Decent but flawed
Pros: Love the backlight. Good feel for me. Doubles as nightlight.
Cons: As others have noted, the paint wears of very quickly. I started losing the wasd, left shift and m keys within three months.
Other Thoughts: I contacted Saitek and they sent me replacement caps. Then I had a brainstorm. Clear fingernail polish. I coated all the keys with it three nights in a row before going to bed. I reapply when I notice it wearing thin. It works very well and is not expensive. One thing, while the polish dries make sure the keyboard is flat and undisturbed.

Great Keyboard!
Pros: Not only does this keyboard look insanely cool (red back-light in the dark is very foreboding) but it is one of the most comfortable typing experiences i have ever had. The keys seem to cushion your fingers for easier typing. And now I can game in the dark =)
Cons: I miss my calculator button from my old keyboard, but not enough to consider switching back even for a micro second.
Other Thoughts: This keyboard is way better than you would expect from it's price. I recommend it over the Eclipse II but it would come down to your own personal preferences. My friend has had the blue backlit version of this keyboard for 3 years and his is still working and looks great (I was afraid that the keys would begin to degrade and just become little lights rather than letters). If you want a cool keyboard with a back-light and don't need extra buttons for gaming, this would be the keyboard for you!

No Complaints
Pros: I have one at home and at work. I like the ergonomics of the board and the key press tactile response is good. The back-lit keys make it great to type on at night.
Cons: I don't like the wavy palm rest
Other Thoughts: I am a programmer and have owned at least 20 different keyboards.

Pros: Plug and play on Windows XP, Vista, and 7.
Cons: Paint on the keys can be scratched off over time. The S, C, D, and E keys are scratched pretty badly on my keyboard after 10 months of gaming. Volume controls don't work on a lot of programs. It will just change the volume of the system instead, which isn't a huge deal.

Worth Every Penny
Pros: Quiet keys, not overbearing, sturdy (well built), very good backlighting, adjustable brightness (off, dim, bright), very "techie" looking (yes it looks cool!). PRICE
Cons: Some of the keys are a little hard to read unless you have the keyboard at a high angle. The primary keys though (A-Z) are well lit and easy to read. Angle height could be better, the keyboard does not raise up very high with the built in collapsible legs (or supports). Why is there a $10.00 difference between the blue & the red?
Other Thoughts: I bought two of these. One red, one blue...I like the blue better only because it matches the blue lights on my desktop computer. I just purchased two more of these (one for a friend and one for my wife who both loved 'em when they seen 'em). I would highly recommend these keyboards to anyone who works in dim lighting or wants something really cool looking (that functions GREAT) on their desk. PS - I typed this on my new keyboard under some pretty dim lights, SWEET.

Pros: Great keyboard, lasted 3 years.
Cons: A few of the keys seemed farther apart than I would have liked, maybe my hands just aren't big enough.

Not Bad
Pros: It has red backlit keys like I wanted. Works for what I need it to do.
The Price i paid for it...
Cons: Spacebar gets funky, and by this I mean it has a little bent steel pin that holds it level , and if you hit the extreme right ro left of the space bar with just barely more than normal pressure the pin pops loose, and makes the space bar not go down level, and will NOT register..
This is not a good idea for a gaming keyboard, especially for First person Shooters.. !!!
Silver paint WILL wear off keys, and make them un-readable.
Do not buy if you have long finger nails, they will scratch the paint off of the keys in a hurry, so don't buy this for your girlfriend.
This keyboard will give maybe 7 months of use before falling apart
Other Thoughts: My friend has the exact same unit, and his WIFE has totally ruined the keyboard with her claws.
On a better note, this keyboard works great for a Submarine Simulator Game, and the red lights are fantastic for simulating the emergency lights in a WWII type VII Submarine in a dark room..
As always NewEgg is great..!

Good.
Pros: Good keyboard. Cool led. Smooth. Audio control. Relatively slim. Looks cool in the dark.
Cons: Keys feel gummy (softish). This is a con if your old fashion and prefer the "clicky" type keyboard, but I like it.
There has been issues about paint wearing off the keys, but hasn't happened to me yet.
Biggest pet peeve is that I wanted the blue led one, but it was 20 dollars more for the blue one even though they are exactly identical except for color, so I saved 20 bucks and got the red one.
Other Thoughts: good keyboard, decent price.

Solid board, great color
Pros: First of all, the red on the special edition board is an excellent color at night. The keys are well built and didn't break at all.
Cons: The "paint" or whatever used on the keys started to fade after a year or so after heavy use, the left control key and the s key after much gaming. Other than that nothing.
Other Thoughts: Great board

