Overpriced and high failure rate
Pros: None (see Cons)
Cons: Apparent high failure rate; BSoDs; pricey
Other Thoughts: It's hard to review RAM, since it is probably the one part of a PC's hardware which is most finnicky and difficult to troubleshoot. However, that being said, I purchased two different types of RAM for my office PCs. One brand has given me no trouble at all. However, two PCs received the Crucial Ballistix 4GB Kit (2 x 2GB DDR2 800 CL4) and since that time, both have been prone to BSoDs and numerous memory-specific errors (read/write failures, address violations, etc.).
At first, I was thinking it may just be a faulty RAM stick. But not just one -- all four were bad. I don't seem to recall having problems with Crucial before, so I wonder if this is specific to this particular SKU, but I would highly recommend avoiding these, unless you have money to blow. Buyer beware.

Careful! This is Crucial!
Pros: Ran like a beast, until it died.
Cons: Died after about 9 months of use at low (automatic) speed settings, and less than a month at "recommended" settings.
If you run this at the listed timings, don't expect it to last long at all. This RAM runs HOT.
Other Thoughts: I've got this replaced twice by Crucial, paying for the shipping each time.
Just read other reviews. This stuff kicks the bucket after 3-9 months (depending on usage). All of the good reviews are within short ownership. Give it some time and see. Or better yet, DON'T BUY THIS STUFF.
I'm not sure what happened to Crucial's quality. The "heat spreaders" are glued on! Not only that, they changed all of the new sticks to 8 chip modules instead of 16 chip just to save some cash. Not a big deal until they fail to change any advertisements, pictures, or even the model numbers. They market it as the same RAM!

Very good Mem, BUT!
Pros: -Got at a great price back in Sept, $56.99 CAD and also ran very well with GIGABYTE GA-EP45C-UD3R. -Called Crucial and they are sending me replacements, very good service. Gave card number, they send me new ram, then I just send my faulty ram back later so I'm still up and running.
Cons: -Worked very well up until the last month now I'm getting "data loss or corruption, mysterious intermittent errors and the dreaded BSOD!" When I bought, I saw that others had this issue as well but didn't care for this price it should have been fine. -I would buy again for $57 but not for the listed $114 as of this time.
Other Thoughts: I guess read the reviews and the percentage of RMA stories might give you an idea of your odds of sending back the ram for a replacement or just bad luck for me.

Dead inside a year
Pros: Worked while it lasted.
Cons: Like many others, I had a stick die after about 9 months of use. BSOD's - ran memtest, errors all over the place. Currently awaiting RMA.
THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M USED TO FROM CRUCIAL!!!! ARE YOU LISTENING, CRUCIAL?!

Worked for about 6 months
Pros: Black PCB looks slick, Memtest 86+ ran A-OK the first day I had it, RAM did run at its rated timings for several months...
Cons: ...after which is completely crapped out. My problems started with a few strange visual artifacts that almost had me replacing my graphics card, although I'm glad I didn't (kind of, an HD5850 is pretty tempting). Several BSOD's followed, to the point where I popped in UBCD to run all the usual checks. Memtest 86+ popped up over 200 errors before test 3 kicked in. Definitely a RAM problem. I haven't had to deal with Crucial's RMA process in a number of years, but here's hoping it goes well.
Other Thoughts: The headspreaders on this RAM aren't all that well-built. They don't use any sort of clip design, they literally just appear to be taped/glued onto the IC's.

Absolute Garbage
Pros: Works great for the first few months.
Cons: Goes bad and crashes your system. I just uninstalled my second batch of these memory sticks because total failure. I'm getting them RMA'd by Crucial, but I will most likely get rid of them right away. I've been using Crucial memory for years and I've never had this sort of quality issue. After the first kit took a dive on me (and I didn't have a replacement), I went and bought the same memory from a competitor and it hasn't let me down.
Other Thoughts: I really wish Crucial would just give me some different memory so that I wouldn't have to keep getting these replaced. You would think it would be in their best interest to just give customers a quality product.

Failure
Pros: Great when working, took care of all my needs and more.
Cons: Didn't last long, started failing inside a year.
Other Thoughts: If you buy and they fail expect to have to pay for shipping when you send these dumb things back to crucial they will not cover the charge to take them back.

2 of 4 sticks dead in 10 months
Pros: At the time they were the best performance/price value. Performed well until they died.
Cons: 2 sticks are still going strong, 2 have died. It has been 10 months. I haven't bothered to send them in yet but I'll get around to it this week. No overclocking, high end 800 watt power sup., medium-high end case with great ventilation channels... and they die in less than a year. P5Q-Pro, e8300. I'm not sure why I keep going back to Crucial Ballistics RAM. I had 2 other stickies die on me before these in my last comp.
Other Thoughts: I'm going to see if I can RMA these... but in the future I'm staying the hell away from Crucial Ballistics RAM. I might try some of their other RAM but not the Ballistics line. That's 4 of 6 sticks dying within a year (overall of ballistics). They look great on paper but have really let me down.

