Built like a TANK!
Pros: - Great picture quality - Image stabilization works great in low-light - VERY good video quality
Cons: - Limited manual controls
Other Thoughts: Here's a story for you. Someone dropped my SD700 from five feet onto a metal floor while the lens was fully extended. The camera landed on the lens, bouncing once. When I picked it up, one of the lens components was crooked. However, I simply "snapped" it back in place with my fingers, and it has been working flawlessly ever since (months later).
Some users have commented that the exterior of the camera is prone to scratching, etc. If your primary goal is to keep your camera looking like a polished sports car, then perhaps this would be an issue for you. However what matters to me is the durability of the important stuff. I keep this camera in my pocket with no case, so I can quickly snap pictures every chance I get. It's never let me down!
Always be sure to carry a spare battery (you can find generics on e*bay which work just as well as the expensive canon ones).

FANTASTIC!
Pros: This camera is ready to shoot within a sec or two from start up. The image stabilization has been a blessing as well. It has assured shots I wouldn't otherwise have gotten.
Cons: Slightly wider angle lens would be nice, but you can't have it all. With everything there is compromise.
Other Thoughts: Don't waste your time with anything else. 6mp's is enough for the typical picture taking this camera would be used for.

So Easy, Even I Can Take Awesome Pics!
Pros: Takes great pictures in the automatic mode, so you really can just point and shoot, Long lasting battery, The screen adjusts to show the picture upright no matter which way you hold it (neato!), Small, Takes good video, Scene modes are cool (especially color accent), Start up is super quick, and the pictures snap quickly so you don't lose the moment (good for kids and pets).
Cons: Color swap only works okay, Good night pictures require a lot of messing with the manual settings (not so easy for the beginner) and then they still have a little graininess
Other Thoughts: Still overall super camera. I have taken some pictures that I would swear a professional took if I didn't remember taking them. That has never happened to me before this camera. I seriously can't believe how awesome some of my pictures have come out, and I am a complete photography beginner. I bought this camera for a trip to Europe, thinking it would be better to have great pictures I took than buy a bunch of souveniers over there. I am SO glad I did. Newegg makes it easy too - good price, quick shipping. YAY! I even came back with some pictures that would look beautiful as post cards or posters! I have taken pictures of my pets with this camera that look almost like "Glamour Shots" cause they came out so great! I love it!

GREAT CAMERA
Pros: This is a GREAT camera and I am so please with the deal I received from Newegg. My favorite feature is the color accent where it pulls out one color of your choosing in the picture and then makes everything else black and white.
Cons: Nothing major so far.

My best camera ever
Pros: Simple, sharp pictures. Amazing videos with image stabilization
Cons: Has a low battery warning indicator but does not have a battery gauge. I am never sure when I have to charge it.
Other Thoughts: With a 2 GB sd ram card you can take about 30 minutes of very high quality videos.
I took it on a trip to Hong Kong and China. It is cheaper to buy it from newegg than it would have been to buy it at the discount stores in Hong Kong.

Initial Thought
Pros: I have only had the camera for one week, but i have taken hundreds of pictures testing it out. IS: Is amazing, you had to shake radically in order to get any blur at all. Great for small cameras. Also, the shipping, i have ordered hundreds of things, hands down fastest shipping ever from newegg. 1 day. Camera starts very quickly, is easy to hold, and takes/saves shots very quickly. This is a great camera for someone wanting to take it with them when they go visit places. Easily fits in a pocket, just slightly bigger then a cell phone.
Cons: The optical finder is kind of in a weird position, you gotta like push your nose on the screen to use it. Also, the manual options are not very deep. Granted, this is great functionality for what 90% of users use it for. I bought this for the wife, I'm spoiled by my G6.

Great Compact Point And Shoot Digital Camera
Pros: I have taken over 250 pictures already and they are very sharp. I use this camera for a photography course I am taking at present and plan on buying a DSLR camera shortly from newegg. The instructor is very pleased with my photos and I use the manual control settings and have had no problems so far. I would highly recommend this camera for anyone who wants a compact point and shoot camera which takes very sharp pictures and the price is right from newegg.
Cons: The flash is a little weak and the camera body scratches if you are not careful.

