Decent printer
Pros: Its fairly quick.
Cons: Its loud. paper jams if printing more then 30 pages but that could just be the cheap paper i buy.
Other Thoughts: I did get my rebate check about 5 weeks after i sent it in. Theres better models for cheaper than this.

Pros: Better value then inkjets.
Cons: Noisy.
Other Thoughts: Samsung doesn't honor their rebates. They are the only company that I have had a rebate problem with. Even after I tried checking up on my rebate status numerous times they just ignored me. I just gave up on it. Lesson learned. Just a heads up if they offer their rebate scheme again.

Seedy!
Pros: Speedy
Cons: No fan for ventilation; overheats; burns
Other Thoughts: We use these printers in our office at work; they are very fast for their size and price. I may buy one for home use; my inkjet is soooo slooow.

Cheap Disposable Printer
Pros: Cheap printer after rebate. Prints fast. good light duty printer.
Cons: Included toner is only 1/3 full. Lifespan is short. Envelope loading is poorly designed.
Other Thoughts: After 1 year of use the printer will not enter powersave mode. This leaves the fuser powered on, draws alot of current and gets VERY HOT. Currently I just power it off unless needed as I am a light printer.

Poor Quality and very Loud
Pros: Nice printing speeds. Toner price is relatively cheap, an important but overlooked item when choosing a printer.
Cons: It is VERY loud. When printing papers at night you will wake up others. I bought this 10/31/06 and starting in February (past the 90 day warranty) it has been locking up . I smell burnt wiring coming from it when ever it prints now.
Other Thoughts: I have done several jobs installing new hardware/networks in offices and such. I say this because I see/install ALOT of printers. This really is poor quality machine.

Excellent for the price
Pros: Bought on sale a few months ago, just got the rebate today. First personal laser printer, and I'm impressed. Print quality is great, no more ink-jet smearing, no dried up cartridges.
Cons: A little slow to get to 1st page, but very fast there after. Does not matter to me, I'm in no hurry to get the document. Noisy while printing, and a little fan noise after printing until it goes back to standby.
Other Thoughts: I'm using inkjet paper which curls quite a bit. Laser paper should perform better, but will probably still curl a little. Would have prefered a black/silver model.

Sweet deal, great value
Pros: Very cheap w/ rebates and discount. Great toner life (over 1,000 pages on the trial toner). Fast printing.
Cons: Pretty noisy. Paper jams fairly easily if you try to put the full load in the tray.
Other Thoughts: I have this hooked up to my AirPort Express and it serves me, my 2 roommates and the 3 people upstairs and I have just recently put in my first full toner. Great deal. I would probably go with one a little better to get a quieter printer.

Great Little Printer
Pros: Fast printing, smaller footprint then the HP's that the other people in the office are using, very good print quality.
Cons: Takes a while to warm up. First printing of the day takes an average of 30 seconds before it starts printing and usually 10-20 seconds after an hour or so of no activity.
Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these, one for me and one for another person who works in my office. Will probably pick up 2 more next time they run a rebate. Unlike other reviewers, I never ran into any problems with either rebate I submitted.

Even Cats Like It
Pros: - fast, once it gets started - cheap for a laser - toner lifespan is great - works with linux, osx, and win xp/2000
Cons: - "footprint" on the desk, loudness factor, and warm-up time are okay, but nothing spectacular
Other Thoughts: The Samsung is a real soldier, if you're looking for a reliable and compatible product.

does what it should
Pros: Inexpensive. Fast. Good-looking output. Silent in "sleep" mode.
Cons: Loud when printing. When it fires up, the lights in the room dim. Never got the rebate.
Other Thoughts: I've had this printer for a year, and I like it.

Great printer for the price
Pros: Excellent print quality, prints pages super fast, much faster than my old 4 ppm HP Laserjet 5L.
Cons: As others have stated, the starter toner cartridge is not full, so expect to spend another $50 or so in a few months to get a new cartridge. Also, the printer is loud, and when it's not in "Sleep" mode, it makes an annoying humming sound.

