Rating + 5 Great Memory

Pros: Great memory for the price. Running it at 7-7-7-18 and runs great!

Cons: Price keeps going up and one of the the things that makes this great is the low price.

Other Thoughts: If anyone knows how to overclock it to 1800 please let me know I heard you can change the timings to the 8's and get it to 1800.

Rating + 2 disappointing performance, failed

Pros: High cost value for the performance specifications. Great deal on paper at time of purchase. The eggs I give are for this great theoretical value. RMA was accepted for return by OCZ, so warranty works.

Cons: Failed after 2 months, RMA and got a new set which did not run at 7-7-24 timing (ran at 8-8-8-24). Online RMA process to return to OCZ was impersonal. Some questions in my correspondence were completely ignored despite online statements that OCZ will hear your special requests for your RMA (Things like ability to credit card order a spare advance set so you won't be out your RAM during the RMA process).

Other Thoughts: First bought this for a new corei7 920 system. After building the computer using RAM at specified settings, I had trouble with it recognizing all 6GB of RAM, only recognizing 4GB. Reseated, and it worked. For two months I had periodic blue screens and lock-ups, mostly in games. Eventually only recognized 4GB again, and then would not boot. Got it to boot, and memtest (windows version) and memtest 86 and windows7 memory test all failed. Replaced RAM with some Patriot 8-8-8-24 which worked fine and tested fine. Got my RMA RAM back and it showed test failures at 7-7-7-24 but not at 8-8-8-24. At this point I'm working with the 8-8-8-24 timings and it's not worth any more of my time for RMA. Two sets out of two bad is not a good record. I suspect quality control is bad, and the technology is probably being pushed to the limit of their manufacturing to get the 7-7-7-24 timings. I do not recommend this RAM. Buying again, I would buy an 8-8-8-24 timing of another brand.

Rating + 5 Even better then expected!

Pros: This memory is rated to run at 7-7-7-24 I have it running perfectly at 7-7-7-18! It looks really nice, the PCB is actually black, not green like in the pictures! Doesn't block big heat sinks which is great.

Cons: No XMP? I don't need that anyway.

Other Thoughts: I got this memory for $95. Probably the best money/performance wise.

Rating + 5 Works Great - No Issues

Pros: Bought 2 sets and installed 12gb (6 x 2gb) into a eVGA E758-A1 motherboard. Works great.

Cons: When I initially installed the memory the motherboard set the memory frequency at 1053 mhz. I had to make changes in the bios in order to get it to the just under 1600. No biggie.

Rating + 2 Gorgeous, Fast, but....

Pros: Gorgeous presentation, and it's fast as advertized.

Cons: My kit has a bad stick, so I'm forced to either run with 4 GB or RMA and lose use of my computer.

Other Thoughts: I hate choices like this. I like OCZ, but jeez...
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the problem. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to get in touch with our support staff. Mention that you were sent by the OCZ customer service rep at Newegg, and we should be able to work out a work out a solution that will keep you operating while getting your RMA.

Pros: Great mem. I've got 12 Gb running on my Core i7 920 with a RIIE mobo. Blazing fast.

Cons: My overclocks weren't nearly as stable once I added the second 6 Gb to bring it up to 12 Gb. I had to back it down from 3.8+ Ghz to 3.5 Ghz. Oh well, who needs those extra 400 Mhz? Oh wait, I DO! That's why I bought a $300 mobo!!

Pros: Great memory with ASUS P6T Deluxe v2 motherboard

Running at 3.3 Ghz at x21. Bought 6GB kit in June for 99.99 with $20 rebate.

Cons: Now memory is $153.99 after 10 rebate.

Other Thoughts: Should have bought 2 x 6GB kits in June.

Rating + 4 Fantastic, when it works

Pros: 6 Gigs of RAM. Very fast. Good price for the product. Almost everything about this product is a pro.

Cons: Probable quality control problems (See other thoughts). MY motherboard didnt set the stock timings or voltages correctly, but that is probably a Motherboard and not a RAM problem.

Other Thoughts: I have owned OCZ products since the first day I built my first computer, and their products are great. Probably the best value for the money on the market. The only complaint that I have is that I have had to RMA every one of their ram kits but two. One, was about two years ago and it was the replacement of another product. And the second one is the one I have currently, and I had to RMA the previous ones. So basically, the best product for the money on the market when it works.

Rating + 2 First ones were defective! Waiting for replacement...

Pros: Awesome ram after you adjust timings and settings in bios to appropriate ones.

Cons: The first set of sticks were defective. After I had 3 memory_management blue screens I ended up running 3 different memtests: memtest.exe, memtest86+, and windows memory diagnosis.
One stick had 8 errors in all 3 tests and another stick had over 750+ in all 3 tests. And memtest.exe caused blue screens when running before I got a good test set up. The remaining stick was error free tho. So I ended up RMAing them back to newegg.

