Rating + 2 Poor QA

Pros: Fast memory
Relatively inexpensive per GB

Cons: One stick was dead within 2 weeks.

Other Thoughts: So, the real reason this is getting 2 eggs is due to OCZ's QA. See, I understand one bad stick of RAM, so I was more than happy to submit an RMA. Unfortunately I had to send back all four sticks but that was okay with me. About 2 weeks after initial RMA request they fulfilled the order with 2 kits of OCZ2P8004GK. Unfortunately, one of those sticks was DOA. So essentially, I am now RMAing a RMA.

Rating + 2 8 GB

Pros: -My OS was capable of handling the 8 GB. no problem.
-Took the heat off my GTX 275 (major pro)
-Looks nicely built

Cons: No difference from a generic 4 GB set.
Meaning: Same Windows Index score as a 4 GB set.

Other Thoughts: I installedit into my Windows 7 64 bit system no problem. everything was going good until it started making programs in my OS crash.
i reinstalled Win7. checked out the BIOS settings
I didn't expect it to be the RAM until i switched back to my old generic 4 GB set. i ran memtest and it got the blue screen. it was a major dissapointment...
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you are having difficulties. Doubling your memory load to 8gb puts additional stress on your memory controller, often requiring a few simple BIOS changes to achieve stability. Please visit our support forums at the link below and post in the memory section. We will assist you with settings to get you running properly. As a side note, the Window Index Score does not care if you have 4gb or 8gb installed, as this change has nothing to do with everyday system performance. The additional memory is helpful when running memory intensive apps, such as Photoshop, and some 3D games.
Thank you

Rating + 5 killer upgrade

Pros: Matched DDR2-800 memory, good compatibility, fair price

Cons: None with the memory.

Other Thoughts: When I first installed this my Asus M3N-HT Deluxe/HDMI it wouldn't even POST. I was on the 2602 BIOS, so I upgraded to 2904. Then it would POST and gave me an error about the memory configuration being wrong and suggested I reset the BIOS to factory defaults. I did that and it worked like a champ. I have everything in BIOS set to Auto and it works perfectly now.

Rating + 1 Incompatible!

Pros: Price was reasonable.

Cons: Would not run more than two sticks (4GB) in My Asus P5N-D mobo. It would boot with 4 (eventually) but Win 7 64 bit would freeze within a few mouse clicks.

Other Thoughts: I spoke with OCZ support and they gave me settings which differed from the settings recommended by their own support techs in various forums and the settings on the sticker. And yes, I did jack up the north brigde voltage to 1.5 volts to meet the higher demand of 4 - 2 gig sticks. Asus told me they don't recommend OCZ but their qualified vender list hasn't been updated since the mobo came out. They say it's the memory manufacturers job to test their own RAM in all the hundreds of boards out there.
In my humble opinion, that was my first and last OCZ purchase.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the problem. For many older motherboards, 8gb of RAM proves to be difficult to run at higher speeds. Slowing your speed to 667mhz will probably allow you to run 8gb of memory, although we realize that is not what you expect. When older boards were built, 8gb of memory was seldom run, and rarely available in a kit that would hit 800mhz. As far as testing, we do test on many different platforms, but testing on every board ever produced is not possible.
Thank you

Rating + 4 Still on the Fence

Pros: Worked great for like 2 months then one stick went bad...OCZ Customer Service process was easy enough to get an RMA BUT you have to send all 4 Dimms back which sucks if you dont have a backup. Still working Great after replacement.

Cons: I have found that you have to manually set up your ram in the bios to get them to run at the advertised speed and spec.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy a quad kit again since there is no real benefit besides a price discount. It is DUAL channel there is no such thing as QUAD Channel so better off buying two DUAL channel kits so if a dimm goes bad you only have to send back the offending pair.

Pros: if it worked sure it would be great

Cons: does not work with Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P, Ive checked their forums, tried numerous voltage and speed settings, evey memtest comes out clean, but every real use experience gives BSOD after about 30mins of running .

