Pros: Good camera for day conditions and Macro. Does 720p video in 15min bites. 8gb SDHC holds 1 hour of 720p. 15x optical zoom while recording.

Cons: zoom noise if you use camera audio, anything over 400 ISO is noisy.

Other Thoughts: I use a Sharp MD for audio so the mono that comes with the 720p video doesn't effect how I shoot. It gets deleted in editing and replaced with HQ pro audio.

Pros: Took a little getting used to all the settings but once I got used to it I love it!

Cons: Auto mode does not work as well as my old FinePix S3800 but the rest is far better. If you want a point and shoot camera I would get something else. Once you get the settings down you get WONDERFUL results.

Other Thoughts: This is the second Fiji camera that I have had and so far they have not let me down.

Pros: Optical zoom amazing, lotsa manual options.

Cons: This was probably a defective item as it never got the colors right. I tried every possible setting, read the manual (PDF) at least twice, but COULD NOT do anything to improve the picture quality. Also you cannot show the timestamp on the JPEG image. You can however have it overlaid if you're printing with a specialized printer.

Other Thoughts: After much research I settled for this item because it contained all the features I wanted, and had pretty good reviews. Got it from Newegg for $230 incl free shipping, a 2Gb SD card and a free camera case.

But I could NOT take a single pic that was representative of the scene being snapped. Daytime, nighttime, with and without flash, tried every combination of the settings I could think of to no avail. Colors were either too dark or too light. Finally decided to return it, but since I was traveling outside the country at the time, I passed the 30-day return period. Emailed Newegg, sent them some sample images to illustrate my point and they very kindly agreed to make an exception and issued an RMA. I told them that their excellent customer service was the reason I have remained a customer for so long. Apparently the camera was out of stock at the time so Newegg gave me a full refund.

Rating + 4 Good Camera - weak pixel though


Pros: Easy to use. Unlike many I find the camera to have excellent low-light abilities while filming movie clips. You can switch from the rear LCD to a small LCD inside the viewfinder..NICE for bright conditions when the rear LCD is hard to see.

Cons: Mine has a weak pixel that shows up when filming in HD mode in interior light. It appears as a bright orange spot whenever the pixel falls across a dark location. ... a bad pixel is acceptable in a monitor but never in a camera. I will be RMA'ing the camera and hope the replacement does not have this flaw in its CCD censor.

Other Thoughts: I read many comments that the lens cap fits loosely...well it is supposed to fit loosely. It is loose so it can be pushed off easily when the motor extends the lens. If it was tight fitting it would damage the motor. Others said they lost the cap...well just fasten it to the camera using the supplied small tether for that purpose :-)
The manual is wrong regarding frame rate for movies...this cam films at 25fps NOT 30 .. here is the report from AVIcodec

Video : 8.79 MB, 8202 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 1280*720 (16:9), mp4v = Apple QuickTime MPEG-4 native

25fps is more common on PAL systems...but switching the cam to PAL or NTSC yields the same 25fps rate?



HD video seems to lose a frame here and there...I'm hoping it is the slow 4gb sdhc card that came along with the camera as a special deal... a faster sdhc card may solve this....no missing frames at 640x480x25fps leads me to think it may be the speed of the 4mb/sec write sdhc card...

Pros: Wide angle, 15x optical zoom. "HD" video recording. Zoom works using video.

Easy to switch Electronic View Finder/large clear LCD.

Takes HCSD cards and standard AA cells.

Small (for features), form-factor - easy to hold/shoot one (right), handed.

Many automatic and manual setting options. Super Macro for extreme closeups. Dual image stabilization.

Histogram for light exposure - handy, once you learn what it's for.

Cons: The printed guidebook will get you started; but you'll need to use the 140+ page PDF file from the included disk to learn all the feature/options. Even then, many references are not clearly stated or organized - this camera needs a real how-to book.

Manual focus option is difficult to use.

No threads for adding lens filter (only protection is the cap) - so no protection when shooting.

Other Thoughts: A tight budget had me looking for as many of the features I wanted in my next digital camera (last was a simple point-and-shoot), as I could get for close to $200. Haven't seen anything else that comes close.