I know my stuff when it comes to ram and I did go into bios to change settings in attempt to see what I could do to stabilize my ram (at first I believed that running at 7-7-7-24 1600 @1.65v was a stability issue). Nothing worked so these sticks were defective.

Waiting on my replacement sticks to arrive. First thing I will definitely do is test them with all the memory tests once again. I hope they are good this time around.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's customer service is amazing as always. I was a fool not to test the ram as soon as I got the computer and had it built. So I ended up RMAing the sticks on the last possible day, 30th day. Of course I was delayed 2 weeks because the first graphics card I received was the wrong one. And again, newegg's customer service was great with that issue.

The reason why I put 2 eggs is because OCZ makes great products but not everything will work 100% perfectly that anyone makes. The thing is, with no working ram, the new omputer is sitting to the side and Im stuck using my old one (which is extremely old and dying on me). Having to wait for 2 weeks to get replacement is also a pain.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry fopr the problem. If you have any furether concerns, please visit our support forums at the link below for assistance with troubleshooting and settings. Often a few setting changes will get you running error free.

Rating + 5 Good, but you might need a fan

Pros: Fast. I haven't gotten it up to full speed yet but I am happy with it.

Cons: None really. It can run hot, but once I figured that out it wasn't worth taking an egg away, see Other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these for my new computer. For some reason I was getting blue screens and other instability when I had all 6 sticks of memory, but I couldn't find any one module that was bad. The instability always happened, but it was kind of random how it specifically happened (sometimes it was a blue screen, other times a file wouldn't copy properly, other times just a restart...). Sounded like it was overheating to me.

And I was right. A 12 dollar memory fan from my local store solved the problem. So, if your motherboard has the memory packed closely together invest in a fan. It doesn't need a big one, but even a little air moving over them will do wonders.

Rating + 4 The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly

Pros: Inexpensive (cheap), plenty (4) of SATA cables, even an IDE port w/cable; which is nice when upgrading from an older system.

E-SATA PORT, 7 USB 2.0, 7.1 HD sound on board, SPDIF, & CMOS reset all in the back, 7 slots (2-x16pci-e, 1-x4-pci-e, 2-x1pci-e, 2-PCI). Has 2 more USB 2.0 headers on the board for front USB & peripherals. 2 digit Bios code LED display is a nice touch. Even has a TPM port! Does either CrossfireX or SLI (again, nice). Can do IDE, RAID/Intel Matrix, or NCQ SATA modes.

Full ATX size, nice if your working in a big enough case (like my HAF 922).

All in all, pretty good, considering the lower price. Has features usually reserved for high end (high priced) MB's.

Cons: FYI: Watch out for the voltage settings on this board, DO NOT let it set DRAM voltages to auto. It likes to over-volt the DRAM to 1.89V, where as the max Intel spec on the I7 is only 1.65V. Letting it over-volt the DRAM can eventually lead to having a fried CPU, or even wreck your memory. (that's 1 egg off)

The manual isn't very helpful in explaining what the BIOS options are (somewhat useless), and their tech support guy couldn't even tell me (e.g. he didn't know what the IOH setting was for (North Bridge)). (should be a 2nd egg off)

One of x1 PCI-E ports is useless, as it's in between Northbridge heatsink and 1st X16 PCI-E slot, as it's too close to the NB heatsink, and could maybe short out the board, or at least block the airflow coming out of that NB heatsink (they need to move CPU & NB up about 1/4"). Other x1-PCI-e is next to 1st x-16PCI-e, so any modern video card that takes up two slots will eliminate that one (would have it swapped with a reg PCI slot).

Other Thoughts: Bought two of these (building one for myself & wife's nephew). 1st one died within a couple of days, don't know why (computer just shut off during a prime95 stability test, when trying to get memory to run at rated speed). Guessing it was just a bad board, it happens. Have RMA'd it, will find out how fast NewEgg can replace it.

I've seen a few people complain about the placement of the front audio header, although I think I know why they put it near the back. Otherwise, they'd have to run traces from the rear ports to the other side of the MB, which would probably introduce a lot of crosstalk (not good). Probably one of their better design decisions. Just get a case with a decently long front audio header cable....

I haven't had problems with the SATA ports like some others, again because I have a big enough case.

If your not familiar with how to setup BIOS, you either need to educate yourself, or get a more user friendly board (with a decent manual/tech support).

Rating + 5 Great price... Runs as advertised

Pros: Runs at 7-7-7-18-2T with my Core I7 920 @ 3.6 GHz and EVGA x58 classified.
Easily overclocked to just under 1800 MHz.
Obviously runs a little hotter, but still very acceptable.
Couldn't be happier with the purchase

Cons: Took about an hour figure out that this memory needs a 2T command rate (BIOS default = 1T)... Due to lack of instructions.

Other Thoughts: I have read that some reviewers are having trouble getting 1600 MHz out of their memory, which is most likely due to the lack of instructions. Recommendation: go to OCZ website and get their customer service phone number... call and talk to a live person.

Rating + 5 Great up until now!

