newbie can OC
Pros: Cheap, really easy to Overclock. I don't have any experience OCing and I was able to OC it to 3.5Ghz on stock cooler, but I keep it at 3.3GHz for stability.
Cons: na
Other Thoughts: My Setup: Intel E5200 rev. ro 2.5GHz OC'd to 3.3GHz Gigabyte G31M-ESL2 4GB Patriot Viper DDR2 800 Gigabyte GeForce 7300GT 256MB WD Green 500GB HD LG 22X DVDRW 500W Antec Earthwatts PSU Antec Sonata III case

suprising
Pros: not to hard on the pocket not a gaming processor but you can run quite a few very smoothly. GTA IV, Mercenaries just to name a couple i've played. is stable o.c.ing to 3.06ghz idles around 28^c and during moderate to heavy us 30-31^c. wouldn't recomend doing so unless heavily cooled and a good knowledge of it. and newegg always prompt with the service
Cons: none so far does everything i wanted and then some
Other Thoughts: would recomend for low budget build or for average user to a moderate gamer two thumbs up

It lives !
Pros: Got me out of dark ages of sincle cores ! Overclockable & quiet fan.
Cons: A real pain to install on mobo, thought I was going to break it! Took about 15 mins to install on mobo !!
Other Thoughts: I hope intel sells replacement hardware if it has to be removed, otherwise aftermarket cooler !!

What a Deal!!
Pros: It is an Intel Chip,,,,, what more is there to say?
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I am running this thing at 3.25GHz and it is not even breathing hard!! I do have a better cooler on it other than the stock one.

Amazing!!!!
Pros: Great bang for the buck. Running @ 4.0 Ghz @ 1.36 vCore, 100% tested and stable.
Cons: The cooler that comes with it is tiny, but I'm not going to subtract an egg because I'm sure it's fine if your not an overclocker.
Other Thoughts: Using an inexpensive OCZ cooler. Temps stay under 62C at 100% load.

intel song stuck inside my head
Pros: It's Intel what more do you want to know? The E5200 is a nice Wofldale chip that has been unfortunately branded with the Pentium name. Keep in mind it's light years away from that old Pentium 4 architecture. With the lack of L2 Cache it's not going to impress the ladies, but it's no slouch either if you overclock. If you are like me, this is a good cheap processor that meets the needs of your wife & little ones.
Cons: No coupons to Disney World? :P

FAST and COOL
Pros: Overclocks like MAD! Did a simple BSEL mod with some rear-window defroster repair goo and have this baby running at 4.16 GHz at 1.35V 24/7 in my DELL XPS 420! Idles at 30C and stresses at 58C, never a blip, 100% stable! Pretty kick for a locked Dell! Only hits 100% utilization while stressing or benching. Couldnt be happier!
Cons: I miss the 12MB L2 in my Xeon quad-core... Couldnt they have given it even 4MB?
Other Thoughts: Dell XPS 420 E5200 @ 4.12 GHz 4GB Crucial Ballistix 74GB 10,000 RPM OS drive Dual 1TB storage drives Radeon X300 PCI-e basic video :) Windows XP Pro Everything else bone stock

Plenty of Power
Pros: Plenty of computing power for my needs.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: If I need more performance I'll add a Graphics card to the system. If I want even more I'll upgrade to a faster Socket 775 CPU.

Absolutely amazing CPU, especially for price.
Pros: AMAZINGLY COOL. I've OC'd it to 3.4ghz on stock cooling and can go higher and it idles at 30C. Bought as an upgrade from my old pentium D 820 and couldn't be happier.
Amazingly cheap, bought as a package with a motherboard for only 100$.
Cons: uhhh... it's not quad-core?
Other Thoughts: Huge bang for the buck, seriously.

pentium e5200
Pros: Better than what i had, celerons have very little l2 cache went from 512kb to 2mb,help my comps performance .Chip is oc capable ,but performs well at stock spec's.
Cons: Not top of the line for the same price (I WISH )
Other Thoughts: Limited to 800fsb,would like to get a better chip but not ready to change my mobo, should have went with the 5300 for the 5$ difference ,but still the same performance, difference is very small.

Good chip showing its age
Pros: Solid performer even for most modern games, when overclocked. *most* run cool.
Cons: Apparently I got a not so great one, since it runs at 35c idle (not a bad temp, but not as low as most report theirs at), and can't OC it stable past 2.9 on two different high end boards. It also gives me audio issues when under load (tested it with various hardware).
Other Thoughts: If you're bargain building, spend the extra 20 bucks and at least get a 7000 series. The 5200 was a great little chip in its day, but it's reaching the end of its impressiveness.

A serious upgrade
Pros: What can I say - trouble free installation and configuration. Excellent documentation on Gigabyte's part. Glad they included both an SATA and IDE drive cable.
Cons: It must have been the very old case I was using - I had a lot of trouble lining the ports with the back faceplate.
Another issue I had is how Realtek handles it's sound mixer. I noticed that input volume levels could not be adjusted for line in, mic, etc (they're always greyed out). After a ton of reading on the 'net, it seems this is how they configure they're drivers. So if you want to record what you're hearing through your speakers (Stereo Mix, so called), you can't adjust the inputs independently of the outputs. It would be a real issue if the pc this board was used for was mine (see Other Thoughts).
Other Thoughts: How's this for an upgrade: in the mid 1990's I built my Dad a pc - a Pentium II/Win95. He never used it. In 2010 he decides he wants to use it, but now it's unusable. I gutted the case and replaced: power (SeaSonic SS-350ES 350W) mobo (this one) cpu (E5200) ram (A-DATA 2 x 1GB DDR2 800 PC2 6400) hard drive (an old Samsung 40G Spinrite)
I kept the ancient cd-rom and floppy. It only took 15 years, but now he's on the internet.