Great printer, Better Price
Pros: Inexpensive, nice solid blacks, quick printer startup, very quick printing.
Cons: limited error codes with blinking lights.
Other Thoughts: I bought this printer a little over a year ago at $xxx and now seeing it at $xxx, its an even better deal. Bought it to use with my Macintosh and have used it with Linux, Windows 2000, XP pro 64bit, Vista, as well as the originally planned OS X.

Great printer for home
Pros: price & reliability
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I do not know how this would hold up in a working office, but great for home. I've had it for over 1 year, just had to replace ink for the first time. with inkjets, i go though 1 cartrage every 2 months. Highly reccomend for home use.

Good, inexpensive laser
Pros: Fast, inexpensive, decently small footprint. I've had this since October 2006, now it's January 2007 and it's still going strong. So far it's the most satisfying printer purchase ever. As always, Newegg rocks. Oh, and my rebate came in fine. It took about two months, but it came in.
Cons: Somewhat noisy, but you get used to it. Like someone else said, it's a laser, it's GOING to be noisy.

Cool Printer Cool Price
Pros: Fast printing. Small for laser printer. Easy to setup.
Cons: Proprietary toner cartridge is expensive.
Other Thoughts: Paper tray is odd, but is put in a strange place to help the printer keep it's small size. The paper tray folds out of the front-bottom of the unit.

Great!!
Pros: Prints Fast. Much faster than my LaserJet 4L. Fast warm up time too.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: This printer is not noisy! I don't know what people are talking about. Every laser printer makes noise. This is actually fairly quiet compared to many lasers like it. Also, the warm up time might be 10 seconds, no where near 15-20. And the pages just fly out of the printer.

Solid Printer, but Loud
Pros: Small and fast.
Cons: Extremely loud. No idea how to use toner saver.
Other Thoughts: Great printer for the money. It prints great, but like other reviews said it's extremely loud, and pressing the toner saver button doesn't appear to do anything.

Excellent for basic home printing
Pros: It has a quick startup. Easy to print on 2 sides. Very good print quality. It hasn't jammed on me yet and I've had it for over half a year now.
Cons: Loud but so what?
Other Thoughts: A big rebate. Get it now!!

Good Printer at a great price
Pros: Inexpensive fast printing with decent quality. Easy set-up, XP picked up.
Cons: Takes about 20 seconds for the first page to print, but after that it's quick. Only comes with starter cartridge.
Other Thoughts: Others have mentioned the noise of the printer, I don't find this to be an issue.

pretty good
Pros: If you do not print a lot this is fine for the price.
Cons: Does not jam for me a lot, but if I try using less-than-perfect paper it likely will. But that is not unusual even for higher quality printers
Other Thoughts: Never received my rebate.

Not worth the hassle
Pros: Fast print speed, relatively small size
Cons: Jams easily and often when using anything other than standard paper (labels, cardstock, etc). Noisy. Paper tray holds hardly any paper and if you load it more than half full, the printer jams. Poor graphic quality.
Other Thoughts: New toner cartridges cost as much to more than the printer itself (depending upon rebates), so the printer is really disposable.

Electricity Hog!
Pros: Fast print speed, Small Unit, Comes with toner, easy to install, cheap!
Cons: This sucker uses an incredible amount of energy! The lights in my house dim down and flicker slightly when printing. As long as nothing shuts off (which nothing has) then its not really a huge deal.
Other Thoughts: Wish it told you an approximation of how many more pages it can print with the available toner.
Still havent received my rebate yet.

Exellent Value
Pros: I love this printer! I replaced an old laserjet that was 10 yrs old, and this thing rocks. I literally set it up in less than 5 minutes, xp had the drivers already so it worked out of the box with my network. It prints very fast compared to what I had before . I haven't had any paper jams yet either, and its only $xx, so I can't complain. I am very impressed with the value of this printer.
Cons: Takes a few seconds to boot up when doing a print job, and it's kinda loud. Comes with a starter toner so it's not gonna last a really long time.
Other Thoughts: I don't really care about the noise, I am not constantly printing things so it doesn't matter to me. In fact, I have the printer in the other room and when it's printing I can hear it. So basically the noise is a pro for me :-)

excellet for the price
Pros: The price is unbeatable with a $50 mail-in rebate! I have been using SAMSUNG ML-4500 for years. This price is even cheaper than the price of the toner cartridge for ML-4500! So, I decided to purchase this great & fast printer, instead of purchasing the toner cartridge for ML-4500.
Cons: No---ooooisy! It is so noisy that I can't print many documents in the night. Its noise may wake up my three-year-old daughter!
Other Thoughts: It doesn't come with the USB cable.