Pros: Worked right off the bat with my new motherboard MSI 790FX-GD70 rnning a Phenom X4 965 AM3 processor. Doesn't seem to heat up too much but I haven't had a chance to put the system under any major stress.

Cons: None that I can think of - maybe just regarding the heatsink which is kind of "light" but it may well be that this RAM doesn't heat up to the point in needs anything bigger.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this 3 stick pack and realized it operates in single channel (unganged mode) so I am looking for a 4th stick so I can configure it as dual channel (ganged mode). Can't find it here on NewEgg... is it at all possible to find?

Pros: stable, runs cool like most I7 DDR3 modules, low latency

Cons: After reading various posts in the OCZ web site on what settings to use with the Intel Intel BOXDX58SO to make it run at 1600, I have not had any luck so far

Other Thoughts: low latency at 1066 is better than higher latency at 1600

Rating + 2 At least it works at all

Pros: Works at rated speed and voltage, but...

Cons: only with timings relaxed to 9-9-9. Anything less caused immediate BSOD.

Other Thoughts: Paid for 7-7-7 memory and got 9-9-9 memory. OCZ might think they made out on this deal, but only in the short run. I switched to OCZ from Corsair for this build because Corsair's rebate system is just plain non-functional. At least with Corsair I got the product I ordered. This is my first and last time as an OCZ memory customer.

Rating + 1 Would not run at rated specs

Pros: Cute looking?...

Cons: Would not run at rated specs (ddr3 1600 7-7-7-24) no matter how much I tweaked and tweaked my BIOS settings. Although memtest86+ passed perfectly fine I could not pass stability tests and would eventually get BSODs during regular use. RMA'd it at the last second (you've got 30 days!) and replaced it with Mushkin 998691 DDR3 1600 6-7-6 and now I am stable and running like a charm at the same settings that would not work for me with the OCZ (aside from the slightly different timings). Unfortunately for me it takes 1.435 volts QPI to do DDR3 1600 on my i7 920 d0 with tight timings (< 8). Maybe this had an effect on this RAM not running at it advertised specs, I don't know. All I know is I replaced it with Mushkin and suddenly all was well.

Other Thoughts: Newegg, please forgive me for double-reviewing this RAM. I spoke too soon when I wrote a 5-egg review three weeks ago.... You can delete that one because for me this RAM deserves 1 egg max.
Manufacturer Response:Hello,we are sorry that you had problems. We would like to have helped you BIOS settings on our support forums. This memory requires 1.65v. Running 1.435v was likely your problem.

Rating + 2 Follow up - still no 1600

Pros: Works fine @ 1333

Cons: Does not work at 1600, in my new i7 920 PC, despite numerous experiments

Other Thoughts: When I originally said that this DDR3 did not work at rated spped, the maker responded saying that I should come to their forum. I made the effort, created an account, spent my time and found nothing. It feels like a one man operation. The suggestions are not helpful, clear or technically sound. I now feel more disappointed than before. I was half happy, if a little underwhelmed. Now I feel actively scammed - like OCZ's response was just a shallow PR ploy.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, OCZ's support forums are staffed by several qualified OCZ employees. They do not have other duties, and only handle the forums. It is not clear if you posted for assistance, but in some cases you may not find the info you need just by searching. Cons: Doesn't overclock much higher than 1600, unless you want to loosen the timings.

Rating + 1 Can Not Recommend

Pros: Well, there is a song that says "2 out of 3 ain't bad", and I guess OCZ's QA department agrees, because one of the modules would not post out of the box. The two sticks that worked did so flawlessly and I had no issues with them.

Cons: Unfortunately, if you buy this pack and have one bad module, you have to return all 3 for an RMA. I mailed my set over 3 weeks ago, and OCZ received them on Thursday, August 20th. It is now September 8th and the RMA page shows that my RAM has not been sent or even replaced yet. I have received no communication from OCZ and when I tried to contact them, nobody in the RMA dept picked up their phone. This will probably be the last OCZ product I ever own, that's if I ever actually receive it back,

Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the problem with your memory and the delay. Phones are answered as we are able. If all techs are on the phone, you will get voice mail. Please use the communication link shown in the OCZ email response sent after you opened your support ticket, as this will get you in touch with your tech. Rating + 5 One more thing

Pros: Fast. Low timings.

Cons: I wanted to add one more thing to my previous review. It turns out I was not completely stable at 7-7-7-24. As some others have pointed out the tRAS is very picky on this memory. In order to reach 100% stability I am at 7-7-7-31 @ 1.66 volts. Still 3 times faster than any of the DDR2 800 that I've used before this.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended. May not do 7-7-7-24 but 7-7-7-31 still beats any of the cas 8 or 9 RAM out there.

Rating + 5 Exceptional speed, great timings, and low voltage! Need I say more?

