Reliable and lots of space
Pros: Reliable and good MB/$. Lots of storage at 1.5 Trillion bytes ( not Terra Byte ). Simple USB plug and play. Bought 2 640GB Elements before this one and 1 500MB My Book, but ran out of space on all. Got this one. Used mainly for backing up the main drives. I prefer the Elements line over the WD My Book line due to the stackability of the Elements. Metal shell makes it safer to transport to work along with my laptop.
Cons: Typical USB transfer speeds. Not fast. But not slow either.
Other Thoughts: Gets a little warm after running for awhile.

Huge... Bang for your buck.
Pros: This Drive is Huge. Usb 2.0 = fast transfer times.(About 1 gig a min) Drive Keeps Cool under Extended Use. Very Quite. Small insignificant Activity LED that doesn't light up whole room at night.
Cons: Manufactures fault. they measure the Space by saying a gigabyte is 1000 megabytes but it is actually 1024. USABLE SPACE ON THIS DRIVE IS 1.36TB ... not free? Requires its own power supply. if you have a problem with this buy a 2.5" external drive.
Other Thoughts: Want to buy another.

Great Price for Lots of Space
Pros: Tons of space to work with.
I've never had a WD drive go bad on me yet.
The LED light is not blinding.
Cons: Nothing, lots of space for not much money.

Best external brand out there.
Pros: - Nothing flashy or distracting about it - Feels sturdy - Good bang for the buck - Great compatibility - Real quiet like - It's 1.5TB, dawg
Cons: - Formatting to NTFS takes at least half a day in Vista, unless you go for Quick Format
Other Thoughts: I've owned several Elements externals in the past, among other brands, and can confidently say this is the best you can get, especially considering the price. NEVER buy Seagate. They have terrible compatibility and they're loud.

WD 1.5TB
Pros: Lots of storage and very simple to use. Great price through Newegg and seems to be a very well built hard drive. I really like the rugged design and the rubber on the ends of the drive. No slippage and avoids scratching from the drive I have on top of it. Very quiet and no vibration.
Cons: No on/off switch, so I have to unplug the usb cable when not using the drive. If I leave it plugged in, the drive turns on when I turn on the computer.
Other Thoughts: Comes formatted FAT 32 instead of NTFS. Also the light is on the back of the drive which I don't understand because you can't see it...so what is the purpose of it. However for me this is a not issue because I know when the drive is working due to the window on the computer screen.

Good stuff
Pros: *A lot of space for the price. I plugged in to the USB and it was ready to use. I reformatted it to NTFS and the total space is 1.37 TB. The drive is quiet and no noise so you don't know that it is on shich is a good thing. I already started transferring data and the speed of transfer is really good. About 1 GB per minute.
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: Western Digital is a better brand than Seagate and there return packaging is much better since you can use bubble wrap unlike Seagate.

Quiet
Pros: I've been using this drive for about 2 weeks or so with Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The drive is being used for Time Machine backups. An older drive used to spin up and down all the time and you'd really hear it when it was backing up. I just don't notice this drive much.
Cons: None

Not bad!
Pros: Cost per bit, ease of use, packaging...
Cons: Had to reformat
Other Thoughts: Nice drive especially for the money. It's pretty quiet too. Gets a bit warm after long downloads but most drives do.

Love it
Pros: The most solid-feeling drive I've owned. The metal enclosure + rubber end caps make me feel like I can throw this to the ground and nothing will happen. It's worked flawlessly for me for half a year and continues to deliver.
Cons: Somewhat of a slow start-up time

Overall, good
Pros: Pretty good. I have a folder shared over our network used on this external hard drive, and it seems to do well.
Cons: Makes an annoying buzzing sound (I think it's caused by vibration of the hard drive running). There are "prettier" hard drives out there, but I was looking for quality without all the bloat software that comes preloaded with many external hard drives, and I got what I wanted.
Other Thoughts: Works great as a backup drive, which is fine for me. If you're wanting something that is portable, you may want to look into the Passports as this is not ideal for transporting.
