Pros: Works great and prints fast. One of the features supprised me, that was that it can print on both sides of the paper. It does this with amazing speed. A great little printer over all.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I originally bought it to print photos, but it is cheaper to go to a near by store since the ink cost so much. Even with this revalation on my part it is still a good printer for the price.

Pros: Arrived within specified time. Was extremely easy to set up. Instructions were very clear and simple. Print quality of photos is superb. All components met or exceeded expectations
Cons: Was concerned that boxes were shipped as manufacturer packed, but no damage to any components.

Best printer for the price
Pros: Very good photo printing. It has two paper trays and it is very quiet. I have WinXP 64 and it works great with it.
Cons: Non so far
Other Thoughts: I like the power saving mode. I have it set up as a network share and it comes out of power saving mode to print, nice feature.

Cannon IP4200

Superb Printer
Pros: This printer package is nothing short of amazing. Easy to setup and a pleasure to use. My first color photo using the sample glossy paper was sharp and the colors were right on. However, what really impressed me was the speed of this little machine. The 4 x 6 print was ready in seconds. Text print speed is so fast that it seems as though the document virtually flies out of the printer within seconds. Also great software from Canon including features that integrate into Internet Explorer to allow for easy web printing.
Cons: None with printer! A graphic on paper input guide indicating proper orientation (face up or down) of photo paper would be helpful for first time users.
Other Thoughts: Super service from Newegg. Good email communication, fast shipping and overall the best in customer service. Why anyone would shop elsewhere is a mystery to me. Keep up the good work, Newegg!

GREAT!!!!
Pros: Unbelievable printer!! This thing is so fast, it blew me away... I was expecting it to take like a couple of minutes to do a print, but it was done in seconds... with "photomart" quality lol. Great printer! Great price!!! You can't go wrong
Cons: only one, but it's sooooooooo small, when you put photopaper in the casette (the bottome one), because of the way it feeds it, the rollers make SLIGHT indentations in the paper... but you have to look at it just right to see them.
Other Thoughts: 5 out of 5!

Broken after 4 Pages
Pros: Hard to tell when it breaks down so soon. I bought it because of the two separate paper feed trays so you can always have your second paper type available when needed.
Cons: Paper drive mechanism broke down after printing four pages of business cards. The Easy-WebPrint program does not work with WinXP if you have installed all the Microsoft updates to WinXP. Canon advises that this is a problem, IF you think to go to their website and look around, after wasting time fighting the script errors. Canon forecasts a fix someday.
Other Thoughts: I give poor rating to any device that is delivered broken or which breaks down quickly. This is a design / quality assurance issue.

Great for the price range
Pros: Purchased for my wife's computer. Like my IP4000 this is a great printer for its price range. Not only prints great photos but makes good everyday print jobs.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Does not come with USB cable, but then most printers don't.

Printer makes great prints fast!!
Pros: This is my first photo printer and i cant believe how real the pics look, just like they were developed and maybe even better since you can mod the picture with the software....
Cons: This thing squeals and pops and makes all kinds of noise. Takes minutes to get ready to print...make sure you select all your photos and print them all at once or you could be waiting all day long....
Other Thoughts: The included canon paper looks great. I bought some premium hp photo paper from sams club and it looks the darker images are decals or something... the canon paper doesnt show this... kinda wierd i thought..printed some 10 pics for now, they look great and i cant believe how blue the sky is and my camera is only a 1.3 megapixle and they look great..
The pics look way better than they do on the computer screen...

Best sub-$100 inkjet printer - PERIOD!
Pros: 1)Photo print quality better than Epson or HP and relatively fast 2)Separate color ink cartridges, only replace what you need 3)Two paper feed paths, this feature alone is totally awesome 4)Printer driver wizard works very well for most print jobs as far as adjusting the optimum settings
Cons: Have not found any yet.
Other Thoughts: I have read some reviews where some are complaining about having to change paper media in the cassette paper tray - load that with your regular paper and use the upper feed path for photo paper and envelopes. If your in the market for an inkjet printer BUY THIS NOW.

Best printer I've ever owned
Pros: Excellent photographic printing quality on glossy paper. Very sharp text. 2 black ink cartrages. Automatic on/off. Many well designed extra features.
Cons: The maximum paper width is 8.5 inches. Printer takes a very long time to warm up. USB cable not included. No parallel port support. Too many tray extensions and foldouts make the trays flimsy.
Other Thoughts: The printer has many features that could make it useful for a small office.

