Hates paper
Pros: Great photo quality printing, lots of features, great print quality when it actually accepts paper
Cons: This thing simply refuses to load paper. It will take in 0 sheets or 5-6 sheets. When it does work, it will print 4-5 sheets just fine then suck up 5-6 sheets out of no where. I'm amazed any corporation would actually release this with their name on it. HP has gotten to big.
Other Thoughts: I just threw it off my balcony into the parking lot. No kidding. I just totally went Office Space on this thing.

Great Printer
Pros: Extremely high quality printing - Photos turn out amazing, as well as the pharmacy machines when you use proper photo paper Six Separate ink wells Easy Wireless setup Easy to navigate LCD Menu Sleek and modern looking Doc Feeder OCR Software to create text-searchable PDFs - Absolutely amazing for storing health records, car maintenance records, etc... stuff i kept the papers for and filed that are no longer taking up space on my floor!!
Cons: Typical HP bloated Software --------------------------------------------- I haven't had this issue, but my dad did, guess I'll share since he'll probably won't write a review. When he first started up the printer, it had an issue with the cartridges. Don't remember specifically what the error was, but it was something about the cartridges not being the right ones or something. He called HP, they sent out new ones the next day FOR FREE, and they were fine.
He also has it set to default print on both sides (OS: Vista) and it throws an alert every time he tries to print with a driver issue. It's odd, because it still works just fine. Just seems to be an annoyance.
Other Thoughts: I haven't done anything too hard-core with this printer, but I've been happy with it so far. Like Suicycoslayer stated, the paper tray is a bit small for people who do a lot of printing. The software will kill your system if you don't uncheck a lot of items. There is a very helpful review on amzon's page that gives tips on what to install and what not to install.
I do love the aesthetics of this printer, it really does look nice. My dad bought the same printer, and actually has it in their living room, instead of hidden away in an upstairs bedroom. My mom is kind of a n00b, and she's able to make copies and scan to the PC with no problems. Very simple system to use.

Perfect Printer
Pros: I unpacked the printer and followed the quick set-up and the printer was up and running in a matter of minutes. It found my wireless network with no problems. I installed the software on each computer and was done. Great printer.
Cons: Ink is a little pricey but makes great photos. Everthing is a little bit noisey.
Other Thoughts: None.

Last HP printer
Pros: Individual cartridge for each color ink. Can scan to memory card.
Cons: No control over what parts of the software are installed. Installer can't find the printer, ignores the fact that I selected network and insists I plug in via USB.
Other Thoughts: It seems to have a problem installing the fax component. I don't want to fax from my computer (I'm not even hooking a phone line to this device) but when the install of this component fails, it rolls back THE ENTIRE INSTALL. The corporate version of the driver "for IT professionals only" is also far larger than it needs to be (but it least it doesn't include the fax component. 2+ hours to install the drivers for basic scanning and printing is far too long. Last time I buy an HP printer.

Very good machine
Pros: 1) Very fast 2) Near lab-quality photo quality 3) Separate ink tanks for each color; reduces waste 4) Automatic duplexing; again, reduces waste 5) ADF 6) Good scan quality 7) Can print directly from a wide variety of flash media cards; can do some editing independent of a PC 8) Can print directly from or scan directly to a USB flash drive 9) Printing is quiet 10) Excellent web-based interface 11) Seamless network integration 12) Very nice web-based scanning capabilities 13) Inexpensive for the features 14) Separate tray for photo paper 15) Automatic paper type scanning; ensures you don't waste a sheet of photo paper if you insert it incorrectly.
Cons: 1) Black text quality is merely average in standard mode on plain paper 2) Scanner motor is noisy
Other Thoughts: It's tough to communicate in 1,000 words just how much I enjoy this device. It does everything I need it to do and then some; it does most of this very quietly and quickly. The only complaints I can think of is that the scanner motor is noisy (who cares?) and the black text quality isn't as good as a lot of older HP printers on plain paper in standard quality mode. That said, it looks much better in "best" mode on inkjet paper. I only use the included software on one of my PCs, and it works pretty well once the latest HP updates are installed. I've had no connectivity or paper jam issues like some other users here. I really like the web-based scanning capabilities; this lets you use the scan function without installing HP's software suite. If you choose the "text" scanning option, it creates a PDF file of your document. This is an excellent feature for me. All in all, I highly recommend this device, especially at this price. I will update if I begin to experience problems with it.

Looks More impressive than it is
Pros: Very fast especially on draft mode. Well organized and easy to understand buttons. Haven't used all functions yet and have not tried to use it wireless. Paper handling so far is fine. Some say the software is bloated but so far I've had no problems with it with Vista. Photo Quality on Photo paper is absolutely perfect. GREAT printer for printing photos.
Cons: EXTREMELY NOISY !!! If you're easily startled by sudden loud noises avoid this thing like the plague. I'm a cool customer and this thing occasionally makes me jump in my chair. Print quality isn't as good as my older HP 950 all in one unless it's in the BEST mode. My 950 printed better in draft mode than this one does in normal mode.
Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for 99 bucks. For that kind of money this is a drop dead no brainer good deal. It does what it's supposed to do but if you're looking for high quality and a machine that won't make everyone in the room jump when it comes on look for a higher end printer. Overall it's too soon to say whether I'd buy it again. So far, for the price paid I think it's a good deal. If the print quality was better and it didn't sound like an airplane firing up in my office I'd say it was a steal.

Best all in one for the price!
Pros: 1) Excellent photo prints...can't beat the quality 2) Fast printing 3) Document feeder for scanner as well as fax 4) Easy network setup (XP) 5) Duplexer 6) Fixed "low profile" paper feeder. No flip down tray to take up unecessary desktop space
Cons: 1) Paper feeder a little noisy (quiets down during printing though) 2) No CD printing tray like on 5280 (who cares)
Other Thoughts: As you can see by my few "cons", I feel strongly about this printer. I used to gaze at it when it was over $300 but now that it has dropped so much in price, you cannot find a better true "all-in-one" for the price. You simply cannot get a more feature packed printer considered high-end for the price. I have seen complaints on here about bloated software that is buggy and I am not sure where that is coming from. the HP software is solid, fast performing, and is not bloated by any means. It is very easy to use and very functional. My last photoprinter (Epson CX6400) had very weak software that looked like a lot of 3rd party "riff raff" crammed into an Epson shell that did not function as seamlessly as the HP does. One thing that is important to me about this printer that a lot of people overlook is desk space. The Canon's look svelte sitting on your desktop until you have to fold down the flismy paper catch that takes up quite a bit of additional desk space.

HP Photosmart C7280
Pros: It was a breeze to setup, no connectivity probelms, up and running in about 15 minutes. Most printers except the most expensive ones look and feel cheaply made and certainly not made to last...this one looked more substantial quality-wise than most that I have looked at. The photo quality is very good. I would not hestitate to recommend it.
Cons: Have not noticed anything significant yet.
Other Thoughts: I have been pretty frustrated with the quality of printers that are available. Most are not worth fixing when they break. I have about 5 printers in my garage all less than 2 or 3 years old. I did a thorough search of mid-priced all-in-one photo printers and this particular model kept coming up with very favorable reviews. I then searched for the best price and Newegg.com could not be beat.

