Rating + 4 Wow Acer

Pros: This is a jump from my 19 Dell Ultrasharp and simply amazing in size. Great clarify and bright, easy to use navigation menu and lots of connection options. All the cords included and quick to setup. Had this up and running in about 10 min from box to working.

Cons: some weird issues when trying to use as extended desktop with my T61 laptop that it would not fill screen when used as 2nd monitor, had 2 in black strips down each side. Tried the refresh rate settings and other ideas. Did not get a chance to load Win7 64bit drivers so not sure if this would resolve it or not. But @24 in I am really using it as my 1 main external monitor and in this mode it works perfectly full screen with VGA connection.

Other Thoughts: for $200 (not purchased from newegg) it is a good deal into 24in size.

Pros: This thing looks amazing ! Had no dead pixels and everything worked perfectly out of the box. For all of you complaining about the speakers grow up you don't use a monitor for sound its for visual so buy yourself a surround and stop giving bad ratings for something that is truly an amazing product.
running it at 1920x1080 and could not be happier

Cons: This collects and shows the dust along the glossy edges every day even if i wipe it all the time.

Pros: It was awesome when it worked. Used Very little power and it was big...

Cons: ... the backlight went out after a week of use. I contacted Acer and sent it in for repairs. Upon receiving the monitor back I was surprised that; 1) They took the box I sent it in (the original packing), 2) They took all the cords, 3) They blamed me for the damage, 4) The screen is now cracked. Upon trying to contact them again.... well it's one way, I've been ignored. I didn't even mind the dead pixel.

Other Thoughts: Acer's customer support 0/5. I would have been better off trying to fix it myself. The monitor itself would be a 5/5... you know, if it kept working like it did the first week. This is by far the largest waste of money I've ever spent on anything computer related.

Rating + 4 Almost Perfect....

Pros: Beautiful screen, fantastic design, very very sharp picture. I got one of these when it was on sale for $200 with free shipping. Got it in the mail and instantly wanted another. I just got 2 more on "and online auction site that rhymes with schmeebay" for less than $300, STEAL.

Cons: Came with one dead pixel, and more obnoxiously, theres a black strip that appeared after a couple months in the upper-right hand corner of the screen. Its about 1.5" long and .25" wide. Its not the pixels cause it moves when you do. If I were to guess I would say its some strip of rubber of something that fell in front of the backlight. At any rate, its really annoying, but it thankfully confined to the corner of the screen where its not too much of a bother. My biggest problem is that I have to poay shipping (probably $20) to ship it to Acer to have them fix it. I havent decided whether to or not. Its kind of unfortunate that they make YOU pay shipping within warranty for THEIR faulty product.

The other dumb thing are their "touchscreen" buttons that are impossible to get to work smoothly. Thankfully, you almost never use these besides initial setup, but its still stupid. Put regular push buttons on your screen if you can get advanced tech to work well, its annoying.

Other Thoughts: This is my 6th Acer screen I've owned over the years. All have been very nice without issue. I had one other that had a string of vertical pixels that failed after about 2 1/2 years that Acer fixed (after I paid to ship it obviously). My brother now owns that particular screen and it hasnt had issue since. Almost perfect Acer, ALMOST. Just fix having your customers pay shipping for your mistakes, thats all.

Rating + 5 Great

Pros: Great monitor in respect of the display quality.

No problem pixels at least so far after the first month.

Excellent picture quality for text, movies and games.

A lot of connections.

Cons: Menu buttons are a problem and speakers are good for nothing. But most menu settings you can do with a software - create profiles. Since the speakers are useless you might not press vol +- too often anyway or use the volume switch of your soundcard.

Other Thoughts: It has glossy screen. I love it but check that you do not have a window or lights in the back of you.

In respect of games do not overlook the power of your graphic card. It might not be enough for the high resolution. But you can use lower resolution without problems.

Rating + 5 Awesome for games!

Pros: Bought this monitor to go along with my purpose built gaming PC. This monitor is absolutely awesome for video games. With HDMI and built in speakers it can do double duty for either Xbox 360 or PS3. I play A LOT of Modern Warfare 2 on my PC and it looks MUCH better than it ever did on my Xbox 360. ZERO ghosting, ZERO input lag. You flick the mouse and it moves right along with you guaranteed. Same can be said with Need for Speed Shift and that game is all forms of fast.

Acer didnt' cheap out like other companies. You get ALL the cables needed, HDMI, VGA, DVI, and even an audio cable for your sound card.

The stand tilts and there are holes on the back to accommodate different kinds of mounting options.

It's pretty to look at.

Cons: The pressure sensitive buttons I could have done without. Whenever I use them I almost feel relieved that they are working. But they do work I promise you. They are just a little off putting.

The glossy finish might get dirty or covered in fingerprints rather easily.