Other Thoughts: just wish it worked, bought 8gb ram that I have to return
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you have had problems with this memory on your board. 8gb is a large memory load, and this is likely related to the issues you are seeing. Please see the link below for setting suggestions, as they may help resolve your issues. If you would like some personalized help, please post in the memory section. We are happy to help.

Rating + 5 The only ram I buy for my systems

Pros: I just ordered and installed this in my system I purchase from here last year. I had the same ram installed for a year now with 1gb chips times 4. I swapped it out for this 8gb set and installed the old 4gbs in my wife's new system I just purchased from here. Rock solid look forward to having this around for a long time.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: OCZ ram in my 3.4 single core 2X 1bg sticks still running great after 4+ years. I will never buy any ram other than OCZ for my systems.

Rating + 5 Great ram though had trouble at first.

Pros: If you have a 64bit operating system then this will give you more ram than you know what to do with. Its fairly fast considering they are 2 gig sticks. OCZ technical support is absolutely amazing. Overclocks a little bit as well.

Cons: None does everything it says it will.

Other Thoughts: When I first installed it, my comp wouldn't boot but then OCZ technical support informed me that I should increase my RAM voltage to 2.1 which my MoBo had not done automatically for some reason. Now it works fine without a problem.

Rating + 1 Expected better

Pros: I love having 8 gig of ram

Cons: Wish it worked better. I have changed PSU's, Replaced MB multiple times, upgraded Bios, and have tried Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 (both 64 bit so I can use all the memory). Keep getting Memory Management BSODs. Contacted tech support and they have me running it at a different voltage and different timings than specified on the memory... still didn't work. SLOW RMA response and slow tech support response in the forum. Right now still waiting on RMA. Not real sure about OCZ after reading a few of the comments here.

Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the problem. You may be experiencing a delay due to the holidays. Your replacement kit should be sent to you shortly.
Thank you

Rating + 5 Excellent Purchase

Pros: Never been disappointed with OCZ ram. Great product and excellent stock performance

Cons: None that i can see

Other Thoughts: Even though i'm running this ram in a Whitebox ESXi 4 server and don't care to overclock anything i'm sure it will handle a little tweak here and there.

Gets 5 eggs cause it does what they are suppose too. For those that push the product i would expect no less then a 4 rating as it was never intended to take what they are trying to do with this ram.

Good tech support from OCZ. At one time I thought I had hardware probs, turns out XP Pro 64 bit was the prob. Win 7 x64 Ultimate is smokin fast and stable.

Rating + 5 Solid memory for over a year and counting...

Pros: This RAM is solid, reliable memory. I have 8GB installed running in an Asus P5B-Plus, and have had no problems.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The SPD timings wern't as good as the stated timings so I had to manually set them to 5-5-5-18 in the Bios. 5-5-5-15 works well too, but I havn't tried overclocking these any further than that.

Rating + 5 Great Product

Pros: Great product. I bought 4 2GB sticks. OS startup was quicker as well as loading in-game maps/levels. Overall great performance upgrade.

Cons: They are snug on the motherboard but they do fit. Heat can be an issue in a poorly ventilated box. Be sure you have sufficient fans.

Other Thoughts: Great bang for the buck. Paid $159 for 8gb and got a flash drive (which I don't really use but cool anyway) The gold cooling plates make them look pretty slick if you have an open case.

Pros: it is everything that i have ever looked for in RAM. large capacity, great speed, low price (at least it was when i bought it)

my windows 7 report has gone from a 5.2 on my ram (my previous 3GB of RAM) to a 7.1.

Cons: um... more like my case, it was a pain in the behind to install. hard drive enclosure right over the RAM slots. nothing negative about the RAM

Other Thoughts: system specks

Pros: No trouble so far.

Cons: Hot

Manufacturer Response:Hello, memory temps can be affected by a few factors. Case ventilation and ambient temps can make a difference. Having cooler fresh air available can help the heatspreaders do their job. Higher voltages and tighter timings can also increase temps.

