Pros: Large, bright, LCD display. No dead pixels on arrival. Menu is fairly easy to traverse and auto-adjust worked fine.

Cons: Built-in speakers aren't the best, but you can rarely really expect built-in speakers to pack much of a punch.

Pros: Very large viewable area. Very bright (see cons). Nice color, automatically fits the image to the screen on most graphics cards. Tilts.

Cons: Can be too bright if you don't adjust the brightness and gamma. Mine has one funny pixel. Sometimes when that area has a color besides white, one pixel shows up bright green. But not over my black desktop? weird. Only tilts so far.

Other Thoughts: I have used two of these, one for myself and one for my girlfriend. Hers had no pixel problems, mine only has one shot pixel. Not bad for $200. Speakers are all but useless.

Pros: Installed in a clients office, she loved it. Big, bright & clear. Highly recommended.

Cons: When I asked my customer if there was anything bad she could say about the monitor, she thought for a second & said:

1 - It's not a 72" DLP Monitor

2 - She can't plug her Ipod into it

3 - Now all of her employees want one

4 - She has to come to work to bask in its beauty

Pros: use to have a 17 crt monitor and upgrading to a 20" really makes a difference. No dead pixels, TILTS, very bright and surprisingly it has a very good viewing angle. good enough screen resolution and has D-Sub, DVI-D connections. uses less energy compared to the crt monitor =D.

Cons: not as bright as my crt monitor but that was expected.

Other Thoughts: now I just need 2 more and some wall mounts. Also newegg shipping was amazinly fast got the cheapest shipping possible and arrived the next day

Pros: really sleek. it also has five "auto-set options" that you can select to really, really quickly adjust the brightness and contrast ratios (one for text, one for standard, one for graphics (gaming)). I use those three a whole ton, and seriously i'd pay another $50 to any other monitor just to have those fast adjusting buttons. best monitor i've ever used.

Cons: a little slow to turn on (takes about a second and a half). not a big deal, but not as fast as other monitors. i find no problem with the stand.

Other Thoughts: haven't tried the built in speakers. acer rocks, newegg rocks.

Pros: The main reason I bought this is because it's a 20 inch monitor with not-so-small pixel (rated 0.292mm). Color looks okay (I'm not an expert). And it seems don't generate serious ghosting when gaming. But I'm not a hardcore gamer anyway.

Cons: The characters looks weird if clear-type is turned on. To be more precisely, it looks like having some red/yellow margins. The viewing angle is not that good either.

Other Thoughts: Turn off clear-type.

Pros: My family is not crazy about wide screen monitors and this one fit the bill wonderfully. I compare it to my Samsung 204b and it's almost as good. Not bad, considering the Samsung is almost a third again more expensive. Bright vibrant colors, no dead pixels, a real improvement over the 19" widescreen LCD we had been using. No ghosting, very happy with this purchase.

Cons: For the price, no complaints.

Cons: Not as crisp/sharp as I had hoped it would be, based on the reviews here. This is a 'value line' monitor, and it shows.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this LCD monitor to replace a LCD monitor with a failing backlight. My previous monitor had more crisp/sharp text than this monitor. I'll keep this monitor as a backup, since it would be a hassle to return it - but I'm disappointed. I'm going to try to fix my old monitor.

Pros: I replaced my 17" Crt, and Wow what a difference. I just bought my second one I liked the first so much. Both straight out of the box and worked perfectly. I can really see these things.

Cons: It would be nice if the speakers were better, but I use externals anyway.

Other Thoughts: Don't know how Newegg does it, you order, it normally arrives at my location 2-3 days tops. Other retailers should follow there lead.

Pros: I moved up from an Acer 17" to this Acer 20". (Except for the stand) it is without a flaw and presents a beautiful image. No dead or stuck pixels, uniform illumination, sharp image with either VGA or DVI cables. The best thing about Acer LCD's is that they are very sharp even at non-native resolutions. For my eyes, I run this at 1152 x 864 and love it. Most monitors degrade at non-native resolution, not Acer.

Cons: This beautiful monitor should not be on the flimsy stand that provides very limited position flexibility. See solution below. (As everyone notes, just ignore the speakers.)

Other Thoughts: Add an Ergotron Neo-Flex LCD stand (about $40 but NewEgg doesn't carry this stand) and you have perfection.

