Pros: I purchased two of these Spring 2009 for faculty to use with distance education projects. They were very impressed with this camera (in comparison to built-in laptop webcams and other ~$30 cams). Purchased two more in Fall 2009, hearing more great compliments on how well they work, so I'm going to pick up a few more to have in stock.

Cons: Once I moved one on somebody's desk, and it quit working. (was using the tall stalk) Took me a few minutes to debug: it actually just serves as a usb extension cable, and I had knocked it slightly loose, so there wasn't a good electrical connection. Pushing it back together fixed it.

Other Thoughts: I see a review here saying it doesn't work with Win7 64bit. Guess I'm lucky, didn't do anything special and it works for us. And another review about the poor mic ... we were using it this week in large computer lab (25 stations). They were complimenting it, picking up speakers from the back of the room, with the camera at the front (25' away).

Pros: Can't think of many. If it actually worked, there'd be plenty.

Cons: This things just doesn't work. I don't mean it was doa, but just that it is very poorly executed. The camera itself is no better than a $20 webcam. Image quality is very disappointing. The software is complete and utter carap.

Just mad I wasted a couple hours messing with this cheesy junk.

Pros: None

Cons: I can't believe there are so many good reviews for this camera. This camera is garbage.

1) Does not tilt smoothly left - right

2) Poor quality video when used with other softwares (considering the money you pay). Overall quality is from a $30 camera

3) The tilt up and down broke the same day I got it. I read reviews on Google and there are complaints from 2005 - 2009 about the tilt up - down breaking. How about fixing it after 5 years?

4) Mic is horrific. You are better off with a $2 mic on new egg

I wanted to buy a good web cam for my videos. This was not IT! Don't waste your money. Logitech should stick to Keyboards and Mouses not Webcams

Pros: From all that I've read, seen, and heard, this is a good webcam. Overall one of the best, in spite of a few less-than-positive reviews.

Cons: To purchasing this product? None that I know of.

Other Thoughts: People have expressed confusion and displeasure about the way this webcam (and therefore all webcams) are advertized. We're given a "Max Resolution" or in this case "Video Capture Resolution" which means the same thing. The keyword here is CAPTURE. This is the maximum size of a still image that can be 'captured' from this webcam. And the stats also give a framerate ... in this case, said framerate being 30 FPS (a respectable figure in and of itself). However...

The FPS rate given is not for the image capture size. And none of the webcams that I've been watching will tell you that, but it's an integral part of the purchase equation -- knowing what resolution video can be captured while grabbing at 30 FPS. I don't know what the video resolution is on this or any webcam, as they all refuse to say say in the stats. Could be 30 FPS @ 1024*768. Could be 30 FPS at 640*480. We really need to know that resolution to make our purchasing decisions.

Rating + 2 Terrible Image Quality


Pros: It's your basic webcam with a few extra software settings. Since its a Logitec camera its compatible with just about every program that supports video.

Cons: Grainy imagery. The built in cameras on a Macbook are much cleaner than this camera. Also the tracking isn't very good. It jerks around a bit, but if you move around a bit it'll start focusing on your shoulder, or something else entirely.

Other Thoughts: For the price of this camera, it really isn't worth it. I'd expect better from Logitec. Ideally a camera like this would give you crystal clear video and even a wide angle lens. We've been using it in our conference room for a few months and are going to be replacing it in the next week or so due to the grainy video quality, particularly over Skype.

Rating + 5 Wonderful Camera


Pros: This, along with everything I have bought from Logitech, is a wonderful camera. I purchased it to help keep in touch with my family as I went of to college, and so far, everything works nicely. Install was a snap (I downloaded the drivers from Logitechs website, not from the disk, to ensure I had the latest drivers). I have used it with and without the stand, and for my application, the stand is preferred. It brings it up closer to head height, so people on the other end don't feel like they are looking up to you.

Cons: Like others, the face tracking isnt all that wonderful. It will follow you around for a while, then it will focus on any round object and assume its your head. After that, you just have to disable the auto faice tracking and reposition it on your head manually. The included Logitech Vid program is nice, but I expected higher quality web conversations. Not the cameras fault, but whenever using Logitech vid (or any vid chat program), the quality is at its lowest to conserve bandwidth. I wish I could tell it to take more bandwidth and produce a better video conversation.

The base is well made, heavy to ancor the camera down. The extension rod is also high quality plastic. The camera dome itself is extremely light weight and feels like just the pressure needed to snap it onto the pole or the base will crush it. Reminds me of a christmas tree ornament. This didnt take away from the overall rating though, because chances of it falling over with the heavy base are slim.

