It works, mostly
Pros: I'm being slightly generous with 2 eggs, but it does work, at least most of the time.
Cons: Let me count the ways. Terrible resource hog, it's slow to start printing and kind of locks things up during the wait. Swills ink like a drunk at an open bar, and no I don't have it on presentation nor do I print many pictures. Irritating little pop up window tells me it's printing. Yes I know that, I told it to and it's only a foot from my left arm. Emailed HP and first they said it couldn't be stopped, then finally said I could make some registry changes and it might stop it. But on a networked computer at work, I'm not going there and neither of 2 different IT support personnel would either. I liked the old software better.
Other Thoughts: Between home and work I think this is my 5th HP multifunction, so I'm familiar with the product. It's a printer and it prints, the feeder is nice, but the software/drivers are so bloated it really slows things up. I would not purchase this product again.

Awesome
Pros: A great all-in-one for the price. I have tried the printer, fax, scanner, copier and photo printing. Everything is above average. Photos are unbelievable. Even transferred a photo from my cell using bluetooth and got a beautiful print. This is a great unit.
Cons: A bit hard to get the wireless setup working. E-mail correspondence with HP is useless. They don't have a clue. Finally got it done on my own and it now works like they say that it should.
Other Thoughts: After you install with the green disk go to the HP support site and download the new drivers, firmware update and the HP Solution Center update. Install these before you do anything else. This will save you some headaches.

Printer w/love
Pros: The printer itself is something to look at. Pretty and sleek it prints beautifully for what I need it for. The wireless was a snap to link up with my router and the bluetooth feature located my phone and linked up with no problems. The color LCD screen is bright so working in the dark is no problem. All in all it's a wonderful machine that replaced my bother MFC.
Cons: Well the only con out of this was the software that was provided. It was horrible, a consistent battle with it. Still till this day :*(
Other Thoughts: Upon reading almost all the 29 reviews a major stand out was the bloated drives and the software. If you have another kind of scanning software it links right up to it with no problems which is awesome so I had no need for HP's software. And as for the bloated drives download the basic drivers and you'll be ok. So for all that have this problem just remember that there are other software's that work just fine if you DO purchase this wonderful printer.

Regret buying it
Pros: Nice features: duplex printing, high-res network scanning; built-in fax, good price-point. The print quality is decent.
Cons: No Windows Server drivers available. I had to use a work station as the print server. The driver CD did not work with Windows 7. The software on the HP site does but it did not install the other printer applications correctly. I cannot get duplex printing to work right. Nor does network scanning work. Every attempt to scan to a computer fails with a non-descript error message. Very frustrating
Other Thoughts: In all a very disappointing HP experience. I had a HP laserjet before that lasted 11 years without a problem. This printer comes nowhere near the standard that was set by HP back then.

Driver bloat, randomly disconnects
Pros: When it works it prints with good quality.
Cons: Some of the most horribly bloated drivers I have ever seen. 70MB for the basic print drivers, 140MB for the full feature print drivers. Installation program takes forever (full feature drivers kept failing after installing for over 1.5 hours, took over an hour to install the basic driver software). After all that the printer randomly decides to disconnect from the wireless network after periods of inactivity, with the only to get it back on by doing a hard reset on the printer.
Other Thoughts: HP keeps getting worse and worse on the driver bloat.

Wonderful Printer
Pros: Prints wonderful pictures and text documents, and at high speeds too. It is one of the fastest inkjet/laser printers on the consumer market as of today.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: For all of those saying "this thing is such an ink hog and ran out in 20 prints"... These printers come with starter cartridges, and is recommended by any place you were to buy a printer at to purchase a full set right away, as they do only come about a third of the way full. Also, when you actually look at the price per page of printing the thing does, it roughly equates to 1.7 cents black printing and 2.4 cents for color. (5% coverage of the paper, a normal color print) Take this from a man that works with printers for a living, this thing is wonderful for home printing!

Great Printer for the money but...
Pros: Purchased this printer for my home to replace an old Canon Ink Jet. The printer has plenty of good options and is very versatile. The print quality is good and speed was a bit slow, but nothing to become aggravated over. I have tested most functions to include the fax and they were flawlessly. My only issue is that the printer only allows for one connection, whether it be wireless or hardwired (USB) to your computer. I initially had it hardwired and this caused an error with my network card. I re-installed and tried it wirelessly, but that lasted a week. It may be my aging computer, but it can not work wirelessly with it so had to go through a wired network connection. I am unsure if this was experienced by others.
Cons: none

