Great HDD
Pros: Cache size (32MB) improves the performance of this drive dramatically. Upgraded from my cheap-o Seagate 500 GB HDD (16MB) with this bad boy. I bought another so I could RAID them.
Cons: In another post a fix was found for supporting Time-Limited Error Recovery (TLER): To find it just Google the file name "wdtler.zip" that Western Digital made themselves. It's also pretty easy to find instructions for using it by Googling, too. Just be sure to plug in ONLY the drives that you want to have TLER turned on/off for, since it modifies all connected drives when you run it." This way you can turn it on to support RAID arrays. ;)
Western Digital is nuts for not supporting RAID off the bat, but the simple fix above is worth the time and the money you save!
Other Thoughts: For read/write speed increase, at an affordable price, I just enabled TLER myself. I suggest you do the same.
If you're attempting to setup RAID anyway, your tech level should be high enough to accomplish turning on TLER.

Failure after just 6 months
Pros: Quiet drive, quick shipping and great price. 5 year warranty.
Cons: I bought a pair of these and configured them as a mirrored RAID set... Now one drive has failed and I'm nervous about the other one going out. I had been buying Seagate Barracudas until they dropped their warranty from 5 to 3 years, but now I am regretting that decision. The last Barracuda I bought is still going strong after 2+ years in the same box.

Awesome
Pros: Got a great deal for this HD on shell shocker deal.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Just note that the 750gb has almost all (if not all) the features of the 1 and 2TB Hard Drives. The 640gb has less features, (from when I remember reading). Though, look this up, because things may have changed.

Good price, good quality, good warranty
Pros: It worked flawlessly from the first moment. Fast and reliable. Good price and plenty of room.
Cons: Windows 7 shows the capacity as 698GB, not 750GB
Other Thoughts: It's OEM, it doesn't come with cables, but these are usually included with motherboards. Haven't tried RAID yet, because I only have one of these puppies.

Pros: Absolutely magnificent piece of hardware. Bigger than most people will ever need at home, and plenty cheap enough. Fast transfer speeds, especially compared to my WD 160GB SATA.

Happy User
Pros: 4 years of HARD use, without so much as a hiccup.
Cons: It finally died
Other Thoughts: WD didn't even bat an eye. I RMAd the drive and they sent a brand new one to replace it! THAT is customer service!

All good so far
Pros: Arrived a day early. Working well at the moment. Have yet to run tests to check for bad sectors, etc..
Cons: Not an affordable SSD..... Otherwise, nothing so far for WD, but seriously guys and gals at newegg, there has to be a better way to package these bare harddrives than wrapping them in one layer of bubble wrap, putting that in a box, then using paper to surround that in another bigger box. My suggestion, Why not use those awesome biodegradable packing peanuts that Crutch field uses?
Other Thoughts: I'm assuming if this drive up and dies anytime soon, it was either to rough handling by UPS and/or insufficient packing. only 4/5 eggs because of questionable packing materials

Fast and Works
Pros: Fast drive and does great in my system. Not a single problem so far. I got it on special for a great price.
Cons: The 640GB model only has one platter. This one has two. If I wouldn't have gotten such a great price on it, I would have chosen the 640GB model.

Nice Drive time will tell
Pros: Price , build quality seems very nice 32 mb cache , 7200 rpm , acoustics are well tolerable as its a performance drive really not too bad . (but then again Ive always used SCSI or Raptors )
Cons: Hear me out before you bug out Can not use these drives in Raid , from what i have read or researched the physical difference is null between this and their RE drives (correct me if i am wrong) These drives as mentioned prior are of outstanding quality in appearance and specs and look like enterprise quality drives to me . We all know whats stops them from being used in Raid and there use to be a work around which no longer exist .
Other Thoughts: Using this drive in my wifes new build hoping it will last a while . Last build i replaced or upgraded and all previous always had ultra 160 then ultra 320 scsi 15 k drives to ensure longevity which they did provide with out a failure in the last ten years. She runs her computer 24/7(yup yup could not resist setting it up for folding shh dont say nothing :P) and i back it up daily so it will be interesting to see how this drive holds up . Did not have the coin to go with SAS controller , drive ect.... Hope i dont regret it :) all you guys out there that build your wifes rigs know exactly what IM talking about . They dont care about nothing just make it work perfect ! Its used for a lot of her work and is not just a leisure machine ........

