Pros: Looks good when it (briefly) works

Cons: Monitory started the flickering with grey bars within days of initial use. Dead withing a week. Paid $25 to ship it to Asus and THEY DID NOTHING. It was returned in the exact dead condition I sent it. Completely disgusting customer service.

Other Thoughts: This was my 5th Asus product including a laptop. It will be my last Asus product.

Pros: -Very vibrant colors and bright contrast
-Versatile color settings
-Looks great with any input.

No dead pixels for me. Games and bluRay are stunning.

Cons: -VERY small bleeding. 1/4" white lines on all sides. Only noticeable on black backgrounds
-Built-in speakers are trash. Just get external speakers.
-VGA/DVI can looks a littttle blurry at times, but, honestly, nothing to complain about.

Other Thoughts: Great investment. Had it since Christmas 09'. I've have no problems.

Pros: Great Monitor, have owned it for more than a year. Haven't gotten any flickering lines across my screen, but I am using the HDMI hook up. Great picture, just need to adjust the settings.

Cons: Was on sale. Buttons on display can be tricky, and hard to push in sometimes.

Pros: Wonderful contrast, nigh impossible to notice back light bleed. Sweet resolution to size. 16:9 for watching those 1080p Blu-Rays.

Cons: None, other then the SLIGHT back light bleed, that is only visible in a pitch black room. But this is to be expected with inexpensive LCD panels.

Other Thoughts: I have it set to "movies" setting.

Seems to be the sweet spot for contrast/color/brightness.

The controls are super fine tune, I am sure with a proper understanding of temp/color/contrast/gamut/ect. you could tune this to near life colors.

Rating + 1 Don't ignore the bad reviews


Pros: Was on sale.

Cons: As many others have stated it is just a matter of time before this monitor goes bad. After just five months of ownership it started to flicker on and off from black screen to grayish screen with white lines. There is no picture and yes it is definitely the monitor. This monitor does the same flickering on both of my PCs while another monitor I have that is several years old works perfectly well on both of them. This issue occurred rather randomly. Like I say it worked perfectly well for 5 months then suddenly with no changes to the PC or anything else it starts the flickering and that is the end of it.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this. At the rate that these things fail and the commonality to how they fail it is amazing that ASUS has not done a recall on these. BIG WASTE OF MONEY!

Pros: -HUGE
-Very nice looking
-Easy to hook up, atleast to me
-HDMI
-Nice resolution and looks nice with HD
-Awesome for playing games, looks truly amazing
-GREAT price for what it is
-I ordered 3 day shipping and it came in in about 3 1/2 days, so it only took half a day to process

Cons: -You gotta change the settings around a bit, and it's confusing at first, but now I'm used to it. Read below below the settings you need to use.

Menu 1 ("Splendid")
-set to STANDARD MODE
Menu 2 ("Image")
-set Brightness to 50 (Important!)
-set Contrast to around 80
-set Sharpness to 27 (Very Important!)

-set Color Temp to "Normal" (or else pure white will look light light tan)

Rating + 5 Awesome Monitor


Pros: The monitor is plain sweet! I have my mac book pro hooked via DVI and my XBox360 via HDMI to play Halo 3. I bought this mainly so I could design websites in Photoshop better with the higher resolution and it is great. The HD quality on the Xbox is really amazing too. Switching between each device is very simple. Currently I'm using the monitor's speakers for playing xbox360 and it is clear and loud, some posts will say the speakers are junk, they aren't the greatest, but they're definitely better than regular laptop speakers for sure.

Cons: None thus far (5 months...)

Pros: Clear, Simple, Cheap, No DeadPixels, Movies clear. Good viewing angles.

Cons: Does't swivel left to right so I have to slide the monitor around. Not a big deal.

Had to set the scaling on the graphics card so it used the entire monitor when using 1080p. Not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Great for reading. Words are larger and easier to read. Also, I love having hulu or netflix on the corner so I can watch tv while reading.

Running on Ubuntu x64 Server, Core i7, 6GB RAM, Radeon 5770.

Pros: Very nice monitor so far no issues hook up and 1080 right off the bat. My 17" mag LCD can now "Rest in Peace"

Cons: The speakers - lets put it this way my son sent in cereal box tops for a free hot wheels radio headset thing... well the quality of this freebee is better then the speakers on the montiter

Other Thoughts: Not sure why such cheap speakers... it could be the big sell point on these things. pretty much all manufactures buy the panels to make these things from the same places.