Other Thoughts: To the person who said they only got 15 frames a second, 1st, make sure its plugged into a USB2.0 port, not a 1.1 or 1.0 port. 2, make sure right light is enabled in the camera settings. Also, make sure that all the exposure and gain settings are set to automatic. 3rd, make sure you have adequate light on your face or whatever you are trying to record. The camera will slow down the frame rate to produce a brighter image.

The microphone is super sensitive. I had the camera sitting about 2 feet away from a external hard drive on a desk, and it would pick up the vibrations and broadcast them. The noise reduction setting helped, but not enough. My solution, move the external hard drive. Just keep this in mind if it is going into a noisy area or if your computer is loud.

Pros: This webcam quality is that of an HD Camcorder! Excellent quality in skype, msn, messenger,aim.

Cons: Nothing, I did the research & homework and I wanted the best webcam on the market, and this is it.

Other Thoughts: I was thinking for awhile maybe I should use a camcorder as a webcam for streaming and all that (I'm a bit of quality freak) when I plugged this into my computer I was pretty amazed this really comes close to a very nice camcorder. I've been going through so many reviews, video reviews of camcorders, and after digging deep through alot of peoples opinions and deep reviews this webcam was the choice, and now since i've been using it I am very pleased. I'm using vista ultimate 64bit and it works fine. If you pulling your hair trying to find out right now which webcam and you have some other websites open in your broswer doing research yourself (stop) this is the best webcam on the market, just buy it here at newegg and be done with it and enjoy this webcam please!

Pros: Absolutely EXCELLENT picture quality, the microphone is clear, and the face tracking works wonderful indoors. The "Right Light" technology truly works. Drivers are as always with Logitech well executed.

Cons: Does not work 100% with USB 1.1, you may loose the ability to manually control the view of the camera. Does not work with facial tracking in very bright light, especially outdoors.

Pros: This camera is amazing. It was very easy to install the software and drivers for it. I recommend going straight to Logitech's website and downloading the latest version there. It worked with no problems. The resolution is great and the features are very helpful. Auto tracking is useless but you can move the camera from within the software which is very helpful when centering yourself. All in all, it works great. Using it for skype as well and it is working well.

Cons: The price for one but it is the best camera on the market in my opinion. If you want to play you have to pay!

Not made to be moved around manually. I have it on the extension stem and when physically moved it seems to lose connection and can confuse your pc. Best to leave the camera in one place and adjust the position within the software. you can even zoom within the software so for basic use, you should not have to move it around. Also, the mic was too sensitive at first and that took some tweaking in both Logitech's software as well as skype. I suggest turning the sensitivity all the way down as it is very sensitive. Once that was tweaked, it seems to be working well. However, if you are the type of person that raises his/her voice alot, you will most likely hear distortion at times.

Other Thoughts: I have had this camera for about a week now and I am really happy with it. I am using it to make videos of myself for emailing and skype. For my needs, this camera is more than I need. I am happy with the purchase so far.

Rating + 5 Great cam, lots of fun features.


Pros: Camera worked great on Windows Xp machine. I was impressed by the image quality. Webcams have come along way in 15 years. Face tracking works pretty well as does autofocus. RightLight adjusts the lighting faster and better than I could no manually. Microphone is very sensitive and can pick up people 20 feet away.

Cons: My camera did not focus on anything over 5 feet away. I was going to send it back but instead I opened it up and found you could remove a small blob of glue and turn the black ring around the lens to adjust the focus. Now it is crisp and I'm very happy with the picture. I use it in a family room where everyone if 7-12 feet away.

Other Thoughts: Initially the camera speed was very slow. Choppy picture and slow to respond to movement commands. It turns out the USB hub needed to be powered. Once I got power to my usb hub it picked up to full USB2.0 speed.

Pros: Easy installation and very inexpensive considering the quality of the web cam picture/video.

Cons: Once the software was installed, the web cam worked perfectly. The next day I downloaded the updated drivers upon startup and noticed that I could not make a Video Call on Skype. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled a second time and was then I was able to make video calls on Skype. I will not upgrade my software from Logitech in the future. If it ain't broke - don't fix it.

Other Thoughts: For me, the face tracking follow me function is better left off. I found it to be annoying and it makes the video jump.

Pros: Easy installation. Does not have to be mounted on the monitor, can sit on a shelf. During the tryout with Skype a friend from Germany reported that the picture was "razor sharp" and the sound was excellent. Zoom feature is nice.

Cons: Price. Face tracking does not work very well. No big deal for me.