Pros: Perfect LCD at a great price! Flawless performance since day 1. No Drop Pixel no noise crystal clear. This monitor also comes with lots of extras you get a VGA and a DVI cable and you get S-Video cable and a nice little adapter to go from composite to S-Vid and another to from S-Vid to Composite. The cables they provide alone are worth alot if you had to buy them all seperate.

I own a pair of these and use them on a dual monitor setup on my AMD 6000+ gaming rig they are attached to a pair of Sapphire X1950GT video cards linked via crossfire. It is like a wall of pixels in front of me and I love it.

Cons: I personally have seen no cons. I hear the audio that comes with these is bad but I have a 5.1 surround sound system so I have never used the speakers on these monitors.

Other Thoughts: Always remember to turn OFF LCD monitors when they are not in use. If you leave LCD monitors on 24/7 with a screen saver running you risk burning out your display or the backlight very quickly. LCD monitors are still kind of shaky if your hard on them they die these ones take a good beating but better safe than sorry.

Pros: Great 1400 x 1050 full HD resolution! Quite impressed when I hooked it up. No dead pixles, super quick refresh rate and even looks good. Also comes with both VGA and DVI cables. That was a pleasant suprise.

Pros: A bang for the buck. The price for me for top rate. 800:1 contrast, 5ms response, 20" 1400 X 1050. Clear bright picture with no Ghosting. Plays Doom 3, AOE3, Halflife 2 without any issues. Great for design work as well. I bought my first one about 3 months ago and liked it so much that I had to replace my 2nd 19" CRT with one.

Cons: I've heard the speakers aren't the best, but I've never used them per I have a 5.1 Surround system in place that works just fine.

Other Thoughts: The free 3 day shipping was a bonus. Oh, and NO DEAD PIXELS!!

Rating + 5 Nice big & bright LCD for Mac/PC


Pros: Nice big LCD - I have it pushed back almost a foot from where the old CRT monitor sat. It has brightness presets that you can easily switch between. You need that because it can be too bright for text/web reading sometimes, but you want it that bright for games. Great for games and great in Mac OS X.
Very good specs for its price range, DVI and VGA input with both cables included. I have not seen any ghosting in games, but some have tearing because of the 60Hz refresh rate at high-res.
3 year warranty from acer, register on their website with your serial number.
No dead pixels that I can see.

Cons: Few. The stand is not very sturdy-feeling, but the monitor is pretty light. But it does wobble some if I bump the desk.
Somehow I have less available resolution options in Windows XP than in Mac OS. Funny that a "PC" monitor works better when used by the Mac system software.
I have seen a couple of glitches in the display when playing GTA San Andreas, but they were brief and very rare.
Just noticed 2 stuck pixels while writing this long review, and rubbed them to life easily. That was cool.

Other Thoughts: Acer's 3 year warranty on this says it's only valid if purchased from an "Acer-authorized reseller" and Newegg mentions no warranty. However, Acer's website has a "where to buy an Acer" page that lists Newegg.com as the 3rd choice of a long list. I was able to register my LCD with Acer (with the serial # from the back) with no problems, and it gave me a warranty valid end date in 2010.

Resolutions I have tried:
1440x1050@60Hz, 1344x1008@60Hz, 1280x1024@60Hz, 1280x960@75Hz, 1024x768@75Hz, etc (Mac OS)
Windows has most of those, a couple different but a few less (?) Games are very nice at 1280x1024 except that the refresh rate drops to 60Hz at that resolution and higher.
I would definately recommend this monitor. I was looking at 19" LCDs in the price range around 20 bucks less than this, but I'm glad I spent a little more to get the 20"

Pros: Excellent image quality. I'm running a pair of these monitors in a dualview setup replacing a pair of 20" CRTs and I'm very pleased.

I do 3D CAD modeling and the image is very crisp and uniform over the entire screen.

I really wanted the 4:3 aspect monitors, I don't like widescreen for CAD work.

Cons: The stands are a bit flimsy. I didn't even bother with hooking up the speakers, don't care about them.

The supplied manuals are brief at best and there aren't any drivers or other software included. I was able to get them working well with my 3DLabs VP560 video card in Analog mode. I need work on the digital mode some more, it didn't work right away, I think I'm missing a setting.