Other Thoughts: Because of the technology the panel is based on there is SOME ( I stress SOME) color banding going on but nothing that will make you regret the purchase for gaming unless you are a complete videophile.
Don't buy this monitor if you are putting a higher priority on the picture quality than input lag and response times.
I didn't put this in the con section because it wouldn't be fair considering the type of panel this is.

Newegg doesn't give me an option for fractional eggs so I rounded up to give it a 5.

Rating + 5 Great Monitor!

Pros: This 24" Acer Monitor is awesome! The colors are bright and vivid, and there are no dead pixels. Also, it allows for DVI, VGA, and HDMI connection and comes with all these cables.

Cons: The menu buttons are hard to press/respond.

Other Thoughts: I haven't heard the speakers so I can't comment on those. This is my first Widescreen monitor, but I love the resolution. Fast Newegg Shipping :)

Rating + 5 Brilliant, Gorgeous, Enormous Display

Pros: Incredibly beautiful display. Brightness and contrast are wonderful and I can't find an angle where it isn't viewable. Absolutely huge amount of screen real estate, great for multi-tasking and especially satisfying for video or graphics applications.

Cons: 1 dead pixel, though it is rarely noticeable and generally not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this display to anyone with high-resolution needs for multi-tasking, graphics, video, or for anyone who simply wants to be the envy of all their tech-savvy friends.

Pros: Beautiful screen
Sturdy stand

Cons: Touch buttons are pretty iffy, makes changing settings a pain, physical buttons would be MUCH better.

Speaker quality is meh, but I disabled it anyway.

Other Thoughts: Overall a fantastic product, games look great and so do movies. Definitely buy some external speakers with this, the built in ones are pretty bad.

Four stars for the touch buttons.

Rating + 5 Still going strong.

Pros: I bought this in July during an egg-special for $200, it's January now and it's still going strong. 1080p resolution, 2ms response time, 40,000:1 contrast ratio. Comes with all the cables you need and some you don't. Using the dvi cable, and everything is so crisp. Nice upgrade from a 16in CRT. Great for gaming, photoshop, maya, etc.

Cons: Speakers are terrible? See below.

Other Thoughts: I still give this 5 eggs because I wasn't planning on using the speakers anyway. I did test them out, I can't hear a thing even on max settings. Again, I don't care for them. I might buy another one if I build my new pc.

Rating + 5 Basically a TV!

Pros: I like how you can use HDMI input and use this like a TV or a console screen. Then just hit the input button and go back to using your PC. Also, this has an option for automatic aspect ratio control. I just set it to "Aspect" instead of "Full" to let it give me black borders for narrower resolutions.

Cons: When I turn it on, it flashes ACER across the screen before giving me the picture I want.

Other Thoughts: I went monitor shopping with only the goal of finding one that can automatically switch between resolutions. It turns out that while I did, also this is basically the best monitor I've ever owned.

Rating + 5 I Love This Monitor!

Pros: No Dead/Stuck pixels
Beautiful, bright picture
Great value when I purchased it from newegg

Cons: HDMI sound through the speakers is very quiet, and there is no way to shut it off or turn it up or down
HDMI port is located in an odd place, kinda jammed next to the DVI port

Other Thoughts: Pretty sure you aren't buying this for the speakers. If you are, look elsewhere unless you live where there is no noise whatsoever.

There are times the screen is so large sitting up close, you may actually have to slightly turn your head to see something.

Pros: This was a nice upgrade from my Viewsonic 22" monitor I bought 2 years ago. The colors are more vibrant and you don't have to be sitting perfectly in front of the monitor to see it correctly.

HDMI, DVI and the old vga analog hookups are nice. I have another computer hooked upto the 24" acer that all I need to do is slide my finger over the input button and it pops over to that pc.

Over all its a great monitor to have. 5 eggs.

Cons: It wasn't free :)

Rating + 5 Why ACER Rocks

Pros: My Mom just got this Acer (the bigger brother of the H233Hbmid that I've had for a while) and, like the H233H, it fits in nicely. It supports the same three separate inputs (DVI-D, D-sub, and HDMI), includes built-in stereo speakers, and supports the same 1920x1080 resolution as the H233H (it even includes the same stand) and, like the H233H, it is based on a TN panel. No stuck pixels here, either.

Cons: Still no cons.

Other Thoughts: Very few three-input monitors (from anybody) include all the cables; however, every ACER bmid monitor does. Also, because the inputs are completely separate, you don't need a KVM switch to connect two computers as long as you have a separate keyboard and mouse (I had a second computer I was working on connected to the D-sub input while my main computer was connected to the DVI input). Throw in the bargain pricing and utter lack of dead or stuck pixelsa and Acer remains my choice for good monitors at a bargain price (for both 23" and now 24").

Pros: Fantastic look.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: I have a 22 inch Acer monitor and this 24 inch. The 24 looks so great that it makes the 22 inch look weak. Now I want to buy another 24 inch to balance the look out. I sometimes think I have more money than brains!

