Great product
Pros: My drive was build Dec 2009 with ROM ver TN02. This no longer has BlueBird functionality (criticized here multiple times). If you have a prior ROM version, just update the firmware from LG's site. The software if previously installed can also be uninstalled.
Drive is cheap and does what its supposed to do.
Cons: None

Pros: It's a DVD drive. It reads DVDs, burns DVDs, etc.
Cons: The drive can get loud when it spins at full speed.
Other Thoughts: There is no "virtual software" installed with the drive. This is a DVD drive, plain and simple.

Excellent Product
Pros: Very easy install, easy operation, great quality.
Cons: None as of yet.
Other Thoughts: The other reviews about some firmware on drive is false. As long as you dont install software there is no popup on operation of drive. I have used this drive almost 30 time in the two days I have had it and get no such popup.

Cheap
Pros: Maybe price? Okay DVD reader.
Cons: Poor performance and makes a lot of coasters. Found firmware update that helped, but still a low quality drive. LG on-line/email tech support is as bad as the drive.
Other Thoughts: Firmware upgrade helped but still has issues reading Disc's it wrote.

Works fine, what else to say?
Pros: It works. Works in Win7 x64, which is more than I can say for my last burner.
Cons: None really.
Other Thoughts: Not giving it 5 stars because it hasn't done anything to exceed my expectations. It works, which is what it should do. Good drive.

Good drives as long as you have no problems
Pros: Used nothing but LG drives for 8 years and they have worked great.
Cons: Had a problem with this drive locking my computer up when I accessed data. Replaced the drive and problem went away. RMA'd the drive and they shipped it back to me (same drive). They could not re-create the problem. Put it back into my computer and it did the same thing. By then, it was outside the 1 year warranty.
Other Thoughts: The whole LG RMA process was confusing and long winded. All LG had to do was to replace the drive (it cost more to send the drive back to me than it did to replace the drive). Since they stuck me with a defective drive and did not honor their warranty, I will look into other brands to buy from now on. Emailed their support explaining that the drive still had problems. So what did they do, they sent me a survey to tell how they did. They failed miserably. No more LG drives until they make things right and take care of their customers.

beware but good
Pros: it comes with adware, stupid bluebird or whatever. there is a software update to get rid of it, its decent. burns CD's pretty fast. i was hesitant to install it but when i did i had no problems removing that pesky software. other then that, i bought it for really cheap and got a deal.
Cons: comes with annoying adware

Good
Pros: Works well. Fast compared to IDE. Comes with nice NERO and CyberLink software.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Dont install the firmware updater program unless you want YET ANOTHER thing loading at every startup and connecting who knows where on the internet reporting who knows what about you to who knows who. Really, how often does a firmware upgrade happen for a burner anyway? If it stops doing what it should after an upgrade you can seek it out then.

Pros: Works great, reads all the homemade CDs and DVDs that my LiteOn balked at. No trouble burning either.
I have not tried the SecureDisk feature.
Mine didn't have that ad thing, so I guess they've started shipping them with the upgraded firmware.

Buzz Saw
Pros: None
Cons: It burnt 2 corrupt DVD's then wouldn't eject the disc. After rebooting the computer, the drive continued to make a loud vibrating noise like it was spinning as fast as possible....almost sounding like a chainsaw. Door would not open. RMA'ing it for NON-LG.

Great Product
Pros: Fast, dependable. I've never had any problems with this drive. The annoying BlueBirds firmware is easy to get rid of with a simple firmware update. Check the LG website for updates.
Cons: None.

Good Price, Good Drive
Pros: It's a DVD writer.. It works. It's fast. It's inexpensive. Can't say much more, haha.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Came with a gouged software CD (looked like it got sliced by a knife when someone opened the bulk box at the Egg), but I didn't care since I use other software. I just tossed the CD and didn't bother asking for a replacement. From what I've read, I'm not missing anything worthwhile. My drive came with version 01 of the firmware (which has the Bluebirds software removed). Nonetheless I upgraded to 02 firmware without a hitch.