Memory Failures Abound
Pros: Memory performs great initially. Price and service are altogether great. Crucial, despite the problems I have had with this memory, has been extremely easy to work with and has excellent technical and sales support.
Cons: Memory seems to die off (lots and lots of memory errors - especially after the RAM has "warmed up") after about 3 months of near-constant use. Crucial has sent me 3 replacement sets of this memory over the last year - all of which have died after ~3 months of use. During this time, I have replaced the power supply and added additional cooling to the case. This leaves the problem as either a motherboard problem, or a memory problem. I am switching over to a different memory now to test if it is the motherboard...

Heat Issues
Pros: Reasonable cost, nice performance while they lasted.
Cons: After about 3 months, like other reviewers, I started experience intermittent memory-related kernel panics, which gradually got more frequent over the period of about a month. These chips run extremely hot, which I believe is contributing to their instability.
Other Thoughts: Used w/GA-EP45-UD3P mb. Have switched to OCZ memory instead, hopefully will have better luck.

DO NOT BUY
Pros: NewEgg service and Crucial service is very good.
Cons: My 1st set died after 6 months. The identical replacement set they sent me died after 4 months. The usual BSOD's and odd behavior ensued. Both sets failed multiple memory diagnostics.
Other Thoughts: I hope Crucial replaces it with regular DDR2 800 instead of the Ballistix this time. I also have a PC with their regular DDR2 800 and it's rock solid.

Another RMA here
Pros: They looked good on paper, and the price was right.
Cons: Both sticks failed on me within 7 months. No overclocking or strange voltages here - I'm running everything strictly stock in a well-cooled case. We'll see how the RMA process goes.

Also RMA'd
Pros: Runs cooler to the touch than previous Ballistix 2GB kit (2.0V vs. 2.2V). Was able to run at 4-4-4-12 timings at stock DDR2 800 speeds on 2.0V...for about 3 months.
Cons: Upgraded from a 2GB kit to this 4GB kit just before MW2 came out. Installed and ran fine at low-latency timings in an ABIT IP35 Pro. Right before Christmas, started having BSOD's, random game crashes and, ultimately, a corrupted OS. My rig is in the basement where it never gets above 16C in the winter and the case is a Coolermaster CM Stacker 830 so cooling is not a problem.
Other Thoughts: I should have known better than to order these given the poor reviews here on Newegg. At half the current price, it looked like a good deal at the time. The old Ballistix kit that I had contained Samsung chips which have been flawless (back to using those now...good thing I kept them). Not sure who makes the chips in these cruddy DIMM's. I was really disappointed that Crucual would put out such poor quality in a supposedly 'premium' product. Stay away from this memory and try something that others have had good luck with.

Requesting an RMA
Pros: Worked for about 13 months. Never overclocked.
Cons: Have to return them for new ones.
Other Thoughts: They ran fine for a while, never caused any problems, but now it is rediculous with what they are doing to me.

Bummed/ Asus M2N32 SLI-deluxe Mobo
Pros: They worked for a while.
Cons: Wasted LOTS of time figuring out the sticks were going out. Replaced TWO times already under warranty. Techies said to set voltage at 2.0, I did and here they are ruining my day again. 3rd time isn't the charm.
Other Thoughts: Giving up on Crucial.

BSODs Galore
Pros: When it runs it does a good enough job. They ran fine for the past 5 months or so.
Cons: I have been having the same problems some others have had. These sticks run too hot and randomly crash my computer. If I MemTest it right away after a crash, I get errors. If they cool down they pass fine but things are still slow. I've been at my wit's end trying to figure out what was wrong with my computer until finally I could get the sticks to fail memory tests, which reaffirmed my initial thoughts.
Other Thoughts: I will be buying a new set. I'd suggest you do the same.

Awesome ram!
Pros: I bought this ram at a store for $75 a few months ago at and it runs GREAT!! It was a big step from the kingston ram i had before. it runs pretty hot, but runs windows 7 ultimate x64 like a ferrari.
Cons: None so far, no BSOD's no dead sticks yet. I take good care of my computer, I turn it off whenever I dont need it so my components will have a longer life
Other Thoughts: I am buying another 4 gb of this same ram and since it runs kind of hot, I might as well but a ram cooler that clips on so I can prevent this awesome ram from dying on me. ESPECIALLY when I'm paying $100 for this. Ram prices are skyrocketing!!

More dead RAM
Pros: High quality look if you're good with the color.
Cons: One stick died within months. I'm finally RMAing this RAM I've owned for a year. I'm sure it's been more than 6 months ago that I had one of the sticks go bad. Unreliable, never overvolted.
Other Thoughts: I'm glad I'm done with DDR2. One bad product won't ruin me for Crucial, but it's clear from the number of bad reviews for this RAM that this is not a wise purchase.

Nice
Pros: Nice Memory, A little trouble putting it in with heatsinks but was able to fix the problem so not much of a con. Runs nice and cool but did not run at timing spec 4-4-4-12, hopefully i can make a few changes to set it right.
Cons: None to major to mention
Other Thoughts: Ive noticed a small change in latency in CoD4 and WoW, everything runs alot faster and smoother then before. Once i have the funds ill most likely purchase more.

Pros: Runs cool, nice style, works.
Cons: none.