A great home and game processor.
Pros: I decided that my 1.6 at work was boring... So... you know I... upgraded it. Works really good. Runs cool, stable, and has a nice kick, more than I expected.
Cons: There are cons to this processor? Tell me when you find one.
Other Thoughts: Hey guys, yeah you, the overclockers. Go big or go home. Why are you wasting your time overclocking a small processor? Go buy a bigger processor and spend your time getting to a respectable clock. Like 5ghz.... per core.... on air. The E8400 will allow you to do that. I suggest you spend the cash and have some big fun.

Honey for the money
Pros: This is an incredible processor for the price. I had no problem with it and no complaints. I did not over-clock it. I am not a gamer, I'm a support technician.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I used this with a "Foxconn G31MV-K LGA' motherboard using Windows XP and it performed well. Downloads from the DSL internet is where I saw the best improvement over a lot other computers I've worked with.

Dual Core Processor
Pros: The processor works like a dream. It is very stable but was hard to setup on the Gigabyte board I was using. The processor wanted to read 1.9 Ghz instead of 2.5 when setup in Auto mode. It is now clocking at 2.97 Ghz with a tweak of the Bios and is cool and stable. A great cheap chip to overclock for sure.
Cons: none

Cool, solid intro CPU with plenty of headroom
Pros: Easy to get running; runs cool even with stock cooler at stock spec; tons of headroom on air; low, low price of 775 components
Cons: None. No, really.
Other Thoughts: This was part of a build done for me by my brother six months ago. I have learned a lot, specifically that this processor has a ton of headroom. This runs around 32 idle, 48 load with the stock cooler for me, and am very pleased how problem-free it has proven. This is a great processor for an intro build while you cut your teeth and learn more. In the event of an epic fail, you're still only out <$70 on the CPU.
As a note, the push pin-style Intel heatsink lifted on me. I was running CoreTemp so I caught it immediately, but I suggest some monitoring tool since I don't trust non-bolt-through heatsinks.

Awesome CPU
Pros: 4 Ghz easy, for the cheap. I'm done being an early adopter. It wasn't long ago Wolfdale was the $$$. Buy before they're gone, Intel won't have these forever.
Cons: Intel will probably not have a better "economy" processor for a long time. Remember the Celeron 300A?

Steer clear of this one
Pros: Kind of cheap?
Cons: This chip runs extremely hot. Non-OC'd, well cooled (Tuniq Tower heatsink, quality case), it runs at about 40c. Unacceptable for a 2.5Ghz chip. It wouldn't be such a problem if the cpu didn't start to glitch above 35c. When light gaming it causes audio issues. It took me 2 mobos, 2 audio cards, and 2 power supplies to realize it was the chip. Can't be overclocked above 2.9Ghz without failure. It's possible I got a bad chip, since others haven't had the same experience.
Other Thoughts: This CPU has caused me hundreds of dollars in hardware replacement trying to figure out why it ran so hot, and why it caused audio issues when put under even minimal stress.
I have no idea why someone would spend this much on such a weak CPU when for the same price you can get a tri-core from Intel's competitor. I almost considered replacing this with a higher end intel chip, but I'm not taking the chance with them again. Premium prices for sub-premium performance.

Fantastic CPU
Pros: Performs fantastically. Overclocks from 2.5Ghz to 3.43Ghz VERY easily. You really can't go wrong with this processor.
Cons: None. At all.
Other Thoughts: I can probably get it to go past 3.43Ghz, I just need to adjust the Voltage, which I'm none too good at.

GREAT CPU @ GREAT PRICE
Pros: This is an awesome dual-core CPU! Windows 7 x64 runs flawlessly on it!
Cons: This is an outdated processor, smaller L2 cache than newer chips.
Other Thoughts: For daily computing, and gaming, this is a great processor. It can handle a lot being thrown at it!

great buy!
Pros: super fast for how much it is. it uses 1.100 volts as apposed to my old cpu which is a 1.8ghz e2160 that took 1.3125 V while idling. it also runs super cool with my old aftermarket heat sink i was getting these temps: CPU #1 / Core #1 29 °C (84 °F) CPU #1 / Core #2 29 °C (84 °F)
and now im getting CPU #1 / Core #1 25 °C (77 °F) CPU #1 / Core #2 25 °C (77 °F) so its pretty much better in every way!
Cons: heat sink is a joke...3 times smaller than my old one. but i dont care beacause i already had a better one.oh and also the surface it has that attaches to the cpu is circular which means that it does not completely cover the prossesor which seems a bit sketchy to me
Other Thoughts: new egg once again shipped on perfect timing
GO NEW EGG!