Bye ye bluebirds
Pros: Good read and write speed for the price. Beats other drives in the price range.
Cons: There is the small bit of adware when there is no disc in the drive but it can be easily removed by doing a simple firmware update which is on the LG website
Other Thoughts: I continue to buy these drives because the minor hassle of removing bluebirds is worth getting the drives at this price

Drive works fantastic, ignore bad reviews
Pros: Drive came with TN01, quickly updated to TN02 (both have autorun out of the firmware). SATA is amazingly faster than my EIDE drive (also 22x). I assume that this must be mostly due to command queueing and less overhead for SATA than EIDE.
Cons: Media arrived with cut mark along the diagonal of the disc (back-side). Imagine someone using a box cutter and the disc took the brunt of it nearly along the disc's diagonal. Fine-pitch screws didn't come with the drive (but I have plenty from retired drives).
Other Thoughts: Amazingly, the drive read the damaged disc fine, and I verified the media twice with CDCheck! My other optical drives have difficulty reading the damaged CD. Unfortunately, no way to RMA just the install CD (comes with burning software, PowerDVD, YouCam, Norton Internet Security and other stuff which comes to 603MB). Contacted Newegg, but there's no way to RMA just the disc. However, since the disc was still readable, I should be okay, and this was definitely not Newegg's fault.

50 percent at best?
Pros: I have two of these, one has been service about three months without a hitch, the second see below. PROS: Easy connection, picked up by BIOS no problem, performs back-ups, quiet.
Cons: The second drive only installed Windows 7, a drivers disk, and then Spore, then it never read another disk, just a flashing light and 100% CPU utilization? causing explorer to crash.
Other Thoughts: I read that support sucks from LG, but I'm going to try anyway. Too bad I missed the 30 day return policy!

budget device with mixed feeling
Pros: Indeed, it is a SATA DVD Burner, so it's quick and very easy on your system. But,
Cons: suddenly, it started to write with 1.5x speed on 16x media... sent e-mail to support, got quick response (kudos to LG support). Except regular suggestion to update firmware I've got this: "did you use a memorex media cd? Memorex is not compatible with LG." That is creepy...
Other Thoughts: solid 3 eggs, could be five if it supports memorex.

Rediculous LG website encounter
Pros: Low price, SATA, same features as other brands on the market. You get exercise jumping through hoops when you try to talk with LG customer service.
Cons: It never played a video DVD on an ECS G31T-M7 motherboard. At first, we thought the problem was with the mobo. After updating drivers and bios, we switched it for a Sony Optiarc. Then we tried it in a Biostar TPower mobo, and it worked for a few minutes, then the screen was scambled. 30 days past, so I have to return this to LG...what a runaround I got trying to submit a warranty claim. Go to LG.com and see if you can submit a warranty, LOL, have fun.
Other Thoughts: I originally gave this model 5 stars because DVDRWs are mature products and most work like any others. I downgraded because of LG's website. I defy anyone to find how to submit a warranty return. For a company as large as LG, the website cannot be the fault of amateurs. It is purposely hard to navigate. I finally had to call a general number (800) 243-0000 and wade through their menus to find someone to issue an RMA which takes 24 - 48 hours. Not too customer friendly, would you say? No more LG for me!

Good Value DVD Burner
Pros: Works as advertised. Good value. Easy installation.

If your drive comes with "BlueBirds"
Pros: Great drive, relatively quiet, auto firmware update with LG Update software
Cons: Adware built into firmware (TN00).
Other Thoughts: If your drive ships with firmware revision TN00, there are two updated firmwares available for the drive. TN01 removes Bluebirds (the adware), and TN02 updates it for "Windows 7 compatibility."
Just Google GH22NS50 TN02 and grab the firmware from the LGE website.
According to LG, they had no idea this drive had the Bluebird software in the firmware when it went out.

good drive!
Pros: This drive has worked well since I installed it in July It's very quite! The first time I used it, I wondered if it was working! It's fast!
Cons: I think it overheated while burning a DVD once, but only once. If you can avoid installing the included software, do so! It's quite annoying when a balloon pops up to tell you the tray is open. Yes, I know! I opened it!