Very impressive!
Pros: Reliable and stable even at 1066 mhz with 5-5-5-18 timings and 1.8v! That's pretty good considering I have other memory from a different brand that is PC8500 memory and suppose to run at 5-5-5-18 with 2.0v, but doesn't run stable unless it is 2.1v. I also have another PC8500 from the same brand that is suppose to run at 7-7-7-20 at 2.0v, but doesn't run stable even at 2.2v.
Cons: No cons about the performance and reliability of the memory itself, but I'd feel a whole lot better about the memory if the market prices for memory were like they were back months ago.
Other Thoughts: This memory works better at 1066 than other memory I have that's suppose to work at 1066! I know from experience that not all memory works as advertised and not all people's reviews are reliable, so I recommend finding reviews on the web from sites that have a reputation of doing trustworthy reviews on a variety of computer components. I had found reviews on the web about this memory that I felt were trustworthy so I bought the memory and have been very pleased with it.

Cheap, fast, reliable
Pros: I bought this RAM to couple with an AMD 780G board and an AM3 Athlon II X2. The RAM screams (partly due to the AMD memory controller and HyperTransport). Crucial has the best price point at this speed and in this market (high-end; heat spreaders) and is very compatible and reliable as a brand. Low latency is also a key factor in this RAM's speed.
Cons: One of the sticks had a slight bend in the head spreader. The metal framing on the outer, corner edge was bent outward slightly. This did not affect the heat spreaders or the chips they are attached to. Memory registers as CAS5, not CAS4.
Other Thoughts: Crucial is a good brand to buy when you aren't sure about compatibility. They are widely compatible, even if at times they cost a bit more. In terms of high-speed, cooled RAM, this is a hit.

Unreliable at best
Pros: It will run at 800MHz 4-4-4-12 timings, but requires 2.0V to do so.
Cons: I've had to RMA this kit 3 times now. After the first failure, I stopped running at faster timings. The most recent RMA will take 3 weeks to replace. Luckily I have a smaller 2GB kit around to use in the meantime.
Other Thoughts: The only reason I'm still using the memory is because it's been replaced for free. This will be the last time I purchase or recommend Crucial.

works great
Pros: I have these installed on my Nvidia ION Atom N330 Dual core system. I had 2GB of CL6 DDR2-800 before. With this RAM installed, and the system not using any more resources as before, I can tell the system is much, much faster.
Cons: None

Next time I'll read the negative reviews too.
Pros: Decent price. Snazzy looking heat spreaders.
Cons: I am truly disappointed with this RAM. Right off the bat, it wouldn't run at the advertised 4-4-4-12 in my system. Okay. Not great, but not a HUGE deal. But WAIT! There's MORE! After 3-4 months, I started getting random lockups and BSOD crashes. It got to the point that my system wouldn't run for more than 24 hours without shuddering to a halt, or just "crashing and burning." Ran memtest 86+ and came up with all sorts of errors. Went to the Yellow Tag store and bought some of their outrageously expensive off-the-shelf stuff, and all is well again. I'm not even going to bother trying to exchange this stuff. It's not worth the trouble. I now have all the RAM that I need, and I sure don't want to install any more of this stuff in my system. Especially after reading about others' similar experiences.
Other Thoughts: Intel D975XBX2 mobo. Intel Core2 Quad. Q6600. EVGA 8400GS etc., etc.

flakey, unreliable
Pros: It's priced well. Crucial is a top brand with good customer service. Good latency. They look very solid and well-made.
Cons: PAIN in the rear to open the blister package. After a few months, this RAM drove me insane. Daily, random BSOD's and lock-ups yet still passed memtest. This RAM runs very hot. I finally replaced them on a a hunch and realized they were the issue. My PC has been running 24/7 for weeks now on "regular" crucial RAM without any issues at all.
Other Thoughts: I used to be a Crucial fanatic, but I know some friends who have had the same problem with the same RAM. I'm not an overclocker or gamer, but I have a huge workload and I need my PC to move without hesitating. This is performance RAM, and like anything performance, it's touchy and tweaky. I just want CAS 5 RAM that works consistently.

Unreliable.
Pros: It's speed is good, was pretty cheap to buy. Ran pretty nicely for the time I had it. Good performance wise. Excellent customer service though.
Cons: My sticks went dead after a year of owning them. I RMA'd it back to Crucial, and received two new sticks business days later. I plugged them in, and it worked for about 3-4 days before the memory went bad again.
I will not buy from Crucial memory, don't get me wrong, they are a pretty good brand, but quality wise could use some work. Customer service was great though!

Not too impressed one stick DOA
Pros: 1: Speed is great 2: Price wasn't bad 3: easy to install (all ram is)
Cons: 1: Dead stick 2: ugly yellow taxicab ram
Other Thoughts: Bought a 4gb set for use with my new build. Everything went together groovy and had the comp up and running when I went to bed. Woke up the next morning and the computer wouldnt even post. Took out both sticks of ram and got the no ram error beeps. Put in one stick, worked fine. put in both, wouldnt post. Took out working stick and and put in faulty stick, wouldn't post.
Rather irked that in order to RMA back to newegg I have to send both sticks back, therefore making my new build inoperable.

Unreliable, but not uncommon
Pros: Was running 4x2gb, It was nice for 4-5months
Cons: Most unreliable ram I've ever had the displeasure of using. Which is sad because in the past I have had good results with crucials regular ram.
Would RMA, but for what another set of the same modules,? thats what sucks the most
Other Thoughts: Check the other reviews, and match the similarities. I wound up replacing these modules with kingston. I will never buy crucial ballistix ram, and question if I will purchase their regular/value ram for use in future builds.