Saitek Does NOT Age Well
Pros: Let's you type in the dark. (Of course, a true touch typist doesn't even need letters on a qwerty key board. How many do YOU know?) The plastic "body" is sturdy.
Cons: MANY if you think you'll be using this for years. Early in my 3 years of ownership, my Saitek lost 2 screws holding back and front panels together and one of the rubber pads on bottom - a pain if you like to lie your board flat. Now the paint (paint?!?) is worn completely off 2 keys, obliterating "C" and the left arrow key. Others are thinning.
More FRUSTRATING than that: the keys are losing their conductivity. I cannot trust that contact will be made. I must hit some keys hard, but even then the feel of the down-stroke is unevenly stiff. Don't let the price and cool back-lighting fool you: this is another "disposable" keyboard.
Other Thoughts: I'm rough on keyboards. NONE has pleased me since the IBM Selectric typewriter was king (and for that, your fingers needed muscles!) IF you do a lot of typing - or tend to take your frustrations out on your keyboard, SPEND THE MONEY for the real thing. But then you're talking hundreds of dollars. Sigh.

barely ok
Pros: nice blue backlight. ok design/shape not bulky
Cons: THE KEY LABELS WORE OFF! Ive never had a KB where the letters actually wore off until now. Blue backlight is not bright enough. only good when ambient light is real dim. Blue light is brightest in the middle of the keyboard, weak around the edges(fail).

Nice keyboard for gamers.
Pros: No hassle to use. Great lighting in a dark room. Solid key feel and great for gaming. I've read that the red backlighting is brighter and more consistant than the blue backlit version but i have only had experience with this red version.
Cons: I have 2 of these on 2 pcs and the commonly used gaming keys are starting to lose the gray paint on them. One of them is fine after the same amount of use. It seems hit and miss as to whether you will have some fading on your most often used keys. Guess it depends if you slide your fingertips acroos the keys or 'peck type" like I do. That issue cost the keyboard an egg.
Other Thoughts: In spite of the wear issues, I just bought 2 more of these for Christmas presents. People who see it always go "OOOhhh...Ahhhh"

NICE
Pros: Red Backlit Keys w/ 2 intensity levels (control Brightness) Plus a 3rd setting to allow you to turn the backlighting OFF!.......extends Life of the keyboard. Solid Construction Responsive, No Lag So Far. Keystroke is good. The shape is cool. It's Lightweight and fairly Compact
Cons: None Whatsoever.
Other Thoughts: I wanted a Wireless 2.4gh Red-Backlit keyboard....... Not sure one exists that's worth the money as of yet.. so I settled for this! I could list a couple features that'd make this keyboard a lil better, but for the money vs features vs the fact that this keyboard was mf'd in '05, It's Awesome.
Overall, it's a decent keyboard. It looks Awesome w/ my Soprano RS Piano Black Mid ATX Tower Case (W/ all red LEDs as well).. so my entire system looks kinda evil....... I gave my monitor to a friend and got a 40" Bravia HDTV to replace it..........All Black Components now w/ RED Lights!.......... So this keyboard completes the look!
Buy This one!........it's a very nice keyboard......prob not the best for gaming, but you can pair it with a gaming mouse to make up for that!........ just assign more of the functionality to the mouse!

Good Luck Getting Support
Pros: Great keyboard while it works. Lighting on keyboard helps a lot in the dark also.
Cons: Only con so far is support from Saitek. Keyboard is randomly repeating characters over and over. While it happens, nothing can be entered on keyboard. Have emailed support with necessary information, but it has been over a week and no response even though unit is still under warranty.

Possibly Over rated
Pros: Good all around basic keyboard. Backlighting is nice.
Cons: Could give more feedback when typing. The feeling is a little soft. My favorite was the IBM keyboards from 15 years back that clicked with each keystroke. I've purchased 4 of these now and one of them had 2 keys go bad on it. I just submitted that one for an RMA.
Also seems pricy for what you get. You can buy similar from Microsoft or Logitech for 1/3 the price.

Great Keyboard
Pros: Really nice keyboard for the price! Standard keys with volume controls Good for average day to day computing and typing Pretty slim Nice detachable tray! Nice looks
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: If you are a huge gamer you might want to look for something more better but for average purposes this is an amazing keyboard!!!

Pros: Works great right out of the box, even the volume control, which I've had problems with in the past. The LED back light is bright, without being to bright, and the keys are very easy to see even in the dark. all in all very cool keyboard especially if your case has red LEDs like mine.
Cons: If you lay it flat the F keys and others on the right side of the board are hard to see it the dark (Just because of the point of view)
Other Thoughts: The key board itself is actually sort of flexable, good for people who drop it alot.

Nice Keyboard
Pros: Very nice slim keyboard. Keys have a good feel to them. I have been using it for almost a year and have no with the keys fading.
Cons: The brightness of the keys are not adjustable. Nothing major.
Other Thoughts: I use this keyboard for gaming and working. I mostly play COD4.

Great kboard
Pros: I have owned his keyboard for about 3 years now and had yet to fail. It is relativley quiet and extremely durable (lost my temp. a couple times and close-fist smashed the kboard and ripped off the kboard tray drop the desk). Love the backlight and all LEDs are still working 3+ years later. Has a nice look to it also, matchs nicley with my Antec 900 gaming case.
Cons: Could use a few more multimedia buttons and a USB port for flash drives would be great.
Other Thoughts: Rock solid kbaord. Stylish, durable, and worth the money.

