Pros: Great price, Great brand
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Installed in a snap, and both modules worked perfectly. My old thinkpad R40e has finally got some life in it.

Dell Inspiron 1100 1G upgrade
Pros: Great reviews for working in the 1100 and memory I have used before.
Cons: But didn't work in mine.
Other Thoughts: Replaced 2 128s with the 2 new 512s and would not load. It would work one at a time or with one 128 so it was good memory.

Worthy upgrade for Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop
Pros: Purchased 1Gig of CORSAIR memory (2 DIMM's) and received the package in less than a week :). Recommended memory upgrade for a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop. The new memory has been working for the last 2-weeks.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Purchased this for a friend's Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop that had only 256Meg of memory that is running Windows XP very slowly. The 1Gig memory upgrade made a HUGE improvement to the laptop's performance -- like a new PC.
*** INSTALL NOTE *** Ensure that the memory module SNAPS into place. You should hear and feel a click when it is done right. If the module is not correctly in place, the laptop will not start and you won't get an error message.
This was the first time I installed memory in a laptop. Although I followed the procedure from Dell for installing memory in the laptop, I did not notice the module module was not seated properly the first time or the 2nd time. It was after the 3rd attempt of swapping the old memory and new memory did I noticed the little click. -- End-of-Note.
Now, if I can also find a deal on a hard drive upgrade for the laptop...

Very Good Upgrade
Pros: Price was right, reliable name and worked right from the word go! I give it a definite must have for older laptops. See "Other Thoughts" below.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Upgraded an old 2005 HP Pavilion ze4500 (ze4560us) when the original HDD failed. Between two of these and a new WD HDD 80GB HDD also from Newegg, made this old timer laptop just fly!!! Well worth the small price of it all.

Perfect for older laptops
Pros: It's plug and play. Quite litterally. I installed this ram on a Dell Inspiron 4150 running a 1.8 ghz processor. It was running 256mb of ram, now I have it up to 640mb and it makes a huge difference.
Cons: There are no cons, it's Corsair.
Other Thoughts: If you need to update an old laptop and don't want to update the bios for it, then get this ram. Most older laptops will recognize it right away without any problems

Pros: It works. Its RAM, what more would you want? Good price.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Got it the next day. Helps my ancient Gateway laptop run a little faster. Went from 512MB to 1GB.

Dell D600 upgrade
Pros: A nice increase in speed for a Dell D600 that had 512 ram initally now has 1gig. Easy install and quick to boot up. This is my second purchase of this ram. Also works great in a Dell Inspiron 5100.
Cons: None....
Other Thoughts: DHL/USPS shipping has to go. Over 2 weeks to go 250 miles is sub par.

Saved my old laptop
Pros: Works great, had some Apacer memory go bad on me, used Corsair to fix it all up. Apacer won't replace it either, never buy their memory.
Cons: None, works perfectly just as it is supposed to.
Other Thoughts: Don't buy Apacer! Stick with Corsair and their lifetime warranty!

Good RAM
Pros: Good RAM worked right away, ran memset and no errors, bought it for Toshiba Qosmio x305-725 crossing fingers that 8 gigs would work and did, if its good enough for NASA its good enough for me
Cons: Not really con but the price is reasonable, has Hyundia Electronics chips also not a con but i don not know too much about the different manufacturers, it works so i am happy
Other Thoughts: Its been about 3 weeks with the RAM so far so good, ran my apps that are RAM hogs and open a file that is 200 mb file and opened a lot faster with 8 gigs rather than 4 gigs of ram

Great memory
Pros: Good price, easy to install, very reliable and stable. It's exactly what I expected.
Cons: it's not free?
Other Thoughts: Can't go wrong here. If you need more memory for an older laptop, get it. It will breathe new life into your laptop. Stop torturing yourself with insufficient RAM.

Nice upgrade
Pros: Nice upgrade for an older machine. Good packaging. It's the pop closed type, not the shred your hands prying at the package type.
Cons: None.

Just the thing for a Dell 5100!
Pros: Read several other reviews of this RAM for the Dell 5100 and as the others said it was perfect for this machine. My 5 year old Dell was dog slow with just 512mb ram. So I upped it to 1Gig and boy, what a difference! Once installed it was reccognized right away and we were off! Crucial's web site calls for a PC2700 chip and others had issues with that. So stick to this Corsair chip in the 5100 and you will be happy.
Cons: None!

