Rating + 5 Great Point and Shoot Camera

Pros: Great look with the silver and crome accents. Easy to use, even a beginner can pick up and take great photos. Easy to plug and download pictures on any computer.

Cons: Does show fingerprints, but a small price to pay for the good looks. Flash is a little weak, only good for about 6 feet. Does not work well at all with long distance, dim shots (i.e. wedding, party, concert, etc.)

Rating + 5 great camera in a nice package

Pros: great form factor, still has an optical viewfinder, good software bundle, easy menu navigation, fast transfer speeds

Cons: not many cons. I wish the autofocus was a touch faster. some goods pics get away as the camera takes too long to take the picture.

Other Thoughts: over all great camera. Love the small size. Fits in my coat pocket without anyone knowing. Nice viewfinder and still has an optical viewfinder, a MUST for me. I got the 2 GB card with it and that was a good decision.

Rating + 5 A Great Pocket Camera

Pros: Small, high-resolution, quick, easy image transfer, sharp lens, lots of valuable features

Cons: Get a cover for the LCD - it scratches easily!

Other Thoughts: I have been a commercial photographer for 30 years, and needed a little point-and-shoot that still retained some quality. The SD600 has performed flawlessly. I carry it in my coat pocket every day, and have been thoroughly impressed. Two things - get a 2GB memory card, an extra battery, and a cover for the LCD viewer. I picked up the eFilm cover by Delkin, which comes with a nifty filp-out shade and cover that is detachable.

This camera is a great buy and a strong performer. You cannot go wrong.

Rating + 5 Just right

Pros: Takes great pictures, lots of fun settings, especially isolation of a single color, or transposing two colors. Almost all of my pictures on the automatic settings are great, which is good because I don't want to worry about it most of the time. Loads relatively fast.

Cons: Software is only so-so, pictures with flash are sometimes whited out. Pictures with zoom are shaky (most of that is me though). Can't charge the battery while it is still in the camera.

Other Thoughts: I can't say enough about this camera. I am not a photography expert and was looking for something simple that would take great pictures of my new baby. This camera is my first digital and it has met and exceeded my expectations.

Pros: Camera very well made and reliable. Quick.

Cons: Not much here

Other Thoughts: Almost identical to SD630 just with smaller screen. Get the 630 is you are someone who want a higher quality larger screen

Rating + 5 Exceptional for size and price

Pros: Small, low cost, robust and high quality digital photos. What else can I say apart from I love It!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I had an S100 for over 6 years (1st of the Digital Elph line) and this camera is basically an improved version. That shows the good quality of the metal cased point and shoot units. Also New Egg rocks!

Rating + 5 Fantastic little camera!

Pros: Takes great pictures. Hi ISO modes handle action and low light admirably. "Auto" settings take great pictures. Just enough manual control to cover when auto doesn't cut it. It goes from off to ready to shoot almost instantly. Small but durable. Beautiful screen. Pretty.

Cons: Tiny optical view finder is pretty useless, though it's nice to have if you absolutely need to stretch out that last few pictures worth of battery power.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't ask for anymore in a ultra-compact at this price point.

Rating + 5 Canon SD600 - Very nice, here's why.

Pros: Aside from what some reviewers are saying, this is NOT a plastic camera, nor does it have the SUPER light weigh as some might have you believe. The SD600 is an all metal constucted body with one exception: the battery flap. The 2.5" viewing screen is of excellent quality, having adjustable brightnesses. The menu options are fairly intuitive if you have some previous digital camera experience. The ISO levels are great for this price range of a point-n-shoot camera. The video quality is very nice too, with different level settings. Be sure to get at least a 1GB SD card for this, or just fork over the extra $$ for the 2GB (Max) SD card.

Cons: The flash is not super bright. Remember, this is not a $500 camera. For it's price, it can't be beat (ie, Sony DSC-W50, a truly comparable model is not as good). Canon should have made the battery/memory card cover metal LIKE THE REST OF THE CAMERA. But with a little knowledge on how to open it without forcing it, you should have many great years a pictures with this camera.