Delivers what it advertises
Pros: 4 GB, 2 Sticks. Cas Latency is one of the lowest for 800. Spreaders don't take up much room.
Cons: None really, I just expected a performance increase in my computer and that didn't really happen.
Other Thoughts: I would buy Crucial again, it isn't bad memory. I'm still a G-Skill man at heart, but I'll cheat with Ballistix on the side.

Not What It Claims To Be
Pros: It's decent, but...
Cons: It does -not- run at the indicated timings. BIOS detects it as 5-5-5-15, 1.8v. Tag is listed at 4-4-4-12, 2.0v. Manually overriding the BIOS settings to run it at the specified timings causes severe instabilities and no-boot scenario.
Other Thoughts: I've been through -six- pairs of these; currently running 4x2GB sticks on a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, Vista Ultimate x64. Every pair I've tried, setting the timings to the manufacturer spec causes no-boot and highly unstable situations. Memtest passes flawlessly, and both IntelBurnTest and Prime95 execute without error at BIOS-determined timings.
This RAM isn't what it claims to be. I honestly don't know if this is a QC issue, or if Crucial is just flat-out lying about the specs, but I'd not recommend these to anyone.
I've given it two eggs because as RAM, it functions beautifully, but not as it should. As someone who has successfully overclocked generic discount RAM, I honestly feel as though I was mislead and ripped off at paying $60 per pair of this. Seeing as I'm not even doing anything intensive with this rig, it's rather disappointing.

YAY
Pros: *Works, no DOA *Nice to look at *DDR2
what more can i say, its RAM and you can OC it. Crucial makes good stuff, expecially gaming RAM. EVERYONE i know uses this particular RAM for thier gaming rigs. Others are nice with fancy heat spreaders and such, but this just works, and is decently priced.
Cons: *Had to install Vista SP1 to use the full 4GB
Other Thoughts: Last RAM upgrade i need to do. next is the CPU then the GPU.
Go for the Tracer if you have the money. My case doesn't have a side panel, tho the LEDs would have been nice :)

Close but no Cigar
Pros: Fantastic price good speed Performance "appears" to be well made
Cons: 1 stick died after 6 months
Other Thoughts: no over-clocking or fooling with speced timeings etc but a 2 gb stick fail is frustrating. RMA requirements are a joke. Require the entire kit to be sent back(if approved by Crucial) tha tleaves me without a PC while they replace my memory. Who "saves" all their packaging for a limited lifetime? I will probably have to buy memory just to be up and running while repalcing this kit

Pros: Very fast memory, or at least faster than the default my computer came with, no problems so far though. Just stick it in and my computer is running faster than ever before.
Cons: I took off the computer and felt the sticks, and they were a little hot, but no problems so far.
Other Thoughts: Newegg is great as always, great packing and shipped quickly. Make sure your comuter motherboard supports any memory that you buy. I bought 4 sticks of this and my computer can only support 4 gbs of it. Just make sure you do the research before you buy any product. Once again my fault, nobody elses.

Not that reliable
Pros: 4-4-4-12-2T CAS timings give that extra boost even when using stock 800MHz
Cons: One stick of the pair failed within 7 months. RMA to Crucial - no cross-shipping supported, took about 5 days for entire process to complete. Runs pretty hot.
Other Thoughts: Just remember to use at least 2.0V. SPP won't pick this voltage up so you will have to do it manually.

Buyer Beware
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Lucky if it stays stable for more than a few months.
Other Thoughts: I've purchased two sets of these. The first was back in April 09' and one of the sticks was DOA. I sent it in for warranty replacement and got another set. Those worked fine until last month when I started having blue screens. I've verified the proper voltage and timing yet another stick is dead.
2 dead sticks in 5 months means a big manufacturing problem IMHO. Maybe you will be lucky, but you've been warned.

Failed after five months
Pros: Fast, good price. Lifetime warranty.
Cons: Started getting weird crashes and BSOD after about 5 months. MANY memory errors in Memtest86+ after system is powered up for more than 12 hours.
Other Thoughts: It took me a long time to figure out my system instability was related to this memory. Started with Win XP which worked great, then went to Win 7 64 Bit Beta which also worked pretty well. About 2 weeks after installing Win 7 RC 64 bit, I started getting crashes with hard drive corruption. Reverted back to Win XP, but still had the instability. After upgrading the motherboard and even getting crashes in Windows Ultimate Boot CD, I knew the problem had to be hardware.
I ran Memtest86+ from a boot CD and I instantly saw memory errors. I can now reproduce the errors pretty consistently. If I start to get crashes, without powering down I will reboot to the Memtest86+ CD and get errors. If I completely power down the system, and then restart, no errors. The errors only start occurring after the system has been operating for 12 hours or more. I even tried increasing the voltage settings and turning down the memory timing in the BIOS but the problem keeps occurring. Will be RMAing

good ram if kept cool
Pros: Good RAM, works in many motherboards. I had this RAM in a low wattage PVR system I built. The systems is on 24/7. After 3-4 months, system crashes. Replaced RAM. Again 3-4 later, crash, bad RAM. Replaced RAM again. I added a fan directly on the RAM. Since then no issues at all. It has been 7 months. Add more airflow over the RAM to lose the heat. It may help with the failing RAM.
Cons: RAM gets hot and fails often. Then RMA is needed.
Other Thoughts: The case I have the PVR in has 3 120mm intake fans. a 140 and 120 exhaust fans. A 120 MM CPU fan blowing towards the 120 case exhaust fan. The RAM is on the intake side of the CPU fan. I added a 120 MM fan where the extra 5 1/4 drives go. This so far has solved my issue. Doing something similar may help you..