Easy to overclock
Pros: Great processor to overclock. make sure you purchase a better heatsink fan since the stock one is only great for regular settings. 45nm chip so it's cool from the get go.
Cons: intel heatsink fan is horrid and every computer builder knows this.
Other Thoughts: i bought this cpu strictly to just overclock and some gaming. and so far it's working awesome

Amazing performance for a decent build
Pros: *45nm - Low power dissipation *Two Cores *Cheap *LGA 775 with a huge number of available motherboards to choose from
Cons: *Barely sufficient L2 cache *Stock cooler may not be effective enough for continuous running
Other Thoughts: Good for a decent build. Use a decent graphic card to improve overall performance. Choose the mobo wisely. There are multiple upgrade paths for this processor.

Quite a lot of power for so little money!
Pros: THE PRICE!! The speed.. the low energy consumption! It was a world of difference from my previous Intel CPU.. (Pentium 4 630 HT) It runs Crysis and GTA4 on all high settings with 95% fluid framerates, barring any cpu-intesive scenes. All-in-all, I'm VERY satisfied with my purchase. I would recommend this CPU to anyone looking for a cheaply-priced powerful CPU.
Cons: That I didn't order it sooner!
Other Thoughts: I know this CPU is VERY overclockable, but unfortunately the mobo I've got it paired with lacks decent overclocking options, so to use it to its full potential, I'd need to buy a much more expensive mobo, which I'm not willing to do at this point. It still exceeds my performance expectations even at stock speeds, so I'm still happy!

Egg-cellent Bang For The Buck
Pros: Can't beat the price, beats my C2DE6600 in Passmark, runs cool (idle 29, 100% load 56) in the 10-year old case I used for a General/light gaming Christmas build for my son, no issues with install (other than the heatsink - see cons). Plays Fallout 3 and Bioshock at max settings very well (the only 2 games I tested it on). The final Pro would have to be Newegg, they processed my orders very quickly, and got everything to me in roughly 2 days, despite the order being placed 2 weeks before Christmas. Everything was correct, worked, and made this build extremely easy.
Cons: Stock heatsink/fan isnt great, but works fine w/ no overclock. The only issue I had was getting the heatsink to seat properly on the Asus mobo, but it DID seat after a little wrangling (Im wondering if the people that are having issues with temp (no OC) have it seated properly). As I mentioned the case is an old one and is NOT a friggin wind tunnel, but it stays very cool, so I'm not deducting eggs for it, for the price we're lucky to even GET a heat sink.
Other Thoughts: Build list: ASUS P5QL/EPU LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard, Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor, Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 996684, Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive, MSI Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM SATA CD/DVD Burner LightScribe Support, Netgear WN311B PCI Wireless Network Adapter - 270Mbps, 802.11n (Draft N). I actually added an internal USB hub that Newegg didn't carry, and a couple of SATA cables, and still got this rig built for under $300. You really can't beat that with a stick. I added an Nvidia 7900GT and a 350W power supply I had laying around, and this baby runs like a champ! Thanks again Newegg!

solid performer
Pros: Solid, dual-core performance. Unparalleled value for the price.
Cons: None, really.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to build a uATX system for my kids and I have no doubt that it will be able to handle all the schoolwork, photo editing, internet and basic games they can throw at it.

5200 does not support sse4 newegg!
Pros: the 5200 is a steal for real
Cons: but it sure as 'ell does NOT have the sse4 instruction set enabled like other wolfdale cores. Newegg really needs to change the outright incorrect product overview...
Other Thoughts: regardless, knock ur fsb up to 320 mhz and your runnin at 4ghz and tearing through calculations :)

amazing cpu
Pros: powerful little thing; runs very cool. my BIOS indicates 24C but hey even if its wrong by a couple degrees, it's still very cool.
Cons: its not as fast as a top of the line, $1000 core i7
Other Thoughts: paired it with a radeon 4350 (heatsink only)...and threw in 2 wd hd's for a raid 1 setup. im very pleased cuz the htpc is really cool and quiet. the noisiest component is the power supply! (cuz alas im using a cheap one)

Easy Overclocker
Pros: Overclocked to 3.51MHZ for the last 2 days with no problems using stock heatsink/fan. I haven't tried to push it farther yet....but I will
Cons: NONE.........The stock heatsink fan is easy to install and works perfectly.
Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a Pentium D 805 2.66mhz overclocked to 3.3+. Much faster

Great for basic system
Pros: Works great. Good bang for your buck. I have a couple of these and they work without fuss. Nothing like Intel Stable and reliable.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: The average computer user does not need more than this. This does all the basic stuff. Just ordered one to use in a Windows Home Server Machine. I have one in a Media Center Machine and have no issues.

Great little Overclocker
Pros: Runs cool; cheap; same cache as previous Core2 lineup; 45nm and SSSE3. Overclocked to 3.125 at stock voltage on ASRock G41 board.
Cons: None at this price.
Other Thoughts: Running FSB1000 synchronous with DDR2 1000, and and ATi4650, all-in-all a very solid little machine for everyday use and some casual gaming.