Other Thoughts: Even with the minor 'Cons' listed, they do not lessen the 5-EGG rating I am giving. For under $250, this IS THE CAMERA to get!

Rating + 5 A nice compact digital camera

Pros: Very compact, and very high quality pictures. Very low shutter lag. LCD is bright and battery life is long.

Cons: If you need a spare battery, be prepared to shell out $40+

Other Thoughts: I have had this camera for a few months now, it is a very nice (price/performance) camera for day-to-day point and shoot usage.

Pros: GREAT Camera! The Picture quality is just AWESOME! I love how they have all the different modes for taking pictures in Sepia, Black & White, Etc.. AND The video quality is AMAZING! Even in a dim room its really clear!

Cons: The Door for the battery seems like it "might" be a problem in the future.. cause it looks a little weak, but thats about it!

Other Thoughts: I initially purchased this for my boyfriend for a Valentines Day Gift.. I liked it so much Im puchasing one for myself too! I Think this camera is very easy to use, its small enough that you can fit it anywhere! Its a GREAT buy for the price!! =]

Rating + 5 Great buy

Pros: Great videos! Great pictures! Decent Battery that came with it lasts a fair length of time. Easy to navigate menus.

Cons: Like someone else said, included memory card is a joke. New ones are pretty cheap, including the one I got a bundle deal from Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I would have liked a battery meter but at least you get a warning when the battery is getting low. I don't know how effectively all the camera picture settings work, like "snow" for taking pictures when there's a lot of snow, etc. I'm very happy with this product, it's one of my favorite purchases from Newegg.

Rating + 5 Fun little camera

Pros: Great little point and shoot. Compact enough for a purse. Easy to take to places and situations where my larger digital SLR would be too much to carry. Lots of fun!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is a good camera for taking everywhere. You never know when that great picture is there waiting. I own the Canon EOS 20D for those serious, important, artistic shots. But for those every day fun shots, this little camera is just the ticket. The ISO settings make it nice for dinners and evenings out when a flash just would be intrusive.

Pros: Just got my Canon SD600 as I just ordered it yesterday. This is my second Canon digital camera, so understanding of the controls was very easy. I inserted a 4GB card and was ready to shoot some high quality pictures. The pictures turned out great and the video is not too bad.

Cons: My camera didn't have the little blue sticker. The camera looked new and the packaging inside was all sealed, so hopefully it's not a returned camera.

Rating + 5 Best Purchase ever

Pros: I did a lot od research before buying this caera and I am glad I di b/c I LOVE it. It is compact and can fit in my pocket easily. The pictures come out clear. I love that you can take video and edit it right on the camera. I bought the extra memory card and I can take pics for days without it getting full. The battery charger is wireless and the best one I have used to date. I have taken 500 pics and 3 - 3 minute videos and still have not had to charge the battery. I cannot say enough good things about this camera.

Cons: Make sure you have the flash on Auto when you take indoor pics or they may come out blurry.

Other Thoughts: I recommend buying the combo pack from NewEgg if it is offered. It is a tremendous deal.

Rating + 1 Canon SD600

Pros: I like the Canon SD600 camera, the options it comes with and all that.

Cons: I received my camera, and the next day I could not turn it ON. I fully recharged the battery and it turned ON but after turning it OFF again, it didn't want to come ON again. So I received a defect product. I expected the camera will work for at least 2 years, but it seems it broke down, after just 1 day :(

Rating + 5 The thing is so much fun.

Pros: Simply Amazing. The camera is so easy to use. The controls are easy to figure out. All I can say is that the camera is more fun than a GameBoy DS. Plus the images are great.

Cons: The door on the video and usb ports is annoying, but besides that the camera is perfect.

Other Thoughts: I think this will be my camera for a long time. I don't see any reason to replace it. The pictures are great, the videos are good (however I just wanted it for the pictures so that is an added bonus), and the battery life is awesome. Also, I don't know Sony too well, but I think this can beat the pants off of their product by a long shot. Then again, I would never buy a product by Sony. It might have a root kit...somehow.