Pros: This memory is amazing. My motherboard defaulted to DDR3 1066 at 7-7-7. I manually set it to DDR3 1600 and the mobo defaulted the timings to 9-9-9 @ 1.5 volts. Manually set those to 7-7-7-24 @ 1.64 (my mobo won't do 1.65) as per the specs of this memory and it runs great. I increased my geekbench score from 7487 to 7582 by going from 1066 to 1600. Geekbench memory score improved from 4200 to 4705. Geekbench memory bandwidth score improved from 4831 to 6099! As you can see, with an i7 system like mine you can get a lot of added performance going from 1066 to 1600.

I can only imagine how high these sticks will overclock seeing as they are at DDR3 1600 7-7-7 on just 1.64 volts! These sticks should be a tremendous asset to overclockers.

Cons: None. Zero. Ziltch.

Pros: At least their tech support is up to snuff.

Cons: I have to agree with complaints about OCZ's rebate policy. They've routinely lost my rebates and the ones that they do stand behind, take another complete processing period to receive.

Other Thoughts: OCZ has the worst rebate execution performance out of anyone; EVGA rocks!

Rating + 3 OCZ rebates can kiss my ...

Pros: The computer runs with these sticks installed. They look all shiny and nice. Have not experienced any memory related failures to date (then again, my i7 Win7 machine has not crashed EVER in the 3+ months since I built it). Price after rebate was amazing.

Cons: Memory will not run anywhere near rated speed on a stock i7 920. Your rig must be over clocked in some way to achieve rated speeds.

Other Thoughts: Unless you pay extra for expedited processing on your rebate, you can bank on waiting 10-12 weeks for your rebate. I, for one, will not be buying another OCZ product with a rebate. Considering OCZ pricing before rebates, I assume I will not be buying anymore OCZ products.
P.S. I sumbitted three rebates on the same day for my build components- EVGA $25, Corsair $50, and OCZ $20.
Corsair arrived in 4 weeks, EVGA in 5 weeks and I just got my notification from OCZ that my PITA Visa check card was mailed and should arrive at my house in 11 weeks.
Manufacturer Response:Hello we stand behind our rebates, and clearly list all terms on the rebate form.

Cons: None that I can think of...

Other Thoughts: Works well with my Gigabyte EX58-UD3R and Core i7 920

Rating + 5 Awsome Memory

Pros: I have been using this memory at the advertised speed of 1600 at 1.6v for several months now and not one stability problem so far! People that cannot reach these speeds either do not know what they are doing or have faulty modules. Also you cant beat a free flash drive.

Cons: the price went up so i have to wait to buy 6 more GB!

Other Thoughts: Core i7 920 @ 3.2 (cant find a reason to go faster, it blasts through anything I throw at it)

Rating + 4 Good RAM at a good price

Pros: Runs at rated speeds. Several days of burn in with Prime 95 on an overclocked board (but not exceeding the specs of the memory) with zero errors reported.

Cons: No support for XMP (lost an egg for that). You need to manually enter your memory timing settings into BIOS.

Other Thoughts: OCZ forums are awesome. While setting up my machine I took a look over there and found the exact settings for this RAM on my exact motherboard. Excellent resource, and excellent customer support, as the forum response came from OCZ tech support.

Pros: I've put this memory in its default configuration (speed and timing) and it works flawlessly. (In the past, not every memory chip worked for me as advertised.) I bet it would work well overclocked, but I just want a solid stable configuration and this chips deliver.

Cons: None found.

Pros: This RAM does what one expects: it just works. I'm by no means an expert overclocker, but it took my 2.6GHz cpu up to 3.6 without even breathing heavily. Plus, it's shiny. ;-)

Cons: It's not quite long enough to function as a samurai sword for my cat.

Rating + 5 Amazing RAM!

Pros: Very, VERY fast ram. Scored a 7.8 in windows experience index. Running stable at advertised speed and timings (DDR3-1600, 7-7-7-24).

Cons: It doesn't come with candy.

Other Thoughts: Users of the Intel DX58SO motherboard will need to update to the current bios to allow the ram to run faster than DDR3-1066 without black screening after POST. Definitely not a problem with the RAM itself, though.

Pros: The right pricepoint for an affordable 6GB of ram with the added benefit of a MIR. Tri-channel memory was recognized without problems.

Cons: Memory does get hot to the touch and lacks XMP profile. I should have spent a little more to get this to avoid overclocking hassles.

Rating + 3 Good @ 1333

Pros: Stable (at less than rated settings), low voltage, schwanky heat speader looks like a gangster grill

Cons: I could not get it to run as rated. My MSI X58 Pro-E mobo has lots of adjustments for DRAM timing, voltage, latency, etc but I still couldn't get the machine to boot with this memory at 1600

Other Thoughts: Works great at 1333. I guess this is why it is one of the least expensive 1600 DDR3 choices - a roll of the dice.

Pros: My boss bought it for me from Newegg when it was $60 after rebates. Even though it doesn't run fast, it's still a decent price.