Rating + 4 A great value

Pros: - Large amount of screen real estate, obviously
- All the video inputs you'll need
- Very good color quality
- Very even back-lighting
- Setup could not have been much simpler

Cons: - Base tilt range is pretty limited
- Plastic bezel near controls/buttons felt a bit cheap
- Must be precise and deliberate when pressing touch-sensitive control buttons

Other Thoughts: The cons of this monitor are not that biggest cons I've ever experienced. Not enough to lower this to a 3 egg review, since I did my research beforehand, knew what I would be getting, and the price was right. This does fall well short of a 5 egg review, though. 5 eggs should be reserved for products which far exceed expectation, and these only met my expectations - a solid 4 eggs. Nothing wrong with that.

Pros: *******************
Corei7, GTX285 SLI, 1.5 TB RAID-1, WD raptor 300GB, Thermaltake Element S, Acer H243H
*******************
Please see my initial review (10/9/2009 7:30:29 PM). The monitor STILL ROCKS ! I really love the bright colors and no dead pixels at all. Have been gaming Modern Warfare 2, Wolfenstein 3D, Farcry 2, Crysis & Crysis warhead, ... No lag, no ghosting ! It is absolutely phenomenal. I would buy more of these in a heart beat if needed.

Cons: The only cons I found out was that if you plan to use the nvidia 3D vision, these LCDs wont work as they are 60 hz. You need a 120HZ screen for those. I am not sure how good the 3D Vision is... but there are only 2 such monitors out there... SO Not a cons for me though.

Other Thoughts: *******************
Corei7, GTX285 SLI, 1.5 TB RAID-1, WD raptor 300GB, Thermaltake Element S, Acer H243H

Rating + 2 Excellent when it worked! Repair problems.

Pros: No dead pixels.
Great picture.
No problems at all running any game.
No ghosting.

Cons: Problems after having it for 7 months. Was working fine then after a computer restart screen was very dark, couldn't make anything out.

Other Thoughts: I sent it in for repair. Upon receiving it back from the repair facility I checked the parts that were replaced and noticed that they used parts from a lower end model. They replaced the powerboard and the lcd screen. My monitor had an lcd with 40,000:1 contrast with 2ms response. The replaced screen has 1,000:1 contrast with 5ms response. The replacement screen also has about 10-15 stuck/dead pixels. (My original had ZERO pixel problems.) Also the powerboard that was replaced was for the model with speakers. My monitor did not have speakers.

I am extremely upset over this so called "repair". I am definitely calling Acer to get this resolved. I expect the same quality/specs parts as what were in my original monitor. Acer should also pay for me to ship it back to them the second time as they did a poor job the first time.

I will change my egg rating depending on what happens.

Rating + 5 Couldn't be happier

Pros: I bought this as an upgrade from a 22" Samsung I had purchased a few weeks earlier and found someone who was looking for the monitor I had...so I sold the Samsung and bought the Acer on a recommendation from a friend. WOW! Either the Acer is that good or the Samsung was just not that great, but this thing is better than I expected. Great contrast, rich, accurate color representation.

Cons: Haven't found one yet. Maybe just the glossy black finish fingerprints easily...but it also cleans easily.

Other Thoughts: I'm getting ready to buy a second to expand my desktop.

Rating + 5 Extremely satisfied

Pros: Having been in the graphics industry professionally for 20 years and also having worked with computers since about 1980, I'd like to say this is probably one of the best deals out there today for such a high quality monitor. I am extremely satisfied with the overall quality and value and would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a 24" HD monitor without breaking the bank.

Cons: I can't find anything wrong. The issues with the stand that some people have can easily be overcome with a little common sense and ingenuity if necessary. For 99% of the world the stand is not even a issue.

Other Thoughts: I would be happy using this monitor with every computer in my house and office.

Pros: Bought this on a 199 w/ free shipping deal, so the price was right. Nice clean, bright picture, decent contrast etc...

Cons: Intermittent screen flickering. It's a constant wavy flicker, but only on random days. Has a high number of dead pixels, probably 5-8, but i havent even counted them, because this doesnt really bother me much.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a cheap media monitor, and that is what i expected and received. Great product, could never expect more for the money in july 09.

Rating + 5 Awesome displays

Pros: I bought 2 of these monitors. When I first purchases, I was weary about the 16:9 aspect ratio being too wide for 2 monitors. I was looking into a couple other 16:10 options, and chose to go with these instead. I am not disappointed. These are the nicest monitors of all that I've seen in person. I have USB audio through separate speakers, so I'm not bothered by the audio complaints by others -- I never even unrwapped the wires. But I will tell you, having bought these, I'd be nervouse to buy 16:10's -- this resolution and size is PERFECT for me. I game heavily with fast paced, high frame rate games. There is no motion blur or trailing -- these things are fast and BEAUTIFUL.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I really wouldn't buy 3 -- not because I don't like them, but because the side-by-side configuration would cause my kneck too much pain. I already have to twist my neck to see the far ends of the 2 I already have. :D

Pros: Absolutely gorgeous screen producing most vivid picture I've ever seen when compared to other monitors I bought. And with the 2ms response time, fast-moving images from games or video are seamless. For around $200, this monitor is a genuinely rare catch to find.