Rating + 5 one of my best Investments

Pros: I love this Camera. I had a Friend who had the 3 mega pixel model couple years back and his was good. After experiencing his camera for a couple of years seeing the Great quality it produced I finally got my own. The 6 megapixel takes great shots in all different exposures and I love the Video option! Ive made full 5 min videos with just my canon and the quality of the videos is sharp and clean!

Cons: Can't take far away shots...but that's ok, the camera isn't for that..lol

Other Thoughts: I recommend the Camera to anyone who is crazy about taking pictures at any time or place and popin them on your pc. You wont Regret the $$ you spend on it.

Pros: Very small, included rechargeable battery, phenomenal movies, excellent value

Cons: Flash is too bright, causing a lot of red eye in dark rooms.

Other Thoughts: I was in the market for a subcompact, so my choices were already slim. This is a very popular model, and for good reason. Despite the low price, it is abundant with great features. I was so satisfied with this purchase, when it came time to buy a replacement as a gift, I couldn't resist buying another.

Pros: Quick turn on time. Good Resolution. Nice big LCD screen. Be careful not to crack it though. This is a great point and shoot,I would not suggest for serious photographers but for the average photo taker it is perfect. I love being able to record video as well 640 size is awesome for such a tiny little camera. Pictures come out very clear. There are lots of nice settings and a great shutter speed. Newegg has the best price I could find anywhere.

Cons: like the rest I would have liked a battery indicator. Newegg doesn't sell the cute cases that my Girlfriend wanted. Thank you newegg now I don't have a pink case. I LOVE YOU!!!

Pros: Good zoom and great picture, 6MP is more than is needed it most situations. It also has very clear video more so than I exspected at decent resolutions which is an added bonus. The 1GB card that comes with the deal is a great addition. Overall it is a great camera, screen is very large and all the features are great.

Cons: It can act strange sometimes when trying to take multiple shots very quickly, and other times it just focuses and takes the next shot with out any problem.
One Huge problem with this camera is that.... exactly 31 days after I bought the thing, I am sitting down looking at some of the video I have taken already on the screen, I switch it to "camera" mode and all it says is "Lens Error. Restart camera." Contacted Cannon there is nothing I can do to solve the problem could not view pictures on the Camera or even upload them to my computer, Cannon did say they would repair it has it has a 1yr warranty, but newegg is going to replace it for me. So for now I'm waiting for my new Camera to arrive.

Other Thoughts: Just waiting to have my Camera again. But I am going to get the exact same one (hoping it doesn't break in another month) But when I did have it I loved it, and everyone who I let see it wanted one...

Rating + 4 Great Camera Marred by Design Flaw

Pros: Takes great pictures. Excellent feature set for a small camera, big rear screen, video mode great, very small. This is my 5th Canon Digi-Cam and I love all of them. However, while this is a great camera it is marred by a big design flaw . . .

Cons: Bad battery cover design. Had the camera 2 weeks before breaking off the flimsy battery cover - and the camera will not operate without it being closed all the way. The bigger design flaw is that it has a hidden detent that causes the cover to catch when only partially open. To open the battery cover it must slide out towards the end all the way. But when you then go to lift it up it moves back a bit and catches on something, preventing it from opening more than 25 degrees. Thinking it is just a spring release the user pulls on it just a bit to get it open . . and snap - it breaks off at the pre-designed break point. Awful design. When having it repaired at the Canon Factory Express Service Center I pointed this out to them ,and they pretty much agreed, but just said that's how it was designed (What else could they say?) and that it was user error to break it off. Not true - awful design.

Other Thoughts: Canon should recall this camera and install a much stronger battery cover which doesn't have this hidden detent to cause it to break. Short of that they should ship each camera with about 6 extra battery covers with each camera to allow the owner to replace all those that will be broken off.

Rating + 5 Great bang for your $$. Super small

Pros: Very small, truly pocket sized, easy to use, cheap memory cards, great performance, large LCD screen

Cons: Flash could be more powerful, this somewhat limits the SD600's indoor capabilities. Not severely, but you definitely want to stay in somewhat close to subjects when in a semi-lit large room.