Cons: This RAM will not run at 1600 with the suggested voltage settings. I couldn't even get it up to 1333. Anytime I try to bump it up over 1033 and increase the voltage, the computer will restart after 15 minutes.

This is false advertisment. I will not be buying from OCZ again. They sell RAM that can potentially run fast, but nowhere near stable levels.

Other Thoughts: I've had good experience with G.Skill in the past. I'll go with G.Skill on my next build.

Rating + 5 Fantastic

Pros: Runs at specified timings and voltage. Get a 7.8 WEI score in Windows 7.

Cons: 12 gigs does not overclock very well, but not the rams fault.

Other Thoughts: I do not blame this product for my overclocking woes. The reality is the on chip memory controller is to blame. The i7 works quite well with 3 sticks of ram, but once 6 are added it just does not want to work well with ram. Still I have this ram at almost 200 QPI which is the rated 1600 speed and have zero issues. I was able to hit 205 QPI with the timings relaxed to 9 9 9 24 with all 12 gigs, but I had to have turbo off. I just reduced to 196 with the timings at 7 7 7 24 and all is good with turbo and I still have 4.1 GHZ.

Rating + 2 Couldn't get 1.65 Voltage to be stable

Pros: I was able to get the advertised 7-7-7-24 Timing at 1600.

Cons: I booted into the 1.65 voltage and I was getting bsod on cpu load. I put the voltage back to auto and it was being set to 1.7 which I didn't like at all. So I manually set it to 1.67v and I got it to be stable through prime95. Its still wanting to pull in 1.68v.

Other Thoughts: I just wish I had the lower 1.65 when I begin to overclock the i7.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, motherboard voltages can vary, and the chip that reports your voltages can easily be off by a few tenths of a volt. The only way to actually know what voltage is being applied is to use a voltmeter, but for most customers this is not practical. Cons: Starts having problems around 1650mhz, but then again, with these tight timings, you can't expect a huge overclock.

Other Thoughts: Does what it's supposed to do.

Rating + 5 Great Peformance/Great Price

Pros: Under 100 bucks for "fast enough" memory that is stable and cool running. X58 Classified loves these sticks. To get something that specs in a 6-6-6-20 or better will run you 4x the money. That's gouging if you ask me. No real return on investment. Buy this kit and use the money saved to get a Bluray burner or upgraded graphics card.

Cons: No XMP at this rated speed. That's a shame.

Rating + 2 Rediculous

Pros: Now it works... sort of. They also look cool? I don't know I am kind of struggling here. I would say cheap, but they aren't. The time I lost is worth way more than the price difference between this and another brand.

Cons: When I got my first pack of 3 dimms, only one of the 2 gb sticks passed memtest at the given specs with no errors. So I RMA'd and now have my second set. NONE of the second set passed memtest at the manufacturer specs. I had to set the timings at 8-7-7-24 to get them to work. This is lunacy. I have wasted so much time trying to get these to work. I have tried everything. Why would they say they can run at the advertised specs if they can't? BAAAHAHAHAHAH that's like 6 hours of my time wasted. OCZ also caused me to RMA something I didn't have to, wasting all that money on shipping. I only gave them stars at all because they work now. I don't mind the slight timing reduction, but I want my life back.

Other Thoughts: If your sticks are giving errors try 8-7-7-24-2 with ~1.35 on the QPI. That should do the trick. The one stick that worked originally must have been the result of a really lucky bin. OCZ, only respond to this review if you have some plan to compensate newegg for the RMA and are willing to do something about my wasted time. This is truly ridiculous.

Rating + 2 horrible failure

Pros: great ram, full 6 gigs, when it worked.....

Cons: well to start off it was set way to tightly at to low a voltage, its supposed to be at 7-7-7-24 and 1.65V, mine was set at 7-7-7-18 and 1.5V

it worked for 1-1.5 weeks then i started playing a new game, BSod'ed after some errors with the game, ran memtest86+ and received 800K+ errors with one full test

if the next set is bad and my i7 isn't fried i want my money back to be honest, stuff like this shouldn't happen. especially when the box itself says the ram goes through stringent tests to make sure the ram is 100% usable

Other Thoughts: hope it works.......
Manufacturer Response:Hello, the SPD information on your memory cannot set voltage for you. It must always be set manually. You must go into your BIOS and change the 1.5v default to 1.65v. This should solve your problems. having your Tras timing set at 18 instead of 24 should have no effect on stability. You can change that to 24 if you wish. Rating + 1 DOES NOT RUN AT SPECS

Pros: NONE- It works, but not NEARLY how it is supposed too.