Cons: The built-in speakers are very tinny and distorted, but what can you expect? The touchscreen keys are nowhere near accurate, taking at least 3 seconds to response from a touch.

Rating + 1 Looks Beautiful! (When it was working)

Pros: This is an awesome screen. Bright, clear and did not come with one dead pixel!

Cons: The touch sensitive buttons! about 8 months into my ownership, the monitor volume bar popped up without me touching the buttons. This seems to happen after being powered on for a couple mins. This volume bar doesn't go away, and there doesn't seem to be a way to open up the casing. It's possible it could be moisture build-up or faulty design. The acer website was absolutely useless.

Other Thoughts: I would say I lose 2 to 3 inches off the bottom and right sides of my screen. I play WoW and customized my UI around the volume menu LOL, but for other apps, its annoying as hell! The only reason I play on it still is because I spent a good deal of money on it and its such a beautiful screen....the working part at least. A good buy, but rating it 1 egg because of the time and money wasted on just 8 months of good use.

It's 2ms Response time. HDMI Port. 4000:1 Contrast Ratio. And 1920 x 1080 native resolution.

Everything i was looking for in a monitor and it is right here!

Cons: Speakers aren't that great. but i don't care.

Pros: Great color, great price, and the speaker is actually quite nice. The speaker is on the bad upward, so it saves spaces. The fact that it is from the back is prabably why it sounds better too. Kind of using your wall as half-woofer LOL.

Cons: You can't press setup buttons when there is no image input. The touch sensitive button is a bit to get used to.

Other Thoughts: If you want to use speaker, use the following setup, VGA+audio, DVI+audio, pure HDMI. For gamming setup, since 3D graphics card doesn't do audio, you better use DVI+audio.

Rating + 2 Backlight failed after 1 month

Pros: It had a beautiful display when it worked. I like the idea of the touch sensitive buttons, but they seem to work a little slow and sometimes have to push on them a couple times to get them to work.

Cons: I feel a little bad having to give this monitor a negative review after seeing all the good reviews, but the backlight went out after only a month. I realize this is probably bound to happen with any monitor. Since it was just past a month, I had to contact Acer. I explained to Acer support that I had exhausted all the troubleshooting methods and the display would still not stay on. With the required packaging, insurance and shipping it cost me $50 to ship it back to Acer. They better reimburse me. Had I expected to spend another $50, I would have bought a more reliable brand. I was nervous buying an Acer to begin with, but all the reviews looked good.

Other Thoughts: I probably was just one of the unlucky few to get a bad backlight. With this type/size of monitor being at such a good price, I would probably still buy another one if I needed another monitor.

Rating + 5 ACER H243H Rules !

Pros: Absolutely breath taking. Owned Sony GDP 19" CRT monitor for over 10 years. Moved to this monitor. Dont get me wrong, I have used a lot of LCD monitors and have looked at even Apple monitors. This one is just as good. extra crisp and sharp and beautifully fills the screen at full resolution. Please use DVI at a minimum to enjoy this monitor. Saw it in retail store and fell in love with the design and performance. No dead pixels. Crysis at 1920 X 1080 is...ummm... delicious.

Cons: None so far. Price is great too. Will review again after a month or so if there are any issues.

Other Thoughts: Thank you ACER for giving me the monitor I have been waitin got buy. I very picky when it comes to monitors.

Rating + 5 Beautiful Monitor at a Reasonable Price

Pros: Great price for what you're getting.
Plugged it in and worked right away.
Beautiful color and image display.
No dead pixels to this day.
No problems with the touch controls.
Color calibration software works great.

Cons: I only bought one.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from my old 17" standard 4:3 LCD HP monitor.

Obviously the extra space is wonderful. Right away I saw a huge difference in vivid color and detailed images. I used the color calibration software that was included which definitely made a difference compared to when I first plugged the monitor in.

The speakers are as good as any other built in speaker. Anyone who wants great sound should already know they need to buy their own speaker setup.

I do a lot of editing and creative work in Photoshop and Illustrator and this monitor has definitely made life easier and faster when it comes to that. I also watch a lot of movies and TV shows online (and via DVD) and so far everything has looked great in full screen. The only computer game I play is The Sims 3, but I can say it looks great!

All in all, this monitor is definitely a great deal and worth every penny!

Pros: Resolution is Fantastic! Sensor buttons are great! No dead pixels! Monitor came with VGA, DVI and HDMI cables! Which is a big lpus in my book on the HDMI! Thanks ACER!

Cons: I can't think of any. Really, this mintor is beautiful! This is my Second ACER monitor and I love it! Last one was a 22" widescreen (AL2216W) and this one is much better!