Pros: The picture is perfect on the sRGB video setting. The HDMI works, I tested it with a BluRay player with a DVD in it. It even properly demuxed the digital audio.

Cons: The default image setting has bad white levels, and makes everything look too bright, and text hard to read.

Pros: Excellent picture, lightweight, visually pleasing even when off, easy to remove base, buttons in the front.

Cons: Large, doesn't come with an HDMI cable, hasn't offered to make me a sandwich yet...

Other Thoughts: I picked this up open box from Newegg for a nice price. Came with all cables, only thing missing was a little rubber nub from one of the wall mount holes in the back. No dead pixels. I've hooked this up to my PS3, gaming pc, and netbook and has functioned flawlessly with each. Another beautiful product from Asus.

Rating + 5 Absolutely beautiful


Pros: My favorite things about this monitor so far is the auto adjust. Maybe I've just been living in the dark ages, but this thing changes to fit the three different computers I've hooked it up to like an absolute champ.

Besides that, I'll have to echo the good reviews that everyone else has given...great product.

Cons: I only have two issues with this monitor, number one ( this may be user error) when i try to play a bluray through the my PS3 through the HDMI a message comes up that says "out of range". I'll have to research this.

Second, and this is nit picking, but i found 2 dead pixels around the edge of the display. not anything major but something I thought people may way to note.

Other Thoughts: All in all I'm pleased with Asus and Newegg. Ordered it on Wednesday around noon and got it on Thursday...keep up the good work.

Pros: Bright and large display.

Colours can be adjusted to be satisfactory.

No dead pixels, 'stuck-on' pixels, or other problems.

No ghosting.

The cost for what you get is very good. Overall, the monitor is quite satisfactory.

Cons: The colours are a -little- strange in some ways. The overall balance of the colours can be configured to look fairly good, but they still come off somewhat strange.

The speakers are pretty pathetic. At the highest volume, they're about at a sufficient listening volume. But, who on earth buys a monitor for the speakers? Just don't count on them for anything more than the most basic listening volume.

Other Thoughts: Good number of input jacks, and comes with all the cables except for HDMI. The layout of the buttons when browsing the menus are indeed a little strange, but I found it to not be overly cumbersome.

Shipping was surprisingly fast, and the packaging good.

Rating + 5 Monitor Stand comes apart easily for VESA wall mount


Pros: Still loving this monitor!

Cons: Getting a little nervous about some of the posts where people have had to RMA it back after it failed after just a month or two of use. So far the monitor has been absolutely rock solid, only time will tell.

Other Thoughts: Just a comment in response to another reviewer who posted on 01/08/2010 "If you want to mount this monitor, it takes immense effort to remove the attached piece meant to fit into the stand. There are 3 phillip head screws that holds it on the monitor, but are blocked from being unscrewed. I had to take a pair of pliers and slowly rotate each screw from the side to remove all of them. Took perhaps a total of 20 minutes."

I purchased a wall mount with this monitor and removing the desk stand is easy. The back cover of the desk stand has a slotted tab on each side of it, I just stuck a regular screwdriver into a tab and applied a little pressure and the cover pops right off. Then you have full access to use a screwdriver to remove the three philips screws that hold the stand bracket in place. Once that is off it is a snap to put the VESA wall mount bracket on and then attach it to the wall. This process was covered in Section 2.1 of the user manual.

Rating + 1 Don't buy this monitor!!!


Pros: ASUS tricked me with a big monitor with a small price tag.

Cons: I've had this monitor for a while. It is my third one. My first one died after a month (black screen and flickering). My second one was the first one repaired and days after receiving it died again (same problem). After talking with ASUS again they said they would send an entirely new replacement. A month later the replacement is dead (black screen with flickering). Now I'm waiting for my fourth monitor and out a bunch of shipping costs that could have gone to a larger better quality monitor.

Other Thoughts: This monitor is garbage. It will die on you, buy something else. Also ASUS gets harder and harder to find support phone numbers. I swear they are trying to hide from their customers needing support.

Pros: This monitor has very high response times making it great for gaming or watching movies.

HDCP compliance means that it will work with the PS3 and Xbox360 for both HDMI and DVI ports

Cons: It is typical for TN panels to have backlight bleeding on the top and bottom of the screen. This only really becomes an issue if the movie you are watching is very dark.

