Rating + 5 Little Sticks


Pros: I actually have the 1GB pair of this memory. These have performed fine for 1 year +. Compared to Kingston's, the rest of the memory stick manufacturer's websites are a joke. Kingston's is the only site that you can look up your mobo to see what ram is suggested. This information is either missing or sadly out of date at the other sites.

Cons: I really dislike these "half height" sticks. There is an opportunity for someone to make heatspreaders for these to bring them up to normal size. Your system looks as though you don't have ANY memory installed when you use these. Kingston...did you think these were a good idea ??

Other Thoughts: Those of us who like some bling in the systems we assemble will be avoiding these. It's a shame that I will be ordering ram from other manufacturers just because of the size. Sounds stupid, no ??

Pros: The ram itself is good however .... read the CONS. Buy this ram direct from Kingston.com.. you will see the price is MUCH better than Neweggs!

Cons: Newegg's price increase is a rip off. In this case, it's best to buy the sticks separetly instead. Do NOT buy this particular kit (pair). I tried to let Newegg know of this concern but Newegg e-mailed me back and can't do anything about it. Totally ignored the problem as usual.

Other Thoughts: Newegg failed to research this problem the correct way because if you look at the same kit but in the 4gb range the 4gb is actually CHEAPER! If you research the ram separetly you will see the HUGE price difference. Better to purchase 1 at a time and increase the qty to 2 or more inside your cart.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to use in a Foxconn G31MXP-K motherboard and it works great. I have always had good luck with Kingston RAM in various builds and repair jobs, so I continue to buy this brand more than others.

Pros: This is the first dual channel set I have bought in a while and it works perfectly. Just popped it in the motherboard and had no problems starting up. Voltage settings were ok as well which required absolutely no tinkering of the bios.

Cons: I understand that Kingston has reduced the size of memory modules which is ok but I had a little bit of trouble inserting the each stick in the slots because of the small size.

Other Thoughts: Works just like it is supposed to without any problems and I couldn't have been more pleased with this set. I already had 2GB installed onto the mobo but decided to add 2 more gigs to beef up performance since I had a lot of programs running. Unfortunately I am running Vista 32-bit so the pc will not recognize over 3.3 gigs due to address limitations. I am planning to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7 though when it comes out.

Pros: i am impressed, its low profile which surprized me, especially in low profile or ATX cases, runs VERY cool, NO external cooling required however this is not a con, you need to put it in slot 1 and 3 in ECS mobos to make kick into DC mode, this has been the norm in all mid or high end mobos i know of, i also run win ProX64 legit i own a copy i bought last yearit runs on a WD Raptor 174 GIG raid array, windows is still stupid if you dont have afloppy it oent install the drivers, and the bios wont see the RAID array on XP64 install very fristrating

Cons: i wish it was SLI, rumor has it that with the current bios update it will run 1066 Mhz mode, that is bothersome, why should i run and deal with that, blowing a bios is sweating bullets

Other Thoughts: i wish it had XFire, aslo it is my exclusive gaming machine, WOW, FC, FC2, CoD, every STEAM game, just flat out hauls the mail. with the issues of world of warcraft in bed with nVidia i am kinda stuck, ATI video cards will max out at 60FPS this one averages 255FPS, so if you run WoW plan to budget for a good nVidia card i will be putting in 8 gig in this month

Pros: Its Cheap

Cons: Is not working in DUAL CHANNEL mode, (could be a virgin MB bios) also it is short and that could cause the ram not to cool as good as standard sized ram

Pros: This memory is super tiny, I didn't know DIMM's could come this small! I was suprised at how well this ram overclocks stable. Had it to 940 so far but my CPU clock frequency is maxxed out now.
Overall it's a great deal for the price.

Cons: No heat sinks, but then again they don't really get that hot if you have a decently ventilated case. CL is 6, which isn't that great for the size/speed of this memory.

Other Thoughts: If you just have an AM2 cpu and can only run up to ddr2 800 anyway this memory is great. I got it for $21 shipped, but that sale has gone away now I see. If you have an AM2+ cpu don't bother with this and go straight for 1066 ram. I just bought a set of G. Skill 1066 ram with heat sinks 2X1gb for $32 and free shipping. I ended up donating this ram to my brother's PC which has my old 4600+ dual core in it.

Pros: Very low profile, very fast, kingston name, it works.

Cons: Like another guy said it's kinda hard to get out of the case it comes in, I too was worried it was going to break because the sticks are so small.
I also had to manually change the speed in the Bios, came up at 260mhz speed. Changed it, no problem now running full 400mhz.

Other Thoughts: Went from PC4200 to this PC6400, same 2X1gb. Noticeable speed increase which I was shocked to see.
For $21 with free shipping you can't beat that deal. Should have bought 2 sets!

Pros: low-profile! Great for computers with space-management needs or if you’re on a budget. Good buy for the money.

Cons: This RAM can be very finicky. At first the computer would not boot with both sticks in at the same time, but after some changes in the BIOS I was able to use both sticks. So far everything remains stable, but I am surprised as I rarely have problems with Kingston modules. Maybe I just got a bad pair?

Pros: Great, fast and cheap. Three words I like to hear. Added this to 2 previous sticks of the same memory and worked flawlessly. 4gb runs vista great.

Cons: The sticks are really really small, and they were hard to get into my Mobo. After a few minutes though I was successful.

Pros: First of all, this stuff works as promised. Slapped into a board and boom, saw all the timings without any hesitation.