Other Thoughts: Maybe I'm missing something but for some reason, I hooked the Monitor up to my LG Blue Ray player and I got a very distorted picture after the Menu of the PLayer loaded, without a disk in....

Pros: This is a beautiful screen for the price!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm not going to say that lack of height adjustment is a con because this screen costs only $219. You get what you pay for, so if you want height adjustment, pay the extra money. The viewing angles are smaller than some other screens, but again, you get what you pay for. I just use the screen for work, not video games or movies, so I don't mind the smaller viewing angle.

Pros: I have two of these now, and both have been working great. Nice image display, good variety of inputs and cables.

Cons: Image over HDMI at full resolution didn't scale to the whole screen. No height adjustment on the stand. The image adjustment controls respond a little weirdly.

Other Thoughts: Suffers from basic limitations of TN LCDs, so you won't have the viewing angles of more expensive S-PVA displays. I haven't used the built-in speakers.

Rating + 3 Volume button stuck!

Pros: BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY!

Easy set up

No dead pixels

Cons: I run WoW @ 720HD but about a month ago this stupid volume display icon shows up at the bottom of my screen. The touch sensitive button on the bottom of the monitor seems to be stuck, and power cycling doesn't fix it. This essentially rendered 1/3 of my monitor useless, making me play WoW in a windowed mode. I hate how the volume display sits on top of everything on my desktop, and acer has no documentation on how to fix this.

Other Thoughts: I would buy this monitor again though...its too beautiful...i just hope that my problem is an isolated incident.

Rating + 5 Outstanding Monitor!

Pros: Very crisp picture, bright, fast response. Arrived with no dead or stuck pixels. Large screen with a high resolution, for a cheap price. You really can't complain.

The stand is quite sturdy. Also, it's VESA mounting ready, which is fantastic.

Cons: The power button LED is incredibly distracting. It's a bright white power symbol, encircled by yet another bright white ring. Not to bad during daytime use, however, during late nights, it can be quite distracting. It's nothing to dock an egg over though.

Other Thoughts: This is my second Acer monitor. I am running this monitor along with another 24inch P224W Acer monitor in a dual screen system. It's fantastic, and provides plenty of room for video editing, web browsing, and, of course, gaming.

Pros: This is a Beautiful Monitor. When I first bought this I was in the process of completing my new computer. Beautiful picture. Professional look and feel. Strong tilt control and sturdy.

Cons: I came to realize this will not dual screen with integrated, no matter the integrated card's level. Little heavy but only a complaint while moving it around.

Other Thoughts: Don't be concerned with the pixels when you first get this monitor. They tend to have some pixels warming up and will flicker for about 1-3 weeks. I've passed that time frame by a lot and after owning with for over 10 months I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Rating + 5 Mostly Incredible

Pros: Contrast is insanely good as is the general picture quality. Motion also handles without any glitches. 3d games as well as movies and even general use is just awesome on this monitor.

Cons: The plastic. It's a glossy black that attracts dust and fingerprints like none other. Also, don't plan to move this monitor around a whole lot because the stand is inflexible unless you break the plastic.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality. The design could use a little work but the functionality is near perfect. Definitely going to have to recommend this one.

Cons: I only have one complaint - the speakers are weak and not the best quality.

Pros: Specs are 1920 X 1090 or same as HD 9 X 16. This monitor will adjust to 1900 X 1200 on a digital connection but VGA modes do not recognize either this setting or the 9 X 16 format. Very fast and good color with DVI.

Cons: No adjustable stand for vairlable height. Acer eDisplay Management software does not work in my 3-monitor configuration. Primary monitor is a Gateway HD display with one Acer on a DVI connection and a second on a VGA connection.

Other Thoughts: Great monitor for the money. Don't expect symmetrical pictures with a VGA connection.

Rating + 5 I Love It!

Pros: Great price, looks awesome, no dead pixels. I have not noticed any glare even with my amBX set up. I have my PC hook up via DVI and my 360 via VGA and they both look incredible. The speakers are OK but I have only used them once.

Cons: Like everyone else has been saying, the touch buttons are kinda wonky. The most annoying is when you want to change some of the color or contrast settings and the touch buttons do the opposite of what you want them to do. If it gets annoying, you can just use the auto predefined changer which works well. I have also had slight trouble with the power button not registering for a few seconds but that's just nit picking.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was as awesome as always and got it to me in a few days with free shipping.

Cons: Only 4 eggs for 2 stuck pixels. They are both ont he edge of the screen so out of sight for the most part but still there if I look for them. I can live with it though :)

Other Thoughts: My 19" Sammy died after 16 months. Since I bought it at a retail store, the receipt faded and I cant get warranty repair. I went through Newegg this time so I can always print the invoice if needed.

Rating + 5 Very nice

Pros: Very nice widescreen monitors. I don't use the speakers, so I can't comment on them. Graphics and desktop scale nicely and color is great. Haven't seen any ghosting.