Outstanding printer!
Pros: Prints sharp text, and nice pictures as well. It's also faster than I expected. I particularly like the LED indicators that light up when the ink tanks are properly seated. Installation was a snap, and I had no issues on my older PC.
Cons: Photo print quality isn't as nice as it absolutely could be on plain paper, but still very good--especially considering the price.
Other Thoughts: You won't find a better printer for the price.

Great Printer
Pros: Great photos on plain paper, but prints on photo paper are superb. Laser-like text quality.
Cons: As with many printers, very expensive ink tanks, and Canon has joined the rip-you-off practice of placing anti-refill chips in them.
Other Thoughts: Thankfully, allegedly by March, compatible ink tanks will be available to offset Canon's dastardly deed. Don't they realize that they would put the compatible people out of business by simply pricing their product reasonably?

Good printer
Pros: Replaced an EPSON. Like this one much better. Faster, colors are spot on. I had to do some major tweaking on EPSON to get the colors right. Better driver than Epson. I tossed the photo software and use Google Picassa instead.
Cons: No USB cable included.
Other Thoughts: I expect a printer to last a long time was my final verdict won't be in for a while but so far I'm happy with it.

excellent
Pros: Price, solid construction, fast, 2 trays, duplex printing, long-lasting seperate ink cartriges, hassle-free setup, great borderless color printing, auto power on and off, quiet night mode, etc. etc.
Cons: A little noisy when starting to print first page but this is easily outweighed by the awesome features, ease of use and quality.
Other Thoughts: I picked this up for a friend and I liked it so much I bought the wireless model, iP5200R, for myself. I'm glad I finally took a chance with Canon - should of done so years ago. I've tried so many other Lexmark and HP's before and in comparison they suck! I will never again buy anything but the Pixma line of Canon printers. Do yourself a favor and get out of the inkjet printer hell you're in - get one of these already!

Canon does it again
Pros: The Canon iP4200 risies above the rest once again. I have owned a variety of printer and this one is the best yet. It has quite, quick operation and the quality is superior with 9200dpi. I have printed a variety of different texts, pictures, page formats, etc and it performs quick on all fronts. The Cassette to store the paper in the printer is an excellent feature on a printer this size (as well as the standard top feed system). I would recommend this printer to anyone.
Cons: The print quality even though superior for inkjet still isn't 100% like a laser printer. But nothing to get worried about.
Other Thoughts: The independant print cartridges are eay to install and have an excellent ink level indicator system.

Oustanding!
Pros: having two seperate paper trays is a plus. The print quality is the best i have ever seen. The borderless printing is a plus, especially when im doing my portfolio. And also that all the trays fold up nicely so that I can save some space on my desk.
Cons: havent found any yet
Other Thoughts: maybe instead of having a pixma enabled usb port in the front, they could put a card slot in the front.

excellent printer
Pros: This little printer is a pleasure to use. It is easy on ink, reasonably fast, and prints well on both Windows and Linux. You need the TurboPrint drivers for Linux, which cost about $xx, which bites, but you get all the features included with Windows- management tools, ink levels, and all the tweaks per print job.
It looks OK on plain paper, but really comes to life on glossy photo paper.
Cons: The CD/DVD printer is disabled for the US market. (whyyy? who knows )However you can make it work,

Pros: great print quality, great photo quality
Cons: the only one i can think of is it is a little bigger than my old printer. which isnt really that bad i just had to make room for it.
Other Thoughts: stepped up from hp832c and there is no comparison. first canon i have owned. bought it because i just bought a canon powershot camera

TOP DOG
Pros: Remarkable vivid lab quality prints just shoot out of the printer!! I have always owned HP printers and wasn't real confident in buying a canon, but thankfully i did and this is the *BEST* inkjet printer i have ever owned. It is also a great idea to have seperate color ink cartridges that are cheap, each color is only about 14-16 bucks to replace.
Cons: none! simply a great buy!!!! You cant go wrong with this printer, its the best in its class.

Canon Pixma ip4200
Pros: Fast, economical, quiet, stylish.
Cons: Slow duplex printing, no linux support.
Other Thoughts: At it's price point, this is a hard printer to beat. Sadly, it's linux support is the only thing that keeps this product from being the best.