The Way It Is
Pros: These are Nice Keyboards,The reason Im writing this is some dont understand the etching on the keys. Saitek has mislead you buy thier statment of etching. The Keys are NOT etched, Just the paint on the keys is etched...
Cons: Once the paint gets smeard off, you wont see a letter or number any more, You will just have more Lite comming through the key.
Other Thoughts: KEEP YOUR FINGERS clean&dry Dont use hand creams or other stuff and then use your keyboard,Thats what breaks down the paint. LOOK closeley at stuff, folks are easily misled.

LOVE this keyboard
Pros: - sleek, smart, functional design - With the back light on or off, the keys are easy to see - The back light is NOT wimpy - Volume control in upper right corner - Key sensitivity is just right; not too rigid and not too weak - Durable - sexy - sexy - sexy
Cons: Not really a con, but the retail box art makes it look like cheap generic garbage until you open her up for a very pleasant surprise.
Other Thoughts: Newegg's pricing fails hardcore here. I searched around and found it for $40 + free shipping + 7 day guarantee + $1 cash back in like five minutes. You can still find this deal on a 'certain popular auction site' ;)

Exactly the type of keyboard I always wanted.
Pros: I just got the keyboard and I am already typing on it without errors. Great ergonomics. The keyboard feels great. I like working in dark which makes this keyboard awesome due to the backlight which has two levels of brightness. The tactile response is perfect and the keyboard clicking is not too loud.
Cons: I wish the cord was a bit longer.
Other Thoughts: I finally got tired of the issues I've had with my logitech wireless keyboard and upgraded to this keyboard. What a difference!

Best Backlit Keyboard I Have Come Across
Pros: This is a brilliantly designed keyboard. By sticking to the basics, Saitek has crafted the best backlit keyboard I have ever used. The back lighting is adjustable, and the characters are all easily readable in a dark room. But what really separates this one from the pack, is that in a brightly lit room, you can turn the back light off and the characters are just as easy to read. The reason, I suppose is due to the silver colored keys. In my experience, the characters on most (if not all) other backlit keyboards are unreadable in a bright room. Saitek avoided this problem because in a lit room, with the back light off, the keyboard looks like it just has silver keys with black lettering.
On top of all this, I really like the industrial style of the design. I recently bought a second one as a back up just in case my current one ever fails and Saitek no longer makes them.
Cons: I'm not allowed to leave the Cons field blank? What silliness...
Other Thoughts: I have had this keyboard since the summer of 2006 and it still works great. There has been only slight wear (mostly due to gaming) on the 'wasd' keys, but I emphasize 'slight', was the wear is not noticeable unless you really look close.

It works good.
Pros: - It's a keyboard that has working buttons. The keys light up and are quiet when you press on them (to make letters appear on the screen).
- Cool red lights match my case lights. There's keys to adjust the light intensity, there are 3 settings: high, low, and off.
Cons: - Wrist rest feels cheap and breakable.
- Eventually the lights will fade, but it will still work after that, so there's no real complaints there.
Other Thoughts: It's a keyboard and it works. Plus, it lights up. Get it if you have the money, and if you have more money get a better one.

The best choice for the money, by far....
Pros: Excellent product. Perfect amount of light. Smooth, slick, keystrokes with just the right amount of resistance.
Much more solid than competing products.
Cons: Design looks a bit dated. I like designs that are a bit more subdued--i.e., without the silver keys.
Other Thoughts: I first bought a similarly priced O-Z blue-lit keyboard. I tried to save $7, but it was no comparison. This keyboard is night and day better in performance and quality (although I liked the O-Z's looks much better).
Don't make the same mistake I did--I spent ten bucks to return the other keyboard when I just should have spent the couple bucks more to the Saitek and get exactly (or even more than!) what I wanted.

Pros: The keys feel very nice, and are extremely quiet. The red lighting makes keys very easy to see in the dark. The palm rest is adjustable and its AMAZING!
Cons: Would have enjoyed more media buttons like Play/pause, stop, etc. The lighting isn't extremely even, but it's definitely enough to know what you're typing no matter how dark it is.
Other Thoughts: The keyboard tray of my desk wasn't wide enough to support my keyboard, but I just moved my keyboard to the left so it hung off about an inch, and with the palm rest attached, there is now enough room for my mouse, and my hands are comfortably supported and I can type with ease. Overall, GREAT PRODUCT!

Nice Keyboard
Pros: Keys feel nice to type on. Red back-lighting looks cool in the dark and at LAN parties. Gaming feels nice with the large space bar for easy jumping. In well lit areas with back-lighting turned off, the keyboard is still very easy to read.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I just used generic Compaq and Dell keyboards prior to purchasing this one so I am extremely pleased with how nice it is to use a keyboard like this.

Great keyboard
Pros: I have had this keyboard for about 3 years and it has held up great. All of the keys and backlighting functions still work perfectly. The backlighting is nice and bright and easy to see during the day or at night.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: if you are looking for a sturdy keyboard that will last you a long time and also look good in the process then i recommend this board.

a+++++++
Pros: keys feel nice you dont have to mash them down. never had any problems with the hand rest or legs. if you dont need a lcd screen or 238043294 programmable side buttons you cant go wrong with this
Cons: none here
Other Thoughts: i bought this my freshman year of college- 2005. june 2009 it finally died after thousands and thousands of hour of use. took 4 years of spilling cereal and drinks on it to die. time to order another one :)

Good Board
Pros: I like this board a lot. Very simple, straight-forward, and functional, but lightly adds to the aesthetics of a rig. Is the it the keyboard you can buy? No. It is reliable though, and looks nice at the same time.
Cons: No programmable buttons.
Other Thoughts: The four buttons residing above the NUMPAD(two volume controls, mute, and light intensity) are very nice and function w/o any hitches.

