Bullet Proof...?
Pros: I custom build pc's for a CCTV installation company, and this little dandy keeps up with our cameras that push over 5Mb over 30ips. For the dummys, that is 150Mb per second!!! Thanks for another winner Intel!!!
Cons: What can I say? There "ain't a darn thing wrong!" Although, I am not a big fan of the heat sink hold downs.

Good CPU, good price
Pros: - dual core - nice price - good heatsink + fan assembly
Cons: - not the fastest kid on the block, but that would only last for a few weeks anyway. Saving money is better!
Other Thoughts: I installed this CPU in a server-class machine for a client, to be used as a file server/LAN-WAN gateway. 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 RAM, 1 TB SATA RAID level 1. This thing practically laughs at you when you try to stress it out. I've never seen the CPU usage rise above 20%. Runs at around 50 C. Nice.

Intel Xeon 3040
Pros: Well, being a beginner to overclocking really this chip is still pretty easy to work with. I haven't tweaked much besides upping the volts a bit and detaching the cpu from ram, but its running at 2.7GHz (super stable) on stock cooling and running at 41*C idle and about 59-62*C load. This is in a hot, small case too. Id try water cooling but cant fit my water cooler stuff in my new case. I might try to get it higher if i figure out what else to tweak but this is a pretty dang good OC for doing essentially nothing above stock...Im using an Asus P5N-E SLI and Trancend JetRam PC6400...Fantastic processor...well worth it.
Cons: none at all
Other Thoughts: wish i could try it out with water cooler faster ram than my (PC6400) but oh well, im sure i can get more speed out of it of i give it a try. I highly reccomend this chip...not just cuz of performance, but at the end of the day you can sit back and think to yourself "I have a Xeon" which is alway nice. :)

Incorrect Information
Pros: don't own.
Cons: don't own.
Other Thoughts: this has a 2M L3 not 4M. The 4M xeons are the 3060 and 3070. Quoting Intels website.

More info for possible buyers
Pros: Socket 775, 4MB cache, basically a higher cache version of the E6300. They have the specs wrong here about the cache and I have contacted them about it. This is a server CPU so the overclocking and stability of these tend to be higher then a standard non-Xeon cpu.
Cons: for a few bucks less you can get the 2MB cache E6300 or few bucks more the 2MB cache E6400
Other Thoughts: Spend the few extra bucks and get this over the E6300 and E6400.

Pros: Core 2 Duo architecture
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I don't actually own this processor (though I wouldn't mind). I just wanted to clear up some confusion that might be caused by one of the previous reviews.
This processor is for a 775-pin socket motherboard. It WILL NOT WORK in dual processor systems. Dual processor systems require the 7000 or 5000 series Xeons and a 771-pin socket motherboard.

Server cips have one more advantage
Pros: They can be used in Dual Processor Motherboard so two of these would give you quadcore conroe for $xxx. Well of course the server motherboard would coast around $xxx -$xxx.
Cons: Server Motherboards Pricey
Other Thoughts: Waiting For 40 core Cpu's so I can solve the meaning of life.

Odd
Pros: Hey hey, its a conroe.
Cons: It is true that it is 2MB Cache. I checked a few sources (intel.com, etc) and they match with 2MB Cache.
Other Thoughts: Although it may look exactly like the E'6300, server chips can usually take more constant wear-and-tear then normal desktop processors can. This might mean a better overclocking experience as well.