Great Price, Great Printer
Pros: Great Printer! Scanning and Printing with WiFi is great! Very simple setup. Comes with very simple instructions and made setup a breeze!! I installed the software on both a Vista Machine (newer machine) and an XP machine ( 4 years old) with no problems. The disc does come with some bloatware so I advise doing a custom install to only install the needed software.
$99!!
Cons: Kinda noisy. I expected it to be a little quieter, but it no where near as loud as some of the printers I've had.
Other Thoughts: FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETUP. Some people have issues with this printer and its software, but as long as you follow the easy to follow instructions, you should be fine. Make sure not to install the extra junk the disk comes with. Also, I am able to print from Ubuntu with this. It was incredibly easy to set up printing on Ubuntu, but getting scanning might be a little more difficult. I don't really need scanning in Ubuntu so I don't plan on trying.

Nice overall printer
Pros: The quality is very good. I haven't had to change the ink cartridges yet and had it for a month, printing almost daily. Duplexer is a nice feature to have.
Cons: The drivers are setup incorrectly. When you try to print double sided it comes up with an error message saying you don't have a duplexer. If you click ok, it will print on both sides. This gets very annoying if you print frequently.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this printer to anybody that needs a good multifunction printer.

So far so good
Pros: easy set up, scans rather quickly, fast print, great photos, dosent guzzle ink
Cons: none i can think of
Other Thoughts: I have a mac, alot of mac users seem to have a problem with this product. I didnt use the cd to install i went straight for the latest drivers on the hp website and i have never had a problem using network wireless printing. it works phenomenally.

Pros: Price (bought it on sale and with coupon code), 6 inks, wireless, duplex, adf, ease of set up
Cons: If you update to the newest driver in Vista, you will get error saying the duplexer is not installed, just hit ok and the duplexer still works.
Other Thoughts: Set it up entirely wirelessly. Network it set up where the SSID is not broadcasted, wep password, and the mac address has to be on my allow list. mac address on the printer is found in one of the menus on the front panel. Set up was easy and printer worked with no problem. It is connected to 2 vista machines and 2 macs, all features work on all computers.

Great wireless printer
Pros: Fast install using HP's online download of basic driver, et cetera, and avoiding the full software install. Within an hour it was out of the box and printing its second test picture. Fast and quiet, too. And a great deal from Newegg and fast delivery. Couldn't ask for more.
Cons: None that I can see as of yet. Hopefully never.

One problem after another
Pros: Great photos and paper printing when it works.
Cons: After 4 months, I can't get any relief from paper jams and "out of paper" messages every time I try to print (when there is plenty of paper in the tray).
Other Thoughts: I wanted to get a printer that was network ready, wireless, and could print duplex. I've always wanted one but never felt I could afford it. So I decided to break down and pay for what I wanted and now I am very sorry I selected this printer. Wireless was a joke because it kept getting disconnected. So I connected via wire. So much for that. Then it kept getting discinnected when I wired it and I finally found the bug fix at HP - but that was way more time than I want to spend solving printer problems when I could be working. Then the duplexer software issue that is very well documented on the web - blah, blah. What a pain. I coul dhave lived with all those problems but now I get a paper jam nearly every time I print. When I am not getting paper jams I am getting out of paper messages when the tray is full. I am crying the HP blues. And the last thing I want to do now is call HP support which will put me on the phone with someone that does not speak english clearly enough.

DOA
Pros: Very nice design, stylish printer.
Cons: Right out of the box on the initial setup, I got an ink cardridge error for the light magenta cartridge. HP Customer Support is in Indi.a, so it was tough communicating to them. They were helpful though, they sent me new ink at 8:20pm and it arrived here in 12 hours (thanks FedEx). However, the new ink did not fix the problem. So they're shipping me a new printer free of charge and paying for the return shipping.
Other Thoughts: This is the first problem I've had with an HP printer. I am hoping it's an isolated incident. But, at worst, I got two sets of free ink out of it.

Great AIO printer with great price
Pros: Very high printing quality (both photo and document). Easy to setup wireless printing. Great duplexing feature. Pretty and solid printer. Nice LCD menu.
Cons: Never try to install driver from CD-ROM. Got paper jam for the first time even without paper. Problem solved after restarting.
Other Thoughts: Very good deal. Only $99 got from Newegg. No complaint.

Beware!
Pros: + excellent features + network ready (wired / wireless) + looks good + printer menus
Cons: - RELIABILTY is pathetic - very poor HP Customer Support
Other Thoughts: I purchased my original C7280 in March, 2008. I am now on my third unit and all have failed. The first two failed with paper jam issues. The paper sensor cannot be cleaned and when it's dirty, it mistakes regular multi-purpose or inkjet paper for photo paper. That wouldn't be a big deal except when it sense photo paper, it pops up a sprocket gear to move the thicker photo paper through the feed mechanism, which is not a good idea for thinner all purpose paper. Result -- paper jams for which there is no cure but a return for a refurb unit. Guess what? Same thing happens all over again. I was able to get about 5 months of use out of each printer until it jammed. NOT a good choice if you are running a small business out of your home or need a reliable AIO. HP Customer Support is the worst, at least the chat version. I'm off to try another manufacturer after bugging HP to send me a partial refund of my original purchase price.

great home all-in-one
Pros: love the wireless networking as now I have it shared with 5 computers in my house. It seems to print well and photos look good. I like the 5 color ink carts plus the black which gives a good photo in 4x6 or 5x7. The scanner, copier and card reader are a bonus.
Cons: Having some difficulty with an extra page printing between sheets using Windows Vista on two laptops. The other XP machines does not have that problem.

Excellent Printer
Pros: Duplex printing, excellent quality scans, individual ink cartrigdes for each color, photo printing quality was absolutely perfect - test picture looked like it was printed at a photo shop when using HP's supplied sample of photo paper.
Cons: Set up over a wired network. I used the "IT" drivers from HP's website as suggested other reviews. Don't waste your time with them if setting up over a network. Printing worked OK (after finally getting the PC to find the printer on the network for 45 minutes), but scan did not work at all (WIA is unavailable with the IT version of the drivers, and Vista has no TWAIN scanning capabilities built in). Fax and Copy control is also unavailable with the IT drivers. Stick with the consumer version of them.
Other Thoughts: Downloaded the latest consumer version of the drivers from HP's website. They worked perfectly. However, I would suggest choosing a "custom" install during setup to avoid putting HP's usual bloatware on your system. No eggs off for the con - I'm the one who decided to try the IT version drivers first. The consumer drivers allow much more functionality, and what is installed with them is reasonable provided you know what you are doing.

Good Printer
Pros: Very easy to set up all 4 PC's on the wireless.Did not use the CD with all the bloatware, just downloaded the drivers from the HP site and installed with out a hitch. Very familar with HP printers and this one at ninety nine dollars with wireless capability was a great buy.
Cons: None found.

Pros: Prints nice, duplexer, wireless
Cons: Very poor software.
Other Thoughts: I would not buy this printer again because of its terrible software. I have reinstalled the software about 10 times. The scanner rarely works (because of the software). The HP software also caused my computer processor to run at 100%, until I found a fix for it online that other customers had published. The software is so bad that I will never buy a HP printer again.

Solid Printer
Pros: Prints quickly. Excellent photo quality. Excellent business quality printouts (PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Two sided printing works well. Copies very well. Best price I found was on Newegg. IRIS software works very well.
Cons: Heavy printer. A little on the noisy side. Software will take over your computer if you allow it to. Print cartridges are non-refillable (COSTCO has the cheapest price for refills that i have found).
Other Thoughts: After reading numerous reviews about this printer, I was reluctant to purchase it but took the plunge anyway. I have always had excellent luck with HP printers (still use one that is 7 years old). I am glad I did. I had no problems what so every hooking up to my wireless network (read and follow the directions). I have a laptop running XP and a desktop I built running Vista Ultimate (64 Bit) and have had zero problems. The software suite is extensive and could easily slow down your system if you allow it to. Solution: customize your installation and only load the software you want. If you go with their "recommended" installation it loads everything onto your computer. Take the plunge and go with the advanced installation. I only loaded what was absolutely necessary and have had no issues thus far. I have already run a full ream of paper through it and working hard on the second ream. I have no reservations recommending this printer to a friend.

shoot me if I buy another HP product!
Pros: WHEN it works its fast and good quality
Cons: Most of the time if hangs up. 25% of the time its lost its Wi-Fi connection to the router. Must of the rest of the time it hangs up in one function or another
Other Thoughts: I thought that by reluctantly buying another HP printer that I could get aftermarket ink cartridge refills.... no way. This model has "advanced" cartridges that the refillers won't touch.