Other Thoughts: Logitech (or Newegg) should list the dimensions in the specifications. Had to go to Best Buy to find out whether there was enough room on my shelf.

Pros: Good picture and nice options in software. Software Fantastic for a logitech. Collor and bright work well.

Cons: Not 1600 x 1200 as specs claim 960 X 720 best option available in software.
No mount for tripod.
Lots of background on built in noise.
Poor support for alt mic. I have a Blue Snowball and no adjustment so far brings the volume level on the record video up to a reasonable listening level. The mic works with all other software and this may be a skype conflict.
Tracking a little choppy.
Zoomed focus grainy.

Other Thoughts: Over all it does a good job. Needs a little improvement and Not a production TV camera but works well in general. I would buy it again.

Pros: Very easy to install and operate. Extremely sharp picture even in bad lighting.

Cons: takes a lot of computer CPU time, I've installed this on my older system nothing else can really run while the camera is on. I know any newer system will be fine, since I've friends with new PC's that run it with no problem.

The cartoon icons don't really seem to work well, but I don't really use them.

Pros: It does face tracking and does very good quality pics and video. Looks pretty sleak.

Pros: Looks very good for what it is. supports many apps. Decent price ($100). Motorized horizontal and vertical movement. Logitech app features are good, however they don't always work right if the lighting is off, or the subject is not within a certain distance parameter.

Cons: USB extension pole was flakey on one of my five cams. Give it any vibration or just the right motor movement command and it would crash or lock up the app. So I don't use the poles at all in any of my cams.

Pros: Excellent camera. Its face tracking ability is very good and it pretty much worked out of the box.

Cons: The software that came with it was an old version and did not work properly. Downloading a replacement from Logitech did the trick.

Pros: The face tracking and resolution are awesome. The directions and software are simple. Works flawlessly w/Skype.

Cons: None I can think of.

Other Thoughts: We bought three of these, one for us, and one for each set of grandparents. They love seeing our 1 and 3 year olds. The kids love being able to actually see their grandparents...they never would really talk on the phone. Both sets of grandparents were up and running in about 20 minutes (installing the cam and getting a skype account). Neither set of grandparents are particularly tech savvy. I walked them through it over the phone with no problems. I'm glad we sprung for the more expensive cam with excelletn resolution!

Pros: It works. It kind of does what the box says...

Cons: When the person on the other side has slower connection is a drawback. I had to turn off the motion tracking after a while, since it found other things in the room that seemed more important. Finally I got a new, cheaper and better performing model, this one ended up on my secondary machine. The stand was unusable for me.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't buy again... the tracing technology isn't polished yet.

Pros: Easy to use software, and very high quality video for a webcam. Admittedly, this is the first webcam I've used in almost 10 years, but as far as I can tell, it looks very, very good. Skype detected the camera with no problem, and I was video conferencing in minutes, with no troubleshooting.

Cons: The camera comes with an optional pole to stand it on. This is nice, but i wish it were several inches longer, so that I could stand it up behind my monitor, rather than off to the side.

Other Thoughts: Used this to video conference with my parents, so they could see their first grandson. They really got a kick out of it. They have a cable connection, and I have DSL. Using Skype, there was only a little stuttering and almost no lag. Very nice.

Pros: This produces a great quality picture and the 2.0 MP was a huge selling point. The motion tracking feature is also a bonus.

Cons: Sometimes the motion tracking will over correct and ends up cutting off the top of your head. A bit pricey compared to your typical web cam.

Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure if a webcam was worth splurging on, but every person I Skype with has commented on how great the picture it produces is. This webcam has definitely lived up to the hype and I wouldn't hesitate recommending it. Do yourself a favor and buy it.

Pros: The cam is very nice and fun to play around with. The motion sensing is a great tool. I give it three eggs because really it's not bad with the exception of the CON's. If you sit in front of the camera and talk to friend via skype or other it's great. If your trying to catch your kids running around and playing, it can be much better.

Cons: The only CON I have is that rapid movement causes the picture to blur. Ironically I have a digital camera that manages to capture even rapid movement very much better than the web cam. On occasion the picture freezes also, not as smooth as I wanted it to be.

Other Thoughts: The motion sensing is one of my favorite tools and one of the reasons I bought it.

Pros: This Cam is a one time buy, and when i say that i mean you will never buy another cam ever again. This things is amazing, its like camcorder quality video on and offline for many uses. Buy this Cam and you will not be disappointed, the following feature is amazing too. Oh night vision too, shut all the lights in the room and i can see clear as if a light was on. Zoom is amazing and following is great. Would buy again if i needed another one.