Not DOA
Pros: Excellent memory for gaming. Top ranked by Tomshardware. fastest timings when overclocked
Cons: Very suceptible to not working!?!?!
Other Thoughts: I had bought these and placed them into my ASRock motherboard and it worked. I then removed them and put them in as dual channel mode and it wouldnt post. Later I figured out, it was not the memory's issue, but the motherboard had fried the stick I put into the 2nd channel. I tested again with another set of memory i had and killed the 2nd stick in the 2nd channel. So my other machine is down 1 gb of memory =(
C'est La Vie .. Thank goodness memory is cheap now! Thanks to NewEgg for the quick replacement!

8 sticks in a year.
Pros: Timings are really tight. Customer service pretty good.
Cons: Like the title said, I went through 8 sticks in about a year.
Other Thoughts: Set timings manually (4-4-4-12) and mem voltage (2.0v). I even loosend up the timing on my last two sticks to (5-5-5-15) just to be on the safe side. I am tired of RMAing these sticks.

THESE BLOW
Pros: Worked for about two months.
Cons: These memory sticks suck. They started to bluescreen my computer after two months, just outside of newegg's RMA. I am not satified with these at all, they ran the right voltage, timings, speed, and such, but they just died out of no where.
Other Thoughts: Don't buy unless you want a headache of problems.

Faulty
Pros: Good Price
Cons: 1 of the pair died @ ~ 6 months - Memtest86+ reported numerous errors.
Other Thoughts: Given the efforts I've made to keep the case cool and dust free, I doubt heat was the cause of death. I have a filtered, positive pressure fan setup, and my motherboard's temp sensor reliably reads <40 (w/ CPU < 50). I've been running the remaining module w/ no problems, however.

Great memory for the price.
Pros: 4Gb of ddr2 800, low price, heatsink matches my mobo. Performance is very high compaired to the kingston value ram I had installed before.
Cons: Had to manualy set voltage and timing in BIOS, no big deal.
Other Thoughts: Thinking about buying another set to fill my mobo. DDR2 is still the memory standard untill the prices of DDR3 go down. DDR4 will hit the market in the next couple years with lower voltages and higher speeds.

Great...so far!
Pros: Excellent price, excellent performance; currently running 8GB at 1071MHz CAS 5 (!) Great service as usual from The Egg.
Cons: None (so far).
Other Thoughts: I waited over a month before writing a review as several users have noted premature failures with these modules. Obviously time will tell whether they hold up, but these modules get a high recommendation from me.

Pros: Its working Its 4GB I've been able to increase the fsb without underclocking the ram at all, as long as I leave the timings on auto in my bios, its currently running at 1000Mhz. The orange matches my SATA cables?
Cons: None yet

Great while it lasted
Pros: The RAM was well priced for a performance ram with heat spreader. It was a solid upgrade and handled all my extensive activities on Vista32 with ease there was a discernable difference immediately.
Cons: The RAM blue screened and errored out 2 weeks after RMA expired. The RAM only lasted about 6 months.
Other Thoughts: This RAM has high potential when it works, i personally have never purchased Crucial before but in hopes that a better high performance ram was worth it i did, i am dissapointed that it didnt even make it a year but while it worked it was very high performance.

Causes errors
Pros: Looks good
Cons: Refuses to run 4 sticks (8 GB). Tested on several systems and different motherboards (ASUS, Gigabyte, Biostar). Tried bios update, memory check which showed no errors. Only way I could use this to up memory to 8 GB was to pair them with another brand.
Other Thoughts: Will never buy again. Slick looking but that is it for me. I bought this because of good reviews. Prefer Crucial or HyperX. No problems with those brands ever.

Memory Fails After 2 Months
Pros: Crucial/Micron RMA process is painless. Low cost.
Cons: I had been running 4 GBs of Corsair XMS 2 (DDR2 800) memory for about 2 years under Vista 32 and, later, Vista 64. No problems at all. The prices of these Crucial Ballistix modules convinced me that it was time to upgrade to 8 GB total memory. I removed the 4 1GB Corsair sticks and replaced them with 4 of these 2GB Crucial modules on 6 March 2009. BTW, No overclocking on either the Corsair or Crucial memory. Everything was fine until 26 May 2009 when I got my first blue screen. Since then 5-10 blue screens a week, sometimes more. After much troubleshooting (remove/replace/reseat memory, cards, CPU, power supply, etc.) finally decided that it could only be the memory and did the RMA on 6 July 2009. New memory was installed on 13 July and no blue screens since then. I hope the new ones last longer. If not, it will be my last Crucial purchase.
Other Thoughts: Others have reported similar failure scenarios with this memory.
I did run Vista's memory test many times for > 8 hours. It never reported a single error leading me to believe the issue was not memory.