Nice Printer
Pros: Great photo printing! Duplex printing, separate ink cartridges, pretty compact and looks nice. I got a great price when I bought it on Newegg! PayPal refunded me 15% for using PayPal.
Cons: It prints well in all modes for me except the 'Fast Draft' mode. There, the left margin is not parallel with the left side of the paper? Works fine in 'Fast Normal' and the other modes.
HP software takes a LONG time to install and slows your computer startup. I moved the shortcut from the startup menu to the desktop so it only starts when I want it to.
I've experienced the random blinking Christmas tree lights a couple of times. It warned me to only shutdown the printer using the power button? I pressed OK and it recovered.
Other Thoughts: If not for the problem printing in 'Fast Draft' mode, I would have given it a 5-star rating.
I bought it because my wife's printer is a C6180 and it works great! Now, we can buy the multiple ink paks and save $$$.
Another reviewer said that you won't have the duplex printing option disappearing problem if you install the printer using the USB connection. Then switch to wired or wireless.
Remember that this is an ink-jet printer. In the duplex print mode, the printer pauses for about 10 seconds before printing the 2nd side.

Wow, great printer
Pros: Amazing quality prints and pictures. The LCD and control pad on the printer are incredible and the printer options available in the print menu are quite impressive. The bloatware software really isn't that bad, and it functions very well.
Cons: My only complaint is that when I want to duplex print, a window pops up saying that the duplexer is not installed, even though it does duplex print once I click ok anyway. Might be because I am running Vista x64....
Other Thoughts: Some of the previous reviewers have complained about several things, like speed and noise, must be extremely picky because this printer is definitely not too loud or slow. On top of that, it really doesnt go through ink that fast, even printing photos on photo paper.

The Fax works well, but...
Pros: Looks good, small footprint on the desk for a multifunction machine. Prints great photos, and the fax function works well. Easily connected to my router and recognized by both my computers on my network with the ethernet connection.
Cons: Well, as others have said, it is an ink hog, and the whole idea of this printer is supposed to be cheap cartriges when you buy them in a 6 pack. I have gone through 3 colors and 2 black cartridges in about 9 months. Besides the ink useage, the printer is horribly noisy and always prints a blank page when I print from my wireless connection. It also tends to manhandle the paper frequently. However, by far the worst thing about the printer is the bloatware that came with it. The HP software has my celeron completely bogged down - rediculous.
Other Thoughts: This is the 3rd HP printer I have owned, and was supposed to be my dream printer and bought it so I could have one machine to do everyting for 2 moderately used computers. I got it from Best Buy on a price match, so it was a good deal at the time, and I can't blame Newegg for my woes. It has bugged me enough to write a review though. I should have bought a less fancier officejet, but wanted the wireless.

Pros: Prints a really nice picture so long as you take pictures at a high megapixel setting. Scan functions work really well and it actually will crop the image to just be your scanned object. Overall, does exactly what I was looking for.
Cons: The software for this printer is terrible. Like other reviews have said, it is really buggy and poorly written. It is cool that I can scan an object from my printer and have it show up on my computer, but even that function is somewhat buggy. Aside from the software issues, this is a great printer.
Other Thoughts: I am still trying to determine whether or not I really need the software to run the printer. I think I can run it without all the chunky software.

Works great without HP software
Pros: I did not have to install any of the bloated HP software to get full print, photo, and scan functionality in Vista 64. The installation is simple enough that you probably won't need to read the instructions.
Cons: I bought it at Costco and paid more than the Newegg price.
Other Thoughts: I plugged the printer on and ran the setup. It immediately found my wireless network and asked for the key. I punched it in and it connected perfectly. Next I put the installation CD in my computer, but did NOT let it autorun. Selected "add printer", "add network printer", then picked "have disk". Browsed to the CD and selected "autorun.inf". It have me a list of printers and I selected "Photosmart 7200 series BT". Connected, printed test page, and Bob's your uncle.
Prints default to the main tray, but in Vista Photo Gallery you can select the 4x6 photo tray if you go into the printer options screen before you print.
Scanning can be done through a web browser. Just punch in the printers IP address and select Webscan.
I don't need, or plan to try the fax functions. You may need to install the HP software for these

Great Printer
Pros: Excellent picture prints. Wireless feature works very well. I installed ciss ink system and works great with that also. Fast prints. Vista/XP compatible. Price($129) 6 months ago when i bought it. Fax feature. Scans great..... ... Just Awesome printer with anything the average user could want/need Plus some!!!! Auto Feeder device works well also. Been using for about 6 months. NO REGRETS AT ALL. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Cons: HP software is terrible bloated and will slow down the system start up, especially with XP.

Horrible
Pros: Has page scanning and prints great photos
Cons: I hate this machine. First of all, HP printers were good, emphesis on were, now they can't even write drivers that work. I installed their driver, then updates, well one of the updates uninstalled the printer. Now I can't print or do anything. I can't reinstall either. GO WITH ANYTHING BUT HP. I have been loyal for many years, but I have had it with them. This is the second worthless printer that I have purchased from HP. Maybe one day they will higher some college grad programers for their drivers, not billy off the street. Don't buy this
Other Thoughts: Save yourself, if you are looking to buy, DON'T!!!

Pros: Very nice and compact and provides all the feature that are needed for any home office.
Cons: Not to crazy about the fact that it can only be connected to the network by one of the three available methods, i.e. wired, wireless, or bluetooth. I would perfer to be able to do both wired and wireless. Has a large footprint for those who have limited space, uses an area about 1 x 1 1/2 feet.
Other Thoughts: Installation was fairly easy and quick.

Catastrophic failure
Pros: Outstanding Photo quality. Printer looks good and appears well made. Lots of bells and whistles. I like the software.
Cons: Bought for sole purpose of photo printing. After using for 4 times it does not recognise paper(hp glossy paper) in printer in either the photo or large tray and will not feed (The paper sensors are faulty). On the phone with HP for 1 1/2 hours cleaned rollers etc. etc. HP offered to replace with refurb unit. Ridiculous I bought a brand new unit. HP customer service is pathetic. I called Newegg fantastic service I can send back and get replacement new unit from Newegg Hope this one works better.
Other Thoughts: HP customer service is a nightmare NEWEGG to the rescue Thank You Newegg.

Prints nicely but it's an ink hog
Pros: Prints nicely. Also prints pictures fairly quickly. Replacement ink prices aren't too bad.
Cons: Goes through yellow and magenta ink rediculously fast. I scrapbook so I often print a lot of pictures. However since I have had it, I have not printed that many pictures, but have already replaced the yellow ink, and the magenta, and both are about ready to be replaced again. Very loud. The default settings take some getting used to.
Other Thoughts: I don't understand how they say that the bundle pack of ink and 150 sheets of paper will print those 150 pictures, since HP's own website says that those inks do not contain as much as the regular ones. I have not printed anywhere near 150 pictures and have already had to replace 2 cartridges. If you print a lot of pictures and dont want to go broke replacing ink, this may not be the printer for you.