Cons: Stand is a little shaky from time to time, not a big deal. Init time at boot (or resolution change) is a little slow, but tolerable.

Other Thoughts: Monitor only goes to 60hz refresh rate at 1920x1080, but unlike a CRT you won't notice it on anything other than fast frame-rate games. For those games you will probably want to use a square resolution anyway. Monitor works great with lower resolutions, but remember if you scale a square res onto a widescreen monitor you'll get distortion. You need to use a mode that boxes it within the screen rather than trying to scale a 4:3 onto a 16:9. Do that and it'll look great.

Rating + 5 Better than I expected

Pros: I had been looking for a larger display for a while but the prices always seemed to make me balk. Bought this one when on sale for $200 shipped. Great deal indeed. Good color after calibration. Not the first hint of trouble yet. I love the touch controls. Makes input switching a breeze. I have my Mac Pro and Xbox 360 patched into this monitor and it's more than up to the task.

Cons: Nothing yet. Hopefully nothing until I decide to upgrade again

Other Thoughts: Going from a 4:3 17" Apple Studio Display, it's like doing design work on a football field. Comparing the two side-by-side this monitor is a pretty decent upgrade. It absolutely required calibration but I expect that with any monitor. A height adjustment capability would have been nice but not a necessity in my use. I pulled off the supplied support so I could use an aftermarket mount. Relatively light in weight.

Pros: -Beautiful Styling. Some don't care about how a desk looks, I do.
-Light. Maybe it was just because I came from a CRT to this, but trekking it around was a breeze.
-Darned pretty to look at.
-Awesome price for what you get.

Cons: -The ports in the back took a bit of work to get at, but fortunately the monitor is light enough (and you generally have enough play in cables) to flip it on it's screen to do the work.
-The HDMI and DVI ports are ridiculously close together. Generally you won't be using two digital signals together (since the monitor won't recognize both or swap between both when both are on), but getting the HDMI in while a DVI was plugged in was harder than it should have been.
-If you're relying on the sound from the built in speakers at all, don't. It's not a TV, but can be a makeshift one while you get a replacement.

Other Thoughts: If there was a way to plug in an HDMI feed then have it port the audio to an external source (either via regular speaker cable or similar) to say, a computer or a standalone speaker system, this monitor would be a LOT better. As-is, it is gorgeous and fills the "Computer Monitor" role very nicely while subbing for others in a pinch, obviously not as well.

Rating + 5 Excellent Monitor, Glad i got it

Pros: Very beautiful display, no bar across the middle, no ghosting, plays crysis warhead beautifully with q9550 gtx 260 at 1920 1080 at gamer settings at 35 37 fps and enthus at 27 29 fps

VESA ability makes this so useful, and the color is vibrant, the stand sucks and the speakers are useful if you're just building your first or turning it on for the first time or messing around with drivers or new cards and only need to hear if the sound WORKS

Cons: none for me. I'm happy with it, about a month after. i have mounted in front of me with matriculating arm sweet setup. BUY THIS MONITOR. THERE IS NO BAR ACROSS THE MIDDLE, NO DISCOLORATION, ALL ANGLES ARE GOOD. IT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU EXPECT IT TO BE BASED ON THE SPECS YOU'RE READING.

Rating + 4 Excellent for the (discounted) price.

Pros: I purchased this monitor during a Newegg one-day shell shocker deal, which lowered the price down to $199.99. The monitor works just fine with solid performance and quality for the price.

Cons: The settings (V/H position, brightness, etc.) doesn't seem to save, meaning I have to change settings every time the monitor wakes up from stand-by (since I don't turn monitors off after use).

Not a big issue at all, but the built-in speakers don't seem to have volume control anywhere. One would very unlikely use these speakers as his/her primary sound source, so this shouldn't really matter to anyone, but in case anyone's wondering.

Other Thoughts: Not that this mattered to me, but it'd be helpful if Newegg puts information about the panal type (such as TN, PVA, S-PVA, etc.) on the spec. page of the product. Of course, any advanced users can do a quick research on their own before the purchase, but just for convenience.

Pros: This is a great monitor for the price it has worked perfectly since I took it from the perfectly packed box. the size is nice for the price and two of the sit nicely side by side. There were no dead pixls or display problems.

Ok you have heard enough about the buttons too . . they work the monitor didn't cost an arm and a leg get over it you'l figure it out, I did so has everyone else. I didn't even try the speakers.

What can I say its bright, crisp, no flicker, and it comes on when its supposed to. You can't beat it for the price.

It will look as good on your desk as it does on mine.

Cons: not really many cons at all. The buttons? Get over it they work.

Other Thoughts: I like the trimer case from the X243w that I have. The monitors are close to equal but the edge goes to the H243H .

Cons: As many others have mentioned, the buttons on the monitor are slow to respond. As long as you're patient with it and know this going in it's not an issue at all.