Other Thoughts: This was my first purchase from Newegg.com and was very pleased. Subsequently I purchased an internal flash memory card reader from them and they came through just as fast, way to go newegg!!!

Rating + 5 Awesome montior, worst speakers ever.


Pros: 1. big cheap monitor, great picture/resolution.
2. Apple (Intel chip) Mini Mac didn't miss a beat when I switched to this monitor. I didn't need to adjust a thing.
3. No pixel issues that I can tell.

Cons: I'm not sure the speakers are even amplified. They were comparable to the one inside my Apple Mini Mac that I previously didn't know existed. It took me a while to figure out how to turn the speakers up (hold down ^ button on monitor for a few seconds), and then I could barely even hear them at 1' away.

Other Thoughts: Okay, the speakers are worthless, but the monitor is still awesome for the price.

Pros: I am amazed at the quality. Zero dead pixels, high resolution 1400 X 1050. Clear sharp text, Great for watching DVDs with my wife while the kids take over the TV. Would have been satisfied at twice the price.

Cons: Someday a 42" will be this inexpensive but not today.

Pros: This thing is big and I mean that in a good way. Also Widescreens are highly over rated in my opinion. No dead pixels whatsoever. Newegg shipping is the best online hands down. Simply put nobody will get you your stuff faster and you can take that to the bank.

Cons: Cruddy stand and is it just me or should speakers on LCD's be phased out immediately? Lose the speakers and possibly spend the savings on a better stand..

Other Thoughts: I took the advice of several other reviewers and bought an Ergotron Neoflex stand for this monitor. It Rocks.. With the addition of a new stand this monitor directly competes with most 2-3 times it's price.

Pros: Great view, great size 4:3 ratio.
I have an Acer std 19" LCD and a 22" wide view LCD. ( I personally don't like the wide view unless I would ever want to watch a movie, however My Wife loves the 22”)
I have had no bad pixels or any shine thru from any of the 4 sides on either of my monitors. I can only say I have been exceptionally happy with all of them and I am not easily pleased.

Cons: Nota, None, Nothing

Other Thoughts: For computer photo, surfing, and normal viewing of programs, this is an outstanding Monitor. I do not use the sound, so I cannot comment, also I do not watch Movies on a Monitor and I am not a Gamer. I use the big TV for Movies.

Pros: Big screen, works great. Plenty of menu options.

Cons: There is a barely visible line on certain textures and colors that looks like dead pixels. It can be seen 1/4 into the screen from the left. I have rarely noticed it, but it is there. No other dead or stuck pixels though! These are the risks you take when you purchase any LCD.

Other Thoughts: The stand feels kind of flimsy, but I wont be sitting on top of the monitor, thus it isn't a problem.

Rating + 4 very nice for the price


Pros: Bought this for my wife's system, and she LOVES it. I have spent the usual amount of time that you spend when building a Vista system for someone else, and my eyes never get tired of this monitor. It has quite a bit of real estate, so multiple windows open are easier to click to, and view at readable sizes.

Cons: If you like glossy screens, this one doesn't have it. I don't like glossy so this isn't a problem for me. There's no height adj or swivel. Not surprising at this price. use your savings to buy a ream of paper and get over it.

Other Thoughts: For the price this is a very nice monitor. If this is the top end of your budget, you will be pleasantly satisfied. If you need a top end graphics monitor, this ain't it, but it ain't bad either.

Pros: Monitor is huge bigger then I thought it would be. Great color runs on native resolution. No dead pixels no back light bleeding like i've heard. Does not making any noises on start up. GREAT BUY!!

Other Thoughts: This is def. one of the best monitors I ever had. I did alot of research on a the internet for the best deal I even went to some stores and this has to be the best price out right now especially for its size. you should def. buy it if your looking for something big and it won't kill your pockets. :)

Pros: Crisp and clean graphics, no ghosting, no dead pixels. Easy to set up. A 20" 4:3 screen is a big change from a 19" 4:3 screen and work the extra couple of $$ to upgrade. This is a great deal for at 20" lcd of this quality. As always! super fast shipping from Newegg!

Cons: no tilt/height adjustments but that's to be expected buying an item at this pricepoint.