Excellent Product
Pros: Great product. Burns DVD's fast and without errors. Cyberlink software included is pretty good as well. Well worth the money spent.
Cons: None that I can find at the moment.
Other Thoughts: I own two of these drives. Both of them work perfectly and are simply plug and play. Nothing else needs to be done to work. The included software is very good considering it is included. Sometimes the included software stink and you end up having to buy new software, or the software is just a trial version. Not the case here. Great product. Pair this thing with the GTX 275, X58 mb and the i7 920 and you have flawless blueray performance among other things.

Nice
Pros: Nice and silent. Reads cds really fast. Burns dvd's audio cd's without fail
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Remember to order, or to have a SATA connector. Thinking that this brand would come with one, like usual ones you would buy at other store, this one doesn't. So make sure you have one.

Windows 7 bluebirds update
Pros: Fast drive, cheap on black friday
Cons: I didn't release it at first but the firmware on my drive did have the bluebird junk on it. It attached itself to the explorer shell and caused explorer under windows 7 to occasionally stop working. I upgraded the firmware
Other Thoughts: google shexview.zip to remove it from the explorer shell This drove me nuts for awhile since this computer was a new build and wasn't sure if it was completely stable yet. No other symptoms appeared under windows 7 like popups, but I use firefox mostly

It"s OK...
Pros: Works.
Cons: Noisy, with ratttles and clanking sounds when in use. Tray made with tissue paper. (OK, not really, but it is VERY flimsy.) Software CD insists on loading more than you want. Bloatware.
Other Thoughts: Too much hassle to RMA this, given the modest price and shipping costs. Otherwise, it would have gone back.

LG never fails
Pros: LG drives have been in my computers for many years and they never let me down. This is my first SATA drive and it burns flawlessly and plays flawlessly. Newegg continuously delivers top of the line products at great prices.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Many people are reporting bluebirds on these drives, i have not encountered it, maybe they changed the firmware, NO BLUEBIRDS NOW.

Great Drive For The Money
Pros: Super fast access time....Very quiet even when their winding up.You can't tell their even running...Amazing!....Nice and short in case you have a problem with space, their about 3/4" or more shorter then my old IDE drives....Burn times are very quick...Smooth mechanism on the loading tray....Buy this drive and you will be a very happy camper!
Cons: From what I can see on the loading tray it looks as though it has very small tabs for mounting vertically. There isn't much there to hold a disk in place so I don't think I would use these for a vertical installation.
Other Thoughts: These drives were quite a surprise.I have to say I was apprehensive about buying this drive with the bluebird thing and all.It had great specs and I knew I could get rid of the bluebirds so I took the plunge and bought 2......Guess What?....No Bluebirds! On the new drives the bluebirds are disabled so don't be afraid. These are the best drives I ever had bar none.I purposely waited a few weeks to write a review to make sure they lasted for awhile...So far so good!

Cheap, does what it should
Pros: So far, it's a quiet drive (thank goodness). Drive came with TN01 firmware (with the BlueBirds crapware disabled!) There's a newer TN02 firmware for Windows7 support on LG's site. Drive works well. Have not tried LightScribe yet but it should work! For the price ((27-28 shipped?) it's a good deal. For more, better off waiting for a BluRay model (at least one that reads BluRay)
Cons: None. Minor annoyance might be flashing it to work with Windows7. I'm not sure if you can flash it _from_ Windows7 or if you need to flash it from XP before installing it in a Windows7 box... do your research! :)

Will burn double layer disk
Pros: Low cost fast drive in my last review I said it would not burn double layer disks but it will
Cons: None really - this model does not support lite scribe

Great
Pros: This is my first time with a Sata DVD writer... Im very impressed with the write speed and the reliability. My old PATA's used to give me quite a few "bad burned" CD/DVDs. Hardware was plug and play, and was recognized Immediately.
Cons: none really...
Other Thoughts: Firmware needed an update so that it's "blue bird" software would be deleted...