Cons: A bit noisy. No LCD status display / menu.
Other Thoughts: Good replacement for inkjet when printing text documents.

Great personal printer
Pros: once warmed up quick printing good resolution and graphics. $xx after rebate. Sweet. easy install. simple operation. Silent when not printing.
Cons: a little noisy, wouldnt want to print all day. cost of replacement toner. no usb incl. 10 to 15 sec warmup from cold. 10 from printer on and sitting more than a few minutes.
Other Thoughts: Great for home laser printer. I have a photo inkjet for pics. and for text previewing use this. Nice graphics. Multisheets are fast 22 ppm.

Best Laser Printer for the Price!
Pros: Great Home Laser printer and a Great price.Simply can't be beat! I will NEVER own an Inkjet printer again after buying this printer!
Cons: Little slow to warm up. Not as noisy as some complain about. Very tolerable.
Other Thoughts: Buy it! You won't be disappointed in it.

Outstanding Value!
Pros: No doubt the best printer for the money! Period. I have purchased two of these printers. One receives very light service, the other has printed over 10,000 pages - flawlessly.
Cons: Toner cartridge acceptance: I have tried aftermarket toner cartridges with varying degrees of success - mostly unsuccessful. Seems to prefer OEM.
Samsung was a little slow in sending my rebate check - 12+ weeks.
Other Thoughts: Other reviews complain about noise. I do not. I have a highly regarded brand name color laser printer that is louder and slightly slower (1st page) than the Samsung 2010. This machine is durable, as well. During an incident involving this printer's unwillingness to acknowledge an aftermarket toner cartridge, this machine "slipped" out of my hands and fell on the floor, and it still works great! When purchased with the rebate, this printer doesn't owe you anything after the first toner cartridge is used up.

Cons: no way (so far) to see toner life, a tad noisy when printing
Other Thoughts: I did not run the install, just pulled the \XP install files and added a printer in Windows.

Great Printer for the price
Pros: Fast printer with good contrast. It's nice little printer for a home office.
Cons: It is a little loud, but in the office it isn't too bothersome.
Other Thoughts: Great printer for the price. I see a lot of people complain about not getting the rebate and stuff. It took a while, but I did get mine.

Great Buy
Pros: Good Quality, Speed, and Size.
Cons: Makes some noise while getting warmed up but that's normal, not to bad. Like most printers, you need to buy a USB cable as well.
Other Thoughts: For the price you can't pass this laser printer up. The perfect Personal Laser printer. Very Quick, Nice clear Black Text. Excellent Overall. Highly recommended.

great for college students
Pros: Prints very quickly, toner saver works great.
Cons: I wish it was black instead of beige. No functional issues.
Other Thoughts: I purchased this printer to print research articles for graduate school. I needed something better than an inkjet, but I couldn't afford a high-end laser printer. This printer is nice to have when you need to print something out at 4am and you don't want to go to campus to do it. Don't forget the USB cable if you don't already have one.

Annoyingly noisy fans
Pros: Cheap - I can put in trash when cartridge is over. Small size - fits well to my desk.
Cons: Fans are the noisest I've ever heard in any printers. Even in the idle state when they work. I turn this printer off when no printing. May be just my luck. Made in China instead of Korea - that's why.
Other Thoughts: Hopefully, it will be broken during the warranty period to replace it. Otherwise I'll put it in trash when a catridge is over and buy a new printer.
I keep it because I was tired with other deffective parts replacement (made in China as well) to send this one back to NewEgg, which service is pretty good and helpfull anyway.

