Pros: Awesome, awesome picture. Color, clarity and brightness are unmatched in this price category and probably in many more expensive ones as well. slick little USB port on the side. Swivel thing is there but I don't really see that much benefit from it. ALl you have to do is see it in a row of many other brands of monitors and you will know. Yes it is a quantum leap above the ViewSonics and the Samsungs too...no kidding. All around terrrific monitor. Stand is great and very adjustable.

Cons: As others have said there is a bit of leakage at the bottom but the times when you can actually see that are almost never. It si not a big deal unless you are playing games where there are lots of very dark screens. And that would be about it.

Other Thoughts: Believe me you can't go wrong with this thing. The price point is awesome. The pic is just beautiful. I love Newegg to death but they need to adjust the price on this one to be comptitive with the factory closeout. The new hp's are going to be slightly different sizes but the prices seem to be better. The 22" is now a 21.5 inch and I have seen them locally for $219. Initial quality seems comparable but I don't own one of those.

Pros: New Egg delivered, as usual. This monitor came two days after it was ordered via UPS Three Day Select. It comes packaged as a compressed accordion. After getting it out of its unusual packaging, I got it into position, connected it to the computer through the standard VGA port and WOW! Great picture, Plenty of room for the desktop, height a adjustment is a breeze and, considering the quality, the cost is reasonable.

Cons: It does have a large footprint so you'll need a decent amount of desk room for its stand. NO DVI port but not a big deal as adapters are available to convert a DVI output port to the only other input port, the HDMI, that it has. Neither was an issue for me but it may be to others.

Rating + 5 Great Monitor

Pros: Clarity, contrast, glossy screen, appearance, stand, controls, slim bezel, HDMI port, blacks are very black, making text very crisp and contrast great.

Cons: A little more expensive than competitive monitors, some glare (see other thoughts). Monitors should never have onboard speakers. It's a waste, because virtually nobody uses them. Didn't go ahead and make the resolution 1920x1080. All minor cons.

Other Thoughts: My old 19" Hyundai was very old, and gradually fading, so I had time to shop. I read many NewEgg reviews, and did many eyeball tests in stores. The glossy screen sold me. I would stand back from a line of monitors, and pick the brightest, clearest, and most saturated one. Every single time it was a monitor with a glossy screen. It's so nice to see blacks looking black instead of gray. Yes, I get a little glare from a nearby patio door when I slouch to 1 side of my chair. I knew that going in, and was prepared to deal with it. It's more than worth it to get the stunningly saturated colors. It's like looking at the world through clear glass instead of frosted glass like other monitors. Go to the store and look, you will be impressed. Who makes HP monitors? I think it may be LG.

Cons: No DVI port, although for 5 bucks through Newegg you can get an HDMI/DVI adapter.

Pros: Excellent clarity, no dead pixels, like the portrait mode for working in word docs (143% perfect for a whole readable page).
Reliable, using both inputs (one for desk, one for laptop)
Got a great a better deal at local retailer so skipped egg this round.

Cons: Speakers cause more problems than they are worth. Would not recommend using them.

Screen is very reflective, chose you backlighting in room carefully.

Other Thoughts: This replaced an older flat panel (Compaq) and I have to admit this monitor (which cost $1500 less) shows how rapidly even low end monitor technology is improving. No real complaints if room is properly lit.

Rating + 4 Not Bad...Not Spectacular

Pros: HDMI interface if you can utilize it (You need to buy an adapter to hook up with video card DVI port.). Built in sound. Rotates to a portrait view. 2 USB ports. Very nice looking.

Cons: The screen is too glossy. The screen seems to have a durable surface but its way too shiny. You can see yourself just like in a mirror. Any light in the room is reflected badly off the surface. I suppose its a matter of personal preference whether or not this will be a problem. I wouldn't recommend this monitor if you plan on using it for gaming, photo editing, or any other kind of graphic editing. Also the stand features are neat but a little awkward to work with. When rotating it to portrait mode you have to be careful because the monitor can collide with the stand. The whole stand feels a little flimsy too. Lastly, no DVI connection. You MUST purchase an adapter if you want to hook this thing up to your PC's DVI port. Of course, there is an analog D-Sub connection available, but why even bother to get the monitor if that's all you have for a connection.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this from Best Buy so I could return it if necessary. Lucky me, I will be returning it. I purchased this monitor as a second display for my PC. I'm thinking I will just pick up a clone of my current monitor. The Dell E228WFP monitor. It doesn't have as many features as the HP one did, but its still a great monitor and it doesn't have the glare issue. HDMI is a gimmick for PC monitors. If you have HDMI go buy a LCD TV.

Pros: Awesome monitor, great picture quality, and it raises up and down plus turns 90 degrees. This is the best monitor I have owned so far.

Cons: I would rather of had a dvi and hdmi outputs instead of hdmi and vga.

Other Thoughts: I didn't purchase this from newegg, but rather best buy because they had the better deal. It was on sale for $219.99 and no shipping costs. HP themselves offer this monitor for $289.99 with free shipping.

Pros: HDMI Bright picture, text is well defined after tweaking. 22" is a nice size for me. Sturdy tilt stand for verticle page viewing and good horizontal positions, no left/right movement. Good color representations. (comparing to my 19" CRT Viewsonic PS790). Good website support for drivers and software setup. 2 USB ports

Cons: No DVI plug in. I didn't even try the speakers but you can guess how they sound. 1 year warranty versus 3 years from companies that believe in their own products. Shiny screen surface could be a draw back but enhances the picture. On top, dim blue power-on light is slightly exposed may need blocking.

Other Thoughts: This unit does not have a matte finish but shiny surface on the screen so it reflects. Best viewed in a darker room. I don't game but view pics and video so HDMI is a must to do this unit justice. Blue Ray movies just superb using WM Classic or Nero. I looked at the 24" model, to big for me but both sizes could stand alone with a HDMI DVD player/TV tuner. My first LCD monitor, won't throw my CRT out yet.

Rating + 5 Great size, image

Pros: - Widescreen
- Glossy finish
- Tight Craftsmanship
- Swivel

Cons: - Despite being a flat screen, the base makes it take up alot of desk space at eve level.
- Sound, but who uses monitor sound anyway.

Other Thoughts: - The factory default is kind of washed out, I prefered it to be a bit darker. Contrast was a little high too. Adjust to your preference. :)

Rating + 4 Great image, terrible sound

Pros: Great display, rotatable, multiple HDMI inputs. Looks really nice. This does a great job for gaming.

Cons: THANK YOU TO youshoulduseunix, I was also having the noise problem and it didn't even occur to me to turn the speakers off. This noise varied in pitch with what was being displayed on the screen. I turned the volume to zero and the noise went away, so thank you!
The rear-firing speakers suck anyway and should not be used.
For a flat-panel display it sure has a huge base and has a large footprint.

Other Thoughts: Looks great with an xbox 360 hooked into second HDMI port.