FAST!!
Pros: I bought 2 of these guys when they were going for $25 each and i couldn't have asked for more. My dvd rip/burn time is now a third of what it used to be. there was NO annoying software that came with the burners, although i read a few reviews before i bought them that said there was. must have been updated. Also the body of the DVD is shorter than my previous IDE drive, so i gained about an inch and a half clearance......very happy!
Cons: one minor con----it doesn't come with SATA cables, but at this price it's hardly worth mentioning. I found 2 SATA cables on an auction site and with FREE shipping, only paid $2.00 for both.

works great
Pros: good at what its supposed to do, no coasters, use it on daily basis sometimes up to 8 dvd's in one day for work and no problems. gets the job done. some people complain about the bluebird thing, all you have to do update the firmware, i know it might be complicated for some or maybe some people are too lazy to do the update but other than that i would buy this drive again.
Cons: other than doing 2 minute update, no cons.

Bluebirds already gone on drives I bought
Pros: Good price for a SATA DVD burner.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I bought two of these on sale on Black Friday. Despite worries about the Bluebirds thing, both drives already had the firmware update version TN01, which removes Bluebirds. TN02 was availablefrom LG - needed for Windows 7 I guess - didn't need that now but flashed the update on both drives anyway, while I was thinking about it. Used only one drive in a Windows 2000 system briefly and it worked fine.

Excellent...if it actually worked.
Pros: It installed Windows XP without flaw. Fast and not noisy.
Cons: It died shortly after installing said Windows XP. Would not load a disc even if i gave it flowers...and i tried.

It works, flash the firmware!
Pros: The drive works just fine. Reads disks with no issue, and it writes disks with no issue as well.
Cons: The drive has a delay when a disk is put in, forcing the user to wait about 5 seconds before it starts reading the disk at all. This is not counting the spin-up time, which is entirely different. Some people NEED to update the firmware, and LG does not make a note about it.
Other Thoughts: For anyone commenting on the "BlueBird" function, there is an official firmware update that removes it's function on LG's website. Just go to there website or search using the fallowing without quotes in google "LG GH22NS50 firmware". Download the newest version and install it. It completely disables it, and then you have nothing to complain about.
I believe the firmware simply disables it, which is why there is a delay when a disk is inserted.

works as intended
Pros: good affordable drive, dependable
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: blue bird issue seems to have been fixed, ignore and do research on most things you buy on here. A majority of the time most reviews are done by raging nerds who have no experience.

...What you pay for.
Pros: Worked out of the box...(bubble wrap)
Cons: Trying to conserve my money to construct the actual rig, I picked up two of these. One started making a real high pitched ringing about 1month in then stopped working all together. This firmware Bluebirds is annoying adware as all others have stated. No use just takes up taskbar space. Oh did I mention they didn't come packed in a nice box, but instead came in huge balls of bubble wrap.
Other Thoughts: LG never let me down until I bought these drives, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Perfect
Pros: Is a SATA dvd burner. Not much to say, it burns dvds and reads them.
Cons: None. That whole bluebirds or whatever thing got fixed apparently because my drive doesn't do any of the described things.
Other Thoughts: Works great. Ran my Win7 install disk without a hitch.

Its a DVD burner . . . .
Pros: What can I say, its a standard average CD/DVD drive. Its worked so far. And for that, 5 eggs!
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Pretty much the only way you can be dissatisfied with this is if doesn't work when you get it. Mine worked just fine. Who uses CDs/DVDs anyway these days.