Great for your buck!
Pros: Ok, so I can't up my volts on my mobo to really get hold of overclocking this cpu, but stable on air I am @ 3.5ghz. Simple as overclocking the FSB @ 1100 mhz, 275 x 12.5
Cons: Intel are you for real with this Peice of !@#$ heatsink/fan? At NORMAL STOCK, NOT overclocked, it would not even pass an OCCT stress test because it would over heat at FIVE MINUTES. ???????? It would jump from 33-35 C idle, to 80 C in under five minutes on a %100 load (80 C is an auto FAIL on OCCT, and this cpu is not recommended to have a core temp past 70 C!!!!). I gave this product a 4/5 ONLY because of that. I put in an after market fan and BAM! Rocking (lol thought this was funny that I have the same idle overclocked as I did running it stock after replacing the heat sink/fan) %37 overclock, Idle 33 C, 4 hours into OCCT @ %100 cpu load, 55 C. Peak. Imagine the possibilities if you can change your volts on this bad boy! Read some reviews! even seen a few that OC'ed theirs to 4ghz!!! For this price?! Buy it!
Other Thoughts: Defently worth a buy if your still rocking an older mobo, great for overclocking and for budget P.C. owners. ~CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH~ You HAVE to buy an after market heatsink/fan, NOT a suggestion!!!!!! A MERE $14-30 INVESTMENT!!! Even if your not gaming or doing anything stress heavy, at %100 load for 5 minutes, say installing or unziping a program, you could hurt your cpu!! Play it safe buy a $13 one even if your a cheap-o like ME!!

best value
Pros: has 2mb l2 cache. inexpensive.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: i think it's the best value for the money. making the jump from 1mb of l2 cache up to 2mb of l2 cache is a big difference in performance. do it and get this processor.

Good processor, great value
Pros: Excellent bargain processor for the price. Low power for the power.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: No need for me to go to anything like E6xxx or E7xxx or E8xxx for my MythTV system. Works great on commercial marking and transcoding.

Good CPU
Pros: Replaced an E2160 @ 3ghz with a E5200. With little tinkering got it 11X333mhz (3.66ghz) at 1.275 volts (1.225 w/vdroop), and 58c under load. I got it to 4.16ghz (12.5x333mhz) with 1.325 volts, but I am HSF limited. My cheap HSF cant keep it below 66c @ 4.16ghz. The difference with the E2160 is especially noticable in games, and video conversions.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Stock cooler is fine for stock speeds. If you overclock with it be advised that you will most likely lose the CPU.

Intel E5200 Wolfdale by StudioBC
Pros: Killer processor for the money. These all installed fine and are still running fine. They can be overclocked like crazy - but in a bulk deal we avoid it and none of these were - none had to be. Good/great value.
Cons: Couldn't get them all from the Egg.
Other Thoughts: We like CPUs that do not come with unexpected surprises.

Superb CPU
Pros: Great price and superb CPU. It is one of the Overclockers weapons of choice. I build my own but I'm sure no genius and this 2.5 runs at 3.5 rock steady and has for a year.
Cons: It's not free?? Only one I can think of.
Other Thoughts: Has converted a die-hard AMD fan to an Intel man for sure.

Excellent processor for the money
Pros: I saw a review stating that the e5200 can't decode H.264 1080p. Wrong. With CoreAVC and KMPlayer, CPU usage hovers around 60% on my rig with no hardware acceleration at all.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Very nice processor for an HTPC build.

Great Processor
Pros: Installation was a breeze, oc'ed to 3.0ghz in no time with stock cooler, been running for months with ZERO problems
Cons: Nada
Other Thoughts: This with a Gigabyte board with 4 gigs of ram, under 300 dollar system, running great. Add a graphics card and you have a decent budget gaming rig

Lots of bang
Pros: For the money , this processor rocks . Lots of bang for the buck .
Cons: some more L2 cache memory would help.

Impressive for the Price
Pros: Cheap, good enough
Cons: Intel
Other Thoughts: I bought this for a gaming box I was building on a budget. While this processor is not as good as probably what I should be using, for it's price it's pretty impressive. Paired it up with a pretty good graphics card and it was able to run Crysis, albeit at only about 30 frames per second.

Budget Build
Pros: This is a great processor for the cost. It is fast coming from a P4 3.4 HT Prescott.
Cons: No VT (I don't use this feature anyway).
Other Thoughts: New Mobo, this cpu and 4 gigs of ram for under $200! Thanks Newegg!

good budget cpu
Pros: Works great. Handles daily tasks without a problem.
Cons: Heatsink sucks and is not easy to install.

Great budget CPU
Pros: Terrific budget CPU. With little effort I was able to overclock to 3.66ghz (333x11) with an increase of 0.15v. I only tested for stability and did not attempt testing to see if this speed was stable at lower voltages; It very well may be. Stock cooler seems sufficient with decent airflow inside the case, though it is pathetically small.
Cons: It doesn't make my coffee in the morning.
Other Thoughts: This CPU exceeded my expectations. I would have been happy with 3.33ghz or so since this is an entry level PC, but it was so easy and stable at 3.66ghz that I went with it. Since this isn't my own PC, I don't have the time or patience to test for max overclock, just wanted to plug in some settings, Prime95 for 24 hours and go with it. Worked like a charm.

GREAT CPU
Pros: Price is right. Never have any trouble with CPU maxing during audio/video editing... CPU runs like a champ, temp is always in line. Multitasking is great.
Cons: none, especially for the price.
Other Thoughts: only time CPU maxes out is while gaming (KOTOR II) at medium graffic settings. But it never froze. again, great CPU for the price.