Rating + 5 Fast, functional, beautiful.

Pros: - Works without any problems.
- Flawlessly runs with Windows 7, x64 - extraordinarly snappy perfromance.
- The gold adds class to my case.
- Using with: ASUS M4A78 PRO Mobo, AMD Phenom II X4 955 and EVGA 896-P3-1257-AR GeForce GTX 260. Incredible combo.

Cons: - None, this is what you need.

Other Thoughts: When I purchased this my friend told me it was overkill but to me not having to ever worry about running out of memory is not overkill. I can do as much multitasking I want without worrying about cleaning up my tasks to free-up memory (I'll still do out of habit). Finally, my computer can keep up with me.

Rating + 5 Good Upgrade for my HP

Pros: Full upgrade memory in one package at a good price plus gold always looks good in a computer.

Cons: Not a whole lot here.

Other Thoughts: I had a stick go bad after a couple of weeks but newegg came through with a new set. Since then it's been running like a champ. The gold actually does something because these things get WARM while running. I usually buy computers then upgrade them to where I want them. This time around I upgraded an HP a6700y pc. The memory made a HUGE difference in how fast it ran. Please note that if you are running a 32bit OS like XP or Vista, this would be overkill since they do not use anything more than a hair over 3GB of memory. If you have Vista 64 or XP 64 (I think) then go for it. I have yet to max out my memory usage after installing these.

Rating + 2 Went bad after 3 months

Pros: Good price, gold outside makes for easy handling

Cons: I bought one set of these, and about three months later, one stick went bad on me. Not the end of the world, but past the RMA time and now I'm stuck with a bad card. It took me forever to troubleshoot down the RAM problem, and I ended up buying a new HD because I thought that was the problem.

Other Thoughts: Expect one card to go bad at some point. It's still a good deal.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you had a problem. While memory can fail, it is not uncommon for a kit to last beyond the lifetime of a system. No OCZ customer is ever stuck with bad memory. We have a lifetime warranty and will gladly replace your kit. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to start the RMA process.

Rating + 5 excellent value and performance

Pros: It...does what it's supposed to do. It stays out of the way and let's me crunch numbers.

Nothing but positive experiences with it - bought it along with a Phenom 9950 and a new Asus mobo from newegg, slapped it in, fired right up with no configuration or timing tweaks required.

Cons: None thus far. It's...memory, it doesn't flash pretty colors at you. If it's doing what it's supposed to do, your system simply functions with no glitches - and that's precisely what mine has done, function with no glitches.

Best of luck to anyone who does happen to hit a glitch, but I personally have not, and it's been winners all around thus far - and from what I've seen, excellent representation from OCZ on here, being quick to address problems cited in reviews. And before anyone makes the accusation, no, I don't work there, but I do come from a software house - so I both understand the value of, and very much appreciate, those who take pride in their brand name.

The pride shows in their product far as I can tell - again, winners all around with this one, even though I've yet to reach beyond 5GB consumption (4.3GB of which is cache - linux kernel innit!) what address space I *do* happen to touch goes through quickly, with no hiccups.

Other Thoughts: Even the heavy I/O of a number of ramdisks (compiler cache) hasn't managed to cause any hiccups. Thanks to OCZ for their excellent customer service (and newegg too, though that's a given!) and excellent product at an affordable cost.

Rating + 5 solid deal

Pros: Reasonable price for those needing to up grade memory and are limited to a 800mhz( pc6400) motherboard bus.
Works well at rated settings and is a plug n play upgrade for the thosewith limited computer hardware knowledge. Here's your answer for win7 64 bit or ugh,,,vista 64 bit. It will definetly improve your performance in all areas. It can do some heavey duty multi tasking with this stuff and never run out of memory.

Cons: none. 8 gigs for approx $100,,, you can't go wrong

Other Thoughts: Make sure your motherboard supports 2gig modules in its ram slots, not all do, but the gigabyte socket 775 965p s3 that it was purchased for loves it.