Cons: i was very excited about this ram until i put it into my system. It ran stock at 8-8-8-20 1088. Which is ok, i figured i just had to raise it myself, went into bios changed it to 7-7-7-24, and ATTEMPTED to change it to 1600. what a joke, i cannot get this RAM to be stable over 1088. I have tried everything, raising QPI, raising RAM volts, raising Uncore, NOTHING WORKS. I posted on the OCZ forums, i got ZERO advice. I have read all over the place that this RAM is UNDERRATED, not many people can get it to run at specs. I know A LOT about computers, and the fact that i cant get this ram stable above 1088 is hard to believe. I still have this RAM in my pc, running at 7-7-7-24 1088. I am going to RMA it, but figured i would post here first, so maybe OCZ will reply to it with some advice, cause there forum people just told me to raise the voltage. I went out on a limb with this build, and didnt go Corsair, i will never make that mistake again, now i have to RMA, for 15% and then buy Corsair

Rating + 4 Good memory

Pros: Memory seems solid and stable (at lower speeds). Has a nice heat spreader to dissipate the heat.

Cons: Memory will not run stable at advertised timings when running at 1600. Running Prime95, system would restart after about 2 hours. Not sure if this is due to the EVGA motherboard that I also purchased or if it is the memory. The memory was part of a combo deal so I would think that the memory should be compatible with the motherboard. Also EVGA shows the memory listed on their site as compatible.

Other Thoughts: First time purchase of OCZ memory, so hope I can get the memory timings figured out. I know that a there is not much noticable difference between 1066 and 1600 as far as performance, but items should perform as advertised. Will probably need to contact EVGA and OCZ to determine the problem.

Rating + 1 Fails at stock settings

Pros: None

Cons: RMA'd first set through manufacturer after system was unstable at stock settings, as well as recommended 1.65V DRAM, 1.35V QPI, 7-7-7-24-2

Replacement set arrived, is unstable at 8-8-8-24-2, 1.35V, 1.65V DDR as well as stock and recommended settings, Prime 95 reports rounding errors within minutes.

Whereas with PC3 12800 RAM from alternative manufacturer at 8-8-8-24-1, 1.25V QPI, 1.65V DDR, the same system is perfectly stable and Prime95 reports no errors after hours for stress testing.

Other Thoughts: Extremely disappointed with this product, will not purchase from OCZ in the future after wasting considerable amount of time attempting to stabilize a system well UNDER the manufacturers stated specs, that should have worked right out of the box, ESPECIALLY after returning a set of RAM for manufacturer defects at my expense.

Am writing this off as lesson learned.

Pros: Heat Spreader
Got a good price on it for the ammount of ram and timmings.

Cons: It doesn't auto configure when installed on your mobo, you have to go in and manually set multiplyer, voltage and timmings if you want it to match the settings that are advertised.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if I will buy OCZ again I mean how hard is it for the company to make the product auto configure.

I bought this type in case I feel like overclocking in the future or to run it at lower speed with tighter timmings.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we appreciate your comments and would like to explain the situation. There are many motherboards that will not boot straight away at 1600mhz speeds. There can be a few reasons, one of which is caused by the BIOS not applying memory voltage changes prior to booting. Automatic SPD settings cannot control voltage changes, or anything beyond basic memory settings. The result is that your system may not boot. This would prompt the customer to RMA their memory, only to find the same situation with another kit. The practice of programming memory for compatibility is a common practice, and is not limited to OCZ memory. We would certainly program this kit to boot at 1600mhz if it would work in all systems.

Rating + 1 Good memory: MIR Awful

Pros: The memory performs well and has incredible value. You do need to be comfortable with digging into you BIOS to get the most out of it so, as others have stated, be prepared to make that time investment.

Cons: OCZ's MIR process and, specifically, fulfillment house are boarding on fraud. I've done and do a MIRs all the time and haven't had a problem in quite a while since attorney generals in states started cracking down. However, this one is as "scam" as I've seen in a couple of years.
The online registration works well and the printout of directions and label is always a nice, added bonus. However, everything falls apart from there. This is the second rebate in a 3 month span w/ OCZ and the fulfuillment house that, shock!, the didn't receive my "documentation" and therefore the request is now "out-of-date". I've sent in copies of the documentation to the address supplied and have heard zilch from there either.

Other Thoughts: One of the best price to performance values in DDR3 Memory and highly recommended for anyone willing to put a little time in to BIOS settings and not looking to tweak to the last "drop".
The value and recommendation is striken from the record by a MIR collapse.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are very sorry for the rebate problem. Our new rebate system has been very well received and has been relatively trouble free. Rating + 3 it was a hassle =/

Pros: It's fast, it's cheap and it's rated at good timings, sounds almost too goo to be true

Cons: this memory was part of my first rig. and i was glad it posted the first time. it was a relief for me, but as time progressed and i started overclocking the cpu and testing it with prime 95 it would crash and produced errors. I had spend hours on end adjusting the cpu. finally i noticed I only got errors in the prime 95 modes that used memory. so then i got to spend even longer just messing around with the ram till i found that it would only run at 8-7-7-24. one lousy cycle on the cas cost me so many hours. at first i was glad I went with OCZ. but this whole mess has caused me to reconsider. OCZ just need to make sure it's ram can run at the specs provides. I would have given it one egg. but i finally found the problem after so many hours

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't necessarily deter from buying this ram. just realize that it's a gamble. some people are even overclocking there at the same timing or using lower voltages, but then there are people like me who got degraded or broken ram

Rating + 2 Bad Rebate/Mediocre Memory

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Memory does not run at the Advertised speed. Runs at 1400~ otherwise will blue screen.