Rating + 5 As Perfect as Humanly Possible

Pros: Glossy display
Plenty adjustments
Other oddball adjustments: Power button light: on or off; fill to screen or fill to aspect ratio

Cons: If no input signal is on one the inputs that it is set to, it will go into sleep mode; in sleep mode the other input cannot be selected. This makes configuration between my Pioneer VSX1018AHK and this difficult. So I paralleled outputs from my video card to this. one through the receiver and one via digital.

Other Thoughts: Don't bother using the built in speakers unless you don't have anything better.

Rating + 4 Great Image Quality

Pros: Very good image quality, 90 degree rotation, swivel + height adjustment, 1080p support

Cons: speakers started emitting an odd bursting static noise even while not in use. Had to turn volume to minimum to stop it.

Other Thoughts: I don't use the built-in speakers since they're pretty low quality. But if you plan to, I'd look elsewhere. These are very poor quality speakers.

Pros: Geat picture. No pixilating at all. The screen rotates 90 degrees for viewing of long documents. (haven't used the feature yet). It's larger than one might expect.

Cons: Have to buy an HD dvd-rom and HD movies.

Other Thoughts: I did not buy this at Newegg, I picked it up locally.

Read what ports it has. It does not come with a DVI port. It has VGA and HDMI ports. It also has a USB port allowing you to utilize two USB ports on the side of the monitor.

There are less expensive monitors out there, but you get what you pay for. This monitor is worth every penny and then some.

Rating + 4 My re-review

Pros: USB hub comes in handy for flash drives, the HDMI and integrated speakers make it great even for console gaming. The image presets give it an exellent picture that's easy on the eyes no matter what you're doing. Pivot function with automatically adjusting resolution is great for reading web pages.

Cons: The screen does not only collect dust, but attracts it, then the dust clings to the monitor, making it impossible to clean; and it gets dirty fast. There's no DVI, and since most graphics card don't have HDMI, your PC is limited to VGA. Horrible viewing angle, make sure you wont be looking up at the monitor, as you will see mostly black.

Other Thoughts: The integrated speakers suck, they have no bass, but I can't really list this as a negative, because most comparable monitors don't have speakers. It doesn't natively support 1080p (1920x1080) or any other TV or HDTV resolution for that matter, so any console games will be either up-scaled or or down-scaled to fit, and will be stretched, because they will be 4:3 or 16:9, while this monitor's aspect rario is 16x10. While most of the glossyness goes away during use, any darker areas of whatever you're looking at will give you some glare. And the large space around the screen makes it bad for multi-monitor setups.

Pros: Huge, clear picture, moves in all possible directions, can even go into vertical position in a second, 2 USB ports built in, very esthetically pleasing

Cons: Only 2 USB ports, they could have put 4 like Dell does.
It has annoyingly slow auto sync and often I can not see the boot screen because monitor has not synch-ed yet and is black and by the time it does, the screen is gone. There are cheaper ones out there

Other Thoughts: Still love it and you get what you pay for - cool design, good picture quality -5 eggs

Pros: Just saying this is a beautiful monitor doesn't do it justice. I shopped around for a while for monitors at various local stores and this one is just amazing. Tried videos, pictures, documents & webpages on numerous monitors & this one came back as my winner (or at the top of the list) each time. Colors pop & text is crystal clear (something that I can't say for most I looked at). Bought it at local store for better price and just in case any pixel problems, but there are none, 0 bad pixels. As much as I thought it looked great in the stores it looks even better when I got it home. Would highly recommend this monitor to anyone in the market or it's siblings the 1907 & 2407. Great OSD setup menu also.

Cons: I didn't buy it a long time ago!

Other Thoughts: I haven't used the built in speakers but I wouldn't expect much from any monitors built in speakers.

Glossy screen could pose problem for some people depending on lighting, adjust your lighting accordingly & get this thing!

I work on peoples computers on a daily basis and can't remember seeing one that looks & performs this good. Just amazing!

Pros: Extremely bright, feature-loaded, shiny, inexpensive- nearly perfect for general use.

Cons: The backlight angles up oddly, which makes the color temperature different all over the screen. When playing a full-screen game at native resolution I notice that the image tears over 4-5 horizontal sections which it does not do on any other monitor I have tried. You can not slouch while using this monitor or the screen will be much darker, you can't tilt it down far enough to help this. The stand wobbles at even the slightest nudge and the display tilts when I turn it on because of the positioning of the power button. The display and border are glossy effectively turning it into a fingerprint magnet. There are nooks and crannies you can't dust with most cleaning products. It is very difficult to rotate at all, especially if you have the cables in its cable sleeves because they tend to pull when you're stretching it out all the way to spin it. It does not automatically rotate the picture on-screen when you rotate the monitor, the USB cable goes to the hub on the side of the monitor.

Other Thoughts: This is _not_ for playing games on. I will be selling this monitor soon.

Pros: Clear crisp display. No bad pixs, easy to setup for my viewing tastes.

Cons: The glassy finish does make it hard to view if direct sun light is coming in a window and shining on the display. Changing the window blind settings gets rid of the problem. Not a major deal, you just need to know this monitor may be hard to use with direct outdoor lighting.

Rating + 5 Wow...

Pros: shiny...

very very good resolution, I use it for my xbox360 and extdesk on my laptop, movies and games look really great on it. It has all the connections I need (vga, dvi, hdmi). built-in speakers with volume control on the front. has a menu with presets for gaming, movies, pictures, etc. and it makes a HUGE difference between each one

Cons: vertical plugs (sometimes the hdmi comes a little loose since it doesn't have screws holding it up

one time after having vibrations from my subwoofer rattling the desk the vga came loose and I lost all the green (my picture looked violet...) took me a few minutes to realize what had happened (again wouldn't have happened if not for the vert plugs

built-in speakers are on the back and it bounces oddly off the wall creating an awkward echo, I don't use it though since I have surround sound speakers

Other Thoughts: I normally turn my back on HP due to personal bias toward other products they make but I am actually extremely impress by this monitor and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an HDMI monitor at a good price

Rating + 5 1 year old and still the best

Pros: Glossy screen with little glare, hard to beat that ehh? This monitor also has excellent color saturation, as well as a deep contrast ratio that makes gaming on this thing simply stunning. I adore rotating this screen vertically to impress others, and although it's not completely practical, it makes viewing websites a joy. The built quality is also rock solid, the stand it comes on has been literally abused by yours truely yet it still works like a charm.

Cons: The brightness may be somewhat lower than other newer displays, or maybe I'm just so used to the screen that I've forgotten what a bright screen is. When it first came out the drivers were horrible, but that's been fixed.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this screen for over a year, and it's still bar none one of the best 22in lcd's out there. I have loved owning this LCD, and the only way I would consider a change is getting a larger screen (maybe two of these). After all this time I just now learned that it had built in speakers. Go figure, that could have saved me many times over. Live and learn.