This Machine is a Warrior
Pros: Cheap, fast and most important of all it is a warrior. I printed about 2500 pages in two day, that is right 2500 pages. This thing just kept working with short rest and non stop for two days, while Brother MFC 4800 bitchd and whined all the while printing only 200 pages.
Cons: Had to call to get my rebate, and brand name toner is expensive.

Good Cheap
Pros: Does massive amounts of printing. The refile isn't all that expensive around the mid 50-70
Cons: Takes about 1-2 minutes before it can print a page. Samsung took 5 months to give me the rebate.
Other Thoughts: I bought this because i am on a debate team and print about 10-100 pages a day. I could not be displeased

Don't hesitate to buy it.
Pros: Easy to set up, image quality is excellent, toner saver feature is nice to have, can't beat the rebate and price. Combine that with Newegg's fast shipping and this was a perfect purchase.
Cons: None. Make sure you give that toner cartidge a good push to lock it in position.

Great with Aiport Express
Pros: Price. It also has great speed and works with Airport Express.
Cons: A little loud when actually printing and has a soft fan noise for a few minutes afterwards--this is really nit-picky.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to work with my Apple Aiport Express. It works flawlessly. If you paid $1000 for this printer, you would think it sounds a little cheap, but for what it costs, it's great. I have had mine for six months and it still works great. I print labels and cardstock as well.

Excellent Personal Printer!!!
Pros: It is small enough to easily fit onto desktop. Prints fast and warms up quick too. I highly recommend this printer on a low or even medium budget. It hasn't jammed yet and i've printed around 250 pages.
Cons: Comes with a starter toner that prints around 1,000 pages. You can tell a slight difference in quality when you have the toner saver enabled but since it is just one click to turn it off I love having it there to print pages only I will read and turn it off when I'm printing for other people.
Other Thoughts: Don't be fooled, there are several reviews that mention loudness when printing. I think these people are used to inkjets. This printer is as loud as any other laser printer, no more.
Thank You Newegg

Pros: This printer may very well take the cake for fastest printer that I've seen over the years. It also has a software duplexing feature that works like a dream. The printouts are nice and crisp and easy to read even on toner save mode.
Cons: I contacted Samsung tech support about a problem that I've been having (seems my computer's usb ports are on the fritz). Tech support has yet to get back to me after over 2 weeks.
If you use too light of paper (like the cheap 20 pound stuff) the printer will be printing so fast that it will occasionally push a page out of the collection tray before it has time to fall out of the way. (Granted some of you might see this as a pro instead of a con)
Other Thoughts: An excellent printer that I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a printer who doesn't need color.

Long time user, love it
Pros: I've had this printer for over a year and its been perfect. I've printed thousands of pages on it and I still haven't had to replace the toner. For the price, you can't find anything better.
Cons: I'm sure I'm not going to like paying for a new toner cartridge, whenever that happens.

works with linux
Pros: works with linux perfectly! It may be overwhelming to install at first, but just know that the cups web-based utility set to letter page size will fix the margin problem.
Cons: a little rough to setup perfectly for linux

Good Printer
Pros: Fast printer, much faster than the one it replaced, a old xerox laser P8. Works in linux with CUPS if you tell the printer manager that the printer is a Samsung 210. (Looked that up on forums)(that's not misspelled). Don't use the included software. You could try, but it didn't work for me.
Cons: Two Sources of Noise
1. The rotating mirror that directs the laser when printing. this is pretty much unavoidable, although i guess you could find a better sound insulated laser.
2. The fan. If the fuser is being heated, the fan runs. In the Printer Properties, you can change the power save to 5 minutes, thus making the fuser stop being heated, and stop the fan in five minutes after the last page, although this means you have to warm the printer up again to print after 5 mins.
Other Thoughts: Smoke comes out of the fuser, but i think it's water vapor evaporating in my slightly wet paper from my basement.

