Bass depth and response is great, and the highs are good as well. These have great construction, I feel like I could run them over with my car and still use them. Cons: They are uncomfortable, the sound quality for music is lacking (where are the mids?), and these are NOT circumaural headphones. These headphones are supra-aural, which means they sit on the ear and not around them. If you are looking for full-size circumaural headphones, DO NOT BUY THESE. Other Thoughts: Newegg should change the title on this product, because it is most definitely misleading as these are NOT circumaural. I was MUCH happier with a 20 dollar set of Behringer headphones. They were louder, had better sound quality and actually covered the ears. Do yourself a favor and save 50 bucks and go with another company. Did you find this review helpful? I've officially had this set for 5+ years and they are still going strong. This set comes real close to some of my friends $200 BOSE sets and I think for the money they said better. Sturdy, has been dropped numerous uncountable times and still stand the test of time. If you're low on cash, these will supply music joy for years. Cons: As with most headphones it's never the speakers that goes bad, it's the cord whether cut, frayed or whatever the case may be Sennheiser won me over by making the cord replaceable, which has been done 6 times over 5 years. Other than that nothing is negative about the 212PRO. Other Thoughts: Can't beat the price, can't beat the workmanship........all in all just plain great headphones. Did you find this review helpful? Cons: not noise canceling, still blocks out a fair amount though. Other Thoughts: the sound is solid, high quality, but not boosted. this headset gives you the best it can from the audio you give it, nothing more. if you want "boosted" bass or something, look elsewhere. just giving an update, would still recommend these to just about anyone. The sound is crisp and perfectly clear. Not to mention they keep my ears warm during the cold walks across campus. The bass is by far one of the best things about it and I listen to hiphop and rap which are heavy in bass and its just amazing! Cons: The long cord is annoying, but I just have it wrapped with a rubber band, so no big deal. Even though it gets annoying, its still nice to have since my desktop is on the floor and the cord is plenty long to reach it while giving me easy mobility. Packetgod Tech Level: average Ownership: more than 1 year	11/23/2009 8:52:36 AM Great Headphones Pros: Very strong bass, super comfortable, blocks out ambient noise, closed design helps prevent others from hearing your music and very durable Cons: Perhaps too much bass? Cable broke after only 4 years of use :) Other Thoughts: These are great headphones, I came back to new egg looking for a replacement cable as mine finally failed after 4 years hard use. I use these everywhere, in the cubical they help keep others from hearing me and me form hearing them, on the airplane they block out the airplane any neighbors, and at home they make movies sound amazing (especially ones with explosions). Great sound from such a cheap pair of headphones, while not as precise as other more expensive ones these have a great range and amazing bass. Perhaps too much bass but I can help that just by toning down the bass in the EQ. I listen to every type of music on these, techno and rock are great on them and classical is quite acceptable. PF5200 Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: more than 1 year	9/21/2009 1:20:38 PM Just excellent Pros: These headphones deserve their 5 star average. I have owned this pair of headphones since the early 2004. I remember trying out at least 6 or 7 different sets of headphones ranging from $50 to about $150, and took them all back before finally deciding on these. I was blown away back then, and still am to this day. They can put out loads of clean bass if that is what you desire (did my fair share of this when I was younger...), but offer a relatively flat sound without any sound enhancement. Very clear bass, decent midrange, warm highs. I haven't listened to Sennheiser's $300+ phones, but I don't think you can get much better than this in this price range. Cons: Can be a bit uncomfortable if worn for several hours on end, but for me all it takes is a slight readjustment to let my ears air out. I don't wear them for several hours at a time very often, so for me it isn't a large con. Other Thoughts: Owned for 5+ years, still original wires, earcups, everything. That's durability, especially considering how often they've been thrown in the bottom of backpacks, worn in the rain, left in the car in the winter, etc. The wires plug into the earcups, meaning if you break the wire, all you have to do is get a new set of wires. These also don't require insane amounts of power to drive, as my Zune 80 easily drives them and they sound fantastic to boot. Did you find this review helpful? Edward Plum Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: more than 1 year	8/18/2009 8:36:31 AM One of the best headphone sets I have used. Pros: In terms of sound quality, id rate these a 4/5. Everything sounds great, only a little less quality than the Bose Around Ear model. I listen to many different music genres and I was satisfied with how the quality sounded. It wasnt perfect, but I never expected audiophile quality from $80 headphones. A neat feature about these headphones is the ability to plug in the cables. In other words, they are replacable. The earcup cushion can also be