Pros will want a true DSLR, and .... Casual users may be better off with a compact point-and-shoot. Think of this as the small SUV of the digital camera market.

Pros: Pictures seem to be very nice so far. Definately better outdoors than in. The flash seems to wash everything out closer than about 12 feet. The HD video is much better than I expected, there is a little trouble with noise while zooming and focusing in video mode, but certainly not bad. Lots of settings, but a little cumberson to adjust quickly. I was afraid of long auto focus times after reading some other reviews but I was pleasantly surprised, even in low light it was pretty good. Good size LCD and pretty clear. Facial recognition is not perfect but it does a good job.

Cons: The lens cap is really junk. The body does not seem as substantial as the Fuji 5100 I have. Did I mention the lens cap?

Other Thoughts: For the money this is a really great camera, the stabilization works OK not as well as some higher end cameras, but certainly well enough for this price range. The picture quality is much higher than I had expected after reading the reviews posted on the net. The video is very impressive. All in all this would be an average camera in the $4xx price range, but in the $2xx price range it is VERY nice!

Pros: Excellent Zoom & Outstanding Options for a SUPER Price!!!! take the time to learn all the settings and what they are for. if you use them you will not regret it. Excellent buy for not being a DSLR

Cons: Focus is a little slow in low light but I can wait the time for a great picture. So this is not really a Con.

Other Thoughts: I have to address other reviews first. This Camera is fine in low light and indoors. You need to use the first macro setting in these situations (use with all option settings for low light). The setting is for close up shots and when you use it indoors the pictures are amazing. (If you are looking for a cheaper quality point and shoot with no settings to just take a picture, this is not the right camera for you. It needs to be set up correctly if you do, then its WOW amazing pics). This camera has settings for a reason and the pictures are amazing when they are used correctly!!!!!! If you want close to DSLR and willing to take the time to learn the camera, this camera is just plain AMAZING!!!!!!! The HD and normal video is very good too for being added in to a camera, it works great in a pinch if you dont have the camcorder available!!!!!!
For the money, AWESOME CAMERA!!!!

Pros: -Good exterior quality photos
-Good amount of options
-Good zoom

Cons: -Low light pics are bad, not even good in sun lite rooms. Unless you're outside you get low quality even on highest setting.
-Flash washes out pics in interior photos even

Other Thoughts: I tried a large amount of photos with this camera to make sure it's what I wanted. Interior pics with flash, a gym w/ flash and w/out flash, exterior in snow, exterior w/out snow, room with large patio doors on sunny day. Problem was that the pictures just didn't give me a good quality that I got from other cheaper point and shoot camera. Picture were either washed out or low quality. It is just within 30 days so I'm returning it and buying something different.

Rating + 5 Affordable good pictures


Pros: Great price for features, good optical zoom, good macro abilities, HD and non-HD video are pretty decent. Ability to 'zoom' while filming video (even if you can hear the motor).

Cons: Low light pictures are not so great, a little slow to setup focus in even moderate lighting.

Other Thoughts: Upgrade to replace an older hybrid Olympus camera that I dropped (ouch) and it works great in that capacity. For the price, this camera has great features for the "I want better pictures, but I'm not a pro" group (that's me). Looked at the Cannon SX10 (no manual focus), Olympus 565UZ (still uses xD photo cards...), and a few others. Having the ability to manually focus, use 'standard' SD cards, and the price all put this camera in the lead for my purchase.

Pros: Takes great pictures when you are outside. It's a little heavier than expected. I gave it 2 eggs because outside the picture look awesome and clear. See cons.

Cons: Does terrible in low level lights. When you are inside taking picture inside you are forced to use the flash which washes out all the colors in the pictures. I have even went into out sun room with all the blinds open and had all the lights on. Every picture came out dark without the flash. When we used the flash it still washed out the colors. I also own a Kodak and a Cannon. I didn't have a single problem in my sun room like I did with the Fuji.

Other Thoughts: I only bought his because I wanted a 10mp camera, and it was on sale. Next time I'll just stick with a better brand. Never again.