Great printer, but...
Pros: The printer itself just works. Wireless is great. Good quality print, scan, fax. Easy-to-use menus on the device itself, easy-to-load (and hard-to-misload) paper trays, easy-to-change cartridges. With multiple computers available, it asks you to choose which one to scan to. Etc. All-around well-thought-out, very good AIO.
Cons: Long, clumsy software installation. Heavyweight, buggy software. Sometimes slow to start printing; sometimes fails to print, then often works on the next attempt; sometimes forgets that it has duplex capability. Limited language skills from support -- always use chat. Does not play well with NAV. The only complaint about the hardware is its long, loud initialization on power-up or its occasional need to re-initialize itself (long, loud) in the middle of a long print session.
Other Thoughts: It really helps to have a dual-core system so that one processor can be pretty much dedicated to the HP software for 15-20 min after powering the printer up.

It simply works!!
Pros: It works on Ubuntu (printing only) w/o special driver compilation, XP, and Vista even Server 2003 w/ some hacking.
Cons: Driver has some issue with Hibernation mode. Software installation can take a long time. Won't install on Server 2003, but you can override it. Installation on server 2003 was a challenge, but it worked.
Other Thoughts: Connected via Wired Ethernet, and it just worked out of the box since. Only paper jammed once, and it was easy to unjam the paper via the easy access panel in the back of the printer. I have had numerous problem with the L7680 model, but so far so good with this one. The one annoyance I had is the error message "Host Service" has shutdown on Vista when coming out of hibernation mode on my laptop.

Complete garbage
Pros: Purchased with a laptop for $50 extra, as opposed to the $200 listed here.
Cons: It's complete garbage. I stocked up on ink when I first purchased it. A few months later, it runs out of ink, and the cartridges have some sort of date programmed onto them to tell my printer that they're expired, so I can't print. I kept cartridges from my old epson lying around for years and they still worked. If I want to take my chances with "expired" cartridges, I should be allowed to. To make matters worse, I was trying to print in black and white, I even chose black and white from the computer, and the missing color was Magenta! The printer said that there was not enough Magenta ink and that to print would "risk printer health". I really don't care about this piece of junk's health! I have a black and white ink cartridge, and I should be allowed to print in black and white. Even worse, it printed the last (it goes backwards so they come out in order) of my three black and white pages, and didn't complain about lack of Magenta ink until the second page, but no Magenta was used...
Other Thoughts: in that time! If this doesn't already sound bad enough, just wait, it gets worse. I figure this must be some sort of joke, because, seriously, what kind of imbecile wouldn't allow a printer with a full black cartridge to print in black and white because it has no color ink. I went to the webpage that the printer broadcasts (I gave it a static IP of 192.168.0.2) to check out what is going on. The page says the same garbage about risking printer health. I decide to restart the thing, hoping to do one page at a time. I still get that Magenta error, but now I'm running low on Cyan too! Fortunately, I had left the printer page open, which displayed all the ink levels. Yes, the Cyan level was a getting low, but when I decide to open the same page again in a new tab. Then, I am baffled, because the Cyan ink went down by half what it had been before when ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAD BEEN PRINTED! What!? This product is complete garbage, Im not even going to waste my time with a replacement/service

Loaded with features
Pros: All the features worked fine for us. Photo print quality is good. Options for copy, fax, scan are nice.
Cons: The software installed on my laptop kept the cpu 100% busy all the time (with this software you can access the printer in wireless mode). I had to manually find the program and disable to resume normal work on my laptop(two of my laptops)

epic fail
Pros: The hardware makes noise when powered on.
Cons: Two different Windows XP installs both had separate and fatal problems installing the printer drivers. One a fresh desktop install with all updates, the other my father's laptop with his corporate bloatware. No useful error messages on either.
Also found some reproducible issues with first time initialization while the photo paper tray had paper in it.
Other Thoughts: Bought this for my parent's so I was a little slow diagnosing the epic fail, I am no longer eligible for a return. So I have to get it working, and that fills my heart with despair.

Pros: Wireless and network ready, quality printing. Can keep 4x6 photo paper and letter paper loaded at the same time. The low Newegg price plus the rebate at the time made this a great purchase!
Cons: Little loud when first turned on, but not as bad as some reviews make it sound. It wouldn't stop me from buying another one.

Pros: Wireless setup was easy, refills are cheap and can be found almost anywhere. For those with kids, has many forms in memory you can print out for school work like, graph paper for example. Auto document feed is awesome!!
Cons: Little noisy, scanning to a device can be tricky to configure. The HP network device service was hanging on 2 of my xp machines at log on, causing the log on to hang for 1 to 2 minutes when the hp service would finally start. Had to uninstall and install newer software from hp's website.
Other Thoughts: I know I was a little heavy on the cons, but honestly the machine itself is a total all star, most the issues I have had is with the hp software/bloatware.

HP Photosmart
Pros: Works great, just what I was looking for, but more then what I expected for the price. Even my wife can operate it, and that's a plus, what more can you ask for, it is user friendly.
Cons: Wish it offered CD/DVD printing, but for the dollars, this is a great deal
Other Thoughts: I am please can't wait to see how many years of usage this will give me.

Printer does It All
Pros: Easy setup right out of the box. This printer really works good with wireless setup. Amazing picture printing and it holds 4x6 paper separate from the regular paper. Scans are really super. You can also manipulate pictures without even using a computer!
Cons: A little noisy but not enough to notice or worry about. Set it up wirelessly and you don't have to hear it.
Other Thoughts: I have used HP printers for a long time and they seem to work really good right out of the box.

Unbeatable Value
Pros: Everything about this printer rocks! wireless makes it easy to configure multiple PCs and laptops, and works in conjunction with USB. Print quality can't be beat; photos look like they were professionally printed, with super-accurate color. Also does double-sided prints, cutting document paper cost by half.
Cons: Paper tray could be bigger.
Other Thoughts: Bought this on special from Newegg for almost half the normal price. If you shop carefully, time and again you'll come back to the 'egg.

Nice Printer
Pros: Does what it's suppose to do. Prints photo nicely, network feature works, can configure custom menu items, (Don't have to be in front of both scanner & computer at the same time, can work directly off from the printer), Does OCR pretty nicely (A bit high on errors, but not the printer's fault). No chips locking the ink-level.
Cons: Scan speed a bit slow.
Other Thoughts: Shakes a lot while printing. Sometimes flashes like a christmas tree ... reboot it and it'll be fine

Does what we need
Pros: Ease of setup, great quality, a lot of choices, smaller footprint, easy to use, not real loud. Love the wireless feature! Got it on sale at newegg right before Labor Day and WOW, what a price! Could not touch it anywhere else for that price and locally...absolutely NO WAY.
Cons: None so far. We've been using it on what I would call an average use basis for two months and have had ZERO problems.
Other Thoughts: We've had HP printers, along with a lot of other brands over the past 20+ years, and keep coming back to HP printers. We finally had enough of a scanner here and another one there, printers of one type or another, often more than one on the network (home/small business) and a fax machine. We moved and got rid of it ALL and replaced it with this machine. We're very happy. It even turns out nice photos! Do buy your ink anywhere but in a local store. Like all printer ink, you need to shop around for the best deal. I was lucky to get a bundle with two black cartridges that ended up costing me just a bit more than one would in a local store. You don't want to run out of black just when you need it the most.