Other Thoughts: $200 is a fair price to pay for such a large monitor.

Pros: -Decent screen with nice resolution.
-Size is nice.
-Bright.
-Speakers are decent.
-Very clean looking.
-3 year warranty.

Cons: -Need a flashlight to see button labels, but not bad after memorizing their location.
-Back-Light is uneven, as it is a tad bit lighter at the edges... although this is only visible if the screen is black and your looking for it.
-Not a lot of maneuverability with the stand, as it only will angle/tilt upwards.

Other Thoughts: I am now on my second monitor, which just broke and I'm having to send back to ASUS for a replacement. Both times the monitor has gone down with the same problem, the back light flickers from grey to black, and is non responsive to any input. The first monitor broke in 2 days upon receiving it, and the second monitor broke in 5 and a half months. This is the reason for the low rating. I typically have had great experience with ASUS, and love their motherboards, but maybe their forte isn't in monitors.

Pros: No dead pixels, great color and contrast (after adjustment), 1080P High Definition, HDMI output, Non-glossy screen, ASCR contrast, and of course its CHEAP. $199 is unbeatable! I upgraded from a 19" LCD and this thing just seems like a monster compared to it. The ASCR feature that you can turn on really helps in bringing out the colors and making the darks darker. I love it so far.. if anything comes up I'll be writing another review.

Cons: None so far. Was worried about it being 16:9 but I see no issue at all... The only thing I am sore about is that UPS was a day late in getting it here. Hehe

Other Thoughts: Gunna bring it in the living room and watch "One Six Right" with my family tonight. :)

Pros: -Big and wide! It's a lot bigger (wider) than i anticipated!
-Just looks beautiful. I mainly game on my computer and MW2 and WoW are just amazing on full graphics with max resolution.
-It swivels (in all directions) very easily.
-Bright, and many settings!
-No LCD bleed at the top or bottom.
-Price!

Cons: The stand seems a little... shaky. I type really fast and kind of hard. The monitor shakes a bit when I do. But, it is a VERY wide monitor. And my table is unsteady. So I'm not complaining.

Pros: A great HD monitor at a great price!

Running Dragon Age Origins in 16:9 at 1920 x 1080 looks absolutely gorgeous!

No dead pixels or ghosties so far this monitor has blown me away with every game I have thrown at it

Cons: Include Monitor stand is very rigid and appears to adjust only tilt angle and only with significant effort. No height adjustment so the monitor sits very low to the desk, no room for even my tiny cambridge cube speakers to fit under the screen. This is not really a CON for me since I purchased a wall mount with full tilt and swivel capability.

Other Thoughts: This is a huge quantum leap forward from my Dell 19" LCD with 1024 x 768 max resolution. Now my Nvidia 9800GT can really flex its muscules and show its stuff at full 1920 x 1080!

Pros: Not heavy. Great clarity. Easy installation of product. Cheap.

Cons: No controls in the OCD to adjust screen position when plugged into HDMI. Had to use my video card drivers in order to get a full screen display at 1920x1080. This is why I removed an egg.

Other Thoughts: None of the Cons detract from the monitor's rating. I knew about or expected all or most of them. For the price, I don't think this monitor can be beat.

My old monitor died and it was a 16:10 aspect ratio. I was kind of worried about changing to a monitor with a 16:9 ratio but I can't even tell the difference, it's a non issue for me.

Also, for those few reviews that said the monitor doesn't display the whole picture in 1080P... no clue what they were talking about. It works great here.

Pros: This is the best monitor I have ever used. I upgraded from a stone age 15" LCD and I will back up my decision 100%. This monitor has great picture and has had no problems in my time using it. 1920x1080 is a great resolution that I think anyone would be happy with.

Cons: I found nothing wrong with the monitor itself. If anything, it made me want to get a new desk.

Pros: BIG monitor! My wife wanted an LCD monitor so I moved my 19" LCD monitor to her computer and bought this one for my computers. Good move... She's happy and I'm happy. No problems with installation and setup. no pad pixals. beautifull color.

Pros: cheap

Cons: Monitor failed for the 3rd time today. When will it end. I have lost all respect for Asus. I will demand they send a new monitor. One egg is too high a rating for this piece of garbage

Pros: Nice looking monitor.
This monitor has a very nice picture quality. For what I play (WoW) this thing is awesome. This is my first lcd monitor so may be biased but I would strongly recommend this to anyone. No dead or stuck pixels on delivery and deliver was fast.

