Rating + 5 Awesome Monitor

Pros: Clear and bright, no dead pixels
I bought this when It was on sell w/ free shipping so it
is/was cheaper then any 25+ that I have seen.
Web cam is clear as well

Cons: People are complaining about the speakers.....
yes, they do suck but their 3watt... get over it

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 17" 4:3. This is huge. Like others have said, make sure you have the desk space to set it up. enjoy

Pros: Looks great.
Vast improvement over my gateway 24 inch.

Cons: Horrible stand.

Other Thoughts: Black line appeared at lower portion of the screen. Monitor will be sent in for RMA. I am upset because I need my monitor for business. Unlike EVGA, Newegg does not provide cross shipment after approval of an RMA.

Rating + 5 Excellent Monitor!! Great Value!!!

Pros: Let's see...
- 25.5"
-1920x1200
-No Dead Pixel
-Great Web Cam (2.0MP Crystal Clear)
-Great Color
-The Price

What more can you ask for a monitor? I couldn't be happier with this purchase...I am upgrading from Samsung 2232GW...as a die hard Samsung fan (all my TVs and LCDs are from Samsung)...I was looking for a Samsung LCD before...I then purchased the new LED XL2370 which I since returned (the picture is great, I just want higher resolution and bigger estate)...this monitor has it all...the color is very comparable to the XL2370 except the contrast (well...given XL2370 is LED based so it is expected)...but value of this LCD is much better....

Cons: The only I absolutely hate is the internal speakers...do not buy this monitor just because you want an internal speakers...they are next to useless...
However, I won't take an egg because of that...since I am purchasing a monitor...who will expect good internal speakers...probably no one.

Other Thoughts: I just wish there is a 25+ inch, 1920x1200 LED-based monitor with great styling...
This monitor is huge so make sure you have enough desk space...well...VESA-mount capable probably helps....

Oh right...Newegg, as always, is THE BEST!!!! Order today and arrive the next day...with FREE SHIPPING...I love living CLOSE to California..

Rating + 4 Fantastic monitor for the price

Pros: Huge. Fast response time. No dead pixels. Works perfectly. Lots of input options. Great to have my PC and xbox hooked up to this beast. And of course the price is outstanding.

Cons: Color out of the box is horrible IMO. Very blue among other problems. This is the only reason why it loses an egg. Don't let this deter you from purchase. A little calibration and this is all corrected.

Other Thoughts: Big Thanks to MinuteMan! His color profile is just about perfect!. Search for that review and follow his steps you wont be disappointed!

Rating + 4 Nice product!

Pros: Extremely nice picture and no dead pixels! This is everything you want from a monitor. I play WoW and this monitor has performed very well. The colors needed a little tweaking out of the box and brightness was set too high, but after this was done it looked perfect!

Cons: I currently run Windows Vista 32 and I am unable to find a driver that allows the built-in web cam to work. I would have spent $30 less by buying the model that doesn't include a web cam. I've searched the asus site among many others to no avail. The included software is not compatible. When I try loading the program it says it has stopped responding and immediately closes.

Other Thoughts: The lack of support for the web cam is enough to take one egg off. The monitor and it's performance has exceeded my expectations visually, but the nonworking web cam part frustrates me. Is it that difficult to develop a working driver for something you sell?

Rating + 4 I had it for a year now, Only a few complaints

Pros: Big screen, great web cam, asus splendid is great, hdmi, component options, and has both vga and dvi. The color saturation is very good, 2ms responce time, and vesa wall mount compatable.

Cons: When I try to turn off the monitor, when the yellow light is on, I have to press the power button about seven or eight times for it to turn it off. But it powers on the first time you press the button. Not a reason to rma the monitor but it makes me wonder is it supposed to do that. One other thing they could have made the hight adjustable on the stand, which is ok at best. last the speakers are in the back of the monitor and so is the sound, not good. I only took off one egg for the power button issue, for everything else, the good out weighs the bad.

Other Thoughts: The reason I turn off the monitor is because where i live the power to my home isn't stable. So rather than risk something happening to my equipment when i am not home or asleep, i turn everything off.

Pros: Excellent product! I ordered this and couldn't believe the bargain. I was switching over from a 32'' Elements LCD, but the resolution was terrible, like a magnifying glass! 1366 x 768...I can't believe what a difference this monitor is! The DVI is very impressive. Everything is so sharp! I did try to run the software disc, but everything kept saying that it only is meant for Asus computers...that's fine, though, because all you have to do is put the usb connection in and open an app that can use a cam or a capture device and you're good to go. The cam is pretty clear, too. I didn't buy the monitor for that or the speakers, but it seems to be a nice extra bonus! Thanks Asus and Newegg!

Cons: None yet...

Other Thoughts: I like the buttons in the front. They make it easier to get the settings just right...and there are tons of options for different color configurations, too!

Rating + 5 All I can say is "Wow"

Pros: Bright. Clear. Big. Plenty of Inputs. Nice buttons on FRONT of monitor for menus. Easy to switch among inputs. NO dead pixels after 7 months of use. Decent speaker volume and sound.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I own 3 LCD monitors, and this one easily blows my Gateway and ViewSonic away. Contrast ratio is stunning. Speakers more than adequate for quiet office settings, but probably not loud enough in noisy situations. No problems with the webcam software in Windows Vista x64. I also own the same version of this monitor without the webcam and am equally impressed by it.

Buy this monitor! You won't be sorry.

Rating + 4 Big, but terrible viewing angle

Pros: It's big, and loaded with inputs. Color is decent, and is great for games. Webcam is typical webcam quality. Speakers are on the top, so they don't add to the bezel size, and aren't terrible -- they are fine for YouTube videos, but not much else.

Cons: Atrocious viewing angle. If you display one color on the screen, you cannot view it from anywhere such that the color is uniform across the entire screen. Contrast shifts dramatically if I move my head just an inch or two, requiring constant adjustment of the monitor angle during movies or games.

Aspect ratio control doesn't seem to remember the settings properly. I set the HDMI input to 1:1 aspect ratio for my Xbox 360 so that the image is properly displayed. Switching over to Wii over Component, I will always have to go back and change to Stretch mode (which makes the Wii's 16:9 image -> 16:10). I have to reset this every time.

SPDIF port doesn't output the Dolby Digital track from my Xbox over HDMI. It decodes to stereo first, and passes that along.

Other Thoughts: My first one had totally messed up analog signal processing. HDMI and DVI sources were fine, but VGA and Component in were unusable due to artifacts. Newegg replaced it, and the new one works fine.

The viewing angle really makes me wish I had saved for an IPS panel.

A USB hub would have been a nice addition, since this already has USB running to it for the Webcam.

Rating + 5 Absolutely Outstanding!

Pros: - 25.5" with a 2ms response time
- Excellent brightness
- High-level of menu options
- High-end webcam
- Awesome design
- Great for Photoshop and Gaming

Cons: - Asus has no driver for this monitor. They claim it's not necessary because the monitor is completely plug and play. My question is, why do all other monitor manufacturers have drivers for their monitors then? Seems to run okay with the default plug-n-play driver by MS.

Other Thoughts: If you want this monitor to look good you need to color calibrate it. I have taken the liberty of calibrating this monitor professionally using the Spyder II Pro. I have listed the color profile (.inf), profile loader program and RGB slider settings on my site Trick Master PC.