Pros: Everything about this is easy. Anybody could use one. Switching from stand to base is so simple. The effects are pretty neat. The audio and video quality is even better in person than any video review I've seen. I LOVE the motion detector ability! I leave my computer on almost all the time, and I've left the webcam on motion detection so that it starts recording as soon as it senses movement. Caught the dog getting in the garbage and my fiancee picking his nose.

Cons: Hmm... when I find one, I'll let you know!

Other Thoughts: I love newegg, but I found one way cheaper (by $50) on another well-known site. Would rather have bought from Newegg, but can't say no to saving that kind of money.

Whether you're a seasoned pro or a newbie, this camera is perfect. Buy it. I'm serious. RIGHT NOW.

Pros: Good image.

Cons: Lame software/support. So I opened a trouble ticket 3 days ago with Logitech. I even debugged the problem. Basically their service hangs my boot up but doesn't log anything to the system logs. So my machine work fine as long as I don't use their software. I guess I can just use linux with out loosing any functionality? :( 2 more days and it goes back.

Other Thoughts: Bad support. decent hardware. Facetracking is so so.

Pros: Crisp, clear picture without the annoying motion blur of lesser webcams. User-friendly and efficient software. High-quality lens and construction. Camera tracks your face, which is very handy. Logitech customer support is top-notch.

Cons: Expensive, but you get what you pay for. I wish I would have bought it from Newegg, paid a more for it on a different site.

Other Thoughts: One thing I've noticed is that the auto-tracking feature can be quite creepy. It's almost like it's peering into your soul, judging you. Sometimes at night, while in bed, I get the feeling its watching me. It's silly I know, but I often cover it with a cloth when I'm not using my computer.

Pros: The image is crisp in "both sides" of the chat; excellent video resolution; fun extras; face tracking is great; microphone's quality is very very good considering its apparent size and that is located at the lower side of the camera's stand; matte and glossy finish adds a touch of ellegance.

Pros: Excellent, easy to use, and fun web cam. This is my first web cam and I am very glad that I bought it. It is very nice to have the zoom and tracking features. It also takes very nice snapshots. Skype friendly, of course.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Even though I followed the installation and set up instructions to the letter there was a hiccup at the beginning. But, re-installing the software, etc. set everything right. Even though I resolved the situation on my own before Logitech's Tech Support responded, I am *very* impressed that they responded within less than 48 hours -- on a weekend!

Rating + 3 Malfunctioning after 10 months


Pros: Awesome image quality. Extremly clear even under low light at night.

Cons: The camara started malfunctioning after 10 months. I dont use it that much... maybe an hour a week the most. It is in a non smoking room, with A/C almost dust free.
Anyways... the NEW HARDWARE sign comes up with the little sound. Then it goes away... then it comes up again... the off again... and it keeps looping like that forever, It happens in Vista and XP and also in othercomputers in my house. The little sounds of new hardware detected was driving me crazy so I unplugged it at last. Sometimes it works for a couple of minutes and then it suddenly stops.

Other Thoughts: Newegg fail me for the first time... they denied the RMA because I dont have the box.... who really keeps the boxes for every single things they buy?!?!?! I only keep it for CPU, mobos and Video cards. I never tought Newegg would denied it for the box... how about if they would send me a working camera and kept the box... who really cares about the box anyway.
I would have to continue with the RMA with Logitech now... I even had the CD and little book.... just not the oversized box. Next time I will move to a house with an extra room just to keep all boxes... how about that!

Rating + 4 Not Bad.... Not Perfect.


Pros: The image quality of this camera is superb, even in low light. There are a myriad of ways to get good quality in extremely low light, only illuminated by the monitor! Good for still pix, good for video.

Cons: I have yet to be able to get real time video that is quick and responsive (for instance while lip syncing to music). This may be that my computer is old or lacks memory or something, but I doubt it. The audio is pretty lousy. It's not horrible, but it is a long way from what I would consider good. Many features do not work in Linux. The panning, movement and zoom do not work, and there is no way to get the default effects that Logitech includes in the Windows driver up and running in Linux. Frequently Ubuntu has a problem determining I even HAVE a web cam (it often confuses it with my TV tuner card), and I have to unplug it and plug it in again, which is a real pain since you have to plug direct into the back of the machine as it is USB 2.0, and USB extensions seem to deprecate that and therefore not work well for this camera.

Other Thoughts: Logitech and other companies need to provide better Linux support. There is really no excuse for not having a perfectly functional web cam and Skype in Linux at this point. I've moved over half of my clients fro m Windows to Ubuntu, and little nagging things like this are the ONLY impediment to moving the other half. Also, it would be good if the camera drivers did not require directx and could work in Virtualbox. Best web cam I've owned, great video, but still far from perfect on every other score.