Pros: Boy this thing smokes my old i850. I got it for the outlaws and I think I should get one for myself.
Cons: This thing takes quit a few cartridges and I'm not sure of the cost. Why do they keep upgrading to newer cartridges?

Pros: My first Canon printer and probably the best inkjet I've ever owned, I've had numerous HPs and two Lexmarks but no more. Photo output is lab quality. Photo print speed is exactly as advertised, 51 seconds for borderless 4x6. My favorite features: 1) 5 separate ink tanks; 2) separate paper cassette allows interchangeable document and/or photo printing without unloading/reloading the sheet feeder; 3) automatic duplex printing; 4) automatic print head alignment; 5) can be retro-fitted to print directly onto CD/DVD media (standard feature on Euro and most other overseas versions); 6) shhhh, it's quiet.
Cons: I have no major complaints yet but I'm not a heavy user and haven't done much with it in the not quite two weeks since purchase. Dislikes and quirks: 1) you have to unload/reload the sheet feeder to print envelopes, unlike my $xx laser printer; 2) ink is at least twice as costly as for the iP3000 (perhaps because aftermarket products are not yet available?); 3) I dread the day when the waste ink tank fills up (see "Handling Error Messages" in the manual) 4) utilities are imbedded in the driver and accessible only within the print function of a Windows app such as MS Word (a first for me but okay once you figure that out).
Other Thoughts: I'm happy with what I got for what I paid.

iP4200 Great Printer
Comments: I've had my printer now for a week. And it's absolutley the best printer I have ever owned. The price is fantastic. I've always owed Hp printers ans I was skeptical of going to another brand. After researching all over the internet (i.e. PC World, PC Magazine...etc.) The reviews convinced me to give this Canon iP4200 a try. I'm really surprised that it's better than what the reviewers wrote about this printer. It's fast, the ink is inexpensive, the set up is breeze, the software is better than what you get with Hp printers. I'm not sure why some people wrote that it is noisy, it's not noisy, especially for the speed that it prints out pages and pictures. And the pictures are of excellent quality using Canon paper. I recommend this printer to anyone on a budget and looking for an excellent printer.

Excellent Printer for the Money
Comments: I needed a good general purpose color inkjet printer and I did not want to spend much, so I researched my purchase carefully. The Canon PIXMA 4200 is a great deal for the $. It prints fast with excellent quality, and is not noisy at all. Photos are very good indeed on the included Canon glossy photo paper. I use this printer primarily for printing color graphics, business cards and the occasional photograph.
The PIXMA 4200 is well designed with a lot of attention paid to details. For example, when you snap in each of the 5 ink cartridges (2 black: 1 dye-based for photos, and 1 pigment-based for text), a separate red LED lights up for each cartridge indicating a positive connection. Canon techs told me that each red LED lights up steadily when the corresponding ink cartridge becomes depleted and then flashes when the ink level gets critically low. This is a very thoughtful design element that I had not seen in other inkjets, certainly not at this price.
My computer did experience conflicts with the bundled Easy Photo Print software however. It corrupted a WordPerfect driver and the Paperport software driver for my Visioneer OneTouch 5820 USB scanner. I had to uninstall the printer, WP and the scanner, then install them all again, sans Easy Photo Print. It took several calls to Canon technical support to get it figured out, but my computer and the PIXMA 4200 are now working flawlessly together. Despite this not insignificant initial problem, and even though I did not reinstall the Easy Photo Print software because of conflicts on my particular computer, I still really like this printer.
BTW, Canon tech support was excellent: courteous, competent, fluent in English, based in the U.S., and I experienced virtually no hold time (the "Maytag" factor perhaps?) on their toll-free support phone number.
This printer replaced a Lexmark Z54 inkjet which gave me nothing but trouble. I will never buy Lexmark again. Similar to what HP has now become, they seem more interested in replacement ink sales than designing the best printers for the $.
In summary, because of the intelligent design of the PIXMA 4200, and the superior customer service and support I experienced, I will stick with Canon products in the future. They treated me like my needs as a customer were important to them.
So, if you are looking for a high quality color inkjet printer at a great price, the Canon PIXMA 4200 from Newegg will meet your expectations. Thanks to Newegg, I also saved twenty bucks off the suggested retail price!