Rating + 5 Excellent monitor

Pros: Good design and build quality for price. Easy setup. I ordered VK266H (no web cam) so no need to install software. No need to download drivers. Best when run at native resolution 1920x1200. Still good at lower resolutions with older graphics card. Mine is perfect with no defects at all.

Cons: None.

Rating + 5 Absolutely Superb

Pros: This monitor really is the best in the price range. 25.5 inch, with all the inputs you will need for all your devices. Most monitors do not come with hdmi and dvi and vga and component and spdif out, but this one does. Also has VESA.

The webcam is pretty good, and it swivels. For those complaining about the software, no one has asked you to use it exclusively, it works perfect with all video chat softwares.

The splendid video modes work tremendously well, you can use the standard mode to adjust the brightness and contrast etc to your liking for most of your use, and with just the touch of a button change the mode to theater, gaming, scenery or night view, whatever is your taste. The one button change really is very convenient.

Picture quality over all is very very good, colors have been accurate and crisp. Quality and color is consistent throughout the panel from left to right.

The stand is not bad, it tilts easily when you want it to and is sturdy enough to avoid any acci

Cons: I have not encountered any yet.

Other Thoughts: I like the build on this one, the VESA holes for wall mounting are hidden by a back panel which you can take off with your hands when you want to mount it or work around with the inputs at ease.

Pros: Good monitor, decent webcam

Cons: No microphone in the webcam. It never ocurred to me that it wouldn't have one. Now I have a monitor with webcam but I have to buy a microphone. I think that's just crazy. Why wouldn't they include a microphone? Is one supposed to use sign language when using Skype?

Rating + 1 Sparky 2nd RMA arrived DOA

Pros: It is an amazing monitor when it works. Words just don't describe it.

Cons: After it arrived back from the 2nd RMA DOA. ASUS did not even send an email about anything they found wrong, or that they had even fixed it. Before the 2nd RMA, I talked to a level 2 tech, and he didn't have any idea why it keeps flickering to black then back on. I was upset when i turned it on after the 2nd RMA and all I got was a black screen. I went upstairs and forgot to turn it off, and about 3 hours later went back downstairs and it was on and looking good. That lasted until I started using the computer then the flickering black screen again. I will try 1 more time to see if ASUS will fix it or replace it. If it continues not to work, I guess I will not buy anything else from ASUS.

Other Thoughts: I understand that i might have gotten one of the bad apples of the bunch, but ASUS hasen't even sent me another fixed one, I keep getting the same monitor back with the same serial number. Obviously something more than just the back lamp is out of this one. I will update when I get it back from the 3rd RMA.

Rating + 5 Surprisingly Amazing!

Pros: The PRICE! This is the BEST TN panel LCD monitor I've EVER used. It lives up to many PVA and IPS monitors I've used, except for the pure unique color range. I got this for $270 at the time, and it has an additional $30 MIR, so I wound up getting this for $240!

This screen is huge. I had to clean off most of the stuff off my desk to fit this beast. It is more than worth it though. I have nothing bad to say about this monitor. It has the PERFECT size dimensions for 1920x1200. Pixel size not too small, not too big. I'm VERY happy with the color production and accuracy. I also barely notice any distortion at extreme angles AT ALL, except for maybe at the extreme southern angles. The webcam works on Vista, and has exceptional quality.

I've had this for almost a month now, and no hitches! Mine came with NO dead pixels, and with a BLACK background, I can BARELY notice backlight bleed.

Aesthetically, it is BEAUTIFUL. Sleek AND professional.

I'd buy another, if I had a bigger desk!

Cons: Not really a con, but it takes up more space than I thought it would, but the screen size and resolution is well worth cleaning off my desk!

Other Thoughts: Many people seem to be complaining about three main things: (1) The stand, (2) webcam, and (3) viewing angle/color accuracy.
1. The stand is not the best stand out there, but it is perfectly fine for this monitor. It holds up well, sturdy, and straight. It is also has decent aesthetic value, matching that of the monitor.
2. The webcam works fine for me. The software that came with the monitor didn't work on my system, but it still works fine. I think everyone is just forgetting to plug in the USB cable that comes in the package. Of course the webcam won't work if it's not connected!
3. The viewing angles and color accuracy are more than decent in my opinion. Mine came with only a slight blue-ish tint. I switched modes to standard, and all was fine. NO color tweaking was required. Blacks are black, whites are whites, colors are colors. It doesn't have as many unique colors as non-TN panels, but it is VERY accurate, and the viewing angles are AMAZING. Color distortion is MINIMAL.

Pros: I bought this monitor to install in the back of my semi on wall mount because i had bought a 24" samsung that i didnt check before hand couldnt be wall mounted.. This ASUS is just amazing especially for the price. Great colors, crisp picture amazing refresh rate with no ghosting. I am a gamer its what I do for entertainment while out on the road, also use it to watch movies on. It has alot of connection capability as well. All I can say is it is a GREAT monitor, and I couldnt beat the price that newegg offered either. I was looking at all the local shops back home and at best buys and they couldnt touch new egg. If your thinking of getting a good monitor dont pass this one up.

Cons: Absolutely none. This monitor is great.

Pros: I upgraded from a 18" CRT and will never look back. Nice glossy black finish and matte finish for the screen. The camera has a vertical swivel and is decent for me and its software works with my XP 64-bit OS. Most important of all - no dead pixels!

Cons: None so far.

Rating + 3 Servicable and large

Pros: low cost, very large screen

lots of inputs, including component!

good amount of display options (with one notable omission, see below)

1080p display great for 360

Cons: Wonky colors - all colors on the screen have a very slight blue-ish tint. no amount of tweaking can make it perfect, though it's honestly fine and barely noticable unless you're an artist.

1600 x 1200 confuses the screen - it will refuse to put it in a 4:3 aspect and will always force it to full screen. I found a workaround to get it into 4:3 but it is a complete pain.

WORTHLESS FOR PS3 - if a game does not support 1080p (and most PS3 games dont), your options are to play it in 1:1 display in 720 (meaning 3/4 of the screen will be a black border) or to stretch the 16:9 image across the whole 16:10 display. DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT PLAY A PS3 ON THIS SCREEN. 360 is fine though.

Other Thoughts: I honestly do not understand why there is not a "fit to 16:9" option for display. There is a "fit to 4:3" option available for any 4:3 resolution. The options for fitting on the screen are, fullscreen, 1:1, and 4:3. So if I have a 16:9 resolution that is less than 1080... I can go F myself, according to this monitor. Very disappointing in regards to my PS3, otherwise this isn't a problem.

Pros: The graphic is crisp and beautiful, I bought this baby to play with my PS3, unbelievable, the graphic is crystal clear in 1080p sharp! Don't get fooled by reading other customers bad review, get this baby, its worth every pennies you have.

Cons: If Asus make this monitor to be able receiving tv signal (HDTV) it would be awesome.

Other Thoughts: Nothing.

Rating + 5 Incredible.

Pros: I just got this monitor, and there is absolutely nothing bad to say about it. The controls are simple and easy to navigate, it has TONS of input options, so I can have my computer plugged in with DVI, my 360 going through HDMI, and my Wii going through the component connectors! The image is incredible, and the size is big enough so I can have friends over to game on my systems, but not so big that it overwhelms me. I didn't get a single dead or stuck pixel, which is pretty much luck of the draw, but this monitor is AMAZING. No regrets what so ever about dropping 300 bones on this. I couldn't be happier that I went ahead and took a step up from the 24 inchers.