Pros: This is my third Logitech web cam. So far so good. Every next one is better than previous. I got Fusion (previous model) for my mother and 9000 pro for my girlfriends brother. All of them are working great. This one is the best so far. I really like fact that it doesn’t have to be attached to the monitor. Has a stand and you can just set it next to you. Other good think is that the camera with extension stick is on your eye level so when you are using it with IM programs (like Skype or messenger for example) camera doesn’t look at you from the top. It is more natural. With that comes a bad think it is not really design to work with laptop. It is great when stand on the top of your desk but when you want to attached it to the screen of your laptop probably duck tape is the best idea ?
Over all I’m very pleasant with my purchase. I don’t think is my last Logitech web cam but so far the best.

Cons: It looks delicate, especially when stands on extension stick. If your computer is used by very creative children, you may look for something with less moving parts

Cons: I had hoped to be able to use the webcam to make some short acoustic music videos (for practice purposes) but the audio distorts at a remarkably low volume even with the mic gain turned all the way down. I have a cheap microphone that came with a 1997 computer that sadly does a better job.

Pros: Good design and excellent deal. works great with no flaws either.

Cons: only con maybe would be software but its not really big issue and if you use the stand seems very fragile so you should be careful. No bag to store it either which would be nice.

Other Thoughts: for those having issues with rebate, well it takes a while around 2 months or so but logitech keeps you informed and updated on their site so you know whats going on. You do get it, thats if you filled it out correctly.

This is definately worth the investment if your tired of buying cheap cams that dont' work. I'll continue to buy from newegg and buying logitech products as I have over the past years!

Pros: The picture looks great and the webcam has a lot of nice features. The RightLight 2 Technology makes the picture look great in any amount of lighting. The face tracking is a nice feature, but sometimes looses your face if you move too fast. Some of the video effects are kinda fun too.

Cons: Although the RightLight 2 Technology is nice, it drops the frame rate down and blurs quick motions, such as your mouth moving or your head turning. But the picture does not look too bad if you turn off the RightLight setting, and the blurring goes away. Also, the microphone is not the greatest, but it does the job.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is a great webcam and I would recommend buying if you are looking for a decently priced HD webcam.

Pros: Great webcam, I like it because it meets skype's high quality requirements to make high quality video calls. I like the fact that it has a pole it can stand on or the pole can be removed and the camera can move manually or automatically which is a bit awkward a bit too.

Cons: a little sluggish, I suppose this is to be expected with USB. Compared to some of the cheaper models its not nearly as sluggish.

Other Thoughts: The video quality is no doubt very good, I was just hoping for faster video display as I have a 1.3MP webcam on my laptop and it is like watching a video camera or being on TV really unlike this webcam you can tell you're on a webcam obviously :)

Pros: Nice webcam, good video quality, good picture quality. Drivers easy to install. Easy to use interface. Motion tracking works pretty good.

Cons: Still the same price as when I bought it 2+ years ago. After installing the drivers and the user interface app, there is a very annoying updater that is a resource hog and pops up at inconvenient times.

Other Thoughts: Owned it for 2+years with no issues. Use it for making troubleshooting videos. Once you figure out the lag timings on the motion tracking you can do things a little slower so it works alot better. Pros: Exellent Image quality no lag what so ever when video confrencing. The color, clarity, and contrast are very good. Drivers work well using XP or Vista. The hight extender is great also since my desk is low. I highly recommend this product.

Cons: not recommended motion tracking its a little off. Thats about it for cons it has exellent pixel quality 1600 x 1200!!! which most people use a 1024 x 768 moniter which means fullscreen ^_^

Pros: Camera captures a great image. Color, clarity, contrast, and low light operations are all VERY good. Drivers work well (using XP (SP2 & 3) or Vista (32 & 64), and the height extension rod brings the camera eye level from a standard height desk. Based on this info alone I can highly recommend this product.

Cons: If you wanted this camera for its motion tracking, and other 'fun' features. make sure you have a lot of light. In my home the light is low enough that the camera tracks me correctly only about 35-45%; when it doesn't you have to wave at it and such for it to realize you moved, then regain your image...and the centering always seems off by a bit. In the office it tracks much better, which I attribute to the lighting; I'd say it works correctly about 50-70% of the time in that environment.