Love the Corsair
Pros: Works great. Corsair peace of mind.
Cons: um...
Other Thoughts: When I have the choice I choose Corsair. I know it sounds like a sales pitch, but I just don't trust some of the El Cheapo brands. I want to make sure my customers don't have any more problems.

It works
Pros: It works in my Dell Inspiron 5100. Second time purchasing this brand. No problems...Be aware for these types on laptops, the Kingston memory may not work. Tried it and had to send it back. These Corsair Value Select gets the job done
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: Stick with the Corsair if you are upgrading the Dell 5100 series.....

Great Buy
Pros: Great ram bought two of these to upgrade an Dell Latitude C640. The laptop recognized the ram with no problems and it show up in the bios as having all 1GB of ram after install. Really brought the life back into an old laptop that was running on only 256MB of ram.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Great price and Egg Saver shipping was faster this time. Only took 5 business days.

It Works
Pros: What can I say, it either works or it doesn't. Mines worked like a charm. I just poped it in my old HP Pavilion ze4400 laptop and it reconized it right away.
Cons: NOTHING(so far). Only time can tell.
Other Thoughts: I was able to improve my RAM from 256 MB(Able to use 192 MB)of RAM to 768 MB(Able to use 702 MB) of RAM. This is an AWESOME little RAM and if u have an old laptop like mines, I HIGHLY recommend it.

Great product
Pros: Have a quite old IBM A31 running XP laptop that had only 512mb or RAM and was getting bogged down on Lotus notes if running other APS. Decided to spend the $40 to double RAM to max 1GB. Boy what a difference. No more issues running Notes with other apps. I fully expect to get another year or two easy now out of this laptop. Everything is faster now. Well worth the money to me.
Cons: None.

Completely Satisfied
Pros: Cheap, got it fast from NewEgg, installed and works fine. No issues so far and hopefully none.
Cons: None that I've seen at all.
Other Thoughts: I bought two to revive my wife's old Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop. She'd gotten some BSOD talking about memory issues and while I couldn't prove it was the problem for the cheap price here taking her machine from 680meg to a gig of memory has been great.
Course, the Dell still overheats in about 30 minutes, but hey, I can't expect new memory to fix everything.
Yay for NewEgg and their fast service!

Pros: -Cheap -Reliable
Cons: -NONE
Other Thoughts: I added this module to an '04 iBook G4, taking it from the built-in 256MB to 768MB. Really gave the laptop a new lease on life. Used to constantly access virtual ram just to do simple tasks. Now, it runs like a champ. No problems.

Well not so much
Pros: Cheap, worked great........notice I said workED
Cons: Only lasted about a month.
Other Thoughts: Had my original ram go out, ordered this, got it fast. Worked great for about a month then boom dead. Did my own trouble shooting, and thought it was the ram, got the computer checked by a pro, and had the same results. I may have just gotten a lemon chip, it hard to say.

Very Pleased
Pros: Ordered 2 Corsair 512MB SO-DIMM Memory Modules. I knew exactly what I needed, after through research on the Dell website. Older Dell Latitude C840 simply needed some upgrading. These did the trick.
Cons: None, really. When memory modules work, they simply work.
Other Thoughts: Way To Go ... Newegg!!!
One of the modules was DOA on arrival. I simply went online & requested a RMA number. Absolutely NO problems getting a replacement. Yes, it delayed getting laptop, up & running, but I am NOT complaining. Newegg didn't 'blink an eye' or question me, simply replaced the memory module. I realize that these things happen & Newegg backed it's warranty & guarantee.
I didn't even lower the star rating, due to Newegg's great service. LOVE Newegg.

Sweet business!
Pros: Easy to install & puts more pep in my computer's step. Do the research to make sure you're buying the right type of ram though as I see some bad reviews from people who probably didn't do that.
Cons: I upgraded from 512mb and thought I would see drastic improvement by doubling ram but I wouldn't say it was drastic. Definitely an improvement though.