Great deal for Capable Laser
Pros: If you are looking at lasers on the low end of the price spectrum. This one is absolutely great. With the price on this one plummeting, it's a steal. The print quality is good. Obviously it doesn't make great images, but the text is clean and crisp even in toner saver mode. It is also FAST. It's got about a 10 sec warm-up time, but what it gets going that 22 ppm is probably not far from the truth. It's a tiny bit noisy, but not enough to be an issue. Heat output that I've noticed and power consumption have been minimal.
Cons: nothing significant
Other Thoughts: As a college student, I love being able to print text at the same speed as the university printers with the same quality while not having to pay 15 cents per page to do so. I would absolutely recommend this product.

Great printer for a great price
Pros: Even at list price this printer is a bargain. Fast start, sharp text, fast print, quiet. Still using starter toner cart.
Cons: Still no rebate.
Other Thoughts: Newegg quick on the ship. Love Newegg.

Not too shabby
Pros: Fast printing once it gets going. Decent size, doesn't take up a ton of space. Excellent value

Great Printer! Read Rebate info
Pros: Great Printer for the price, clean clear images. Short warm up time
Cons: Using the manual feed function can be a bit confusing with Microsoft Word. Also Newegg had this special posted in September which is when I ordered but the rebate is not valid until October. So because my e-mail receipt was dated September 29, 2006 Samsung didn't want to Honor my rebate. I was not aware of the rebate start date until I looked at the rebate form.

Happy Customer
Pros: Prints Fast, Never jams.
Paper tray holds alot.
Printer will still print even when very low on toner.
Cons: Toner is expensive, but easy to change.
There is no low toner warning light.
Comes with a low capacity toner cartrige.
Other Thoughts: Great Deal for the money, espcially after the rebate.
Dont waste your time with inkjets if you dont need color.

"starter" toner cartridge -- argh!!
Pros: Very cheap. Small. Seems to work okay.
Cons: Look, I know it's been a long time since I bought my last printer, and I know this is a very inexpensive machine, so maybe this is something I'm supposed to expect without it being in the description, but... I'm really angry that this machine comes with only a "starter" toner cartridge, i.e., one with very little toner in it. A regular toner cartidge (unrefilled) is going to cost me more than the price (after rebate) than I paid for the printer.
The description on this site does not mention this. (Yes, the Samsung site does, but should I really have to go to their site and scour it to find this out?) I suppose it's a smart marketing move for Samsung to sell the printer at a low price, knowing you're going to have to buy supplies much earlier than expected. But this is a very important "feature" of the printer, and should be mentioned in the description.
Also, no USB cable. I guess I should have expected that, too.
Other Thoughts: If I could get past the toner thing, I'm sure I'd like the machine just fine.

Dependable small laser printer
Pros: Easy to setup and install to system. It is not USB 2.0 and since it does not come with a cable you can get by with a less expensive 1.1. cable if you can find one. Still plenty fast enough for home use.
Cons: No removable paper tray but at this price I wouldn't expect it. Just be careful loading paper and things should be fine.
Other Thoughts: One of numberous Samsung printers I have purchased. All very reliable.

Fast, Cheap, and Durable!
Pros: Relatively small and stylish. Print are fast and clear.
Cons: The toner saver button gets annoying. Just go into the printer properties and set toner saver to "always on."
Other Thoughts: Much better than my HP inkjet I had before. I definetly like this printer and it works great for me since I am a college student printing out reports all the time.

Unreliable!!!
Pros: Broken after only 2 weeks. Had to contact the manufacturer for a refurbished replacement since I already submitted the UPC code with the rebate form. According to their tech support, that's how the warranty works.
Cons: Fast printer after all.
Other Thoughts: Never had any trouble like this before and from now on, have to give a second thought on any Samsung products.

Pros: Great quality on text, Very fast once it gets moving, Toner Saver works, Decent drivers (Especially impressed me with linux drivers not only on the cd but instructions in the manual).
Cons: Power saver button probably would never have worked if I did not read how to do it here (press 1 sec and let go, remove paper if it tries to print test page), Image print quality is not super, but its good enough, I have my more expensive inkjet for color/photo prints.
Other Thoughts: Just waiting for my rebate now :).

