superb monitor!!!
Pros: this monitor is SUPERB!!!! I am just speechless. I was going to buy a samsung T240 but my trip to circuit city changed my decision. My brother has a HP W2007 and i glossy screen is beatiful!!! After i saw gateway FHD2400, i was amazed with the picture quality. I would never thought i will buy a gateway screen but i am totally satisfied and love FHD2401!
Cons: However couple of bad things: 1) one death pixel at the top right corner. I don't care but still it is a con. 2) the factory pre set is very bad. Install the cd and it will automatically calibrate for you. Update the program online to make it more crisp.
Other Thoughts: I hooked up my PS3 (gaming getting better), my computer (AMD X2 6000+, 2GB ram, XFX 8600GT, etc) and I am really satisfied. BUY IT. I was a loyal samsung buyer and i love them, but this monitor tops anything that is out there. The last gateway i bought was about 7 years ago when i got my first PC. The quality and gateway brand itself got much better! BUY BUY BUY!!! free shipping too!

Don't purchase this product
Pros: None
Cons: Purchase this monitor with high expectations. Did not purchase extended warranty. After 15 months the monitor failed. Gateway's first question - did you purchase the extended warranty - Gateway's response - sorry we can't help you. Took monitor to a national repair center - they can't get parts (needs PC board). Tried to purchase the part directly from Acer (now own Gateway) - no dice won't sell me the part. I now have an expensive paper weight.
Other Thoughts: Don't purchase this or any Acer product - this type of service should be against the law. Will file a complaint with FTC...
Love NewEgg though, not a reflection of NewEgg in any way.

Impressed at first...
Pros: The monitor itself is gorgeous with impressive specs and every type of input possible. The built in USB hub came in handy while organizing my desk space.
Cons: Received the monitor with one hot pixel out of the box. About 1 week later, red vertical lines started to show up that appeared to flicker. The display went grainy and the color was way off. Gently tapping the screen fixed the problem temporarily but it always came back. I verified with Gateway tech support that this was due to a bad monitor and now I have to send it in for repair (12-15 days total - REPAIR, not replacement). I really expected a higher level of QA on a monitor of this caliber and price. I suppose this is an example of a corporation looking out for their bottom line in a low-margin, highly competitive industry. I am looking forward to getting the 'repaired' monitor back. I just hope Gateway doesn't make me regret buying this unit.
Other Thoughts: Defects are a fact of life in the computer world. I understand this and we all have to tolerate this at some point. Based on my first impression of this monitor and the other reviews, I am remaining optimistic. However, If this doesn't work out for the better, it is unlikely I am going to purchase another Gateway product.

Luck of the draw
Pros: Vibrant color compared to my 20" lcd I have next to it. The casing is stylish and its shiny finish works well with the glossy screen. Lots of connections.Easy to move around and adjust on my desk which was nice considering the size. Lower resolutions then it's native resolution scale much better then they do on my 20" keeping a sharp clear picture.
Cons: Well I have a stuck pixel that is just to the left of center of the screen which is a real bummer but which has gotten dimmer or I am just good at ignoring now. I have some light bleed around the bottom, top, and left side which really I only find to be very noticeable while booting and slightly noticeable on very dark scenes when watching a dvd.
Other Thoughts: If I had received a perfect screen I would have found the price to be perfectly reasonable for all the options and quality this monitor have to offer. As it is I don't regret buying this monitor as it still has all the options I was looking for but I wish I had paid less for it considering the flawed panel I received.

Great monitor but just a few flaws
Pros: Great colors, great response time, and great resolution. It also has every input you could possibly ask for.
Cons: The only con I find in this is that you cant tilt the screen up or down so when you view at it from a lower angle, the top part of the screen is dark.
Other Thoughts: I love it. I connect my PS3, computer, and directv box straight to this monitor and everything is as crisp as it can get.

2 Month Update
Pros: Sharpness Resolution Choice of inputs No dead pixels
Cons: Doesn't auto detect active input. Sometimes I use both VGA and DVI for different computers. It would have been nice if it automatically switched to the active input upon power up.
It doesn't remember the default menu language. I power down the monitor using a power strip. When I power up it always prompts for a default menu language.
Couldn't color correct it using a Color Vision Spyder. It's close to the desired white point but couldn't match it to my Dell.
Runs hot compared to my Dell.
Other Thoughts: If you plan on using two monitors, buy the exact same ones at the same time. I waited too long (OK, so I had to wait until prices dropped, upgrade my computer and video card, and then make room for it on my table) so that my Dell 2405 was no longer in production.

Great Monitor!!!
Pros: It's a 24" monitor with just about every kind of input you could want in a high def monitor. The stand is one of the better stands I've seen on a 24" LCD and it even rotates to portrait mode if you so desire. Zero dead pixels.
Cons: There is some backlight bleed but I haven't seen a monitor this size for less than a thousand dollars that doesn't. I don't knock it for that. Unless you're constantly using it to watch movies in a cave with no outside light source it's not all that noticeable.
Other Thoughts: This is a 6-bit TN panel. If you buy this thinking you're going to get perfect color reproduction you're a moron. TN panels have fast response times for gaming and movies and for most people they're plenty good enough. If perfect colors are your thing you need to be looking at much more expensive LCDs than this one. The high gloss screen is a love it or hate it thing. It doesn't bother me but if you're prone to noticing glare it's a killer.
Buy it. It's worth every penny.

Wouldn't buy again
Pros: Acceptable price for size and image quality. Zero dead pixels.
Cons: Terrible dark banding that appears at top of screen as you move your head down. Eyes level with the topmost part of the monitor seems to be the sweet spot. If you go any lower the dark band grows larger and darker. In other words, poor vertical viewing angle. Horizontal is fine. Oftentimes tries to display Vista desktop in portrait mode rather than the standard landscape mode. Takes seconds to correct itself. Annoying. Stand looks cheap but works fine and has decent vertical adjustment.
Other Thoughts: The banding would preclude me from recommending this product to anyone else. It may be endemic of this type of panel. I have not tried any input besides DVI-D.

Good Buy
Pros: The screen real estate is perfect for AutoCAD and large spreadsheets simultaneously. The colors are extremely sharp, especially with the built in tuner program that comes with it. The PS3 and blu-ray movies look flawless and has easily overtaken my TV for this ability.
Cons: Can't have two digital sources (HDMI+DVI) simultaneously. Glare can be an issue if you have daylight streaming in through the windows. Screen orientation will sometimes be 90 degrees counterclockwise when switching from HDMI back to DVI, but it rights itself within 5 seconds, minor inconvenience.
Other Thoughts: As many negatives as it does have these were all things that I knew about from the start and still went with this monitor. For the amount of inputs, the resolution, and the price (430 from newegg shipped when I bought it), its hard to find anything that even compares. Running an 8800GTS and I'm still able to run a lot of games at the native resolution. A must have for anyone who's looking for a monitor to last a few computer generations.

Awsome!
Pros: This thing is super versatile and suits all my needs. I am using it as a computer monitor and playing my Xbox 360 on it with NO ADAPTERS!!! All sorts of hook-ups make this thing worth it. 24 inch 3 ms response HD monitor is sick.
Cons: NONE!
Other Thoughts: Simply Amazing

FHD2400
Pros: Excellent quality. Features are terrific. A little pricey but very happy with purchase.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a solid monitor with enough features to cover any and all computer functions then this is the one to buy. High price for a high end monitor.

Good monitor, not great.
Pros: Size, inputs, price.
Cons: The picture and colors are not near as crisp compared to my 24" dell ultrasharp I have sitting next to this. Some backlight bleed, acceptable.
Other Thoughts: If you can afford the dell go with it. I got this on a popular acution site for 350 so I went for it. I can live with it at that price.