Great Ram runs faster than old OCZ 1066
Pros: I had purchused some OCZ Gold for my M4A79 delux mobo, but it would not run at all in duel channel @ 1066, and even @800 it ran 5-6-6-6-18. I returned that and got the Crucial, after a little tweaking i got it running @800 4-4-4-12. I must say it is noticably faster than the OCZ 1066. Another great thing is the ram will run @1000 5-5-5-5-15 2.0v EEP.
Cons: Had to manully set timmings and voltage through Bios, though this was more likley the Mother board, Asus M4A79 deluxe and not the ram.
Other Thoughts: Ive typically only ever used kingston or cosair ram all my life, i must say i really like this ram so far and will be getting another 4gb of Crucial soon.

Good Stuff!
Pros: OC'd on a BIOSTAR TA790GX AM2+ mATX with an AMD X3 720BE and now a X4 940BE using AMD Overdrive software. Without other tweaks the 720BE ran at 14@250=3.5Ghz and then 16@230=3.68Ghz and now with a X4 940BE without tweaks it runs 16@225=3.6Ghz and I haven't really tried to push it very much.
Cons: NTIKO
Other Thoughts: Overdrive has more tweaks than the BioStar BIOS and can be set to slowly OC up to whatever you spec'd in Overdrive. I learning everyday how to better use Overdrive. Wish they would make a version for Linux.

Can't Complain
Pros: No issues, cheap & fast. (Not overclocked)
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Crucial has always made great ram. Any ram has a better chance of failing when you overclock it (I don't), especially if you don't keep it cool enough. If you're overclocking and having problems, don't complain. It's most likely not the memory's fault.

4 stick tip
Pros: High compatibilty, solid construction (way better heatsink attachment than previous models), runs nice and cool. Even has SPD for 1000Mhz at 2.0v-FSB 250 without OCing the RAM!
Cons: None, really, and have pushed my 4 sticks pretty hard.
Other Thoughts: Running 8GB in Vistax64 just because I can. Was having random freezes, but learned that most motherboards experience a slight voltage drop in the memory slots when running four sticks. I bumped the dimm voltage up to 2.05 and have had no more issues. Note: In my personal opinion, the slight performance difference noticed going from 4GB to 8GB is worth it at this price.

Great Buy
Pros: Installed this next to my Geil 1GB sticks giving me 6GB total memory. I have not tried any other timings then 4-4-4-13 and it runs great. Vista is a lot faster with 6GB from 2GB.
When playing World of Warcraft, I can ALT+TAB out of the game and the desktop appears instantly!
Cons: My hard drive is bored now that Vista doesn't require as much swap space. But it will probably last longer!
Other Thoughts: Almost everyone on my road had mail stolen a couple of weeks ago, including my first shipment of this RAM. NewEgg worked with DHL (who had dropped this off with USPS) and sent me a replacement. NewEgg Rocks but you probably already knew that. After all, isn't that why your here reading reviews?

a gaming must have
Pros: Bought this RAM to replace 2g's of DDR2 677, and it blew my mind. The speed is great, they look good, and they are cheap (i paid $40 for them on sale Newegg rocks!!) Easy install.
Cons: My mobo only has two dimm slots, otherwise i would have bought two more. EGGSAVER. DONT DO IT, EVEN THOUGH ITS CHEAP, PAY MORE TO GET IT FASTER. (took 1 week!) odd coloring choices for a heat sink, but whatever.
Other Thoughts: cant beat the price, speed up games tremendously, (Left4Dead, COD5, Crysis, & Crysis Warhead) loading times improved greatly.

Great RAM
Pros: Stable RAM, runs at rated speeds and timings no problem. It will actually run @ 1066 Mhz 5-5-5-15 at the same voltage(2.0v)!!! Passes memtest all day long! Best memory out there for the price!
Cons: None whatsoever
Other Thoughts: People have been saying that crucial is no longer the king of overclocking memory, but this stuff is great!

Been through several pair
Pros: The memory works well and overclocks decent. That is when it works. Lifetime crucial warranty is not bad.
Cons: I have been through literally a dozen of these guys while overclocking them. If you do not overclock the chips or bump the voltage it seems, they perform for a very long time. Just buy another set, rma your bad ones, and sell them once you get them back.

Replacement RAM fails tests after 4 months
Pros: Crucial is willing to RMA defective memory with their lifetime warranty.
Cons: The other reviews about the memory going bad after a few months is true. This is the second set of Crucial Ballistix RAM in my P5Q Pro board. It was overclocked from the minute it was installed. I got the replacement RAM in February 2009. Now I'm getting BSOD's and Memtest fails the RAM again. I've verified this with another motherboard as well. This RAM is simply junk in my opinion.
Other Thoughts: I've been using regular Crucial memory exclusively for a decade due to having one defective piece in that time. I'm moving on to G.skill. A product should be able to last more than 4 months. I've ordered G.skill to replace this Ballistix. I guess we know why Crucial Ballistix isn't on the QVL for this Asus board. I have another Asus board running DDR-800 G.skill and it's ROCK solid.

Awesome
Pros: This pieces of memory work like charm. If I know this company sell cheap like that I would buy it more because I have bought 1 of them from other company and cost me like $80 which mean twice price that I payed from here.
Cons: Too bad, my motherboard doesn't have extra slot to fill this memory. hahahaha.