Rating + 5 Replacement for this RAM arrived and...

Pros: No issues whatsoever, RAM runs a LOT cooler, no BSODs! Actually, the OCZ2G8004GK kit is slightly quicker than this one,... which it replaced (strange, OCZ makes both, maybe it's just the fact they function so much better with the board too). The only difference I have found is voltage, 1.8 (or was it 1.9) volts as opposed to 2.1 volts; essentially the same chips.

Cons: Next time I will contact the memory manufacturer to see if it works with a mainboard not listed in their compatibility charts.

Other Thoughts: OCZ2G8004GK (two kits arrived). ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUE. I've noticed that the MSI Neo-F mainboard is no longer recommended for the OCZ2G8008GQ RAM, buy 2 OCZ2G8004GK kits with that mainboard and you will be fine!

THANKS FOR COMING THROUGH OCZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rating + 1 Don't get with recommended Mainboard

Pros: None other than the price was right.

Cons: Did not function with the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P or the NE recommended MSI Neo-F mainboard. Unable to return the RAM so I had to go to the manufacturer. They are sending OCZ2G8004GK, a 4GB kit. I hope they send 8GB as that is what I initially purchased. OCZ has a good reputation so I am sure they will.

Other Thoughts: Upset because I ordered the mainboard the second time around which was recommended purchase on memory's information page on the NE site. Still didn't work, RAM crashed on several different boards and refused to complete a single full battery of tests when asked by the Tech Support at OCZ to run MemTest. Nothing else to say, just hope I get all 8GB I initially purchased and not a 4GB replacement. Will follow-up with results later...
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the problem and will take good care of you. You will get the correct 8gb of memory in exchange. If you have any question or concerns in the future, please visit our support forums at the link below.

Pros: Heat spreader, gold 8GB package, good pricing. OCZ brand has always been good.

Cons: 6-6-6-18 timing in BIOs even though specs on here are 5-5-5-15. Adjusted to appropreate timing and still only a 4.9 Rating for RAM in Vista? My laptop w/ 4GB PC2 5300 gets 5.9. Weird, but not docking an egg for it

Other Thoughts: Wish it was 5.9 under Vista for me. Maybe I'm not doing something right.

Rating + 3 Cheap, but does not conform to spec

Pros: Inexpensive for the size.
Can probably be made to work with proper supply voltage (needs 2.1V, and is not reliable with JEDEC standard voltage of 1.8V).

Cons: This memory requires a higher working voltage than the standard specifies. Manufacturers will usually do this to make marginal chips work, which is probably why the memory is cheap. However, that means that you need to manually configure your motherboard for this supply voltage, and that there is little to no overclocking potential (if that's important to you).

This memory comes up with 6-6-6-18 timings, not 5-5-5 as spec'd by OCZ. Memtest86+ detected errors with any 5-5-5 timings for me, even with VDIMM=2.2V. In fact, the memory would not run reliably until I used the default 6-6-6-18 timings and VDIMM=2.1V.

Other Thoughts: You're better off spending the extra $20 to buy DDR2 specified to run at 1.8V.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for any misunderstanding that you had about voltage requirements for this memory. The specs tab on this Newegg product page clearly lists all specs including voltage. Overclocking 8gb of memory is extremely difficult, no matter the voltage or brand. The additional load on your memory controller is normally the limiting factor. We appreciate that you have a choice in the products you purchase.
Thank you

Rating + 5 Pretty Good

Pros: Specs call out 5-5-5-15 and 2.1V, but it booted at 6-6-6-18 @ 1.8V on my P35-DQ6.

I set the timings to 5-5-5-15 and increased the voltage to 2.0. This increased Vista's memory score from 5.4 to 5.9.
I also synced my FSB to 400 MHz on my E6400 so the memory and processor would be 1:1. I dropped the mutliplier down from 8 to 6 which still gave me a small over clock, but I just wanted my memory synced.

Cons: Had to manually adjust the timings, but not all that upset about that.