Works great in older laptops.
Pros: I had two separate older laptops, a Compaq (HP) ze5500 series, and a Compaq NX9010. Both of these are 7+ years old, and both of them came with Compaq branded Samsung PC2100 RAM (2 x 256mb and 1 x 256mb, respectively).
Before buying these, I've actually tried multiple different aftermarket RAM modules in each that did NOT work, but these chips dropped right in and worked 100% right out of the package. Took literally 30 seconds to install with a small Phillips screwdriver.
Come in fairly nice plastic retail packages (see cons below).
If you want to rejuvenate an older laptop, these chips are a good bet.
I've seen similar chips a *bit* cheaper elsewhere, but as I've learned the hard way, a few extra bucks cost upfront was WELL worth it for NewEggs fast shipping and strong warantee.
Cons: Plastic packages were not metallic/static electricity proof. I don't know how much this really matters. . .in my case, it didn't make any difference since both chips ran just fine.
I think fears of damaging chips with static electricity are overstated, but for what its worth every other memory module I've ever bought came in an anti-static bag.
Other Thoughts: The older laptops I put these won't handle more than 1gb each, so I dropped in two new chips each to max them out.
The difference in usability between 256kb and 1gb is like night and day. A 256k machine takes forever to load up a modern browser and then doesn't run it that well. It also chokes trying to run more than one application at a time.
With 1gb, the same 7-8 year old laptop is like a totally different machine, running everything I need it to, faster, and with multiple apps at once.
There *is* an improvement in performance from 512 to 1024Mb, though its not nearly so dramatic.
I'd say if you have an older laptop that you've given up on, you'll probably be amazed how much better it will run with just ONE extra 512Mb chip in there (let alone two).

Performance Improvement Noted!
Pros: My Toshiba Satellite A25-S2792 loves the new memory! The process to exchange the two stock 256MB sticks with the two new Corsair 512MB sticks was a no-brainer. The added memory was recognized immediately by XP Pro SP2. Overall improved performance is VERY noticeable. This has to be the easiest and least expensive thing to do to add life (and spunk!) to an aging laptop.
The Corsair memory upgrade was definitely money well spent!
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: None.

Works Great in Gateway
Pros: Really makes those old laptops run good. So much better than the 128MB stick they came with running XP Pro. Now my wife won't hardly touch my desktop, and that's a good thing too. No worries, mate.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: At first I was going to use the 128MB with the 512MG stick, but after trying 1GB, it is staying that way.

Quite amazed
Pros: Rejuvenated an older Toshiba Satellite A10
Cons: none

Works Fine
Pros: Too easy to install into an aging Sony VAIO PCG-K15 notebook. Warranty is also a plus. In this particular Sony laptop model make sure that you replace the ram with the same speed of memory that was originally installed. Read my "other thoughts" section for details.
Typical Corsair quality. I've been using Corsair for years and knew it wouldn't let me down!
Cons: Price. Seems computer product companies are charging a premium for aging, older, or outdated computer parts. But, I suppose they have to maintain supplies for the old stuff too... But, it still seems wrong to charge premium prices for slow aging memory styles. The Smithsonian will probably call me one day for samples of old technology for their museum! Woo Hoo...maybe by then I will have a gold mine with these old parts!
Other Thoughts: Read many reviews regarding replacement memory for Sony VAIO PCG-K15 laptops. Many people ordered the faster DDR 333 (PC2700) or DDR 400 (PC3200) memory to upgrade their laptop. It appears that the laptop wouldn't recognize the entire amount of ram... They indicated that they installed 1 gigabyte but the computer only recognized 512mb. So, they had to ship the ram back to Newegg and get the slower DDR 266 (PC2100) ram. Lucky for me I did my homework and saved myself some return postage and restocking fee! Thanks to the reviewers for providing this information. In the past I have upgraded to faster memory for laptop upgrades and they worked. However, that seems to work better in computers using DDR2 ram and not DDR ram.

Installed in compaq 9010 laptop
Pros: Inserted it and booted it up; doesn't get any easier. BIOS recognized it and I replaced the hard drive at the same time and loaded windows vista. Much improved performance.
Cons: none

Good RAM
Pros: Put this in an ancient laptop, and it did improve the performance, but obviously this is no DDR2. The laptop is limited to 1 GB RAM and it went up from 256. Significant performance.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Corsair has never let me down!

Works GREAT!
Pros: My memory came in today and I was able to grade the memory from 512mb to 1gb. Doubling the memory in my HP laptop notebook made a difference. It's worth using again. No conflicts with this brand memory in my HP. The price was great and well worth it.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Worth the purchase.