Cons: I honestly cannot think of anything. I'm picky about my monitors, and for all my gaming needs, this does everything. Sure I wish I could get a LCD monitor with 120hz, but that's just so much more money, and I would be stepping down in size and resolution, so I figured this suited all my greatest needs.

Other Thoughts: I hope this helps you out in your purchase, and I strongly recommend purchasing this if you're in the market for a larger monitor. I'm not an ASUS fanboy, but I sure am impressed with this finely crafted piece of imaging wonder.

Rating + 3 Not good for anything other than computer monitor.

Pros: Decent picture quality. Nice and bright.
Great computer monitor for video editing or gaming.
Webcam is decent quality.

Cons: Horrible GUI. My greatest fear was that I'd get a computer monitor that wouldn't let me pick between 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio while playing games or doing anything through the HDMI or component. My fear came true. I hate this monitor because in order to play 720p games full screen, you HAVE to stretch the image vertically. It looks horrible. The only way to prevent this stretching is to play in this little window at the native resolution. You can only change between 4:3 or 16:10. 16:9 doesn't exist for the people at ASUS.

Other Thoughts: Only 1 dead pixel.
Just because of the one major con above, I'd recommend you NOT buy this monitor. Get another brand monitor if you're buying it for the HDMI or Component.

Pros: Not many pro's other than the price. Having HDMI and component connections is nice.

Cons: Color reproduction is horrible. Having this side by side with a Samsung, you can really see the difference. It can't produce gray very well. All shades of gray tend to look more blue than anything else.

Pros: - Great refresh rate, contrast, color, brightness
- Speakers sound good (for a built in speaker), and work with analog or HDMI sound

- The contrast is the biggest thing for me. Most LCD computer screens don't do black well...just dark gray. This has great blacks.

Cons: - Had one defective pixel on arrival. One pixel out of a couple million isn't a big deal.
- The stand is a fixed height. Would be nice if I could make it a few inches taller. I'm currently using a seperate monitor stand to raise it a few inches.

Pros: All pixels working & accounted for! Great display. Huge! Color was right on the money out the box. I am the envy of my town.

Cons: Contrast a bit bright out the box but not a big deal. I think I will need a bigger desk. Instant savings+rebate=happy pockets.

Other Thoughts: Shipped to me in 3 days (cali to ny).
Built in camera is cool. Not as good as my logitech though.

Cons: Only one hdmi input.

Rating + 5 So far so good

Pros: $299.00 after rebate. Showed up on time looking beautiful, working, no damage (to unit), no dead pixels, functioning web-cam, and the software install was a breeze. Blue Ray looks Awesome. Hawkz makes me dizzy now, and there's a lot of screen to clean (a pro and a con).
Cool.

Cons: None (for the price).

So far I've noticed -
Packaging had bad damage right over the screen. Glad the unit didn't (probably UPS). Slight light leakage at bottom only on black screen. Slight color diff. from one side of screen to the other. Viewing angle could be better. A swivel stand would be nice. Fingerprint magnet. Hawkz makes me dizzy now, and there's a lot of screen to clean (a pro and a con).

Again, nothing I didn't expect for the price, and from the size of the display.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if the speakers suck. I don't (and wouldn't want to) use them. Haven't even tried em out. Using your video card(s) for gaming in 1920x1200 certainly takes more resources. Glad I considered that before buying.

Pros: BIG
Awesome color
Great Resolution
Decent stand and features
Webcam and it moves
cheep for a 25.5 inch
good packing

Cons: Died after 3 days
2 dead pixels when it worked
Defective when it worked
Refresh rate only goes to 60Hz at native and at almost any other res looks bad. Only at 600x800 do you get it at 85Hz.
Very bad ghosting

Other Thoughts: I uploaded a video of the issues i had with the ghosting and refresh rate.
Do not bother with this monitor unless you like RMAs.
Newegg did a awesome job with the RMA for a full refund. This monitor is the 4th defective monitor i have gotten in a row with newegg. The first 3 were the HB243H acer 24 inch and the one in this review. They ended up giving me $100.00 off my next purchase and that ended up getting refunded anyways.

Rating + 4 2nd Try

Pros: Love the size, biggest monitor I'll probably ever need. I love the different modes of video you can chose as presets for viewing. I agree with most that colors sometime wash, but that is expected form the dotpitch of this monitor's size.

Cons: This is my second unit of this model, 1st had issues but Newegg came thru and RMAed me a new monitor. That's why only 4 stars.

Other Thoughts: I would by this monitor again.

Rating + 5 Problems Continued After First RMA

Pros: Still a gorgeous monitor, even when the only light it emits anymore is from the power LED. Easily gets 5 stars for being an aesthetically-pleasing paperweight. I still occasionally have physically-stimulating dreams about sliding my finger around her, pressing confidently into her power button and watching her spring to life. Unfortunately in real life there is nothing I can do to turn her on anymore. Our relationship is dead.

Cons: 2 weeks after receiving my RMA'd monitor from Asus, I began experiencing the exact same problem as before. I'm wondering if any repair work was done at all or if they just used duct tape to reattach internal components. I'm not sure if I even want to RMA it again. I have no desire to throw away another $20 for shipping only to have the monitor fall victim to the same problem days later. Buyer beware, if you end up with a faulty model you may be in for a long battle to actually get them to fix it. For shame Asus, I thought you were better then that. Never again will I buy a monitor from this company.

Other Thoughts: If you experience problems with your monitor you may be better off attempting to repair it yourself. Chances are you won't be able to fix it, but Asus won't be able to either. Who needs a warranty when the warranty repair service is run by pinheads?

Rating + 5 Great!

Pros: VERY LARGE, no dead pixels, HDMI carries audio too, webcam, input selector (handy for xbox), sturdy stand, best monitor spks i've ever heard. color settings! (read other thoughts)

Cons: has two audio ports. one for speakers, that works. The black one, i thought was for a MIC, but once you plug a mono or stereo jack in, the speakers stop working. On closer inspection, i can't find ANY mic on or around the webcam. WHY have a webcam and no mic? AND... what the _ _ _ _ is the black audio port for? The manual says, "audio line in" but doesn't say which one it's talking about, but then why have two inputs, (green & black). I should've bought a monitor without a webcam and bought a webcam that as a mic built in like what my GF has. GRRR!

Other Thoughts: People say it's BLUE and doesn't give options to correct. WRONG, it has an RGB correction, and several preset color settings. I'm not sure what more you could ask for, except that out of the box, it's so SOO blue. Mine looks great now, and i'm a pro photographer. I bought the open box one that was on here, all parts and no dead pixels! what a deal! also make sure you're video card is up to the task. I have a cheap one and it barely plays over the air HD via vista media center. over all i love it. just wish it had a mic, but that was my fault so full eggs.

Rating + 5 Sweet Monitor

Pros: HUGE! Tons of screen real estate. It's a different world using spread sheets, word processing, internet browsing. There's no need to auto hide the task bar or use full screen for web browsing. It's a lot bigger than a 22". With my old LCD monitor, I had to cover the nearby window during the day so I could see the monitor. With this ASUS, no need. Great brightness.

Cons: This is almost too silly to put here, but the light from my office window causes a glare on the glossy black border. There's no glare on the screen...only the border, and it's barely noticeable.

Other Thoughts: Great buy. It has all the inputs and outputs I can envision needing any time soon. Awesome monitor! You will not be disappointed.

Rating + 5 Big and Beautiful

Pros: Bright, sharp and BIG. I have to turn my head to see from one side to the other. Zero dead/frozen pixels. Replaces a 20" 4:3 and there's no comparison.