Great quiet drive, long lasting, great warranty
Pros: Drive performs as a great modern desktop drive using magnetic storage. Works great in RAID0 stripes. I currently am using the drives for a total of 2.xx terabytes of space and it is zippy. The drive is quiet, doesn't consume a ton of power and doesn't run very hot.
Cons: None yet, but Western Digital has a great RMA program where they will ship a drive to you it is defective in any way and you put your broken drive in the box and send it back postage paid. The only caveat is they need a credit card on file in case you don't back your drive (because then you are purchasing that new one)

Pros: Fast, Reliable, and Western Digital.
Cons: Not really a con but I wish they would post the "true" capacity based on 1024 MB per GB rather then 1000.
Other Thoughts: Western Digital is the best for hard drives.

Western Digital does it again
Pros: Western Digital is the only brand of hard drive manufacturer I trust with my data. I have this drive partitioned into 3. 100gb for XP x64 Pro, 100gb for Win7 x64 Ult, and 498gb for data. I also have 2 external WD drives (cavalry) one is 500 gb and the other is a tb.
This drive idles at ~33/91
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I'm glad I went the route I went. At first I wanted to buy separate drives for each OS and use this drive for data. Partitioning everything makes it much easier imo. I just use XP for older software and PS2 game modifications so I don't really need much room but with a 100gb overhead I can always scale back down later.

Sweet drive
Pros: I am thoroughly impressed with this drive. It is both fast and quiet and has more room than I will possibly need. Boots Windows 7 on an i5 machine in about 30 seconds. The price was right too.
Cons: The drive is the limiting factor in the performance of my machine. Windows 7 gives me a performance rating of 5.9 using this drive. The only way to improve the score is investing in a SSD or higher rpm drive and I don't really think of the limitation as a con as the machine still runs incredibly fast.
Other Thoughts: I bought two of these to set my machine up to dual boot and both work flawlessly. Newegg did a good job with shipping, wrapping each in a large amount of bubble wrap.

lasted about 3hrs
Pros: None! Didn't live long enough to tell.
Cons: Had to RMA this after only about three hours of use. I've installed lots of drives, but never had one fail this quickly. Reading the reviews it seems that WD has its fare share of early failures.

WD hard drives haven't failed me yet
Pros: It still works after a month, something I can't say for a lot of drives I got DOA or that died quickly
Cons: It's a hard drive, it'll die someday.

very excellent
Pros: worked perfectly and seemed to add quite a bit of zip to my aging HP350. more so than the new video card.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: i over thought the whole replacing the old IDE drive with a new SATA --i cloned the hard drive and it was all plug and play from there.

Not as impressed as I thought I would be
Pros: It's a Western Digital drive... and that sort of says it all.
Cons: Compared to the drives that it replaced, the WD seems to be noisier. It also has a habit of pausing occasionally, even when it is doing something as simple as opening up a directory. I've found that backing out, and re-opening the folder will solve this, but it is still something my old drives never did.
Other Thoughts: I purchased the drive back at the end of October, and decided to see how well it did before I wrote this review.. So far it has been a solid performer, and I am mostly happy with it, but there are just those little things that keep me from being completely happy.
Knowing what I know, I would still purchase the drive for myself, and probably recommend it to others.

Excellent drive
Pros: Quiet 7200 rpm drive. 32mb cache. Price per meg. Excellent performance ratings (HDTune).
Cons: 0
Other Thoughts: Why wait for the 640? The 750 Caviar Black is an excellent choice for system builds. Was waiting for the 640 for the longest time being out of stock. Installed and run 7 x64 on this drive.