A great compact camera
Pros: I bought this for my wife as a simple point and shoot with Image Stabilization (IS). The IS really helps in long zoom shots and/or low light conditions. It's a true optical stabilization unlike the high ISO (lots of noise) or digital attempts by F**i or C***o. Easy to use even for the new to digital camera neophyte.
Cons: None

Great Camera
Pros: Very good point and shoot camera. Features are nice and I could not be happier with the performance. Pictures are great!
Cons: Make sure you get a soft case for it, as it seems to be pretty delicate.

Pros: Shoots very sharp, clean pictures and I love the 4X optical zoom. Most of these small pocket size cameras are only 3X. The battery seems to outlast my longest shooting episodes so far so I'm very satisfied. I did buy a couple of backup LiOn batteries very cheap and have been pleastanly surprised at how much better they are than I expected for a $5 battery.
Cons: Only wish that there was some indicator of battery status because sometimes it is a long spell between use and it would be nice to see right away whether or not you need a fresh battery.
Other Thoughts: NewEgg was the price and quality service source when I bought and as usual, the deals just keep getting better. As long as they keep up the good customer service and maybe get FedEx back for shipping, I don't see why I would ever order anywhere else.

Pros: Great little camera. I purchased it primarily to use underwater. This camera is 6.0 mp, my sony is 7.2. I can't tell the difference when I zoom in using photoshop. THe memory cards are cheaper than the sony ones. I can't tell the difference in quality when I zoom in using photoshop. This camera has an underwater setting which is great.
Most of the pics I've taken have been with the camera in the underwater housing. They have been great. The flash adjusts to the situation and doesn't overfill like my sony. THis may be due to the flash diffuser on the underwater housing but the picture quality is GREAT.
Cons: LCD is fine but a bigger, clearer one might be nice.

1st Rate Pictures
Pros: Out of a hundred pictures this camera delivers more crisp, well colored and exposed images than any digital camera I've ever had. (This is my fourth) Its focus system is excellent and the IS gives you the equivalent of an extra stop or two in low light, so you get a real usable ASA of 800 which means higher shutter speeds and steadier photography. The 30 fps 640x480 video is enough fun so that I would recommend at least a 1 gig sd card, even larger if possible.
Cons: There's a blue glowing pixel in the viewfinder...darn. It appeared the first week I had the camera. It doesnt effect the pictures and I can only see it on dark backgrounds; its minor but who needs it. Also you can't optical zoom in movie mode...considering the movie clips are so good this is kinda lame. For some reason though you can digital zoom but the results are poor... digital zooms just don't cut it.
Other Thoughts: Aside from the two minor blips above I really like this camera and recommend it highly. It easily fits into my pocket and starts up in an instant. I find myself taking many more usable pictures than I ever had before. So if the bottom line is lots of first rate pictures, this machine is a truly amazing performer.

Best I Have Ever Owned
Pros: Camera takes very nice pictures. I have owned five or six in life and this is the best. Very Forgiving. For the screen go to clarivue web site and get a non adhesive cover. Have not had a problem with camera or cover. Read that coating might rub off the screen so I did not use it till I got the cover. Great battery life. Canon quality.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I bought a spare 1 gig card and a spare generic battery. I love it.

Great Camera!
Pros: I've recently purchased this camera and thus far I am extremely pleased with it. The picture quality is amazing and there are so many great little features that really make me appreciate this camera. I'm very pleased with this camera.
Cons: It is a bit expensive, but you really do get what you paid for. I hope not to experience the scratching that some of the users have reported.