E5200
Pros: -Easy and great upgrade for the price for my situation -Easy to overclock (only pushing 2412.04 MHz for my cpu. 201 x 12.0 I've had my cpu built in the same NZXT tower for almost 3 years and finally upgraded the processor from an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.8ghtz. Definitely could see the difference in stress situations and with average temperatures. With a better cooling system in my tower, it's easily possible to push this to 3.5
Cons: The heat sink that came with it is ineffective. The heatsink that came with my old Core 2 Duo had copper where the one that came with the E5200 was flimsy and much shorter fins. I'd recommend buying a new one either way.
Other Thoughts: After overclocking the processor a few times, it would lower itself in voltage until under some stress or when CPU usage would rise and then it would push itself up to the speed it was clocked to run at it. Might have been BIOS, but it didn't seem like it. Didn't really affect how I viewed it negatively but just a thought. This processor is a great investment to upgrade to for the price.

Fantastic chip
Pros: -Cheap. Dollar to performance ratio is very high, especially when you overclock. If you spend just a moment to overclock it, you can easily get double your money's worth out of this CPU. -Very easily overclocked. Took it to 3.32GHz right out the gate using an ASRock G41M-S motherboard and a cheap Masscool HSF. Sitting in an Antec 300 case with 3 120mm SFLEX fans and the included (2) TriCools, the processor only gets to 48c under heavy load. It can overclock much higher, but at the moment there's no real need for it, as the heaviest use it sees is photoshop and hulu.
Cons: None come to mind; sub $70 CPU with free shipping, easily over clocked to 3.5-4.0GHz on air. What's to complain about?
Other Thoughts: Definitely get a bolt through HSF as opposed to a pushpin one. Much easier to work with, and you won't worry yourself about cracking the motherboard trying to get that last pin in.
e5200 @ 3.325GHz ASRock G41M-S GSkill 2x1GB DDR2 800 MSI 9600GT 1GB Corsair 550VX Antec 300
$(Two Thirty) after rebates. Can't beat it for the price. To aspiring over clockers: please make sure you have a quality PSU.

Great Cpu
Pros: Easy to overclock, high multiplier, runs cool with 3rd party heatsink.
Cons: The heatsink it comes with is mediocre if you plan on overclocking past 3.2ghz, and I wished It had a bigger cache.
Other Thoughts: Great cpu for the money, can easily hit 3.6ghz. I would have tried for 4.0ghz, but my northbridge got to hot.

Pros: I was looking for a pair of CPU's and this one had over 600 reviews and 87% were five eggs. I figure that many people can't be wrong and I was right. The CPU's work great.

Not 1st Generation its a Wolfdale.
Pros: This is a Wolfdale, a rebranded Core 2 Duo as Intel kept upgrading the 775s. Overclocked to 3.216Ghz with just a change in the multiplier. Idles at 27C according to Speedfan. Only runs on 1608.06Ghz while surfing the web as opposed to gaming, then it reaches a temp of of no more than 45C and only after hours under load.
Cons: Price hasn't fallen much since March, wthell? No VT to those who believe all Pentiums support it, get a 6300 then youre good.
Other Thoughts: Gigabyte G31 ATI3850 Corsair XMS2 1066Mhz RAM (doesnt seem to like going much faster), still good. Windows7 64 and XP Home Remember, not a First generation, I believe that would be more like the Celerons although they do seem equal to this in everything besides the L2.

This Thing Rocks
Pros: I have it clocked to 3.75Ghz on air with a 42C temp with load. You definitely get way more than your money's worth with this processor. Highly recommend!!
Cons: It took some time to get it set up right in the bios but that was my board and ram issue.
Other Thoughts: I wanted to upgrade my cabinet to a 64bit OS to run Blitz2k and SF4 and it works like a charm with no sweat when paired up with a GTX260.

Nice little card
Pros: Clocks are unlocked so it easy to OC this card. It handles games and other apps well.
Cons: Not for workstations or heavey data crunching but you should know this... I7 is where thats at.
Other Thoughts: Under $100 and it beats the other pompetitors chips at this price... Welcome to the best bang or buck range Intel!

AWESOME CPU!!!!
Pros: This thing is fantastic for the price. OC is a breeze. I got a 460 watt coolermaster psu with 8400gs 512 mb nvidia 500Gb sata hd 4Gb ram and OCed it to 3.6 running 100%cpu usage at 43c stable as hell. i replaced the heatsink with a coolermaster cause the stock is a joke. spend the few extra bucks for a good heat sink and fan you wont regret it. i tried to get it to 3.75 it ran but i had a hard time getting windows to boot right. 3.7 still hit 45c maxed out. i need to tweak the voltage a bit and invest in a better psu. i think with the right balance i could get 3.8 3.9 stable.
Cons: none its the best cpu for the money by far
Other Thoughts: if you want a great cpu for the money look no further this this runs so smooth and cool

Cons: Clock locked

Quite a Processor
Pros: Over 22,000 score on 3D Vantage processor test. To compare my quad core Q6600 scores 9,000 and my Athlon 5000+ scores 4,500. I thought this was some kind of error but every time I test it I get the same results. Low power, fast, and efficient processor that is great for the price. An unexpected gem with that gaming performance scores.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Other Thoughts: I haven't tried overclocking it. It came stock in a Lenovo Desktop I purchased. I have a 9800GT in there so it can handle all the games and play the heck out of my Blu-Ray's.

pretty darn good
Pros: So far, so good! Installed in my mobo easily, runs fast, and runs cool. Idle temp for me with native clock is 25-26c with stock cooler (this is while running a browser and few other apps) gets to 40c when doing some harder decoding, but thats as hot as its gotten. very pleased with how nicely it muli-tasks and how snappy it is. good little cpu, wouldn't hesitate to recommend this or build another system with it.
Cons: Stock cooler, not the best, but again; its stock. Other then that, none.
Other Thoughts: For someone like me who went from an ancient computer to this one, its really fast. Not as fast as a core2 duo, but up to par.
My system: Intel E5200, 2 gigs of gskill 800mhz ddr2, 150 sata hdd, creative xfi sound card, evga nvidia geforce 9400 gt 32 core version, foxconn mobo, and 350 watt psu. nothing special but not bad!