Good HDD so far...
Pros: Price for this amount of storage is a deal. Not sure what else to say --- it does what it's supposed to do and runs quiet.
Cons: Since many power supplies out there (like mine) still don't provide enough SATA power connections, it would be nice if a molex-to-SATA power adapter cable was included as standard issue with all hard drives, but I'm being nit-picky. It wasn't a big deal for me to go purchase some adapters for my assembly.
Other Thoughts: It's a little early for me to be writing a review on this since I just purchased and installed it. Only time will tell if this is a really good drive or not.
At the risk of this review being edited, I would like to encourage Newegg to use better packing materials/methods with sensitive equipment like this. Thankfully my (2) hard drives arrived unharmed, but there was very little cushioning material in the Newegg box they came in.

Disappointed
Pros: Would be great IF it work...(emphasize "IF")
Cons: Ready...set...oops why didn't it run? It didn't show up in BIOS. At first I didn't know which component is faulty so I tried all possible ways: changing SATA ports, SATA cables, power connectors, etc...No hope. So I jumped to conclusion that this drive is DOA...
Other Thoughts: I really hate it when I read 1-star reviews but now I have to write one. I've owned 2 external WD drives for a few years without a single problem. I also have several internal Seagate drives with no probs either, but I've read some bad reviews about recent Seagate products so I decided to make a switch. This is my first internal WD drive ever but I'm not happy with it. I even used a $10 off promo code when purchasing this but now I have to pay the same to ship it back. Hope the replacement one will work.

decent performer, so far
Pros: * decent price/capacity ratio
Cons: * none so far (docked one egg due to middling transfer rates overall, and pokey read rates in inner tracks -- a different drive i have, for comparison, has a slowest inner-track read of 70 MB/sec and a peak outer-track read of just under 140MB/sec)
Other Thoughts: After a somewhat rocky few months with the AACS green drive, which seems to confuse motherboards with its constant spin-down cycles, I went with the AALS instead and have had zero problems.
Test results (HD tach v 3.0.4.0) quick bench:
Burst: 218.3 MB/sec sequential read (outermost tracks): appx 97 MB/sec sequential read (innermost tracks): appx 48 MB/sec average read: 78.6 MB/sec CPU utilization: 1% random access: 12.1ms

Good drive for the price
Pros: Fast, quiet, not too warm for the performance. Great buy and NewEgg does a fast job getting the product out the door. Read the cons though
Cons: First drive died in 1/2 hour. Newegg packaging for the drives should be better. I did mention this to customer service but did not go anywhere. Next drive arrived packed the same way but did work just fine.
Other Thoughts: If you buy one of these drives download the Western Digital drive test software. It takes a while but you will know what you have when completed.

What a horrible Drive and WD Customer Service
Pros: It was nice while it worked. Can't say more than that.
Cons: Brought this drive about 2 month ago to go with the new gaming computer. Only after 2 month of usage, it started to have the clicking noise, and crashed. Turned to WD Customer Service for RMA, and they have send a 5400RPM Green Drive... and not only that, the replacement drive is a re-certified drive with only 6 month of warrently... NEVER EVER buying another WD product, EVER!

Such a Drive!
Pros: Nice to own, very fast searching, so if you read my cons, this wonderful drive is now partioned off as a back up and used only sparingly now, until I find a use for it. Perhaps a BU for my I pod which is almost full.
Cons: My vista would not recognize this drive when booting to a new install. I took it out of the machine and formatted it elsewhere and put it back into vista machine, but NO GO. IT is a big drive. Vista no like it. So, I go with smaller drive that virus had eaten, and I had formatted else where many times. And all was hunky dory!!! Break out the champagne!!!
Other Thoughts: Not today, my head juist hurts

Great HD!
Pros: WD makes a great HD in general, I have built over 50 systems using WD hard drives only 3 have failed in over 7 years of service... That being said this particular HD is the fastest quietest HD you can buy for your money! The windows experience index gives this HD a rating of 5.9, can't expect more from a HD that costs less than 80 bucks!
Cons: Shipping was super fast, just wish they could have filled the box with packing peanuts, UPS is not kind to their packages and having a box that is 3/4 full could have been a problem. That being said, mine arrived fine and works wonderfully!(you will need to supply you own sata cables)
Other Thoughts: I have a raptor 10,000 rpm, 32MB catch and it only rates a 6.2 on the index! This is a better drive for the money!