Other Thoughts: It's cool, it's much cheaper than it used to be, and it is easy to set up and use on Skype, AOL, or other voice messaging programs...If you have remote access to your PCs, you can check up on pets or teenagers by panning the cam around the room manually. I caught my cat on the couch one day, and I have to say it really freaks your cat out when you're telling them to get off the couch when and they know you are not home.

Pros: Once loaded the cam worked with everything. The settings were pretty easy to use. Of course the video quality was really good for a 2mp webcam. The video appeared smooth when using with chat.

Cons: Camera is a little on the delicate side. I also wish it had a travel case.
I have had a few small issues with color that were quickly corrected.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to use when I travel. As I said above a travel case would have been great. I love the fact that I can pan and tilt without actually touching the camera. The face recognition and the fun stuff that are included were a little gimicky, but still fun.

Rating + 5 Very nice little camera


Pros: Excellent quality capture for both photos and videos. We're using this camera for web conferencing for depositions and it does excellent, the microphone is OK, but we'll prob get a different one.

Cons: The only con I can think of is that the software is annoying when you first try to use it. It won't capture videos the first time you use the software unless you completely exit out of the quickcapture program and go back in. Not really much of a con though since it only happens the first time you use the software and we don't use it for recording any ways.

Other Thoughts: Not a really a con to me but the "video" capture is not 1600 X 1200 although the photos go to a full 8 MP. However if you turn the video capture up to the "HD" setting (like 940 by something can't remember the number exactly) it still has pretty amazing quality for a web cam.

Pros: *awesome* resolution. mechanized pan/tilt allows other people to control your cam through the right software (and allows me to VNC home and move it too). auto focus works well for the most part. face tracking works, but isn't perfect (dont expect to run around the room). and with skype, you get "high quality" video (640x480)

Cons: logitech software.

Other Thoughts: no matter how many of their (usually awesome) peripherals i own (quite a few), logitech's software is almost always horrible. at least this time you can choose to install JUST the drivers during the regular install process (so you don't have to root around for the .inf files yourself) and avoid the full quickcam installation.

Pros: What can I say...This little thing has good picture quality and it actually turns and moves to follow your head/body movements to keep you centered.
Takes good still shots and decent video, has it's own microphone and extender pole to put the camera head on, to raise it about 8 inches from the base.

Other Thoughts: I would recomend this to someone and buy it again.
You need USB 2.0 and a 2.4GHz or faster cpu to get the best pic quality from the video, all around just a great webcam.

Pros: Great quality. The face tracking works great, although I haven't used the "multiple face" mode. Microphone works a good distance away. It's a lot of fun to conduct a web cam interview and then make yourself a talking cat and act like you don't realize...

Works nicely with skype.

Cons: Cost I guess. But this is one of those rare occasions when you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: It's creepy to put the neck on this thing and watch it follow you around the room. I think mine has become self-aware.

Be careful where you put your speakers, you may get some feedback.

Pros: I got this as an upgrade to my old Logitech QuickCam Zoom. There is a significant difference. Installation went fine.

Cons: The software included really is not all that great.

Pros: Excellent device. Picture quality was excellent. Everything worked out of the box, it was fantastic.

My kids loved playing with all the graphic extras...

Cons: The software it came with is good, but it is a little iffy when you just want to activate the video. Once activated everything runs flawlessly, but I have had a few times when the software had to be restarted to get the video to display.

Other Thoughts: Excellent picture quality. It worked flawlessly with Skype.

Pros: Excellent quality, stable drivers and highly supported (such as Skype high-quality support). More quality than you need for standard video conferencing.

Rating + 5 Excellent motorized PTZ USB webcam


Pros: High resolution, excellent image (color, etc.) (including in low-light conditions).

Cons: None. Though I have not tried yet if PTZ works at full resolution (its predecessor Opbit MP disabled PTZ at full res because of USB power limitations). But at 640x480 it works great. Image quality is a big leap compared to Orbit MP.

Other Thoughts: I write my own software that deals with all kinds of video sources. This camera is 100% compliant with DirectShow spec.
It is a much better buy than Creative Live! Motion motorized PTZ webcam.

Pros: Well it has nice camera Quality, and the Avatars and such are kind of neat.

Cons: Make sure you have a microphone to recrod your voice, because if you think that your voice and picture will all me at the same rate ( When your using the sound recorder on the Cam), YOUR WRONG.

Other Thoughts: It it actually way to costly for the price, i bought mine when i was $110, Which is no money to spend of a webcam. Though it was nice shipping. Thanks Newegg.