Other Thoughts: Some have complained that newegg ships this in the factory packaging, without any kind of additional brown box. This is true. Mine arrived in the acer box, which was [mostly] dent and scratch free. Pros: The screen came very nicely packaged, with all the included cables you can use with the monitor. The screen came with naught dead pixels and very little bleed around the edges. It is glossy but I actually don't get glare on it in a sunny room. Hard to beleive but its true. I have it setup in the middle of two older 17" LCD's and the picture quality is night and day.

Cons: The touch sensitive buttons are weird and don't always work properly. No swivel, pivot, etc.

The speakers are so weak I can barely hear with sound cranked all the way up.

Other Thoughts: This is a great 24" monitor for the price. Don't expect an apple cinema display comparison though.

Rating + 4 Excellent, but...

Pros: HUGE! Even upgrading from a 20" Samsung, this thing is HUGE! Bright, vibrant, sharp. Preset display settings look amazing. 1920x1080 from my Xbox 360 looks spectacular, better than any 1080p HDTV I've worked with.

Cons: Touch-sensitive buttons are not so sensitive. No way to disable automatic cycling of inputs, which is annoying when you have a device which takes a while to turn its HDMI port on. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I bought this screen last week when it was the Shellshocker. I'd been eyeballing it for a long time, and I couldn't say no to $199. I use my Xbox 360 with this screen via HDMI, as well as my PC via DVI. Since the screen doesn't let you disable automatically cycling through its inputs, I have to press/touch/whatever input twice and let it cycle through its three inputs twice before the Xbox image comes up on the screen.

My first wide screen monitor, sure is a lot larger than my 19" square one.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I like it, would recommend it.
I haven't had a need to try the speakers yet.

Pros: Excellent display. Nice automatic switching between DVI and VGA. Very satisfied especially for the price.

Cons: one button is somewhat insensitive but works and is not that important.

Other Thoughts: Haven't used the HDMI input yet.

Rating + 5 Definatly Worth the Money

Pros: I bought this during the 24hr sale for 200 even, i was planning on buying at its regular price when i bought the rest of my parts for my second comp.

I hooked it up to this rig as soon as i got it, after carfully inspecting the packaging, stickers, cables, etc.

All was fine, plugged it in via DVI to DVI 8800gts gpu, screen popped up, automatically at 1920x1080. Looked great, not a single dead pixel. (even if there was you could always use spare change and kill it)

I unplugged it, covered it with its paper wrap it came with, and have it on my other desk patientlly awaiting the next computer build i will use it for. As long as it works as good as it did for the 5 hours i used it on this rig, i will be one happy customer

Cons: None at the moment.

Other Thoughts: This is my second Acer monitor, my first was a 22" similar to this. That one had one dead pixel ont he far left, i easily took care of it by using a dime and pressing softly on that pixel, and its gone now.

Pros: Great picture, Quality and easy to use.

Cons: The speakers aren't to great, but who buys a monitor with speakers. Since i don't care about the speakers i didn't rate the monitor on them.

Rating + 3 Reconsider

Pros: Large screen, sharp picture

Cons: frozen pixel. When I first got the monitor I rated it one. There was an annoying pink dot in the center, a group that turned out to be four stuck pixels. After a week of use, all but one pixel has begun top work. There is still a pink dot,l if you look for it.

Rating + 5 nice monitor

Pros: I choose this model because my office has a window behind me and I didn't want a glossy screen. Excellent size for my work environment, nice finish, sturdy and a clear bright screen. I set up at less resolution than recommended (1024x768 instead of 1920x1080) to make the fonts larger and it is perfect for me.
Very easy to set up and as usual, Newegg got it out the door FAST! It arrived less than 24 hours after ordering.

Cons: Wish the speakers faced forward but they work okay in a quiet office

Pros: Huge monitor. All cables included. Perfect for watching video.

Cons: It flickers from time to time. Maybe sensitive to movement and I'm using it on an arm.

Other Thoughts: I need to remove the stock stand. The nut for it is in a awkward position.
I am debating on buying another to run a matched pair even though the sale is over.

Rating + 5 Nice Monitor

Pros: This monitor is a great value. Quick response time, excellent picture quality. HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs.

Cons: The sound quality and maximum volume level of the speakers are quite poor.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for $199.99 (free shipping) on the Shell Shocker deal. This was a great value.

Rating + 5 Very Happy

Pros: Very Good picture quality, works great with my MacBook (13" aluminum). Easy to set up, the stand works well and you can tilt the screen.

Cons: menu touch-buttons, a bit odd to work with. cannot use speakers with HDMI from laptop, as video only sends video signal. Very minor issues and the on-board speakers are not needed, especially at this price point

Other Thoughts: Great Price, great service with Newegg!

Rating + 5 Can't beat it!