Rating + 5 Absolutley Incredible

Pros: This has got to be one of the most incredible 22" glossy screen monitors I've every seen and I've been studying whats out there for 3 years. Finally broke down and bought this replacing my beautiful 19" KDS CRT. There is simply no comparison with this and the matte finish of most LCD monitors ... even though its a glossy screen it has very little glare. HP makes very good quality monitors and this 22" does more than fit the bill. Text is crisp and graphics are stunning. Works with well with Linux as well as XP.

I did the suggestion of some here and went to look at a brick and mortar store (before checking with Newegg) .... with all the monitors on, the HP's stood out to be the very best. I'm so glad I went ahead and bought it at the store .... sorry Newegg. But, Newegg is great and all my transactions with them are super. Wound up paying $100.00 off the list price at the store.

Cons: Now I'm going to have to redownload all my wallpapers in a1680x1050 format. ;(

Other Thoughts: Can't say enough good things about this monitor. Take the advice of some of the reviews here and pay more and BUY this one!!

Rating + 4 Best I've found

Pros: Great color, deep blacks, height adjustable stand, its not all shiny black plastic (my PC case is aluminum), no dead or stuck pixels, very little back light bleeding.

Cons: The stand is a little bit wonky. The screen tilts just a little to the right (kind of like a picture of a wall that isn't quite level and it bugs you). Also, I wish it tilted about minus 5 degrees to the front (most monitors do) for when I want to slouch in my chair with my feet up! As it is when I do the top portion of the screen gets too dark from the poor viewing angle. Minor problems, but worth and egg to me.

Other Thoughts: Great image quality out of the box. The presets (game, photo, etc...) are pretty much useless, but calibrating on the standard "text" was very easy. I used a Spyder Pro Express on it and the color changed very little from the default 6500K. In other words, it was good to begin with. After all the poor screens/panels I've seen during my shopping these past few months, this one is a winner.

Rating + 5 Pretty sweet monitor

Pros: This monitor worked well right out of the box, and the screen tilt, rotation, and base swivel are extremely convenient - I tend to switch from sitting up to slumping based on whether I'm playing a game or watching a movie. The screen is quite bright and the image contrast is outstanding. USB inputs on the side with a cable to connect them to your computer's USB ports is also a nice little feature, but I haven't used them yet. Came with a VGA cable AND an HDMI cable as well.

Cons: There's some edge backlight bleeding on all sides, but it's only truly noticeable when whatever's on the screen contains a lot of black at the edges AND it's dark in the room your in. I mean I'm a nitpicky tech person and this really doesn't bother me all that much.

Other Thoughts: Often times graphics cards have DVI out, I haven't really seen HDMI-outputs - if you're going to use this on a computer with a DVI output, buy a DVI-male to HDMI-female adapter so you can run the HDMI cable from computer to monitor. These things run really cheap if you look in the right places, I think I got one for about $2.50 online. Places like Best Buy literally charge $33 bucks for these, so beware - severe rip-off.

Rating + 5 Great monitor, great experience!

Pros: This monitor is, in one word, beautiful. The colors are very crisp and the black levels are amazing. The gloss screen is also quite nice if you aren't worried about glare, and has an overall great picture for a TN panel. I also love the design--The monitor is on a two-axis pneumatic arm, which makes moving the screen around a pleasure. Something else I didn't know when I bought it -- you can rotate it 90 degrees for better webpage viewing, word processing, etc.

Cons: The price. There's 22" widescreen monitors on Newegg for something like $160, although they won't look nearly as nice as this one.

Other Thoughts: I'm so glad I bought this monitor. I didn't think that a high-quality display like this would enhance my computing experience as much as it has. Bravo, Hewlett-Packard!

Rating + 5 The best 22" monitor for the money!

Pros: Excellent image quality! Dynamic contrast ratio of 3000:1, but even with that off it looks better than any other monitor in it's price range. It's glossy so consider that before you buy. Any bright windows, doors or skylights will be seen on the screen. I was concerned about it but unless you're looking at a dark screen you won't really notice it. Color is accurate and doesn't need calibrating(at least mine didn't). There are a few preset image settings to choose from but I leave it on "Text" which looks great. You can also manually adjust settings if you want to.

The design and build quality are also high quality. This monitor is a lot heavier than it's competitors which is great when adjusting the angle(or switching to vertical mode) since the base doesn't move. Cable management is good but some may desire more options. There are two clips on either side of the base in the back of the monitor that hold the HDMI, power cable and optional audio cable.

Cons: It's glossy. May or may not be a problem for you. It gives the image quality a noticeable improvement over matte finish LCD screens.

The speakers are pretty bad but I almost totally forgot about them until I opened the box. I don't use them but if you need speakers they are there. Just don't expect to hear 5.1 surround sound quality from them. Oh, and it also has two USB 2.0 ports on the side. I use these all the time to sync my Kodak P850 and Creative ZEN Vision:M.

Other Thoughts: I bought it at $329 which is a bit expensive for a 22" monitor I had thought at first but once you see it and compare to other monitor there is no comparison. For a TN panel I'm really surprised just how good this is. Especially viewing angles which I thought would be bad like other TN's but it isn't. Black levels are much better than Samsung's(funny since my w2207h actually has a Samsung panel) and back light bleed is only slightly visible near the top and bottom of the screen.

Just a quick note on the design of this monitor. It's styled really unlike anything out there. The closest thing you can find are Apple's displays/computers. It's very industrial and professional looking yet would look great on any home desk. HP has a winner with all of their LCD's, even the w1907 looks fantastic. The w2007 and the w2408h are also fantastic buys for the money. For me the best size was the w2207h and I'm glad I went it for it. I love it!!!

Rating + 5 The Best Monitor out!

Pros: Listen just go to your local Best Buy and look at it compared to similar monitors in its category like the Dells version. This monitors brightness, and crisp images, oh yea HDMI input makes it #1 in its category. You cant go wrong with 22". no dead pixels. BUY IT!! BUY IT!!

Cons: NONE NOTTA!

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy it from Newegg, simply cause I got it $40 cheaper elsewhere, however Newegg is still the best,.. (they could bring the price down on this monitor though, just a suggestion.)

Pros: It has a brilliant color. I love the piano style gloss and general gloss of the screen. Everything looks deep and the blacks are deep black.

Cons: Nothing that I have found.

Pros: I have this monitor at home without the HDMI inputs and its awesome. I purchased a laptop for work and noticed it had an HDMI output........thus it was a no brainer. The monitor is awesome and I barely pressed "enter" and Egg delivered the box to my office- Wow that was fast.

Cons: None......maybe a little pricey as I paid $239.00 on sale through Comp USA for my other one (no HDMI input though).

Other Thoughts: If your on the fence, this is a great monitor.

Rating + 5 Very good quality LCD video monitor.