Ratcheted up to 1920x1200 there's a ton of desktop/application/gaming/etc. space. I finally have found a use for the "Tile Windows Vertically" option in Windows.

Movies and games show no evidence of ghosting. Depending how far away you position the monitor when seated, there's very little of your peripheral vision that's not taken up by the screen, so it can be both cinematic and nasuea inducing. First Person Shooters take a little getting used to and I found myself a little motion sick for about the first 30 minutes of use. I'm over it now, though and just love the ginormous presentation.

Cons: Biggest downside: no height adjustment on the stand. If Newegg did 1/2 stars, it'd get docked for that omission. Seems a silly thing to leave off an otherwise stellar product.

Also, out of the box the picture does look blueish, as others have said. It's fixed by backing off the blue and green in the RGB controls, but it would be nice if the color balance wasn't pegged to 100 in all categories out of the box or if it was factory pre-tuned. Not a biggie.

Other Thoughts: Now that I have one, I want two!

Rating + 1 How Many RMA's?

Pros: Awesome refresh rate, and overall appearance when it works! I had it almost 2 months before the backlight went out, (occasionally blinking to black screen, then finally totally black will not show anything at all!) I have 4 computers in my basement I hooked it up to so it isn't my video card, etc.

Cons: Have had it back almost 2 weeks now and it had blinked for only 3 days and then again the totally black screen.

Other Thoughts: This is the first ASUS product I have had any problems with, and I hope this is just a bad monitor and ASUS will replace it with a new one instead of seeing how many times I have to pay $61.00 in shipping and insurance to keep getting it fixed!

Rating + 5 Satifaction Likely

Pros: I've really been enjoying my new monitor, and am relieved that it turned out to be a good choice so far. I had read several reviews complaining about various aspects of this monitor. I personally don't think most users that would buy this monitor will be concerned with most of the negatives mentioned by others and, actually, I can't even understand why somebody that is looking to do high-detail intensive graphic or photo work would even think they could get that from a $300.00 26" TN panel. Honestly, if your just an enthusiast or regular user this monitor should be just incredible for you. I think most people would be very happy with this unit and thrilled to death every time they come into the room and see this big bad beauty sitting on their desk. I know I am, and it's cool being able to be excited about a purchase several weeks after the fact. I put mine on a monitor arm that I purchased from Newegg at the same time, and as I stated in that review, it very much rocks in my opinion

Cons: There are of course the typical unfortunate aspects of the TN panel, such as light bleed on a totally black screen, and some noticeable weakness in other areas like the color isn't consistent throughout the screen, but that's not even nearly as big an issue as it sounds. I just mention it because others have and when I got mine I looked and could see what they were talking about. This is not for graphics professionals. For everyone else however, this is a pretty sweet deal for the money.

Other Thoughts: The overall experience is vastly upgraded with the addition of a monitor arm, so that is a highly suggested option. I bought mine at the same time, and have left a review on that page too. Enjoy, and hope you have good luck with yours, like I did. At least there's a pretty strong three year warranty if anything goes wrong.

Rating + 5 Excellent Customer Service for a Beautiful Monitor

Pros: This monitor is absolutely gorgeous, I could never go back to anything smaller again. Not a single stray pixel on the whole display, which was my main worry when buying an open-box. This beast has a plethora of inputs, I'm taking it to my dorm next term instead of my TV.

Also, a huge A+ to Asus technical support to fixing my dinged, open-box, discount monitor. Buying open-box saved me about 30% off the new price.

Cons: Webcam is a bit gimmicky, but I suppose it's convenient having one built-in. I suppose the speakers are pretty bad, but I don't know of many monitors that come with a good set. If you even happen to need some warranty repair on your monitor expect to spend a bit of time searching the website, but once I was able to contact them about an RMA the process was extremely quick and painless (see below for more details).

Other Thoughts: I got this beauty as an open-box item on newegg. Unit arrived with all accessories and in perfect working condition (despite a small amount of damage to the plastic shell). After about a month the picture started to cut out intermittently, but was resurrected with a small jostle to the table. Eventually the monitor failed completely. It still was able to be powered on but no picture was ever displayed, not even the splash logo. I assume this was the reason for the item being returned, or the result of shipping damage (given some physical damage). I emailed Asus requesting an RMA, and received a reply the next business day granting an RMA. After shipping the package I received the same unit, repaired, 7 days later. I'm exceedingly impressed by the response and repair time by Asus. Despite all the Engrish, they do a great job.

Rating + 5 Great Buy!!!

Pros: Price
Size
Built in speakers
Web Cam

Cons: Nothing outstanding

Other Thoughts: For the price this is a great monitor. A few people have been complaining about colors. I say for a $330 dollar monitor the colors are magnificent. If your doing mostly graphics stuff or something that requires very accurate colors then your not going to be buying a $330 dollar monitor anyways. For the size, extras, price, and the ability to please the average user, this is the monitor to get.

Rating + 1 Update: Horrific Color

Pros: There are many pros here but see the Cons. Speakers are usable, cam is wonderful image, lots of inputs, huge screen, relatively sharp. Stable on the desktop. If it was not for the con, this monitor would be a steal of a deal and a keeper.

Cons: After using this monitor for a month, I've come to realize the color issues is HUGE. At first, the monitor looks great, and most of these people using the monitor aren't using it side by side with their old monitor. I was confused when I put in a hex color code of EFEFEF and it looked more blue than gray. Using the two monitors (an HP) side by side with a 2 monitor setup, it was clear that the VKH is WAY off. There is no way you can compensate for the color problem and a few other users noted this. I didn't understand how bad the problem was until I used the monitor for a few weeks. There is no gray. This monitor simply adds some type of extra color vibrance to the screen. Additionally, the color is noticeably lighter to the sides than the middle.

Other Thoughts: Other than for gaming, don't ever think of using this to gage what something will look like on an average monitor. If you use Photoshop or any image/picture editing, even for your camera, you're in big trouble with this monitor. From what I understand, Asus does not acknowledge that the monitor is defective but I can tell you that the few other reviews here and the NUMEROUS that say it's a little "blue" are right on the money. Why the one egg rating? Because the color is so off that it is completely unsuable alone and I MUST have a second monitor around. We'll see what Asus has to say about it but I'll bet there is no way they will accept it as defective.

Rating + 5 Nice!

Pros: This is an amazing monitor! The webcam isn't bad when I use it. The resolution is great for anything I need it for... PS3 games and Blu-Ray, as well as normal cable through HDMI and RGB inputs.

Cons: The speakers could be better, but sound pretty good overall... but they could use to be better and have a crisper sound... that's why I'll stick to desktop speakers and a sub, or my system set up through an optical audio cable to my stereo.

Other Thoughts: All in all, this is a great monitor... the base swivels VERY easily, I taped mine down so it doesn't move when I move wires around... but it's great for anything you can throw at it.
I would definitely buy another, or if they come out with another, I would definitely buy it.
You! BUY THIS! If you don't have the funds, check out the other 25.5" without the camera... It's all good.

Pros: Great for still pictures (photographs). Good for video games. But looses it on some maps.

Cons: Movies are not as crisp as compared to viewing on other monitors. Viewing TV through a USB pvr was terrible! I could only watch for a short time then would have to look away.

Other Thoughts: This monitor is made in China and shows its weakness when the picture is moving.(ie videos or TV). If you are not on a budget you might consider an upgrade. I tried all the settings from low to high. I even copied some online settings. This monitor is hard on the eyes. I ended up buying a Samsung!