Pros: It's a keyboard. It works. Interesting action keys (can turn lights off, mute, etc)
Cons: Lights can be annoying, but they can be turned off.

Great!
Pros: Keys feel good to press. Looks good on a gaming PC desktop. Lights are very helpful in the dark.
Cons: The lights seem unevenly distributed depending on the angle you are looking at the keyboard. Barely noticeable and definetely not worth knocking an egg off.
Other Thoughts: The keyboard was at my office on the third day with the regular shipping selected. Good job!

love this thing!
Pros: very simple back lit keyboard. I don't care for any of the extra media buttons on most keyboards now and i got this with a promo code. The back light is great at night so i can change my songs in my half asleep stooper
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: its pretty!

Awesome !!!!! Gaming
Pros: It looks grate !!!!!! Never had trouble with it. Had it for a year before I got my computer together. Have had it working for about 6 months now . No trouble . I'd buy a Saitek keyboards again
Cons: I did not get another one !!!!!! Wish I would of got it in blue
Other Thoughts: I also recommend sicuro.com Titanium X L speakers that they don't have on neweeg any more don't now why. With this keyboard and these speakers and a Razer mouse. You ready to light it up gaming.

Great Keyboard!
Pros: This is a great keyboard! I love it a lot. The adjustable back lighting is a must, and I'm glad you can also turn it off!
The keys type very smoothly, the look and feel of the keys are great.
Nothing is wrong with this keyboard!
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: Who cares about the color blue. I like red more and it was cheaper!

Awesome keyboard
Pros: looks great, adjustable back lighting, keys are tight and responsive, looks great, ....
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: after using it for a month my wife spilled a cup of diet coke on the keyboard. I immediately tilted the keyboard and like 6 oz came pouring out! I thought for sure it was a goner! I turned the keyboard upside down and let it set until the majority was out. Works like new! no sticky keys or anything... pretty awesome! I used to strain to see the keys at night, but the red back light is sweet!

Still going
Pros: Nice feel to keys (travel, responsiveness, feedback). Brightness level of backlight adjustable (or off). Not too big or too small for a crowded desk top. :)
Cons: It can't handle multiple keys at the same time, might be a problem for some gamers.
Other Thoughts: Bought this back in July of '07. Keys haven't lost any of their paint, and I type on it every day for 4-12 hours a day (some times more).

Excellent
Pros: Love the colors, works excellent, responds fast. So far, great for gaming. I play a certain game where response times make a huge difference, response is instant. Keys are just right, not too tough to push, not to easy to push. The glow works great, I don't put it to much use however. Nice sound functions, comfortable arm rest. Little back legs to prop the back end up, I can't do without. Great keyboard, excellent price. Definitely something I would buy again.
Cons: Not a big deal, but I'd prefer if the lights didn't always come on by default. I almost always shut them off right away, so it would be more convenient if they were off by default instead. Also it's fairly light, but still, it's no feather.
(wish the blue led one had the same deal as the red, I would have gotten that one instead)
Other Thoughts: Great keyboard for a great deal, thanks Newegg.

Great keyboard!
Pros: Great keyboard, red backlight is not too bright. I game mostly at night, with the light off (wife is sleeping) and backlit keys are a must. The keys have a smooth glide to them, and are a little quieter than average. It is a very comfortable keyboard.
Cons: I love the thing. I have no problem with it at all.
Other Thoughts: If you game in the dark this keyboard is for you. There is also a blue one, but this one was 5 bones cheaper. That is the only reason I chose this one.

Good
Pros: *Good feel to the keys *The backlight helps tremendously for gamers(long nights) *Very sturdy(used it for a key board on my coach and took many falls and my dog jumping on it and its still in great shape. *Some people have said the the keys wear down and the backlight starts to blur the letters but mine is fine and the letters are still very crisp.
Cons: None that I can see
Other Thoughts: Just love the backlight.

Light Bright
Pros: Can see the letters in the dark. Solid design.
Cons: Not crazy about the gray keys and red light combination, black against red would be better.
Other Thoughts: It was a decent deal for the money.

Very nice
Pros: Red backlight is really cool. Keys depress nice and easy.
Cons: Letters and other characters may be more difficult to see if you keep lights on in the same room/nearby, but it's not too bad.
Other Thoughts: NOT laptop style keys like other slim keyboards. No installation CD. Wrist rest snaps into forward bottom of keyboard.

Another Great Saitek keyboard
Pros: Smooth and a real quality feel. Nice red lights...a fun change from the standard blue of my Eclipse and Eclipse II.
Cons: Well, I know the paint will rub off a few keys after a while, but no biggie.
Other Thoughts: Got a great deal, with free shipping.