Other Thoughts: I'm a photography buff who owns several cameras and I usually keep a fair distance from tiny point and shoot type cameras. However, my wife asked for her own camera this Christmas and wanted one small enough she could slip it into her purse or pocket. She uses my Canon Rebel and smaller Olympus C-750 often but she really wanted a tiny camera for herself.

My research led me to either the Canon Elph or one of the small Sony's. My gripe with Sony is their over priced (ever changing) Memory Sticks. Being a fan of Canon anyway and realizing that I could buy a 1gb SC card for under half what I could buy a similar Memory Stick, I decided to go with the Elph.

Long story short, my wife loves the SD600 and hasn't put it down yet. I've tested it in a vast array of shooting conditions and it's performed surprisingly well in all tests. With it's ease of use it took my wife about 5 minutes to figure it out and she's been clicking away ever since.

Rating + 5 great all-around camera

Pros: 6MP for a camera that fits in your pocket, 3X's optical zoom, canon durability and reliability, price. Camera has a very solid feel to it, it has a large screen and takes only 2 sec to boot up from the time you press the power button until the time you can take your first shot.

Cons: The door that covers the USB plug is very flimsy but it will hold up as long as you don't purposely tear it off. Bought a cheap card reader because I thought it was easier to download my pics that way ~Not a major issue~

Other Thoughts: I am really glad I bought this camera, it fits almost anywhere and takes great pics. You will not regret buying this camera - I don't!

Pros: Got this as a gift for my wife. She loves the ease of use and the portability of the camera. Comes with battery charger. Has optical viewfinder as well as decent sized LCD. Great for "snapshot" purposes.

Cons: Does not use AA batteries, but that is what makes it more compact.

Other Thoughts: This camera is very simple to use right out of the box. It also has numerous features for the more advanced user.

Pros: great pictures, excelent video, wonderfully small and easy to carry around, large screen. I'm new to digi's but this one dose eveything i was looking for. I play footbag (hackysack) and 60fps is key for slow motion playback!

Cons: the battery/mem card cover seems pretty cheap but as long as i'm careful i think it'll last. Other than that: NOTHING. This camera rocks.

Other Thoughts: This product got here a day before the predicted delivery date! New Egg for the win!

Pros: I would not consider myself a professional photographer by any means, but I have used quite a few digi cams in the past, and this is the best one I have ever had the pleasure of using. Fair amount of manual settings, quick start up and hardly any time between pictures, VERY good battery life, huge screen, view finder (some of the new cameras don't have one), but the thing I was most impressed with was the flash. The range and brightness of the flash is simply unmatched compared to any camera I have used. It can light up and entire room, making indoor pictures look almost as good as those taken outdoors.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: If you take a lot of pictures inside (parties, hanging out with friends, whatever) then this is one of the best cameras in this price range. It is also very portable and sleek looking to boot.

Pros: This camera has a great screen and a very simple interface. The photos come out excellent and the video option is the best I've seen on a camera this small.

Cons: So small you could drop it and do some damage, so don't drop it from great heights!

Other Thoughts: Don't hesitate, this is a great package for the price. Canon cannot be beaten.

Rating + 5 Best cam for buck...

Pros: Amazing, sharp, and always focused images. Excellent video quality with full camcorder resolution and framerate. Low-light images are amazing, this camera can make a good picture in any situation. Amazingly large and bright LCD screen. Battery life is on par or better than advertised. Screen has been thus far scratch-proof when carried in jean-pockets for days on end. Excellent size by the way to carry in pants everywhere. Li-ion is a huge plus, this is the direction cameras are going... Made in Japan, not a cheap factory in China!

Cons: Small viewfinder, difficult to use for those of us with glasses. Flash settings are lost when camera is powered off (if you turn flash off to be courteous, and then power off and on, the flash will be turned on by default). Display settings lost when powered off (if you want to turn off LCD to save batt, it will be on by default when power is cycled).

Other Thoughts: Only had cam for almost two weeks, but it has been a dream, very inconspicuous design makes sneaking in photos fun and easy. The only thing that weights on my mind is that the camera requires a charger, it would be much better in my opinion to let camera be a charger also and just plug a power dongle into cam or have a cradle for it, like some other products have. Also, I read that most Li-ions have a two-year shelf life before the charge life begins to deteriorate rapidly, meaning I may need to get a new battery in two years, and that weighs on my mind.