Cons: none so far. Only had for a couple days but we will see.

Pros: Viewing angle is not the best, especially vertically, but it's not too bad either. Colours are great after tweaking, terrible out of the box, much better than my Dell. Stand is fine. Speakers are like most monitors with speakers, no bass at all, but that's pretty standard.

Cons: When I alt-tab, it takes around 3 seconds to get the picture back. That's really the only con I can think of...

Other Thoughts: Great monitor for the price, if you are on a budget you can't go wrong with this one.

Rating + 2 Was nice, while it worked.


Pros: The video was amazingly crisp through both VGA and HDMI. Games on my PC and PS3 looked great. Built in speakers had moderate sound quality.

Cons: My only real problem with this monitor is the fact that it ceased to show any form of proper display on the screen roughly a month and a half after the purchase. Regardless of the cable used for input or lack thereof, it only shows horizontal black and white lines descending slowly across the monitor. I have found myself with a dead monitor only a month and a half after initial hook-up. The lifespan of this monitor is suspect. A shame the return policy on monitors is only thirty days and not a bit longer.

Other Thoughts: A beautiful and sleek monitor with a sharp display and good connectivity. I just wish I could have enjoyed it longer before it ceased working properly. Buyer beware, this monitor is nice, but not quite as long lived as one would hope.

Pros: Clean and crisp
no dead pixels( worried most about this)
Large resolution
Sexy look... very clean and simple.
Good buttons and input switching is easy.
No need for tv tuner with hdmi.. DVR box hooks up via
hdmi and my goly does 1080p look good on this monitor.

Cons: Stand is glossy and easily scratched up, my center speaker is rubbing against it and scratching it. Only a week old and its got decent amount of scratchs.(for only a week)
Stand gives minimal adjustment IMO..
Stand is short, so screen is low if u sit high up.

Other Thoughts: Good monitor, only flaw IMO is stand which isnt really a big deal. Went from a 19"crt... hahaha in 2009 i still had crt. Nothing like 1920x1080 gaming. Not as big as I thought it would be.. ordered a second for more multitasking ability.
I was really worried about dead pixels and newegg... but no dead pixels, so im happy. 5 EGGS!!! ALL THE WAY!!

Pros: Once you get the color profile right, it's a great LCD. Got it to replace my old 19" CRT...I am very happy with this purchase. 1920x1080 is so sweeet! Deep rich colors, no ghosting or summat. I played many games on this and nothing has looked weird.

DVI, HDMI, VGA inputs! I can run my computer in thru DVI, my Xbox 360 thru HDMI, and whenever I fix other computers I can run them thru VGA.

Cons: HDMI Audio seems to have a "auto mute" thing. Whenever I am using my Xbox 360 on the dashboard, and going thru menus..there really isn't any other sounds besides the lil blips from selecting things and moving from one menu to the other. Whenever I stop and no sounds are happening, the monitor (HDMI) mutes the input. When I move around in the menus again, the sound slowly over 2~3 seconds becomes louder back to normal levels.

I can't imagination how this would be with a suspense movie, and little to sound is happening, then a rush of action happens & the sound slowly ramps up to loud again.

One other thing is the input can "auto seek" a live signal. When I am working on another computer via VGA, and reboot it or turn it off, the monitor seeks out another signal, and either goes to my DVI input of my computer, or will just stay on VGA if no other signal is live.

GUI controls are abit odd to get used to, as the buttons are hard to read, look & feel the same to the touch.

Other Thoughts: If the HDMI 'auto mute' thing was fixed, and the auto seek input signal didn't happen, I'd give it a solid 5/5 stars.

One other thing is the headphone out. It too suffered from HDMI auto-mute, and is hard to find w/o moving the whole thign around to plugin your cans.

Pros: Full 1080P HD Monitor
Has VGA, DVI, and HDMI inputs.
Button on monitor to easily switch input sources.
No dead pixels, everything worked great right out of the box.

Cons: Base feels a bit flimsy, but hasn't given me any problems.
Buttons are a bit cheapy feeling, have to press kind of hard to push them.

Other Thoughts: I have this monitor hooked up to 2 different computers so I can switch in between them. One via DVI and one via VGA. The input select switches without a hitch, and actually seems to recognize the new signal rather quickly compared to other monitors I have used.