Works well in dark, semi dark
Pros: Nice layout, KB itself feels solid, not light and cheap as I expected. Bright red easy to see even in paritally lit room, nice contrast with my blue lit case.
Has volumn up/down/mute and light full/low/off buttons over number pad, don't need more than that.
Cons: Kinda light, slippery touch to keys due to grey paint. I miss the IBM 5150 clicky clacky style.
Other Thoughts: Easily the most satisfying, $ for $, investment I've made in my case that is not for function.
I also use a MS Bluetooth 2.0 KB, which looks nice but can't see keys in the dark, I touch type AZ but not numbers/F keys/etc, lol.

Just what I needed
Pros: Adjustable backlit keys, nice red color, it works as expected.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I do alot of racing with rFactor, mostly at night. Most input is via a G25 wheel but you do still have to use the keyboard. I was using a small battery powered led booklight that I had attached so I could see the keyboard in the dark. This solves all that and works great. I'm very pleased with it.

Feels good.
Pros: It's your standard keyboard, which is great for me because I had been using a low-profile one for the past year that stopped lighting up. This one looks like it will stay bright for a long time, and I can type much more comfortably now with a standard keyboard with feet to prop it up and a wrist-rest. This is great.
Cons: Does not support PS/2, which means instead of using my adapter I have to use one of my last remaining USB ports. More function buttons would be nice, but one of the reasons I got it is because its smaller and less expensive than some of the function key hogs out there. Some have mentioned that the characters don't appear to fully illuminate, but I find this is only when looking at them from a certain angle, and you can still read them fine.
Other Thoughts: I don't understand why this board doesn't have as high a rating as its blue brother. As far as I can tell they have the exact same specs and the only difference is color. I guess it has to do with sample sizes and blue being more popular.

awesome
Pros: Awesome backlight I now have absolutely no problem seeing my keyboard in a totally dark room. I used to have to keep a lamp on while typing but no more!!
Cons: none so far.
Other Thoughts: I love the 3 light settings that are on it. You can set it to high, low or off so you don't wear out you LED lights if you don't need to use it.

Pros: Backlighting makes it excellent for night gamers.
Cons: I use the numpad for moving in games. When using the numpad you can not use 3 buttons at once. So if I'm using a button for walk I can not use forward and left to walk at an angle.
Other Thoughts: The three button situation is a killer for me, looks like I'm looking for another keyboard.

Excellent
Pros: Excellent Quality Keyboard, with the free shipping that was offered with it, you can't beat the price or the quality! No problems plugging it in or anything.
Cons: The feet that are on the KB are stuck on there with adhesive. and the one on the left, closest to the user has come off and isn't really sticking back on, but it doesn't affect the usability really, probably could just super glue it or paste it back on somehow.

Good for the price...
Pros: Running USB Keyboard drivers on Vista x64 just fine. Sound controls work with no problems. All the keys are in a normal place- no goofy stylized configurations that make typing awkward.
Cons: The lighting difference between high and low is not very big. Seems that on and off would be just fine. Certain keys are brighter than others.
Other Thoughts: If you're not being too picky, this keyboard is great. Everything functions well and looks pretty cool too. If you're willing to pay $70 for something better, chances are you're getting a whole bunch more features as well.

Not too bad
Pros: I love the feel of the keys, they're quiet and soft. The red backlight looks neat and quite different than a common blue backlight. The keyboard's shape is fun. Also the keyboard looks neat even if the light is turned off because all the keys are silver.
Cons: The backlight is not that bright. I could see it coming in handy if you we in absolute darkness, how my monitor provides more than enough light to see the keyboard fine without the backlight. Also not many function keys (only volume control and backlight control)
Other Thoughts: Backlight needs to be brighter, then maybe I would have use for the 2 different levels of backlight setting. If this keyboard had not been so expensive, it would have got 4 eggs.

sweet ride
Pros: ERGONOMICS: The weight, touch, and design of this keyboard is my favorite in 30 years of computing. I fell in love with it right away.
DURABILITY: No problems with the paint or keycaps after a year of hard use. Looks and feels as good now as it did when it was new out of the box.
Cons: BACKLIGHT: I use it with the backlight off, but if you depend on it you may find the illumination a bit uneven. While it's plenty to see what you're doing in the dark, some of the keys have dark spots, so it's just not as _pretty_ as it could be. Also, the backlight reverts to the brightest setting when you restart. That said, I much prefer the red LEDs over the blue for use in the dark.
WRIST REST: The wrist rest seemed to be an afterthought, and may distract from the solid feel of the keyboard. I just didn't bother with it. If you use the keyboard on your desk surface it's really not necessary.
Other Thoughts: INSTALL: When installing the Saitek Eclipse keyboard, if Windows prompts you for drivers, it may simply be missing the USB.INF file. Check your Windows\Inf folder to make sure this file is there; if not it can be recopied from the Windows installation CD (you may need to use EXTRACT.EXE to uncompress the file).