No Birds Yet
Pros: Does what every other drive I have does. Cost was lowest amongst DVD burners.
Cons: None so far. No "birds", but I also haven't installed the OEM software, so maybe it's in that. However, there are plenty of available options, including using Windows itself, so I doubt I will.
Other Thoughts: I used it on a new build, or rather I put together a computer using spare parts and a few new ones, and this was one of the new parts. I installed Windows Vista Home Premium, with the Windows 7 upgrade, and I have yet to see any Bluebirds business. Either Vista has blocked it (and I looked in the task manager to find it) or this drive shipped without it. Either way I'm happy enough.

Fast, No Bluebird
Pros: Very, very fast drive, reliable, absolutely no problems burning CDs or DVDs, including dual layer DVDs. Writes faster than many lower-rated disks are rated for but they verify and work fine in other drives. The Bluebird issue is a thing of the past. My drive, purchased on 10/20/09, had the newer firmware already installed.
Cons: None, zero, zip, zilch.

DOA = Dead On Arrival
Pros: not sure really... Came packaged in bubble wrap with tape and surrounded by packing peanuts. Got here quickly!!! yeah courier!!! don't want to cause trouble.
Cons: My drive had a large crack on the backside of the drive. Didn't work. Wouldn't let my system boot when attached to my system. Bios is as far as the system got, and I couldn't even enter setup.
Other Thoughts: Came with 5 of the same installation disks.? why? don't know. Strange yet over kill.
I have always trusted Newegg and LG. Newegg helped with RMA with extreme ease. I did a return. I wish it worked, I was looking forward to using this? but I can wait.

Firmware fix makes it a good drive
Pros: Does exactly what you expect it to do. It has read every DVD I've put in it, and so far has never given me a bad burn.
Cons: As stated many times before, the factory firmware comes with an auto-launching software called Bluebirds, which is essentially spyware. It can be removed with a firmware update, but that seems like an unnecessary step to have to take with a brand new drive.
Other Thoughts: LG has released a firmware update (since I can't post a URL here, just Google "LG+Bluebirds", and it should be the first result) that removes the Bluebirds software.

Actually can work
Pros: Nice looking and works well.
Cons: Item comes without cables or software. This should be clear but isn't. Also the Blubird software referenced in other reviews can be removed with a tool from LG. The address for the tool is. http://www.lge.com/us/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=GH22NS50&initialTab=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile Just download the update file for Bluebird removal. There is also a new firmware update for working with Windows 7 available
Other Thoughts: I really wish the product description had been better but over all I'm happy with my pruchase.

Stick to Phones LG
Pros: Looks like what I bought
Cons: 3 Things:
1 Doesn't work unless special steps taken to trick the BIOS from SATA to IDE
2 Comes with adWare on the Flash Memory of the Burner
3 more Hassle than it was worth. you would have to pay me 20 dollars to use this
Other Thoughts: Stick to LG phones

nice
Pros: none of that spyware on here that everybody is talking about, i guess they got rid of it.
was the cheapest drive available at the time.
Cons: of course samsungs went on sale a day after i got it for 5 bucks less like always.
Other Thoughts: whats with the ddr2 prices? i build ddr2 computers for poor people, and now when they want more than 2gb of ram, they gotta pay with blood.

The birds are dead
Pros: -Bluebirds is nothing -No errors or anomalies yet
Cons: -Remember that this is OEM - no cables or instructions included
Other Thoughts: I would like to address the Bluebird thing again. While I DID have Bluebirds on my drive, unlike many others, I received no popups to install anything or links to LG or annoyances of ANY kind. Bluebirds literally did nothing! I saw the icon in Windows where the drive would be but it's like somebody deactivated it. A trip to the LG website easily flashed it all the way away after, but don't forget to keep the disc tray open while you do it. Even if I did not remove it, I doubt it would be a problem. It reminded me of how in vaccines they tamper with viruses, so while it's technically there, it isn't going to do harm (though I don't really vaccines). Reading some of the negative reviews, they are quite extreme in nature. LG didn't know this was being done and it was a slip up, evidenced by the super easy fix on their part.
Don't read or write many discs but the ones I have done worked fine.
I like the price of this too, I think the bad publicity of Bluebirds knocked it down a bit.