Pros: 24" of 1080p goodness, HDMI, Audio out (1/8" and SPDIF), 1/8" audio in, Asus warranty

Cons: Poor speakers (surprise?), Stand feels a little cheap, Glossy frame but that's most monitors now, Buttons are a little stiff

Other Thoughts: Overall a very good monitor. Color seems good, mostly have used with an Xbox 360 but tried with PS3 and looked good too. Audio output is great feature to have if needed in both SPDIF and 1/8". I attempted to play a DVD through my 360 and it didn't put out audio for some reason (the DVD is fine) so I'm curious what audio formats the HDMI in this monitor supports. Works fine with games though. The buttons feel a little stiff and the stand could be sturdier, but as a whole it's a good deal.

Pros: I have had this monitor for a year now and have not had any trouble with it. None of the pixels are dead and unlike many of the reviews I have read, I get the complete screen when using an HDMI cable from my PC. I have a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H motherboard with ATI HD3300 onboard graphics.

Cons: The speakers are ok if you are using this at work in an office area where you can not turn the volume up very high but if you are using this at home and like to listen to music or play games, you will still need your surround sound. The same can be said for any other monitor I have seen though.

Other Thoughts: Too bad this thing was $239 on sale when I bought it compared to $189 right now.

Pros: great price. beautiful picture quality.

Cons: black bars around the screen when connected via HDMI. Poor support from Asus about the issue. 1 egg off

Other Thoughts: This screen is huge and best for the price. The quality is superb. Everything I throw at received beautiful result (games, movies). The only downside about this monitor is the HDMI connectivity (see Cons above). I searched for a week or two to find solutions. And I have.

"this is for users with ATI GPU.

open Catalyst CC. Must be in advance mode. On the top left of the program, you'll see Graphics drop box menu. Click it and select Desktops and Displays. At the bottom where it says Please select a display, chose the first TV and click the black triangle above it and a drop down menu appear. Choose configure. Now you should be at new menu screen. on top, there should some menu boxes. Choose scaling options. now you should see a sliding bar "Underscan and overscan", scroll to the very right to Overscan and the screen should increase until it filled up the entire area of your monitor. the img quality should be inscrease too."

In the end, it wasn't the monitor's fault but the gpu

Rating + 4 Color problem (Need ICC)


Pros: Big & cheap. I have it with only $194.99. Various features. It has evenly distributed light source and excellent light leakage control.

Cons: Something strange with the color. I strongly recommend you use a fixed ICC file to correct the color (search it on google). (=.=)
In addition, it is not as much as 300cd/m2, it is about 260cd/m2 actually, and the ASCR contrast is only 8888:1, which is pretty lower than the official standard. T^T
PS: Mine gets one pixel dead, but it is not a problem as I can hardly find it 50cm in front of it.

Other Thoughts: If possible, you can change the item "Digital color format" to YCbCr444, and then reduce the slider of "Digital Vibrance Control" (I change it to 42% in Nvidia Control Panel, which makes it look almost the same as a real picture). You can also decrease the bright as your comfort. Can somebody give a solution on an ATi card in the CCC?

Cons: 2 of 4 came DOA. Asus fixed them for the modest price of shipping them back. Still I think I got a pretty good value.

Other Thoughts: Comuter to HDMI, black border and fuzzy. XBOX, no border.
Found that by default my ATI card scaled the image for HDMI. Called ATI and they said my Videocard was devective and offered an RMA.

Poking around som more, I found the solution...
Catalyst Control Center->Desktops and Displays
At the bottom, right click on monitor connected to hdmi, and select properties.
Select the Scaling Options Tab.
Set Scaling to 0 (the slider all the eay to the right).

Pros: No bad pixels. Good contrast ratio. Built in speakers + SPDIF out

Cons: * HDMI inputs result in shrunken image. Specifically, 1080p displays edge-to-edge when using VGA & DVI-D but recedes with 1" black border when using HDMI. After 20 minutes, resigned to the fact that the display control has no provision to correct this.
* Vertical viewing angle is decent, but viewing from below results in gamma shift.
* Display control confusing

Other Thoughts: For the price, it is a decent monitor, not great value for price.
If computer HDMI output is to be used, don't buy this monitor because the loss screen area result in an effective 20" screen.