Amazing Display - A True Upgrade
Pros: Color Produced by Glare, Massive Inputs, Touch Menu, Software, Flexible Base, Video Scaling
The glare coating creates beautiful colors. There are true shades of black and bright colors really come to life. I felt as if I had installed a new video card and turned settings up on any application I used.
The menu system is very high tech compared to other models in price range. There are no buttons visible when the system is turned off. The buttons actually light up when you activate the menu and are very fluid.
The software included allows you to change the brightness/colors/etc from inside Windows. More importantly, allows you to drag the PiP window around the screen, making PiP very useful.
The base easily rotates on your desk (see picture showing bottom wheel) and also allows this massive display to be very high from your desk, easily making any tower look puny.
The video scaling options allow you to view any resolution without distortion accurately.
Cons: Glare, Generic Silver Base, Calibration Software, One Year Warranty
The glare is similar to what you would see on a CRT without an Anti-Glare coating. Can be eliminated completely if you setup your environment appropriately.
The silver base seems like a shortcut in the product quality. While the base is nice and heavy, it looks cheap compared to the stainless steel accent on the front just above it. I would have preferred a matching black base.
I did not find the calibration software helpful. I produced better results cycling through presets. Also had trouble getting the software to connect to the monitor.
Other Thoughts: Includes plenty of cables and is packaged very well unlike many other models. The DVI/VGA cable included feel cheap compared to others included with the ViewSonic model (see below).
I tested this model side by side with a glossy LG model as well as a ViewSonic VP series model. It was absoutely no contest.
I have a March 2008 model and I have ZERO dead pixels and ZERO backlight bleed. This model had the best backlight of the others tested.
If you are on the fence about which size monitor to purchase, I would definately advise to purchase a 24" model as you are future proofed and do not need anti-aliasing at all if running in native resolution due to the 1920x and the DCDi video processor.

Glorious
Pros: 3ms response time. enough said. it is proven that with the right stress level that even on 5 ms you can get ghosting. that takes a lot of stress though. this is bright enough to not get dulled out in the day time, yet it won't blind you. the size is perfect for hd gaming and movies. as a bonus the touch menu is easy enough to use.
Cons: on dark scenes of movies and games you can see the bright lights. i don't mind it, but some people might. it does get annoying when you play CoD 4 and you can't see around a corner cause the bright lights make the dark spots look foggy.
Other Thoughts: Great monitor. yeah it is a smidge on the higher price range, but for 3 ms and this resolution, i'll pay it. durability, in both the stand and dispaly. i never liked gateway till i bought this monitor. As always, newegg customer support is number one.

Beautiful Monitor
Pros: Absolutely gorgeous display. I am running it with a 9800 GTX so it really looks amazing. Xbox 360 looks great in 1080p (as do most things.) The stand is very adjustable and stable. I really like the way the monitor looks too-the silver on the bottom and glossy black is very nice. I also really like the touch buttons on the side; they keep things looking smooth and neat, and they are easy to use. Having composite and component plugs is great for use as a TV. 1000:1 is very good for a monitor this big.
Cons: It's pretty big, but I don't think that is a con. I have to sit farther back than I used to, again, not really a con. You will probably need a better than average graphics card to make it look super pretty. It isn't the cheapest monitor.
Other Thoughts: I haven't noticed any bleeding so far, and no dead or stuck pixels. I would definitely recommend this for someone into computer visual programs, or someone in need of a TV. I like how they don't have built in speakers, but some may not. I would very highly and enthusiastically recommend this monitor. Shop around for the best price.

Great Monitor
Pros: High Definition, High Resolution, 24", has input for speaker as well as video. PiP feature, almost like a TV. As clear as day, really makes computer games seem realistic. Having a good graphics card means nothing if you don't have a good display.
Cons: Pricey?
Other Thoughts: Still Worth It!

Wow.
Pros: I chose this monitor simply because of the amount of inputs it had, and man does it have a lot of them. Images look incredibly crisp, my friends definitely want to buy one for themselves. The response time is fantastic, the response time is barely noticeable, if at all. Bright. Clean. Colorful.
Cons: The menu is somewhat of a pain to navigate with the small scroll buttons.
Other Thoughts: I haven't noticed too much backlight bleed. The stand seems pretty sturdy, as well.

Best Monitor I have ever owned
Pros: This monitor is huge to say the least...and it looks great. I love all the input types...including HDMI for my next video card. I upgraded from a 19" Viewsonic, and I can't be happier. I play video games mostly on the monitor (CoH, HL2, Team Fortress, etc) and I haven't noticed any problems at all with ghosting. Anything bigger than 24" you may need to sit back from in order to see the screen, but this is perfect for me.
Cons: You better get a great video card to handle the 1920x1200 resolution. I needed to upgrade my 7900GT in order to take full advantage of what this monitor offers.
Other Thoughts: Great price from newegg and it arrived in 3 days at my door.

Gorgeously Disappointing
Pros: I upgraded from a 17" NEC, so needless to say, it's HUGE. The glossy screen makes it very vibrant. Tons of inputs great for connecting computer, Wii, and PS3. The OSD is really neat. Nicely adjustable (especially compared to my old monitor). Cheaper than the Samsung I was origianally going to get.
Cons: I don't have a PS3 yet, so I didn't get to test the HDMI connection, but with my Wii connected through the component input, their is alot of ghosting. I'm a graphic designer, and the colors are way off for me. It's too red, and the colors cannot be adjusted seperately, only through the color themes. The vertical angle of viewing is horrible.
Other Thoughts: The variety of inputs makes it great for gaming, even with the ghosting on Wii. But I'm more of a designer than a gamer and the off colors drive me crazy. Any suggestions for a good Graphic Design/Gaming monitor?

Not great for text work
Pros: Well constructed, big, nice stand, smart buttons.
Cons: Angle of view is poor. With my eyes at recommended level a couple of inches below the top of the monitor, text at eye level looks sharp; but text in the bottom 4" of the monitor is lighter, grey-ish, and not clear. If I drop my eye level down a few inches the bottom text clears up.

Beats Dell Ultrasharp (crowned champ of lcd monitors) - Samsung t220 (2ms refresh) - and new Acer 24" (2ms refresh)
Pros: This is the best monitor I have ever owned. It has the most a shocking and gorgeous 1920x 1200 display. This is my first monitor with a "glossy" finish and I must say, now matte finished look absolutely dull and lifeless. I am a competitive gamer, and that is the function and use of my computer.
This is the best stand I have ever sen on a monitor as well, effortlessly slides up and down, tilts down and up, if your sitting at a desk and using your computer you will have absolutely NO image distortion like people are saying because its a TN panel. I researched and tested the Dell 24" Ultrasharp, the Samsung brand new t220 made for gaming, and the 24" Acer thats on newegg to compare to this monitor. ALL WERE RETURNED WITHIN 1 DAY.
Absolutely no lag, 3ms refresh, CoD 4 runs perfectly, I again can NOT stress enough Age of Conan and WoW look absolutely gorgeous, breathtaking, and again the glossy screen really makes it pop and gives it SO much life compared to matte finish. Amazing pr
Cons: Back light bleed seems to be a bigger problem with some then others, I got a more recent production model and have very very very minimal back light bleed, all the other monitors I stated i tested before finally keeping this one with no hesitation had equal or more back light bleed, including the $200+ more expensive and inferior Dell Ultrasharp 2408.
Other Thoughts: Like i said i use my computer for games, and just general srufing and writing. This does those jobs so well and beutifully I could not be happier. The colors may be off slightly but I am not a graphic designer - a photo editor, or a videophile. Movies look good, games look amazing, smallest input lagg on the market for 24" and zero ghosting/inverse lag.
Touchscreen is enjoyable and slick. Best stand hands down in the monitor market today, of ANY size.

Great Buy
Pros: Price, great for gaming, plethora of inputs, good scaling, and a great stand.
Cons: Color accuracy compared to other 24'' TN's is a bit off. Other than this, I haven't seen any other issues.
Other Thoughts: No dead pixels, and I do not have the light bleed issue some users have complained about. This monitor is great for gaming, as it has a 3ms response time.
As stated in the cons, this monitor shows the worst color accuracy even after calibration. However, to the average user or gamer this really doesn't matter much. The 3ms response time and the quality of everything else makes up for that fact.