Other Thoughts: Rebate was sent back to me for no reason. Resubmitted my rebate with 2 more stamps just incase. Was postmarked within the time limit and had a San Diego stamp on it when I received it. Sent it back with 3 tamps (the first one already post marked.) They denied my rebate. I got an automated denied (do they even bother reading the email.)

On top of that I got another email to contact customer service. I called and all i got was a machine telling me what the email told me.

I do not recomment this memory if you want to run it at that speed. Go for Corsair instead.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you had rebate problems. It sounds like the post office returned your rebate, causing you to miss the cutoff date. We can contact the rebate house for you, and given the circumstances, should be able to get your rebate processed for you. Please email rebates@ocztechnology.com and include your full name, address, product and date purchased. Mention that you were sent by the OCZ rep at Newegg.
Thank you

Pros: well runing at 1.64v 1600 and 7-7-7-20 no problems at all

Cons: had to modify everything in bios as ran originally to 1066 and 9-9-9-24 i expected the 1066 but not the latency also was runing at 1.34v so i guess for power saving stock might be best for some

Other Thoughts: running on a p6t SE no bios updates if any

Pros: Great memory. I have it running @ 1600MHz / 7-7-7-20 / 1.64v. Memtest and Prime stable. Haven't tried pushing it harder...yet.

Cons: None. Sure CAS6 or 2000MHz would be nice, but that's getting greedy, especially at this price point.

<rant>

One thing i'd like to say though; Can we please stop complaining about having to set the speed/timings/voltages? It's been standard practice for well over the last decade. Even if it had (proprietary) profiles, most people who buy this type of ram are going to set them manually anyway in order to get the most out of them.

</rant>

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a 1600MHz CAS7 kit, this is the one to get.

Pros: Works seamlessly with my P6T motherboard and Core i7 920 proc. Very fast.

Cons: With the i7 920 at its default settings, the RAM can only go up to a speed of DDR3 1066.

Other Thoughts: I'm using it on the first PC I've ever built:

Pros: Inexpensive, DDR3 1600mhz with 7-7-7-24 timings. Worked right off the bat, in fact i have 6 gigs running at 1.51v and cl 7-7-7-17 at 1600mhz. Insanely fast, huge improvement over my older ddr2 533

Cons: none, reasonable price, works perfectly out of the box.

Other Thoughts: Running at a little over 1600mhz at 7-7-7-17, runs perfectly.

Pros: Runs at rated speeds and timing settings 1600 MHz, 7-7-7-24 timings, 1.64v. Worked first try out of the box at these settings and passed 10+ hours of MemTest without an error. Great RAM for a great price!

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: Haven't toyed with the settings beyond their specified values, so I don't know about OC or reducing the latencies.

Rating + 3 Fast for a great price if it works!

Pros: Looking amazing! stay cool.

with rebate/combo deal/last weeks mem sale came out to $56.

Cons: Ram ran at 1066 7-7-7-18 out of the box, setting it anywhere near rated speeds i would either get bsod on boot or restart. Adjusting voltage and qpi/vtt also did not help much.

Got into windows with 1600, 7-7-7-24 1.64v DRAM, 1.34v QPI/VTT prime95 is instant bsod, interburn test errors then bsod.

Had another set of the same ram, tried that one and it ran like a charm. Not one error on prime95, interburn test, or OCCT for hours on end.

I guess its luck of the draw, if you get a working kit its worth it.

Other Thoughts: If you dont mind taking a risk and RMA'ing stuff go for it its worth the time.

Rating + 2 Buyer Beware

Pros: This would be a great kit if it was rated at 1333Mhz.

Cons: Could not for the life of me get this RAM to run stable at spec. Apparently I should have read the other reviews since it appears I'm not the only one. Maybe it's just my kit, but LinX would fail consistently after 10-11 minutes even with the VVT set to 1.45 and VDIMM at 1.675. Quite frankly no one should have to raise their VTT that high just to get a RAM to run at stock.

OCZ support has been non-existent as well. Really had high hopes for this RAM.

Other Thoughts: I define stable as being able to pass 15-20 runs of LinX error free. I run Vista and other apps just fine, but I plan to OC so I'm looking for rock solid stability in my RAM before I OC.

If you're an average user you can probably apply a less strenuous standard since it's unlikely you will place the kind of strain LinX does on a computer, but I'm a firm believer that something should come as advertised, and this RAM does NOT.