Love the Camera - once NewEgg figured out how to process my CC
Pros: Great zoom, perfect for pockets, large LCD with good preview quality and lighting, and the resulting images have been very crisp and clear. Before the sale I was concerned about a lack of manual options, but have learned that concern was unfounded.
Cons: Very minor con... LCD preview screen VERY easily smudges. This is great for crime scene investigations, but I'm getting tired of seeing my fingerprints all over the thing. I'd definitely suggest a clear plastic sticky screen protector thing.
Other Thoughts: I almost bought an Elph years ago but read a lot of complaints about image distortion (especially at the edges and corners). In that same frame of time I talked to a lot of very happy Elph owners and saw their pictures. I wanted to replace my Canon A70 with something even smaller and am VERY happy I chose this camera. It's large enough to hold without shaking, and fits in any of my pockets. :)

Gret Camera for Geocahing Trips
Pros: I did a reasonable amount of research looking for a pocket sized camera to take on Geocaching trips and selected this camera above even it's newer variants due to the glowing reports given to it by discriminating places like dpreview. We now have two of these (we bought both from Newegg). It is tiny enough to take everywhere and the pictures are just amazing. We bought the Canon Accessory Kit for it can highly recomend it as well.
Cons: The down side is quite minor. It will only accept SD cards up to 2GB in size. This is hardly a concern since the cards are so inexpensive plus 2GB will hold a LOT of pictures!

Be careful
Pros: small, lightweight, takes great photos, big screen. Easy to use controls. 4X zoom.
Cons: Its a bit bigger than the SD 450, etc. And can tend to tip over if placed on a table because of how far the lens comes out of the camera...I recommend getting a small tripod for that. IS isnt going to prevent blurry photos in low light, but much better than my previous camera. see other thoughts.
Other Thoughts: I bought this camera in November thru newegg and got a free PQI 1GB memory card with it which recently died on me. I ended up losing all the photos/videos on the card. Check out the reviews of the card, seems to have happened to a lot of people. If you have a PQI card, I'd stop using it ASAP. Also, I recently started having a problem with the battery pack on this camera. I can put in a fully charged battery and after turning it on and off a few times, it will say the battery is dead. If I open the battery case and push on the battery, it will work again, until i shut it off. I'm sending the camera off to Canon to get fixed.

Wait for the SD750
Pros: Great camera, but... I recommend SD750!
Cons: I agree with other reviewer, and don't replicate same things...
Other Thoughts: CANON has received all the feedbacks and decided to make an upgrade model which is SD750, comes with extra features, like scratch-resistant bigger and body, getting rid of never-used optical viewfinder, bigger screen, etc.

You won't be dissappointed
Pros: Great camera for lowlight and most snap it applications. The IS makes for really great pictures in situations where my Powershot 300 takes dark blurry picture.
Cons: Size, I thought this is the same size as a Powershot 400 when I was looking at it on the web but actually it is a good bit bigger. Still highly portable tho.
Other Thoughts: I havent figured out how to hold the shutter open for things like starlight nights or a nice moon shot, but I am sure it is in the options somewhere.

Good Low Light Pics
Pros: Very good low-light capability. The ability to take pics without flash, along with the small size, ease of use, good quality, fast focusing, and consistently correct exposure make this model a winner.
Cons: Serious photographers will be unhappy with limited manual settings.
Other Thoughts: Bought this for my wife, who uses it constantly. This is her third digital camera. Primary use is to take baby snapshots and short videos, but she keeps it with her on trips and even when she goes out with her friends... never know when you might have a photo opportunity.

Great Camera
Pros: Picture quality is superb, best zoom I could find in such a compact camera, Battery life is excelent
Cons: Agree with previous reviews, Silver coating on camera scratches WAY too easily, Just make sure you keep in it a snug case.
Other Thoughts: I previously owned the S100, loved how portable it is and the image quality was excelent, The SD700IS doesn't dissapoint either.

Pretty Cool
Pros: IS Sure is slick. Compact, has some substance to it. From the time you hit power it's no more than a "one one thousand" and your're ready to shoot. Modest size screen is easy to see. Has the "advanced" features for those that want to play but throw it on auto and your mom is good to go. Girlfriend has the 630 and I noticed a good deal of improvement in picture quality.
Cons: This bugger does a fair amount of processing in low light to make sure you get a good shot, unfortunately that takes time. It's also a surprise when the battery is going to die, it alerts you just in time to shrug, snap your last photo, and turn it off.
Other Thoughts: The price has plumetted on this camera but it still has the features to keep all but the technofile or the advanced camera folks happy.