Not perfect
Pros: It looks beautiful. Even after three years and some of the silver finish has rubbed off two keys. The finish coming off started happening after only a few weeks and I was a bit dismayed at first, but it didn't persist for some reason. I might have had some grease on my hands from eating my sister's awesome fried chicken and playing WoW at the same time. Oops. Be careful doing things like that. Under normal use (and even a few eating n playing sessions if you're careful), I'd say that the keys hold up to normal use pretty good. Somehow, the word "Eclipse" has half rubbed off, too. I don't know how that happened since I never even touch that part, but it did.
I never used the software with the keyboard so that I could use the special control keys, so I don't know how well that works, but would guess they work as they are intended since the rest of the board's features work fine under standard plug-n-play circumstances.
I like having three lighting intensities.
It's sturdy.
Cons: I know that the board is sturdy because I had to take it apart after it stopped working suddenly. None of the keys respond, but it still looks pretty on my desk a'glowin.
The board powers upon post, but none of the keys work. I can't enter the BIOS and I can't log into my Windows account. I have an account without a password that I can log into and when I connect the board in it Windows XP tells me that there is a problem with this USB device.
I took the board apart and was expecting to find some damage, but there was none. Online reviews about this board mentioned that the LEDs get hot if you leave it on a lot and that can cause the circuitry paths to melt. While that may have happened, it didn't look like it. In fact, I used to leave my PC on all the time, but now, after having gotten married, I turn it off and only now am I experiencing problems. Odd.
Other Thoughts: I give it only three eggs because I did get some good gaming use out of this board. I also write rather extensively, and it's a good board for this as well as gaming. Yes, there are much better gaming products out there, but this one will meet or exceed the quality of most of them.

It works
Pros: Good solid feel; does not move when typing. Good feedback on the keys. Nice design.
Cons: Backlight not near bright enough; keys are silver and there is not enough contast with the red lit letters. Dont get this keyboard for the backlight.
Other Thoughts: Good feel but dimly lit.

Great Keyboard..Just wish I got it
Pros: I have had this keyboard for over a year but It was wearing out from my extreme, gaming, usage..I saw it was on the "jaw dropping" daily deal for only $21 shipped free so I jumped on it...sad thing is I did not recieve it..instead i received over $750.00s worth of other gear..see other thoughts for that nightmare..
Cons: for a price like $21.00 shipped there are no cons..even at 40 dollars its worth it but I have a limited income and can not justify buying a corded keyboard at the normal price
Other Thoughts: Honesty can be very costly at NewEgg!...instead of my keyboard I rcvd. three 1 TB WD green hard drives...2 250 gig seagate HDs...a 9800GTX+ 512 meg vid card and an intel cpu heatsink and fan...the box and all documentation stated it was a keybaord so I could have just kept all the mis-shipped gear as a late christmas present :))...but I am seriousely honest So I grabbed a live chat with newegg customer service...long story short ..they would not send a package pickup slip to retreive the mis shipped gear...they said I must get the package to the nearest U.P.S. facility(nearest for me is 80 miles round trip..I told them I was disabled and snowed in..they said sorry for the inconvenience...all in all I ended up having to pay to have the gear delivered to the U.P.S. facility..no keyboard..loss of over $100(that $100s was supposed to pay for the vista premium 64 bit OS)..now I must wait another month to get the funds to buy the operating system..honesty bites!

Great Gift
Pros: Got this for my father-in-law as an X-mas gift. He loves it he sometimes can't sleep at night so plays on his computer but doesn't want the lights on. This has helped him see what he's hitting.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I have the Saitek Eclipse II myself and I love that one also Never had an issue with either one.

Cheap Feel
Pros: Red Back lit keys.
Cons: I don't know why everyone gave this keyboard such great reviews. It's just a keyboard. I didn't find anything great about except the back lighting on the keys. It feels cheaply made and my hands always slip off the plastic wrist rest.
Other Thoughts: I bought it for my son. He was using my ABS M1 mechanical keyboard for awhile and I didn't want him to mess it up. The ABS M1 is 100 times better than this Saitek Eclipse. It also matches his red Razer Diamondback mouse.

PERFECT TOUCH
Pros: This Keyboard is simple yet solid and beautiful. The keys are soft and quiet to the touch. It is also very comfortable and easy to use. Unlike in some other reviews, This keyboard is evenly backlit throughout and every key is perfectly clear even when it is set on dimm. I really like this one much better than the blue one. I'm gonna buy another one for my new build :)
Cons: I didn't buy two :{
Other Thoughts: This is my second Saitek keyboard. The first one was the same except that it was a blue-lit one. It took a real beating for almost 3 years with heavy gaming and it still works. I just could pass up on trying the red one and I'm glad I did because this one is awesome.