Great Stuff
Pros: I got 2 of them during thanksgiving and have been using one for Win 7 and the other one for torrent downloading. As of today both of them worked as expected.
They were bubble wrapped and packed within the individual boxes. They were then put into a bigger box with some wrapping paper to fill up the space. The bubble wrap popped on the side for both of them but I didn't believe it happened when they were being shipped as the individual boxes had the extra protection on the side. Anyways, the hard drives are still working fine.
Cons: N/A

As described.. Excellent!
Pros: I purchased two of these from Newegg. Using one as internal drive and another in external enclosure. Both work great. It's fast, quiet, and it's cooler than other hard drives that I have. I am 100% happy with both of them. They were packed nicely when I received them. Each were bubble wrapped, each packaged in a small box, and the two small boxes were inside a big box with paper filling.
Cons: Price now isn't the Black Friday price and it hasn't gone down yet.
Other Thoughts: I am a 100% WD fan. Seagate's 5 year warranty got me interested in them a bit, but still ended up with WD. I am not sure how the warranty service is handled now, but 10 years ago, WD shipped a replacement first so that I can transfer what I can, then shipped bad one back all with no shipping cost from me.

Excellent Drive!
Pros: Price/Performance value is well worth every penny
RAID 0 setup without a hitch.
Cons: None, I unfortunately got 1 defective drive, no biggie, it happens. RMA'd it asap.
Other Thoughts: Neweggs RMA service is fast, and easy to deal with. I would definitely consider making any future purchases only with Newegg

Not good for RAID
Pros: Large, fast, runs cool, and quiet. Data transfer rates are good. For the price, they are OK, as long as you don't plan on using them in a RAID.
Cons: Keeps dropping out of RAID and causing RAID errors. I have 4 of these drives. I am operating one as my system drive, and 3 of them in a RAID5 as my data drive. One of the drives keeps dropping out of RAID and causing degraded/error conditions.

These things are fast
Pros: It's a Caviar Black, what isn't there to like? These things are fast and run cool (31C in my Xigmatek Midgard with ambient of 28C) Load times are noticeably quicker than my Caviar Blue, and games like WoW which have high HD activity really help this drive shine.
Cons: I don't have a second one yet to run raid.
Other Thoughts: It comes in a thick layer of bubble wrap, and that's always fun. Samsung F3's are a decent alternative if these are out of stock or the price isn't to your liking. No reason not to pick one of these ones up if they are on sale though :)

Solid Drives
Pros: Working extremely well in my Areca raid 6 array. I set up 8 of these on one of my linux boxes to host a set of samba shares for my home. Other than one of the drives dying after about 2 months, they have been nothing but great. I would highly recommend these drives to any individual attempting to run them with an Areca raid card. They run relatively cool in comparison to some of my other drives, and to be honest are quiet enough for me to literally forget about that server from time to time.
Cons: wish the price was like this 5 months ago.
Other Thoughts: These are OEM, so don't expect anything other than the bare drive.

Very satisfied
Pros: I have 2 of those in RAID 0 using ASUS M4A79XTD EVO built in controller and I got read speeds from 140 MB/s to 240 MB/s. I have a virtual machine (using virtualbox 3.1) and guest Windows XP starts in about 2(yes two) seconds. I've paid 130$ for them and I have 1.5 TB. If I would bought a SSD I would have to pay around 450$ for 128 GB...
Cons: Not a SSD :). Maybe a little bit hot? Anyway I bought a front cooler for my case so is not a problem.
Other Thoughts: You will love this together with 8 GB of RAM and Windows 7 x64 edition. You should create one partition for OS at "the end" of the disk. The end of the disk has lower read/write speeds but it has better seek times. For your OS you want the best seek time since it works with many small files.