Pros: Two words to discribe "NewEgg"...THE BEST!!! Very fast and easy to navigate website and the best prices of anyone. Shipped the same day it was ordered and arrived when promised. As far as the camera; compact size and large LCD screen. The option of using the view finder or the LCD screen. I'm a fan of the view finder(old school).Easy to use and understand different functions.

Cons: 16MB SD card that came with the camera only gave me 8 pictures on the setting I selected. NewEgg to the rescue!!! They packaged a 1GB card with the camera that was more than sufficient for my picture needs. I wish the case that was included was large enough to carry the battery charger, extra battery and extra SD card. It will hold everything except the battery charger. I had an old walkman case that will do for now.The included case was very nice if you just carry the camera, extra battery and SD card.

Rating + 4 Great Value

Pros: * - Photo quality
* - White balance features
* - Bright Display
* - Size
* - Macro photos have great image quality
* - Great build quality for price
* - manual override of ISO settings

Cons: * - Fragile LCD
* - typical PS low light performance.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded to this PS from an 2mp Canon A series. The quality of this camera is great at this price. While the LCD is fragile, the camera overall is very durable. 250 lb man stepped on it and only damage done was broken lcd. Which by the way, can be ordered from canon and installed yourself for about 25$ if I remember correctly.
If you are looking for a small PS that takes incredible pictures, this is it! The fact that there is still a viewfinder (630 doesn't have a vf) is a lifesaver when you get the low battery light and still want to snap a few shots.

Rating + 5 Excellent!

Pros: -Small
-Optical finder
-good resolution
-well saturated but not overstated colors
-adequate macro
-good resolution

Cons: -battery life, but that is to be expected i guess
-some softness in corners of the image
-flimsy battery cover and a/v connector cover

Other Thoughts: I bought this camera to replace my Canon S410. It is a fantastic camera! I was worried about a 6 megapixel sensor being squeezed behind such a small lens but the pictures are awesome. there is some softness in the corners of the image but not very noticeable unless you're looking for it. i own a canon dslr and a nikon 5700 but this is the camera i carry with me. The other two are both great cameras and i plan on keeping them. However, i really don't want to carry those around when i'm going out for a walk or to a party. image quality is great, saturated but not overstated colors. fast shooting speeds. adequate video quality and a useable optical finder. i just love this thing. i do not use any of the included software except for photo stitch which is a lot of fun. great price from new egg.
what more can i ask for?

Pros: This camera is a great camera. It has more than enough features for the casual photographer, and it comes bundled with a free 1 gb memory card, you just can't beat newegg! I'm not going to repeat what everyone else is saying, bottom line is if you don't want to spend a lot on a camera, this is your best bet. Other Thoughts: My sister did not have a Newegg account so she used mines. She ordered the camera with the combo deal on the 19th around midnight. The tripod, case, and SD card arrived by friday. Then I checked the tracking for the camera, and it was going to be delayed. But then Newegg and ups came through and delivered it on Saturday, just in time for Christmas. Awesome service by Newegg! Cons: None really.

Pros: Ridiculously compact. Ridiculously large screen on the back. Shoots amazing video.

Cons: Make sure you buy the Canon case, so you don't mash/scratch the ridiculously large display.

Other Thoughts: STRONGLY recommend buying the clear protective self-adhesive sheets used with Palm Pilot-type gadgets...install as soon as you unwrap the camera so you don't scratch the lens as I did with tin the first hour of ownership. Get a big chip and a spare battery and you will be ready for anything.

Pros: I have not used this camera, but gave it to my son (US Navy)as a present. I did open the case and this camera is very heavy for its size, which is halfway between a cigarette lighter and a pack of smokes.

Thank You NewEgg for the combo deal, with the memory card and camera case. I also purchased a spare battery. Delivery and communication were both excellent. You have a steady customer in me.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Everyone should have at least 1Gb of memory and one spare battery with each purchase.

