Good to go
Pros: Company is great, I only use LiteOn products in any system. Price is great.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: I buy Liteon because they last for me, I use it everyday to play games and watch movies and I never have problems. I bought other brands and they lasted a year or so but I still have my first DVD rom from 5 years ago and it works great. The only problem with it was that it was IDE and I want Sata now.

Lite-On DVD-ROM
Pros: just like it says "Lite-On". Works out of the box, no problems. FAST. Installs large DVD based games just as fast as a large CD based game.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Cheap, fast, easy to use DVD/CD-ROM drive.

SATA!!!!
Pros: It's SATA and works great, was immediately detected upon boot up. It's cheap.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I bought two of these, they both work great, no issues. It's cheap, and money is tight.

Farewell IDE!
Pros: SATA interface, no more massive IDE cables to deal with, so better air-flow in the case. SATA speeds. Ripped several DVD/CDs with it thus far, no issue what so ever.
Cons: None I can tell
Other Thoughts: I have always been picky about cable management in my cases in regards to aesthetics as well as air-flow (window or not). Not having to wrangle bulky IDE cables (round one sucked too!) into place is absolutely awesome.

Works good
Pros: Cheap and works fine. Seems like it takes a while to stop spinning down the disc when on reading it. Can be a bit loud. Asus dvd drive sata seems quieter and i think it might run faster. reads everything i put in it so far.
Cons: Seems a bit loud and speed doesnt seem as fast as the asus sata one.

Cons: NOT NEAR AS FAST AS STATED. This drive will top out a 6X even though they call it a 16X.

High-pitched noise.
Pros: It looks good, and Lite On is consistent with their bezel designs. I have two (one is DVD-RW) and they look absolutely identical except for more logos on the other. Response to being pushed in is quite nice.
Cons: It makes a high-pitched whining noise at high speeds. It's almost in the same range as a television being turned on, so a lot of people may not hear it. Tray mechanism seems kind of cheap, but no one makes a good one anymore.
Other Thoughts: If you're looking for two optical drives and want them to look alike, consider Lite Ons. Also, the bezel plastic itself is of pretty good quality and the logos are well-printed. No brand logo either.

SATA =D
Pros: Cheap, SATA, it works well :)
Cons: My case isn't black :(
Other Thoughts: It's a ROM drive, either it works or it's DoA, mine works, what else is there to say, it's a DVD drive and it works.

nice
Pros: SATA and not too pricey. I havent thought this was too loud at all and having a quiet computer was something that was really important to me. In my all sata build this is GREAT
Cons: hard to find a PSU with plenty of SATA cables
Other Thoughts: just add it to your cart

Faster than IDE
Pros: Shorter and faster than IDE drives. - Would recommend.
Cons: What?
Other Thoughts: With 5 hard drives, lack of bulky IDE cables are a blessing. - Besides, my IDE connector is at the edge of the board, pointing sideways (toward the hard drives), and not having to use that one was definitely an advantage, as the (bottom mounted) power supply cables run right up in front of the IDE connector.

Value for the money
Pros: SATA power and data lines work very well with the Intel 965 boards and assist with air flow within the case.
Cons: None found so far

Fast DVD-ROM!
Pros: Low Price Fast Fast Speed Fast Delivery
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I used PassMark's PerformanceTest software to benchmark this SATA DVD -ROM vs a EIDE DVD-ROM. The difference in read speed is huge.

Good Buy
Pros: Easy install, fast quiet reads. Works great in XP pro and Vista Ultimate.
Cons: Non
Other Thoughts: I picked this up as a second DVD reader. I was surprised to see that it will read old cheap media that I wasn't able to get to work in anything but the burner I burned it in.

Pros: Installed effortlessly. Good price. Speedy, quiet, works like it should.
Cons: Doesn't come with SATA data or power cables.

works great
Pros: Sata drive. Works with XP and Vista. Very quick. I got it on newegg.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: Well worth the money and you don't have to hassle with the big IDE cables. XP sees it at boot up and installed just as fast as a IDE.

Excellent Little Player
Pros: It's fast, it's quiet, it's SATA, and it's barely over $20.
Cons: None, though it won't play my 12" Laserdisks.
Other Thoughts: Ripping CDs to either Windows Media Player or MusicMatch Jukebox is so fast I barely have time to get the next one out of the CD case before the first one finishes. I wish there were more SATA burners available at reasonable cost.