Pros: Excellent picture, reliability, and value. Bright, high contrast screen with good uniformity and no dead pixels, great response time (<5ms), and average viewing angle (it's a large screen). Colors are rich, blacks are true and whites are bright without glare, imaging is super-fast without ghosting. Device has 2 input ports, built in 2-port USB hub for convenient mouse, mp3 player, or other peripheral connection. Controls are placed well, and visual design is pleasing, overall. Speakers can be attached, but alone, the monitor is completely silent when powered up, so it is perfect for my audio studio work.

Cons: The stand adjusts on cantilevered hinge, so monitor moves forward when lowered, backward when raised. This is to present optimum viewing angle, of course, but I prefer the piston/cylinder design of my old Dell. Height adjustment limited to 4-5", and there's no swivel as LEDs don't accommodate wide viewing angles. The backlight bleeds ever-so-slightly at the top border. I hardly notice and it presents no problems for my use, but those who view DVD films on their computers will find fault. The shiny finish reduces ambient glare and pleasantly softens the image which I like very much, but watch those fingerprints: they're near impossible to wipe clean! One small annoyance is from the lighted power button that glows white and is visible through the frame at top/left.

Other Thoughts: I love this monitor - the quality of components is obvious from the moment you open the box. The pictograph setup instructions may puzzle some, as it did me, regarding attachment of monitor to stand (fortunately a teenager was around to help!), but once powered up, this monitor is really fine! The colors are rich and bright, but pleasingly tempered by the glass and therefore does not glare, which means that I can work at this monitor for hours without eye strain. The image uniformity across the entire screen is excellent when the monitor is at proper viewing position (the stand needs a little vertical assistance, so I place the base on a thick telephone book). The imaging is very fast compared to my 3-year old Dell 19" LCD, and there's no after-image. Purchased in early December of 2007, this monitor continues to please, and priced under $350, it offers best bang for the buck.

Rating + 5 Great Monitor, but has DVI to HDMI connection issue w/sound

Pros: This monitor is by FAR the best in it's class for overall value and quality. I did a TON of research before finally choosing this monitor. Trying to find good quality reviews on 22' monitors was a pain because the reviews typically have older models. The best advice I can give is DON'T pay too much attention to all the specs some of the brands like to market. Go to a Brick & Mortar and check out the displays side by side. The overall sharpness and richness of color on this display make it great for gaming and especailly internet. Web pages look gorgeous. See Cons for the one thing I don't like about this monitor.

Cons: There is one flaw with this monitor. My Nvidia 9800 GTX+ only has DVI. This monitor only has HDMI. So I bought a HDMI to DVI cable (which works great). The only downside is that you'll hear "popping" sounds from the internal (worthless) speakers on the monitor. I called HP and the only solution is to turn down the monitor spearkers to "0". This bascially mutes them. This appears to have eliminated the popping sound. Will have to monitor for a while.

Other Thoughts: Great monitor overall. No regrets. Just keep in mind that if you're using a DVI to HDMI cable you need to turn off the internal speakers on the monitor. You won't find a better picture quality for a 22" monitor in this price range.

Rating + 5 Oh so sweet!

Pros: Beautiful! Great brightness, sharpness, great color, and I really like the glossy finish.

Cons: Out of the box, photos looked just a bit washed out. Running the gamma correction in the included software took care of this. And the gamma tool adjusts at six different brightness points.

Other Thoughts: Home office has east windows and a bad early morning glare. The glossy screen helped--rather than scattering the glare in all directions like a matte screen, the glossy finish reflected it away from the viewer. I had been worried about that, now I'm pleased.

I didn't hook up the speakers because I have external ones, so imagine my surprise when they started playing sound. Turns out the display supports HDMI digital audio through my Radeon 2600, so the computer saw this as another stereo output device and started using it.

The monitor also supports changing monitor settings from the PC (don't recall the name of this standard) so the bundled software can adjust brightness, contrast, not just gamma.

Pros: Without a doubt, the best monitor I've ever owned. Detail level on HP monitors are second to none.

Cons: Base is a little loose on the monitor, so the monitor likes to rotate to the right a little when I have the sound turned up a but ( I have a Bose speaker system so bass rattles everything). Second monitor I own does this as well. Monitor generates a lot of heat.

Other Thoughts: This monitor is the best 22" I've ever seen!

Rating + 5 Vivid, sharp and simply the best

Pros: I waited a long time to replace my once beloved 21" Sony Trintron CRT. I'd perused computer stores as well as what friends had bought for "the day" I was finally ready to make the jump and get a panel. I'd never even considered HP for panels, but a stroke of luck got me a coupon towards any new HP product. So I dove into this panel and was just blown away. Amazing contrast and color accuracy, near zero backlight even at edges, vivid, sharp and fast - all from corner to corner, every pixel perfect. Everyone that sees it only says one thing: Wow! Great for gaming, too - no lag even at high resolutions.

Cons: Only one but is also a pro - the gloss screen. Always preferred them over matte as enhances sharpness and color accuracy. But could be a nuisance to some if is in an brightly lit area where you can't place it or control lighting so to reduce glare.

Other Thoughts: Well worth the extra bucks over other "top" brands. Have used them all, HP is by far the best panel.

Rating + 3 Average LCD

Pros: No dead pixels.

Cons: Box was missing all cables, manual, driver CD and warranty card. Used my old cables from my previous monitor to set it up just to see how it looks. The image quality is worse than my 3+ year old 17" Samsung, somewhat grainy text and images in games and overly yellowish color I can't seem to get corrected. Plus it sits tilted to the right slightly and there's not way to fix it, the stand won't adjust that way.

Other Thoughts: I'm thoroughly underwhelmed by this monitor. After all the glowing reviews I was expecting something special. Its fine if all you do is surf the net, but games look kind of bad from a sharpness of image and color standpoint. Plus the fact there was nothing in the box save for the monitor itself left me with some nagging suspicions as to whether it was a repacked return or sloppy quality control at the plant. Didn't buy from Newegg - got it at a local office supply story so returning it will be easy.

Pros: Best Monitor I have ever owned. I bought mine for 299 at a computer store... But this Monitor is worth so much more. The picture is extreamly bright and you get so many exters when you get this. For example... Hdmi/ usb connections/speakers/ tilt screen...etc... Well worth the money

Cons: Newegg needs to drop the price a little bit more for this to be a great deal.

Pros: This monitor is great, particularly for me when I'm gaming. I think 22'' is perfect( not too big not too small). The screen has a nice gloss finish and sleek design. The picture is beautiful. Built in speakers, which makes a nice center speaker if your working on an audio setup. The screen can also flip vertical for a tall/skinny view and automatically adjusts when u do so. The stand is great. It easily allows the screen to raise up and down and or lean back/ forth to adjust your view. Comes with an easy setup disc. Great buy, even though I didn't order it off newegg.

Cons: none

Pros: Great monitor, It's an HP, so it matches everything else I have. I usually don't like glossy monitors, but all glare seems to go away when in use, and makes the picture brighter! Has built in speakers and came with an HDMI cable, so I use the monitor for both my PC and console gaming. Very bright picture and two easily accessible USB ports on the side, this is by far the best monitor I've ever used.