taken off, should you need to replace it. Cons: The cable appears to be very weak. Every year, ive had to replace it due to the sound suddenly disapearing from the right headphone. I bought new cables from the website at around $8, but after I picked up on the pattern, I realized that $8 would add up over the years. I was careful with the cables, so its not like I damaged them myself. The earcups are somewhat comfortable, but dont really fit nicely around my ears. They cover them, but its not very snug, if that makes sense. Noise canceling is also very poor. It doesnt block much outside sound at all. Yes, these are not "noise-canceling headphones", but it would still be better if they could reduce more than 5-10% of outside sound. Other Thoughts: If you dont mind how the earcups feel or taking the chance of having to replace the cable every year or so, you should defenatly concider these headphones. They also feel very light and as though they were made of cheap plastic, but I personally care more about the speakers so it wasnt a big issue for me. They are quite durable though, as ive accidentally dropped and sat on them with no ill effects. This would not have damaged the cable, so im still not sure what the cause of that breaking was. When I first got them I thought they were cheaply built because of the plastic, but after a long while of owning my pair they proved me wrong. I bought a pair of HD202's to use for travel and sound so good I don't want to take them off. Sennheiser engineering department deserves hi-praise for their products. If you want to enjoy listening to your audio/video you'll won't be disappointed. BTW Sennheiser's are most recording studios 1st choice. Cons: There isn't any, excellent products! Other Thoughts: Make sure you check out the specs before buying and dismiss Hi-SPL because any brand will play loud. If you want it loud then put a trash can over you head and beat it with a hammer. Sure are rough, dropped them so many times. I once stepped on the cable when i was walking (cable is long) and instead of it ripping the wires out of the speakers, It detached from the speaker the same way you would plug in to an mp3 player, Amazing!. Pros: If any of you are uncertain of the quality of this product, consider this: I've owned this set of HD212 Pro's for somewhere around 4 years. Yeah, this model has been around for awhile, but there's probably a good reason for that - these are near flawless! I'm an audiophile on a budget, but I know what sounds good and what quite honestly sucks in comparison. +Great price +Bass is amazing on these +Not loud in surroundings during use, unless painfully loud for the user anyways. +Clear, detailed sound that brings out what you miss with other headsets and speakers +Long cord for slack in a stationary location +REALLY STURDY! I have had these for years and nothig has broke (knock on wood, heheh!). They've been in backpacks, dropped, taken on airplanes, etc. No problems whatsoever. +Not noise cancelling, but still filters out excess noise, thanks to (comfortable) ear pad fitting +Reasonable adjustment for head fitting. Ear pieces slide along inside of headband. Cons: Honestly, not all that much. -Cord is rather long if you're using it for mobile applications. -No active noise-canceling -Obviously bigger than some others, but these are studio headphones foremost in design. Other Thoughts: Really a wonderful set. They ought to stand the test of time for any of you prospective buyers, as they have for me. If you break one of the ear pieces off of the head strap you can just snap it back on. Cons: There are 2 wires coming out of it, I wish both wires came out the same side. This has a much wider sound range than my previous headphones (SENNHEISER PC 150). Pretty good price too. Cons: These headphones are extremely sensitive, and you'll have to set your master volume really low to not blow out your ears. Not really a problem for me since I never use speakers. Other Thoughts: I have an integrated sound chip, and with the sensitivity of these headphones I can actually hear the processor working. It's not too distracting for me, but if you really want good sound without the noise then get a sound card to go with it. Cons: Some might find the earpads make their ears too hot. Other Thoughts: I've owned a pair of HD212 headphones for about 5 years (bought them before I went to college) and I'll be darned if they haven't held up like a champ. At first, the sound is a little disappointing - but once they get burned in, it's a beautiful thing. These cans have moved to and from uni 4 times, gone to Europe and Asia, and moved across the country and still keep kicking - very durable! Pros: I like this set because it provides some descent sound quality. I used to use ear phones, ranging from the 15 dollar,rubber cushion, earphone,ipod earphone to dollar earphone. Don' get me wrong, these earphones rock your world and provides a very powerful base, but very unblanaced. These provides good balance in many levels of sound volume and has a nice ear cups that could be quite comfortable to some people for maybe half to 3 hrs. (hope these helps) Cons: The cable is about 5 ft long which is not really a con, nothing a good old cable tie won't fix but could get in your way if you are switching between your home stereo and portables. The plastic is not the best you could ask for though the silver does bring some nice look to it. The bass could get annoying because the insulated space between your ear and the headphone breaks off the air circulation, the compromise between stereo quality and comfortability.