Nice
Pros: I purchased this reader to use as my primary DVD drive, for watching, ripping ect. Windows XP identifies this drive with no problems. I did not even need to load drivers.
Cons: Downside this drive has difficulty with disks that have D-Skin on them. It reads them, but just takes a min to initialize. But if you are not using D-Skins then don't worry about it.
Other Thoughts: Bombastic

it has suport
Pros: its just a rom drive sata is it only pro it just a reader people it doesn't do all that much if it read your disk then its done its job
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: there support for this but remember it just a rom drive not burner so window default driver r all u need and lite on usaly set up that way so there is no need to get driver updates if this doesn't play dvds for u well it most likely do to a store bought dvd and cc protection and there plenty of progs out there they can take care of that try that before complaining about the rom drive

Outstanding performance.
Pros: *Very fast* and reliable (works like a HD), *Quiet* especially when playing DVD movies (you can’t hear it at all) Worth the money Bought two, one for me and one for my brother and we both love it! Both motherboards (ASUS P4P800 Intel) and (ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939) recognized it with no problems at all.
Shipped well...
Cons: It has only SATA power but that's not really a problem, you can easily buy a $2 converter.
Other Thoughts: Would love to see more SATA DVD-ROMS, like everyone else...

Dead Drive
Pros: Cheap. But I guess that doesn't mean anything when you're throwing away your money.
Cons: When my drive arrived, I installed it and fired up the computer. I saw it in the BIOS, but when I hit the drive eject button to put in a DVD...it didn't open. I heard the drive try to open, but it sounded like something was in the way. I tried the old paper-clip emergency ejection. Nada, the thing wouldn't open up.
Other Thoughts: I took it apart to see what the problem was. When assembled at the factory, the drive gears weren't synced on track with the drive door, so it wouldn't open. Actually, even if they were on track, it wouldn't have opened anyway. The Rubber band attached to the motor which was driving the gears wasn't even on the spindles. Unfortunately I broke a small connector when repairing it, so the drive just opens and closes repeatedly now. I'm overseas right now so it'd cost just as much to ship back and RMA as it would be to buy a new one. You pay for what you get. It's so true with computers. More money = better quality control at the factory.

Pros: Wicked fast at ripping DVD's! Playback/start up of DVD's & regular data CD's is fast with very little loading time compared to my old IDE DVD ROM. For the price you cannot go wrong. I would highly recommend this item.
Cons: None at all.
Other Thoughts: This item is paired with a IDE NEC 16x DVD burner. Waiting for pricing to come down on SATA DVD burners so I can ditch the IDE NEC & make all my optical drive SATA.

Pros: First SATA optical drive I've purchased. Works great and is virtually silent when playing burned or pressed DVD's.
Cons: None. Wish it were a DVD burner.
Other Thoughts: Hope this is a sign that Lite-On is getting ready to make more SATA DVD burners. I would love to change out all my older IDE drives to SATA.

eggcellent!
Pros: - cheap =)
INSTALLATION - easy to install - plugged in and it detected and worked without any problems. No bios changes or anything. - No jumpers and cable order you have to worry about, which is a step in the right direction
SATA - "starts working" faster than any drive i've ever experienced. Playing video or accessing data off of a disc is practically as fast as fast as a hard drive, the video starts instantly - some motherboards now only have one IDE, and as many as 6 SATA ports. Expect these drives to take start taking over the market like HDD's are now. - I believe you could install this without even turning off the computer? I didn't try it though, I have to take the whole CD bay out to install a new drive, so I shutdown to unattach all the cables =)
LITE-ON - reads all my burnt stuff that my ASUS started having major problems with... - it's quiet! Doesn't even make a noise when playing a disc, copying data, etc - seems to handle scratchs better than most
Cons: - Motherboards need to start coming with [amount of SATA cables] = [amount of SATA ports] on the board, or all sata drives should come with a cable.... so you may have to go get an SATA cable and SATA power adaption thing (I was already using the cables I have on hard drives).
- Poor construction; tray feels like it's going to break if any kind of accident occurs. Cheap & [too] light.
- Lite-On should've picked a better company name
Other Thoughts: wish there where some decently priced, non-Plextor, SATA burners available. Soon, I guess.