HP Photosmart C7280
Pros: Lots of features. Excellent Quality.
Cons: Software reminds me of Vista. It's huge, takes a long time to load, cumbersome to navigate, but get's the job done.
Other Thoughts: I have only had this printer a week after agonizing over it vs the equivalent Canon and Epson models. I settled on this one becase of the larger number of ink cartridges, features, and a great deal I caugt on Newegg. I was concerned about the number of reviews I read that slamed the software It is large, takes a long time to load up, but it isn't as bad as it is made out to be. In the end it works OK, though a bit slow. As for comments about ink drying, just get the fast dry photo paper for high quality photos, and you are fine. If you use cheap paper not meant for ink jets on the highest quality, maybe the ink doesn't dry fast enough but with the right paper its great. Plain color printing on plain ink jt paper works fine and dry virtually immediately. It isn't noisy either. It does click and whirr as all ink jets do, but I find this quieter than the Espon CX4800 I just replaced. No Major Complaints

Pros: Prints very beautiful high resolution glossy pictures and has a elegant look. Very interactive menu. Its obviously and All-In-One printer.
Cons: The scanner dpi could of been better and the printing vibration is really strong lmfao. I put it on the coffee table and it starts shaking like crazy kinda like a earthquake lol but its funny, so i don't think its necessarily a con lol.
Other Thoughts: Wish it would of came with more sample photo paper :P

Nice Printer
Pros: Fast, flexible and crisp printing. Two sided printing is a nice plus to save $ on paper. Fax, Copy and Scan functions work well also.
Cons: a bit noisy !
Other Thoughts: Black only copy from a color original is a NICE plus to save on expensive color ink when its not needed.

Great printer combination
Pros: Great printer, easy to configure via the web interface - had it on my wireless network within 5 minutes of opening the box! Very good quality. Will print to both sides of a page automatically. Scanner seems to be decent although I have had some trouble wirelessly scanning although I think that was a driver issue on my old computer. This printer takes 5 cartrides so it can be more expensive for refills but this results in better quality printing from what I can tell. Very easy to use photo paper and print photos in this printer due to the input paper tray - very nice feature!
Cons: Driver automatically pops up messages each time someone prints to the printer - I constantly get messages to my computer when my wife prints alerting me that the printer has paused as the paper is drying... I am sure this can be turned off, I just havent taken the time to look into it yet!
Other Thoughts: Cannot test the fax as I have no phone line - internet faxing over the wifi connection would be nice to see built in! I constantly get errors from the driver saying that the printer does not have the proper paper feeder installed for 2 sided printing yet the printer does it anyway... Bizarre! Would be nice to see either a sleep/low power mode in the printer.

Great Printer
Pros: Great print quality on photos. It has 6 color cartridges so you can replace only the color that runs out.. Auto document and OCR for scanning is great. The USB port and card slots are very handy.
Cons: You have to install the HP software if you want the printer to work well. I was expecting to just use the drivers with Vista 64. It would print documents, but not photos (on the photo paper). The good news is that the software is actually decent.
My friend came over with XP on his laptop, and although he was on my network he could not connect to the printer. He didn't want to go though the HP software install.
You cannot print .pdf's directly from a USB drive. This is too bad, because HP offers it on other printers.
Other Thoughts: I avoided buying a home printer for 8 years. I hate them. However, I am really enjoying this printer. It's nice to print rebate forms, checks, photos all from home.
Also, the scanner software is nice. I can load up a whole years worth of bills and scan them all to .pdf. It gives you the option to put every page in its own file or all of them in one. The software applies OCR to the documents so you can search the text in the .pdf's.
I don't use the fax machine. I don't have a home phone line.

Wonderful Multi-Function Device
Pros: Wireless connectivity, dual tray paper handling, print quality and most of all photo quality.
Cons: Sometimes goes offline when setup as a wireless printer requiring you to manually bring it back online.
Other Thoughts: I've had this printer for several months and overall it has been a wonderful product. Ink prices aren't too terribly outrageous and the print quality is wonderful.

Great personal all in one
Pros: Compact, fast operation. Can be used as a network printer. Good choice as a personal printer for an executive or for a home office.
Cons: Not recommended for heavy use or for regular use by more than 2 to 3 users. Low paper capacity. Printer seems designed more for photo printing.
Other Thoughts: I work for a Non-profit Institute and first went to HP directly to order this printer via their Higher Education website. Then I went to Newegg. Newegg's price was over $100 less than HP's higher education price. Plus they got it here in a couple of days. WAY TO GO NEWEGG!!!

Can't Go Wrong for Price
Pros: Overall, great product. Can't go wrong for price. It is loud when initializing, operating, etc., but more than compensates for ability, user-friendly menu's, ease of installation, and wireless capability. Photo software a little limited but prints with excellent results.
Cons: If your printer isn't recognized by your computer after installating, then reboot computer and printer. Seems to resolve any hiccups. Additionally, setup instructions--LAN, wireless, etc choices--are not completely explicite. Had to "test" a few connection choices to ensure operation. Wirelessly connected printer to router and networked both desktop and laptop to router. Easy-cheesy.

Love it
Pros: Love this printer, fantastic print quality, really easy to use, USB cabled to 1 computer and wirelessly to 2 other computers and no problems, did I mention the print quality? fantastic.
Cons: huge amount of software, update after installing. A little noisy but not really bad, seems to cycle more than other printers which goes back to the noisy issue.
Other Thoughts: Some of the software that comes with this printer is pretty cool, the smart select is nice, my daughter has allready used it a couple of times for school projects. Highly recomend this printer. Oh, love the seperate inks.

Software? Hardware? Problems
Pros: Excellent photo prints.
Cons: I purchased this printer for its duplex printing. I have it setup via wireless network. When I send a print, an error message pops up and states that the duplex print cartridge is not installed...it gives the option to continue printing on one side or to cancel. When you select to continue printing, it will print on both sides. The software setup recognizes that duplex printing is installed. HP customer support states that it is just a glitch and the printer is fine, just accept the glitch. That annoying error message everytime I want to print is NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!
Other Thoughts: Very slow communications. When I send a print, it takes over a minute before it is ready to acknowledge printing has started.

Pros: the photo printing is better then most printers out there for the price and printing is about the as outhers the lcd is layed out good and user frendley. i also like the 6 ink tanks!!easy to install ink tanks. the printer is slow to initialize . my fix for that is to just leave it on!
Cons: n/a
Other Thoughts: this well worth the money!!!

Everything I need and more...
Pros: Wireless printing, wireless printing, wireless printing. Very easy to setup wireless printing. great photo quality for being a MFC. The seperated color ink cartridges are going to save me money and make HP a lot. Easy to use UI. Double sidded printing. No problems in Vista 64-bit. Oh, did I mention wireless printing which means one less cable.
Cons: The software that comes with it I have only noticed one bug. It keeps telling me the duplex attachment is not installed and so print will not be printed double sided, even thought the attachment is on there. Just continue to print and it will print double sided. Also you have to go into the printer properties to select double sided printing. Loss of one egg because of that, its kinda annoying to click an extra two or three buttons when there can be on check box on the printing menu.
Other Thoughts: Awesome printer, great price, HP printer=long life. Last printer lasted me 5 years and still working, but I saw this and indulged.