Pros: This is a sweet little camera. It has a very large lcd display to see your pictures and it also takes very nice pictures. I really like the video ability of this camera, but I wish it was easier to take different quality levels of video. From what I understand you can take two different video qualities with this thing, 15fps and 30fps. I haven't figured out how to select between the two. So that's a con. But the video that I did take was excellent at 30fps. It just took up an enormous amount of space(expected). It ate up around 340MBs of space for a 6 minute video(Birthday party). I also like the fact that when you turn the camera sideways it turns the picture sideways while viewing it, you may have to see it to understand what I'm saying. It basically has a sensor that tells the camera what side is up. So if you turn your camera sideways to take a tall picture it automatically saves it that way instead of having to turn the picture with any software on the computer.
Cons: Just as others have noted before the small round button on the back is somewhat difficult to toggle back and forth to make your menu selections, just don't expect to be taking pictures with gloves and expect that you can navigate the menus with anything other than your finger tips. I have rather fat fingers and I don't seem to have too much difficulty navigating the menus with the toggle button. I do have to be careful and I can't navigate the menus without looking at the toggle button. It's just as I said in my pro section above, this is a sweet little camera, and by little I mean LITTLE. I was amazed at how small it was and the quality of pictures that it still takes. Be careful with it, because it is so tiny, but that can also be a pro, it's VERY portable and fits in a shirt pocket very nicely. I haven't noticed any scratches on the exterior body like some of the other posts, but I've only owned it for 2 months now. We'll see how it stands up to more abuse.
Other Thoughts: I would make the toggle button easier to maneuver without having to look at it while you navigate the menus. It's like a typist that types with two index fingers and has to stare at the keyboard the whole time to type anything. That's just what it feels like.

Pros: Great camera! Awesome size! Huge screen dislplay! This camera also has the viewfinder which other models don't!!!
Cons: None yet!
Other Thoughts: I had an Olympus before...I will NEVER go back! Canon all the way!!! Great size! Fits easily in your pocket. Close to the size of a rAzr by Motorola.

Small size, HUGE LCD, great camera
Pros: Great pic quality, small size, HUGE LCD, super FAST operation. Fits in your pockets! The 'IS' stabilizer works great, no blury pics.
Cons: Durability is somewhat an issue. As other reviewers commentes, the door/flap for the A/V connections is very flimsy. I've owned it for about 3 months now, and there are numerous scratches on the body, and a few on the LCD. It is purley an asthetic issue, and does not affect the operation of the camera, but is annoying.
Other Thoughts: Overall, an awesome camera. This was an upgrade purchase from an Olympus C-4000....What an upgrade! from the moment you hit the power button, you can take a pic within 2 seconds! Great pic quality. I can store 1500 pics on a 2GB card at 5MP resolution. The jog dial is a bit annoying since it doesn't "click" into place, and so is the scrathing issue. But, if I had to buy again, I would grab this camera in a heartbeat!

Bought another one!
Pros: Bought the second camera for my dad. This time with the camera bag bundle. See my previous review for details.
Cons: None for me.
Other Thoughts: It took longer for the package to come. I ordered it on Tue night and it came on Mon. Unusual for NewEgg shipping. When I ordered the 1st camera a week before, also on Tue night, it came on Fri. Not really disappointed, just surprised, I guess.

Near-ideal price / performance / feature ratio
Pros: 1. Pictures that this camera takes are very natural looking. There are different color vibrance settings to bring out blues, reds, etc. There are 10-15 scene modes, over the standard 4 or 5. The pics are probably better than those of my G3 (difference is G series always have better lenses). An ultra compact Sony 7.1 that I used at work had horrible color washout. 2. Initial battery life testing has proved to be stellar. I took over 500 pictures w/ flash and LCD on, (the manual claims only 240 can be taken) and I still haven't had to recharge it. However, it states to charge it up to 24 hours in advance prior to your known use. 3. Image stabilization really works great. (this is the main feature over the SD630 and SD600.) Canon IS is a high end (big camera size) feature starting to turn up on smaller cameras. To compare to that Sony 7.1 mp, it had terrible camera shake. 3. Ultra fast power up and shooting. 4X optic zoom, camera is tiny!
Cons: Battery door already creaks....kinda irks me since I haven't even taken the camera out yet, but all the other features outweigh this hindrance. No battery life indicator, only a low-battery indicator. Thats really it.
Other Thoughts: I paid 3 x hundred for the camera (free shipping) and received a 2Gb Corsair 60x sd card, which holds 700 hi-res pics. I think I got a really good deal on a fantastic camera.
My opinion is that this camera has the best performance and features for the money. Above this model, you are paying for the "high-endedness".
Canon has amazed me again.