9 month review
Pros: This thing will overclock like there is no tomorrow.Mine will hit 4.2ghz and didn't go over 125 degrees f.Have it at 3.2 ghz 24/7 doesn't go over 100 degrees f with Arctic cooler freezer7.If you need a budget cpu this is it without a doubt.Couple this with a good motherboard & ram & video card and you are set.
Cons: pffft what cons, other than I paid 82$ instead of 66$ 9 months ago.
Other Thoughts: Get this and overclock the bejeezus out of it..Mine loves the juice and doesn't get hot.

Good For 720p But Not 1080p
Pros: Inexpensive

A Great CPU and a Great Overclocker
Pros: Why this CPU has not won the monthly NewEgg award simply astound me. The best bang for the buck...PERIOD!
Cons: People who complain about the "low" level of L2 cache (who probably are clueless as to what cache does anyway).
Other Thoughts: This CPU is adequate for about 90% of people who use PCs. In fact, if you throw this into a build, close the case and invite people to evaluate your new build...they will always be astounded at the performance. IOW, if you don't know what is in the box, you will be amazed by this CPU. It is only when you sheepishly follow the crowd that you will dis this CPU. If you start off telling them it is an E5200, folks will say "Ewww, what a piece of garbage!" If you do not tell them, they will say, "Wow, what CPU do you have in here? It id SO FAST." Don't be the merchant's dream. Unless you absolutely require a Quad, get this CPU. BTW, most of you are already running computers that are tremendous overkill for your needs. (Notice I said NEEDS, not playing Crysis on high on the Big Screen at Dodger Stadium.) Anyway, it is your money...do whatever you want.

pretty good so far....
Pros: seems to be running well enough. Runs very cool on the Arctic Freezer Pro, idles about 36c with arctic silver paste. I have the e5200 overclocked to 3.44ghz 12.5x275 1001mhz fsb with my ddr-2 800 running at 826mhz. Gonna try clocking it higher. I replaced it with a pentium D 925. I just wish the e5200 had the 4mb L2 cache that the pentium D had. I am noticing some slow down in the new game Risen where as the pentium D overclocked to 3.7ghz ran the game better.
Cons: not as much L2 cache as I'd like to have
Other Thoughts: great price, buy one

great budget cpu
Pros: Really good for office work, web surfing, watching movies, and even some med-light gaming. It overclocks well even though I havent tried it yet since its in my dad's computer. Its extremely responsive and after months of use has yet to slow down. The stock heatsink/fan is sufficient for stock clocks i suppose but probably wouldn't be too useful for overclocking, Idles around 38C. I dont know why everyone whines about the push pins, I had absolutely no trouble installing it on the Gigabyte G31M-ESL2.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of, some might not like the push pins but I had no trouble. Heatsink isnt meant for overclocking very much, you might get a few extra mhz out of it.
Other Thoughts: Put this baby in my dad's new computer that he uses for web surfing, word docs, watching videos, stuff like that. Paired it with the G31M-ESL2 with 2gb of ram and WinXP and its working out really great.

Excellent Basic Cpu
Pros: Inexpensive and practically made for overclocking.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Running stable after 8 months @3gz at stock voltage.
Temps are low using stock Intel cooler (scraped off stock paste and applied some Arctic Silver 5). Under Prime95 load, temps top out at 48-49 degrees C. During typical use they rarely exceed 42 degrees.

Crazy Overclocker
Pros: * Overclocked to 4.0ghz with arctic cooling freezer pro 7
* 12.5x multiplier for overclockers
* very cheap
* I run Crysis with my 9800gtx+ along with this at 60fps on high settings.
Cons: * NONE
Other Thoughts: I dont even know why you wouldnt get this chip??? its that good

Fedora 11 Loves This Processor
Pros: This processor was great for building a university student computer and Fedora 11 has been quite responsive. The processor is not over clocked and operates at 41 degrees C. upon average with the stock fan.
Cons: None!

Intel Pentium E5200 2.5GHz Dual-core review
Pros: Withstood a 24-hour Mersenne torture test, as well as a Everest Ultimate Edition 24-hour benchmarking and torture test. Easy to overclock, currently running at 2.76GHz (Overclocked 10%). Currently running on stock heatsink and fan, load never goes higher than 50 degrees Celsius, even under torture tests AND running apps while playing games all at the same time!
Cons: A bit of a testy overclocker, check your motherboard and RAM specs before you attempt to do anything with this CPU
Other Thoughts: Motherboard: ASUS P5QL/EPU RAM: 2GB (2x1GB) Kingston KVR DDR2 800 1GB (2x512MB) Kingston KVR DDR2 667

Power, reliability, and leg room
Pros: Excellent CPU. Runs great at stock speed. But why stop there? Runs stable at 3.7ghz. I've had it up for 12+ with no problems. The stock fan and heatsink are a little weak, but they get the job done. But if you're picky, buy a better heatsink and fan. Overclocker's will have fun with this one.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: If you're new to overclocking, watch your step when increasing the bus speed. On most boards it will effect the speed of your RAM. I would suggest running DDR2 1066 ram if you're going to overclock this much. Remember that even 1066 isn't a standard speed. If you do overclock with 800 make sure you up the voltage a little bit or it won't be stable.