Best Printer I've EVER had!
Pros: Not only was this printer one of the cheapest duplex-printing machines I could find on the net, it just so turns out that it works to replace my old (and broken) Kodak Easyshare printer dock and ALSO supports duplex scanning AND comes with software for taking duplexed docs and putting them into PDF files that have been processed with OCR, plus it can fax and supports bluetooth and WiFi and has a card reader & usb port and can make storage you plug in act as network storage. It's so loaded with features my eyes are tearing up with joy :*)
It's slightly more expensive per photo using this instead of an easyshare printer dock, but the price difference is negligible (a penny or two). I think it's worth the cost though, since the photos print WAY faster and have essentially the same quality. Besides, the cost is made up in cheaper printing (separate cartridges are very convenient)
Cons: It won't recognize my 250 GB external USB HDD from the photo reader USB port on the front. It would have been uber-awesome if I could use it as a HDD server on my network, especially with the speeds it has over the network (I was able to flawlessly stream a video from my flash drive connected to the printer that was ~400 kbps)
Other Thoughts: With Ooma working as my free phone/fax/satellite connection service, this absolutely amazing do-everything printer, a flash drive made into network storage via my printer, separate ink carts, and a couple routers that support ddwrt (very stable and configurable), I'm saving loads of money. If you set things up right with ddwrt, you can even print/fax/etc from WAN side.
It's very convenient being able to print photos directly from my phone, fax anywhere in the house (free of charge), print photos anywhere in the house, duplex scan and print, and give files to my parents without actually going upstairs (network flash drive).
Contrary to other reviews, I believe this printer is fairly sturdy.
PS. Here's a shout out to all the workers at Newegg! Once again, a great product delivered at the speed of light and for less cost than I believe to have benefited from your services! Thanks Newegg!

Great printer
Pros: It was very easy to get this AIO installed and running. I did not use the enclosed disc. I downloaded the latest/greatest install file from HP. Installing the software was rather easy and didn't take much more time than installing any other printer software.
The prints are great. Pictures rival those of Kodak printers.
I wasn't restricted to the HP software for printing on discs. I was able to design in Nero and print from there.
Cons: It takes a long time for it to decide to print, after it has been sleeping.
Ink isn't cheap and the colors are used fast.
Other Thoughts: This unit is far better than the Kodak AIO that it replaced.

HP 309a Photosmart
Pros: Prints great pictures and copies relatively fast. Wireless setup was a breeze and 2 sided copies save lots of paper in our house
Cons: Goes offline all by itself after long periods of non activity but wont come back online no matter what buttons you push or try to power it down. Only recourse is to unplug it and let it start back up. HP suggested it was software and to reinstall it all and it still does it. Irritating when in other parts of the house on wi-fi and have to go to room its in to restart it almost daily.

No 2-sided scanning
Pros: Beautiful photos and relative ease with printing, altho 4x6 envelopes are a challenge with errors showing that paper size is incorrect.
Cons: First used in September, WinVista 32-bit and had great 2-sided scanning--one of the features I wanted when I purchased. On installing in a new computer, that feature has vanished. Worse yet, their Tech Support insists that it does not support 2-sided scanning, even when I tell them that it does so on the old computer!

Complicated, but with great fetures!
Pros: When I bought this printer I knew I would be impressed, well I was! HP did a great job with the features of the printer with things like blue-tooth and the FAX copy combo, I use it to print photos and the quality of the photos are amazing. Copying is insanely easy and working with a memory stick from a camera is too. FAX works well, not amazing but OK, don't have major complaints over the phone line FAX. Like the scanner, good addon as well.
Cons: This is not the most simple printer ever known to man though, installation disk isn't very good, best to download from HP's website especially if you are using windows 7.The slider an the photo tray is a wee bit faulty, already having issues keeping it in line, if you check it its fine, photo tray was just difficult when sliding down. Also eats up its wonderfully expensive ink very fast, the gray scale ink helps... but not too much.
Other Thoughts: Overall I recommend this printer, I use a Nikon D90 SLR camera with a large Sigma lens, prints my photos great!

Had it for a month and love it.
Pros: It prints great photos and the cd printing makes your work look professional. The built-in paper tray for photo paper is really handy (holds 4x6 or 5x7 paper). The special tray for cds holds one at a time and fits into a fold down door that accepts it. The printer pulls it in like a piece of paper, prints and spits it out. The build quality seems better than the last hp all-in-one I had. I especially like the duplex printing which is automatic on this model. It will pause to dry the first side and suck it back in and print the other side. The ink does go down fast as noted in other reviews if you do alot of pictures or cds but my past printers suffered from this same expense. It's still better than going to the drugstore with film. I've heard the same complaints about other brands. The ability to replace each cartridge separately can come in handy.
Cons: For some reason the print black cartridge is twice the price of the other colors, including the black photo cartridge. Does that make any sense? Also, the software is very useful but like most hp printers, it's blotted to the max. It works great once you get it installed and conflicts worked out. The cd printing software is almost useless with only a couple templates. Buy any auxiliary program (like Acoustica) and you'll love printing directly on the dvds and cds.
Other Thoughts: This is the only product from hp that I found right now that does it all, photo printing, direct disk printing, duplex printing, faxing, and scanning. Oh, and it's wireless! Can't beat it.