Great, with some foibles
Pros: Great on the budget, handles everything I throw at it, doesnt freeze or choke.
Cons: Having had it for a while, the only con I find myself dealing with is that, as it feeds paper, the stack starts to slide, and if you dont 'tap' the sheets every few pages, it will inevitably drag in 3 or 4 pages at once and paper jam, so I have to babysit it for anything >2 pages.
Other Thoughts: The price is right, and having to jiggle the paper supply is something I can live with. If you're a person who absolutely cannot accomdate any annoyances in your life, pass on, but otherwise this is a good printer for the money.

Decent Printer
Pros: Low price.
Fast printing. Warm-up time is pretty short. (Takes less than 10 sec)
Manual paper feeder can handle more than one paper at a time.
A little quieter than ML-1710.
Cons: Paper tray is small and not removable. Small toner cartridge.
There is a long extention on the top to hold printed papers. Its easy to break when its extended that long.
Other Thoughts: I used ML-1710 before getting this printer. Print speed and quality has improved greatly compare to ML-1710. However, ML-1710 had better design. I liked removable tray of ML-1710.
Only improvement over ML-1710 in terms of design is the multi-paper manual feeder.

Samsung Printer
Pros: It's cheap for a laser printer and it works well. Ink is a lot cheaper than for inkjet.
Cons: It doesn't print color (not that I expected it to for this price).
Other Thoughts: Nice linux drivers from Samsung. It's good to see a hardware maker support linux.

Works as intended
Pros: Printer prints really quickly. I haven't experienced any regular paper jams since I began using it daily. It also has a nice toner saver feature, and occupied small desk real estate.
Cons: Envelopes will not feed from tray for the life of me. I have to manually feed them one by one, which is annoying. Printer is quite loud, but for the price paid it's worth it. Toner saver feature was hard to setup, it's very sensitive. Have to hold button for like 2 seconds and let go, or it'll print a test page instead.
Other Thoughts: Overall a great printer for anyone looking for just a BW desktop quick print machine. It gets the job done, and the cons can be lived with at the affordable price.

Awesome printer...
Pros: Best bang for the buck! It's barely noticeable when the printer is idle and when it prints, the noise is within an acceptable range. Quality is acceptable and it is great for any one on a budget or anyone looking to buy a decent laser printer for a good price.
Quick and easy to set up (only 5-10 minutes). I shopped around (online and in the stores) but Newegg had the best deal. I got it within a few days and don't regret the choice I made.
Cons: No issues... I don't like rebates, but so far I've never had any issues with getting a rebate check.

OK Deal
Pros: Not a bad deal when I bought it since it came with a hefty rebate.
Cons: Had to return the first one as DOA, would only print error pages WHEN it printed. Other than that it's loud, and the lights go dim even when I'm not printing. DO NOT install the Samsung Status Monitor software with it. I installed it and the printer would only print once and I'd have to power cycle it. Uninstalled the Status Monitor and the printer started working fine.

had it for almost six months
Pros: ultra fast, only one jam in over 400 pages of printing in regular mode! Reviews of it being loud... well, it IS a laser jet, not an INK jet. The print quality is absolutely astounding!
Cons: don't like the duplex mode. Initially I got this to print books... have found out that won't work the way I want it to work. But I'm extremely pleased with regular printing methods.
Other Thoughts: I don't hear the normal running noise, but then again, I'm in a well-traffic'd area. It DOES take a bit of time to produce the initial page... but I'm used to that from work with bigger printers. Duplex sucks, but it does work... and the software is the best yet I've played around with. I'd buy five more if I needed them!