Cons: It has no DVI input. I don't know if about everyone else, but I had to install drivers to get it to properly display an image over 1280x1024...

Pros: This is by a long shot the best 22" monitor on the market. The picture is perfect, the glossy sheen the screen has seems to make the picture clearer. No dead pixels and the stand is awesome. Lots of inputs, HDMI ++++. Also I shopped around and this is the cheapest I could find it.

Cons: price

Other Thoughts: Only regret I have is I didn't buy the 24". But $460 is alot of coin.

Rating + 5 Great screen!

Pros: I didn’t purchase this product from NEW EGG, but rather from a local appliance store. Out of all the 22 inchers currently on the market, this by far has the upper hand on its competitors. The design is exceptionally stylish with class. High glossy black finish with versatile abilities to stand the monitor vertically, adjust its tilt and height was enough for four eggs. The fifth egg is for its rich display of colours on the screen.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: A definite must-have.

Rating + 4 screen defective

Pros: Looks excellent! Has a great color and clarity. It also rotates 90 degrees. It has a pretty good range of motion too.

Cons: The screen is wavy and doesn't look right from some angles -- factory defect I assume and I'm going to call hp about it to see if I can get a replacement.
It also has a rather hard to adjust base/arm. The arm tends to pop up to easily and then the screen is VERY hard to tilt up or down. I thought it didn't at first. Also the speakers aren't good at all -- what are they for?

Other Thoughts: This is a great display for the price! It competes with other top quality displays, but is not quite as clear as say, an Apple Cinema Display, but the apple display isn't worth the price either so....

Rating + 4 Decent PC Support, Screwy HDMI Support

Pros: The color on this monitor is pretty good. It is very clear, and has a decent set of features.

Cons: It has its drawbacks. While HDMI works, there are times when it refuses to display any HD modes (720p is fully supported by design, and it can do scaled down 1080p). What I mean by this is that every so often while using my PS3 on this monitor, it simply will not display anything other than 480p mode. When I asked HP's tech support about it, they had no answer and treated me as if I was not a technically inclined individual. They wanted to say it was my [new] PS3 that had the problem. Factory reset didn't fix the issue, but physically unplugging it and plugging it back in did. Thanks HP for your wonderful support.

Furthermore, if you use Linux (at least with Fedora 8/9), you can forget about accessing your text consoles. The monitor decides it's not receiving a signal and goes to sleep. Which is odd considering that it properly displays the text during the initial boot process before the switch to the graphical boot loader.

Other Thoughts: If you don't need HD resolutions via HDMI on a regular basis, then this monitor should be fine. I never had a problem with the standard VGA connection other than the text console sleep thing I mentioned in "Cons". It has a very bright and clear screen. But if you're looking to connect your PS3, Xbox 360, or other HDMI device, keep the monitor in a position where it will be easy for you to unplug it to do a true reset if and when you can no longer access the HD modes.

Rating + 5 Looks fantastic!

Pros: This was a free deal with a combo deal on a refurbished HP Desktop. SO for the price, my gosh I should not even complain! To tell you the truth, I am so very happy I bought this. It looks fantastic! This was an upgrade from my 10 year old CRT that was state of the art in its haydays. HDMI is a super plus. XBOX 360 and PS3 look great.

Cons: Sound is weak to me. It works but sounds like a tin can. If your serious, you will have external speakers anyways for the surround sound and sub-woofer effects.

Other Thoughts: This thing is wicked adjustable. If you small or tall this will adjust to a comfortable level to see. Rotation feature is nice, but I do not think I will use it much if at all.

Pros: Very sharp, bright and clear. I even like the "HP My Display" that comes with it. Easy to change the screen potion to whatever you need.

Cons: Speekers are weak...

Other Thoughts: I use this monitor for over 8 hours a day, for web viewing, spreadsheets, Lotus Notes, and using it as a mainframe emulator. I use this as my main monitor and my laptop and my secondary. I thought that the reflectiveness would be a drawback but it has been a plus.

Pros: This thing is spectacular. It's only the 3rd LCD I've had but it is a lot clearer than any of the others. I replaced a Samsung 941bw with the w2207h and it's unbelievable how much better this monitor looks. The colors are much more vibrant and it's bright without washing out. Rating + 5 Best Choice In Quality For Now & Future

Pros: 102% in quality, value and technology for current to future adaptability/interfacing. No dead pixels, even with a 3rd party 5 color phase test. First, the shipping container system is far better than an other brand of wide screen monitors. 2ndly, this w2207h HP wide screen is a hefty 8+ pounds heavier than the other brands and for good reasons. The -5 to +25 degree tilt/height/rotating swivel base is very well built/sturdy and yet has a sleek and large foot print that offers a tray for a keyboard, etc. This monitor takes up less desk top than our 17" or 19" flat screens all the while being a super 22" high definition screen...(and with 2 extra USB ports at the left rear!) The entire experience from set-up to configure to use is as intuitive as a Bose product. Quite simply, outstanding design and superior quality thru-out. The TFT screen is sheer delight on the eyes and has you from awestruck to spoiled in days to come. ~A MUST HAVE FOR VISION IMPARED USERS~

Cons: NO CONS what so ever. The support site is user friendly, free and seems HP cannot try hard enough to try and please you their new customer. The quality fit and finish in any and all directions is note worthy. No details were over looked, even the on button atop the screen is perfection. Easy to see away from the desk and while sitting yet not 'in your face' as all the other brands are. The OSD is intuitive, highly variable and simple to use.

Other Thoughts: This w2207h model is HDMI and for good reason!!! The HDMI is BACKWARDS COMPATABLE FOR DVI and VGA. Do NOT follow the ignorant ''high'' techno geeks ideas this HDMI will not work with DVI and/or VGA and get left behind in a couple of years!! You will need to purchase here at Newegg a $10.00+ HDMI to DVI cable adapter to then simply plug and play for your DVI imputs, etc. Even VGA is a simple no fuss and does well for much higher resolution, clarity and helps greatly for poor vision users. ~*As of 2008, over 200 brands in Audio/Video digital electronics have moved to HDMI and by 2010 over 1000 will have gone to HDMI.*~ BLUE RAY is fast taking over DVD and with this HP w2077h you will be up to date and not left behind wanting newer technology to play the superior 100% digital BlueRay,etc. Please be wise and think ahead, research so to spend your hard earned money wisely for now & the near future! THIS IS THE BEST VALUE and the quality far surpasses the price range here at Newegg!

Rating + 5 Phenomenal color

Pros: This monitor ranks extremely accurate for color as measured with an Eye one via eye one match software. Overall dE2000 on the monitor validator was 1.23. This rivals my other Eizo monitor that costs 3x the amount of $$$. Very impressive, the gloss finish also helps with the dmax of the black. Plus rotation and has 2 ports for usb on the left side and HDMI.
Buy this one instead of the others, you won't be sorry.