Nice Monitor
Pros: 1080p hdmi, available speaker bar to keep things looking clean, an hdmi audio out that plugs into audio bar so you don't need 2 cables to use hdmi for your video, great picture in picture, no ghosting, tons of inputs, amazing picture, software auto adjust for 90° rotation
Cons: As others have said, yes there is some backlight bleed, but it is minimal and limited only to when your screen is very dark. I usually only see it on loading screens for games, even in dark areas of games it isnt really visible. Using the picture in picture controls that came with the computer software can cause the pip to glitch and attach the video to your mouse cursor, moving it all over the place-so I only use the PIP controls on the actual monitor.
Other Thoughts: I would say that the contrast is decent. I like the idea of the pivot stand on wheels. The back stays still and the front has 2 small wheels on it that can pivot the monitor, yet allow it to sit still when you want it to. It comes with an annoying noise every time you click a menu option, but under advanced settings you can turn it off. I would recommend this monitor, especially if you're going to use it as a television like I am. Dorms are small and this can do the job of both for me...although there is NO TV TUNER!! so be aware that you cannot plug this monitor straight into cable and have it work for you :)

plethora of inputs, blindingly bright, some backlight bleed
Pros: Has both DVI-D and HDMI digital inputs, along with several others. If you want to connect multiple device types, this is perfect. The touch controls are nice, but it sometimes takes a few tries for touch input to be "recognized." USB hub is convenient. Picture is fairly responsive in terms of refresh rate. Picture quality when watching DVD movies is very good.
Cons: The glossy screen is very reflective, so if you use this in a well-let room, it could be quite distracting. There is a significant amount of backlight bleed on all sides, but so far it has not been a huge problem for me since I mostly use it for general "office" computing. The default brightness is blindingly bright - I use a dual monitor setup, and my two year old Dell 24" LCD looks positively dim when compared. The viewing angle is very limited - dead-on from front is the only way to use this; otherwise, the color shift from side viewing angles is quite significant and bad.
Other Thoughts: The height adjustment on the included stand is pretty good, should meet most needs. Would've been nice if they'd included an HDMI cable, along with the DVI and VGA cables. The included EZTune software does not yet work with the latest Nvidia driver version, but EZTune is not required for you to use this monitor. The one year warranty is stingy, recommend you buy the extended warranty at time of purchase. The best thing about this monitor is the plethora of input interfaces which seems best-in-this-price-class.

Great
Pros: Glossy Screen, 24 inches, Ultra Color Gamut 92% 4 USB ports, HDMI,DVI the list goes on and on. Great color, i turn the DV (Digital Vibrance) all the way up on my NVIDIA 7800 GTX which makes the monitor 100% better then it already is. Enough ports for anyhting and everything.
Cons: Viewing angle is not as good as i wish for games, but for everything else it is fine. no built in speakers, which sucks because now i have to buy some better ones so i can hook my PS3 up to it just to get sound. which means i have to use my RCA just for sound and DHMI for the video, just one more extra cord i wish i did not have to use.
Other Thoughts: Buy it, you will love it. just have/get some good SS speakers to go with it. i think i am going to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121126 for my speakers.

Nice monitor
Pros: very large monitor and very bright. gives a good amount of screen space. the High definition features are also incredible. i have my PS3 hooked up and the picture quality is astounding. variety of hook-ups makes connection everything easy.
Cons: The video setup is a little odd for the computer...i had to use the video card settings to adjust everything, but once its done, its completely fine.
Other Thoughts: at certain angles the color hues get weird. had to find a high enough chair to use correctly to get the right picture. Otherwise its a nice monitor to have. there is also a protective type film on the screen surface...so use only water (i only used water thus far, don't want any chemicals eating the film off)

CHEAP PANEL!
Pros: Outward appearance, interface controls, vivid colors (see cons)
Cons: Viewing angle is HORRIBLE! If you tilt your head slightly to the left or right, the colors shift and the screen goes dark. If looking straight on..it looks decent, but the colors are WAY off and can NOT be calibrated correctly. This is for people who just need screen real estate. Not for photoshop or anytype of Video buff. Backlight bleeding (blb) gets worse over time. Most users notice it about 14 days after first turning it on. Beware! Garbage!
Other Thoughts: If you're on a budget, and you sit DIRECTLY in front of the screen, join the lottery and maybe you'll get a decent panel. TN Panels are notorious for all the issues this model has.

Great Picture but.....
Pros: Beautiful picture quality. Plenty of real estate to view games on. I played Crysis and Team Fortress 2 on it and was very impressed at picture quality. No tearing or blurring while in game. Very impressive quality picture which really let my 8800 GTS show its muscle! Plenty of inputs for DVI, VGA HDMI (which I had an issue with). Menu buttons on front of monitor were backlit and a very nice feature, although they do take a bit to get used to.
Cons: I bought this because it said it supports 1080p HD tvs. I hooked up my PS3, only to find there is no audio output anywhere!!!!!! This monitor is prided for all of its inputs. When I was in Best Buy I asked the sales guy if it had an audio output. He said yes it does. The only way to get sound out of this monitor for HDMI is to purchase the speaker bar. Another $150 option which I would have to order from Gateway. Not worth the effort. This monitor was priced at $479, but to add another $150 to it, just not worth it.
Other Thoughts: If you want a monitor for gaming or PC use only, I would highly recommend this. but DO NOT BUY THIS FOR THE 1080P FEATURE!! The speaker bar is not the best quality. Actually kinda sad to return this monitor but I did want a monitor to have a duel function in my house.

Not bad for a TN, but awful if you've used better
Pros: Not bad at all for a TN screen. I like the soft-touch menu buttons and system, very easy and intuitive. Fast response.
Cons: Now this is the kicker - compared to other 24 inch TN screens this is not bad, but if you've ever used a good LCD like a Samsung 245T or a Dell Ultrasharp 24 the quality is just unacceptable. There's noticable color variation across the screen and I puttered around for 8 hours over two days trying to get decent text and decent graphics - could only get one or the other.
I also ended up with a blinding headache because of the glare off the glossy screen they put on this thing to cover up the TN panel deficiencies. A good panel can handle a matte surface (which reduces contrast and color 'pop' slightly) because it's good to start with.
Flimsy stand. Really, anything touching the screen (like a cat) just leaves it swinging in the wind.
Other Thoughts: If you've never used a good monitor (CRT or LCD) this will probably look great to you, especially at this price. If you know better, don't waste your time, you will be hugely disappointed. 24 inches is just too large for a TN panel unless you are going to be viewing this from a substantial distance.

extra description
Pros: 92% color gamut - most LCD's are only 75% -- This means this monitor displays a broader range of color, especially in the greens and reds. Absolutely gorgeous. ZERO dead pixels. Lots of connection options with Picture in Picture. You don't need any extra hardware to watch other sources, just need to plug the cables in.
Cons: some light bleed around the edges, but that's going to happen with ANY LCD.
Other Thoughts: I don't see this in the specs - but it's a glossy screen. Has 92% color gamut! As far as the gloss goes - the picture stands out compared to all the other monitors displayed next to it - goto your local retailer to view the difference. The only thing is at the retailer there are a TON of bright lights, so the screen does reflect a lot. DON'T WORRY, at home it looks amazing. I have a side window and side lighting and overhead lighting. Only the overhead lights are really bad - and that's not a great way to view ANY type of screen. The window light shows very little reflection and I just pull my blinds and problem solved. The other side light does not affect the view at all. So, with my use, I have ZERO reflection. Glossy screes -- Great for home use, maybe not so good for large office use with a lots of bad lighting.

Above Average
Pros: Aside from the obvious... The menu is nice, the "buttons" aren't really buttons, you waive your finger over them and they light up for use, then fade into the background when unused. Included software does a reasonable job with color calibration. Having the extra inputs (HDMI w/ HDCP, Composite & Component) is nice.
Cons: There is a very slight amount of backlight bleed around the edges. I can only see it when the screen is black (like when watching a movie) and its very faint. The color just isn't as nice as I'm used to. I had a Samsung 191T before this and I guess I was spoiled. Everyone else who see's it says its nice & call me crazy for complaining about the color.
Other Thoughts: Overall its a nice monitor and its worth the upgrade from my Samsung 191T, but I wish I would have spent the extra money and got the Samsung 245T.

utterly awesome
Pros: suberb picture, clarity, the swiveling and height adjustable stand is one of the best ive seen. turns 90 degrees. GLOSS SCREEN
Cons: made me hate my sony and dell lcd monitors because its just that much better by comparison. slight light bleed around the edges, and a high pitched whine that happens very infrequently. id get on the internet and find out how to fix this but it happens to rarely i just bang it and keep working
Other Thoughts: there isnt enough space to detail just how much i love this monitor. gateway rocks? who knew? p.s. this, along with HP are the only two readily available gloss screen monitors i could find, which is a shame. It really makes matte screens look awful side by side.