I want another one!
Pros: Too many to list: - image stabilization, - optic viewfinder (useful under direct sun or to save battery life), - great picture quality (including night shots), - small size (smaller than I thought - even shorter than my Siemens S66 mobile phone), - rechargeable battery (charging time under 1 hour 30 min.), - fast startup (about 3 seconds from power on to saved picture), - good macro mode, decent video quality with sound (as for digital camera), - big screen, custom self-timer (can take up to 10 pictures at a time with 1 second pause), - Russian language (and many other languages), - charger with 120-240V input (useful when traveling to other countries), - intuitive interface (no need to read user manual).
Cons: no alarm clock :-)
none for me
Other Thoughts: I had researched a lot of digital cameras lately - read different reviews, compared picture quality and different options to price. This digital camera IS THE ONE to get. Bought it for a great price with 1GB Kingston memory card combo (after Thanksgiving sale). Would buy two more: one for my friend and one for my dad if the price dropped again. (The price went up in the last couple of days.) If you are looking for a quality digital camera just get this one!

Great Camera
Pros: Image stabilization will double the number of usable photos you take. Solid construction. Easy to access settings. View finder. Useful and easy to set picture modes. I am so impressed with the video quality, I am going to spring for a 4GB SD card.
I got a 1GB SD card bundled from Newegg, and fast, free shipping.
Cons: Never liked Canon's rubbery hinges for the I/O bay, but haven't broken on my old G2 yet, so they do work. Otherwise, not one.
Other Thoughts: My current digital is a Canon G2. Was a good camera in its day, but very poor in low light and preset modes are not very useful. My wife says she wants a camera that take a picture when you push the shutter button (G2 has a lot of lag), and wants better indoor pictures without having to go with ugly flash all the time.
I won't pay the $$$ for the SD800 or SD900, and wanted image stabilization, so this is THE (reasonably priced) ultra-compact camera to deal with low light. (I looked at the Fujifilm F30 very seriously. It is perhaps the BEST low-light ultra-compact you can get. However, the trade-off is overexposure problems outdoors; and, it has no optical viewfinder.)
The case materials seem about the same as my G2 -- stainless steel. The SD700 has a black plastic bezel around the LCD screen. I am not worried about scratches on he case or bezel, but will get a vinal LCD screen protector. Also, for those who ARE worried about scratches, buy a silicone camera cover.

Best Pocket Camera
Pros: Picture quality and build quality are outstanding. I like it much better than the SD800 for telephoto capability and picture quality. Image Stabilization is great and is now a required feature on all digital cameras.
Cons: None

Canon SD700 is great camera for fun picture taking and showing
Pros: Quick learn. Great features. Great metal case. Canon software is wonderful. Stitch for Panoramic is great fun and easy. Wonderful videos.
Cons: None by me noted
Other Thoughts: Bought this camera after much debate and looking at the competition.Fits in pocket or in a belt case (bought a Nikon leather one). Off we went on a two week trip after four days of messing around and are so happy with it and how easy stitching our Panoramic together, setting up all kinds of picture compositions easy and difficult. Get an extra battery and a fast 2 GB card and well... have fun. Putting a slide show on the TV for friends when we got home... plug the camera in to the TV and let the camera do the work. Better than old print and pass.
Get one. You will love it and enjoy. There are lots of reviews to look for and read. But buy one stick it in a breast shirt pocket button it up and go.

Good Stuff
Pros: Small, fast, attractive, IS is great, menus are easy, has view finder for shooting on sunny days when you can't see the LCD.
Cons: the dial selector is a bit too small and it's hard to tell what position its in (of course you can tell by looking at the screen)
Other Thoughts: Canon makes great little point and shooters, however their DSLR's aren't as good as Nik*n.