Other Thoughts: I would try to over clock the ram and cpu more, but with 14 hard drives in my case, there is enough heat in there as it is.

Rating + 1 Bad batch with OCZ tapdance

Pros: NONE unless you like being irritated.

Cons: The 'free' 8GB flash drive GIFT is a lie. Not free and most certainly not a gift for buying this junk since I have to return it with RMA or suffer the wraith of newegg! They want to charge me $17 for not returning my free gift!?

So I say it again "BAD BATCH" avoid at all costs. Too bad OCZ had to treat me like a NOOB - no more gold heat spreaders for me!

Other Thoughts: I have degrees in electrical / mechanical engineering and computer science when I was a kid the radio shack semiconductor reference guide was my best friend. The fact that OCZ is patronizing my last review and not stepping up to the FACT that this memory is defective is quite disturbing... just lost my business permanently with that last response. When someone lists a high technical understanding why would you further insult them with "did you plug it in duh" !?
Of course I trid different voltages! Bottom line: I bought 12 GB of memory in this order, a 8GB kit and a 4GB kit. OCZ2G8008GQ(1.9v) and OCZG8004GK(1.8v). The 4GB is fine ran memtest 2.11 all night No problem (even with stock mobo voltages).
As stated in last review the GQ sticks were failing in under 10 minutes at all the voltages supplied. I tried several times as my first thought was "4 sticks lets try to up the voltage"
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry if our response was upsetting to you. We try to treat everyone with respect, although the truth is that some customers simply don't set voltages correctly, have limited experience, and their problems are easily solved. We hope that our responses can be of help to other customer as well. If the memory you purchased is damaged, we will gladly replace it. Rating + 1 Bad batch

Pros: free 8GB flash drive (sloooww drive).

Cons: Costs more than 2 - 4GB kits.
2 of 4 sticks failed in memtest 2.11 in under 10 minutes! This is a 50% failure rate and since I bought them together I cant keep the two good sticks. (Not sure I would want to at this point)

Other Thoughts: OCZ should really test their memory more vigorously! I can understand 1 of 4 sticks, but 2!? I should have bought 2 4GB kits instead (first instinct) but have never had an OCZ failure in the past and thought the flash drive was worth the $15 extra over the 2 x 4GB price... I was wrong and now I am stuck with only 5 GB of other unmatched memory I had on hand until I get replacements....

My two bits: "Don't waste your time - get 2 - 4GB kits"
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you have had problems. Please insure that you have set your memory voltage as shown on the label on each stick. Please visit our support forums at the link below and post for assistance if you have any further concerns.
Thank you

Pros: Popped all four sticks in and they work like a charm. Voltaged changed automatically in my BIOS and were identfied with no DOA sticks.

Cons: there are no cons cause it all works.

Other Thoughts: Lots of people think about the looks of the ram(myself included), but after its installed....you only see the tops of them, and not the sides of the heat-spreaders. So looks arent everything.

Pros: 8gb kit of Dual Channel pairs for a GREAT Price! So I will give it 5 eggs so far.

Cons: Hmm....I also purchased these because I believed they were 2.1 v as noted on specs on newegg....but now that I have them they are 1.9 v on the dimm label

Other Thoughts: I hope they work since MB calls for 2.1 v dimms but if they dont I think I can manually change the voltage to 1.9 in the bios and try again.

Rating + 5 Great drives

Pros: No noise, super cool. Fast drives - no stuttering issues. OCZ forum is extremely helpful

Cons: The price dropped by at least 30 bucks the next day after I ordered a pair of them

Other Thoughts: Check hardware compatibility with hardware-based RAID cards. The problem you may run into is finding a hardware-based RAID card that will support these drives. I tried pairing 2 of these behind a 3ware 9690SA-4I-SGL PCI Express SATA / SAS Controller Card. While the drives were initially recognized and I made several successful arrays including RAID 0, 1 and JBOD...the 3Ware BIOS is not compatible with these drives. After writing to an array, the 3Ware BIOS freaks out and reports one of the drives is undetectable (despite nothing wrong with the drives whatsoever). I reverted to using the onboard Intel SATA RAID on my Dell Precision Workstation T3400. I benchmarked a Transfer Rate Average of 364.4 MB/sec with HDTune using a 128K stripe and 128K offset after aligning per OCZ forums. I'm happy enough with the performance of the Intel onboard RAID, but I've always run add-in hardware RAID.