Fantastic Monitor
Pros: great monitor has many hookups for all standard inputs Huge to! i upgraded from a 17" letterbox monitor to this beast! and it is HUUUGE i love it. 1920x1200 with DVI looks fantastic. the 1080P high def is amazing, you don't see many monitors with 1080P or features like this for this price. infact i don't think you see any but this one. WHAT A BARGAIN! gateway is no doubt the leader when it comes to LCD monitors in my opinion. you just can't get a better display for the price!
Cons: when your pc goes into standby or when the monitor loses video signal it goes into standby mode but the screen turns on every like minute to show a "no signal" image then th screen goes blank again... seems like this would defeat the purpose of a standby mode and it gets rather annoying when your trying to sleep.. as this huge monitor is fairly bright. maybe you can turn this off.. i don't know but at the moment it's my only beef.. My suggestion is to turn the monitor off when not in use anyways as it's better for the monitor.
Other Thoughts: i hope this monitor lasts as long as my sony 17" LCD . i had that sony since 2003 and it's had ALOT of use and still works fine. I hope gateway's monitor will last just as long if not longer

Update #2
Pros: Excellent picture when driven with DVI. Just installed a Sapphire HD 3870 that allows me to drive both monitors via DVI at 1920x1200. VGA is sooo fuzzy now that my main computer drives it from DVI.
Cons: Stand doesn't work well in portrait mode. Using pad of PostIt notes to straighten it out.
I highly don't recommend this if it will be your only monitor and you plan on using it in portrait mode. If this is centered in front of you, the right side will be much darker (it's like standing off center from a rear projection TV). If you are about a foot to the right of the screen then it looks OK. Since I'm using 2 24" monitors (1 landscape in front of me and the FHD2400 to the left in portrait), this actually works out for me but it is obnoxious that there is only one sitting position where the screen looks evenly backlit. I remember having a similar problem with a 19" Viewsonic so this isn't just a Gateway problem. My Dell 2405 does NOT have this problem.

Gigantic
Pros: LARGE display. Make sure you have plenty of desk space. Decent menu system - I like the dynamic buttons more than a standard menu > up > down button setup like most have. No dead pixels. Very bright and vivid - although it takes some tweaking to get a good picture.
Cons: EZ Tune is more or less a necessity. You can't access a lot of the picture controls without it.
Other Thoughts: Although some have said the EZ Tune software is incompatible with certain video cards, it's actually just a problem with the newest iteration of Forceware. If you roll back a version, it will work fine.

Review Update
Pros: I was able to reduce the brightness by selecting my own color values and then adjusting the color (it was too yellow). Picture seems sharper/vibrant at the cost of some reflections on the surface.
Cons: This monitor runs hot!! I could feel the heat from the screen surface from where I sit. I also have a Dell 24" which seems to run much cooler. Has more color shifting/vignetting when viewed off-axis compared to the Dell.
Other Thoughts: I hooked the VGA to a KVM and there is some slight ghosting. I'm getting a Sapphire Toxic HD 3870 so that I can drive both monitors via DVI and use a dedicated VGA (no more KVM!) for my laptop. Will need to find my Spyder and calibrate the combo. Still no regrets in buying this.

No Dead pixels
Pros: Choice of inputs. No dead pixels (did the all white and all black desktop to check). Comes with all cables. Image sharp even using VGA cables. Height and tilt adjust allows it to match my Dell monitor. Touch sensitive controls make for sleek appearance.
Cons: Annoying audio feedback. Low isn't low enough so I disabled it entirely. Doesn't tilt fully for portrait mode. Would have been nice if there was a detent too. Stock colors are garish. Will need to calibrate it with a Pantone Spyder. Lowest brightness setting is too high. Plastic heads on screws that attach the monitor to the stand. Would have preferred all metal. Fingerprints are quite noticeable. Off-axis color shift more noticeable than my Dell 2405.
Other Thoughts: Arrived quickly. Ordered on the weekend and received it on Tuesday. No outer box. Just the Gateway box. Lucky UPS put it in the backyard. Nicely packed. Didn't notice the taped over box tabs on the bottom of the box so I cut open the back. Still easy to remove. Haven't installed software yet. would like to be able to auto rotate the screen. I thought the glossy screen would be a problem, but it isn't. My room has indirect light and there is a slightly annoying reflection from the glossy black bezel. Haven't tried to remove the feature advertising sticker along the bottom yet.

Better then Dell!
Pros: 1080P and HDMI!? Awesome, Touch sensitive menu is sweet. Remember, I'm comparing this to my old 07 model of a 24 inch dell which i paid 600 for, and i love this one better! Screen is crisper and the stand is sturdy, it's just like a high end TV for your PC! You can play xBox, PS3, or hook your DVD Player to it.
Cons: None, someone mentioned no soundbar? Well, they need to learn to read the manufacturer's website some. It's there, and if your spending this much money on a monitor, I'm sure you got a good sound system on your PC.
Other Thoughts: Thinking on getting a second one soon. Would be sweet.

Amazing Product
Pros: Amazing Picture, Touch Sensitive control panel, multiple source inputs, does full 1080p. Gots HDMI, Component, S-Video, VGA, DVI, and more.
Totally worth the price, you wont be dissapointed.
Cons: NO AUDIO OUT. If you plan on wanting sound for your extra devices plugged into your monitor, dont. It has no audio out. There is only two ways to accomidate for this problem. A) Buy the Soundbar for this monitor, which I'm almost positive they dont have one for. B) Jerry Rig it up with your computer, or Home Entertainment Speakers. Requires splitters, 1/8 jack extenders, Standard Audio to PC audio converter. Just a pain the rear if you ask me.
BUT, once you finnally solve the audio problem, you wont care because of the 24" of pure glory sitting in front of you.
Other Thoughts: BUY THIS, I know 3 people who own it, all said if I buy a new monitor, it has to be this one. I did it, and I wasnt dissapointed. Other then the Audio problem, its worth the 479.00. (which used to be 549.99)

Own 2 of these - may get a 3rd
Pros: I have two of these going on three months and no problems or complaints. I use them for video and graphics editing and they are excellent for gaming. These are the best all around monitors for the money. One of the better menu systems on the LCD market. All settings are done from the side bezel. Many video inputs and 1080p video.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I've price compared features on other monitors. Price to performance on this one is very hard to beat.

Awesome
Pros: Awesome display. Any input you could ever want. Extremely bright. Perfect colors. The person who rated 1 star obviously doesnt know how to use this monitor. You simply adjust the scaling options to make low-res items like the system BIOS full screen. Stand is completely adjustable. Simple touch sensitive controls. Useful for television, console video games, and your computer thanks to the many inputs.
Cons: None. Low ratings tend to be given by users who don't know what they are doing. I was shocked and appalled by what some people said. Their problems could be fixed with a simple mode change.
Other Thoughts: The optional speaker bar is very handy. I use this monitor for HDTV, Xbox 360, as well as my oomputer. Ignore the 1 star rating. You shouldn't rate a product low just because you do not understand the simple controls.

Very Very Bad
Pros: Great picture for the first week. Glossy screen;) Style.
Cons: Backlight Bleeding! I had two of these which started off with minimal backbleed that I could tolerate, but after 1 week each of them had backlight bleed from all edges to 1 1/2 inches in to the middle! I was so bad it started to invert colors! The color shift is also horrible on this monitor. If your nor sitting perfectly in the middle the colors will change with every position you put your head in. Besides the backlight blleed it looked like the picture also got progressivly worse all around(very strange) BTW, I have a $300 calibration device, and am also tolirable of "slight"imperfection, I know what I'm talking about, look elsewhere.
Other Thoughts: I had high hopes for this monitor, but it fell extreamly short. I ended up geting a Samsung Syncmaster 2693HM instead and couldn't be happier. This monitor looks impresive, till you actually look.