Great deal
Pros: +Most comprehensive feature set +Individual color cartridges +Fast draft mode will spit pages out so fast they fly onto the floor (that is until you realize the clever HP engineers already built-in the fix--you just have to flip up the paper guard)
Cons: -Some tasks take excessively long (ink mixing on boot; scan to USB for example) -A lot of price variance (refurbs cost 1/3 the price) -Software bloat (Why does HP need to check for updates when booting? Why don't they use Window's update instead of wasting memory & CPU cycles with their own substandard update tools?) -Pages stick on output tray (on the clear plastic insert) unless you leave at least one page there at all times
Other Thoughts: Newegg has a great buy here on the non-refurb model. Like other reviewers, I've been carrying a grudge against HP since my perfectly good G85 didn't get Vista support (at least until Microsoft came out with the compatibility pack). I'm finally content with HP once again with this printer. Also don't consider getting the C7250 over this model. This model has the same features but faster and includes the duplexer for a few bucks cheaper (on NewEgg). I own both the C7250 and C7280 (refurb). I could not pass up the price on the later and I can honestly say it is hands down the best printer I've owned from HP. While HP has never gotten it perfect (typically their software is bad), they certainly are doing the best job out there. Also, you can use the Microsoft C7200 reference drivers if you want to avoid the bloat (so far they work well, with only one bug when using the duplex feature--it pops up an error message that you can just ignore).

I like this Printer
Pros: I have owned a similar printer (HP C5180) but I didn't like it couldn't scan a bunch of documents at once without me changing it in and out. This printer handles that problem and doesn't seem to be as buggy either. I would recommend this printer. This is a great printer especially if you are at a small network that many need to get access to it. That is how I use it and it works great!
Cons: Software will take a little getting used to it. I just wish you could scan legal size paper on this.

GREAT PRINTER
Pros: 1.Fast Setup (30 min to an hour) 2. Software easily installed (Mac and PC) 3. Printer was recognozed immediately through Bonjour with mac and wireless router trhough PC 3.Photos transferred eaisly form my Compact Flas card to Iphoto and the hp photosmart software.
Cons: 1. Can't find a way to print photos from the photo tray with Iphoto (Still working on that there has to be a way)
Other Thoughts: For any user this is easiest setup I have ever done on a printer. I do not think the printer prints loudly, but I have had another hp all in-one that was louder than this so. The feaures are wonderful and the photos I have printed so far have turned out great. Hp has done a beautiful job of integrating there photosmart technology into an all in one printer. Thanks HP for making this printer that is FULLY compatible with MAC. UNLIKE EPSON PRINTERS.

Warranty? What Warranty?
Pros: Nice while it lasted..... Scan to computer with installed software or to USB stick..
Cons: Cyan printhead crapped out 45 days in to ownership. Spend 1.5 hours on phone with HP support and when they determined it was hardware failure they said they were checking warranty status and we were mysteriously disconnected.....
Other Thoughts: This is probably the last HP product I will own. I only bought this because HP's greed stopped them from making a driver for my prior printer for Vista and so I needed a new one and it was a good excuse to get a multifunction. Now this Piece craps out and I will get a refurb with who knows what kind of mileage on the print head.

HP Photosmart C7280 All-In-One
Pros: Excellent quality printing and prints. Easy installation. Just follow the step by step instructions. Printer has a digital imaging monitor right on the device that is very helpful.
Cons: As of this review, I have not found any cons.
Other Thoughts: Would highly recommend.

Perfect
Pros: I am a big time Linux user and researched a good printer. This unit was highly recommended for its compatibility with Linux. Plugged it in, configured the wireless, and added it to my existing PCLinuxOS install via HPLIP, and was printing and scanning wireless in 15 minutes. The quality of the scans as well as prints is more than expected. The fax should work, but I cannot verify since I do not have a PSTN.
Cons: The only con that I have at this point is the scan bed is a bit noisy. For my Linux install, the card reader is not working. Probably because its wireless. If it was setup as USB, it should be fine. No biggie though.
Other Thoughts: If you a Linux user and looking for an all-in-one printer, scanner, fax - this is the one for you.

My opinion on the C7280
Pros: Separate color ink cartridges. No wasted ink ! Software cleans up damaged photo's nicely. Document feed tray much more solidly and securely mounted than on my old HP 6110xi.
Cons: After installing associated software, total load time for all utilities/services after login increased from 15-20 seconds to about 30-35 seconds. I guess you'd call it bloatware ;)
Other Thoughts: Although it didn't hurt to have purchased a spare set of cartridges. As theorized by another reviewer, the supplied ink cartridges are not solely for the purpose of "priming the pump". The print head goes to the cartridges as needed to resupply itself. The printer monitors/estimates the amount of ink left in each cartridge. As for difficulty setting up/installing software for this product. I would say Vista is the culprit. There may or may not be issues with 64 bit versus 32 bit OS's. I'm running 32 bit XP Home. The only software trouble I've had is with the Solution center. When attempting to scan a photo or document through the solution center. I get the following error message: HP CUE Scanning flow component has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I was happy with my HP 6110xi....... Until my cat attacked it :)
I was helping someone set up their own 6110xi . I sent a test fax to my machine. When I returned home, I found my machine lying on its back on my hardwood floor

Great value but anoying drivers
Pros: Very fast printer. Easy to use copy function. Simple set up on Ethernet. Great price from Newegg (119). Bought it because my Epsom scanner died.
Cons: You have to ignore the pop-up that the Duplexer module is missing and let it print anyway -- it still uses the duplexer
Other Thoughts: with HP firing everyone, it seems like they may not fix this bug

Great AIO printer for the price
Pros: I would give 5 stars for this printer according to the price, but I gave it 4 stars according to functionality Easy to set up (I downloaded the driver from HP website, only driver no junk) Every connection (USB, Ethernet, and Wireless) works like charm. Very Very Fast and quiet enough Printing. Scan, Copy, print without turn on PC Duplex Printing Fantastic photo printing with HP Photo Papers ( I also tested with Kodak Paper, and the results is good too.)
Cons: Scanning is really noisy, and sometimes hangs during transfer the image to pc when I scan with the highest dpi
Other Thoughts: I recommend people who bought or are going to buy this printer should download the driver from HP support website (Try with the driver only)

Pros: Great price for an all-in-one printer. Easy set-up. Looks good and works good. The printed results are excellent and the photos look great.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I am running this wireless as I have a home wireless network. It's great!! My PC is an HP, but I don't think it matters. This printer is a must buy for the price.

Hard to set up, but worth it
Pros: Overall its a very good printer. The multiple inks are handy, and relatively inexpensive. I like that it has a print head, not something u find on most home printer, usually the cartridge has the printhead on it, and so it costs more. The software has worked very well for me. Network printing is great, and so is the 2 sided function, saving a lot of paper on notes.
Cons: Nearly went insane trying to set it up. First it was not detecting an ink cartridge, then it said that they were used and had to be replaced. Went out and bought new ones, solving the problem, but then the 2 sided accesory wasn't working. To say the least, it was not an easy set up.
Other Thoughts: Once everything was installed and working correctly, it has run beautifully ever since. I got mine on sale, otherwise not sure I would have been so happy about it, but if I had the extra money I woulda bought it either way. One thing to note, from what I understand, the provided cartridges are specially for setup, since it has to pump the stuff into the print head. So you may need an extra set to put in once it is done setting itself up. Also, make sure you have the 2 sided accessory properly installed when installing the software. I get a message everytime asking me if it is installed cause I failed to do so. BTW, I am using windows vista 64bit and the drivers work fine.

good value all in one printer
Pros: -wireless networking with WPA support -wireless setup wizard makes network connection easy -individual ink cartridges -automatic document feeder for scanner and fax -duplexer included -color display -memory card and usb drive connections -no pc required to copy/fax/print directly from unit
Cons: -ink tanks smaller than officejet K series -photo cost per print is higher than going to retail or web -windows driver install requires agreeing to have software installed that auto checks for updates and sends some data to hp -full feature drive is overloaded with software , I use the basic driver
Other Thoughts: Setup of the printer is relatively quick and easy, it took less than 1 hour for me. This includes unpacking, installing ink and paper, downloading latest driver from hp, completing printer initialization, setting up wireless networking and testing. Photo printing is good . scanning is good and adequate for most uses. Those looking for professional quality may not be satisfied. Basic printing is supported under Linux, I tested with Fedora 9. This printer has a good feature set for an attractive price and overall is a great value.