Pros: Great monitor. Amazing for games. I"m using the DVI connection and havn't had any problems with signal detection or picture refresh. The 2 MS time is wonderful. I'm runnning this monitor at it's Native resolution and everything looks beautiful.

Cons: Takes up alot of space. This is just do to my setup though. My current desk does not fit 26". I knew this before buying though. It's alittle thicker then I had thought also but still pretty slim. Make sure you have enough room for the vents to be open it seems to put off alot of heat.

Rating + 5 Love it!

Pros: Purchased to replace an old 15 inch CRT monitor. I have not regretted it - took me a while to get used to the huge increase in size. Has VGA, component, DVI and HDMI inputs. Looks good even using the VGA input but looks really great using HDMI. The web cam seems to work well, though I have only done a few tests with it. No dead or stuck pixels - in perfect working order on arrival. Movies look good. I have not tried any games on it yet but I would imagine those would look good too if using DVI or HDMI.

Cons: Not a true con but it would be nice if it came with a remote or the ability to change settings via the PC (point and click with a mouse).

Other Thoughts: My wife thinks it's an over kill, but I love it.

Rating + 2 Can't Color correct - Don't try to save a few bucks and go get yourself an Ultra Sharp from Dell

Pros: Its large, and it would make a fine TV for someone who has a bright room.

Cons: If you do any sort of design, layout or video editing and you need close to acurate color and contrast, you need to stay away from this LCD. I used an "Eye-One" color calabrator on it, you can't get it anywhere close to correct. The black levels are way off, and white levels are ether washed out (when the brightness is turned up) or the white levels have a green tent when you have the brightness down to about 50% (where I typically have my LCD's set).

Other Thoughts: I've always been a fan of Dell's UltraSharp line, I have a 25" UltraSharp from them right now, its great. It was about $120 more than the cost of this screen but, for me its worth it because it can hold a color (unlike this display). If your at all needing to see actual color representation, I would avoid this screen like the plague. I'm going to try to craigslist this one (newegg won't take it back) and I'm going to go back to Dell and pick up another UltraSharp display.

Its possible that this might make an alright LCD TV for someone if they hooked it up with the HDMI or the composit, but, if your watching anything in widescreen, you'll notice right off that the black bars on the top and bottom are bleeding light like no other.... looks like an old CRT TV from the 80's.

Rating + 4 Great with limitations

Pros: Excellent value, huge screen, reasonably well built. Webcam is a plus and I had zero problems using it with every messenger program I have. Stand is reasonably sturdy, stays still on my desk, many inputs, speakers work reasonably well for the purpose intended, nice brightness, reasonably good color display.
Doesn't take up much extra space with a nice, small frame. Found the controls easy to use even though it takes some maneuvering - no big deal, too many are whining about something you'll rarely need to adjust.
Having the extra resolution is excellent and the response time has been just fine.Oddly enough I now prefer this to my gorgeous glossy although I won't give that one up because it is far better for color display.

Cons: I noticed that others were correct here about this absolutely not to be used to do any kind of graphics work. There is an uneven display of color - noticeably lighter to the middle. It won't ruin general usage but I noticed it when I was just viewing a simple page that had a plain beige graphic. It was darker on the sides than in the middle and moving the window to each side changed the color noticeably.
There is no microphone for the webcam, a rather inane decision. I would have expected it to be built in with the webcam some how, or as just a mere passthrough to the microphone input if not standard with the USB connection for the webcam. Small but noticeable omission.
Cables provided are thin and cheaper although they DO provide you with all the cables you need and they should work just fine.

Other Thoughts: I got mine at a special price, ridiculously low. At the price it's at right now with the rebate, it's a bargain. I don't like the technology behind these new monitors but it seems to work just fine. For these prices, they are a steal and go out and enjoy. I wouldn't ever think of getting a monitor bigger than this one as it loses practical value.

Pros: When I pulled this out of the box I almost thought it wouldn't fix in the cubby in my desk but it was perfect. I've had no problems with it and it works right out of the box. I can hook up my Xbox 360 and play in 1080p. There are still extra inputs if I want to connect an HD cable box or Blu-Disc player too! The speaker are rather powerful for a LCD monitor.

The webcam feature is really cool and it even has a security camera feature that can record even with the monitor off since the USB connection is independent of the monitor's power supply.

Cons: This isn't really a con per se, but the speaker project sound behind the monitor so quite speech can mean it's a little harder to hear, but with the volume half way it is fine.

Other Thoughts: The only thing stopping me from buying a second one is that I don't have room on my desk for 2!!

Pros: Large screen, very bright colors when working

Cons: Colors totally washed out on this new LCD out of the box when using the HDMI connection. Component and DVI connections worked fine. USB driver for web cam did not install on my computer, causing error messages each time I boot up. Asus tech support did not want to troubleshoot the problem. Since this model may not work with my NVIDIA Geoforce 8500 video card, I am very disappoined in Neweggg's no return policy for LCDs. I thought that this only applied to bad pixels.

Pros: Large monitor
Great Price
Very Light

Cons: Wish the camera had a cover of some sort
Wish you had more adjustments for the monitor, but my dell monitor I had you could adjust it every which way and I never really used them.

Other Thoughts: I think the monitor is fine, the color is fine, the cables are fine, its light and easy to move and all at a great price for the size of the screen and specs. I went from a 20.1 inch Dell Ultra Sharp that I paid $725 for when LCD first started taking off and this looks just as good if not better. Great for playing games on, I have been playing Call of Duty: World at War, ARMA, GTA IV and so far its fast and the color is great. I can't notice anything wrong.

Rating + 5 Want big? This is big.

Pros: Mine has a great picture using the dvi input, not quite right with vga. No dead pixels, so bright I had to lower it a lot. Didn't get it for tv, but plugged it into a blu-ray player using hdmi and it had a really good picture.

Cons: The stand is just lightweight plastic, seems cheap, but - it's sturdy enough, not tippy, and easy to move around. My HP 22" feels anchored to the desktop. I don't care about webcams, but tried to install the software in XP and can't get it to work. Do some research if you want the webcam; I didn't bother. With my current system (Sapphire/ATI card with vga and dvi out) I get a poor vga image, but will be updating the system soon and will just get a video card with dual dvi outputs. When I switch the outputs so the Asus is on dvi, the image is perfect. And yes, then the HP doesn't look so good. :)

Other Thoughts: I'm using it as #2 monitor with Win XP, and it gives me all the video realestate I need. #1 is an HP 22" pivot in vertical mode - this makes an awesome internet combo. I almost got a different 24" monitor because of some of the reviews on this, but I'm glad I got this one.

Pros: Huge - I use a Dell 24 inch daily at work, and this feels MUCH larger - more than I would have expected.
Great viewing angles - I know it is a TN panel, but I have no problem with viewing angles at my desk, even if I stand up and move around the room.
Zero dead pixels that I can tell... very pleased.

Cons: I could complain that it wasn't free, but I still think it was a great value, one of the best I've seen in a long, long time.

Other Thoughts: HD video is beautiful on this screen. Plenty of inputs, VGA is not *quite* ask crisp as DVI, but you have to be paying attention to notice the difference.

For those who can't tell what good quality is, feel free to purchase this monitor. For those who can, keep looking because this monitor is not it!