Amazing
Pros: -Amazing! Perfect image at all angles -Clarity and resolution is outstanding at 1900x1200 playing World of warcraft. -Gamer's monitor, I haven't looked at much documents to strain my eyes, but have been trying to relax from straining my eyes when I play on the new LCD
Cons: -FedEx didn't properly deliver it nor attempted to deliver it; had to run over there and "bonk" someone on the head -If it could slide a bit down it would be great, had to hike my chair all the way up.
Other Thoughts: Amazing monitor for its price! All you whiners stop and stare at this monitor's quality. Pretty sweet IMHO. Anxious to play movies in PiP while I am raiding :P.

awesome !
Pros: I dont know where to start, I was looking for an upgrade from my 21inch Viewsonic which i loved. But this completely blows it out of the water. The glossy shine makes it look great and the colors are SUPER vibrant. Playing Crysis and WoW on this LCD i actually laughed at the new colors/levels of detail I can see.
Cons: only one I can possibly think of is it being glossy, since I have it in my comp room....it isnt a con
Other Thoughts: I LOVE IT!

gateway 2400 = teh awesome
Pros: Amazing monitor and a monster. i got this because i wanted a glossy monitor and not many companies market them (hp being the exception) looks 1 billion times better than both my old matte screens (sony and samsung) colors scream at you, many inputs, hdmi, 4usb ports, the heat sensitive buttons are awesome and play sounds. good haptics, fantastic response time. great for gaming, media, anything as far as i can tell
Cons: must....think.....witty.....cons......
if you work in a cubicle with tons of lighting, or have glass bay windows directly opposite this monitor, think about
Other Thoughts: For some reason not many companies market glossy desktop monitors, which is a shame because i think they really shine on a desktop at home or dark office. the stand on this thing is also very nice, cable mgmnt, height adjust, the monitor is capable of portrait mode, well see if i find a use for it.

Superb
Pros: 1920x1200 native res, fast response time, brilliant colors. Can't put to words how happy I am with this monitor. The monitor I owned before it was the Samsung 204B... this monitor completely blows it away.
Cons: Takes a beast of a computer to crank games to high at this res, but with 2x 8800gts's in SLI, 4gb pc6400 Patriot ram, and an AMD 6000+, I run ANY game at 1920x1200, high detail, and typically 4xAA, 8xAF.
Other Thoughts: The $500 I paid for the monitor was well worth the investment to me.

No problems
Pros: I have two of these monitors and both look great with no dead pixels. I bought both of them locally. One in November and one on Friday to replace a dead 19" monitor.
Cons: A small crack in the case by the power button on the oldest monitor.
Other Thoughts: I tried last Tuesday to buy an HP 24" monitor but Newegg stopped the order because of of a mismatch on my phone number and the charge card. The number I provided was correct but the credit card company had a 15 year old number. I needed the monitor to complete a job I was working on and had a new client coming buy so couldn't have a dead monitor. That looks bad. Newegg really stiffed me by holding my order. Holding the order prevented any chance of getting the monitor by the weekend. In turn that ended up costing me more money by missing out on a deal. I had used the card at Newegg before without a problem so I was rather ticked off.

Perfect
Pros: The picture looks amazing - especially next to my old 20" LCD. I have notice no ghosting or bleeding. I have had no problems with reflection of the glossy screen with simple room lights. Kudos to Gateway on their touch control LED interface. I no longer have to hunt for which button to press to change the settings.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I saw this monitor in the store and immediately loved it. I proceeded to research many monitors, but for the price, performance, features, style, and the many good reviews, this was an easy choice. This monitor makes me happy every time I look at it. (and Newegg was great as usual)

It's really really really really nice.....
Pros: Refresh rate is really quick, very clean looking monitor. I was hesitant about getting this at first with all the complaining of the backlight bleed. While I do admit if the room is pitch black you can see it ever so faintly it isn't enough for me to notice without going looking for it in anything I do on the monitor. I would buy a second one if I could afford it hahaha.
Cons: Not one other then the annoying sound it makes, which can be turned off so not really a con haha.
Other Thoughts: Have this hooked into a blueray drive to put that 1080p to work AMAZING!!! If you are looking at this do not hesitate you will be extremely happy with your purchase!!!

Excellent
Pros: The connections, the touch-pad controls, the vibrancy, the quick response time...I mean what is there not to like?
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Other people have been claiming that this monitor has bad back light bleed, however mine as absolutely NONE. I play far cry, supreme commander, bioshock, and other games on this thing with no ghosting. I also played transformers blu-ray edition with this thing, with NO black light bleed....I finally have a screen which can do my sound system justice. The movie was perfect, almost like being in a theater.

Pros: cool styling amazing picture
Cons: it seems they didnt put an audio out on it hmmmm
Other Thoughts: i went today and checked this out at bb and seriously the tn panel debate can end here i was looking at this thing on a shelf level with my waist and i saw no color shift and there was no light bleed that i could see switching inputs this things kicks when you put it in 1920x1200 it is like unbelievable this is by far the best deal in a monitor sure there are cheaper but do they have this many inputs hell no buy it buy it buy it

Pros: Gorgeous, vibrant, keeps pace with games, DVD, and streaming video. Lots of features
Cons: Backlight bleeding on all and near-all black screens.

awesome
Pros: This monitor is huge. going from a 19" 1280 by 1024 to 1920 by 1600 is just simply awesome. I have everything hooked up to this thing.
Cons: The pivot doesn't allow the monitor to rotate far enough down (i sit in a low chair).
Other Thoughts: Make sure to fiddle with the gamma on your integrated or PCIe card to adjust the color balance. Found the reds a little powerful and after diving into the sound card, i was able to easily adjust the balance. This monitor is just simply awesome. Wish i had the money and room for two.

GREAT!!!
Pros: I was very skeptical about an LCD monitor because for photo and video editing, CRTs are superb. Overall I am really pleased with this monitor. Photos look great, colors look great. I didn't have to adjust any color settings. It looked great to me straight outta the box. Love all the stand adjustments and extra connections in case I need to use them in the future.
Cons: None for me thus far.
Other Thoughts: I'm not sure how this monitor holds up in hard gaming because I haven't played any high quality games yet. I play SNES games off an emulator and they look fine. No bleeding from the monitor anywhere whether I'm playing games or working on art. Very happy with it!!

Smoking Awsome
Pros: This Monitor is absolutly stunning. Has everything including the kitchen sink. Plays games with ZERO Ghosting. I Play Crysis, COD4, Unreal, and many Other Shooters. The Clarity and colors will stun You. Its Built with Quality and stand is solid Aluminum not cheap plastic.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: I did not Purchase this from New Egg as I don't Like The Return Policy for Monitors. Although I Buy All My Other Computer Gear From Them. I Compaired this monitor side by side with samsung, dell, hp, viewsonic, Hanns G, and Even the sharp 32" 1080P HDTV. This Monitor smokes them all. An Incredible monitor for under 6 Bills. I am Buying another For My Wife.

Gateway FHD2400
Pros: Like many things on paper it looks good.
Cons: Picture quality is unacceptable (even though I am using all digital DVI). Primarily heavy off axis distortion. Secondly colors and brightnesses are all over the map even when looking at it straight on making it impossible to color correct or even come close. These combined factors make it impossible to watch TV and movies on it, meaning all of those fancy plugs that you paid extra for are basically worthless.
Besides picture quality there is another major issue where as a computer monitor you cannot see BIOS, BIOS splash, and boot screens. It is not until a high resolution window manager such as MS Windows or X Windows (for UNIX / Linux types like me) comes up when you can actually see what you are doing. There are too many reasons why you need these low res screens to be viewable and this monitor just won't do it, making it a real show stopper problem.
Other Thoughts: Don't buy it.

Good Monitor
Pros: Great colors, lots of inputs, 3ms response time, nice pivot, swivel, and tilt. 1080p HD
Cons: Blacklight bleeding. I don't know if it's gotten worse over time because when I first used this monitor I never noticed it, but now the bleeding extends about 1.5" on each side and is becoming steadily more intense as time goes on. I used to only have issues when watching dark movies but it's now noticable on average light levels
Other Thoughts: Because of the light bleeding, I'll probably end up purchasing a new monitor and demoting this to my 2nd or another computer. Also, when at max rex. (1900 x 1200) the apsect ratio is 16:10 and widescreen movies are at 16:9 so they'll still appear to be in a letter box

Great Monitor except for backlight bleeding
Pros: Colors are brilliant, response time is great. I have an older 17 inch monitor right next to this one and the colors on the new one are far more accurate and vivid than my old one. This monitor has one of pretty much every input you'd want. The interface is easy to use, PIP works well although I don't use it much.
Cons: Backlight bleeding is very noticeable during dark scenes. Light areas show up on top and both sides when they should be black. I usually use my monitor for gaming on my computer so this isn't as much of a problem as most images are bright. It's only when I watch movies that the bleeding becomes apparent.
Other Thoughts: I use this monitor for my XBox360, Playstation 2 and my computer. Switching inputs between them is very easy. Originally was going to buy a Sharp Aquos 32in but this was much cheaper and still had the inputs and resolution I wanted.