Bang for Buck
Pros: I bought this Printer About 8 months ago. I just had to replace the toner, that was about 3000 Pages ago. Very fast. Best xxx bucks i spent in a long time.
Cons: Umm for the money none Maybe the paper capacity is abit low. Being a student I might print 100 pages in a night easliy.
Other Thoughts: Love Newegg service

Highly Recommended
Pros: Very fast print speed, quiet operation, fast start-up times...what more can I say? This is a great printer.
Cons: My suggestion to you is to not take these reviews to heart when making your final decision to purchase a product. Read 'Other thoughts' for more information.
Other Thoughts: I almost didn't purchase this printer because of the previous reviews of customers complaining of the very loud noise it makes when it warms up, the extreme power consumption when it is in use, and slow start up times, not to mention the rebate issue. I purchased it anyway because I figured this was too good of a deal to leave, rebate or not. When I received the package, it was very, very simple to set up, and the no USB cable was not an issue for me because I have like 20 of those lying around. When I printed my test page, I was actually upset with the reviewers because they almost deterred me from a great product: My printer only takes about 10 seconds to warm up for the first page. And on contrary to the complaints of it sounding like a 747 taking off, well, let me just say that they are insane because I have heard loud laser printers in my time and this is NOT a loud printer. And the power consumption issue, I look on the side of the box and its Energy Star Compliant...

Good printer
Pros: It prints superfast. I bought it because my friend has had it for about a 6 months at his office and still hasn't changed the toner. Cheap with mail in rebate. It's really not as loud as people say..
Cons: The paper tray could be built into the printer so I could save some room in my dorm.
Other Thoughts: Laser printers are way better than inkjets for documents.

Cheap and reliable!
Pros: Prints quickly from startup, print quality is high, IMO - does NOT install 7 different services on your system for "management" (I'm looking at YOU, hp) which I really appreciate. A solid little beast to be sure!
Cons: A little loud on startup from powersave mode, but nothing that would change my rating. Also, the paper feed tray is a little flimsy feeling, and only holds a quarter ream, approximately.
Other Thoughts: I'm a hardware tech, but I don't know too much about printers. I've never bought a samsung printer before (or even heard of them) but this one is great!

1 year later......
Pros: Purchased from NEWEGG in September of '05. Bought for my kids to print their school papers. Excellent print quality. Fast and cheap to use. Still using the original starter toner! Toner Saver mode has acceptable print quality for the prints that don't have to be perfect.
Cons: NONE!
Other Thoughts: If the kids were still using their old inkjet for school papers, I would have spent $xxx in ink by now. As it is, I spent less than $5x.xx for this unit after rebate......And yes, the rebate come though fairly quickly.....Great product!

Good value
Pros: Clear, sharp text. Fast printing.
Cons: No USB cable (minor).
Other Thoughts: If you simply need a printer for text then this is a good value (with rebate). Easy setup. I use it on a daily basis and have had no problems so far. The lack of a USB (1.2) cable was only a minor problem as I had an extra, and they are relatively inexpensive anyway. No need to use a super-duper USB cable. I did go ahead and order extra toner (from a discount supply) since the original is a smaller amount, as with most new printers I looked at. It's not really that noisy unless you work in a monastery.

Perfect for occasional use.
Pros: Laser printers are the way to go. This one is fast and supprisingly quite. I love to print out reports and watch them fly. Out put quality is great also. Foot print takes up less space than my inkjet printers!
Cons: Takes a minute or so to enter power save mode after a print, only problem with that is the noise from the fan.
Other Thoughts: I had ink jet printers before but had to keep replacing the cartriges, which are as expensive as the printer itself, because I didn't use it often enough. Toner cartriges won't dry out if they aren't used. Now that laser printers are affordable, I'll never go back to any other kind.

don't expect the world and you won't be let down
Pros: Very cheap. Print quality is good. The quality while on toner saver is acceptable enough to be my default print mode. It's fast enough.
Cons: It's loud, there's no getting around that. I'm not a fan of the hopper/paper feed area, and sometimes it draws more than one sheet. It takes a while to warm up and cool down.
Other Thoughts: I basically knew a lot of the faults ahead of time, and even after experiencing them firsthand, I'd recommend it to friends (at the rebate price, that is, and after making sure they know about the cons). An ideal printer for students; the price is right and I think the print looks much better than ink jets, and it's fast so you can print in a hurry before running to class.