Mad Over Clocker
Pros: It over clocks like crazy (Although the stock cooler is cheap) with a Noctua 92mm with fan on low (silence is golden) I hit 4.2GHz stable with 32-34 degrees at idle and 61-64 degrees after 8 hour under 100% load... can't complain about that...
Cons: yeah right...
Other Thoughts: the E6300 and this are two of the best over clocking CPU's I've seen since the E2200 series. maybe even better. the 5300 and the 5400 don't seem to have quite as much room as these do but they are great too...

Budget
Pros: It's a low dollar s775 Core2 Duo. If you have a s775 board, a lesser proc, and a board that supports it, then this is a good move.
Runs cool in an HTPC, 3 folding farm fields, and great for boards you have around that need filled with newer procs.
Cons: No VT, 2M cache, and ya the heatsink is wafer thin. It's thin because it's built for it's intended use, low cache may not help a user that uses his/her computer very hard, and that leads to VT which I find worth having...it's just an extension.
I'd only buy these 800Mhz 45nm Wolfdales for SFF's or HTPC's, not your main computer unless on a very strict budget. If you can redirect $40 here and there, you could go grab a quad currently, but from the other team. For $40 more, you could swamp this CPU easily on the benches and actual usage.
Running this thing to 4Ghz is just toying with hardware and having some good geek fun. The end result isn't always worth it though. Some things just need cache and cores which this doesn't have.
How cool it runs, is relative to so many things it's not worth mentioning. I can shut the thing down thermally, so you could too. How many volts you push, how high you chose to run it, and all the general building items need taken into account.
I don
Other Thoughts: Check your BIOS version before swapping CPU's. You'll usually need to flash it if you already have a CPU and this is replacing it. Saves you from ripping it all apart just to stick the old one back in, flashing, then putting this back in.
I would still NOT build around this CPU as a focal point. And that's today as of this writing, not at it's release when I first tried one (and 5 later). It's just low dollar to me and not much more. I'd compare it's actual performance, not synthetic benches, to a legacy Pentium4 945 Presler. At least that one will pull 4.5Ghz for more numeral pleasures.

Biggest band for your buck
Pros: Amazing processor! Overclocked this bad boy to 3.56 running stable with ram at 912 and fsb at 285 (1140), with 5:4 divider. This was the max i could get it stable, so i dialed it down to 275 (1100) fsb and ram at 880 using 5:4 divider for a cpu speed of 3.43. Computer boots up very fast, games run smooth as butter, and programs load like lightning! Attached a Therm@ltake Blue Orb with arctic silver, cpu idles at 37, and the max i saw it get was like 55 under load. Dont really recommend the blue orb unless you have a hax saw handy. I had to chop off the entire top of it to get it in my case. Those things are enormous, but they keep things cool as a cucumber.
Cons: This is not really a con but i was slightly disappointed i couldn't get it to 3.75 or even 4.0. Machine would restart and put in default settings. But i think it was a limitation on my psu and or mobo. Tried increasing vcore voltage, fsb and couldnt get it. Also tried bringing down the multiplier to 10.5 and 11.5 leaving my vcore on auto. When i did this it increased my vcore to 1.45. This was not a good sign. My psu might not be able to handle higher fsb on the board. Please see other thoughts for specs. Overall an amazing processor though.

sweet swett over clock
Pros: over clock to 3.0 and fairly stable in my $20 case and stock Intel cooler with 3 hdds and a 8500gt and 5200 fx its low temps are in the low 30C at idle and dew to crudy ness of my set up hit about 70c in prime 95 in less then ten min. but that's my fault
Cons: its only clocked at 2.5 stock Intel cooler is crud
Other Thoughts: i love this thing its a great cpu mind u im only 14 and had a sub $400 buget but this thing is sweet to over clock

Good CPU for a budgeteer.
Pros: Noticeable difference in overall speed of system and system start up after upgrading from E1200 OC'D to 3.2. Price.
Cons: Would be great if it was 3mb cache for the same price; we all dream sometimes.
Other Thoughts: System Startup seems faster and fps in steam based games increased by around 10 frames. Not really interested in Overclocking this one as I did the E1200. It suffices.

Excellent budget buy
Pros: Low power consumption, as it's a 45nm part, allows effortlessly high overclock. I dailed in 3.7 gigahertz without much effort in 20 minutes. I ran prime95 overnight and it was rock solid. If you're willing to overlcock, this is a great budget buy.
Cons: The stock heatsink is rubbish. Get a decent aftermarket heatsink and you will be good to go.
Other Thoughts: The e5200 sacrifices certain things (no SSE4 for video encoding, no virtualization technology, et al), but if you don't require them, then this is a great buy. Once overclocked, it's more response for day to day chores than my core 2 quad q6600 @ 3.2 gigahertz.

Just works
Pros: Easy to put together. Took about 3 minutes to install. Fired it up without issue. Did a very mild OC on it to bump the speed to 3.0ghz. No issues at all. Ran Prime95 for 24 hours and everything worked as expected.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Great processor at a great price. OC'ing this chip is so easy. Just do it! You can boost performance by 25% without breaking a sweat.