Pros: Great price for 4GB (purchased on sale).
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Haven't used Crucial in any high end or gaming pc's, but have used them off and on for about 20 years, mostly their low-priced RAM and haven't been disappointed.

Still unsure
Pros: Great price. Heat shields are a nice touch. 4/4/4/12 timings.
Cons: BSOD's, about six, since I installed them a week ago. Some on load, and some off. Not sure if the RAM is to blame, since I made a lot of upgrades/changes at that time.
Also didn't default to the 4/4/4/12 timings.
Other Thoughts: I'm still undecided on this RAM.

atrocious build quality
Pros: good price, 4/4/4/12 timing.
Cons: ram failures.
Other Thoughts: im not asking a lot. i only want a couple of 2gb sticks that won't nuke themselves every 3 months.
unfortunately, that's too much to ask from crucial. i originally bought these in autumn 2008, and had a ram failure in early december (detected by repeated BSOD's, then windows memory tester and memtest86). i contacted crucial's customer support, who kindly shipped me two brand new sticks of memory. those worked great, until tonight; i've just had 2 random BSOD's, unrelated to system load, in the space of an hour, and ran a memory test after the second one. guess what the result was.
needless to say, i will absolutely not be buying crucial products again.

1 stick works, the other is dead
Pros: Fast while it worked.
Cons: Poor quality control.
Just like a few other reviewers have said, the RAM works for awhile then fails randomly. I have not overclocked the memory. One of the sticks kept making my Gigabyte EP45-UD3P reboot, spin fans, power down, reboot, (repeat cycle). I had to take one stick out for the motherboard to POST. I bought this for a new build and it died within a week of installation. I am still waiting for an RMA#.
Other Thoughts: My build: Intel E8400, Gigabyte EP45-UD3P rev 1.1, XFX Radeon HD 4890 1GB, 4GB (2x 2gb) Crucial Ballistix, Antec 550W PSU.
I don't see how such a product could fail so fast. Sigh..

Good stuff
Pros: Speedy ram. GREAT price (got 4 gigs for $40)
Cons: Can't OC it past 800 on my motherboard, but I'm rather certain it would if I had a newer mobo . . . must save $.
Other Thoughts: this is an incredible deal. if you need ram, spending 10 bucks per gig on a pair of 2gig sticks at 800mhz is like STEALING.

Wanted To Like It
Pros: The price was outstanding when I bought it.
Cons: Just would not work with my new PC.
Other Thoughts: This memory was supposed to be compatable with my motherboard (ECS) but just did not work out that way. My PC would start but would not boot with this memory. Very disappointed with Crucial but Newegg did a fantastic job of advertising this product.

Great Price
Pros: Work@ 800mz with my stock Dell 518 Quad core. I get dual channel with full speed. Paid less than $40 with 15% discount on memory that week and a good low price. Free shipping. Shows 4gigs on Windows Vista Hm premium. Passed Dell Full memory check with no prob.
Cons: Mail took 4-5 working days. Please go back to UPS. Tracking info always behind in updating status.
Other Thoughts: Upgraded Ram works great with my Dell however due to limitations i can not tweek Ram. Owners manual said i wouldn't work @800mz if i max out slots. 2 slots used and two more ready for another pair. Just need to upgrade to a 64 bit.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: It is NOW CHEAP,CHEAP,CHEAP in PRICE!!!! I paid WELL OVER two hundred dollars for my first setabout 3 years ago, I bought them about 7 or 8 months before the Intel Core 2 Duo E6320(4MB cache) only 1.86GHz, on a Gigabyte P945 DS3 motherboard for $69.00. I still have the system and it has ran at a overclock of 3.48GHZ with this DDR2 run at 980MHZ for over two years
Cons: DDR3 is the future, I too will be upgrading!!!
Other Thoughts: Alot of reviews have had negitive comments about the memory failing, espacally the new BALLISTIX, but I`ve bought over 20 1 gb x 2 sticks and 4 of the 2x2gb sets and ONLY ever had a ONE 1 gb stick go bad, I sent it in to CRUCIAL and the RMA was GREAT & FAST, also the stick that went bad had the Krapp ran out of it for TWO years!!! CRUCIAL IS THE BEST!! With times at 4-4-4-12 I had it stable at just over 900MHZ. Where most of your other 800 memory is 5-5-5-15 timings, I have tried many memory`s OCZ, Patriot, etc,,,, and have been very happy with them, but if you want the MOST YOU can get for the LOWEST price it is call CRUCIAL BALLISTIX or TRACER!!!!!!!