Works in Compaq 2135US
Pros: 2 x 512 MB modules do work with a Compaq 2135US notebook. Brought an older 256MB notebook back to life.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Thank you for everyone who posted what models worked with this memory. It helped me decide the Corsair over the Kingston which apparently doesn't work with the 2135US

FInal failure

Cons: Final failure of memory chips at ~5.4 hours resulted in an arcing sound that ultimately hosed my hard drive and took over a week to rebuild my laptop.

One good, one not
Pros: Both sticks plugged into my Dell Inspiron 5500 and worked - at first.
Cons: After a coule of weeks I started getting blue screens. I tried a number of software fixes as indicated by Windows (drivers, antivirus, etc) before going to OCZ website and downloading Memtest. One stick generated many errors, the other gave none. Returned bad unit to OCZ for replacement.
Other Thoughts: If you have a Dell 5100, be sure to update the BIOS before going beyond 512 MB of memory. This is the first memory I have ever had go bad. Many blue screens with different supposed causes may indicate a memory problem.

Excellent Memory
Pros: The memory works as advertised. I purchased the 1 GB (2 x 512 MB) of memory for my 8 year old HP Pavilion ze5000 laptop. I'm running XP pro with all current updates. The jump from 512 MB to 1 GB is noticable when running most programs. This type of ram isn't in as much demand as once was and consequently the price keeps dropping.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking to get a little more life out of your computer, this is the way to go. I looked at the different makes and read the reviews ahead of time. Corsair is definitely a top tier memory manufacturer. Their quality is tough to beat.

Failure of 3rd set
Pros: NONE
Cons: 3rd set of memory modules failed at 5.5 hours just as before forcing a reboot; NewEgg indicates the modules are not eligible for refund or exchange so I guess I am out the $40 as I do not wish to deal with Corsair again!

Installation of third set
Pros: Installed the 3rd set in my 2135US Compaq Presario. When they work, they greatly improve performance; however!.....
Cons: ......However, the new memory modules failed at about 1.3 hours in the same manner as before. Blue screen of death, core dump error message and a forced reboot. The memory modules test ok with 'CheckIt' scans. The computer has run now for 4 hours without another failure. I will let it run continuously doing scans to see if it fails again.
Other Thoughts: Given these problems, I definitely would not purchase this brand of memory again for my 2135US Compaq Presario (2100 series) laptop. I am 30 days downline and still having to revert back to my old 2X256mb micron memory modules to do any real work.
Manufacturer Response:I am sorry you are having difficulties. I fyou have not already done so, please contact Technical Support so that we can help resolve this.

Maybe better luck with next set
Pros: None so far
Cons: I promptly received 2x512mb modules; installed easily in my 2135US Compaq Presario. They booted quickly and they performed well for about 2 hours. At two hours they started to fail by forcing a reboot by pulling the power out from under it. The computer would fail in the same manner every 20 min to an hour. I sent the memory modules back to Corsair. They replaced them in about a week and I received them in about another week. The new modules started to fail at 60 seconds flat forcing a reboot about every minute to 10 minutes. I sent Corsair's replacement modules back to NewEgg and NewEgg has sent out another 2 more sets of the same part number. Heres hoping the third replacement works better than the first two!

Excellent upgrade for old laptop!!
Pros: Easily installed into dell inspirion 1100..Laptop feels unbelivably faster...I went from 256 mb ram to 640 with this...I just had to remove one 128mb stick and add the 512 mbram and kept one 128mb in there. that's a 250% memory increase for $20. I'll consider buying another to make it an even 1 gig but really it's not needed for what I do on this old laptop for slideshows, music, and pictures.
specs. dell inspirion 1100 2.4 ghz celeron win XP (now) 640mb ram!!!
Cons: absolutely none...
Other Thoughts: this memory was 10 bucks more through Dell and it was a generic brand plus I KNEW i would get it faster from Newegg.com then dell. thanks! wish I would've upgraded laptop sooner b/c it really is like twice as fast now.