THIS IS THE CAMERA YOU SHOULD GET
Pros: Everything about this camera is high quality - build, interface and images. Three of our friends have bought this since seeing ours. I am a professional photographer and it's refreshing to have such a tiny camera to take around when I don't want to carry my big cameras. The noise level on higher ISO settings is the best that I've seen for such a small chip. The lens is tack-sharp and the Image Stabilization really does work (to a point, nothing can make an image sharp if the exposure time is too long.) I have not found the screen and camera to be as fragile as other people complain about - this camera has been used by me and my wife HEAVILY for almost 4 months and the screen and camera are still new looking. Perhaps people should get a better case? I recommend the Lowepro D-Pod case, a soft, neoprene, padded case that fits like a glove. Don't be roped into "other" brands with things like Leica or Zeiss lenses - the lens is only one aspect of the camera.
Cons: I wish the camera had more manual setting options. Earlier versions of the ELPH cameras did have manual and I'm not sure why Canon removed that. By setting the film speed and using the exposure compensation you can still control your exposures though.
Other Thoughts: When I was shooting film I had all Nikon equipment (F3, FM2 etc.) but since switching to digital I am all Canon. I've had a 10D, G2, several earlier ELPH cameras and currently have this camera and a 5D (and an Optura DV camera.) I think Canon is really the best option for digital cameras in both the professional DSLR market as well as the point and shoot market.

Great camera
Pros: Leaves others to dust, I've had the Leica C-LUX 1 and it won't hold a candle with this model,my brother bought the SD800IS but in comparisson the only thing good with SD800IS is wide and a new unproven processor just a tad of little more option but not justified for another $xxx to $xxx more. Price is perfect with NewEgg!!!
Cons: Noisy at ISO800 but who cares it's a little beast.
Other Thoughts: I bought this over the new SD800IS, since it really serves it purpose for my needs and the price is unbeatable even with combos.

Great Camera
Pros: "IS" is very helpful in low light situation! Fast start time! Great Value!
Cons: Too much noise when ISO 800
Other Thoughts: It's a great traveling camera. Sometimes I carry this instead of my DSLR 30D!

Excellent!!
Pros: Awesome macros, capable of taking great shots at night, sleek, pocketable, I keep it with me 24 hrs :)
Cons: No shutter and aperture priority.. but that does not matter much.
Other Thoughts: I would buy S3 IS if size of the camera did not matter to me.

wow, buy this now!!!
Pros: i am a professional photographer. i bought this for vacation cuz i am tired of carrying around my d-slr. i have to say i am very impressed with little point and shooter. The IS lens works like a charm. I've shoot NYC at night with no flash at all. Image comes out sharp even at 1/5th of a second shutter time. Color is very accurate even in low lighting. but flash to slow-sync and your get a nice clear portraiture and nice background.
Cons: NONE so far. i hope the next generation of this has a bigger screen. Hopefully 10meg+ would be nice.
Other Thoughts: grab this now. this is a nice grab if you don't intend to have a lot of 8x10 enlargement. 4x6 is fine.

Very solid choice, like the Camry of Cameras
Pros: Fast startup from off to take pictures. Decently fast inbetween pictures. User friendly from the button layout to the menu navigation. There's about 20 selectable languages, so you don't have to worry about relatives not knowing how to use your camera. VERY portable, and w/ a 2GB card should satisfy a vacation trip. Battery life was good; it can last 2.5 days of on and off pictures using only the LCD (not the viewfinder). The LCD is also easily usable in bright sunlight. This camera responded to user demand like a snap.
Cons: There's only a few annoying quirks: 1- Not sure if it takes a 4GB card, since I don't have one to try. Called Canon Support about this, and the guy gave me a quick unconvincing "No it doesn't. Is there anything else I can help you with?" 2- Camera takes pictures w/ noise really easily. Avoid the High ISO setting. Once it's less than cloudy lighting, noise shows up really easily. Avoid Auto mode in this case. 3- Didn't like the face-finding autofocus and average metering because I use the spot setting and AF lock. Annoying part was that when you turn the camera off and on you have to change that setting again in Manual mode. 4- The on/off button is harder to push than you think. I often thought I turned on the camera and find myself waiting and turning it on again. This may have been designed purposely so it doesn't turn on in your pocket.
Other Thoughts: I've based comments from combination of factors- usage versus a Fuji 6800zoom, versus an Olympus film point-n-shoot, and just regular usage of "I need to take a picture NOW!" Took this baby though a trip in China and it's quite the gem. Fits in your pants pocket fine. Response time overall was very good. Really easy to use. Great battery life. A few things to nit-pick in the Cons section, but don't think badly of this. Overall very satisfied. Definitely a recommended camera.