C309a
Pros: My second HP printer..have always been impressed. Newegg price, awesome!
Cons: Impressed?, not so much, wish I could access the essentials. My computer doesn't seem to want to run the program. over 2 hrs on phone today (remote fix)& live chat 1 1/2 hr. last eve. they tried everything..now even my old program from my cheaper All in One won't run. They'll call me in 2-3 days when they get some new ideas from the makers.
Other Thoughts: I'm bummed! Was so looking forward to messing with my pics again. Not sure if I'll stick with HP

Don't listen to the complainers
Pros: Setup and install was very easy using the latest drivers from HP's website. I have it installed on both XP and Vista with zero issues.
Awesome looking documents and almost professional quality photo prints.
Scans come out looking great, although I have not tried a duplex scan yet.
Connection to my wireless network was a breeze.
Cons: No fax over web/voip
Other Thoughts: Will try to install on windows 7 in a few weeks when I upgrade one of my laptops. Let you know how that goes.

Great Printer
Pros: Easy to install using the latest drivers from the HP web site. It takes about 30+ minutes to do the intial install.
Pictures and print are outstanding.
Duplex printing works well. Before the printer prints on the reverse side, there is a pause. Probably best to just walk away when printing a long document.
Cons: The only real complaint I have is the CD/DVD design software. It is the pits. I am unable to adjust the size of a graphic and move it.
Some mentioned they had used another program to do this. I sure wish I knew what they used.
I did an on line chat with HP, put they had no clue what I was talking about.
As some other folks have mentioned, this printer does makes a fair amount of noise when it is doing what ever it does when it is not printing. This is no worst than the other all in one printer. It is more than tolerable.
Other Thoughts: Over all I really enjoy using this printer. If HP had a better CD/DVD design software it would be perfect.
I would by this printer again

Very versitile and works well so far.
Pros: Does everything I know of that a printer can actually do. CD/DVD(Blu-Ray) printing option a real plus, and so is the dedicated input tray for photo paper. Scanning (with a little hickup detailed below) is awesome. Setup and works great on network (used wired because it's right under my router).
Cons: Sometimes clicks and whirs for a bit before first page out; even with minimum ink volume and minimum dry time set it pauses before duplexing a page,--some other HPs don't. One suggestion for HP: some kind of fax to web or over some kinda VOIP service would be nice as less and less of us have land lines.
Other Thoughts: Perhaps all the people crying about this printer and it's horrible software were dumb enough to use the driver CD. I downloaded the newer version from the web and while install took a while it's worked great. On other computers (Windows 7) I just double-clicked it in the network "explorer". One note: it's best to install most everything, software-wise. I spent an hour or two trying to do a duplex scan until I eventually realized I needed to go back and install the 'HP Solution Center' software. Luckily I figured it out myself by an oblique reference in their online support (the more direct references--including the main how-to animation show duplex scanning being a choice and just working from the device--that menu item isn't there by default but can be setup through 'Solution Center'). The third-world script reader I started to work with may or may not have gotten there, HP's support could certainly be better.

Don't buy this!
Pros: looks nice, high quality photo prints, nice chimes
Cons: terrible to work with. hp software is junk. any minor problem, such as a drop in the electrical current and you have to reinstall the whole software package. this after uninstalling all of the software. a total pain. scan interface is way to complicated and does not work well.
Other Thoughts: hp has other all in ones that do a better job for less money.

Awesome - Rockin - Printer Scanner
Pros: Connected to my secure wireless network, Lynksis WRT300N Router, perfectly. Printed photos on 4"x6" photo paper and also a picture on printable DVD effortlessly! Makes color Multipage PDF documents!!!! No install issues - But I did read and follow instructions! The print on DVD is really awesome, I can't stop looking at it (my daughter playing guitar) almost photo quality! Overall Rating is 5 eggs and Rocking to boot!
Cons: It is noisy! Takes a little while to setup, but worth it!
Other Thoughts: Download latest driver and install software from HP. Version 13 or for XP. Read the manual and Follow the instructions!!! HP printers are typically very tough!! In the past I have had some software issues with HP but I get the feeling that the drivers and software for this printer are solid!! If you are very lucky you might find it on sale. Then it's a no brainer - buy it! before it's too late!!!!! You won't be sorry.