Pros: I have purchased pc6400 chip sets from 4g to 8g matched made by OCZ and have had nothing but great results. I build HTPC's for retail and this is by far my #1 choice for memory at this time. A few weeks ago I purchased memory by one of the OLD time leaders (C) and it was a dissapointment. Pros: Well, they worked. Initially I purchased the 4 GB HyperX memory from Kingston. Only one of those worked, and so I had to run my new machine on only 2 GB while i waited for something else to come, or RMA the 4 i had and have a $1000 paperweight while i waited for the replacement. This stuff worked great right out of the box.

Cons: The heat spreaders are a little odd, as they are not closed over the top like most, and the gold didn;t really work with the color scheme i was trying to acheive, but oh well.

Rating + 1 OCZ is sad face.

Pros: 8GB Perfect for running server 08

Cons: Don't work with p5n32-SLI Deluxe. It will fool you into thinking that it does work when computer boots. Then you click on my computer and it takes 20 mins, if it dont blue screen first. I was really disappointed with OCZ this time. I have there 32 gig flash drive and it was the best drive that I have ever owned. I was hoping that their RAM would be the same. A similar model RAM is on my QVL in my manual. I have tried both auto and manual voltage settings with little success. This was an RMA transaction.

Other Thoughts: I am hoping that newegg will allow me to get a different set of ram. I have 2gb of the Corsair 6400C ram it works great I just cant have allot of things going at the same time. I will look at getting an 6 or 8 gig kit of Corsair. I read the OCZ forums and did not get much out of it. Maybe I can get a manufacturer response?
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you are having difficulties. Loading a motherboard with 8gb of RAM puts a much larger strain on your memory controller than 2gb would, and you will need to make some specific BIOS changes to achieve stability. Before deciding to exchange this memory, please visit our support forums and post for some personalized assistance. We have a great group of techs that should be able to get you running in quick fashion.

Pros: 8GB. Nice. I did have to RMA the first kit (read below).

Cons: The first kit I received I had to RMA. I was seeing random blue screens, odd system behavior, app crashes etc. I ran memtest86 over night and it found lots of errors reported. ;(

RAM does not overclock very well at all. Plan on using it at the stock 800Mhz speed.

Make sure you use a 64bit OS or you won't be able to use all the RAM. I'm running Vista 64bit edition and it works quite well.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you run memtest86 or another tester to confirm you have good modules!!!

Timimg I use (and what the vendor says on their website) are 5,5,5,15.

Rating + 4 8gb DDR400 F.T.W.

Pros: Nice package, all of the chips worked. Vista64 w/ 8gb of ram is nice!

Heat spreaders aren't too big, the fit snugly but didn't have to force anything.

Cons: Had to manually adjust my memory timings and voltage to get things working at all. The retail box does not list suggested timings or voltage anywhere. Not a huge bother but there are no notes on the package that would tell someone less savvy what to do.

I was aware of the issue before taking my machine down because I had about a week to research the ram (see other thoughts) and read the OCZ forums for problems that others had run into with these chips.

Mobo: Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe. I ended up running 1.9v and 5-5-5-15 timings and things are stable.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg TN warehouse needs to get their heads in the game.

I ordered a new motherboard, processor, ram and a BR/HDDVD drive for a media system on 1/6. Ipaid the extra fee to rush the order. The TN office didn't even provide the billing scan until 1/8, and it was picked up the morning of 1/9. I didn't get the package until 1/13 due to the weekend. WHY does the TN warehouse take 48+ hours to ship out a package that has paid for a rush delivery?! NewEgg, I love you but next time I order something and see it will be coming from the TN office I will be tempted to just order from another supplier.