The software is trash "IF" you want to use AVATARS. I tried it just for kicks. The "physical" hardware works great and I stand by the 5 rating... "If" your looking for the "BEST" Avatar/web cam to connect, this probably isn't the one nor do I think there is a "best" for Avatars. Pick your poison. The software is "trash" for Add on's and is not only "NOT" user friendly, but DON'T work...
In the previous review I indicated a problem with speed of a computer and found out: "If your running a 600 > 1000 Mghz computer with 256>512 MB memory AND a 1.1 USB,,, You don't want this high priced picture taker and is beyond the scope of your computer.

I'd suggest a minimum of 1.6 Ghg prosessor speed and 1 gb of memory plus 2.0 USB's

Geez, I wonder why they don't suggest that on their web ssite.

This web-cam works best with 1.6 processors and above, 2.0 USB'S and at least 2 MB's of RAM. It will work with 1.1 USB's and less but not well.

Cons: SAME:SAME

Other Thoughts: Buy it: It's the best available. Depends on where your Vahalla is...and how much money you have to Play away...

Rating + 5 Best I've had


Pros: Have owned 3-4 different web cams. Most were adaquate with bad color. This cam is BEYOND adequate. Color rendering is great. It takes pictures better than my 1.3 MB digital camera. A previous reviewer indicated using "Right-light" and/or few other functions made it slow down or became jittery. I have had NO slow down using all functions/highest settings at the same time. Slow down problems Might be due to a slow computer. Mine is an intl 3 GHZ DUO processor, 3 gigs ram and a cheap add-on video card. The AF is as good as a $200 camera. Not real fast to follow in and out movement but excellant once it gets there. I havn't tried the avatars yet and probably won't. I really don't know if it actually does 30 FPS but it sure is smoother then my previous "creatives" and a low end "logitechs" It appears to be well built and has a privacy mode if needed.

Cons: Could be $40 cheaper. A little high end cost for "laughs and giggles". Appears it only likes Windows.

Other Thoughts: The driver disk has v11.1 on it. Download v11.5 from site 1st and install. Pick correct operating system. Vista or XP only

Pros: I bought the webcam because I am far from home and my friends and family want to see me. It works beautifully and took about 5 mins to install and after that it's basicly a plug and play.
Quality sreams which is what I was looking for in a camera.
Amazing features that my orginal cam (that one who can't stay out of the media's eye) didn't have.
Quick, Easy to use, Simistic set up, Elegant design, and the instruction manual takes you step by step through each little obstical, great for someone new to computers or someone who has been around them all their life.
I didn't think a web cam could do 30 frames per second but I'm looking at myself right now in HD.

Cons: No headset. Most of the other webcams Logitech sell come with them. But not a biggy for me I just wanted to look like someone from StarTek or a PopStar who can't sing from the 90's.
If running from one side of the picture frame to the other chances are it won't fallow you. Walking infront of it works fine though. :) Oh and if you place the camera towards the main light, it won't be able to track you. But everyone knows not to take a picture into the sun, it doesn't come out right, same as this.

Other Thoughts: Logitech is one of my favorite copanies, and this being my first buy one newegg.com, I will continue to buy from both newegg and Logitech. I just wish this retail box could have come with that silly little headset all the other ones have.
I didn't know weather to buy this one or the one for the laptop. Chose this one because I didn't have to worry about it fitting on the screen or not.

Pros: Follows you around the room. Has a couple of neat features that maps different characters to your face, kinda gimmick-ey, but I love stuff like that.

Cons: Quick movements get blurred, but thats with most webcams. Taking pictures is really a tough task with a wiggly 8 month old, but that's why I have a regular digital camera.

Rating + 5 Fast installation


Pros: I installed the software, made a few adjustments and I was good to go. I called my son and told him lets try my new webcam. It works great with Yahoo Messenger. The microphone portion also works good. I previously had been unable to do video and voice at the same time. I have satellite internet. But with this camera it all worked.

Cons: Need a little more on the software.

Other Thoughts: This camera is a little expensive but well worth the money. I previously had one that the picture was grainy. This one the picture is excellent and my grandkids loved it. Great for long distance family.

Pros: Hardware works great, fast camera, looks good

Cons: The logitech software sucks! You will have to manually set some configuration or else the camera will not work or not work well. I turned off rightlight and the camera is now fast. I also disabled the auto zoom feature.

Other Thoughts: Logitech, get the software right! Some of the settings made the camera horrible. Previewing the camera was very laggy and had to change multiple settings and still does not load correctly at times. But seems to work really good now that I fixed it manually.

Rating + 4 Still going strong...


Pros: This video cam has last 2 house hold moves, 4 1 foot+ drops and countless base to telescope base changes. This has been the best cam I have ever owned. I have gone through about 6 total since the first black and whites came out years ago.