Great CAm
Pros: Nice pics, the IS works great, When taking video, looks like its in a tripod. Pictures are clear.. VERY fast, great features like Stitching/grid/turn off the replay of last pic, etc.. 4gig will do about 35 min video(high quality) tells you how long u can record for befor you start.
I was gonna get eather this or the waterproof olympus(720) but after playing with each for an hour at the store.. I got this(from newegg ofcourse)
Cons: No battery meater, Got another battery tho. other then that, none...
Other Thoughts: No problems with my black wearing off.. 4gb card WILL work. (3.8) i got the Transend 150x ultra part:N82E16820163159
Fits PERFECTLY in Lowepro 15 case, which then fits perfect in the Edit100 w/ cam accessories

Cons: None with the exception that the screen scratches very easily. Get a protector.

Awesome compact Canon!!!
Pros: Small, very fast, with so many options, excellent upgrade from my old Powershot A60. Newegg rocks as always, delivered as expected.
Cons: Little heavy, but it's not a problem. Must be careful with LCD screen - it scratches easily and likes fingerprints so much. Case recommended!
Other Thoughts: I purchased 4GB A-Data SD Card from Newegg as well - formatted to 3.8GB without any issues. With this card shooting and movie recording are simply unlimited. Important - do not put your fingers onto microphone while recording movies - sound quality is way much better!

Awesome Camera
Pros: From the first shot I took, this camera has yet to fail me. Very fast power up is very useful for getting every shot you want. Also, the video quality is very impressive for a digital camera. Clear shots, gorgeous screen, very vibrant colors.
I'd reccommend using the manual settings rather than the automatic ones, it allows you to really take some beautiful pics. Also the "color filter" is REALLY cool, lets you take shots where only one color is allowed. For example: if you set the color to red and took a pic of a dozen roses, everything but the petals comes out black & white, and the petals are still gorgeous red. Maybe thats old hat, but I found it very impressive.
Cons: Havent experienced any scratches yet, but i'm going to get one of those PDA screen covers and cut it to size just in case.
Other Thoughts: Beautiful

High Quality but delicate
Pros: Very good quality pics while using lower ISOs, high settings get grainy. Video looks very good and the IS helps for making stable shots while not using tripod (although you still need to be careful especially in low light). Optional underwater case is very cool, I have taken it scuba diving, and it has great picture and video quality (even using a flashlight!) even in the murky waters of Seattle with no external flash.
Cons: The black coating on the review screen will EASILY scratch and eventually completely rub off. I used it for 2 weeks on a trip carring in a case and the pocket of my soft travel pants and the coating is almost gone except for the edges. The silver on the camera is also beginning to scuff and I have never dropped it or dragged it across anything. Once the low battery light comes on you have VERY little time left, and you don't know it's getting low until... Just keep 'er charged or it can leave you w/o pics (lithium can be charged anytime w/o negative effects)
Other Thoughts: If you buy this camera you won't be sorry --- !!!!!!Just buy a clear vinyl sticker to cover the display screen!!!!!!

Pros: compact size, good optical zoom
Cons: I agree with the guy above , this camera is a little expensive. I mean it is a great camera, I am just not sure if it is worth $400.
Other Thoughts: Love the camera, I have always used cannon equipment and I was always impressed with their quality and this camera does not disappoint. I love to shoot in macro and this camera has a great macro setting! I really didn't expect all these features in a compact camera.I Recommend this camera if you just can't wait(like me) for the price to go down. As usual New Egg rocks had it to me in 3 days!