Good Stuff
Pros: My board doesn't support DDR2-800, but thought these would work with an underclock and they did. My northbridge is actually max overclocked to 680 MHz and at that speed I can get 3-3-3-9 timings stable with this memory, making them the fastest I can use.
Cons: I am still running 32-bit OS. But still a great deal for 3.2GB of memory!
Other Thoughts: Dont know why the person below couldn't get rated timings stable on an underclock. They are rated 4-4-4-12, if they arent running at that you can get them replaced by Crucial.
Never had problems with Crucial Ballistix, quality memory, dont put too much weight in the mixed reviews, bad sticks happen to all manufacturers and Crucial is usually good with replacements...

hmmmm
Pros: cheap. tight timings (if i could get it stable). see below
Cons: not stable at 4-4-4-12 @ 756mhz. i have a q6600 @ 3.4 ghz which for a 1:1 ratio puts my ram at 756. with the rated timings this ram is not stable in my P5E. i have tried 1.8v and i have tried 2.05 volt and everything in between. the chips are being cooled very well. i can achieve stability by adjusting tRAS to 13.
Other Thoughts: dont know why its unstable. maybe i got a bad stick. i will have to do some more testing, and i will re-review my findings.

crucial ballistix
Pros: hi-can someone tell me how to time memory? I see four settings-4-4-4-12. but in my bios there are more than four settings? Is it the first four settings and then the rest are auto? any feedback would be helpful. ty, ms. ballistix seems very good for the money at $10/gig.
Cons: memory is being outdated. they have new ballistix and ddr3.

Great RAM--as usual.
Pros: Crucial's lifetime warranty, this is also rated for DDR2-1000 at 5-5-5-15 timings at 2.0v (sweet!), and as usual, it works 100% out of the box!
Cons: Not sure how long it'll last, but the quality issues with the Ballistix was mainly because nobody knows how to keep their RAM cool...at least that's what i've heard. Older ballistix didn't like heat. This is the new stuff, so you shouldn't have to worry about anything.
Other Thoughts: NO issues at all! Threw the 4gb in along with the 2x1gb of Ballistix D9GMH i already have, and the system booted up at the same settings no problem! I haven't pushed these past 1000 MHz CL5, which is what I had the old Ballistix running at.
At stock settings, the RAM runs perfectly.

best ram.
Pros: They work great, fast timings, and even work in my xp box
Cons: They work so great, and they were affordable... I can't believe it.
Other Thoughts: It's not really a con or pro, but the heatsinks feel weird.. its kinda cool though..

THE BEST 800 DDR2 !!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!
Pros: The 1st 2 one gig sticks of BALLISTIX 800 MHz I bought($175.00) THREE years ago are STILL running HARD at 988 MHz, with a e6320 Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz, Overclocked to 3.47 GHz. The memory has been running in this machine non-stop for almost 2 years at(5-5-5-15) 988 MHz, and I`ve had it over 1050MHz stable. I bought over a total of 20 1 gig sticks of BALLISTIX and TRACER and EVER had ONE stick BAD from the factory!!
Cons: NONE 2 two gig sticks used to cost over $200.00, for $40-$60 bucks for 4 gigs NOW is a SMOKIN DEAL!!! and I have a DDR3 machine running easy at 1600MHz and the difference between the two are not that big, most people would not notice , unless you MAX OC.
Other Thoughts: THIS is the BEST OVERCLOCKING DDR2 800 memory for the money...PERIOD!!!!! Even at the stock tight timings of 4-4-4-12 there still FAST for 90% of the people out there. CRUICAL has a FAST rma service and has a great customer service.

Great RAM kit
Pros: Running this 4GB kit fast and stable with factory recommended settings (4-4-4-12, 2T, 2.0V, 800MHz). I could be running 8GB and/or overclocking the memory, but so far this kit is handling everything I throw at it without breaking a sweat (Vista 64, high end gaming, streaming HD video, relatively light multitasking). Perhaps I won't need to spring for the 8GB overkill after all?
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Installation took some trial and error. As stated by previous reviewers, this memory does not install and boot up with the factory recommended settings. On first boot up, manually adjust DRAM settings in BIOS, and you're good to go. With proper voltage and timings, this memory kills.

Lasted 7 months, normal for this DDR2
Pros: Was fast and auto config'ed. Pretty much seamless install and was fast for like 7 months
Cons: Died after 7 months slowly. It was time consuming to diagnose as I first thought it was Vista-64, then HD and then Motherboard. In the end it was the DDR2. After struggling for a couple weeks tracking this down in my spare time, I do not look forward to replacing it with the same DDR2.
Other Thoughts: Why do they still make this series of products? I am reading failure after failure at 3-6 months. I should be happy mine lasted 7 months I guess.
Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your feedback, we offer a limited lifetime warranty on our DRAM products. Please contact our support at 1-800-336-8896 and we will assist you.

nice while they lasted.
Pros: very fast while working properly. used the standard timings, no overclock and multitasking was easy as pie.
Cons: i worked a 24 hour shift and came back to a BSOD. rebooted and got to the desktop loading screen before crash and automatic restart. after that it was a constant cycle of power on, spin fans, and power off. after a few turns of this i shut it down and pulled the stick in slot 1 out and rebooted. worked fine ever since and i am currently in the RMA process.
Other Thoughts: i am still going to go back to corsair in the meantime. i ran corsair before crucial and they never had 1 error in 3 years in the same system. i only bought this because i just built a new rig and it caught my attention so i tried it out. i read the reviews of this product and despite the similar failures others have had, i purchased this ram anyways. i should have gone with my gut and stuck with corsair from the beginning.
Manufacturer Response:We are sorry to hear that our memory has caused you any issues. We stand behind our product and offer a limited lifetime warranty on the Ballistix product line. If you haven't talked directly with our support, please call 1-800-336-8896. We can assist with BIOS configuration and insure that the correct settings are applied for optimal performance and compatibility with your new rig.
