Paper Jam
Pros: None
Cons: Every other paper fed jams. Dual trays are a pain. If you have envelopes in one and regular paper in the other and forget, the printer picks the envelopes to write your letters on. Prints pictures, sub par then takes days to dry. Price way to high for such a mediocre printer. Numerous other quirks, like resetting the printer, which is a pain after paper jams. Included software is buggy.
Other Thoughts: I bought the Brother all in one printer from a local office store. Finally the end came for this printer when the paper got jammed once again, but this time so bad that it damaged the printer heads. This printer lasted for about one year. This was a replacement for the same printer that I had problems with for the previous 3 months. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to throw this out the window, but I paid so much for this junk, I was just trying to get my money out of it. My printer from another company starting with a C was a lot better for the 3rd of the price, lasted 4 years, had very few jams and printed photographs much better. Do your self a favor and go with something else

was great for 6months...
Pros: -All In One features, who doesn't like that..when they work...was okay for six months...
Cons: I'm very disappointed in my purchase. I bought this printer thinking it was going to be a decent purchase based on the reviews and yes quite a few bucks more than just a printer but i thought that would remove me of the hassle of dealing with something that would break easy...My fiance's business used this for about 20-30pages of printing a week for 6months. Today it wont pick up the paper and continually thinks it has no paper no matter what tray you use. I'm angry that I've got to go buy another all-in-one and that this one failed after relatively light use. Yes, I could spend what, almost one hundred dollars to send this back to brother to get them to fix it or I could go find another one that wont break after 6months. I don't recommend this printer.
-Loud, not recommended for offices. -Slow printing for printing out receipts for customers, takes a long time to load paper.

Great Printer but False PPM
Pros: Good Price, Brother quality, Does what it says
Cons: Slow, bad USB cord placement, tends to jam with labels
Other Thoughts: I think this is a nice printer, but there is one thing that really enrages me. The materials state that this printer prints up to 30 ppm black and 25 color. THIS IS A BLATANT LIE. The way they get away with this is that there is a "draft" mode that does print this fast. But the quality in this mode is so bad that it is basically unusable. The next mode up is "normal" which is good, and I tested it and it prints 2 pages per minute. YES THAT IS CORRECT- TWO PPM, b+w or color. Also the black cartridge is rated at 900 pages. That is also another lie. It is about 1/2 that for any normal user. But I'm getting my revenge, I'm not buying ink from Brother. The USB cord plug in is located in the middle of the machine which wastes 1 ft. of cord. Since you can't use longer than a 6 ft cord, it is now a 5 ft. cord.

Great Printer for Small Office
Pros: Great Multifunction Printer for the price for small office, I'm very impressed! Make sure you set the network IP manually to avoid issues. It's in the book how to set it manually.
Cons: none.

Nice little Multi Function
Pros: Nicest little inkjet multifunction I've seen for the money. Drivers work, accessory software works, the network works.
Heck, the whole thing just works. Happy users.
Cons: I guess the output 'tray' could be bigger... but I think that is not really a 'fit' with the intended use of this printer.
Big document runs should have laser rather than inkjet technology anyway. Unless you own an ink factory or shares of Brother stock.
Other Thoughts: Maybe If they added double paper trays... it would be perfect.

Pros: AWESOME all-in-one color networked fax printer scanner.
This little all-in-one has functions which are only on higher-end more expensive office copier/fax/scanner machines.
It has a built-in card reader which can be mapped from workstations on the network.
It has a network accessible scanner, so you scan to any computer on the LAN (you have to load the TWAIN driver). You can even use the document feeder from your desk; just put the pages in, then on your computer tell it to scan the pages from the document feeder. Great when you want to convert a few pages into a PDF.
It has a network accessible fax, so you can send a fax from any computer on the LAN just like you would print to it.
And of course it is a network shared printer. Additionally, there are 2 paper trays and you can select which tray is default for everything. We have photo paper in the small tray and plain paper in the big tray (which is set to default).
Cons: Printing photos ... so-so quality ... not bad, but definitely not as good as one coming from a Canon photo printer.
Lack of a manual feed tray, which makes it a pain when you want to print or copy something onto the back of a page. You have pull out the larger paper tray and put it in there.
Other Thoughts: Would definitely buy this again. I've also recommended it to several people.

Nicely done Brother
Pros: Nice printer. Relatively well constructed (by today’s standards) and comes with all the necessary hardware with the exception of a CAT5 wire which is no big deal. The installation was almost completely intuitive from the moment you open the box until you install the hardware. Having a wireless and wired network plus the aggressive use of a network firewall, I was mentally prepared to have to perform a series of tweaks to get the system working. I was pleasantly surprised the see the installation go thru 100% without a single problem. After a quick reboot, we were printing thru the network (wireless and wired). The hardest part was finding the password for the remote management tool. Network functionality (scanning and faxing) were both as quick as my old USB2 scanner. Automatic document feeder was relatively quick and smooth. Software and drivers are very intuitive to deal with and are free of the typical bugs noted with other well known brands.
Cons: Make sure you have a network or USB cable.
Other Thoughts: In conclusion, I thus far have only positive things to say about the printer.

Pretty Good, Not Bad
Pros: * Cheap * Reasonably Fast * Color not terrible * Network-accessible * Works pretty well overall
I bought this printer to be a cheap, network-accessible all-in-one style printer. My network has both Linux and Windows computers of various OS revisions. This printer can handle print jobs from all of them. I can't comment on the USB part since I've only used it with ethernet. It has acceptable color and b&w printing, copying and faxing (never faxed in color though-- does it do that?) The ink seems to last a long time and I've had no trouble at all using third-party ink refills (MUCH cheaper!)
I bought this printer largely because it was cheap but also because research indicated it works well with Linux. That turned out to be true! The drivers for Linux aren't included but you can download them from their website. Newer distros appear to have the drivers built-in now anyway too, so that helps.
It scans acceptably but only works with the WINDOWS-only driver they give you.
Cons: My BIGGEST complaint with this printer is its small paper tray size: 150 sheets. I didn't even think of it when I bought it-- but that's MINISCULE! I am always cursing having to refill the blessed thing. I wish it had a larger paper tray. I found out awhile later after I bought it that there's a "next model up" that I could have gotten with two larger trays... (slaps forehead!)
All of the paper tray stuff (tray, guide, etc) feels "flimsy" and I always think its going to break when I'm reloading the tray. Fortunately it hasn't yet but I don't like that part either.
Occasionally it will "freeze up", when left sitting idle for a long time (weeks) but a quick reboot always solves the problem.
The menus are a little clumsy to get around in, but you generally only need that once to set it up so is not a huge problem. It works pretty well from the computer anyway if you install the WINDOWS-only configuration software.
Other Thoughts: Anyway, I've had this thing for awhile now, well over a year-- and while it has its pros and cons-- overall I like it, and would buy it (or preferably, the next model up) again.