Rating + 4 There's better

Pros: I bought both the sd600 and the sd800. Although the sd600 is a good camera, I gave it four stars because the sd800 is far superior. Digic III, image stabilization and wide angle lens are worth every penny - save up and get the sd800. You can take crisp, indoor, no-flash pics with the 800. The 600 relies on higher ISO and they don't compare.

Cons: They both have the same door issues, but, I'm not concerned. I was leary about the small size and my big clumsy hands - attaching the wrist strap made all the difference.

Other Thoughts: Both cameras are fast, shutter lag is a not issue. Get a 2 gig card - it'll give you more than 500 high-res shots or plenty of video. three-day ups shipping took six days. Newegg still rocks, though.

Rating + 4 Xmas Gift works Great!

Pros: This little gem works great right out of the box, (after charging the battery). Every picture we have tested mostly on auto has been great. My daughter will love this gift. Twice the features compared too another brand I bought a few days earlier.

Cons: My dog blinks when we took his picture.

Other Thoughts: I purchased two digital cameras in last 7 days the Canon SD60, and another brand starting with O. My 1st purchase was the FE190, I admit I didn't do much research or I wouldn't have made this mistake. After the camera arrived my son (very exp. digital camera user) and I tested the FE and was very disappointed with the pictures. I will say that after playing around with the camera a bit and a little reading we could get ok pics, but still disappointed. (I shipped the camera back to the vendor.) We agreed for $20 or $30 more we could get much better results from a different brand. Some reading and a special price I bought the Canon SD600. What a difference compared to the FE190.

Rating + 3 Canon SD600

Pros: Super small; the size of two old fashion Zippo lighters next to each other.

Cons: Almost too small. Takes a while to learn to operate the buttons efficiently. Feel like you might drop the camera by losing your grip; neck strap security helps out. Like all compacts, the flash is weak, and will work well up to a distance of about 15' max in a darker situations. First you get dark edges, and then exposure falls off fast as distance gets greater. Unlike a Canon-G series, etc. it has no hotshoe (for mounting a flash), so the enclosed flash is the only possibility.

Other Thoughts: If you have image files on a PC, and want to move them, a Flash drive would be much easier than using this Canon SD600 (many flash drvies available here at Newegg cheap). Using a digital camera to transport files is a tiny bit ridiculous. Why not just carry the whole PC with you. A digital camera should be used to take photos, and a flash drive, e-mail, CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD, etc. would be a much better plan for tranfering between PC's! It is best to leave your media card in your camera, and avoid messing with it needlessly. No broken camera SD doors, and no corrupt data, etc. Set up your tranfer software (with the camera), and make sure you're running at true USB2.0; everything will fly smooth as silk, and you will save time.

Rating + 3 Canon SD600 resolution

Pros: Is very small, and has a wealth of settings, albeit not a very good choice of resolutions. Apparently, all SD models suffer this design flaw. Apparently, viewing photos on the camera screen (for enjoyment) is appealing to some. I use mine to compose the shot; for which it is very good, and clear.

Cons: Make sure you spend at least ten minutes to learn a bit about your monitor resolution vs. the resolution of an image you wish to display on it. Asuming you do know how to operate any decent image view/editor, you will be able to best view images that are a 1:1 relationship with your monitor. They will display unaltered by the viewing software, and will give you the best possible result. If the SD600 can not match any screen resolution, or a slightly smaller size, as it CAN NOT, then you have a problem. Every image you view from this camera will need to be resized, or will need need manualy cropped to fit your screen. Period. (less the tiny 600x480 mode). If you want a camera that you can take pics, and then just view them at a later time on your PC, this may not be a good choice. I am very dissapointed that I bought mine.

Other Thoughts: Read all the reviews at Newegg, never be guided by only a few users who feel the need to share their wealth of knowledge. Also keep in mind, the day USB2.0 was established, was the last day you would ever need a card reader. Why remove media cards, when you can transfer (both ways) about 5x as fast via USB2.0? And,..the nicest Canon for the money is the Canon G series. Read a few reviews.

