be fooled by this celeron
Pros: This celeron kicks. With no overclocking, I have plenty of power for Visual C# programming, DVD burning, media viewing, and internet browsing. With 1 GB of ddr2 667 Mhz dual channel ram, you can build a perfect development system for very cheap.
Cons: None, except the gigabyte board I bought had smart fan enabled out of the box. I installed the processor and H/S and started the computer. The fan kicked off after 10 seconds. For some reason I removed the 12V power molex, and it would stay on, but then no boot or video. Even though I was very worried, I let the system run without a fan until I got to the bios and discovered that this was normal and set the smart fan to always on. That ruined the 35W power rating for this chip, but it makes me feel better. I build a desktop, not a laptop and I likes my fans on.
Other Thoughts: A very capable CPU. Even if you aren't on a budget, consider this. A 800Mhz fsb celeron? that's almost unheard of. You can spend the extra money on more hardware. That would be better than wasting money on electric for a processer that creates hot air most of the time. Still no cache on these, but that just means video encoding will take longer. so what.

Man I love this little guy
Pros: Price to performance ratio is super nice, this cpu is quick even at its low clock speed compared to the old netburst celerons.
Cons: I'm not really complaining about it, but more L2 cache is always nice.
Other Thoughts: This cpu totally surprised me. It's quite fast in Vista, something the P-D 805 it was replacing was a bit sluggish in. Its really nice for a server type system or second system for the price.

Not bad at all for a Celeron..
Pros: This Celeron outperforms my old Intel P4 2.4GHz by quite a wide margin.
Cons: No HT, but that's why it's a Celeron.
Other Thoughts: I purchased the most inexpensive LGA775 processor I could find, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Pros: WOW: where to start.. this baby sits at a whopping 100F full load. (ran orthos for 20 mins) all with stock cooler and thermal paste. very zippy for a 1.6 ghz/CONROE Core
Cons: Not one.
Other Thoughts: Buy it.. you wont be dissapointed one bit!

Amazing processor, OC's like no other!
Pros: Super overclockable; have it currently running at 3.0 Ghz on stock cooling and voltage on my EVGA SLI 680i mobo. GREAT PRICE/VALUE
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: Scored a 4.6 Vista rating with 3.0 Ghz after OC'ing my FSB to 1500 mhz. Running very stable and smooth.
Highly recommended for budget builders; as for me, it will hold me well until I get a Yorkfield in Jan!

Pros: Great processor, really impressed me with its speed compared to older Celerons. I came on to the newer Celerons with a laptop that I purchased, and was extremely impressed with the performance. Great for budget systems!

Works
Pros: Price. Running at stock, CPU cooling is quiet. Good quality heat sink/fan.
Cons: None. One could say it's not fast, and its only single core, but thats the trade offs for this price point. If you're primarily doing single threaded stuff, this'll work just as well.
Other Thoughts: A great stepping stone processor. If you want to upgrade to a quad core or something later (perhaps when more $ is available), this chip could get you buy for the interim.

Great Processor
Pros: Comes in at 1.6GHz stock but EASILY does 3.2GHz with the right motherboard and cooling. For my NAS rig, I kept this at 0.86v at stock and it ran at ambient temperatures! 21c! Amazingly cool chip. It gets ~16k /w 6800GT in 3dmark2001 and @ 3.2GHz it gets 25k. Not bad at all for a $42 processor. I have a GA-P35-DS3L and it works great. It runs faster and cooler than my old Pentium-D805 which was dual core as well. The new Architecture is so much better.
Cons: No downward multipliers.
Other Thoughts: You want this for 2 reasons: a)Low power consumption, runs cool or b)Overclock the hell out it YEH! I go with both!

Best. Celeron. Ever.
Pros: Probably the best cost/performance ratio in the budget class. Extreme over clocking possibilities! That extra-core most of the time just a heater.
Cons: Somewhat not eco-friendly! AMD value chips all have some sort of speed step like function.
Other Thoughts: Multi-core processing is still over hyped with limited application unless you really multi-task. Who uses virtualization anyway?

Very Fast
Pros: Stock 800MHz FSB makes it very fast! - oc'd FSB to 1333MHz FSB and it clocked out at 2.8GHz! - I currently have the FSB at 1000MHz running 2.0GHz and getting a vista score of 4.8!
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: Never got the temp to go over 43C! even at 2.96GHz on stock cooling!

