Don't buy
Pros: it works (most of the time), the computer and printer usually need a reboot for scanning to work.
Cons: It burns through ink insanely fast. I bought new ink a week ago and it's already asking me to replace the cartridge. I didn't buy the printer at newegg, but this made me mad enough to log in and warn others.
Other Thoughts: I shared a laserjet with 4 other people before this printer - I think we replaced the ink once during the school year. If you print more than 20-30 pages a month, get a laserjet.

Meh its ok
Pros: It prints.....woooo. The Scanner did work. I found it on sale for super cheap.
Cons: The software that comes with it apparantely works with Vista 64 Ultimate but for some reason the scanner is not detected hmmmmm....I highly doubt its my fault that it magically isn't detected by its own software but still makes copies and reads the test page that prints almost an entire page of green and other colored text and pictures.
Other Thoughts: It does its job....get the high yield cartridges if you really want to prevent changing them ALL THE TIME. But a word to the wise when you buy a cheap printer expect to pay BUCKS for carts and if you save your money and buy a nice printer generally you will be spared on buying ink either by longer times between or cheaper cartridages

Lexmark inkjets are a scam
Pros: It prints and it scans just fine but...
Cons: The ink cartridges last only 50 pages. I'm a student and I print out reports and term papers and I keep finding out that the cartridge fails on me after no more than 6 tasks (7-8 pages per task). I say on average because some cartridges are worse than others. Lexmark also forces you to print "printer alignment diagrams" that waste paper and their expensive ink and when you recharge your cartridge at Walgreens or some other store, the "smart capabilities" of the cartridge bar you from printing even when it's the cart has just gotten a full reservoir of ink.
Another thorn in my side is how expensive these Lexmark #28 carts are. Two carts is enough to buy myself a new X2500 printer.
The carts don't keep very well either because if you don't print it's capacities diminish really fast.
I called the support line and the guy named Norbert from south Asia tells me there is no way that I can override the wasteful printer alignment procedure or override the auto-lockout of the smart ca
Other Thoughts: I'm paying quadruple the value of the printer in carts. I thought X2500 was cheap, now I know the cheap price was just bait on a line and I got snagged hook, line, and sinker. I'm going to buy a laser printer that isn't going to make me break the bank when I print term papers.

This thing is a steaming pile of excrement
Pros: It prints sometimes, and the scanner works okay.
It made me feel good when I took it out to the range and unloaded on it with an M1 Garand.
Cons: This printer is a money pit and should be avoided at all costs.
My printer did not come with the USB cable necessary to hook it up. The box does state that it may or may not come with the cable, in very fine print that I only noticed after bringing it home.
To use it you will be forced to install the bloated, annoying and intrusive Lexmark spyware. If the software cannot phone home to Lexmark, your printer will not work.
The printer burns through ink obscenely fast, even if you print everything in draft mode (a setting you must change every time you print, since it cannot be set as the default.)
When the ink runs out, it will annoy you with a pop up every time you print that will stop the printing process and try to get you to buy ink from Lexmark. There is no way to disable this nagging.
Other Thoughts: When this printer prints in black and white, it will use both cartridges unless you specify not to. This eats up the more expensive color cartridges quickly. You cannot set a default print mode that will avoid doing this, so you have to specify not to use the color cartridge every time you print.
When you run out of ink, if you decide to replace the cartridges you will have to print an alignment page. You will not be able to print this in draft mode, and it will mess up the page at least once. You must scan the page in order to proceed. You must do this every time you change a cartridge, or the printer will not work.
The printer will not work with only a black cartridge. I have a full black cartridge in my printer at this moment and want to print a page of text, but the software will not allow me to do so even though the printer is capable of it.
Do not buy Lexmark products. By giving them money you are supporting this kind of garbage.

good cheap printer
Pros: purchased elsewhere but still cheap printer. installed quickly on windows xp, worked fine right away.
Cons: none yet
Other Thoughts: have not tried photo printing with this, as it is not a priority of mine. prints text and web pages with pictures and maps just fine.

The Mad Maker
Pros: Looks neat...
Cons: OK, so my main problem is the fact that the stupid thing tries to print WAY too quick. And you're thinking, "Huh? That's a problem?" Well, in this case, yes. It actually doesn't get anything printed at all, but instead, it successfully jams the paper almost every single time. Also, this "photo quality" that it claims to have, stinks. The photo has those white lines of death all over in them.
Other Thoughts: A good idea to get, if you just want a good way to get mad. Getting the paper unjammed has become a new hobby of mine, and I can now easily do it with one hand WHILE drinking water with my other :)

Pros: none
Cons: Big mistake buying this printer. I could not get the software to load. the installer won't recognize my USB connection. Also Lexmark wants to install spyware and make exceptions in your firewall. YIKES!!! ITS JUST A PRINTER!!! I then tried to load just the drivers and that won't work either. Get with it Lexmark and give us a printer WITHOUT forcing consumers to accept compromised security.
Other Thoughts: the software that did install required a manually uninstall and a lot of registry editing (94 entries) to get rid of it.