Fast, great price, but a little noisy.
Pros: Great price per GB. Fast drive with low seek times and high transfer rates.
Cons: Noisy. We're all used to hard drive clicks when accessing, but this model seems louder than others. I'm running 2 drives in RAID 0, so double the drives means extra noise.
Other Thoughts: My Windows 7 Ultimate Experience Index for 2 drives in RAID 0 is 5.9.

Great capacity and performance
Pros: Fast read/write times. Reasonable price. Worked the first time. More than enough capacity for the average user.
Cons: Not a SSD, Not 1TB. Ummm......... yeah.
Other Thoughts: I went w/ 750gb over 1tb because the price jumped $20 compared to the $5 increments of the lower cap drives. This is more than enough to keep most of my music library at high bit/sample rates, can keep several games on it as well. Now I need to find something to do w/ the other 500gb's hahahahaha

Good drive-slightly noisy.
Pros: Good performance, size, price, warranty
Cons: I've had experience with two of these drives. Although both have worked well, they sounded the same and have been somewhat noisier than other smaller WD drives - particularly when moving large chunks of data. My limited experience with these two drives indicates that although good quality, they are NOT necessarily whisper quiet.

Excellent
Pros: Western Digital rep and reliability, black series speed, drive size
Cons: None yet
Other Thoughts: I have 4 original Raptors bought when first release still rocking and 2 Caviar blue drives, one is as "old" as the Raptors, the other blue is a couple years old. At any rate they are all still doing what they are supposed to with excellence. I have had to RMA several other drives from various "big name" vendors, a couple more than once. Not one problem from the Western Digital

Pros: It worked for a few hours....then i smelled buring rubber, i open case to investigate and found the PSU had melted the SATA power connector to the hard drive... other than that it worked great!!!
Cons: none that i can tell

Where's 51.37GB??!!!
Pros: Western Digital quality, Black series speed, price - sort of*
Cons: 698.37 GB recognized by Windows 7 64 ! Where's the rest of my hard drive? Did WD forget a platter? Part of a platter?
Other Thoughts: Is Windows 7 64 crazy? The drive advertises as a 750 GB hard drive. I understand a certain amount of the drive is unavailable for system needs, etc., but 51.63 GB just gone upon physical installation? We are not talking formatting or any other process. I will be contacting WD to see what they have to say. Their web site says: Physical Specifications - Formatted Capacity- 750,156 MB - Capacity 750 GB. So far the drive is quiet and my computer "feels" a bit more responsive. I have not done a HD tests for comparison to the old 1.5 SATA it replaces. *I am thankful I got this on sale with free shipping. It maybe makes up for nearly 52 GB of drive space missing.

Packed Good
Pros: Packed very good. It was wrapped in bubble wrap, placed into another fitted box and then was in with the rest of my order. Nice job newegg. As far as the drive itself, it does it's job. I've only ever owned WD hard drives and not one of them has let me down.
Cons: not really a con, but for some people who don't know this is an OEM hard drive. Not that that is an issue what-so-over.
Other Thoughts: I would buy definately buy it again

Great performance/storage
Pros: Got a couple of these in Raid 0 for HD recording and it has given me utter flawless video quality with uncompressed 720p. I also got these on sale and Newegg brought them within a day. This is my fifth WD HDD in my little Antec 300 midtower, love it, love it!
Cons: I had to reformat my OS drive because by default, my motherboard was in IDE mode and I couldn't find a registry edit or anything of the sort to get back into windows in raid mode.. Just got a constant BSOD. Windows 7 was even snappier with these HDDs in raid0, but it was affecting the quality of my videos. So after just reformatting the OS drive and using the raid 0 just for games and video recording, I've been so very happy with the performance and space.
Other Thoughts: I suppose my "con" should be an "other thoughts" instead, but oh well. :P I'll just use this space to advertise where my videos go: Youtube.com/ThisGuyJohn
I aim to entertain, as well as inform. So stop by and hopefully you'll always come back for more :P

WD Cavier 750 gb
Pros: Running win7 64 bit and has had zero problems. Great gb for the money. Good performance for the price.
Cons: Windows 7 experience index rates it as a 5.9 which drops my whole system down 1.5 points. I suppose the only thing better would be spending 3 times the money on a sata 6.0 drive. Maybe in 2 years when they are more reasonably priced...
Other Thoughts: For the price you can't beat it.