Very pleased
Pros: Gorgeous glossy display. Fast screen. Works well with movies, games, and generalcomputing along with my 8800gt video card. Love the softtiuch ez-Touch controls. Rotates for landscape and portrait orientation. Oodles of inputs including hdmi, dvi, vga, s-video, component video. Optional sound bar for those into more of a media center display. Works as 4-port usb hub when connected to a computer's usbport. Nice stand for height and tilt adjustments. Works out of the box without software load.
Just an excellent display for the price...
Cons: During boot on black screen, there is some white light bleed on the edges. Not a big deal to me...
Screen rotates between portrait landscape, but does not have a locking mechanism so can can end up somewhere in between vertical and horizontal.
Other Thoughts: Was thinking of purchasing the Dell 2408, but saw these reviews and then saw the display at a brick and mortar. It just so happens that this dispaly was directly accross the aisle as the Dell E228WFP that I have. No comparison, this display is much better.
Remember this is a glossy display (which I prefer) and not an anti-glare...

Better Than I Imagined
Pros: The stand is really neat (see other thoughts), but the Gateway monitor is amazing, especially with all the added features. (1) The panel is stylized with 3/4 gloss black border and a (real) brushed metal strip along the bottom. (2) The LED power button glows blue, but the entire right border secretly hides touch-sensitive LEDs activated only when needed. (3) The monitor features nice built-in sounds! Plays a few when your it wakes up. (4) Screen clarity is unreal at 1920x1200 and the colors are so vivid.
Cons: None! I'm very impressed with this Gateway product.
Other Thoughts: Beautiful design details: (1) The metal stand is painted silver and uses a very cool force-controlled spring... The weight of Gateway's LCD screen panel offsets the spring's power perfectly, which lets you move the monitor up and down with ease. (2) The hidden, touch-sensitive LED "buttons" (you can't see) ARE a bit sensitive, but very futuristic in how they only light-up when needed. (3) This LCD really has others beat -- the resolution, refresh rate and detailed finish make me a happy Gateway customer, yet again. Google has stunning 1920x1200 desktop backgrounds too!

Great
Pros: Amazing picture. Some of the things talked about like bleeding blacklight around the edges and color problems, I had none of that. Have computer into DVI and upconvert DVD into HDMI and no problems with either picture. I sit pretty dead on so have no problems with viewing angle. It adjusts and titles real smooth out of the box, have tried butting the table and hitting it and it doesnt rotate off balance at all.
Cons: Having HDMI and all the video inputs you would hope for built in speakers like mentioned so it could be used alone.
Other Thoughts: I shopped around for a few weeks looking at a few stores for 22-24" monitors and nothing compared (other than HP who uses the same screen just with horrid support). Real good intuitive menu system to customize, nice case to it. It was real easy to decide this was the best monitor on the market at its size.

Pretty Sleek
Pros: Many inputs. You can tilt it in potrait mode. The touch controls are cool. Large screen size. Well 24". Looks gorgeous on the desk. The stand has wheels on which it swivels. Picture display is flawless.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Best 24" out there.

Currently, nothing comes close
Pros: - Almost every input you can think of - Glorious, jaw-dropping image - COmprehensive calibration and control software - Great feature set at this price point
Cons: - Color suffers when viewed off-axis (although that is to be expected for a 24" panel at this price point) - No integrated speakers
Other Thoughts: I had been monitor-shopping for some time, and knew that I wanted a 24" that had at least VGA and DVI inputs. There were several contenders, including similarly-priced products from HP, Samsung, and Westinghouse. What sealed the deal on the Gateway was seeing it in person at the local Best Buy store. The image was absolutely stunning; I was so impressed that I immediately bought it on the spot. What I did not anticipate was how much I would come to depend on the FHD2400's other inputs. At the moment I have my laptop connected via VGA and DVI (I use both because PIP doesn't support DVI and Component or HDMI); a DishNetwork HD satellite receiver connected through HDMI; the feed from my downstairs DishNetwork DVR connected through S-Video; and my DVD player connected through component. I have an all-in-one solution that covers all my computing and television needs all in one product. Simply an impressive, well designed product.

Worth the bucks
Pros: This was not my first choice but is now my favorite 24" LCD Monitor. The response time is fantastic in game play and no hiccups with the display at full resolution.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: This baby is easy to setup and comes with all cables needed.

High Pitch Hissing Went Away...Awesome Monitor
Pros: Awesome number of inputs, nice menu with touch buttons, nice PIP options. Although I have not tried it, you cannot use digital and digital PIP (only analogue and digital simultaneously). But, this should not likely be a problem because you can watch tv from a dvr with composite, s-video, or component (1080i). Awesome stand too.
Cons: The aforementioned sound, but its gone now.
Other Thoughts: I fixed the hissing sound by tapping on places in the back of the monitor where the hissing was coming from and found a place near the mount that it would go away. I added a washer to go between the mount and the monitor and it hasn't hissed ever since. The sound was from a wire barely touching a small plastic fan blade. Guess this is why I am a CpE.

Backlight bleed
Pros: Excellent color, clarity, and contrast. It's truly a wonderful monitor except ...
Cons: Serious backlight bleeding on all sides (about 2" to 3" in on a black screen). It's very difficult to enjoy DVDs with the monitor the way it is.
Other Thoughts: A) I found that using eztune was essential to obtaining a decent picture quality
B) I plan on exchanging this for another FHD2400 in hopes that the bleeding is an isolated issue.
C) I did not buy this monitor from newegg

super cool
Pros: over all a great monitor. the color, the size, and the software is pretty neat. the best picture ive seen on a monitor yet
Cons: the heat touch buttons are a bit touchy. and there is a slight color bleed on the egdes but only on black screens, and i have notice the veiwing serface gets pretty warm i dont know if its sopose to or not
Other Thoughts: just simply the best monitor ever and i thought it was a good price for an HD 24"

High pitch hissing sound
Pros: Everything is visually awesome so far.
Cons: I have this high pitch hissing sound when I turn the power to the monitor on. Does anyone else have this problem? It is not just me being picky. It is louder than my cpu fans and high pitched.
Other Thoughts: I will definitely return this if the sound does not go away.

Great Performance/Features for the Price
Pros: I was amazed by the clarity/sharpness. The menu system is easy to use - Color adjustment for image and video editing is good. The base offers the best Adjustment for Up/Down - Tilt forward/back and Vertical I've ever used. Screen Response time is great - no ghosting in PC games and image remains sharp/vibrant. Scales down resolution better than most LCD's Ive seen to date. Great number of video options. Composite, HDMI, VGA and DVI - Very Easy to switch between each mode. (Switch between XBox360 and DVI is one button press)
Cons: Being a hard core CRT fan,I'm very reserved about editing on LCDs. There is a very minor bit of brightness loss at higher angles. Not a big deal. I cross check on CRts - it's fine so far. XBOX360 looks great in 1080i (HDMI) but no built in speakers. Use composite (720i) and PC speakers is the trade off - Still crisp vibrant picture. Some older PC games don't support wide screen formats.
Other Thoughts: I was looking for the ideal Work and Play LCD and found it. Saw it in person at a Best Buy and immediately bought it. Nothing I've seen in the same price range offers the same features and performance. Comfortably replaced my trusty ViewSonic 20" with no regrets. Looking to buy two more.

Just right !!!
Pros: Just the right size, not too big or bulky. Great crisp, clear viewing. I bought this @ a big retail electronics store in SoCal and had them check Gateway site to give me price match $499, so I got a discount of $50. I am a gamer so my kill ratio has increased since upgrading my 22" gateway fpd2275w. Drastic improvement over my old monitor, in clarity and resolution. A big, pretty picture that makes me sit back and smile.
Cons: Works GREAT w/o installing EZtune. If you have an 8800 card I do not suggest installing EZtune at this time.
Other Thoughts: Simply the right size for me. I am still very pleased with this purchase and would strongly recommend this to anyone. Also, call Gateway and register this ASAP if you do buy to cover your back just in case you should happen to need the warranty. You won't but do it anyways. My old fpd2275w worked flawless for over a year and this one is a noticeable improvment. See you in game!

Best 24''
Pros: Lets see... The refresh rate, the colors are amazing. I have a dell 22in super sharp and a samsung 226 22in and this picture is better. way better.
Cons: no speakers, but you can buy them for $49.99
Other Thoughts: Best LCD i have ever laid eyes on. I use this for my computer screen after owning a dell and a samsung 22". The picture on this unit is 10X better. The colors on this monitor are amazing. Playing games is now more enjoying than ever. I have been playing crysis on 1920X1200 ans it looks beautiful. plus i can hook my Xbox 360 elite up to the HDMI and it looks awesome playing games or watching HD dvd's. There is no motion blur like other LCD's even though my other two LCD's didn't have that problem either. I just like the fit and finish of this screen and the menu. Unbelieveble. Buy one now.