Way better than expected
Comments: I didn't buy this printer at NewEgg since I needed to use it the same day I bought it so I got it at the local office superstore for more than it costs here.
Anyway, I bought the iP4200 as a budget multi-use printer mostly for printing text and reports with some color in it. The printer does this job beautifully with every documents I've thrown at it.
Here's the kicker: I've tried the photo printing capabilities with the sample glossy photo paper to see what it could do. For a printer at this price range, the print quality BLEW MY MIND! For someone as myself who will primarily print text documents and reports, I was trully pleasantly surprised.
It's not a stand-alone printer with a memory card reader or lcd screen but if you're looking for a budget printer for general printing with the occasional photo print then look no further, this is the one to get

Comments: Im not sure why people are bashing the text quality, it seems fine under normal print quality. I got this printer to upgrade from an old 1999 lexmark, and wow what a difference. This thing does amazing photos, and prints color super quick with great detail. For the price it really is a great buy. With the MIR, even better!! No complaints.

Comments: Pictures look better than my friend's brand new ip5000... the contrast is crisper and the black is blacker. I called Canon and they admitted the only difference between this and the ip5200 is the 5200 has more nozzles so it print's faster. Save $50 or so and get this one. Easy setup... don't squeeze the ink cartridges and you won't spill them like the guy above did. The new automatic head alignment is quick and accurate... sure beats the manual alignment on my old S750. The included easy photo print software makes it really easy to print pictures of any size on any paper. The only negative so far is that Easy Photo Print can only hand jpg.

Fantastic
Comments: I replaced my old S520 printer with the IP4200. It has been outstanding, quiet, great print quality and cheap ink. I have been very impressed with all the Canon products I have used.

Comments: Out of the Box, opened the new ink cartridge and it threw red ink all over my carpet, shirt, and my hands. There was a pool of ink in the twist open cover, maybe from shipping. The black on the print is over saturated with ink causing smaller character to appear thick. Some web page, like the ASUS Bios Download page spews excessive black ink causing ink to smear on the printer and the paper which took a few cleenex to wipe off. The Photo prints fine on the photo Paper. I had to use Printer Property to reset the type of print I'm doing each time I change the Paper. I reloaded the Head and the Cartridges and same result. I'm calling Newegg.

happy with this one
Comments: not every purchase makes you warm and fuzzy inside, but this one did. Fast, excellent photos, auto switch or manual paper tray selection is very nice, good and simple photo software, all in a small professional package. Oh yes, did I mention fast? If she last for a while then i will have something to tell others about and the good old HP will be a thing of the past. And I do not know what some people are writing about. This printer does a much cleaner job on the fast speed than does my HP pcs on normal speed.

Only a few dollars more than the IP4000
Comments: Oh, too bad. I bought the IP4000 before this came out on Newegg.
And it looks like the same design.
with a spot for the tray to print directly to printable CD/DVD that's not included in the box

for Timbob
Comments: ok just want to clarify things timbob said for anyone looking to buy this printer. black and white text is set at a standard 600x600 dpi. almost every printer there is prints at that, and sure you could print black text at 9600x2400 but why the heck would you want to, now your just being wasteful on black ink. you would also be surprised to know the difference would be barely noticeable which is why no one offers it... secondly all you need to look at when buying printers is speed, noise, and dpi. the speed is amazing on this printer, the dpi is 9600x2400 which is second tier considering most printers are only 4800x1200 dpi. and well the noise is moderate but only because this printer shoot out 29 pages per min. if you increase the speed on any printer the noise will also increase. same for my epson. anyways great printer its almost the ip5000 except cheaper. have fun and enjoy

Excellent color printer
Comments: After using this printer for several days now, BW text is better than I originally thought. I think it went through several cleaning cycles or something and the text is actually very good now. Color photos on photo paper are outstanding. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to print decent color photos and graphics on regular paper - it seems a bit washed out.

Very good color printing
Comments: Just set this printer up this afternoon, so haven't had time to use it a lot yet. So far, pros are very fast printing, great color quality, and dual paper trays. Cons include average quality BW text printing, and the machine rocks like crazy due to print head moving so fast when printing a spreadsheet - no big deal, but you need a sturdy table. For printing photos on photo quality paper it's stunning, but for photos on plain paper, and BW text (spreadsheets, etc.) I guess I was expecting more. Just upgraded from my little 1998 Canon BJC-70 and was expecting bigger improvements in text quality.