HP has failed for the last time!!!
Pros: They're not grey or beige anymore.
Cons: This thing is a piece of Indian JUNK! I have had nothing but issues with it, none of which the glorified goat herders at HP iIndia can even begin to try to act helpful about nor do they care. It takes over 5 minutes to print each page as it stalls and stalls, it sucks up ink like a Ferarri sucks gas, and now, after installing HP updates today, it doesn't work at all. WHen it *was* working, it made a bad clicking sound when printing and could take up to 60 seconds to print a B&W page in fast draft mode. Usually, it doesn't want to work at all, and now just gives me errors. Called HP "Support and he had no clue after looking it up in his book. Asked if he could call me back, didn't try one thing to fix it. Will call back in 15 minutes, it's been an hour and no call. That is what they have told me in the past. I have bought my last HP product EVER after buying nothing but for 10 years. HP has ripped me off for the last time!! Don't even get me started with my 2 HP laptop issues
Other Thoughts: Will NEVER buy ANYTHING HP AGAIN!!!! Buyer beware, this thing is a glorified paperweight.

Falls way short of potential
Pros: What it does, it seems to do well. BUT.
Cons: The documentation is scarce, it just doesn't say how to do many things or if it can do them. Spent two hours on the phone with their tech support doing remote control of our Vista computer and they still can't install or configure WiFi operations. They say scan/copy via BT isn't possible at all, nice surprise.
Installation seems to have some problems with conventional router security OR Windows Firewall, but doesn't say which, and disabling both didn't solve things either.
HP's tech support in New Delhi really seems like a burger clerk trying his best to follow a script--with no real knowledge of network setup issues and only slightly better guesses at what the printer is supposed to do, or how.
Two hours of remote support, 4 install attempts on my own, read the docs for the little they are worth...This one may have to go back, because we just can't set it up. I think two hours of remote control by an HP tech should be MORE than enough to set up one printer, no?

Great for Linux, Windows, Mac
Pros: Multi-platform, network scanning, multi-page PDF scanning, duplex, great quality printing, flexible printing options, great software from HP. This printer set up easily on Windows XP, Windows 7, and Ubuntu Linux. This is the first network scanner I've ever had luck with on Linux and the best network printer support I've ever seen on Linux as well. Many thanks to HP for the great integration work. Very few vendors are giving Linux the attention I would like them to.
Cons: This printer sits right next to my desk. When it prints, it's noisy - and when it's done, it adjusts/parks itself for some time after it's finished. So it's a little annoying at times. I've had trouble printing CDs/DVDs as well, but that's not something I really bought this for.
Other Thoughts: I'm only using wired networking, so everything's very smooth regarding connectivity; I can't comment on other users' complaints about the wireless. This device has replaced a laser printer, a photo inkjet, and a scanner - and it does a better job than any of the devices it's replacing!

pohtosmart premium
Pros: Beautiful look. Awesome photo. Fast photo print.
Cons: Slow text printing. Manual doesn't tell how to print 2 sided or fax, scan and copy two sided.
Other Thoughts: Does anyone know if this printer can print large letter size 8'' by 11'' photo. Because it seem to me the photo tray are very small it could probably only hold up to 5'' by 7'' photo max.

C309a
Pros: This is a great printer. Documents and photos both come out looking great and the printing is fast for this class of printer. The fax, scanner, and copier functions all work just as advertised and are dead easy. The setup was simple and so far, all 3 computers on the network can use it without issue.
Cons: The setup was kind of slow. This printer is fairly large and heavy and some consideration for space and weight should be made before you get it.
Other Thoughts: I would definitely buy this printer again and have no regrets.

Great printer.
Pros: Set up on three different operating systems in my wired network; Win XPsp3, Vista 64, and Win7 RC (Win7 RC required some google research to get through the driver install.) The 4 x 6 pictures this printer prints are amazing! I can't tell the difference between these prints and developed film. Regular documents are lazer quality in my opinion. Haven't used the CD labeler or fax yet.
Cons: None with the printer. My Verizon phone won't let me send my pics over bluetooth to the printer (yet). Wonder how ink consumption will be?
Other Thoughts: Hope I can reload the inks like on my HP 1500 series AIO! I guess I will find out!
If you are using firewall software, make sure you open up the ports outlined in the HP basics guide page 11, or you won't be able to print unless those ports are enabled.