Best inputs and screen available
Pros: (1)Color and contrast are excellent. Picture clarity and sharpness are flawless. (2)Input offerings are excellent (3)Picture in picture feature is great for people multitasking this monitor as a tv while computing, HDTV in pip is amazing quality (4)Base is very versatile and fully adjustable (5)Bezel and overall look of the monitor is excellent. Was weary of silver at the bottom but was surprised in person that I like it. (6)On screen displays/menus have a large number of options (7)HDMI and 1080p support! (8) Plastic coating on screen looks great and improves picture but can cast bad glare and reflection.
Cons: (1)Base is not firm enough for the rotation axis, monitor constantly off level needing fine adjustments to correct (2)Pic in Pic only allows certain combinations of inputs, HDMI users beware that you will need to use component video as well when using pip with DVI simultaneously. (3)Priced at an absolute premium for the 24" size (4) 2 of 4 units had unacceptable pixel issues out of the box, you will want to buy this from a local retailer to ensure exchange (5)On screen display buttons are pressure sensitive type, unreliable, trigger from finger tip heat getting close to button. Scrolls menus without stopping at times. (6) ONLY ONE YEAR FACTORY WARRANTY FROM GATEWAY (7) no built in speakers, stay away from optional attachment quality (8)Acrylic coated screen can cast too much reflection with standard lighting. (9)Unit does not remember last settings when powered down or entering sleep mode. Pain to choose pip input constantly. (10)software does NOT work with last 2 nvidia drivers
Other Thoughts: Backlight bleed is fairly severe but this is common in LCD monitors. Good dark black levels. Could not buy from the egg due to poor return policies on monitors. Used this to replace 30" dell for superior picture and refresh. Using as a 1080p TV with great success. Glare is an issue without matte screen surface, seems to help color and contrast at times. CC retailer allows exchanges for a single bad pixel

Great monitor/TV
Pros: Big bright screen. Menu is stylish and practical. Lots of ports to plug in just about anything. Works well as a TV and a monitor. "Normal-def" looks very good on here.
Cons: Only has one HDMI port
Other Thoughts: I bought this at Bxxt Bxy for $xxx which was cheaper than New Egg (thats a first) and i'm loving this thing. Runs my Xbox 360(HDMI) and my computer (DVI) without, but does seem to lag between switching signals.

Price Check
Pros: I viewed this in a Best Buy, wanting to view the HP model, I saw this instead. The on-screen menu is very slick and cool. For me that was the item that sealed the deal. The HP was nice, but the menu navigation felt 'clunky' compared to the Gateway. Other than that, they seemed, to me, to be the same monitor.
Cons: I'll let you know after I've used it for a bit. My first thoughts would be the reflectiveness of the screen... however, I moved it all around in Best Buy (with the bright lights) and there was some reflection but not enough to deter me from a purchase.
Other Thoughts: Gateway has this monitor for $50.00 less than NewEgg... however, depending on where you live, Gateway charges tax and with shipping it would've saved me ten dollars. Knowing how NewEgg handles their customers, I decided to keep my order here and know that I have a great company backing my purchase.

Worth every penny
Pros: Color, response time (3ms), great wealth of inputs, interface, and I have to say color again.
Cons: backlighting appears a little uneven if viewed from any angle other than straight on (hard to see in dark games)
Other Thoughts: Aside from the one con (which I almost forgot about), this monitor is amazing. 92% color gamut is unheard of in this price range. This is my second Gateway monitor (FPD2185W), and I couldn't be happier.

So far really good
Pros: I got this monitor as an upgrade to a BenQ 19". I've only had it about a week but I'm really impressed with it so far. I think someone mentioned that it's really bright right out of the box and that's definitely true. But I'm loving the size & colors. The USB hub is sweet. and I am really impressed with the menus for configuring the monitor settings.
Cons: None so far

Pros: For the money, size, and the features you get you can't beat it. I am not a gamer so this is not a gamers review. As Far as everyday work. Great!
Cons: First I would like to say is that GATEWAYS TECH SUPPORT is USELESS. 1. Really Bright screen, I have to keep the brightness at about 35%. 2. Glossy screen, Good for games and movies, Ok for everyday work.
Other Thoughts: 1. I have owned two of these in the past 4 days. The first one was running good until I installed the Security PIN feature for the monitor. Well, after the firt time I rebooted the CPU the video card never came back on. The handshake or whatever, must have killed the video card! I didn't know that it sends some kind of protocol to your card and bonds with your card. 2. Bought new video card and would not work all of the way due to the security feature. Installed disk again, and the area of the CD where you are suppose to input your PIN number was grey'd out. Called tech support and they told me to go to the "Extras" tab on the CD and input my PIN....I can't it's grey'd out! Then they told me you will have to put back in your original card because that is the one with the PIN stored on it. I guess he didn't understand the words "BLOWN VC". Long story short, I took the monitor back, and bought a brand new one. DON'T INSTALL PIN!!

Pros: Price point is great for what it includes. A great amount of inputs, ability to switch from all of your inputs easily. 1920x1200 native resolution looks fantastic in every game I've played, Including Crysis! The monitor is plug & play, and does not *require* the drivers/software install to use, though I recomend them if you want any customizable features. The lag time on this monitor might as well not exist as I have no problems with delays/response time. This monitor is great for online gaming.
Cons: No cons for the product itself other than the fact that I didn't get it for free!
Other Thoughts: Once again, this is a fantastic gaming monitor. The monitor alone increased my kill ratio in games from a 2:1 to a 5:1 based on the sheer amount of awareness you gain. I would buy this product again. I have not noticed any of the cons from other reviews.

FHD-2400 - Gamer friendly
Pros: Tons of inputs - DVI + HDMI is hard enough to find, plus Component 1080p compatable, s-video and VGA. The Controls I like a lot - touch senative and other than some minor annoyances works well and fast. Color, picture quality, response all excellent. Halo 3 on xBox, Crysis, BF2142, Portal, TF2 all look and play excellent on this screen w/ 8800gts 620mb.
Cons: Minor input sense and menu issues - if you turn off the device that is currently displayed - the menu disables for ~5 seconds while the monitor does not find the still active alternate input. PIP settings are not saved when the monitor is powered down.
Other Thoughts: Overall I still give this monitor 5 stars. I was EXTREMELY uneasy about purchasing a piece of gateway hardware. For that and the return policy that NewEgg has on LCDs I ended up picking it up at BB. This monitor was made right.

Amazing LCD
Pros: Huge bright 24inch glossy screen. Loads of inputs... 3ms response time! It is a TN panel so I was preparing myself for backlight bleed... I was suprised that there infact was ZERO backlight bleed! Im very happy with this purchase!
Cons: None... honestly, its perfect@
Other Thoughts: Buy it... Duh!

Dual Monitor
Pros: - all the inputs you need. hdmi / dvi / vga / component / composite / usb - very stylish and the gloss works wonders for blacks at night - Best monitor buttons I've ever used. Touch sensitive + light up. Was so sick of having my monitor move from trying to adjust a setting or turn it off.
Cons: - viewing angle color distortion (it is a TN panel) - weird brightness / contrast issue. dark grays never really pop out if they are on a black background. Pretty annoying, but whatever. - monitor doesn't recognize video input when loading bios / video card drives not installed (I'm 98% this is actually a bios / videocard problem)
Other Thoughts: Every monitor should have these inputs / touch sensitive buttons. I picked up two of these and am happy. Going to mount them on my wall this weekend.