Other Thoughts: WOW, did they shrink their ram? Umm, Kingston I think is feeling the money pinch, they shrunk the physical height of the ram, to.... well.. Half. Other Thoughts: I got this to upgrade my computer from 2 GB to 4GB, only to learn that Windows XP only allows a maximum of 3.5 gigs. I can't get a refund because of the return policy for this particular product, so that sucks. Newegg's service was excellent though.

On another note, I don't know why Newegg continues to deal with DHL. They are, without a doubt, the WORST parcel service available. It took nearly a week to get my package, adn they provided no tracking updates whatsoever.

Pros: Good ram, easy to install, unfortunately it's only reading 1.93gb of ram instead of the full 2gb. I'm too lazy to try to swap it out for anything. I'll just wait till I upgrade to 4gb for this board and see what happens then.

Other Thoughts: Newegg did not ship same day even though I paid the extra for rush, which they said they would refund if it didn't go out same day or next business day, which they still haven't over a week ago.

It's low profile, if that matters to anyone. No impact for normal users, but might be a bonus in a special application.

Pros: RMA'ed this model of Kingston RAM because one of the sticks was DOA. Purchased same model and this time worked like a champ. Kingston redeemed itself with flying colors. Probably due to shipping damage so can't fault Kingston.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have already liked Kingston for it's reliability and stability in memory modules. In the 10+ years I have been using Kingston memory, this was the FIRST time that I ever got a DOA memory stick. I will still recommend HIGHLY to anyone that Kingston is a brand you can trust with this record backing it up.

Rating + 3 Kingston or Newegg?


Pros: When buying RAM, I've always had pretty good luck with Kingston, and feel fairly safe with it. It's easy to install. Doesn't cost a fortune and normally will last forever.

Cons: I bought this RAM for a BIOSTAR Combo 6P2. It wasn't supposed to be rocket science, nor was it supposed to take me to the cleaners. I put both sticks in, booted the computer, and half my RAM was missing. By trial and error, I figured out that one stick was bad. BUT, being that this is a dual channel kit, I cannot return just the bad stick. Newegg/Kingston would rather I be without any RAM than have half my RAM. Hmmmmm

Other Thoughts: It seems to me that there should be a way to return the bad RAM stick when it's just part of the dual channel kit that is bad. Newegg's solution is to be without a working computer, or go purchase more RAM until they can replace the one bad stick. That doesn't work for me.

Rating + 3 Mixed Feelings


Pros: Great memory for the price. $28.99 for 2 GB of Kingston Memory AND Free Shipping? You get a low price and the Kingston brand name rolled into one.

Cons: Well, at first I thought it was the motherboard because it wouldn't POST (No BEEPS), but knowing how to troubleshoot, I took out the memory to see if it would BEEP. It did. I put one in and it booted. I put the other one in, no POST. I tried it in both DIMM slots and same result. Basically I got one bad stick of memory.

Other Thoughts: I give it a rating of 3 because ANYTHING could have happened. Damaged at the plant, during shipping, etc. I am going to order this SAME memory again and see if I get better results. Will keep you updated.

Rating + 5 DDR2 800? 2GB? 1.8v? Look no further


Pros: It is literally impossible for these sticks to be any lower-profile. You know the little arms that click the RAM into place on your motherboard? They are taller than this RAM. I have a little case, even for HTPC, so that's a good thing. Wait, that's always a good thing.

Oh by the way, they work. In slots stuck at 1.84v (thanks GIGABYTE).

Cons: ...PCB looks cool, right? Like that movie Tron.

Be careful taking them out of the package. There are tiny plastic bubbles in the packinging holding them in place - maybe try to destroy them with a metal tool first rather than jimmying the sticks out and potentially damaging them.

Other Thoughts: You don't need fast RAM. Google it.

You don't need heatsinks. Google it.

Vista Home Premium 32-bit, doing surfing, a game or two, music composition, office, haven't hit virtual memory once.

Pros: This is the cheapest 2GB of RAM I have ever seen, and from Kingston. What a Plus! Runs exactly as advertised. Slim profile of the actual RAM is nice as well. Shipped nicely wrapped, and fairly quick for USPS.

Cons: I bought this RAM to go up to 4.0GB. but it only went up to 3.25GB of RAM. But this is because of my computer setup, so its not a big deal more is better, no matter what the allocation.

Pros: Low price for DDR2 800 dual channel + free shipping + Kingston pretested security = good system RAM.

Cons: Latency could be better, but that would have cost more. Haven't seen any low-rise RAM sticks before, so I was kinda afraid of snapping them unintentionally (probably unfounded).

Other Thoughts: My system only recognizes the RAM as running at approx 387MHz = 774MHz DDR2 (not the full 800). Probably just a motherboard issue, I'll try clocking it up higher later on when I have the free time.

Pros: Works with no issues, just throw them in and boot up. Just what I wanted, quality ram running without overclocking for my dvr. I just needed something reliable that would last forever. I have Kingston value ram in both my old computers, one 5 years old and another one 7 years old, and still running strong. I have never had any issues with their value ram!

Cons: None, 2 gigs of ram for this price? I remember when 2 gigs was like $250 when I bought my old stuff.

Pros: Good quality (Kingston), fast(PC2 6400), cheap (yep), plentiful (2GB is all I need).

The manual for my MSI mobo actually lists 4 memory manufacturers that the mobo has been tested with - Kingston is one of them.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: - I've messed around with memory from second-tier manufacturers - too many weird problems. Stick with one of the major names, even for a few bucks more, and you'll save yourself some grief.

- Running this in MSI K9NGM4-F V.2 mobo, EVGA 8800GTS 320MB, AMD64 X2 4600, Corsair 450W PS. Fast, cheap setup.