Pros: Excellent build quality and very sturdy board that makes no creeking noises when you twist and turn the board. Satin black board and metallic silver keys scheme looks great.
Windows XP 32-bit immediately recognized this board and its features were fully operational upon the first start up. Three lighting levels: Bright, Dim, Off. Volume buttons work as intended: Quieter, Louder, Mute.
Typing sensation is relatively soft. Don't expect the loud clickity-clackity sound from some boards, this Saitek Eclipse is very silent. No problem with multiple keys pressed simultaneously in games.
Many people who own the earlier versions of this board complain of the silver painting on the keys wearing off after an extended period of use. Mind you, this was the biggest worry I had while purchasing and the instant I received it in the mail I spent the first couple minutes scratching at the keys. You would need something extremely sharp to scrape off any of this paint, it feels very durable.
Cons: The only major con is the uneven back lighting. The lighting under the normal typewriting and function keys is almost perfect, however the numpad and other keys are very blotchy. Single light source for the space bar is off center so the stripe is very bright on one side and lacking on the other. The lighting under the Home/End/Page Up/Page Down/etc keys looks almost dark maroon or a very dim red from a normal viewing angle as a result of the poor lighting.
Only other minor gripe I have with this board is that every time you restart your computer, it also resets the keyboard's lighting settings. The keyboard will restart in its brightest setting if you had it turned off or had it set to the dim setting and cannot change it until Windows is loaded. Very minor con if it should even be considered one.
Other Thoughts: Picked up this board for $19.99 and free shipping. For that price it is an exceptional value. Very basic and standard size keyboard that is very comfortable to type on. For its original price $39.99 however, I would suggest spending a bit more and purchasing something with better lighting if you plan to use it primarily in the dark and if you desire more features.

Works well
Pros: Weighted nicely so it doesn't slide around, the keys are very easy to type quickly on. I don't use the backlight, but there's a function key so it's easy to turn down/off if desired when starting up.
Cons: n/a

Not bad...
Pros: Its a standard keyboard, kind of pretty, and it came with the color I wanted. Being able to adjust the level of light is nice, as not all of us type in the dark nor want the distraction all the time. USB/PS2 interface choice is nice. I don't much see the point of a USB keyboard since PS2 works just as well unless you have some pretty fancy stuff on your keyboard. This one doesn't require it at all. A nice plug and play unit.
Cons: Keys are a little less responsive than I personally like, but they're not bad in any sense. Its more on the downstroke. It isn't as positive of a depression as I like.
Other Thoughts: Cheaper to just buy a basic keyboard, but it was on sale with free shipping, and the nicely cheap (lite-on and others) keyboards never have free shipping. Paying as much for shipping as the keyboard just bothers me. =) Figured my daughters would like the red lighting, Saitek has been good to me in the past, so I bought it on a whim. Figured you get what you pay for, usually, so I splurged a tiny bit.

Great deal
Pros: Looks cool, functional, cheap(21 shipped). Great for the price.
Cons: Only function keys are volume and the back light, I really miss my calculator button as I use this 3-5 times a day. Quite unevenly lit, the num pad and home row keys have less than 1/2 the amount of light as the rest of the KB. It misses about 3/100 keystrokes. Much louder than my previous MS Curve 2000, which never missed a key.
Other Thoughts: Over all a good buy. I thought I ordered the blue one and was surprised when I plugged it in and saw red. You can see the keys fine with all the lights off even with the uneven lighting.
Would buy again for same price but not full. 8/10

RED KEYBOARD LIGHTING?!? YES!
Pros: THE PRICE! Got it on sale for $21, can't beat that. Love the red special edition glow, it's a clean keyboard. Haven't tested it for gaming yet, but it's just plug and go, no software required like some other keyboards.
Cons: The light isn't equally distributed, it's brighter around the GHVB keys and then gets dimmer as it goes out, I kinda wish that they had more bulbs behind the keys to make it equally bright, but for $21, i can't complain too much. It's still a great looking keyboard.
Other Thoughts: I'm using it with my laptop because I hate having to hunch over to get close to the laptop. Oh wow, still getting use to using an external keyboard, everything I typed above was typed with my laptop keyboard, but just switched over to the Saitek a few seconds ago and it's really smooth.

2nd Eclipse I have bought
Pros: I bought this one as a gift.....the Saitek Eclipse is IMO the best keyboard for me. And the next keyboard I have to buy as a gift will be this keyboard. I probably won't need to replace mine for a long time, it still looks as good as the day I bought it. Keys are all perfect, not a bunch of wasted space with programmable keys that I never use anyways. Price is excellent.
Cons: Does Saitek have a mouse?
Other Thoughts: If you want a great keyboard at a great price, get this. If not, you are stupid.

Pros: I'm able to type in the dark.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I really wanted the blue version but I wasn't willing to pay the premium for it. The red does the job just fine but isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the blue version would have been.

Nice Look
Pros: This is a very nice keyboard. Easy to hookup and vista reconized it, no problem. Now I can play BF2 at night without the lights. This was my best Christmas present this year.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Newegg Rocks

Good keyboard
Pros: Of course, the lighting. The keys have a nice feel to them. When pressed they have just the right amount of action to let you know you pressed the key but be ready to be pressed again. No funky space-saving key layout.
Cons: Nothing, really. I mean it's a keyboard. How nitpicky can you get? Could use a play/pause media key, that's the only one I miss.
Other Thoughts: I'd say the keyboard is Medium on quietness. Not too loud, but not extremely quiet either. The lighting works well and looks awesome. I was surprised that it's a little heavy, probably not used to such a solid keyboard.