I had my items that shipped from CA in my house, installed before TN even tagged their box. Quite pathetic and very annoying for the consumer. NE you can do better and I expect it!

Rating + 3 Meh

Pros: Looks cool, works as advertised.

Cons: only 3 of the 4 sticks worked in my computer at anyone time.

Other Thoughts: You really don't need more that four GBs in a system given the current demand from applications.
Manufacturer Response:Hello,, please visit our support forums at the link below for help with settings for your system. We should be able to help you get all 4 sticks running.
Thank you

Rating + 5 Excellent

Pros: Does what it is supposed to do. Its everything you would expect from OCZ. Designed to overclock if you so desire, handles higher voltages no problem.

Cons: None really, although I am not a fan of the gold color on the heat spreaders. But, lets faces it, who cares what a RAM module looks like?

Other Thoughts: Pop and swapped with my Corsair. Running Vista Home Premium 64x edition. Scores a 5.9 on Vista.

Rating + 5 TOTALLY AWESOME!!!

Pros: WOW!!! 8 gigs of super fast RAM for 100 bucks!!! OH MAN YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS!!!

THis is really fast RAM, it is also ideal for overclocking because of the Gold heat sinks. I have been using RAM for many, many years, back when 16K costed 50 bucks. In all my years, I have never seen RAM with heat sinks on it. I did not think the RAM would fit in the board because of the heat sinks, they are fat little chips. However, everything fit fine.

I am not overclocking anything, its just not my style.

This allowed me to run Vista x64 and I turned off my page file completely so there is no disk activity once up and running. Everything is loaded into RAM and I still have nearly 7 gigs free to do whatever is needed.

Cons: The only Con is that I cannot get 8 gig chips for the same price!

Other Thoughts: I run a full screen game on my first monitor while running a full screen DVD in Media Player on my second monitor. I will have email open, web browsers and more, it all works like a champ!!

GO NEW EGG!!!!

Rating + 5 Just an update to my previous review...

Pros: N/A

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I was finally able to get my system stable with all four sticks installed. It required setting the memory timings manually in the BIOS as well as increasing the NB voltage. More work than should be necessary for non-overclocked RAM, so my original comment about using caution with older motherboards still applies.

Rating + 5 Use caution with older motherboards...

Pros: 8GB and cheap!

Cons: Requires 2.1v to run optimally and not compatible with all motherboards (ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium for example).

Other Thoughts: I did not do the necessary research when I bought these. While my system did detect them, they caused some rather serious stability issues. Make sure they are compatible with your motherboard before purchase. They *probably* will not be compatible with older motherboards. I have the P5N32-SLI Premium (590i chipset) and they clearly do not work on it. Absolutely not the fault of the RAM though.

Rating + 4 Great Deal for 64-bit Systems

Pros: • Twice as much memory as is possible with 32-bit
• Above average clock speed
• Very low price
• Straightforward installation
• Innovative & attractive heat spreader

Cons: • Dropped my Windows Experience rating for memory from 5.8 to 5.6

Other Thoughts: My motherboard supports = 8GB DDR2 800 so I wanted to max it out while prices are through the floor.
I was nervous about installing this kit because I had read about incompatibilities between OCZ and my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 R1). I made sure the BIOS was current, swapped the kit, and done. No settings to tweak or anything.
My only discrepancy is that previously I had a generic 2GB DDR2 800 kit which returned a Windows Experience rating of 5.8. This 'performance' kit with quadruple capacity returned a rating of 5.6. I assume this is either because my motherboard doesn't support the recommended voltage (2.1 recommended by OCZ, 1.8 supported by mobo), the memory latency, or some combination.
Regardless, the system overall seems dramatically more responsive. SuperFetch in Vista definitely knows what to do with all that extra capacity. I would highly recommend this kit to anyone on a budget looking to take their 64-bit system up a notch.