(Real criticism, you got some =]) Continue on Other thoughts Other Thoughts: They do provide some level of Dj style comfort and quality to you, but they fit kind of tight whether you have a giant head or tiny. The bass could get annoying like I said, but what's worse is the sound. This baby produces sound too realistic by that I mean, when you listen to some songs, like rock, it neutralizes the shouting to the level of the background music, which creates realistic sound quality as assume but also render you a false sense of quietness even turned to the max. The headphones are also very comfortable. Cons: Where are the guitars? The thumping bass is nice but if you like music that involves guitars I would recommend getting something else. When you listen to music on these headphones the bass and vocal drown out out about 30 to 40 percent of the electric and acoustic guitars from the mix. Other Thoughts: These are probably great headphones for Hip Hop or Pop music but are poor headphones for someone who likes any kind of Rock, Alternative, or Country music. After reading the great reviews I was expecting something a lot better than this. They're not bad but just not made for any kind of Rock music at all. I would rather use these than listen to my sound system. Cons: They do start to make your ears hurt slightly after maybe an hour or so. He does a lot of DJ and sound work and wanted a good set of headphones. So I bought him these and they have been great. I liked them so much I bought a second pair for me. Cons: They are a bit bulky but for the trade off of sturdy design and great performance its perfectly forgivable. They are however very comfortable. Pros: Clean clear sound, easy to wear, powerful bass, blocks out other noise. Great value for the price, detachable cord for easy replacement and untangling. Light on the head, doesn't squish your hair. I have tried my turtle beach and it can power them decently, my Harman Kardon reciever does a great job, most laptop audio will be a bit quiet. Cons: Too much bass at anything more than a soft volume, takes alot of power to run these, cord is so long it gets tangled easily. Other Thoughts: I would buy them again, worked great for a long drive while working to block out noise and give me music. The first time I used them they blew my mind. Amazing, crisp and clear sound, a perfect balance of bass. Awesome for gaming, music, riding the subway ^_^ Cons: Hmm.. Uh.. The cord is really, really, really long.. I mean.. who the hell needs a cord this long. It gets really annoying if you're travelling with these and youve got a mile of cords to untangle. You have no idea how many headphones I've gone through because the cable looked like it had been taken through a hurricane even though I kept proper care of them. Crisp, clear sound. There is a noticeable amount of bass, but that's good in my case. Cons: The fit is rather weird, and my ears do feel like they're going to hurt if I continue wearing them, but I've found that if you loosen them generously they are more tolerable. The cable is also a bit long, but remedied if you keep the wire tie and tie back as much as needed. Would have liked noise cancellation, or at least something more for the price paid though... I'd heard about the Sennheisers before and after a bit of research I decided to give the HD 212 Pro's a try. The bass response in these are quite awesome, much better than most cans I've used before. The mid range is also quite good, but the highs leave a little to be desired. Most of the music I listen to is heavy on the low to mids so it's not that big of a deal not having the crisp highs. They are a little tight fitting on my head (average head size) and the semi-circumaural pads are going to take a little getting used to. They don't fully cover your ears like true circumaural cans, but cover 90% and the outside of the pads sit on the edge of your ears all the way around. It doesn't seem to affect the sound any better or worse than full circumaural cans. Overall, I'm happy with them and think they're worth it. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Did you? I wore these things 12+ hours at a time some days, never hurt my ears or head. The sound quality was also amazing. Cons: One side stopped working after about one month, had to wiggle the cord to get it to come on every once in a while. Two months after that, the other side went out. Before these, the longest any headphones lasted was 1 year before they fell victim to rough handling. The sound quality is the best of any headphones I have heard, especially the $150 Bose ones. These sound natural...the Bose sound artificial. There is a saying: "Bose creates sound, not reproduces it." These sound as good as, if not better than the day I bought them. They do require a good quality sound source, which can be had from almost any MP3 player EXCEPT an iPod, which are among the worst in terms of sound quality. Hooked to an Audigy XFi Extreme Music card, they are absolutely incredible. I had to buy a new cord last year. It was $8 direct from Sennheiser. The ear cups and headband are starting to show their age, but it is only cosmetic. Cons: Price has gone up since I bought them 4 years ago ($40). I guess word got out about the quality. However it's not so bad that you can' hear great sound out of it! They're also very durable too, I've had this pair for at least 4 years and the worst that's happened was the insulation came off a bit on the cable once - nothing a quick and cheap