Avoid this ram
Pros: When it was working.. It ran great!
Cons: Started flaking out after about 8 months. Constant BSOD's on Vista. All 8gb are garbage. Memtest86+ found thousands of errors within an hour of testing.
Other Thoughts: I decided to go back to Mushkin. I will never use Crucial again.

Good memory
Pros: Had it for 15 months. Performed well on my previous XP Pro and Vista Ultimate OS. Performing well on my Windows 7 Ultimate. Will buy another stick to reach 5GB ^.
Cons: I don't like the yellow heat spreader. Hope they make memory w/ colored heat spreader/ LED that matches the lights in my computer.
Other Thoughts: I don't know why the stick die on some people. Maybe because it was overclocked/ overheated?

Yep, they Died like the others
Pros: Warranty
Cons: Died just like the other reviewers. Had a set of 4x 2GB running for a year and a half. Have read the reviews on Crucial.com and having problems just like everyone else.
Tested in a second system and it wouldn't boot up either.

Crucial STOLE my memory!
Pros: None whatsoever.
Cons: Died after 6 months, sent it in on a RMA, got a package back, 'BUT, I left it sit, as it was working well with the old 2x1gig junk I had laying around. About 6 months or so later, I went to put it in, and the package they sent me, HAD ONE, 1, piece of 2 gig Ballistix, NOT TWO. I sent them two, I got back ONE. And, after this long, there is NO way, they will NEVER give me back the missing piece of memory. Was supposed to be TWO pieces of 2 Gig Ballistix. I wilil NEVER deal with these GOOFS again!
Other Thoughts: Do NOT buy this junk, It goes bad at the 6 mo. point, as referenced by nearly ALL the reviews you'll read here, AND, they like to KEEP your memory, SAVES money I guess. STAY AWAY, Far FAR away! I HOPE you read this Crucial, and take to heart. Your name in the memory industry, is taking a REALLY hard hit, and, that hammer JUST keeps getting BIGGER! You've lost a Great deal of your customer base JUST through these reviews. People DO read them, I BUY based on Reviews, and, as far as I'm concerned, YOU DO NOT EXIST!

Pros: Works well with my 2 1/2 year old AM2 development workstation. Upgrading from 2GB to 8GB was a real treat.

5-6 months in I get a constant BSOD
Pros: None. When your RAM dies half a year after purchase, there's nothing positive to say about it.
Cons: About 5-6 months after the purchase of the first set, I started getting constant BSOD in Vista. I replaced the RAM with the old 2x1GB I had, also Crucial Ballistix RAM, and everything worked fine again.
So I RMA'd the dead RAM and got a replacement. Another 5-6 months later and I've got two dead sticks of RAM, again. So I put in the old 2x1GB and everything worked perfect again. No crashes, no issues at all with the old RAM.
I'm not sure what's wrong with the type of memory Crucial is using in this particular set, but I can see from the previous reviews I'm not the only one with the issue. Two dead sets of RAM within a year is enough to make me write off this company altogether.

Started having issues after abiot 5 months
Pros: They were relatively inexpensive, put 8G in my system.
Cons: After about 5 months of usage (purchased from NewEgg on June of 2009), they are starting to have errors. Windows will randomly BSOD, I reboot and run Memtest and it returns a boatload of errors. I pull the modules and test them one by one and they all pass memtest, reinstalling the entire set and it still passes memtest, until the system has been running for a day or two and Windows starts BSODing again...
Other Thoughts: Since after powering down the system, all modules pass memtest it's impossible to track down the issue to a single module. After seeing that I'm not the only one that is experiencing this issue, I will replace the entire set.

Worked well for 12 months, then died
Pros: Worked very well for almost 12 months
Cons: Started causing random crashes and blue screens of death.
Other Thoughts: I started getting BSODs, sometimes while the computer was idle. Running Microsoft's RAM tester found out many memory errors. Unfortunately the modules died almost on the 12 month anniversary of my buying them, so I'm out of warranty. Even then, I would not want to replace them for the same brand.

Disappointed
Pros: Best "Pro" is the purchase from Newegg, good people.
Cons: Was in the business myself and Crucial was always solid. Having the same problem as the other "cons", stick by stick (4) are going bad one at a time within months of each other. BSOD's in XP-Pro sp-3 in PFN_LIST_CORRUPT which is a memory error.
Other Thoughts: Will not buy Crucial again.

Pros: Cheap! I bought two of these sticks to put in an ASUS M3N72-D AM2+/AM2 board. I have had the system up and running for almost a month now with no problems. If you are looking for low cost ram for basic computing needs this is a good buy. I use the pc for basic gameing and other media type stuff. For the price this ram seems to be performing great.
Cons: None so far.

Problematic
Pros: NONE
Cons: After a few months they intermittantly started to cause blue screens and all kinds of other errors. I have 4 sticks and more than 1 is bad but it is hard to tell which so I am sending them all back. Even reloading a clean OS and a Bios flash did not help. The real gripe is that they appear to work fine for a few days and then the errors start, even at idle!
Other Thoughts: My mistake, I should have stuck with Kingston which never lets me down. I paid twice as much for these, never over clocked the memory, cpu, or board, and got nothing but aggravation.

slightly annoyed
Pros: It worked for the first few months. It was a replacement from Crucial due to an RMA of the previous kit i ordered. No problems from Newegg as they have never disappointed me. i always come here to buy parts for computers i build for others or upgrades on my own computer.
Cons: I've had two kits from Crucial now that have been giving me problems after 4 or 5 months.
Other Thoughts: The first kit I ordered about a year and a half ago then after the first 5 or 6 months I started getting blue screens for various things and also included some for memory management. I tried installing the Windows 7 RC that was downloaded from the Microsoft website and no matter what I did, I always got some error during installation and could never figure out what the problem was until I decided to check the memory and I found out that was the problem. I ran Memtest and got too many errors so I had to move some sticks around and I removed one to finally get the OS to Install. I submitted an RMA on this too. So far in the past year and half I've been disappointed with Crucial memory and i might not order from them again if i continue t have problems.

frustrated
Pros: just got this today in conjuction with a 1 gb version of this same stick, both sticks work fine out of the box, running at 5-5-5-18-23 2t 800 mhz together and with my crucial lanfest 2k7 sticks i purchased here about two years ago
Cons: where are the l.e.d.s??? i thought the ballistix line has them like my lanfest set
Other Thoughts: i hope these sticks dont fail like other people who reviewed crucial's other sets of ram
Manufacturer Response:Hello, for LEDs please look at our Ballistix Tracer lineup. These have activity indicating LEDs on the top and "ground" effects on the bottom. The Lanfest modules were limited edition with only the ground effects.