Powerful little gem of a camera
Pros: Extremely quick start up, you won't miss a shot. With picture review mode set to "0 sec" shot to shot lag time is approx 1.3 sec w/flash in use(flash recycle time very fast). When not using flash successive shots can be taken nearly instantaneously. One of my main requirements aside from pict. quality was how fast the camera could repeatedly take pictures, and the SD700IS performs admirably here. Intuitive menus are simple to navigate. Picture quality is superb(which is the main function of camera of course). I passed up many other cameras with higher megapixel ratings that were cheaper. You'll see why when you view the quality of the resulting pictures. The "Image Stabilizer" feature is most certainly worth it. An obvious difference can be noted from pictures taken without such advantage. I purchased the leather Canon case seperately and it makes a handsome addition. Though not as slim or thin as say the Sony model it will easily fit in your shirt pocket(w/o the case).
Cons: When viewing movies (which are great quality btw) on the camera itself the sound is too low to truly appreciate. However that is easily resolved by viewing the movie on your computer or television and simply raising the volume.
Other Thoughts: If looking for a compact, fast recycling camera that takes remarkable pictures displaying vibrant colors; you won't go wrong with this as your choice.

Great Camera
Pros: The camera is very high quality and easy to use. LCD is great, picture quality for all types of shots have been the best I've seen. Camera saves the settings you use in each mode so that you don't have to re-do everything when switching modes. Small overall size compared to most other cameras.
Cons: No battery meter
Other Thoughts: Great

Great for what I wanted it for
Pros: GREAT sub-compact camera and so far, the BEST sub-compact for 2006. PERIOD!!!. Imagage stabilizer is a superb and must feature.
Cons: Too pricey, should have been be a low $400 camera from the begining and fallen to sub $400 (online prices). The view finder is useless, unless you want to have the LCD turned off.
Other Thoughts: Digital Photography has a great short review on this. I do business, so it is a perfect camera for me, although it is not what i intitially purchased it for. If you can wait for the price ro drop a bit, it is a great camera at the right price. JMHO.

Great High-end Snapshot
Pros: Great pictures. Fast. Nice battery life. Easy to use and takes excellent shots in full auto mode. Plus nice features for a snapshot camera.
Cons: IS isn't as good as I had hoped for in low light situations (but still does a pretty good job) and no battery meter
Other Thoughts: Price was a little high when I purchased, but was well worth it. I have always been satisfied with Canon Digi-Elphs.

Very pleased
Pros: Wonderful picture quality, fast turn on time and low shot to shot lag (especially with the flash off). My wife loves the color accent and swap modes, I like how it remembers the setting differences between auto and manual modes. I can have max resolution and personal exposure settings on the manual mode and my wife can have full auto with a smaller picture size by just turning the wheel.
Cons: Can't use the optical zoom while filming, you can optically zoom before you start filming, just not during. No progressive battery meter.
Other Thoughts: Can take pictures without the flash easily due to the ISO800 sensitivity and image stabilization. Using a Sandisk Ultra 2 it will take full rez pictures contiously at 2/sec for 20 shots then slows to about 1.7 a second. 360 full res pictures on a 1 gig card. Battery lasts a long time

Pros: Very pleased with this camera. The IS system is very effective. Picture quality is very good, although sometimes outdoor shots are a little underexposed.
Cons: Scratches easily. I've had a Canon S500 for three years, and traveled all around the world with it, and not one scratch. The SD700, however, has developed scratches on the metal part after just one week. I'm pretty easy on my stuff too, so I don't think it was from abuse.
Other Thoughts: It's an expensive point & shoot, but I feel it's worth it with the IS. It takes excellent, low-light, flash-free shots indoors, and does a good job outside as well.

Pros: Fast start up and cycling between pictures - Image Stabilization really helps

sd700 sweet camera
Pros: 6MP w/optical image stabilization, 4x optical zoom, excellent red-eye reduction, top-notch quality pictures, solid construction, FAST exposures and reviewing, smooth as silk videos in 30fps at 640x480, or 60fps at 320x240, leverages my 4GB SD card nicely, sweet waterproof enclosure (separate purchase)
Cons: No optical zoom while doing video :(
optical viewfinder takes up unneeded space IMHO, I'd rather have a larger lcd.
Other Thoughts: I've owned this camera for over a week. No issues with noisiness in videos as some others have indicated. I can't say enough good things about this camera.