replacement cable couldn't fix. Cons: Long cord is a bit annoying if you use it for a portable device (have to, too poor to get a pair of decent canalphones). Also they get uncomfortable after a half hour; My ears warm up and the way it's designed is that it lays on your ears. Makes for very uncomfortable ears. Given the general price category it's a nice value too. The cord is long and the ways they can adjust to fit most heads is very nice. Cons: While initially comfortable I found out rather annoying after wearing them for more than an hour. Because the ear cups are somewhat small, even for my small ears. They'll actually cause physical pain/soreness after wearing them for a longer session. The pain doesn't last after you have them off for a while at least. But when I've been listening to music for a couple hours when writing a paper or playing games it's a notable shortcoming. I've had headphones that get itchy because of the foam, but actual soreness from wearing them is annoying. Other Thoughts: If you wear these for only an hour or 2 it won't be much of an issue. It doesn't bother me anymore but i would have preferred them to be larger and have no contact w/ my ears. Other Thoughts: detachable cord is very nice. I stepped on the cord the other day and instead of yanking the sockets out of the headphones and having to buy a new pair, they nicely detached and i was able to plug them back in w/ no problems. MisforMetal Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month	9/26/2006 1:21:40 AM Pros: excellent headphones for the price. sound is awesome, i've seen complaints about the bass but there's nothing bad about it at all. i have nice surround sound speakers, and these are great when not wanting to wake the roommate. would maybe consider a upgrade to sony's MDR-V700DJ headphones if i had a little bit more to spend. Bass is clean and articulate, but it doesn't boom. Headphones this size are incapable of producing that kind of bass. Cons: I've had these headphones for over 2 years, noise cancelling and bass lacks over time. Other Thoughts: There is NOT too much bass! Compared to a couple subs in a car or home stereo, these headphones don't even come close. If you're an extrememly sensitive person than you'll probably complain about the bass in these headphones. Amazing bass, crisp and clear sound. Comfortable for the most part, noticed when i first got them, they didnt make my ears hurt until i took them off. Now they feel juss fine. I play a lot of CS and it is much easier to locate people with sound. Cons: ummm....takes time for them to adjust to your head to make them comfortable for long period useage. This is a small con. Other Thoughts: I ran sum bass test songs on the headphones and WoW. I could actually feel the bass. Its like have a portable sub in your headphones. Best headhpones i have owned. Pros: I just got these outta the box and plugged them in for the first time and wow... I won't be using my 5.1 for quite some time. Tech Level: average Ownership: more than 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg	6/10/2006 11:42:25 AM sennheiser brand Pros: I haven't really touched any other brand other than sennheiser for an expensive headset, i had logitech gaming headset and some other throw aways, This is my second Sennheiser I had a pc 150 and it died from me stepping on the cord and standing up at the same time. I wanted to have good sound so i bought these the second time around and a logitech microphone with it, These are pretty good headphones. They do have the bass thats good, but what really makes the headset good is the soundcard. Cons: none, xept cords which can get in the way, I fixed this with twisty-ties. :D Other Thoughts: If you have On-board sound, please dont consider buying a headset, just go for a sound card because it will really make the biggest difference. The sound is very accurate, with a nice balance between lows, mids, and highs. The cord length is nice if you move around a lot with the headphones(like I do in my apartment(plus the cord is mini-jacked into the headphones themselves, so you can always buy shorter if you want)). The sound of these headphones is excellent for both games and music, as the spatial orientation is very good. The sound-canceling is very nice, especially if you have loud neighbors like I do. If you run these on a decent stereo, you'll really enjoy them. Cons: 19khz top high range. I can actually hear that cut off, which sometimes bugs me(feels like the highs are almost too soft, it's weird how 1khz makes that much difference to me). The headband is a very simple plastic design, so don't be too rough on them. The 10 foot cord can be a bother, but nothing serious. Other Thoughts: People complain about the bass being too boomy, but if anything, to me it feels a little muted(perhaps it's because I don't play music with a lot of bass in it). While the headband is made out of plastic, it's actually pretty durable. I am bad about beating up headphones, but these have taken it and then some(I bought these when my last headphones died from the drivers coming loose, mostly due to me dropping them...whoops). These aren't the best headphones on the market, but they're probably one of the best options in their pricerange(if Grado SR60s and 80s weren't open-air I'd recommend those). All-in-all they're pleasing, but remember, knowing how to use an EQ will always help balance out a headphone if it's weak in any particular spot(this is true of any speaker though). 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.