This printer is awesome!
Pros: This printer is a must to have! You can print from every computer on your house/office without to connect the usb cable to the printer, you have to use the wireless network and that's all.
Cons: It takes some times to windows vista to reconnect the printer if you turn the pc before the printer gets the wireless connection, but not sure if it's problem of the printer's software or vista. Anyway, just click on the "fix" button when the HP software shows there's a problem and it will try to reconnect.
Other Thoughts: Plus to all the obvious features, you can put memory cards on the printer and access the files through any computer on the network too.

Pros: Tons of features. Worked great on WinXP.
Cons: When running on Vista x86 or x64 going into standby makes this printer go offline, running it through network. The only way to fix it is to delete the printer and add it again. Also after months of owning it, it now spews out a blank page before it prints. A lot of the times it does half a page and just locks up. Requiring me to unplug the machine and plug it back in.
Other Thoughts: After getting some tech help through hp.com, they advised me to install the printer as a Deskjet 920. After installing those drivers it no longer spewed out the papers. It is acting up again on me though after a few weeks from using those drivers. I think the primary issue is faulty drivers with Vista.

Easy to set up and excellent printing
Pros: This is an easy printer to set up. Software drivers are lacking in the xp64 arena. You'll have to go onto HP site for the updated drivers. Wireless picks up on WPA2 well and linked without difficulty. Print time from hibernation is negligent. The scan utility is a bit slow but to be exspected. All around an excellent buy with terrific versatility.
Cons: None that I can see at this point.
Other Thoughts: With any printer the drivers are always the battle. Suggest that you go to HP and download drivers from there instead of trying the provided disk.

HP Photosmart C7280
Pros: All-in-one printer that puts out lab-quality pictures. I can send a fax from home now!!! Newegg had a price I couldn't pass on for this printer. Six ink cartridges only have to replace the one that is empty.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I should have bought two for what they sold it for.

Wireless Works
Pros: If you are looking for a network capable All-In-One Color Printer, this is it. I was concerned that connecting to this printer using my wireless network would not allow the full functionality of the printer, but everything works just as it would if it were directly connected via USB.
I installed the software on all three of my home computers and I'm able to do what ever I want from any of the three machines without having to turn on the "main" computer.
Cons: The photo prints are so nice, you're going to want to print everything.
Other Thoughts: Look for the instant rebates. I got a great deal on this one.

Pros: Print quality clear and sharp. I printed a 4x6 borderless photo and it came out much faster than I expected, and also was of high quality.
Cons: The software does not work at all. First, during the installation, the installer crashes. After looking at HP, I found this was a known bug. Their method of fixing it, uninstall and reinstall, does not work. Therefore, none of the software works. HP Solution Center doesn't think my printer is connected, so it doesn't open. I can't scan from my computer, since it thinks nothing is connected. The duplexer does not work with the 7200 series driver...
Other Thoughts: I am doing this via the wireless network, which because the install software kept crashing, I did a go around. I printed the network settings test sheet from the printer to find its IP and MAC address; then configured my router to static the IP. After that used the windows "add printer" function, created a tcp/ip port, and typed in the IP address of the printer. About the DUPLEXER: If you contact HP, they will tell you to install a different printer driver and map it to the location of the 7280 (the port). PRINTER LOOKS GREAT AND PRINTS WELL, BUT THE SOFTWARE SUCKS.

Horrible printer ... avoid!
Pros: Wireless (when it works).
Cons: Where do I begin? Let me start with: "pic motor jam", "carriage jam" and the ever present "paper jam". It takes 20 minutes and 100 pages of paper to get 10 good copies out of this unit. I've called HP tech support twice ... they help me fix it but as soon as I hang up it jams again.
When I buy a printer I expect it to work right out-of-the-box. This unit has been anything but that for me. My wife needs a printer for school and this was the solution. Now I have to return it because it is definitely the WORST printer I have owned in the last 20 years.
If you buy this plan on buying a LOT of paper (paper jams) and have a LOT of time ... it takes a long time to clear these errors EVERYTIME YOU USE IT!
Avoid!

This machine is nice!!!
Pros: Very nice and easy to use device. Setup was very easy and went by the numbers. For those that had problems with the software thanks because it made me cautious and I read very carefully and selected advance setup (which I normally do anyway). Selecting only what you want and need prevents any of the advertisment problems. Software package is rather complete. Setup on my network was easy and quick, used the wired not wireless.
Cons: Only down side is there is no selection for dpi for scans. It is preset based on the type. Scans are nice just would be better to have the option.
Other Thoughts: The unit is small and light and uses very little power. This is comparing it to the units it replaces. A Konica Minolta 5430DL and a HP Scanjet 6200C. The b/w print quality is about the same but color is much better and using HP photo paper does make a big difference. I,m sure there is something on the paper that the printer reads that kicks up the quality. For $120 this was the best printer I have purchaseed to date. My kids like the sounds it makes!

Excellant
Pros: Great feature packed printer from HP. It's truly an all in one. Auto two sided printing is great; saves paper and ink. Picture quallity is fantastic. Wireless feature either hard wired or wireless works great. I recommend using it with a router and you have a great home network. Its individual ink cartridges make it very economical. It has two paper trays. Scans true to life. You can't go wrong buying this product!
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: Yes as usual NewEgg rocks! you can't beat there deal on this with a giggy stick lol ! Grab them before there out of stock.

Hapless Consumer
Pros: It looks great!
Cons: I was one of those hapless consumers that wound up having to send it back. It kept telling me the incorrect cartridges were installed and had to be replaced. This was during initialization. I never even got to use the printer. Back it goes. Hopefully, the replacement will work. Looks like that is a 50/50 chance per other reviews.

Great Machine
Pros: Great Machine! I was a little skeptical because I read that is a very noisy machine but the price was right. Well, it was a noisy machine until I looked at the features and turned the sound off. EASY FIX. Good quality and speed. I just bought a second machine.
Cons: I hear this machine will use up ink quickly, however I haven't gotten that far yet.

Better than a 2 compared laser printer
Pros: Outstanding color quality, compared to results of 2 laser printers (not HP brands) I recently tried. Speed is super-fast on B&W and color. Scanner speed average, but is acceptable to my occasional needs.Great features include ability to save scans as PDF's and usage of print/copy/scan functions without the computer. Wireless networking my laptop was a breeze. HP photo papers are a must for quality and Less Ink Usage.
Cons: User interface software is nothing to brag about, although the utility has the needed basics. The color cartridge kit that with my purchase did not include full carts, however the B&W cart did.
Other Thoughts: Initial User manuals are very basic, but the HP website allows full manual downloads. The printer uses large amounts of CYAN color for B&W prints. So, I use the "black cart only" mode frequently. Definitely keep a spare Cyan on hand!

Don't Bank at Home
Pros: 1) For the money this has a lot of features and when it works, it works fairly well.
2) Once connected to the wireless network it works flawlessly.
Cons: 1) My primary purpose in buying a scanner was for depositing checks from home with USAA. This scanner SUCKS at that. For some reason it will occasionally skew a check 45 degrees when it scans it in, especially the backside of checks. I did find a work around though. Place your check on the scanner and then place a magazine over the check. Giving it a larger image to scan keeps it from trying to auto correct the image. For those who are curious I did go into the twain settings and tell it to not auto skew, but the scanner seems to ignore the software settings.
2) HP bloatware, or as they call them drivers. Way to much garbage that gets in the way of just trying to do what you want.
3) Fairly loud
4) Had to reinput the network security keys several times to have it succesfully connect. I verified the key were correct, and had a second party verify the key was correct. Still wouldn't work until it had been restarted twice and the key entered for the 4th time.
Other Thoughts: If it wasn't for the fact I bought this as a shell shocker and got a really good deal I would have returned it.
A scanner should scan images correctly.