Cons: First one received was defective, looked as if the case somehow pinched the bottom of the screen resulting in two halves of a concentric ring across the bottom third of the screen. It was replaced with a fresh one that is really a stunner.

Pros: Excellent display quality, everything looks great. The base is quite solid and very adaptable, much better than the norm at this price. On-screen controls are simple and easy to use. Nice, sleek looks. No visible ghosting in games, no dead pixels.

Cons: I wanted DVI input, so I got the w2207 from a local store. New Egg should really carry both, this is a great buy. No manual, but not really needed.

Other Thoughts: Who knew HP could make a good monitor? I checked out all the major brands online and in the stores, and was surprised to find the HP top of the class. The big names are going with exaggerated stats, hype, and bling. This one flies under the radar - no advertising, even the box looks dull. But the IT guy got one for our office manager, and once I saw it, I was like, wow! That's the one to get! It may not be marketed for gamers, but it outperforms the ones that are. Well worth the slightly higher price.

Unfortunately I have some issues... 2 stuck pixels right in the middle of the display... one red and one green. I am going to return it. If you want an easy way to test out your LCD search for "ekim lcd test" on google. It's a nice free program that just displays solid colors so you can easily see stuck pixels. Rating + 5 HP w22007h Rocks

Pros: This monitor is just amazing 22" with HDMI input the screen rotates I mean that’s so sweet, excellent color super bright screen that does not hurt my eyes, came with built in speakers usb inputs as well. And when I play most movies with my VLC player it plays it in the clear parts of my background I couldn’t stop changing my background, how sick is that and I haven’t even installed the drivers yet wow.

Cons: Was a bit pricey but who cares. And when I do rotate the screen at times my cables/power cord gets stuck or is not long enough.

Other Thoughts: After going to my friend house and realizing my monitor was out of date and being a huge Samsung fan with their excellent TV’s I thought it will be only right to buy their new touch of color T220 series monitor. I was truly disappointed and almost destroyed my eyes in the process. I did not know what monitor to get or to even have faith in new monitors anymore. This HP w2207h gave me that faith back and more to trust in new technology and different ways of doing things. HP rocks!

Rating + 5 Looks like a Plasma!

Pros: I didn't buy this monitor on this site because I wanted to see them in person and compare them with the other brands. The only monitor that compared was a Gateway and even that came up short and was more expensive. This monitor is so amazing that it looks like a plasma screen. If you don't believe me then take a trip to Best Buy and compare them for yourself. Buying it here will save you $50 to $75 though.

Cons: The speakers are not worth hooking up unless you have no other option. I'm sure your not buying this monitor for the sound system though.

Other Thoughts: I seen that one person had posted a bad review on this monitor. You can't make everyone happy! This person said the backlight was bad and the colors were not constant. Maybe they just got a bad monitor because I see none of that on mine. The picture is perfect in every way. Trust me you'll love this if your looking to buy a new 22" monitor. If you want bigger they make this in a 24" also.

Rating + 5 The Best 22"

Pros: I looked at a pretty much every 22" I could at the local stores, and without a doubt this is the best one. The shiny coat makes an unbelievable vibrant picture.
In addition to the incredible image, the stand and USB ports were definitely strong selling points for me.

Cons: Well it is a TN panel, which has some weakness, but I really didn't notice as much as the crazy videophiles claimed I would.

Other Thoughts: Yes this a little more expensive than the cheaper panels, but is definitely worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again!

Rating + 5 HP w2207h

Pros: The base is strong and the picture quality is great.Awesome for text and photos.I have shop around for a long time researching everything to death. It came down to Samsung,Viewsonic and this one.Looking at these monitors in person is what sold me on the HP.

Cons: The speakers are ok. The specs that are listed are wrong. On the HP site,it list the pixel pitch at .252. Here it list as .282. Also list the contrast ratio wrong as well. The contrast should read up to 2000:1 and the Dynamic contrast ratio of 3000:1

Other Thoughts: Do your homework before you buy.You won't reget it.As far as I can tell, the HP w2207 has the same pitch rate as the HP w2207h. This monitor is just great in my opinion.

Pros: Amazing picture quality, very attractive cabinet, very nicely adjustable stand, glossy screen, sturdy construction.

Cons: Stand doesn't completly fold down for trasportation, could have used touch sensitive buttons like on the 24" Gateway. 1:1 Pixel mapping would also be nice.

Other Thoughts: I have the older version that had the DVI instead of an HDMI, both would have been nice. Incase anyone was wondering, this monitor DOES have the shiny coating like on laptop screens that makes it look like a plasma.

Rating + 5 Beautiful monitor!

Pros: This monitor is great! I shopped around quite a bit before i bought and really could not find better than this. The glossy finish is great for watching movies! The stand allows for just about unlimited configurations. I run this off of my laptop and it sits right on the bass allowing a clean look. The crisp picture and transverse viewing is amazing for photo editing. I have previously had issues with HP products but this monitor just entirely redeemed the name for me.

Cons: The only con i can think of is the fact the speakers leave alot to be desired, but I honestly didn't expect much as the speakers are INSIDE the body of the monitor.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking to upgrade from a smaller size or a CRT you will be blown away by the quality of this monitor.

Pros: HDMI, amazing picture quality, HUGE, widescreen-flips between landscape and portrait

this thing is amazing... simply breathtaking. It was well worth what I payed for it, and if I could do it again, I would be buying this monitor HANDS DOWN.

Definately recommended!

Cons: know your connectors! check what you need before buying.
but thats only if you nitpick, because I personally only need my hdmi and I am set.

I guess it isnt free, neither...

Other Thoughts: HP makes amazing monitors... this one blows that statement waaaay out of proportion!

Rating + 4 Great picture - Unacceptable audio

Pros: Brilliant picture. Responsive. Great contrast. Video software is useful but not required. Great control over all aspects of video. Love everything video about this monitor. Buy for the video, not the audio. Worth the $$ for the video alone.

Cons: Unacceptably weak and tinny audio. Audio is such poor quality as to be almost unusable for daily use. Certainly unacceptable for games and video. Tried another of the same model because I was sure I had an audio defect. Am now using a stand alone set of cheap ($10) powered speakers which work great. Disappointed.

Rating + 5 So good it can't be HP

Pros: strong base, very low backlight bleed, great picture, low cost, extremely bright. Have read some whine about distortion across the screen when head on viewing, which is just wrong. nicely deep blacks, and usb hub works amazingly well with no observable transfer slowdown. utterly surprised across the board
Very fast resolution auto adjust (using vista), and nicely hidden buttons and

Cons: software: do not install. won't try auto adjust for screen rotation for this reason. no minuses for the monitor itself, just pray you arent the unlucky one to have to deal with HP "help". Also not using software wasn't an issue at all, rotation of screen still works but may scatter your icons is all.