Pros: The Price vs Performance. Its truly and amazing value. We were looking at Sony Cybershot, and a few others about 70-100 bucks higher than this, and I couldnt tell a difference in the quality of the photos, and usability. There are so many cool features like the frame per frame preview when taking multi shots, and on and on. You feel like you have a low end SLR in your hands.
Image stabilization, face recognition and many more.

Cons: None yet, images are outstanding and the HD resolutions are true to its word.

No remote, but a timer.

Other Thoughts: We know that its just a point and shoot, and yes Im sure when you get to the Nikon D40 and up that it really gets quality, but the cost associated with lens' and the body itself far exceeds our demands in a day to day camera. You cannot beat the price for 10 MP HD resolutions.

Pros: Its a Fuji. I love Fuji cameras.

Cons: I had the S700, sold it to buy this one. Image quality is not as good on the 2000 as it is on the 700. So i bought another 700. Now need to sell this one. Just don't like the image quality. If you have never seen the Image quality on the 700 you might like this one.

Pros: - Takes great pictures.
- The zoom on this camera is amazing.
- The macro mode is great, can take pictures of very small items
- Takes 720p videos.

Cons: - The grip can cramp you hand pretty easily
- You either get to little or too much flash

Cons: Bad HD Video, Terrible low-light, Manual only on CD and not very informative at that.

Other Thoughts: This camera simply takes terrible photos. If you zoom in to 100% any photo shot in anything other than optimal light is totally blurred. Hard to say if the culprit is a poor quality image sensor or a poor lens. I don't like this camera at all.

Pros: Fantastic camera, nothing but high remarks for the price, the performance, and the quality of the amazing pictures it produces

Cons: Some of the shooting modes are a little repetitive, and I doubt I'll use all of them frequently, but more is better than less, i suppose.
You need to buy an additional accessory in order to push HD video directly to your TV from your camera.
A pretty limited range of aperture settings, however, I bought an SLR-Like, not an SLR, so I can live with it.

Other Thoughts: There are some complaints about focus lock, but I can't substantiate any of them, my camera focuses and locks very well, even while shooting HD video.

Pros: I love this camera. It is cheep, fast, and easy to use. I like the flash because you can set how much flash you need.... I have it normally at a lower setting so I not getting over exposure. Has lots of features, including muti-burst to where it takes 33 pictures in a matter of seconds. (But there is no flash of course, and up to 5mpx)

Cons: No rechargeable battery pack.... Had to spend $30 more for the AA battery packs... Eats though batteries quickly...
The manual settings are not very intuitive. They are labeled horribly thought the menus. It is differcult to see what I am changing because you must remember the manual to use manual setting. Haven't got to do that yet....

Other Thoughts: Even with the negatives, the camera takes wonderful pictures and I can't wait to start using it in my digital photography class...

Pros: i returned the S1000FD to purchase this camera. glad i did! WELL worth the return. the camera takes even better pictures than the S1000FD!!

Cons: 30 day non refundable return policy.. other than this the camera is "perfect" in my eyes i cannot find anything to really complain about!

Other Thoughts: color quality is PERFECT (unlike the S1000FD that is quite far off) i highly recommend this camera especially over the S1000FD

Pros: Great Camera. This thing takes wonderful pictures and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for decent priced camera. Came with a free SD Card and Case..couldn't pass up this deal.

Cons: The only issue I have is it does use a lot of battery juice. I recommend getting some rechargables for this unit.

Cons: There are some, but it's not fair to compare a camera like this to an SLR

Other Thoughts: Got this for my daughter to use. I was going to give her my older 40D, but she wanted something 'simple and portable'. The pictures look really nice for this price. The zoom is really amazing for the quality of picture. THe shutter lag is annoying to me, but I use a Canon 5D, so take that in to account. Consecutive FPS is really astounding something like 13 FPS! There are a lot of really great features on this camera and if you're looking for a slightly higher end point-and-shot, then you're making a good choice. The video recording is actually pretty darned good! Get a good SDHC to take full advantage of the camera's capabilities.

too many great features to list.

Cons: Can't seem to adjust all settings manually like one would a SLR, maybe I just haven't figured it out yet so might not be a con...
Flash can be overwhelming in lower lighted indoor scenes or not enough in larger areas leading to dark images.
Colors are not always true and I've noticed some color distortion in backgrounds upon closer inspection.
Just saw this camera for a bit less at a competitor... the first time newegg was beat...that I've seen anyways.