Pros: I moved to this monitor from an older 19" 4:3 Samsung, so the increase in desktop space is almost exhausting, but in a good way. It's screen is a beautiful, glossy, bright 1080p, and the menu functions are straightforward and easy to use. After six months of usage, it's still looking good with no dead pixels.

Cons: There is quite a bit of delay when changing between vga, dvi, and hdmi. If you plan on using the hdmi speakers, make note that there is no remote, so you'll find yourself changing the volume by hand. The glossy screen can also give off some nasty glare if you use overhead lighting instead of lamps.

Other Thoughts: I've played 360 over the hdmi connection, and the 1080p really is beautiful. While there are better monitors out there, for the price, I'd buy this one again.

Pros: Huge, HDMI, great color, great price, 1080p. No dead pixels. Fast delivery. Easy setup, buttons are intuitive and easy to use.

Other Thoughts: I went from an old 17" 4:3 to this and was absolutely blown away by the brightness, color, and tons of real estate I got by moving up. It was short-lived, though.. after a week or two, you adjust to the huge size and want an even bigger monitor. I'm not disappointed in the size at all, but you will eventually think of going bigger, or going dual. You may also consider how your video card will handle it. Games look fantastic on this monitor, but I will have to replace my video card to maximize the experience.
I have not yet used the HDMI or speakers, but it's a great monitor if you plan on using it for PS3 or Xbox gaming. Movies look great also, so this + PS3/BluRay should be great, especially as a video setup for college or a bedroom.
Overall I'm extremely pleased with the size and quality of the monitor and would not hesitate to buy another.

Pros: I was looking for lots of desktop space, but don't have the room to use two monitors. This monitor makes the "Maximize Window" button obsolete.
Just plugged in and HDMI work perfectly with XP and Ubuntu 9.10.
A great resolution to price ratio.

Cons: Menu, Power, etc buttons are not great. It is difficult to know if you've pushed the button or not. Tilt is the only adjustment.

Pros: Awesome screens, plugged in, powered on, no dead pixels. Everything just worked out of the box, the way it should. No surprises = Good deal.

Cons: I prefer glossy screens as opposed to the matte screen that these have, but that's just a personal preference. It does reduce glare though, I'll give them that.

Other Thoughts: I never purchased ASUS monitors before, but have used their video cards and motherboards for about 6 years now. Never had a problem with any of them, so I figured, why not try out their monitors? I'm very satisfied. ASUS can't seem to do anything wrong with the products I've purchased from them.

-It is veryeasy to switch imputs from hdmi to dvi. just by a click of a button
-I play all my gaming on pc and xbox 360 on this. Crysis looks amazing! Xbox just looks standard, not the best.

Pros: This is by far the best monitor I've ever owned. The color and clarity is amazing, not to meantion the size. No problems hooking it up and zero dead pixels. Tilts back and forth with ease, hardly have to use any pressure at all.

Other Thoughts: I was shopping around for a while and I wasn't able to find a better deal anywhere. I looked at Best Buy and they didnt have any monitors that compared in quality or size at even close to the price that I got this one for. Newegg service was awesome as always. Free shipping at the time I bought it and it shipped the same day. If you are trying to decide between this monitor and another one you can stop looking and just order this one. Pros: Affordable 1920x1080p monitor. Great color depth for movies.

Cons: Came with one dead pixel...

Other Thoughts: Can't complain, running two of these monitors for video/photo editing. Next step is purchasing 30" 2500x1600 monitors. Hopefully Asus will begin producing those as well.

Pros: D-SUB, DVI, HDMI, great resolution and coloring.
Not much to say, it is great and is wide and looks cool. I have 2 of them and cannot be more happier. A great monitor for everyone and quite easy on the eyes.

Cons: Does not tilt (but that is ok, i am not moving it anywhere. The buttons are a lil hard to press but then again, i am not turning it on/off at all.
Somewhat of a dust magnet but who cares, it looks good.

Other Thoughts: There are no cons for me because it does not bother me at all what i said in the above section, it is an FYI for people that are looking into buying it.

Rating + 5 Can't Go Wrong


Pros: This is a well designed monitor and it really looks great with the glossy black color. The screen itself is excellent, great colors, very crisp images, and nice features such as it's different mode presets that you can change on the fly with the push of a button. There is theater mode, night mode, game mode, scenery mode and a few other just to name a few. Game mode for example brightens darker areas so you wont be struggling to see a opponent camping in that far corner behind the box with his PB&J.