WOW Guess I Was Lucky!
Pros: None of the LG drives that I received and installed had this "Bluebird" thing. I didn't install anything from the disc that came with it and I don't get anything when I close the drive door. Must have been certain ones or something.
Cons: None, they work great.
Other Thoughts: The only thing that I install with a DVD burner in the computers that I sell is the full retail version of Nero for my customers since it works so well. I never install anything that comes with the burners. Maybe that's a good thing?

Great buy
Pros: Cheap, fast, and quiet. Fits perfectly in the case. LG hasn't disappointed me ever.
Cons: No cables or screws, but it's OEM so make sure you have your own.
Other Thoughts: The newest revision no longer has that Bluebird adware so it is safe to buy. If you have an older one, you can download new firmware on LG's website to get rid of it.

Works as a dvd drive and has been fixed
Pros: It's a dvd drive that works out of the box....can't ask for more
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I bought two of these drives a couple of days ago (yes even after reading the bluebird reviews)(I'm not afraid to do a flash :P) well I had everything ready to go when I started up the computer and lo and behold.....NO BLUEBIRD......so I opened and closed the drives, and have been doing so for the past hour thinking bluebird will pop up eventually...but it hasn't. So all I can think of is LG knew they messed up by putting the bluebird firmware on their drives and fixed it because mine have no hint of the firmware, and they work perfectly.

Pros: Pretty quiet, not silent, but much more quiet than my old one. My system seems to boot faster with the SATA vs. the old ATA. DVDs burns significantly faster.
Cons: None so far.

No more blue bird
Pros: I bought 4 of these to replace my 5-y.o. dru-120A that started spitting out coasters 25% of the time. This was shipped to me in 2 days in styrofoam insert with 6 missing (factory box) to keep em from banging together. I have an i7 920 (4.2ghz with ht on) and can rip/burn 4 dvd's every ~40 min instead of 1 now. Long live Newegg! Oh and don't let the ~3 month old bluebird reviews scare you off. Mine were made in aug 09 and I don't think they ship with bluebird anymore, guess LG learned from that fiasco.
Cons: Not really a con, someone mentioned they were loud. Personally I can't really tell as I have vacuum cleaner fans on my cpu and gfx card. Noise canceling headphones f.t.w.

Pros: It works just as it should, no problems. SATA connections, faster than an IDE I'd imagine.
Cons: None yet.

LG Black 22X DVD
Pros: Its fast its black it burns and Reads and it was cheap.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: It has software built into it and loads when it doesnt have a disc in it...Kinda strange. The Software is for direct Drag and Drop like a Floppy, so some people will like it, I always think I have a disc in the tray so its kinda annoying to me. U can disable it but the icon is always there haven't found a way to disable that but oh well, its good if u dont have a Good burning program I use Nero.

Pros: I almost didn't buy this drive due to the reviews, luckily I did. It works great has done everything I need. The bluebird while annoying that it was put there is no problem to remove or ignore.

Pros: No longer ships with "Bluebird" adware. Very fast.
Cons: Software supplied with burner is marginal at best and crippled my machine.
Other Thoughts: I haven't seen this one before, but as soon as I inserted the LG cd into the drive, my computer slowed to a crawl and had to be shut down and unplugged. I mean absolutely crippled. Felt like I was on a 286 waiting for the floppy drive to spin up. The software isn't necessary, so I just ditched the disc. I'd recommend you do the same. All the other discs I have read and burned just fine, but that particular one was possessed.

No spyware included
Pros: Good burner, fairly quiet, does what it's supposed to do.
Cons: None this far, bought this to replace my Sony burners which both died. No mas Sony products for me.
Other Thoughts: This did not include any hidden spyware. I read the reviews about the spyware and found a removal tool on LG's website, so I decided to buy it, but there isn't any spyware anyway. Good deal.