Other Thoughts: Save your money, buy this when it's about half the price.... like 150-200 level, then it's worth the horrible quality picture.
As for me, I am on the prowl for something much better

Rating + 5 Outstanding monitor

Pros: Big. Cheap. Beautiful.

Not a single dead pixel on this, and after using it for a few months, I can say Asus was on their game this time. Colors are clean and crisp, the response time is excellent, and even in direct sunlight it remains bright enough to view easily (actually, I had to turn the brightness down to 50% when I got it because it was hurting my eyes).

Plus, this thing has more inputs than I know what to do with and the menu system is fairly intuitive.

Cons: The built-in speakers suck, mostly because they are positioned to reflect sound off the wall or desk behind the monitor instead of projecting it at you. Seriously, though, why would you use built-in speakers?

Rating + 5 VK266H

Pros: plenty of real estate space, camera, and speakers for a price of 329.00 shipped. DVD movie play back is vivid, and a nice appearance. This is huge compared to my Acer X233H. No dead pixels what so ever.

Cons: none so far....I ordered from another etailer, and it took 8 days to recieve it. Settings need to be adjusted for brightness, but who cares every thing needs a little adjusting to suit ones personal taste.

Other Thoughts: I know this isn't the sharpest monitor with a .28 pitch other higher costing monitors are about .26-.27 dot pitch, however you get what you pay for and to compare a great budget priced monitor to those is rediculous. I have yet to rate the camera, and speakers because to me so far they are a bonus. About 9 years ago I bought a Samsung 19" CRT for 300.00 this has more land scape for about the same price. 13 years ago I bought a Compaq 15" monitor for 350.00. This is a great unit fore what you pay for it period. Some of the reviews are just unwarranted. For the people doing high end grapics work expecting more.....get a grip and stop griping over a greatly priced lower end TN unit. lol The drama of me waiting for this toy from another site has taught me that 20.00 saved for eight days of waiting puts Neweggs shipping way ahead of the competition. Newegger for life....... I have learned the err of my ways and will never stray again.

Don't be afraid to BUY this unit.

Rating + 5 Top Shelf Monitor - Bargain Price

Pros: The picture quality is superb. I've been shopping around for some time, and found other monitors of this quality priced twice as much. Asus has always provided me with quality motherboards and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this monitor. Not a single dead pixel. Ran tests with DisplayMate and Dead Pixel Tester and all ran smooth.

The webcam is an added bonus. The 2 mega pixel camera is good for recording or Skyping. The camera was discovered on both my XP and Vista machines. The camera also has a tilt adjustment, so it is not fixed to the monitor like some are. This wasn't shown well in the pictures provided and I found that as an added bonus.

The speakers are decent for built-in speakers. I'll stick with my 5.1 setup, but they would do fine for an office setting to save a little more desk space and another power outlet.

The input options are insane. I have everything but my toaster plugged into this thing.

Cons: As others have mentioned, there isn't any height adjustment with the stand. The tilt adjustment will suffice, but it would have been nice to have the option.

Other Thoughts: The software provided for the webcam is mainly adding color overlays or funky filters to your video. If that doesn't interest you, don't waste your time installing the software.

I could have knocked an egg off for the monitor stand, but I felt it unfair to take away what this review should be judging, the monitor's performance. Movies and games look fantastic. I've even been going back and playing some golden oldies, and with the help of widescreengamingforum.com, seeing them in a beautiful wider perspective.

You really get a great monitor for this price. If you aren't in need of a webcam, and the other Asus models are of this quality, than I'm sure those would be an excellent choice as well.

This is the best LCD I've purchased. Great looking display without the headaches of dead pixels and replacement policies. NewEgg delivery rocked as always.

Rating + 3 NO REFUNDS

Pros: - Price (packaging and bezel feel cheap too, but that's fine)
- Fast response time
- Good VGA output to 1920x1200
- As I understand it, one of the better TN-panel LCDs (viewing angle, color)
- 25.5" gives you decent font sizes for Windows regular font settings
- Lots of inputs (composite, component, DVI, VGA, HDMI)
- Low power relative to most or all other 25.5" IPS/MVA panels
- Two family members who have upgraded from an 18" CRT and 19" TN panel both love the VW266H (same panel)
- Three year warranty

Cons: - *NO REFUNDS* (like all other newegg.com LCDs)
- Still can't compare to an MVA or IPS panel, specifically:
- Colors and contrast washed out, blue tinge
- Moving your head just a inch down will change the contrast of text at the top of the screen (e.g., you may have a lot of browser links in tabs at the top of your screen)
- ... which all make my eyes tired very quickly and the LCD unusable to me
- Only 1 DVI output (like most LCDs) -- would be nice to have two
- No height adjustment
- See negative reviews for quality control issues

Other Thoughts: The reason you can get such a great price is that there is a **NO REFUND** policy for newegg.com LCDs in general (not just this one). I thought it was "no exchanges unless you have 8 dead pixels" -- but there is NO REFUND even if the panel has 0 dead pixels (exchanges only for defects or >= 8 dead pixels).

I've been using 19" LCDs with IPS and MVA panels for years. These have excellent viewing angles (178/178) and good color reproduction, are decent for games (even FPSs), so I'm already used to them. Maybe that's why I get tired so fast with this TN panel. IPS/MVA panels are $$$, so I'll just hang onto my old 19", which I use in portrait mode (and I didn't really need the extra 1920x1200 desktop anyway -- I found myself staring at the left side of the screen all the time, since the right side was frequently empty reading e-mail or browsing a web page).

Final tip: If you are using the VGA output, fill up your screen with mostly text, and then auto-calibrate.

Rating + 3 awesome video , webcam is useless witht the non functioning software

Pros: awesome screen very vivid , great for gaming not a huger glossy perimeter todistract you.several inputs on it making it very versitile on how you feed it video, for a monitor ..top notch

Cons: the webcam software does not work, i think its made for asus laptops, when started an error screen pops up and states "for use with asus laptops only. considering its not a laptop i don't see how asus can market this software with the monitor. i have had the software for almost 3 months and i still have no solution form thier customer service or a new updated driver. basically they have don't nothing to allow the full functionality of the monitor.

Other Thoughts: get the cheaper version without the camera and save a couple bucks. or buy a stand alone camera with all the money you save.

Pros: size

to some extent price

Cons: picture quality is just okay, compared to my 2 year old westing house generic best buy this Asus fails in comparison.

Other Thoughts: I'm very disapointed in both the monitor and in New Egg for this purchase.

I regularly use Newegg customer reviews to guage if I should buy something or not. Well, when I first wrote a review on this monitor newegg sent me a message basically indicating they wouldn't post my review. Let's see if this one makes it.

In a nut shell my faith in the user reviews is shaken and I regret purchasing this monitor.

Rating + 5 Amazing monitor!

Pros: Excellent picture! I picked this up on sale for an excellent price; and could not be happier. For the same price or less than an LCD TV with half the resolution, I got a superb LCD screen for my XBOX 360 and Core 2 Quad rig. Makes my 22" look small. Excellent image quality, best I have ever seen on any LCD, even 2k+ Sony Bravias.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Speakers are adequate, better than many monitors. Black levels are amazing, especially in "Theater Mode". Little to no backlight bleed, webcam works great with WDDM Drivers in Windows 7.

Pros: Large display with good resolution. Pretty bright. UVC web cam - plug&play with Mac and Windows. HDMI and composite input. Inexpensive compared to others.

Cons: No height or tilt adjustment. It sits pretty low and I have to buy a stand.
No microphone. When you do skype video, you really want both.
Color cast to blue, very blue.

