Superb monitor for the price
Pros: I am impressed by this monitor, particularly when combined by the rebate offer Lenovo currently has going. The color gamut (as measured by a GMB Spectrolino) is comparable to that of high end graphics monitors (exceeds LaCie 321, roughly equivalent to Eizo CG21), and changing viewing angle results in less color shift than in most monitors costing significantly more. Backlight uniformity is excellent, and there is very little bleeding at the edges or corners. Out of the box color accuracy is OK at best. You need a good calibration device if accuracy in viewing is a priority. There is some compression in darker tones, but calibration takes care of most of the problem. Grayscale banding is less than I have seen on any LCD monitor costing under $1500.
The monitor height, tilt, and swivel adjustments all have good range and hold their position.
Cons: Small fonts are not rendered as crisply as on other monitors in this price range. Fonts of 6 points and below are fuzzy to impossible to read. Lovers of tiny type should shop elsewhere. If you want USB ports, media inputs, or anything other than one analog and one digital input, the L201p is not for you. There is no cable management, no integrated speakers -- just a basic, surprisingly good screen.
Other Thoughts: I use this monitor for graphics and text work, not blowing away bad guys. The 16sm response time likely will not make a hard core gamer happy. I saw occasional slight ghosting when viewing a couple of videos, but nothing obnoxious.