Not very loud, starts/stops fast
Pros: CHEAP, toner saver mode, quiet, starts up fast, stops fast. I just printed a pdf and from the time I hit "print" to the time the page was done was about 10 seconds. The printer only made noise for about 5 seconds. When printing multiple pages, the second page starts coming out before the first page has stopped moving! Definetely 22+ ppm. Also very compact, it fits under my desk on a little shelf only 8 inches deep (it sticks out but it stays put). Paper tray holds a lot more than a typical inkjet tray.
Cons: replacement toner cartridge looks expensive but if it really prints 3000 pages it is a good deal.
Other Thoughts: If the toner save mode really reduces toner useage 40%, then the replacement cartridge should last 5,000 pages. That comes out to about two cents per page once you factor in paper and shipping costs. Less if you buy paper in bulk.

Great deal for the cash
Pros: Fast, cheap and simple.
Cons: It's pretty loud, power draw is significant.
Other Thoughts: Don't ever hook a laser printer to a battery backup system.

Awesome for cost
Pros: Great printer. If I felt like I had gotten any better of a deal, I would feel like I had stolen something. We've had this printer for several months, doing all of our office printing on it, and it's been great.
Cons: I suppose it takes a few seconds to warm up, but nothing out of the ordinary for any laser printer. Despite others saying that it is noisy, I don't find it to be outrageously so.
Other Thoughts: Considering that this printer is priced the same as a typical ink jet printer, if you just need black and white printing you can expect many times more prints and less hassle for the same cost.

Golly Wow!
Pros: Prints well and fast! Cheap! Extremely good value.
Cons: Sounds like a spaceship taking off when printing! (I kind of like that about it) Sometimes touchy with paper feeding/jamming, but not to the extent that it drives you crazy

Best printer for your price
Pros: Very affordable printing. Sure, you could get a color inkjet for less, but they jam and print very slowly.
Cons: No USB cable included. Cold startup time is apporx. 40 seconds, after that it is only 10 seconds for the printer to respond. Graphics don't look all that great.
Other Thoughts: At xx after rebate, one is hard pressed to find a better deal. Comparable HP printer is about $xx

Great for the Price
Pros: Cheap Laser Printer... Really Cheap.
Cons: See Pros.
Other Thoughts: Its excellent for the money. If you're thinking of getting Ink Jet for anything other than photo printing, don't bother, this is much better. Even for photo printing, its easier/better to go to photo stores and pay 25 cents for the print (rather than use special paper/ink that looks bad instead).

Excellent Printer
Pros: Very cheap and durable. A lot smaller than my previous printer. Makes interesting noises when printing and very quick shipping.
Cons: No usb cable, but most printers don't anyways.

Good price
Pros: It's affordable and prints fast.
Cons: Maybe it's the cheap paper I'm using but this thing jams all the time!

Good for the price
Pros: Fast printing. Easily installed drivers.
Cons: LOUD. Some of the paper tray pieces are a little flimsy and don't really fit that great (looks like poor engineering here). Paper tray doesn't hold a lot and the toner cartridge is pretty small (which probably means more frequent replacement, although the service life of the cartridge is supposedly 5,000 pages... we'll see).

Great bang for the $
Pros: 3rd laser I've owned in the last decade. The others were HP. How can you beat what you get for this insanely inexpensive printer? For the money, it's reasonable to just toss this thing once the starter toner cartridge is exhausted.
I wonder if the people who complain about the noise never owned a laser? OK, it's a tad louder than I've had and the fan stays on for awhile but not bad at all.
Cons: Wow, couldn't Samsung put in a USB cable at their cost of probably $.25? I can see a day in the not too distant future where we have to buy our own power cable as well.

5 Stars!
Pros: Amazing value. Easy to install, fast printing, and compact size all make this a great personal laser printer. Good power saving mode and fast start-up when a job is sent. Also, the toner-save mode is great for most jobs that don't need big and bold lettering.
Cons: None that I can tell. Some reviews of this printer have mentioned the noise it creates as a con but I think it is no worse than any other laser printer I have used. They obviously need fans and it really isn't that bad.
Other Thoughts: Being a graduate student, I print a LOT of text and diagram based documents. This printer is excellent for all of those things and the value just cannot be beat. ALSO, the toner is around $xx on newegg which is relatively inexpensive for laser toners. Excellent choice!