Other Thoughts: With prominent HDMI log on front, it's more like TV than monitor.

Pros: Best price I coudl find on any 25.5" LCD.
HDMI so one cable for audio and video.

Cons: Audio is sub par...but I know that going in.

Other Thoughts: Since is has USB into the LCD for the camera it would be nice if it had a built in USB hub. I have my "noisy" computer in the basement and a USB hub would allow me to connect a KB and mouse directly to the LCD without an extra hub!

Rating + 5 Freakin' awesome.

Pros: Supports every kind of connector you could ask for. Great picture- better color than the 17" Samsung I was using. I got it for $300 after rebate on 04/19/09. 25" widescreen for $300 with free shipping = amazing deal! I victory-dance'd for an entire day when it arrived.

Predefined color templates in the menu are nice. They give you a quick way to see what kind of color/brightness/contrast combos look good.

Cons: The built-in webcam drivers don't work for 64-bit Windows XP, and the built-in speakers are pretty bad (even to my untrained ear). But, hey, it's all built-in freebies. You should be buying this beast for the incredible price, picture, size etc; not for the webcam and speakers.

The menu is a little weak; seems like it's missing a feature or two. Namely the ability to shift the picture around on the monitor. I haven't needed to tweak that at all yet, on Windows or under Ubuntu 8.10, but if the day comes when I really do need to shift the picture I won't be able to do so.

Other Thoughts: Works flawlessly with my dual monitor setup powered by a GeForce 7600 GT. I run Maya on this big beast and run photoshop/gimp on the smaller 17" monitor that I have. I was scared to death that it would arrive with dead pixels (7 pixels being my darkest nightmare since that's just under the return threshold), but UPS delivered it three days after ordering in mint condition. I've been running it for a few days now to be sure it's in good shape, and it is. I couldn't be happier.

Rating + 5 Awesome picture!

Pros: Not a single bad pixel! Amazing picture quality and colors, lightning fast compared to my old 5ms LCD, I just love how my games look on this monitor! I'm using the HDMI connector and it works flawlessly with my GTX285 at 1920x1200.

Cons: As others stated, picture is a little too bright out of the box, but you can adjust it easily to your liking...

Other Thoughts: I'm just amazed at how detailed everything looks now in games Crysis: Warhead, Fallout 3, Age of Conan and other games, my video card was a waste on my old 19" LCD, playing at 1920x1200 with max details enabled on all games is just pure bliss, even the wife is amazed by the picture quality, and anxious to get her hands on the Sims 3, LOL! As always, Newegg delivered on time!

Pros: Great picture, webcam is a nice addition, works great.

Cons: Would have saved an extra $40 if I waited a week to buy it.

Other Thoughts: When I received my monitor I had no dead pixels which was nice, however, there's one stuck pixel that's almost impossible to notice unless you look for it (I found it while using a dead pixel checker)
Hopefully it will fix itself sooner or later. Either way, it's a great monitor.

Rating + 3 Thank newegg for free shipping

Pros: Lovely sized screen, for the whole day that it worked it seems nice.
Nice to have HDMI.

Cons: The side-seam of the panel was bulging on one side as if it has been squeezed, top had paper nipped between the seam.
Worked for a day then just died, the power LED flashes blue (and the screen subtly flashes in unison).
Didnt like the back lip that covered the back ports, made it sort of akward to access them as you have to turn it upside down or hold it high to get things in there and actually be able to see.

Other Thoughts: Would have been nice to have a quicker way to raise/lower the monitors speakers. Not sure about the webcam it seems sort of pointless, if your spending $350 on a monitor chances are you are going to be able to afford a $50 (or cheaper) webcam that is far superior to the inbuilt one.
Speakers are around the quality of 10dolla ones.
I may try this monitor again after I send the current one back.

Rating + 2 Extremely Poor Performance

Pros: very large and beautifully colored screen, with sharp precision images, in other words no fuzziness of edges. all colors appear as they should in proper hue, and high contrasting colors such as white and black edges appear sharp without bleeding into one another.

overall nearly a perfect picture, and nice features such as the camera. and would have been well worth the money at 369 dollars.

i tested it hooking it up to my xbox 360 through the HDMI port and it appeared to perform flawlessly, or if it didnt, i simply did not notice.

Cons: when tested on the standard VGA port a red hue was painted across the entire screen no matter the color being projected. no calibration of any kind could adjust it to fix it. in my opinion, the vga port simply is not an option for this unit, however its ok as an auxiliary port in case you dont have dvi, but if u only have vga you will be disappointed. however because i have access to both dvi and hdmi it is not a major contributing factor in my egg rating.

when hooked up to the dvi, the picture itself is flawless, its when rendering video, and more noticeably at full screen, that a very annoying flicker can be seen as the response time is obviously NOT 2 ms. it clips badly, especially when switching from cut scene to cut scene, and when resizing windows. now i am open to the notion that its my graphics card not able to render the video, except i lowered the resolution and i have an nvidia 7900. if ASUS wants to exchange it and try another unit i would consider changing my rating.

Other Thoughts: i am an A+ certified technician with several years experience in the professional field and a hobby enthusiast with performance PC gaming and video. Im not being biased because i bought something i didnt know what i was getting or didn't know how to use, or simply thought i was getting more than i was. Im writing this review and giving it the rating i am because i am concerned with other people and helping them make a fair purchasing decision.

im my opinion the response time performance is a huge part of the value of the product, and after having seen video reviews boasting of that very point and how it was so good for this unit. it was one of the main purchasing points for this item. and when a game or video flickers, you simply notice and its very annoying, make that extremely when it happens. perhaps its just a poorly performing video processor in the unit...i have tested this on 2 systems besides the xbox so i am ruling out it being the graphics card.

Rating + 4 Worth the money

Pros: I save everyone and not beat the technical details to death, I think they're been covered. This is a good mopnitor, and well worth the $320 with the rebate, maybe not the +$400, but worth the $320. Looks nice, and its a big monitor.

Cons: I have this monitor sitting next to a Dell SP2309W, so, it can't compete.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a cost effective 25"+ monitor, then you can't go wrong here. If you're looking for the best picture ever, can spend some extra cash, and can live with a 23", look at Dell or Samsung's QWXGA.

Rating + 5 Excellent, All rounded Monitor

Pros: Same as other reviewers here: excellent picture...
Bigger than my 24" asus monitor that I bought last year. (Even though it's only 1.5" larger)
Also, Images are more refined. No bleeding, great contrast. Movies, and games look supurb.

Cons: Not as colorfully vivid as my 24" asus. but that can somewhat be fixed in the color settings.
Unfortunately, after only about one month of use and carefully transporting it less than a mile away to my friend's house only five times, the backlight went dead.
So, I called up asus, got an rma, and the're sending it back, fixed as I write this. \ (Fast and painless, by the way with asus's excellent default repair service)

Other Thoughts: Even though the 24" version is great for extra vivid colors in games, it is also almost a year old model, (compared to this ((being only about 2-3 month old))
also heavier (although being smaller), And could be considered the prototype to this model.
Personally this one the ASUS VK266H 25.5). -An all rounded monitor.
Did I forget to add that it also has component and quickly goes through different input selections?
Stunning picture

Pros: This is a great monitor, looks amazing and is huge. Now i'm running dual monitors with this and a 24" benq. They run the same 1920x1200 res, and quality is about equal on both. The difference is they cost about the same, and this one is both bigger and has a built in webcam.