Pros: Lots of inputs, very good video scaling for use as a TV. Colors are very good for a TN panel and the enhanced color gamut is a nice touch. The menu system is OK. The gloss coating gives this screen more of a CRT-like look and feel.
Cons: Backlight bleed is infuriatingly horrible. The effect is comparable to turning the top 2 to 3 inches of the screen into a negative image when displaying any dark images whether from movies, photos, or games - games being the biggest problem from a usability point of view.
Viewing angles are also very bad even for a TN panel. Side to side is fair, but vertically it's very bad.
The Picture In Picture can only switch between analog and digital sources - i.e. you can't use between 2 digital sources (like HDMI, DVI). I know this is common in monitors that support PIP, but it makes PIP useless for me.
Poorly calibrated out-of-the-box. After calibration, color accuracy is much better, but unfortunately calibration introduces significant banding in gradients.
Black levels are crushed.
Other Thoughts: I got it for $500 on sale (a good deal) but mine is going back. Considering the price, I would've overlooked the "normal" problems associated with TN panels, but the problems on this one are too great to accept.
Maybe I got a bad one, I don't know...
I really wish there were high quality IPS panels out there at reasonable prices like the 24 or 26 inch NEC 2690...

Love Gateway Monitors
Pros: This monitor replaced a 22" gateway that I bought 4 years ago (still using it as my secondary monitor) for 2,000 dollars (was worth every penny). Anyhoo, its a great monitor and looks great. Has no dead pixels on it at all. Was easy to put together. Its also very sturdy which is important to me... I hate monitors that when you bang your desk they shake back and forth. Looks amazing!
Cons: Its a bit finikie... it wouldn't come out of power save mode when I powered on the computer. It took a few times... something goofy also happened in that my touch screen display is now in chinese and I don't know how to get it back to english. The other thing that annoys me is the "DVI" box that comes up in the middle of the screen when you come out of power save... it stays on my fricken screen for like 2 minutes before going away. It might be a setting...but I can't change it since its in chinese. :)
Other Thoughts: I really do love their monitors, they make them very very well. As you can see I'm still using one I bought 4 years ago.

Awesome Monitor
Pros: Touch controls, bright glossy screen, incredible amount of inputs, gives you the option of controlling nearly every aspect of the display, EZTune calibration software. 4 USB ports. Picture in Picture.
Cons: Limited viewable angle, touch controls are alittle wonky at times. EZTunes has compatibility issues with Nvidia 8800 drivers, fixed with 1.51 update, but still crashes sometimes, and in dual monitor mode, the Gateway has to be the primary display or else it flips out. Picture in picture doesn't work with HDMI and DVI inputs, only works when PIP'ing with digital and analog inputs.
Other Thoughts: The positives outweigh the negatives especially if you take into account the price. To get the same amount of inputs and features with a better non-TN screen, you'll need to get a Dell 2407 or Samsung 245T, which falls in the $700+ price range.

Pros: Besides what you knew already, mine came in with no dead or stuck pixels. Work with my PS3 at 1080p via HDMI with letterbox (don't worry about stretching). Anti-Theft feature.
Cons: The only thing I can think of right now is the viewing angle. Horizontal viewing angle seems okay for my needs, but vertical viewing angle is on the narrow side.
Other Thoughts: The touch control is cool, but sometimes seems too sensitive and sometimes not sensitive enough. Not a big deal, besides switching inputs, it's not being used a lot anyway.

The Best I've ever owned
Pros: This thing is awsome I have it next to A 19inch Sony I paid over 650.00 just a few years ago and the Sony's colors look faded now. I pluged my cable box in and HDTV look great via HDMI
Cons: A little back light bleeding on the edge but nothing that bothers me

A Recommended 24" Monitor
Pros: - A plethora of inputs: DVI, HDMI, S-Video, Component, Composite and VGA.
- Awesome Response Times
- Great picture especially with inlcuded EZTune software.
- HDCP Compatible
- Intuitive UI with touch sensitive buttons
- PIP that supports two HD inputs!
- Gamma control within the monitor.
Cons: - Not true 1080p (1920x1200 vs. 1920x1080)
- Bright out of the box.
- Viewing angles, If you are on an angle the colors will be off.
Other Thoughts: I haven't had a Gateway monitor in about a decade but I'm extremely impressed with this one. Believe the hype, this is a great monitor.

FHD2400: Immaculate (almost)
Pros: Aesthetically it is gorgeous. Silver stand, touch buttons, glossy screen, glossy black bezel perimeter, and all the features a good monitor should have (tilt, swivel, rotate, spin, HDMI!!!, component, DVI, analog, 4USB, 1080p + resolution, 3ms).
Cons: I noticed only 2 potential issues with it. First, the left and right edges seem to have a little bleeding but only noticeable when the screen is all black (loading a game for example). Second, the colors seem almost too vivid even at factory defaults. It was difficult to discern the detail in the folder icons using the Vista Aero theme. Almost like the outlines weren’t there. I’m sure if I play with the settings some it’ll be flawless. It could also just be my eyes adjusting. I have a blue fluorescent light in the room, so that could be throwing the colors of just a bit.
Other Thoughts: I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. It’s actually a little “too” big for me, but it’s the best out there for the size / price, so whatever. I’ll sit back a little.

Great
Pros: Size and Features! Looks great. Ran Call of Duty 4 at high settings at full 1920x1200 res didn't notice any ghosting.
Cons: Blackout everyone once in a while. I noticed it particularly when running with only a gig of ram. I upgraded to 2g again and no blackouts.
Ez-tune software didn't work right for me. I had to use the default settings. Its a little bright but still looks excellent.
Other Thoughts: running on: AMD X2 3800+ Windows XP 64 2G Crucial Ballistics Dual ATI x1900GT in Crossfire

Would be perfect if it didn't bleed
Pros: Huge monitor, with 1920x1200 I can fit anything on this monitor, and it all looks crystal clear. The color quality is also phenomenal, everything looks much more vivid on this monitor.
Cons: Backlight bleeding. This monitor's backlight bleeding is really bad around the edges, whenever anything dark is displayed on screen It's very noticeable and irritating. It also has 1 stuck pixel, but that's hardly ever noticeable if you're not trying to find it.
Other Thoughts: If this monitor didn't have such a bad backlight bleed, I'd say it was perfect; I love everything else about it.

Best 24" I've found
Pros: Have this hooked up to my XPS laptop, DVI. Have played COD4 and BF2 so far. This monitor is beautiful. No dead pixels. Solely being used for PC/PC gaming. Have noticed the angle issue but its not that big of a deal since Im sitting in front of the PC not across the room. I researched the 24" field extensively before buying this monitor. I have looked at so many of the other brands out there and they all look like cheap black plastic in person. This monitor is a rock star! Looks exactly as it should for the price. With a brushed steel look on the front. I havent quite calibrated the colors yet since I am finishing up a new build. The XP is only temp. But in my eyes this monitor seems flawless. 0 issues so far. COD4 and BF2 on a 24" is insane. Almost makes you motion sick. Havent tried DVD yet.
Cons: None yet, hopefully it stays that way.
Other Thoughts: Bought this at BB. CC has a $50 off sale till end of December and BB price matched. Same price as the Egg ($549) ($499 with disc.). Except it was in my hand same day and I was able to crack the seal and examine the monitor. BB is selling Oct 07 models.

Rocks
Pros: Beautiful Monitor. Wonderful Colors. Great options, Great Inputs. Probably the best for the price.
Cons: The adjustment software, could be a little easier to understand or a little more automatic. But they are making progress.
Other Thoughts: Wish I could afford two? Everyone envies it? Great monitor, really makes games come to life.

So close... but I am a snob
Pros: The colors rock - the glossy screen rocks - The inputs rock - response time rocks - OSD rocks - Easy to calibrate
Never have I killed so well in COD4
Cons: This panel is so close to perfect. I don't know the full specs, but I really do think its a TN panel that's true 8bit (no dithering) and with wide gamut CCFL's. But go back to the middle part of that last sentence, it's TN.
It did have color shifting when only moving the head a few inches. It had poorly crushed blacks.
Other Thoughts: Better buy at 500$ or below. Mine also has backlight bleed at the edges, why do they put the outer frame on so tight that it causes this?
Connected by DVI, EZ tune is not necessary, comparing to my gateway PVA panel
Give it a try! It's not there for my snob attitude

Great Monitor, Amazing Color
Pros: Fantastic Colors, Glossy coating makes the contrast amazing. Has every input you can imagine so it wold b right at home as a monitor for a small home theater. This monitor is being used as my primary display for photoshop work. It is such a nice display to work on. Also the limited gaming i've done with it show no ghosting at all.
Cons: The text isn't quite as sharp as the dell 2405 / 2407 but this is a TN panel. That being said the tiny difference in text sharpness is so great it more then makes up for it. I wold recommend this monitor for anybody looking for a great diplay for just about anything except auto cad work. In that cause the Dell 2407 is the better choice. But I am completely happy working on my Gateway.