Best Photosmart printer!!
Pros: This printer has it all: highest inkjet resolution, scanner/document feeder, fax, two sided scans and prints, LAN, Wifi and bluetooth connectivity. The first photographs printed look amazing, the first text pages the same. I needed to scan2pdf several documents and the document feeder + the dual side scan helped me a lot. iPhone and Sony Ericsson phones print directly using the HP iPhone ap to network printing and bluetooth.
Cons: Like all photograph printers the ink goes away as fuel to an old V8. I have to say this isn't something to take away stars from the product since I haven't seen any printer with this resolution which consume less ink: yeah, there are bigger cartridges from HP (ie HP88) but an Officejet printer is quite lesser than a Photosmart in resolution and quality.
Other Thoughts: DON'T INSTALL THE SOFTWARE FROM THE CD. I work at a Printer Cartridge remanufacturing company and after installing 50 printers from HP doing so from the CD is like auto-brain surgery. Never had any problems with HP site's software. Make sure to buy the XL cartridges, not a great value since the cost of the ink is nearly equal to the regular cartridges but at least they will last longer. Make sure to use Fast Draft with Black Ink Cartridge only setting to save ink while printing regular documents: remember high quality text use ALL colors.

I like it
Pros: Set up was easy. Vista 64 found this printer on the network rather easy. Nice bright screen on the printer. Pages seem to collate nicely, haven't had any jams yet. Seems like a solidly built printer at this point. No issues with the Wireless connectivity at this point.
Cons: None to report so far.
Other Thoughts: I've owned other all in one printers but this is my first wireless, but I'm happy so far. Haven't used the fax machine yet.

HP makes yet again another awesome printer
Pros: Fast prints, pictures are vivid and bright, great software
Cons: paper jams too easily
Other Thoughts: Let me start of by saying this is the 5th HP AIO printer I have purchased and I have to say it's the best one yet! I love the new design and its many features are easily accessible.
One of the reasons for this purchase is that I take many pictures and it's my opinion that if you are going to take pictures with a good quality camera you should be able to print good quality pictures. This printer does that....when the paper doesn't jam! I hate to say it, but that is the down side of this wonderful creation by HP. I use high end photo paper and it's not cheap neither is the ink so when I get a paper jam, or the print is uneven, I am throwing money down the drain. It's not jamming all the time though, only occationally. As for the price, a little on the pricy side, but well worth it!! Fax is great too! Connected and worked first try. WiFi is a little glitchy at first but I finally connected all 3 PC's to the printer. Overall, LOVE LOVE this printer!!

HP 309a ok but problems
Pros: Its fast printing with easy view display.
Cons: Wireless communication errors up the wazu! 1) Looses wireless connection. I have two computers on on router. That took a couple hours to get those sinked right to work on my computer. Something else also interferes with the frequency signal used for this machine. 2) Complicated default settings that make no sense. This makes my old printer seem super easy and a breeze. 3) Looses default settings 4) Looses front panel "scan to" settings 5) Slow scanning start up 6) "Scan to Folder" settings don't always stay where you set them to-they default back to where printer feels like defaulting to. 7) Too many steps to make it scan to proper folder and doesn't remember the last scan folder settings you did last. Took hours to even get it set so it would scan close to a folder I would scan to on a regular basis. 8) I do mostly scanning docs to folders. In scan operation on this printer, it is putting a pink back ground on to my copies.
Other Thoughts: I don't like HP. I bought this cause my other Epson Stylus uses so much ink I thought I'd try something else and I'm tired of spending so much $$ on ink. This also had a good screen I could see in the dark. Maybe Kadak really is the way to go. I will know soon as I try one of those out from Best Buy. I WILL return this to Newegg.

Ink consumption is awful!
Pros: Nice looking machine. Provides good quality prints
Cons: Ink consumption is horrendous! I had black in run out after printing no more than 20 single pages of text. I called HP to complain about the ink consumption and they effectively told me to get lost! Be the last time I ever purchase any HP product. It's an Gluten on ink consumption..... so beware!

GREAT Wireless Printer
Pros: I couldn't be happier with my choice to use this wireless network printer. It's fast, prints nice pictures and text and I really like the 2 bay design so you can keep paper and 4x6 photo paper in the machine at the same time. The print straight onto DVDs works very fast and very well, too.
Cons: The "photoshop" software is a little buggy. It will crash occassionally and ask to be closed. Interestingly enough, this doesn't impact the ability to print and doesn't happen when in use - just during idle times. More of an annoyance than a performance impact, so I'll ding the printer 1 star for that. Otherwise it would get a 5.