Outstanding processor
Pros: Good speed, low price, dual-core.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I've used this for several budget builds. This is a great way to go if you want to finish the build then beef up the power to a quad-core or something later. Works great as a lower-power cpu in a media center for playing Blu-Ray.

Great Processor
Pros: Switched to this from a Prescott P4 3.2GHz and instantly noticed the speed difference. OC'd to 3.64GHz using stock cooler but plan to replace it before I really try to stress the system. A definite bargain for anyone looking for a budget CPU with impressive overclocking abilities.
Cons: While it's not a con to me, if you're looking to use Virtual XP under Windows 7 this processor won't support it. Also if you really want to do some serious OCing for this processor you'll need a better cooling than the stock.
Other Thoughts: Other than 1 item, everything purchased via Newegg has never failed me.

Nice one.
Pros: Cheap. Exceeded all expectations.
Encode 120 minute movie in one hour. Not bad for gaming.
Cons: Do not like the stock heatsink at all. What is that? wax?
Other Thoughts: Having used P4 2.8ghz 800fsb HT for about 6 years I would say this is at least 12x faster.
3 days shipped.

Amazing little warrior
Pros: Overclocked to 4ghz right out the box at 1.3v - Intel states a vcore max of 1.41v, which means I still have room! I'm currently idling at 27c and under full load 38c, water-cooled. Runs flawless and is prime95 stable for over 12 hours.
Cons: When compared to the price and OC ability, none.
Other Thoughts: One of the best overclocking chips I've had the pleasure of working with.

Excellent Value
Pros: Very overclockable, runs cool, inexpensive with very good performance. Oced to 3.75 right out of the box without a voltage increase. Raised voltage one increment just to be safe. Scored a 5.8 on Vista Ultimate. Outperforms comparable AMD processors. Would definitely purchase again.
Cons: No Virtualization Technology Support but honestly, who cares?

great for novice overclockers
Pros: i'm running this at 3.17 ghz in a gigabyte g31 mobo and just finished running prime95 perfectly for 12 hours. i'm sure it'll go higher but my rig already played l4d and other source engine games on high settings perfectly. masscool 8wa741 kept the cpu to 52 degrees and lower even after the 12 hour torture test. its an awesome cooler if you plan to oc with this cpu.
Cons: only has 2mb l2 cahe compared to the other wolfdales but i haven't noticed any lack of performance so not really a con. but it may be worth it to get the 2.8 version for that reason if you have a little extra cash. i simply didn't but am more than pleased with this board.
Other Thoughts: this was my first build and the overclocking was effortless on my ga-g31m-es2l once i figured out that you have to set the spd to something other than auto for the board to not downclock the processor.

Update 2
Pros: Got it running at 3.3 Ghz with an old P4 heatsink. Will rip through most games with high fps when coupled with a decent videocard. Will run Crysis at 30+ fps smooth as silk.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Don't try to use the stock heatsink if you plan to overclock it! You will laugh at it when you see the size of it! Slap on an old Pentium 4 sink if you have one. Works like a charm.

E5200, experienced user
Pros: I've been an overclocker since 2003, extreme to mild. This represents everything every overclocker stands for. Taking a cheap cheap cheap item and ramping up performance to match things 5x (or more) the cost! Not since IQYHA Bartons have I seen such easy and extreme gains.
Plugged into an ASUS P5q pro turbo, snapped to 3.6Ghz no problem (random settings) still tweaking it, but I can't get 4Ghz yet. Might be cooling, might be PSU. Either way this processor is an extreme value.
Another pro, got it from Newegg, shipping not as fast as it used to be, but still quick. I know its backed by a painless RMA process (which I've used numerous times)
Cons: I've read people typing it before, and I'm going to reaffirm it. This processor is amazing for its price. I cannot possibly say anything bad
Other Thoughts: Know what you're doing when you get this thing specifically to overclock.
While fast in its stock form, its easily and simply overclocked. Half an hour of research, and a decent motherboard will get you 3.2Ghz blindfolded.

good value
Pros: great cpu. overclocks well even on a stock cooler and holds reasonable temperatures. expect 40C idles, but not much over 60C loads
Cons: the hsf, not unlike the one shipped with the q9550, is a peice. theyve made them even smaller than they used to be so i swapped and used an old c2d stock hsf instead, which provided enough extra cooling to push over 3GHz
Other Thoughts: if you need a budget cpu and 2.5 is enough, then theres no question, this is a great chip - if you want to ramp clockspeed as high as you can, buy a baram or other high perf cooler and you should get some good mileage out of this

Very Good Processor
Pros: Very Fast, Runs cool. I have had this processor for about a week. i had previously ordered it on tiger direct, but it was on backorder for a few weeks and so I ordered it here, and what can I say, it's been great. The stock heatsink did not fit all the way but still made contact, but I recently bought a thermaltake black widow, and it lowered the temp about 20 degrees celsius. All my games run great, even though they're a little old. Runs l4d no problem
Cons: Stock heatsink did not fit 100%
Other Thoughts: setup- Intel dg43nb motherboard pentium dual core e5200 250gb sata hdd radeon hd4350 1gb 2gb corsair ddr2 gaming ram thermaltake black widow heatsink 80mm blue LED fan- exhaust 120mm fan on side of case - intake vista home basic
I know, it's not the top of the line system, but I think I did pretty well for my first gaming machine, and the fact that I'm still in college