Nice
Pros: Fast Hard drive. I am very happy with it. Good price. I purchase around 25 hard drives a year. WD has never failed me. Wish I could say the same about Seagate. Box of 15 Segates and I got two bad ones. I returned one of them never to see it again.
Cons: I had to pay for it. Price was good though.
Other Thoughts: Western Digital has the market on hard drives. They are all fast and work like a charm.
Thanks New Egg!!

Whats up with the packaging?
Pros: Great capacity and cache, 32mb.
Cons: You would think WD would ship their prodects better, especially a black caviar. The drive came in a anti-static bag which was placed in a box with my psu so that it was resting on the edge of the box, no cushion. I was very surprised it wasn't DOA especially with UPS' 6 foot drop policy. Im kinda worried about lifespan now.
Other Thoughts: Honestly, throw it in a box with styrafoam or something....anything

Good Product!
Pros: Very quiet and has lasted more than a year now (first with Vista32 and now with Windows7 x64). Reformatted perfectly and has been very reliable for the past year (I keep my computer on for 6 days a week and do maintenance on Saturday morning).
Cons: Only con is that Mcrosoft won't let u upgrade from 32 to 64. But that's a MS problem, not a Western Digital. That and I wish I had brought 2!
Other Thoughts: It shows up as only 698 but That's a problem every hard drive I've ever had of this size has.

Don't buy these drives for use in RAID 1/5/10
Pros: These drives are fast and probably the cheapest $/GB for this amount of performance (and they go on sale at Newegg pretty often).
Cons: The new WD Caviar Black drives do not support the TLER setting (it is disabled). These effectively make them useless in any RAID array which involves redundancy (RAID 1/5/10) because the RAID controller will think the drive has gone bad whereas it's just spending a large amount of time recovering from a read/write error. Without TLER be prepared to spend a large amount of time 'recovering' your RAID array after every unclean shutdown. And if 2 or more drives in your array happen to hit this at the same time, your array is toast.
WD wants you to buy their 'Enterprise' class RE3/RE4 drives for use in RAID arrays. The corresponding 750GB RE3 drive (WD7502ABYS) is double the price of this drive. What a ripoff. Especially considering the TLER setting was user-settable in older Caviar drives (and recently removed).
Other Thoughts: The world is moving towards redundant, cheap storage. Most consumer motherboards now ship with some form of RAID on board (Intel Matrix?). These shenanigans on WD's part reek of money-grubbing tactics to me.

Fast and Roomy
Pros: Great combo deal when I bought mine. The fastest single drive I've owned to date, & plenty of room for OS + dozens of games & programs.
Cons: 15-20% slower than a pair of 74GB WD Raptor Drives in RAID 0, I was kind of hopeing for same or better performance with the increased capacity, that some people said I'd get...
Other Thoughts: 5 year warranty... nice to have even though I hope it's never needed.

Close to velociraptor performance
Pros: Low cost, fast, quiet, excellent for apps involving big files, like Photoshop.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Will be boot drive for wife's computer when it gets upgraded to W7. Impressed by performance, expecially considering price. I've got an Intel G2 160gb SSD and pair of 300gb Velociraptors in my main computer, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how fast it is.

Good Value
Pros: I like the large size and I also like that the density per plater isnt so high. Means less errors. Reliable data storge. makes a great raid 0 drive.
Cons: Not the fastest single drive
Other Thoughts: I bought them to put into a external enclosure for backup. Also would make a great raid 0 array for inside the computer to either put the os or data on. Two of these drives in a raid 0 will be perfect for the average computer user as a main drive.