Pros: Just for your information of those on this web site having problems with this blue bird you can get rid of it easy just enter the model number of the drive into Google and there will be options to download software that will remove it with in 5 seconds it saved me from trashing several drives my customers.
Cons: LG should know better than this as long as they have been in business and pulling a Microsoft trick this probably cost them 10 times what they could have made on these good drives.

Performed as expected
Pros: Worked like it should
Cons: none - no funny business firmware problems
Other Thoughts: New drives must be shipping without the previously mentioned issues.

Great Drive - No Bluebirds
Pros: Faster than my old IDE drive No bluebirds firmware Works great Great deal - 27.99 & free shipping
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I bought this knowing there was a 50/50 chance of the Bluebirds being in the firmware and i got lucky and got one of the good ones

Easy install, no issues
Pros: No issues. Works fine with W7, Vista, and XP.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: DVD RW/players are a mature product. There are no issues with this brand. I shop for the lowest price with free shipping and this is fit the criteria this week.

They kept the Software !
Pros: Great Burner that does many extra things like SilentMode, SecurDisc, etc..
Cons: Cannot do this if NewEgg employees do not give us the Software that comes bundled with the oem drives. When you order 10 pcs and they send you a sealed box there is a Software Disk and a SATA cable. Ok, so if you do not order a whole box I can live with them keeping the SATA cable. The Software is important and comes with every drive (oem or Retail Box) LGE ships.

No BlueBirds
Pros: I bought two of these drives knowing there was a firmware update. My drive came with the TN01 Firmware (No Bluebird). Great Drive, cheap price. Does what I want it to do. No problems! Thanks LG :)
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I would buy this drive if I were you.

Doesn't last
Pros: Worked great...when it did.
Cons: I had it for about 3 months. I admit I did use the hell out of it. Burning & what not. The generic drive I got with the case is still running. So U can see why this thing is so cheap.
Other Thoughts: I mean the dive itself did run fantastic but I really prefer a dive w/o SATA. Less issues which might be the main reason why this drive crapped out.

Nice basic drive
Pros: Burns Verbatim 16X DVDs at 18X using Img Burn. Decent performing drive for a great price and free shipping.
Cons: It is a bit noisy spinning discs. I have a GH22NP20 on the same PC and it's good deal quieter.
Other Thoughts: Snap to install, instant recognition in XP. You'll need a SATA cable. Shipped with the TN01 firmware installed. There was no Bluebirds adware to worry about.

Quick.. and loud.
Pros: Fast, works well, looks pretty good.
Cons: Haven't used a lot of drives, so I can't make a comparison to them, but at high-speed this thing is looooud. It sounds like one of those RC cars spinning up.
Wouldn't burn dvd's in Ubuntu 8.10. I got 9.10 and added a 5gb swap partition thinking it might use it as temp space, and then it worked. Not sure which was the problem.
Wish it had a gloss-black cover, but I haven't seen any that come with something like that.
Other Thoughts: I don't see Bluebirds or anything. It just works like a burner should in Windows (and the latest Ubuntu, now).

Very Good
Pros: Does everything it should.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Nothing happens when you close the drive with no disk, there is no Bluebird adware, that I have found. I don't get prompted to install anything, and there is nothing in the startup folder. The drive seems normal, and does exactly what it's supposed to, and nothing else. I am using Windows 7, if that makes a difference (about the adware problem).

LG DVD/CD Burner
Pros: Made by LG.
Cons: Seems a little cheaply made when opening and closing. The plastic disc trade seems like I will break it.
Other Thoughts: I thought this product would be great seeing as it's an LG but other than the cheap plastic, it works as any other one.

OK Now
Pros: SATA. Plugged in, recognized right away; performs flawlessly (unlike the [new] Pioneer it replaces; only worked about a week).
Cons: None. Perfect. Ordering more.
Other Thoughts: LG must have read previous reviews. "Bluebird" does not appear to be present; at least on the drive I got.
