Pros: Good price.
Cons: I bought 4 on sale. ALL were bad. One would never format. The others would seem to work but then started CLICKING loudly and would hang the systems they were installed in.
Other Thoughts: I've had good luck with other Seagate drives. I almost never return things, but Newegg was GREAT in this case. Thanks!

Another hit with Seagate for me.
Pros: Large drive for media. No issues with Windows 7 seeing them.*
Cons: Wasn't free...
Other Thoughts: Upgraded from two 320 7200.10 or .09 to these bad boys. I run my Gaming PC, HTPC, and Kids PC 24/7 with Barracudas and they've had no issues at all, ever. Transfered about 600GB of data to both of the drives with in 3 hours from the 320s. No errors, failures or corrupted data.

Great Drive
Pros: Excellent price/performance. Longer warranty. Responsive.
Cons: The newer 2TB drives are coming down in price, so it may soon make more monetery sense to get those instead. Warranty could be 5 years...? :-)
Other Thoughts: Using these for almost 8 months in a SANS Digital external PM array. I have yet to have a single issue or hiccup.

Seagates are going down hill
Pros: Fails before your warranty is up. That's a pro, right?
Cons: I bought this drive to replace a 500 GB Seagate that failed (*shrug* it happens). This drive lasted around 170 days of uptime before dying. I have a 57% fail rate (for drives still under warranty which is the longest I expect them to last) with Seagates now. They used to be such solid drives.
Other Thoughts: I'd switch to another brand but the main competition doesn't recommend using their equivalently priced drives in a RAID and there is no way I'm running outside of a RAID from here on out.

Don't buy seagate
Pros: Compared to other drives it is on par.
Cons: 3 of 5 drives I purchased failed within a year. They all start clicking and then get write errors. Seagates replacement policy is for you to fill out a RMA form and ship the drive back to them. They get my old drive within 2 days from when I ship it. It then takes them 3 days to acknowledge that they received it. another two days before they ship a referb. which best I can figure must ship by camel because it is another 10 business days before I see the replacement.
Other Thoughts: seagate puts many stipulations on the packing material you must use to send the drive back. and then does not adhere to them themselves.

So far so good
Pros: Nothing really special about these drives. I bought four of them at once, three out of the four are working just fine.
Operates at full speed - the older models required you to remove a jumper to un-suck the hard drive, these came without any jumpers.
Cons: One of the drives failed after 8 hours of use. Refused to spin up. Seagate RMA process is very easy, they just need the part# and serial# from the drive itself. You pay shipping. I don't like how they charge you $20 if you want the replacement sent out immediately instead of after they receive your drive, but I'm not sure if that is any different with the other companies.
Other Thoughts: No louder or quieter than any other 3.5" hard drive I've ever owned. I can hear audible clicking when the drives are working. I have yet to buy drives from Seagate and not have to send one back, but the price was right so I stuck with these.

1.5 TB
Pros: Got it in less than 24 hours, I live in TN so I got it really quick. Free shipping it gives me a tone and a half of space, it is constant 7200 not like those green drives that vary. 32mb cache is great, im getting about 100mb/s when transfering bettween this a similar drive with same spped and cache. about 65mb/s with slower drives. great buy for not much, less that a buck per GB.
Cons: Had to pay taxes due to living in TN. Only 3 years of warranty compared to the 5 other brands give. Is not 64MB cache or an SSD
Other Thoughts: Buy it and try it you wont regreat it. this is great for storage, not going to use it to run an OS or in raid. Will update in 6 months.

Seagate 7200.11
Pros: Newegg sent it out very quick. Waiting for replacement.
Cons: I had the darn thing not more than a day and it seized on me. I had a friend run a few tests and the entire drive FAILED the entire test. Im hopeing the second one works better.

Skip this one! 4 drives, 4 failures
Pros: Makes a good paperweight.
Cons: An impressive 100% failure rate. All four of these drives exhibited an almost immediate appearance of "Reallocated Sector Count" SMART errors, though in all fairness one of the drives lasted almost a month before it started getting "Reallocated Sector Count" SMART errors.
Other Thoughts: I used to be a big fan of Seagate but given this problem and other recent issues I've had with other Seagate products I'm going to be less likely to recommend them.
I'd also like to say thank you to Newegg for issuing me a refund on these drives so I could purchase something other than Seagate!

5 Months and still works great!
Pros: Size, cost. I've had this drive for 5 months now and it still works wonderfully. See my "other thoughts."
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone buying a harddrive should also buy a harddrive cooler. Keeping the drive cooler will lengthen the life of the drive. After all, if you're going to spend a bunch of money to store your data, why not pay another few dollars to buy a harddrive cooler to make sure your drive doesn't overheat? My guess is that a lot of the problems with these big harddrives are from heat issues.