Got Two
Pros: Both worked out of the box, once I got the Windows 7 64-bit drivers worked out. I don't intend to RAID, just internal backup.
Cons: These are not quite as fast as the 640gb versions, but they were sold out. These are OEM drives so there was no documentation as I expected. I would rather have bought "retail", but newegg apparently does not carry them that way. WD web-site has everything you need for the drives, but nothing for the Windows 7 drivers.
Other Thoughts: I eventually got working drivers for my P55 Extreme MOBO from the ASRock website, but none of the online documentation appears to be ready for Windows 7-64 yet.

Pros: Bought two of these drives and set them up Raid-0. Fast access. Noise level does not seem excessive to me. Temps not bad.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: As always, NewEgg shipping was fantastic.

Very pleased so far
Pros: Installation and set up went very smoothly. 750GB, 32MB cache and fast. Checked to be sure it was recognized it in the bios. Booted to Windows 7, went to the disk management did a quick format. Openned Media Center and assigned the TV show storage to this drive. Shipping was unbelievably fast.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: Remember it is OEM which means "bare bones". There are no cables, installation disks or manuals. It came wrapped in bubble wrap. For the price, it was everything I wanted. For two decades I have been using WD and continue returning to WD for my HDD needs.

It worked for a few weeks. Windows wouldn't recongize the hard drive.
Pros: It was cheap. I got it during a black Wednesday deal for $59.99
Cons: I bought this hard drive along with the Western Digital Caviar Green WD15EADS 1.5TB during black Friday week.
Both hard drives worked for a few weeks and one day Windows would not recognize the hard drives. The bios detected the hard drive but not Windows. As a result, I had to reformat both hard drives in order to get it to work again.
Other Thoughts: I've reformatted the hard drive and will continue using it and pray that it does not fail on me again.
By the way, the 1.5TB was suppose to be the backup of this 750GB. I can't believe both failed at the same time.

Works
Pros: So far it works, really fast compared to my old one.
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: Either go with this one or the 640 version, but for $5 more you do get more space for very little performance lost.

Not the only direction to point your finger!
Pros: Like another reviewer mentioned, I have yet to purchased "this" drive but am including it on my current, and third build, in as many months, and the first two were much smaller (320GB less expensive) WD bare bones blue Caviar drives, and the first came in a foam encasement inside a blank white box packed in the larger peanut filled box with the other components, the second one came as the other person described, just a layer or two of medium size bubble, but high ml bubble wrap, (heavier the ml the louder the "pop" when popped, so it is good quality as compared to many other mail order distributors use) and based on the first order, I was rather put off at how both this and other bare components like the Sony Optiarc DVD burner was the same on the second build, 1st one in a plain white box with foam cushioned enclosure inside the box, and the second just the bubble wrap.
But these were built tough enough to remain intact, despite the lack of packing!
Cons: I would have felt the first method of packing would have been the standard though, and was somewhat disappointed by that aspect of that order, but I guess we also have to realize the sheer quantities of items being packed and shipped so close to the holidays meant that that "some" corners had to be cut to expedite the packing and shipping of enormous numbers of orders, to keep Newegg's speedy shipping reputation intact, I got everything much sooner than expected!
Well honestly none of these item have given any problems, all were easily plug and play installed on two different Asus Mobo's one ATX on micro ATX with Win 7 /64 ultimate.
All are performing up to expectations so really no cons for WD or Sony!
Newegg may not post this, as I understand this isn't "quite" with in their review guidlines, but felt other factors could have also accounted for the complaints, plus I have not once ever heard of Newegg not scurrying to make good on any problems encountered, and quickly at tha
Other Thoughts: The point is I was really surprised at the packing of th second round of components, compared to the first. I was truly concerned about shock damage, considering the one that was received the day before X-mas-eve, needed to be working by the next day for a present.
Thankfully there were no incidences, however it does show Newegg may not be the only one to blame for the other faulty components, since these worked just fine despite shipping in sub freezing temperatures, which subjects electronics to a higher incidence of shock damage, cracked solder joints etc.. due to disproportioned contraction between the non-metal and metal parts if any degree of shock is added to this equation.
There is also a carrier mis-handling of fragile packages to consider, items that would have arrived with out incident with the way these were packed, making it ok, I disagree with the person not blaming the carrier as well, if some make it fine, then those that did not, might have just been mis-handle