Other Thoughts: Weak speakers! Not really an issue for me since I bought this for the graphics and not the audio.

Rating + 5 Beautiful Bargain


Pros: Beautiful product from Acer. Couldn't be easier to set up. All cables came with it in a nicely packed shipping box. Hooked up DVI cable and power cable. Turned on power, booted and voila -- big, beautiful color and brigh, sharp screen. Did I mention Big?

On screen display controls couldn't be better.

Cons: Didn't come with free computer.

Other Thoughts: New Egg does it again. Great price for a great monitor. Love the 4:3 screen resolution. Much more screen real estate than widescreen format.

If you're thinking 19" monitor, think again. This 20" is a steal. A couple of years ago, it would have been 600 clams or so for a monitor like this.

Stop scratching your head and just buy it. Thank me.

Rating + 5 Take Your SXGA and Plus-It!


Pros: Want better than your everyday 19-inch? Check this. Aspect ratio 4:3 is back and looking fashionably better than clunky 1280x1024 (5:4) b/c its slightly more rectangular. You get 1.5 mega pixels instead of only 1.2 mp. Sharp, bright, fast, good gray-scaling and lightweight. Excellent gamming. Works great w/ XP at native resolution.

Cons: The stand is a joke. Monitor actually faces downward about 5 degrees. I wedged a notepad under the front of the foot so I can look it straight in the eye. Buy an Ergotron Neo-Flex VESA stand. Also 60Hz is max, but no flicker despite its 5msec speed. Viewing angle is pretty typical.

Other Thoughts: If I had 1600x12000 pixels to light-up I'd probably be needing dual SLI 8800's to keep from lagging on my favorite FPS (DOD). I'm running a single 8600GTS w/o lag or tearing.

Rating + 5 ACER AL2017Abmd 20" LCD Monitor


Pros: This is one of the best values on
the market. For those of you who are ready to jump to an LCD, and get rid of that space hogging, hot CRT, this is the way to go! I had a 19" ACER which was a victim of Katrina.
Out of the box, plug it in, and it does it's job with no missing pixels!

Cons: None at this time. (about 1 month).

Other Thoughts: For the Newegg listed price, I don't think there is a better LCD monitor out there!

Pros: Big workspace, bright, very smooth rendering for casual gaming. Not one dead pixel. Immense improvement over my old P-oh-S 17" CRT monitor. Everything looks beautiful. Multiple autoadjustments are nice: movies, standard, graphics, text, user. I haven't noticed any bleeding.

Cons: doesn't give me a cookie when I ask, even when I say "please"

Other Thoughts: Speakers aren't exactly stellar, but I didn't buy it for that. The lack of tilt adjustments does not bother me. Very fun for games. Light weight is a plus for me; I move my whole setup for LANs sometimes.

Pros: Brightness, Contrast, Response and Quality are simply amazing. All the cables you need are included. Gaming is superb and crystal clear.

Cons: None, unless you are buying this to use the speakers. The speakers in my opinion are worthless, but I really don't use anything less than 2.1 audio. For basic Internet sounds and the occasional video clip I think the speakers would serve their purpose.

Other Thoughts: A huge upgrade from a 17" CRT. I use a 19" Hanns-G wide screen at work and this monitor as a lot more work area available. In my opinion, wide screen is way over rated. I would recommend getting two because everyone seems to migrate to my computer when there are 2 other perfectly capable ones available.

Pros: Clear, bright, decent viewing and response. No pop pixel(s) as I bought this unit for my cousin who has an analog IGP system. He and the family are very happy with it. Kids were amazed at the smooth clear video playback of DVDs.

Cons: Some color distortion (BL Bleed) and black text is not quite as crisp as a CRT. No height adjustment. Minor issues.

Other Thoughts: All the monitors I have bought for others and self within this price range, ACER give the best bang for the bucks.

Pros: Very inexpensive for this level of quality. Fast response time. No dead pixels! Comes with a DVI cable. Well packaged. VESA compliant for aftermarket stands/wallmounts.

Cons: Nothing to complain about at this price point.

Other Thoughts: If your in the market for a 20" LCD do yourself a favor and give this one a try. You'll thank me and your wallet will thank me.