Rating + 5 SD600 Resolutions & Transfers

Pros: All CANON ELPH digital cameras have the same resolutions available. Viewing photos on any monitor, LCD or otherwise will display the resolution you choose in your Photo Viewing software. Viewing digital photos is not a function of the monitor. TRANSFERING photos BACK to the ELPH line does require you to read the memory card directly either thru a Card Reader or card slot in your computer/printer. You CAN move photos to the memory card from your computer and take the card with you to display either on your camera's LCD or on another computer(provided you have a card reader). This is not the Kodak junk you may be used to but a REAL digital camera

Rating + 3 Not good on the PC monitor

Pros: This is a very good ultra compact camera. It has a rechargeable battery pack (you don't want to be buying batteries for a camera). Like all Canon digital cameras, the image quality is excellent. It has a large list of features, and becomes familiar quickly. It boots up and is ready to go in one second, no exaggeration. Very fast on the draw. The images also save quickly, even on larger resolutions using the flash. This camera has all the settings from full Auto to fully adjustable manual. It is smaller than it looks. It has a very fast zoom, possibly a bit too fast; usually forcing a back-and-forth routine when you use it.

Cons: The Battery pack must be removed for charging. This is poor, and should have been a jack/plug arrangement as is the case with the better models. The big problem: the resolution settings go from a tiny 640x480 to 1600x1200 with NONE inbetween! I, and most people, have monitors running at 1280x1024 or 1024x768; this leaves images taken with the SD600 pretty useless for viewing on these screens. The camera should have a 768 or 1024 horiz resolution, and not jump from tiny to huge sizes (only useful for printing very large prints). If you look at these images resized on an LCD, they look like they are made of Legos blocks. It has one tiny resolution, and then 3 HUGE useless resolutions. I am totally shocked by this. For best results, people should set their cameras to match their monitor resolution, or the next smaller size, and then always use the 'Fine" setting for compression. Your prints will be spectacular, and your images will also be crystal clear on your PC or Mac monitor.

Other Thoughts: I have a Canon Power Shoot G2 which is awesome. I know the Canons rule as far as image quality, but I was totally shocked, and disapointed at the lack of any proper usable resolution on this SD600, for people that do more PC viewing of photos rather than printing of posters (again, the 1024 or 768 prints produce very detailed 8x10" prints when they are taken on 'Fine', there isn't much need for these 2816x2112, 2272x1704 etc. resolutions that I have ever found). Wish this Canon camera had a 1280x1024 or 1024x768 mode; that would give it 5 eggs.

Rating + 4 Great But only 1 way transfers

Pros: Great image quality for pictures for such a tiny camera. Nice video quality to! I love the email attachment setting so you don’t have to worry about video clips to large for email. Of course vid quality and resolution size take a hit on this setting. & WOW Lots of documentation! All this paper weighs more then the cam. Separate English AND Spanish manuals.

Cons: Maybe I’m asking to much? But I though most cams would allow you to transfer files back & to the camera. That’s why I got a 1 GIG SD memory card. This Camera doesn’t ,only one way off! From camera into your PC. I’m not sure if all cannons are like this? I called Tech support at cannon & they told me I would need a card reader in order to send files to my SD memory card. Would have been nice to take pictures with me on my cam instead of on CD.

Other Thoughts: Not being able to send data to the camera means if I want to show relatives older pictures & videos I have to do it on a computer screen, if there is one. However if I could send images to the cam I could show them images on a TV with the audio video cable.

Cons: Easily scratched, buy a case, flimsy battery/sd card door, not a big problem, but keep that in mind. Fingerprints leave blotches of dirt on the camera. BUY A CASE, this camera will easily get scratched in your pocket without any protective covering.

Other Thoughts: I got way more than what i payed for, newegg has unequaled service.

Rating + 5 Is that a Canon in your pocket?

Pros: I bought the Canon Elph series camera mainly because of it's nice size-to-quality ratio. I can easily whip it out and take some decent pictures and then throw it back in my pocket. I don't have to worry about carrying around a bulky camera in a pouch slung around my neck. Comparing the SD600 to a higher powered camera like the SLR series, what it lacks in megapixels and photo quality, it makes up for in being convenient and realiable.