Impressive
Pros: Runs extremely cool. Works perfectly in my fileserver. FSB800 and LGA775. Conroe architecture and SpeedStep... What else could one ask for? The price was awesome too.
Cons: It's only single-core. But that's not too big a deal when it's not running very many CPU intensive tasks. Also, the included heatsink looks a little, um, inadequate. But who knows, I didn't try it. I bought a massive Cooler Master heatsink with a PWM fan. I have no major complaints whatsoever about this proc.
Other Thoughts: I have always absolutely despised Celerons in the past and I was somewhat hesitant to use this, but I must admit, Intel Intel hit the nail right on the head with this "budget" chip. I have always been an AMD guy but I think the Conroe-L blows the Sempron right out of the water.
I'm using it in a Gigabyte GA-945GZM mobo with a gig of DDR2 and couldn't be more satisfied. Give it a try. Intel's making a comeback.

Good little CPU
Pros: Inexpensive, low power usage, enough power for basic computing. Faster than previous generation Celerons
Cons: Not dual core
Other Thoughts: Works like a champ for basic computing. I built my son's computer with one of these processors, and so far he has had no need for more power, it works great.

Happy Camper
Pros: You get exceptional performance/$ and performance/Watt and reliability.
Cons: Probably need to flash your motherboard's BIOS to a more current version to get this CPU support, I had to do this on my Dimension 9200 (BIOS 2.5.0 did it).
Other Thoughts: I went from Pentium D 915 to this Celly on my Dimension 9200 and let me tell you I am a happy camper! Individual synthetic benchmark results only went down by 10-15% but realistic benchmark results only went down by 5% tops. Didn't expect this from a Celeron especially when benchmarked against a Dual-Core chip. Not to mention the system's power consumption probably went down by about 75 Watts. This chip stays really cool and the fans stay quiet. Which is good for me since I keep my desktop running 24/7. With less heat dissipation comes the reliability boost.

loved the colling fan
Pros: I don't have the way to measure wattage/temperature yet. But I trust the spec. The reason I bought is to have a NAS server with low power consumption. I could get 2GB/sec with streams benchmark, good enough for my NAS.
Cons: none

Pros: This chip works great for a file/web server. I replaced a celeron D 3.2 @ 3.8ghz with this one and at stock its way faster. With stock fan it idles at 19C, load is 32C not bad at all.
Cons: None

Here's to hopeing!
Pros: I've heard some really good things about this processor for the price field and performance field it is in. As it is useless to try and compare this to it's big brother the core 2 duo, this fills Intel's entry level market quite nicely. I'm hoping this will be an adequate replacement till I get my Quad...
Cons: None so far!
Other Thoughts: I bought this as a quick fix for my fried Motherboard and CPU, and I feel it will replace my older Socket 478 Pentium 4 just fine.

Overclockers Toy
Pros: Overclocks like crazy!
Cons: Still dosen't walk the dog :)
Other Thoughts: This is a follow up to my last review. I have it OCed to 2667Mhz and running at 25C with the stock cooler.
I'm running it on an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe with 2GB GeIL DDR2 Ultra Dual Channel Kit PC2-6400

Flabbergasted
Pros: Installation was very easy. I did a benchmark test at pcpitstop.com and was utterly astonished by the results. Out of 5033 PCs tested with 1.6Ghz CPUs, mine came out on top.
Cons: It won't walk my dog ;)
Other Thoughts: I'm upgrading to a C2D E6600 later, but if you are building a PC on a tight budget, you can't go wrong with this CPU. The Conroe core and 65nm architecture make it stand head and shoulders above everything else in it's class.

Great bang for buck!!!
Pros: Cheap (price wise) processor with newer Core 2 Duo architecture with a 800 MHz FSB. Runs cool and uses low power. includes SSSE3 and 64 bit support with speedstep (down to 1.2 GHz)
Cons: only a single core, but what can you expect for the price? L2 cache is only 512 KB, the usual trend with a celeron is that it has half of its cousin, not a fourth (C2D has 2 megs per core)....
Other Thoughts: This processor supports overclocking well like its cousin the C2D. i managed to have it run at a 266 FSB with stock voltage. hit a wall at 360 FSB with my 667 RAM(the cheap stuff).