Pros: This monitor is great, Bight, No dead pixels or anything. I absolutely love how the bottom of the screen is touchscreen (the buttons).. It's an amazing screen, Buy this if you got the $$

Cons: It wasn't free, and, It's kinda blurry in games. So if your a gamer, just make sure you have a good graphics driver :) and the stand isn't adjustable

Other Thoughts: I wish it had an adjustable stand, and the whole screen was touch :D

Rating + 5 Beautiful

Pros: The display is fantastic. I actually own 2 different Acer monitors now (my girlfriend is using the other one) They look as nice as any other monitor of the size, and cost far less.

Cons: The buttons on the front are touch buttons as opposed to... Buttons. I hate that type of button with fiery passion, but that's personal preference. I don't need to use them much, so it didn't lose an egg.

Other Thoughts: I haven't used the built in speakers, so I can't speak to those.

Rating + 5 Great Monitor

Pros: I have a 24" Monitor at work and the 22" at home wasn't cutting it. So I moved to this monitor and I am VERY happy I did. Not dead pixels, great picture, for the price? You can't beat it!

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: It would be nice to have USB ports and maybe memory stick readers built in, but no big deal.

Pros: This monitor is AWESOME and can't be beat by anything other than something 50-100 dollars more. No dead pixels and great response time.

Cons: The touch controls are a tad bit insensitive.

Other Thoughts: Yes, I got this on shell shock day instead of a 23" and boy I'm glad I did.

24" is bigger than you think.

Rating + 5 Great monitor

Pros: Switching from a 19" to a 24" wide screen is unbelievable.
Plugged it in and worked fine, no messing about, no issues, just a big, beautiful monitor. Not a single dead pixel.
Street Fighter IV looks amazing.
It scared my wife when she came downstairs and saw it for the first time.

Cons: Touch buttons can be a bit irritating but once it's setup it's not a big deal.
Explaining to my wife why a giant monitor is a good thing.

Other Thoughts: Got it during the 1 day sale for $200. That's just a ridiculously good deal.

Rating + 4 wow; big

Pros: Brilliant screen; sharp, large, bright. All the limitations of an LCD, but for an LCD it's a nice one.

0 problem pixels.

OSX; no setup required; plugged it in, and everything's working.

Cons: Normal LCD limitations (lesser viewing angle/color accuracy than a CRT), but that's what you get.

The only thing specific to *this* LCD is the lag of the touch-sensitive buttons. Hit one, and nothing happens (or so it seems). a full two seconds later the menu appears, but no button presses in the meantime are registered. You have to use the on-screen menus very slowly - they do work, they're just an exersize in patience.

Other Thoughts: coming from a trusty old 21" CRT that finally kicked the bucket. Shellshocker on monday forced my hand - great price @ $199 shipped.

Rating + 5 I never thought i would say this

Pros: Like the title says, i never thought that i would say this, but its almost too big, too bright, and too clear! Going from a 19" 1680x1050, it is way better than i would have thought. I plugged it in, loaded the AEM (Acer software) and then Vista downloaded an update for it. After that i play about 1 minute of Fallout 3...WOW! That is how that game should be played

Cons: The Acer software was a PITA to load and took way longer than it should have IMO. Neither Vista nor ATI recognized the monitor right away. However, after the Acer software was loaded everything worked

Other Thoughts: I paid the same amount for this monitor as my 19"! I am really satisfied so far....i guess we will have to see what happens in the coming months....

Using an MSI 4890 oc'd 900/1000

Rating + 5 Perfect, virtually

Pros: NO DEAD PIXELS! (YAY!!!)
BRIGHT (Seriously!)
Only $200 (Got the shellshocker)

Cons: It wasn't free?
No adjustable stand. Like my Monitor higher, will have to buy a pedestal. They make any with a built in USB hub?

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried the speakers, don't want/need to.

Rating + 5 1 dead pixel,sooo what

Pros: I upgraded my 22 inch Acer to this 24 inch monitor.
Yep I also have a DEAD pixel while booting up on the right side.
After booting up I don't see the Dead pixel.
Yep I also got the acrer for $199 with free shipping....
From upgrading a 22 too a 24 inch does make a differance.
I am not complaining about the ONE dead pixel because I don't even see it after I am on windows.......
For the price and One day shipping....I am very happy,
I bought the 19 inch Acer awhile back
Bought the 22 inch acrer last year
I think acrer makes a good product for a great price when you
can find it on Newegg..........JT

Cons: 1 dead pixel,,,,,do big dealllll, you never see it

Other Thoughts: This is my 3rd Acrer
I am sure I will buy another acrer in the future............

Rating + 5 Excellent choice once ironed out

Pros: Deep colors, comes with every cable you might need. Fast shipping as usual. Side by side they command my entire field of view!

Cons: I ordered two of these on shellshocker day and was initially disappointed after hooking them up as they both emitted a buzzing sound from their transformers. After looking up this issue in several forums I found that the issue is directly related to the ACER monitor's brightness levels. They were both set to 77% out of the box. I cranked them both to 100% and they are dead silent now. After readjusting the brightness from OS X they are gorgeous to look at.