I plan returning this kit and purchasing a CS Dominator 6GB kit. Nearly twice as expensive, but if I've learned anything from this it's that you get what you pay for.
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you are having difficulties ruynning rated speeds. Voltage specs are shown in the specifications tab on the Newegg product page and the OCZ product page (also on the label on each stick), and is required to run error free at rated speeds. We have fully staffed support forums and internal support staff ready to assist you. Please visit our support forums at the link below for help with troubleshooting and settings. Rating + 5 Manual Tweaking Memory

Pros: Works at 1600, 7-7-7-24 timings after you manually set it up yourself. Didn't have to modify any voltages and on the Asus P6T motherboard.

Hasn't failed on me yet--even when I messed up the timings on my initial set-up.

(Haven't tried to overclock it yet, it's plenty fast at this speed at this time. Check out Tomshardware's article for memory speed on system performance for additional details.)

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: OCZ rebates are a breeze to track now. Thier online system is great. I get e-mails updating me on the rebate status.

Pros: rock solid memory used in compatible system..you will be very happy with this choice.

Cons: Hey it works and works fantastic. Will take a OC cpu and comes OC at 1600 anyway. Nevermind the color of the heatsinks..it's a gimmick no real difference between this and Gold series except optimum operating voltages

Other Thoughts: BE 100% aware that this (platinum series) is designed to run at 1.8 volts....note thats 1.8 volts.. and is NOT designed to run in systems requiring 1.65 volts. you can tweak this to work but why? The GOLD series is the same memory and designed for 1.65 volts. RUNNING the wrong voltage RAM will void your MOBO and your wallet. Read your manuals!!!!

Cons: No complaints whatsoever!

Other Thoughts: This RAM passed 9 hours of MemTest86+ (15 passes) at the above settings with no errors. Had to set the timings and voltage manually in BIOS, but that was not a problem.

Rating + 1 BUYER BEWARE...

Pros: Came with a free mouse pad...

Cons: Where to start... First installed in my p6t deluxe motherboard v1, and if you leave your voltages on auto it will automatically set itself to 1.8 volts, which will result in damaging your cpu. (specs says its 1.65) Will not run stable spec timings. Best I could get was 9-9-9-24 at 1.64 volts. Contacted OCZ and wanted to see about a cross-ship RMA or maybe a refund. No Refunds and if I RMA it has to come from overseas and i have to ship it to them first.

Other Thoughts: Save yourself time, money, and frustration.. DO NOT BUY..
Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you are having difficulties. This memory is rated at 1.65v as you state. We recommend staying with manual memory settings if you are worried about running 1.8v. We would be glad to assist you with settings on our support forums at the link below. Cons: One chip was dead on arrival, I can't return it because I processed the mail-in rebate before actually installed my system. Plus I dont think that they would accept returning only one chip and I can't afford staying without my computer for weeks

Rating + 1 Does not run as advertised...

Pros: Cheap (although they were not cheap when I bought them in Dec 2008).

Cons: This kit is advertised as 7-7-7-24 1T @ 1600MHz at 1.65V. This works on my motherboard, running memtestx86 (DOS). However system crashes, bluescreens in Windows Vista64 running prime95. I had to slow down the timings to 8-8-8-24 1T 1600MHz @ 1.65V, to get some measure of stability. Even then, there were random reboots once in a while. I got fed up of this and finally bought a Corsair XMS set with similar timings and it RUNS AS ADVERTISED, without any tweaking. This OCZ memory is actually 1333MHz memory (see SPD data in CPU-Z)- unlike the Corsair, that has an XMP profile, ready to go. To me this is a red flag right away. Pay a little more and buy memory that's actually rated to run at 1600MHz. [Yes I did raise Vccp and Vqpi, but it did not help] .

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. My system: Corei7 965, Corsair XMS TR3X6G1600C7 G 6GB, DX58SO Intel board. Windows Vista 64bit, Antec Quattro 1000W PSU, HD4870 gfx card etc etc... This is the last time I buy anything from OCZ.

Pros: Stable and will run at 1600 MHz with 1.64 bus-voltage.

Cons: Mis-leading advertisement. Advertised timings run only at 1333 MHz and not at 1600 MHz. Two sets of this memory (12 Gigs total) will not run at 1600 MHz on 1.64 bus voltage. This maybe an Intel issue.

Other Thoughts: Paired with ASUS P6t6 WS Revolution motherboard and Intel i7 920 CPU. Seems to be running GREAT thus so far. No issues with system after removing second set of memory. Now I have an extra set of 6GB not being use.

Pros: Works, Works fast, I have 2 of these sets because NewEgg was out of the 12G matched set at the time. (Newegg was even thoughtful enough to temporarily price drop these to exactly 1/2 the 12G set!) Heat spreaders look large enough to be functional, but also allow some space between dimms for air movement. I have not tried other brands of DDR3, but at the time these had the best price/(frequency+latency) on NewEgg. Even though many apps can't use all the ram, a 64-bit OS can, and I saw a huge difference in installation times.

Cons: Not a hardware issue, but many apps are 32-bit so even in a 64-bit OS many apps cannot use more than 2-3G of Ram.

Other Thoughts: 6 Dimms is a tight setup on any 1366 board I've seen.