Cons: the cd it came with for the webcam stuff was cracked, but it was very simple to just go to the asus site and DL it there instead. Webcam works great.

Other Thoughts: At first i forgot to plug in the usb for webcam and got frustrated that it wasn't working. haha

Rating + 3 What's with the blue?

Pros: -Very crisp, good picture
-Size
-Input/Output options

Cons: -What is with this blue tint in the upper left corner?
-Software won't install on my Vista 32 bit machine and insta-crashes (even downloaded).
-How can I make this brighter?

Other Thoughts: I really miss my Gateway 22". The picture was noticeably brighter and more even than this. I like the size upgrade, but what is with this blue tint? The upper left hand corner of my monitor is much darker and much bluer than the rest. The upper right, lower right and lower left are all how it should be, but it's really disappointing overall.

I like the monitor, and I'm trying to play through the pain, but is it possible to RMA for this type of issue? It's just not the way it should be.

Rating + 5 A Thing of Beauty

Pros: Easy Menus. High Contrast. Really good viewing angle. HD 1080 i/p. High resolution has built in speakers and video web cam. Sleek Shine to the plastic finish. Light wight compared to my old 20 inch Samsung monitor the 204B series Tilt adjustment on both the monitor and the camera.

Cons: No height adjustment.

Other Thoughts: I Highly recommend this monitor to gamers. Good Refresh rate. The pixel fill is 2ms which is really worth it. No Ghosting. No screen Tearing. Unlike my old one which was marketed at 5ms. Kinda find that hard to believe. Anyways. Good for gaming. Blu Ray movies or standard DVD movies. Pretty good sound from the speakers.. Still trying to figure out where they are located on the monitor. That still remains a mystery. Software is just like the Asus Laptops "LifeFrame". Works really good with Yahoo and MSN messengers. I haven't tried it out on others. Again. Worth the buy. It is about 200 dollars cheaper then my Samsung monitor I bought 4 years ago. works better and looks better. I Guess LCD Tech has gotten way more advanced since 4-5 years ago. I just can't wrap my head around the clarity and pristine picture this monitor produces

Pros: No regrets buying this monitor! Awesome color. Screen is super clear, 1080p video and pictures look stunning. Beautiful monitor for the price. No dead/stuck pixels. Can't take my eyes off this beauty!

Cons: None atm. Color is in fact very bright like others have mentioned, but I tweaked it to perfection. It is in fact, just a lot of light to be looking at at the computer desk!

Other Thoughts: Beautiful monitor for the price. Upgraded from my 22" widescreen, and it makes that one look like a baby compared to this. I'm playing wow in 1920x1200 and it looks absolutely amazing on this screen. "It's like a video game movie that I'm able to control" is how I described it to a friend on this screen.

Pros: It supports HDMI for my PS3, and DVI + VGA for my laptop. The screen is bright and the massive resolution is awesome. The webcam is clear and worked right away with MSN.

Cons: Occasionally, I notice a shimmering/fuzzy effect with certain colors. There's not an Auto button or OSD menu item that I've seen to automatically correct this, but it's not really a bother; I hardly notice it. Also, the built-in speakers didn't sound good at all. Monitor does seem kinda cheap.

Other Thoughts: For the features, you can't go wrong... Although some may prefer a remote control.

Rating + 5 Spleasantly Surprised and Amazed!

Pros: The brightness is adjustable! It was very bright out of the box, but very easy to adjust.
The LCDs menu has been criticized by alot of reviewers, but I found it to be very easy to navigate.
I had no dead or stuck pixels with mine, so that is appreciated greatly!
The colours are bright and rich. I, unlike many of the other buyers of this unit, did not have to spend more than a few minutes setting this LCD up to my liking.

There has been alot of negativity revolving around the built in camera. I have nothing but good things to say about it. It installed in Win7 as soon as I plugged it in, and worked with skype and Win messenger. Picture was excellent! Oh, and this is super cool....I plugged it into my hackintosh, (10.5.6) and opened photobooth a couple ticks later, and voila, it worked perfectly! UVC cam guys!

Cons: I really haven't found anything I can complain about. Considering that the brightness issue is easily rectified, that isn't really a con.

I thought of a con..... I don't have the diñero for another one of these for my hackintosh!

Other Thoughts: If you are a super high fidelity freak, (visually speaking that is) you might see this as an inferior monitor. But then you will probably skip to the professional monitors right off the bat, and not bother looking at lower cost TN film based panels anyway.
But for the rest of us, it really is worth every penny, as long as you get one that is as good as the one I was lucky enough to receive!

Enjoy!

Rating + 2 Poor Uniformity

Pros: Large screen size
Plenty of inputs
Decent built in web cam
Fair price

Cons: I always purchased ASUS products for their features and high build quality, and that's why I'm sorely disappointed with this monitor. The upper left hand side of the screen is very dark with a somewhat bluish tint to it as opposed to the lower left corner which is overly bright and washed out. While this isn't very noticeable while playing games, it drives me nuts when I'm typing papers or reading text with a uniform background. Though it pains me to get rid of a brand new monitor, I may end up replacing this screen with a monitor from a reputable brand with more experience in the display buisness.

Other Thoughts: Nice features
Poor quality

Rating + 4 Wow

Pros: There are SO many 'thats what she said' jokes to go with this monitor. It's got an amazing amount of real estate for the dollars spent!

I'm literally stunned at the size difference, coming up from a 22" display.

Colors are very good, response is very good. Everything is very good. Very little tweaking was necessary post install.

Cons: The little plastic covering that protects/advertises the swivel webcam nearly fell off when I removed the cellophane shipping plastic from it. Managed to get that off without pulling the whole thing off tho. A dab of superglue will address the problem for good (but really, do we have to put glue on expensive things??).

I can't seem to figure out how to access the camera WITHOUT using the stupid included LifeFrame software.. Proprietary software bums me out. I'm trying to figure out how to let sites like a Facebook have access to the asus web cam like any other web cam would just work.

Other Thoughts: First ever failure on Newegg shipping (for me)! Paid 2day on a Tuesday, didn't receive till following Monday, boooo. Ah well- no harm done.

Rating + 3 ok when it worked

Pros: huge screen, cheap, no dead pixels, overall a great LCD for the price

Cons: cheap,
backlight went out a little after a week of use. RMA'ed to newegg.. waiting for replacement now

Other Thoughts: a little too big for PC gaming IMO unless you can sit way back from it. i had to push it to the rear of my desk but still felt too close.

Rating + 1 Webcam Driver Problem!

Pros: Nice large display

Cons: Webcam driver crashes my computer! No microphone.

Other Thoughts: I chose this brand/model because of the webcam. Now I regret my choice because I have to keep the webcam unplugged to prevent it from crashing my computer. It crashed Windows several times, each time the reason was the USB driver for the cam. The 24" version of this monitor is great - this one is aweful!

Rating + 5 Great Picture

Pros: Unbelievable composite HDTV. Lots of resolutions to choose from. Backlight was normal very little bleeding around the edges only noticable in a dark room. No dead pixels. Adjustable screen edges (slightly oversized picture) for digital problems on certain TV stations, helped alot.

Cons: The controls take a little time to get use to especially the volume.
Sound is a little weak but ok.
Colors schemes need a little work (I leave it in normal modes) and it can be very bright.

Other Thoughts: Never used the camera yet.
Been using it as an HDTV with a cable DVR and it works great, having a hard time getting it back into my computer room.