Favorite Keyboard Ever
Pros: Very nice keys they take very little effort to type with. Love them. Red lights are really cool looking. Really like the three settings for the light high, low, and off. Would be willing to buy one of these again.
Cons: None other than I wish I would of bought this when it was $23 but oh well I got it at $30
Other Thoughts: If you are using Windows XP Pro SP3 you should have no problem with the volume buttons working. Worked just fine for being a USB keyboard for setting up BIOS.

Sweet keyboard
Pros: The keys look fantastic with the RED lighting behind them. The keys have a soft feeling when typing without feeling mushy. Not too loud when typing, either. The lighting is adjustable with 2 levels, or you can simply turn it off for use in the day time. Looks sexy too.
Cons: The volume controls don't work at all. Comes with no drivers at all, so if your Windows drivers magically support the volume controls, more power to you. Seems kind of like a hit-or-miss affair though. The palm rest works, but its too small to call a "rest" really. At least it comes with one though. It has a stupid design though. It bulges to the proper size on the extreme right and left, but only your left hand gets the whole rest, the right hand gets the stylised, narrower section that is actually pretty uncomfortable while typing.
Other Thoughts: The keys are clear plastic with paint on them. As a result, there is a little more friction than normal on the top of each key, which is nice. However, I could see that over a year or two, this paint will come off, and all you will see is the red LED underneath... Also, the keyboard is USB only with no PS/2 adapter, so if your BIOS decides not to play nice with it, you're out of luck without another board around.

Pros: Adjustable level Backlighting. Volume control and mute on keyboard. Interesting shape. Silent when typing. Looks great with hightech black PCs
Cons: Strange texture of keys. keyboard touch has no feedback or click when typing. Small Enter key.
Other Thoughts: Got this for my HTPC and it works great in the dark. The volume buttons are nice for quick adjustment. Everything was recognized and worked with my XP OS. no drivers needed. Wish they had the blue model on sale.

Good fun keyboard
Pros: I own the blue version for over a year so decided to buy a red one also.
Cons: None, could use a variable dimmer and maybe more shortcut keys.

awesome
Pros: The glow of the keyboard obviously is amazing, i use to have the blue one, and i loved it until its death after many years, and once i saw this one on sale, i had to get it, because i love the feel and quality of it.
Cons: its not a life time keyboard. i had some keys go on me, and stop working over a couple of years. take it i do beat the living #$% out of my keyboard with typing papers and intense gaming, so it had a great life, and this one is holding its on. i already split hot wax all over it and not a problem!
Other Thoughts: buy it, i love it in the dark. for the price and what your getting, its awesome.

Not bad
Pros: Got it on sale because the red version was less than the blue version. The letters on the keyboard light up so you can type in the dark. However you'll need to look closely sometimes because of the red color, and it is the letters that light up, not the whole key.
It's slim so you can tuck it away easily on keyboard drawers with low clearance.
Cons: Its wired. USB only.
Other Thoughts: The blue eclipse may be more easily seen in the dark. If the whole key lit up with the lettering in black, it would probably give better contrast.

Pros: Great for the price, much silenter keys compared to my generic keyboard I had previously. Love the lights and the overall look.
Cons: Not a single con I can think of. This pretty much has everything a keyboard should have.

2+ Years, Works Great!
Pros: I love this. I've had the Eclipse II for 2 years now without a problem.
I don't need to wake up the family turning on the lights for remote support at 3am anymore.
Cons: If the illumination was brighter it would nice.

Pros: Good illumination, very light weight for a keyboard, one of the few backlit keyboards that are red, worked very well for some time, really good design.
Cons: Keys are paint on clear plastic instead of opaque and clear plastic, so you can wear through with heavy use and make the keys illegible, four screws on the corner aren't held in very well, randomly died after approximately six months.
Other Thoughts: Used clear fingernail polish to preserve the paint on the keys for longer and could have simply repainted them to keep them going, but got lazy. Keyboard might have died from either mistreatment (I'm not nice to my possessions) or a small surge that hit my computer at the time, loved this keyboard and will order another when I have the coin.
The four screws on the corner are primarily used for looks, there are about six screws on the back that are the real ones that hold the keyboard together.

Best Buy (not the store)
Pros: very aggressive shape, eXtreme (RED) color scheme, can change light intensity and even turn it off
Cons: gets a little noisy when typing fast, but not as much as my old keyboard, wrist rest should be a bigger in the middle part
Other Thoughts: was on discount (it is on discount again)

cheap and flimsy.
Pros: It looks nice. Keys are highly visible under any lighting conditions. Nice and slim. I really dont like those huge "ergonomic" or "multimedia" keyboards with extra keys and other junk that just takes up space on your desk/lap.
Cons: The thing started to fall apart after just about 3 weeks. There are 4 screws holding the thing together. I have one left. It still works without problems, but I doubt it will when that last screw pops out. No way to pop the screws back in. Fastest I have ever seen a keyboard fall apart.
Other Thoughts: When I did tech support for a certain publisher of a certain flight simulator, nearly everyone I spoke with swore by Saitek products for the best bang/buck. I always thought flight sim fans were a little crazy... I would recommend something a bit sturdier.