Awesome!
Pros: This was a great upgrade for my HP ZE4315US laptop. It previously had one stick of 256MB (minus video ram was 192MB for the OS).
I forgot how nice a RAM upgrade could be!
Cons: None to speak of!
Other Thoughts: Before I had this RAM installed, I was running Xubuntu on this laptop and using it to stream Internet radio sometimes. If I was lucky, I could stream the radio AND also use Pidgin for instant messenging.
Now it's so responsive I might install regular Ubuntu. =]

Great Ram and price
Pros: PRICE!!!!! easy install in my laptop and was quick on delivery.
Cons: none...............yet
Other Thoughts: I have an inspiron 8200 that runs ubuntu and wanted to give it a little pep. went from 256 to 1 gig and couldn't be happier. If u can afford the money it is well worth the upgrade to make an older laptop wort using again. Also runs virtualbox for those old win programs now

Memory makes an old laptop sing
Pros: Memory came is good, secure packaging. The Egg-Saver shipping was prompt. I ran memtest on the memory - no problems. I have run the laptop with the memory upgrade everyday for many hours - no problems. I could not find any PC 2100 at a local store. If I had, I am sure the price would have been higher than I paid at newegg
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I have a HP Pavalion ze5500 (specifically, a ze5568cl) with a Mobile Pentium 4 2.66, that my aunt purchased new, ran the battery down, then put aside for many years, so it was basically unused. I started using it, but with 512 MB of memory, I was severely restricted in what I could do...I could bare run one application much less two. With 1024 MB of memory (2x512), the difference was great, and the computer came alive. I could then run iTunes and a web browser or a mail agent. Actually, what I did was start using Opera for it's low memory foot print, then in the living room, watched iTunes podcasts, hulu.com shows and the like. Very happy!

excellent customer service
Pros: Best customer service! I used the memory configurator and it was actually the wrong memory. I discovered when it arrived, called customer service and in less than 5 minutes I had my RMA approval, and shipping label. Reordered and got my correct memory the next day. Thomas was very helpful, quick and efficient, and friendly. The new correct memory is making my 5 year old Sony laptop work great! Thank you NEWEGG! I will be a returning customer.
Cons: none, except the memory configurator was incorrect, but was remedied with GREAT customer service.

If you have to, it works
Pros: purchased 2 sticks to max out hp nx9010. System booted fine and it made a difference
Cons: Older memory is just too expensive. On the same order I purchased Kingston 4gb kit of ddr2 667 for only $4.00 more!
Other Thoughts: If your stuck with an older laptop, I guess its cheaper to drop $40.00 to try to speed it up, instead of buying a new laptop. It did make a difference in the nx9010 but I really wish the user would have just delt with the laptop until we could have purchased a replacement one
As always, feel free to gmail my nickname with questions or comments

DELL 1100 good with 2 chips
Pros: I have been running two of these in the DELL 1100 for a year and a half with no problem. Fine memory for these DELL 1100
Cons: None - very happy
Other Thoughts: Having updated the BIOS to A32, I noticed that it would accept more memory using the program PC wizard 2008. DELL says it is maxed at 1gig, but the program said it will take 2 gig. I found some multi speed PNY 1 gig chips here, cause NEWEGG is the best, and have been running a week with 2 gig and extremely happy with increased performance. The new chips have breathed more life into an older laptop, not ready for VISTA yet, but very happy running XP sp3

DELL 1000 good to go
Pros: Plug and play with BIOS A08. I had ordered it from DELL originally with 512mb, One 256mb chip is fixed, I removed the second 256mb and replaced with this one. It now recognizes 701mb. A nice improvement over 512mb
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I have read on a few forums where folks have put in a 1gig chip, but haven't tried that yet

Good value & compatibility
Pros: Completely compatible with Dell Inspiron 5100. Noticeable performance increase running Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy). Replaced stock 256 MB (x2) [512 MB total} with 512 MB (x2) [1024 MB total] Corsair, and system response is faster, swap usage is minimal now, even with XP Pro virtual machine w/VirtualBox.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Great value & addition to aged laptop hardware. I had to install 1 module at a time, boot, then shutdown, install the 2nd, boot, then complete for system memory upgrade. (Installing both modules at once caused laptop boot failure -- would not power on)

Works great with HP/Compaq nc4000
Pros: Works well with this picky laptop. Allowed me to max my RAM at a very economical price.
Cons: Lower bus speed required for 512MB chips as the higher PC2700 version does not work with this laptop even though specs say it should. Higher quality memory (ie more expensive) sticks are compatible at PC2700 speed. 256MB version will work at either speed (PC2100/PC2700).
Careful, Corsair memory selection tool recommends the faster one, but at least for this laptop nc4000, it will not work. Ok, now that I've gotten this version.
Other Thoughts: Shipping amounts are ridiculous to Hawaii. For a pair of these chips, it costs just as much to ship as to pay for one stick.