Great HDD, Very Satisfied
Pros: 750Gbs, fast read/write speed, 32Mb cache(though I personally don't notice this effect much, however am still very pleased)
I got it on sale, so I would recommend you buy it when its on sale, i got it for $60 I believe and if I see it on sale again I will buy again.
I chose this over the equivalent Seagate only because many people had problems with that HDD
Cons: None so far, very happy.
Other Thoughts: I'm waiting to buy another to see RAID performance

Great Deal
Pros: When you get 9.375 GB's per dollar spent, you know its a good deal. Plus Western Digital doesn't put out junk. I have two of these in my new build and could not be happier.
Cons: none...
Other Thoughts: I know there are newer, faster hard drives available now, but the added cost to get them doesn't seem worth it for the minimal speed difference.

DOA and poor packaging
Pros: Looks like a good drive. Thats why I purchased them.
Cons: DOA. I purchased 2 drives and 1 is dead out of the box. Now I have to buy 2 diffent drives locally so I can get this computer up and running.
Other Thoughts: This is my first DOA with Newegg. This is also the first time that the packaging was poorly done. But it could be a bad drive from the manufacturer, who knows? I still love Newegg and will continue to buy from them.

dependable drive
Pros: Good solid drive 'Black' only (5 year warranty) from now on!
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I had 2 'Green' drives and they both failed less than 30 days out of warranty (3 years). Stay away from anything WD puts out with the words 'Green'!

Well..
Pros: -Pretty fast. -32mb cache. -Was pretty cheap on sale. -750gb. -Fast newegg shipping, well packaged.
Cons: At first, this drive was very quiet and responsive. But, as I've used it more and more, it has gotten very noisy. and I mean VERY noisy. I have to put on headphones or crank the volume up just to drown it out. Took off 2 eggs because it's so annoying.
Other Thoughts: I could really go for some pizza right now.

Pros: I didn't think I'd notice any kind of hard drive speed increase from my old hd with a 16 mb cache but I've been pleasantly surprised by the speed increase in read/write speeds
Cons: Bare Drive.
Other Thoughts: I'd wish it came with a Sata cable and screws but it is as listed: "Bare Drive."

Awesomesauce!
Pros: Replaced a WD 80GB 7200RPM with this drive.
Used Acronis True Image to clone the 80GB to the 750GB and Windows 7 runs flawlessly without re-installing!
More than enough room for 40+ Games or roundabout but I'll never get that far ;)
Cons: None that I can think of great product!
Other Thoughts: 698GB after formatting in Windows 7...

great improvement
Pros: The first drive arrived DOA because of packaging. Newegg took care of me quickly and sent another drive. The replacement drive was well packaged.
Cons: Had to RMA the first drive
Other Thoughts: Newegg has always taken care of me and I will say I was really impressed with the improvement in packaging. Keep it up Newegg.

Solid drive
Pros: I'm writing this after using the drives long enough to feel like they won't die on me. I couldn't pass up the Thanksgiving deal from the Egg. Bought two even though I wanted RE2s or RE3s. The price was too good. Arrived individually bubble wrapped and boxed, within a single large shipping box. I was happy about that after reading that other OEM drives had arrived in flimsier packaging.
Nothing much to say about the drives. They seem to work fine. I have one running my new installation of Windows 7 64 bit and the other as a backup drive. Yes they are - like most WD drives - a little noisier than other drives but they aren't any worse than my WD RE2s. With any luck they'll last a good long time.
Cons: Other than being a little noisy (that's the reason for -1 Egg), none.