*almost forgot to add this in, but I love they HDMI port on this. Bring my monitor to all the PS3 and 360 LAN parties I go to with friends and it's so much nicer than luggin' around my huge tube tv and much bigger and more clear than the hd mini tv I bought for the same price.

Cons: Yes, contrast ratio and refresh time could be better. And the built in speakers definitely are not high quality but that's me trying to be picky.

Other Thoughts: This is a great monitor for it's price, of course there are areas for improvement but if your going to be unsatisfied with 5ms refresh rate and the 1000:1 ratio then maybe you should save another $100-$200 and look for something else.

If you want to save some cash, and have a great dependable monitor for the price then I would suggest you look into this Asus as a option.

Rating + 4 Excellent Monitor


Pros: 1080p, 24", solid construction, vga/dvi/3.5mm audio cables included, built in speakers are very clear if a little meek

Cons: no audio over HDMI (lost an egg for this). weird menu navigation, but ok once you get the hang of it.

Other Thoughts: blew $10 on an HDMI cable, but the video looks better with the provided dvi cable... no audio over hdmi anyhow, so save yourself the extra $.

Really happy overall with this on the whole... good value for the $ and fast newegg shipping per usual.

Pros: This monitor is wonderful for the price. I upgraded from a 4 year old, 19 inch Viewsonic monitor, and man this thing is a monster. It has wonderful colors (after adjusting it). No dead pixels, can be mounted to the wall, and looks nice!

Rating + 5 1 Year and still Kickin!!


Pros: This is a bright and beautiful, performance monitor. I have been putting this thing through hell for 12hrs a day for a year now. I payed a little more back in the day but so worth it. Asus once again has put real quality into another product and kept me a come back customer. I have owned many LCD's and I tell ya what,, not only is this the cheapest, but by far the best :)

Cons: no vertical adjustment, maybe picks up a finger print here and there.. not much.

Other Thoughts: Look, if you dont have a lot of money and want the best at the same time, buy this monitor.

Pros: Inexpensive, looks great, and no dead pixels. The sound is good and loud but flat. Great deal, works good with xbox!

Cons: There are different settings for the differnet enviorments your in, such as gaming, video, scenery. They alproduce different colors and this can be annoying. Compared to my viewsonic the colors are off in realistic terms. They appear brighter and sometimes it isn't a bad thing.

Pros: Great picture, has HDMI input works with a xbox 360. Oh and the biggest pro No dead pixels!

Cons: I've had a few problems with the HDMI sometimes not having audio from my 360. Not exactly sure whats the problem with that.

Other Thoughts: I ended up buying it at a local store so I could easily return it if there were any dead or stuck pixels(but I did pay $20 more).

Pros: WOnderful deal for the price. The size of the monitor surprised me, I was not expecting it to be so big. I am very pleased with the purchase. I hooked the monitor up to a ztsystems 7337ma running windows 7 and i am glued to my seat. Great deal

Cons: Took a couple of seconds to get the power to come on but maybe I was not pushing the button in correctly.
Thus far no complaints at all. The picture quality is excellent. No dead pixels.

Rating + 1 cheap for a reason, horrible experience with Asus


Pros: cheap

Cons: this is the second defective unit I received in a row. The first one has horizontal gray flickering, which was at least tolerable if you try hard to ignore it. This second one I just received doesn't even work at all. It firstly shows a blue box with a white band in the middle on the screen, and then turns black entirely. The cheap plastic buttons do not work, the white power on/off button can't even turn off the monitor!! Tried to find Asus's customer support number on the warranty card, and the only number I found can't even be connected. I eventually found ASUS notebook support number online, and asked the agent to transfer me to whoever could help. etc etc. Nobody was helpful and nobody knew his stuff.

Other Thoughts: I do not blame newegg for this. Their customer service has been excellent. Shipping was fast, agents polite. But I do blame Asus for manufacturing such a low quality model. Two defective models in a row, what are the odds? I am going to switch to a more reputable model like Samsung or LG. Wasted so much time on this, I should have known.

Pros: I've had no problems at all. Everything looks fantastic on this large, bright screen.

Cons: The video source button is right next to the power button. If you aren't paying attention, you can change the video source and spend a few minutes trying to figure out why you have no picture :)

Pros: Great picture and size for the money ,nothing in that price range can beat it .

Cons: The only cons for me is that the buttons are a bit clumsy which makes using the menu a little slow , but definitely far from a deal breaker .