Dell 5100 laptop, works, no issues
Pros: It works, where others might have issues based on research.
Cons: No issue with the memory, the laptop is showing it's age
Other Thoughts: This made this laptop good enough for the kids and that was our intent, no blazing speed here, but way better than the 256m that it had prior to putting 2, 512's on it.

Perfect
Pros: Price, performance, Neweggs awesome customer service! Worked perfect with my picky Compaq Presario.
Cons: First stick did not work. Probably not a problem with the chip, but my mailman. He shoved 2 pounds of s*** in my 1 pound mailbox. I don't think the problem was with the chip or manufacturer. ****NONE****
Other Thoughts: I have a Compaq Presario laptop that does not work with most of the RAM suggested with the original literature. This one worked great. Newegg shipped out my replacement for the damaged RAM immedeiately. I had it almost 24 hours after contacting customer service (that was 3 day UPS service?). Thanks for your exceptional service!

Ehh
Pros: Cheap, packaging was easy to open
Cons: I bought this for an older laptop, an HP ze4560us. I honestly think it ran better with the 512 (2x 256 chips) I originally had in there. The video skips now, it's slower loading and running. I even replaced the HDD on it too and nothing made it go much faster. I even messed with the shared video memory to fix this issue. I ran them both separately so they both work. I would RMA them, but I'm getting sick of RMAing and having to pay 10 bucks to send it to them.
Other Thoughts: I'm not an idiot when it comes to computers, I've tried everything to make this thing run faster.

Dell Inspiron 8200 Memory Upgrade
Pros: It was a snap to add this memory to my Dell Inspiron 8200. Just snapped out the old 128 MB modules, added the 2x512 MB modules, and it was recognized immediately on reboot.
Cons: Packaging is really hard to get into.

Amazed by this product
Pros: I put 2 of these sticks into my Compaq Presario 2100. Anyone with basic laptop knowledge knows this PC was not a stellar unit. I reformatted my entire PC before I placed this inside. The RAM perform spectacular. It made this Laptop amazingly faster from the moment I turned it on. I thought this Laptop was a doorstop for awhile there, until I took a chance and purchased this RAM. The PC recognized both sticks immediately, unlike the 1GB I tried last fall. The processor did not like the 1GB stick. Both of these are more than what I expected. Would tell anyone with this PC to upgrade to 2-512Mhz stick for a great relief.
Cons: I bought this last Sunday when the price was $22.99 per stick. Heck, it's worth what I paid for the performance I got.
Other Thoughts: Maybe I am becoming the Computer Geek . . .

Sweet! Major improvement!
Pros: I bought this to improve my Compaq Laptop 2500 from 256mb of RAM to 1 gig (two sticks of 512mb) and after an instant boot performance was amazingly faster. Before it was an issue, I would have to turn the computer on and do something else for about a half hour for it to fully boot. Now it took about.. a minute or so.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: For 40 bucks was great! Put new life into my old computer. Shipping was great, (Rush Order, also bought new RAM for my HP Mini)

Only RAM to work in Dell Inspiron 1100
Pros: If you have a Dell Inspiron 1100, you will have major problems finding RAM that actually works. The Corsair actually did. Thanks to all the others who wrote reviews affirming this basic fact!
Cons: none

Thinkpad solution
Pros: Tested with IBM Thinkpad T30, A31, A31p. Will work with many other P4-mobile based Thinkpads from the same era.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Get 1GB modules instead. Contrary to IBMs documentation, the T30, A31, etc can handle 1GB sticks for a 2GB max with NO problems. Cheaper, more flexible to get the bigger chips, which I do now.

HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!
Pros: Works perfectly in my Dell Inspiron 1100. Install took less than 2 minutes and was plug and go. UPS delivery in 2 days. Upping memory from 256 to 640 made a big difference in an old laptop.
Cons: Even though there were alot of successful reviews of this memory in an 1100, I still had my doubts about compatability. I should have bit the bullet and got 2 sticks instead of just the one.
Other Thoughts: I've wanted to get a laptop for some time, but couldn't put it in my budget. I found this laptop in a pawn shop for a decent price. I knew I'd have to upgrade some parts when I bought it. Now the computer is usable for e-mail, documents, and internet. Only prob is I have to use a USB dongle for wireless, but I guess that is life with an old laptop.
My next project is to replace the 20 gig hard drive with a new one (already ordered thru Newegg yesterday, just waiting for "BROWN" to deliver). From the reviews I've read, it should work fine (probably better than the OEM drive).