Cons: great focus under 2 feet. Still good picture over 2 feet away, but not the best if you want a real video conference cam.

Pros: Everything went together perfectly, has a great picture.

Cons: Some applications dont recognize the camera if it has been plugged in for a long time. A simple unplug/replug fixes it.

Other Thoughts: I needed this camera for a teacher at my school. He is deaf and i needed a VRS solution. Most companies work fine with this camera, even if they say they dont.

Rating + 5 Excellent Offering from Logitech


Pros: I have owned the Logitech Orbit MP camera and this camera is a step above and beyond. The clarity and light this lens picks up (with help also from rightlight technology in darker rooms) is better then any other home market webcamera out today.

Not only does the camera feature much richer colors, picks up faster motion, and gets all of the important details, color is represented much more realistically. If you're ugly this camera should probably be avoided. Unless you use the great software that will help blur and distort the colors!

Cons: Face tracking technology just isn't perfect yet. I hope someday Logitech gets the avatars you can download to work just a little bit better especially with mouth movements.

Other Thoughts: You won't be disappointed taking the step up over the MP. At first I thought this was just a minor upgrade but this is an entirely new camera with this lens and right light technology.

Pros: Really good camera for the price it being 2.0MP and has auto track mode (although sometimes it's better without). Works great even in dark room just with monitor brightness.

Cons: Would've been better if the orbit had a wider range of rotation.

Rating + 1 Dont Bother for a non-Windows System


Pros: I suppose it's a rather decent product on Windows, though I've had some problems with it on that horrid OS.

Cons: It doesn't work on Linux at all. The Linux driver people claim that they have it working, but I couldn't get the driver to work on my machine. And after doing some additional research, I realized that even the claim that it works on Linux is not exactly accurate. The claim is actually that it works on some level that doesn't take full advantage of the abilities of the camera.

Other Thoughts: Before buying any additional hardware, I'm going to make sure that the producer helps the open source community create drivers.

Pros: 5x better than my 6-year-old D-Link web camera in video quality. It can actually see the correct color of the lights on my Christmas tree. The old one was "color blind" and saw all the red/green/blue lights as yellow.

Cons: It does not do 1600x1200. The highest setting I am able to select is 960x720. The video quality is not nearly as good as what I expected. Dark room still give it some trouble, where lots of dots appear. If you apply that lighting technology, the video becomes super laggy, so don't bother with it. The face following will lose you if you make large movement too fast...although it does the job as long as you sit in your chair.

Other Thoughts: Skype web site had some photos of someone using web camera with really high video quality. Please tell me those are fake. Because this web camera has no where near that kind of video quality at highest settings. Maybe my expectation was too high...

Pros: I bought this camera for a conference room. The camera has great quality from across the room. The picture's are clear, although it's mostly used for video. This does swivel, but not very drastically. I would imagine this to be a great personal web cam, and probably the best for it's price in a conference room.

Cons: The bright light really is a bright light. With the huge overhead light, it's sort of blinding.

Other Thoughts: No regrets so far, easy installation, easy use, and great clarity, a 5 egg for me.

Pros: very good capture resolution, as well as auto light and auto focus abilities

Cons: although auto track is still very good, there are times when its just a little bit off, but still hits the nail on the head 9 out of 10

Other Thoughts: use this in my college dorm to keep in touch with friends and family back home on the east coast, definitely does the job, and the tracking ability freaked my roommate out the first time he saw it

Pros: Great camera, good quality, easy to use and set up. Very easy set up great for skype! Lots of extra stuff you can do with it. The pic quality is excellent and it works superb in low light conditions. Easy enough for anyone to set up and use!

Cons: At the upper end of the price spectrum but I didn't think it was too bad

Other Thoughts: I would suggest this webcam to anyone looking for a great webcam that is looking for quality.

Pros: Has a USB 2 interface and it has excellent picture quality in any light situation. I found the software package was very good and I had no problems with it as of yet. Installs very quickly and easily.

Cons: I haven't really found any cons yet.

Other Thoughts: This seems to be a great camera maybe even better than the newest ones that are out. Put them up in compare and you decide.

Pros: -Amazing clarity.
-Function and Form.
-Carl Zeiss lens does help
-It follows you (which is kinda creepy)!

Cons: -It's just a bit overpriced, but well worth it, in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: What amazing service, NewEgg. I ordered this thing last night, and it comes this morning! LOL, what's even better is this product. I'm not sure if it's a new item, but this is the perfect YouTube companion.