Excellent Choice!
Pros: Setup was very easy with no issues. I use both wireless for my laptop and USB for the desktop. I want to compare performance over time. Print quality is excellent. Price was good for such a product. I went to the HP WEB site for the software download per reviewers comments. No issues. I am looking forward to learning more about the software features in this package.
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: I bought a Kodak 5550 ALL-In-One last week. Found it to be very difficult to setup over two days, poor performance, although excellent print quality. I took it back for a refund. I am s....o happy I went back to HP.

Lots of features, good value
Pros: Wifi connectivity, separate cartridges for each ink color, automatic duplexing, web-based utility, quality HP hardware
Cons: Unnecessary error when using automatic duplexing when the printer is connected over a network (instead of USB), HP software, HP tech support
Other Thoughts: I connected the printer via Wi-Fi, and everything worked fine until I tried automatic duplexing. After the job spooled to the printer, I would get an error (in WinXP) declaring that the two-sided print module (duplexer) was not installed, with the option to cancel or print one-sided. When I click to print one-sided, the job proceeds to print duplex! HP tech support tried to help, but failed after over an hour.
If you are having this problem, here's the solution: First, use the CD to install the printer over USB. Second, print a job using automatic duplexing when it's connected over USB. Third, unplug USB and make sure the printer is connected to your network (wired or wifi). Fourth, go into the printer properties in windows and change the printer's connection method from USB to TCP/IP.
It may be necessary to go through this process for every computer on your network that will be using the printer. I would imagine so, but I haven't tried yet.

Disappointed
Pros: wireless function was easy to set up and worked well Prints were of expected quality when not jammed in printer.
Cons: Worked well for two weeks then began jamming paper occasionally. At 6 weeks suddenly 50% of pages jammed. I knew more about the printer than HP's overseas tech support. After 1 1/2 hours on the phone they finally transferred me to someone for a return authorization, and then disconnected me! After I went through another 1/2 hour round to get the return number it cost ME $31 to send in the unit for replacement
Other Thoughts: I have owned several HP printers that all functioned well. I would not recommend this unit and this experience will make me consider other manufacturers next time.

Great Printer
Pros: Does everything but make coffee. Very very easy set up. Photo prints look fantastic, and extra tray for photo paper is really nice. Separate color ink cartridges is a big plus.
Cons: haven't found any yet.
Other Thoughts: for $170 i think its a heck of a deal.

Best Printer I've Ever Owned
Pros: - Easy to setup and use - Document Feeder is awesome. Ive even used it for scanning a set of pictures (though it isn't recommended, it does work) - Picture quality is outstanding. Love the 6 cartridge setup! - Wireless/Blutooth option works flawlessly and makes printing remotely a non-issue. - Can perform almost all tasks w/o using computer via onboard display
Cons: - Oh yea, it doesn't print directly to CD/DVD (I hate using labels) - Make sure you put it on a sturdy surface as it moves around a bit when it starts printing.
Other Thoughts: I bought this at Office Max (it was an impulse buy, sorry NewEgg!) and it has brought nothing but joy into my life. Before this printer, I had a Lexmark All-in-One printer that made me red with anger every time I used it (crooked page loading ahhhhhhhhhh). I couldn't be happier with this printer. I highly recommended it especially at this price (I paid almost $100 more).

So-So Printer
Pros: This printer is loaded with features and the double sided printing option is very nice! Too bad the Pros don't outweigh the cons.
Cons: The first printer arrived DOA, it kept telling me that the printer cartridges were not the correct type and to use only HP printer cartridges. We used the one's that it came with. Called HP tech support and they suggested getting a replacement which Newegg was very helpful in doing. 2nd printer arrived, had no problems setting it up.
Other Thoughts: Wireless feature seemed flakey, the HP software that sits in the computer tray kept saying a wireless printer has been found and would pop up very frequently. We weren't turning it on an off it was just sitting there in the ready mode. Very annoying. We switched it over to cat5 needless to say. Also the HP software seemed to run the processor at 50% load, we were wondering why the computer was running so slowly. Removed one HP app at a time and bam the computer processor dropped to 0% usage with of course the normal jumps. There's a reason these printers are always on sale, I think HP is dumping them. Read online reviews on the software bundle you will find similar problems with no HP solution.

Wonderful Multi-function Printer
Pros: Performs every major office printing type function you need. duplex printing out of the box.
Cons: Can seem slow at times over wireless connection, but that is to be expected.
Other Thoughts: I recently replaced my PSC2510 with this printer. The PSC2510 was still working after like 4-5 years, but I was looking for something a little faster and with a smaller footprint. The wireless internet set up without a hitch. Printing, scanning and faxing work even better than the PSC2510. You can tell HP has continued to evolve and improve their PSC/Photosmart line. I really like the 7280.

Pros: nice design, fast print speed, good quality printing, wireless, connected to my wireless network easily
Cons: frequent paper jams, scanning software sometimes works, long installation time, loud printing.
Other Thoughts: The printer usually takes quite a while to prepare to print...especially if it is recovering from some kind of error such as a paper jam, on average about 3 minutes before it tries to print again

Pros: does a lot for a small price.
Cons: Software buggy. Could not get double sided print to work with XP. Kept getting "double sided print module missing" I had 1, 2 hour chat with HP. Then on the phone for 2 hours while they took over my desktop to no avail. Finally got somebody with a new idea and had to redo all again. Another 2 hours or so and they finaly found a work around. HP finally LOADED HP DESKJET 990c drivers and now I use them to print double sided. Hope the update there software soon.

Lots of features, a little noisy
Pros: The number of features in this printer is absolutely ridiculous. It does just about anything you would want a PSC to do.
Cons: It's very loud when in operation, and it's also rather large.
Other Thoughts: No Linux compatibility for scanning, but you can connect a flash drive to it, and my Kubuntu Gutsy install automatically picked it up and mounted it when the printer was connected to my computer over USB. This meant I could just scan to the flash drive, and then copy the image file from there. There is full Linux support for printing, however.
I haven't used the fax, so I can't comment on that.

Lab quality prints...QUICK!
Pros: Wireless works like a charm. Easiest setup I've ever done on a wireless printer and the machines using it. Beautiful lab quality prints on good photo paper. The photo paper tray is very handy and keeps you from constantly having to change papers. The scanner works flawlessly from the printer or a peripheal. I haven't gotten the manual out since the install. Everything is so intuitive and easy to understand. Have printed photos from SD cards without a hitch. I am very pleased by this printer as I was the 7200 it replaced when it died from an electrical problem of no fault of its own. My bad, this one is plugged to my APC...lol..yeah I know they say not too but I loved my 7200 and it got killed...not this one!! I would recommend this printer to anyone that needs an all-in-one with fax capabilities. 6 ink cartridges will help with ink costs hopefully. NP yet!! If you don't need a fax there may be a HP similar to this but with slightly better features for more $$$
Cons: Haven't found one yet unless its price, but you seem to get what you pay for with printers.
Other Thoughts: Was worried if this printer would match the output quaity of my old 7200 which was as good as Lab and some said better with photo paper and awesome on plain paper. It seems to be just as good of print quality as the 7200. Possibly better but only time will tell. I scanned college graduation pics and printed them on heavy glossy paper and no one has been able to tell the difference yet......I'm very satisfied with this Printer!!