Cons: I now realize that I have some rough jean pockets because I've already slightly scratched the LCD screen. Now I make sure that I clean out my dirty linty pockets before shoving my nice camera into them. Regardless, I still refuse to carry a case for this thing. It defeats the purpose of buying a tiny camera.

Other Thoughts: There are a lot of different Canon SD series cameras. I bought the SD600 because newegg had a deal on it. I think the LCD screen is decently sized and wouldn't want to pay more for a larger one like the SD630.

Rating + 5 GREAT CAMERA

Pros: Easy to use, easy to understand. Was debating whether to buy the 700IS, glad I didn't and saved myself about a hundred dollars!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: With a 2 gig SD card, you can hold about 750 pictures on max quality, AWESOME!

Rating + 4 Very Good!!

Pros: Very small and compact. Lots of cool features like the Color Accent, and the 60 FPS video capturing. Boot time is quick. You can take a picture in less than 3 seconds from when you hit the power on button.

Cons: The corners and edges of each photo get very dark. And watch out when shooting architecture; the image gets warped and it looks like you have leaning buildings.

Other Thoughts: Being an art and design student, I might have to shell out and buy a Digital SLR to get the quality that i want. Just so i can avoid tweaking every picture to get rid of the dark corners and leaning buildings (see cons). Otherwise, it's a perfect camera. The detail of the image quality is amazing. And I like the Picture Stitching.

Rating + 5 Great Pics & Price for a Perfect High Quality Camera

Pros: I love this camera. I bought it when it was a little more expensive but still worth the money. Takes GREAT pictures and is durable. I have dropped it different times and never breaks on me.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Canon Customer Service is great as well. I got sand in the lense at the beach and sent it back. They returned to me fixed no charge. And were very fast and nice about it.

Rating + 5 Great deal

Pros: Great price for a tiny camera with lots of features. It takes great pictures. Memus are easy to navigate. Sturdy camera body.

Cons: No IS. I had a SD500 before and it was easier to hold still. It is no longer with us as my daughter dropped it on a marble step. This is a tiny camera. IS would help. However the SD700 and 800 feel flimsy to me by comparison and are a substantial jump in price.

Other Thoughts: You need to have an extra battery. An extra battery fits well into the belt loop holder in the optional camera case.

Rating + 5 Worth Every Penny

Pros: Crisp and clean pictures. The Auto ISO makes it hard to screw up a shot. The menus are easier to navigate and understand compared to other cameras I've owned. The quality of the videos it took were suprisingly impressive. The email video capability was a nice touch as well. The microphone records sound better than my expectations. All around great camera.

Cons: Camera sometimes has a hard time focusing when zoomed in all the way. The screen is huge but leaves fingerprints very easily. These things are to be expected though.

Other Thoughts: Great Camera! The extras on this cam are fun to play with and easy to use. The 16M card that came with it must have been put in the packaging as a joke.

Rating + 5 Awesome camera!

Pros: easy to use (once you have read the instruction manual)!

big LCD screen!

battery life is great!

ultra small to carry to in your pocket.

fast shutter speed in between takes.

picture quality is awesome!

you can customize it to how you want you camera to be set up. has many scene modes (night, fireworks, etc).

does practically everything that i need for it to do since all i do is take pictures!

Don't really use video that much, but after testing it out, the video quality is great!

Cons: i don't think there is an option to crop/trim the images (if there is, maybe i missed it in the instruction manual). i had a kodak and samsung before purchasing this, and both of them provided the option to crop/ trim images. the only way to crop/ trim images on the canon sd600 is only if you use photoshop once you have uploaded it to your computer.

there are too many steps to go through if you want to take a picture with a certain setting. but after playing with it for a while, you'll get the understanding of the camera's setup.

it doesn't come with a carrying case- but you can purchase any case for about $2-4 (walmart, target) and that should be sufficient enough.

no battery meter.

Other Thoughts: i got this camera at very great price from newegg- it came w/ a free 2GB card!

compared to other brands (sony, nikon, samsung), it's well worth the money- i'm very happy w/ my purchase!

Definitely but this camera- especially from Newegg.com!