Pros: - BIG!
- Contrast, Brightness, Colors
- Menu options
- Pretty good viewing angle (for a TN panel)
- NO dead pixels
- Ease of installation
- DVI cable included
- Easy on the wallet

Cons: - Some backlight bleed, but not terrible
- Tiny speakers, but who needs 'em?

Other Thoughts: With the addition of an Ergotron Neo-Flex VESA stand, this already-great monitor rocks! It's now at the perfect height, and the added tilt lets me position it perfectly. This is the second one of these babies in our household, both of which have no dead pixels. The backlight bleed is somewhat noticeable (on both), but it's not that big an issue for us. Everyone I've talked to said they've had great luck with Acer -- I've always bought Sony (this replaces a 19-inch Sony CRT), but this deal was too good to pass up. All in all, a great value in monitors.

Pros: Large viewing area. Bright. Runs in 1400x1050 resolution. Sturdy shipping carton and packed well. No dead pixels.

Cons: Monitor does not adjust either vertically nor horizontally. I would have liked the idea of adjusting it vertically, at least. This is the only "con" I have. For this reason, I gave it a four rating.

Other Thoughts: Even though I would have liked to have the ability to tilt the monitor, it's still a great buy!.

Pros: Very nice monitor for the money. Great size! Seems to look very nice. Ordered the monitor Sunday night and was at my door Tuesday morning.

Pros: No dead pixels, usual great Newegg turn around time. Beautiful screen. 1400x1050 Gives huge amount of work area. So far has been great for work and gaming.

Cons: Stand, speakers, but I didn't buy this for either of them.

Other Thoughts: This is my first personal flat screen purchase and I am loving it. Great improvement over my old Sony Trinitron 17" HMD-A200 CRT.

We have been using the Acer 17" AL1716 in our student computer labs at work and I have 2 of them on my work desk and they are very similar (except smaller). A co-worker bought the AL2017 and fell in love with it and so did I.

I am most definitely buying another so I can rid myself of the Sony.

Pros: Massive screen, Excellent response, awe-inspiring contrast, no shadowing, ultra-high resolution, crisp and clear image, bang for the buck.

Cons: Doesn't tilt side to side or vertical, speakers are tinny. Neither of which are a big deal but you kind of have to grasp at straws here to find the bad stuff.

Other Thoughts: This screen is big, forget the widescreen monitors this is the way to go it's truely amazing to look at. I've searched high and low and this is truely the best value out there for a monitor, ACER is a wonderful brand. I bought this just looking for a value, not for performance, little did I know I was going to get both! No dead pixels or lines at all, buy this and I guarantee you will not ever regret it.

Pros: It was the lowest price per inch on pretty much ANY brand, no name or top tier.
Zero dead pixels and I don't get the hi-pitched hum like some people complained about.Perhaps they got duds.

Cons: Brightness and contrast ratio's on this are lower than my 17" Planar, but the Planar cost almost twice as much.
Built in speakers SUCK but since I didn't even know this model came with audio,I don't care.

Other Thoughts: Very good buy as this model includes both VGA AND DVI cables, most just give you a VGA leaving you to spend extra money for the other connector cable.

Pros: Big, no dead pixels, works great with games like BF2, Oblivion, HL2, etc.

Cons: The base seems flimsy but it works, plugging in the DVI cable was a little tricky but no big deal.

Other Thoughts: I'm using it with an EVGA 7600GS and it plays most games at 1400 x 1050 just fine. You can tilt it back. I haven't needed to adjust any of the settings and it looks great coming from a Viewsonic 19" LCD.

Pros: Just plug it in and it works!

I love the screen real estate. It is better than 17" and 19" and I have used both from ACER and other brands. 17" and 19" were OK also but with 1400 x 1050 all I can say is WOW.

Very Fast!

Very bright, had to turn down brightness and contrast - how cool is that !

New e button allows special settings already setup or User
setup.

speakers are good enough for work
purposes, but I was suprised when
I tested playing some music.

Buy this!

Cons: Can't tilt or adjust hight, but it was not one of the things I am concerned about.

Cons: I hear the speakers aren't that great, but who cares? That's what my Logitech 5.1 X450 is for.

Cons: Unless you run at native resolution, text may appear somewhat blurry.

Other Thoughts: Playing some games can cause motion sickness because of the perspective. If you are use to a 19 inch monitor, you may want to move this one back.