Other Thoughts: Well i always remembered that HP can have amazing hardware with unbelieveably terrible software. Same case here. dont let the HP throw you off on this one....
I went with the dvi model, as hdmi is bunk for me (w2207 not w2207h)

Rating + 5 This is the best 22" made

Pros: Best picture quality you can get for movies + games! The stand alone is worth $50. Verticle or horizontal view angles. Bright view technology makes picture quality on a scale from 1-10 an 11. You can't simply look at specs alone by that I mean a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 5ms seem like mediocre specs but when you see it in real life its clearly amazing picture. Bottom line is this monitor has the best picture quality and is most well built monitor on todays 22" market.

Cons: w2207h has no DVI (w2207 does), if you are in a situation with lots of backlight the screen is so glossy it shows reflections.

Rating + 5 Great monitor!

Pros: Great monitor, crystal clear, sharp and bright. I caught some flak from people for buying an HP monitor, but they have been silenced by how great this is. It is competitive in its pricing too. I love the swivel feature, as a programmer, being able to see that much code at once makes my life easier! I also love its sleek and compact design for its size!

Cons: I have had to do some pixel massages to release some stuck pixels, not a big deal though. Design wise, be sure to give the cables slack if you plan to swivel it, or else you will unplug them, once again, not a big deal.

Pros: Shazam! This thing is amazing! First of all the price/value was a great deal. This monitor has amazing color and an excellent resolution. If you're concerned about gaming on this monitor you have no worries. I just ran UT3 and it looked crystal clear and proved responsive during the fast paced FPS. Also the stand is an awesome feature!

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: If you have a bright area behind you then this monitor might be hard to view. Windows directly behind you would most likely be the only problem, other than that the glossy finish is amazing!

Rating + 4 w2207

Pros: Beautiful appearance. Awesome for text and photos. Much better stand than most in this price class. Portrait rotation (for the few who care about that).

Cons: People who don't need HDMI should try to buy the w2207 (with DVI instead) from a vendor who still has them in stock (they are apparently discontinued from HP). The w2007 in about $100 cheaper in some cases for the same monitor with DVI instead of HDMI (both have VGA connectors). Also, as another review indicated, the color calibration seems to change a lot as the monitor warms up and colors may vary somewhat at different screen positions (average users wouldn't notice the latter unless they were looking for it). The small built in speakers, which are not visible from the viewing position, are, not surprisingly, of limited quality. The HP-Display software that comes with the monitor stopped working for me after I upgraded to a newer Nvidia driver (even after uninstalling and reinstalling HP-Display).

Other Thoughts: I tried the Microsoft cleartype option and it was a disaster with this monitor. Make sure to turn it off if you buy this.

Pros: The finish on this beaut is amazing, crystal clear screen with a superb glossy finish. Excellent response time for phenomenal gaming (btw anything under 8ms is fine). The 22" size seems perfect for most any environment and I'm tempted to buy another to run dual screens replacing my current 19 sony cuz its being put to shame sitting next to it

Cons: like rater below, prone to fingerprints, so try not touching the screen, also screens with this type of finish are not good for everyone, if for instance you decide to put this in a room with a lot of sunlight, windows etc..reflections can prove to be one of its downfalls

Other Thoughts: Slighty more expensive, but well with the price

Cons: It does have problems with figerprints and stuff seems to stick to the screen and i find my slef using my hands to get it off witch leaves figerprints.hahah

Rating + 5 Great monitor

Pros: The glossy finish looks professional and awesome. The images and texts are clear and sharp. I got this monitor because it had an HDMI input which I can adapt with my XPS m1530 laptop and PS3. My desktop has an nVidia video card with dual DVI-D output so I got an adapter.. DVI-D to HDMI for cheap and it's worth it. Love the swiveling feature and the stand feels solid. Love the height and slanting adjustment also.

Cons: None so far. As far as problems with fingerprints, once it's set you don't really have to touch it much and with it's glossy finish it wipes off easily using a microfiber cloth.

Other Thoughts: I have a 19inch 4:3 Westinghouse LCD monitor and it developed a strange grayish streak in the background so I decided to upgrade. I was looking at Samsung, LG, Acer, Dell and HP came out on top. Though other monitors had matte like screens the colors didn't "popped" at ya. Price wise it was just right. The 24 inchers were way overpriced.

Rating + 2 OK for Word, bad for Photoshop

Pros: Big, vertical position, good matrix.

Cons: Very bad backlight design.

Other Thoughts: I was disappointed... Even if I will not pay attention to backlight leakage from the top and bottom - the Spyder2Pro color calibrator screams "STAY AWAY of this monitor". The colors are not constant, the color temperature is different all over the screen. The luminance of different areas of the screen sometimes floats +/-6cd. It is impossible to use this monitor for color-critical work. First you have to turn power saving off, because even after 15 mins with backlight off you have to wait more than 40 min to return to "almost calibrated" condition. You will never get constant colors suitable for pro digital photo or design.

Rating + 5 w2207. Great Monitor!

Pros: Just to it out, I got the w2207 version of this monitor. Instead of an HDMI connection it has a DVI connection. As far as I can tell there is little else differentiating the two. It has an extremely nice height, swivel, tilt, and portait adjusting stand. Much better than those static stands that come with the budget monitors. The glossy finish on the monitor might not be for everyone (especially those in very brightly sunlit rooms). However for me it's amazing. After some tweaking the colors really pop. Runs great in all my games, and coming from a 17" LCD the real estate increase is quite amazing. No dead pixels. Bought it at an incredible price. Great menu options and I really like the "Keep Aspect Ratio" option. 2 Port USB hub...didn't try the integrated speakers.

Cons: The viewing angles aren't the best, but what do you expect from a TN panel? It sure is better than most other 22" LCDs I've seen. There is some backlight bleed along the top and bottom edges, however this is pretty minor and I only notice on pure black screens when I look for it. It's kind of annoying to get to the connectors on the back...I'm just nit picking now...

Other Thoughts: Bottom line is I feel like this was an incredible purchase and I would 100% buy another for myself, friends, family, the bum on the subway if he had a computer. Alas but I am not made of money...However this is a great monitor that I am very pleased with.

Pros: Just a gorgeous display. Seems to have as good, or better, picture quality than monitors with better specs. Styling of the monitor is nice-- it doesn't look cheap. This really made a nice final addition to an entertainment PC.

Cons: Screen and shiny black plastic enclosure are a magnet for fingerprints. Also, the base of the monitor is pretty big and takes up a lot of space compared to other 22" widescreen monitors, so while this is a great looking monitor, if space is a concern you'd do well to look at other brands that are almost as good but have a more space-efficient base on their monitors. Glossy finish on screen does cause problems with glare, so be careful where you place it.