Other Thoughts: Why buy a 22'' when for 20 bucks more you can get a 24" with full hdmi . And believe me there is difference ,every time I sit on the pc upstairs (the one using the 22) I just feel something is wrong :]

Pros: There isn't any ghosting at all.
Games and movies look amazing. The colors are vibrant and sharp (if you're using some of the preset options).
Text is readable (again, depends on the preset options).
Very large screen size, for quite a low price.
Brightness is never an issue.
HDMI, DVI, VGA inputs.

Cons: Okay, there are some downsides to this monitor.

When you leave it in Standard mode, the text is totally readable, and the screen is definitely bright enough if you need it to be. BUT, the colours don't seem to be that vibrant. The screen looks juuuuust a little bit dull.

Now if you want the colours to be more prominent and better, then there are several presets you can use to make videos and games look amazing. But as soon as you use these other presets, text on the screen isn't as readable.

It's not really an issue I guess. You can use the standard mode for doing work and whatnot. And as soon as you want to use it for entertainment, switch it to one of the other modes.

The difference though is still pretty stark. So it is a nuisance nonetheless. The text isn't unreadable, but it looks weird. It's not exactly blurry in non-standard presets, but it sometimes seems like black text isn't exactly black.

Also, the buttons feel really cheap, but everything else is definitely n

Other Thoughts: So yeah. My suggestion would be to go and find one of these monitors somewhere and fiddle with all of the presets.

It's annoying having to switch between presets when doing work or gaming, but it has to be done. If you want movies to look amazing, use Theatre. But when you're doing work, you just have to use Standard so text is completely readable.

Pros: Price is good

Cons: I can't get color correction right on Ubuntu 9.10. Blues and greens meld together. Installed the ICM file in the windows driver. Lame.

Also, styrofoam packaging is bad for environment. Where environment = "my office" and "bad" = tiny little flecks of styrofoam all over the place.

Up the colors and packaging.

Rating + 2 I really did like it...


Pros: Amazing monitor when it functioned flawlessly... Details and colors are crisp. Game mode makes games look amazing.

Cons: Is currently dying after 3 months of use, can't RMA with newegg and sending back to Asus supposedly take anywhere between 2 and 6 weeks. I got this awesome gray flickering screen that shows up randomly. However because I really needed to use my monitor I tried moving it around a little and it came back on. So now I'm in an awkward state everyday trying to get my monitor to turn on and stay on.

Other Thoughts: Going to RMA but at college and don't have the box for it (my mistake I didn't know it was going to break!) I am really disappointed with Asus as I love their mobos/vid cards. I guess they make a really cheesy monitor, hope that I can figure this stuff out and get it sent back to them.

Rating + 4 VGA connection problem


Pros: High price quality ratio, bright color and high contrast

Cons: When connected to my laptop using VGA cable, the monitor displays a strong horizontal interference during gray and dark green. I tried to hook it up with other computers that have DVI or HDMI, problem goes away.

Other Thoughts: It seems that there's some problem with the VGA connection. For digital cable users, this shouldn't be an issue. But for me, my laptop has only VGA and the interference is very distracting, so I am hoping a replacement will solve this. I would still recommend it if you have either DVI or HDMI on your PC, which should be very common nowadays.

Rating + 4 Another great ASUS product


Pros: Everything's very crisp, HDTV and my 360 (VGA input) look phenomenal on it. Colors are good. Border is shiny black and thin, just what I wanted. The speakers are about what you'd expect from a monitor, but I don't use them anyways.

Cons: Buttons are somewhat hard to see at first so switching inputs may end up changing the brightness. Volume and brightness changing are funky, but functional. Switching inputs takes a bit longer than I'd like, but it works fine. An easier input selection menu would be nice for those of us that don't want to cycle through three inputs.

Other Thoughts: Great monitor all around. I bought mine open boxed for $134.99 and it was worth every single penny upgrading from a 19" SAMSUNG 5:4. My initial buyer's remorse cleared the instant it arrived and now I'm considering buying another one for an epic and unnecessary dual setup :P

Cons: The colors look very "blue". Green fades into blue.

Tried to install the ICM in the driver from the website, but it didn't help.

Unless you have great color correcting skills (or better than mine anyways) it will look nasty in Ubuntu 9.10.

Pros: Solid Picture, Colors are bright, I don't use the speakers but I never planned on that anyway.