Other Thoughts: As far as the base goes, this monitor is VESA compliant, so you can use a VESA compliant wall mount and mount it on a wall, thus eliminating the annoyance of the overly large base. Also, if you're buying this monitor for home entertainment then you won't be using the integrated speakers, but they're there if you absolutely need them. Last, the brightness (300 candelas per square metre) is REALLY bright. This thing lights up a room at max brightness. I have no need for it to be this bright, no one probably ever will, but the brightness is fully adjustable and, just so you know, 300cd/m^2 is bright enough that you could see the picture even if the monitor were in direct sunlight. Overall a great product. Was definitely worth the money.

Pros: Ok, I have been a gamer for years. My current game of choice is the FPS game Call of Duty 4. So, it was time to upgrade my monitor from a nice fast CRT to a pretty LCD with motion blur.

I am very picky about things technical related and have had the toughest time trying to game on an LCD in the past since I have been playing PC Games on a CRT for about 9 years. However, with new games and new LCD's I decided it was time to take the plunge even though they are still mostly 60hz TN Panels for consumer monitors on the market.

So, I look and look and look and look. (yes, I do a lot of research when it comes to computer equipment. After being in IT for over 10 years, I have learned to find out EVERYTHING to make the most informed decision). Finally after much research it came down to a Samsung 2ms display (maybe a 226BW S panel or a 2253BW) and this monitor.

First off, lets get this straight. ANY of the current LCD monitors have motion blur. Some people who dont know what

Cons: A little extra bright (even at level 60) but I use it for gaming and its perfect for that.

Pros: I ended up with one of these in my office at work. I have never seen a picture as nice as this one. No dead pixels and the glossy screen is the way to go.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I recently purchased an Acer that had a 2500 to 1 contrast ratio. It was also a 22" and top rated. I have to say although the Acer is good quality and a better price over this HP, if I had it to do over again I would buy this one. The only reason I did not was the 2500 to 1 ratio. It makes little if any difference and this screen has one heck of a picture.

Pros: I was looking for a second monitor to match with my work laptop and to run at the same time. This gets the grand prize. I always have four or more applications open at once some of them windows some of them mainframe and they all live happy together now. No dead anything out of the box. Shinny screen is not distracting while working... if your not working you can use it as a mirror to see who is watching too. I may even use it some in the vertical position.

Cons: Speakers should not be put on any monitor.

Other Thoughts: I thought about the 24 inch of this same modal but I would have seen a lot of wasted space with the kind of work I am doing.

Pros: Sharp, clean text rendering. Response time is good enough for gaming. Color reproduction is excellent. 90* rotation feature. USB ports on side of panel. Backlight bleed is on-par with good panels. Stand is very nice and is great for adjusting panel height/tilt.

Cons: There is backlight bleed, but it's comparable to that of other quality TN panels on the market. There are 2ms panels on the market, and this is a 5ms. The 2ms panels though should be taken with a grain of salt as 2ms isn't a solid number. Some panels are actually 3 or 4ms, though they claim 2ms. That being the case, the 5ms is not so bad a number.

Other Thoughts: I was arguing with myself for weeks over the Samsung 226BW and CW. I've read countless reviews, posts and articles detailing the different panel brands Samsung was building into their panels. I went so far as to buy/exchange several 226BWs with a local brick 'n' mortar. In the end, I returned the Samsung and spent a few more days researching. Finally I came to the w2207h. The 90* rotation feature may seem gimicky but it's actually very nice for the graphic designers amongst you. Sometimes it's nice to portrait align the Wacom and portrait align the monitor and have a nice huge vertical space to work on. As for the 5ms response time and gaming, I played some COD4 earlier on it and I really couldn't see any issue. I was nailing my shots just as I did on my CRT. The USB ports on the side come in handy for connecting the Tablet/USB Key. If you can't afford an 8 bit panel, this might be for you!

Rating + 5 Excellent display that allows non-stretching of 4:3 games

Pros: I was debating between the Samsung 226BW and the HP w2207h. After viewing the HP in a local store I went with it strictkly because of the depth of color and contrast as opposed to the Samsung and I am very happy with the purchase.

* Glossy screen makes colors pop.
* Text is crisp and clear.
* 2 port USB hub accessible on the left side of the monitor is a nice plus for quickly plugging in a thumb drive.
* No ghosting in games.
* Ability to display 4:3 content in native aspect ratio instead of "stretched 16:10" is a great feature (and must-have in my book).

Cons: * At first I was disappointed with games that do not support playing in widescreen 16:10 aspect ratio - they appeared stretched and looked funny but then I found a setting in the monitor that allows playing these games in their native resolution without stretching. I would highly recommend that you go into the monitor's menu then navigate to: Image Control>Custom Scaling>Fill to Aspect Ratio instead of "Fill to Screen". After making this change 4:3 games will play in their native resolution and black bars appear to the left and right of the image; I think this is much preferable to a 4:3 image stretched to 16:10.
* 1680x1050 max/native resolution is still a bit tight when trying to view a banking website and personal finance program at the same time side by side. I debated about returning it and saving for a monitor that has a bigger native screen resolution, you might consider this in your purchase.
* The speakers stink; plug in a decent set of speakers instead.

Other Thoughts: * Overall it is a wonderful monitor; if the native resolution is enough for you I don't see how you can go wrong.
* I haven't tried a DVI to HDMI cable yet, right now I'm using the VGA input and everything works great.
* I haven't yet tried the monitor rotation, seems like a gimmick.

Pros: Although I was dubious about buying an "HP" monitor, this one was the best and I had to bow-down to that no matter what the brand name says. The high-gloss improves the look so much. I've noticed no dead pixels and no ghosting at all. Gaming is excellent. If you were thinking of a lower priced monitor, do yourself a favor and pay 25% more to get a 100% better monitor.

Cons: slight light bleeding at the top and bottom edges, though it's not really noticable. Even if you're watching a moving with black bars they are still black, not gray. All LCD's have this.

Other Thoughts: I first saw the monitor here on newegg, but ended up buying it at circuit city for forty dollars less. Best Buy carries it also.

Pros: Extremely bright, NO GHOSTING, super clear images, amazing color. This was my first LCD monitor, even though it costed me a bundle. I seriously do not regret it one bit.

Cons: hmm...I want to say none, but the screen and frame of this monitor gets dust and fingerprints on it like crazy and I have not found the solution to cleaning it very well. Thats being picky though.

Other Thoughts: I paid $380.00 for it at circuit city a while back, seeing it is a bit cheaper on newegg doesn't even bother me. Thats how satisfied I am with this monitor.

By the way, for the best image/color/brightness. Use DVI! VGA just didn't cut it for me.

Pros: Great picture, very nice stand, very solid monitor. Don't use VGA to DVI adapters, as Win won't recogize the monitor or load the proper drivers. Go with a dedicated HDMI-DVI cable, and you're good to go. Great for video, HDTV, and anything else you can throw at it.

Cons: 90-degree rotation feature doesn't seem to work. Supplied HP software is a little sketchy.

Other Thoughts: How often am I going to rotate my monitor? Probably never, but it would be a cool feature if it worked. Other than that, a beautiful monitor.