Other Thoughts: I've read many complaints about the camera cap not fitting snuggly and always falling off; I've never had this issue and mine fits just about perfectly. It's only coming off if I take it off.
Haven't really messed around with video yet but it appears fine at first glance.

go buy it! You will not be disappointed.

Pros: This camera when i was working took some great pics, Even the video was nice quality. That is about the only good things i have to say about this camera

Cons: third time using it the lcd screen turned red. Called fuji and told them they told me to return it for repair. I told them its a new camera and i want a new one they said "were not in the business of giving away cameras!" I asked them well are you in the business of producing quality cameras or just cheap ones for high prices. case in point fuji itself is the worst as far as customer service!

Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best. The camera was a bit over a month old which ment they didnt have to replace it but they are doing it. I LOVE NEWEGG!! If othre companies would just follow there example then this world would be a better place. Thank you Newegg!

Pros: -Excellent macro
-Easy settings, ie. video custom setting, portrait, etc.
-Very large resolution
-Not much jpeg distortion

Cons: -Flash is unpredictable
-Slower shutter time then I'd like
-Works better in natural lighting, and not indoors.

Other Thoughts: Overall, a decent camera for the price, but still trying to get used to some of the functions. It's temperamental.

Rating + 5 Terrific Deal


Pros: Outstanding features. Easy to use. The best pictures. Has a lot of features you would expect from a camera costing four times more. The bonus of getting the 2gig memory card and carrying case makes it all the better. Very light weight, easy to handle, and convienent buttons. If you are looking for a great camera then you will want this one.

Cons: The only negative is the display screen is a little grainy, although it is extra large.

Other Thoughts: At $229 you will not find a better deal anywhere.

Rating + 5 Taking pictures is fun again!


Pros: 1) Focus works MUCH faster than my previous digital camera.
2)Flash recharge is fairly quick for a compact camera
3)zoom lever near shutter button is great!
4)Well built,solid feel
5)Full of features
6) video works good
7)love the EVF for outside
8)Battery life is pretty good even with alkalines
9) Came with a camera bag and 2gb card, all for $229!!!

Cons: 1) No flash output or hot shoe...but what do I expect for The price!
2)I wish the image stabilzer was stonger, pictures are little tough to compose at full zoom.

Other Thoughts: For the price you cant beat this deal! Camera is not perfect but it does everything it should very well for a $229 camera. If you cant spend the $$ on an SLR get this one. It makes a great all around go anywhere camera with pretty good video. I would buy it again with no hesitation.

Pros: Excellent Lens
High Grip case for non slip
Many Options for shots
Easy to use

Fast Zoom

Cons: Lens cap is very week, make sure you use the included cord so you do not lose the cap. Does not include rechargeable batteries, you must purchase seperate or in a bundle deal.

Other Thoughts: I normally do not give out 5 stars but the price of this feature rich camera makes it worth the 5 stars.

There is a rumour in many reviews that say the Zoom will not work in HD Video mode, well I am here to get rid of the rumour. I have used the zoom many times while recording in HD and found it worked great.

If you run into a review that still says it will not work, then they either did not test it or guessed based on other camera's limitations.

One last note, the lens included with this camera is excellent. I would put it up against any Nikon on the market.

I hope this helps you all with a decision.

Pros: Great camera. Easy to learn to use. Not much for instructions but after messing with the camera for about 15-20 minutes, I had it down. Great camera, quick and easy to use.

Cons: None that I can think of other than it's not a true DSLR, but I wasn't in it to buy one. Great camera though

Pros: 1) Really light and small
2) durable body and sleek look
3) Great Battery Life
4) cost effective - for a camera of its cost, it takes pictures of far better value
5) Easy to operate

Cons: 1) Focus at times wavers on the macro setting
2) The flash is hard to get used to - either too much light or not enough

Rating + 5 Unbelievable for the price!


Pros: Amazing number of settings, HD (720p) video, big screen, not too small form factor, unbelievable zoom, ease of use in auto, face recognition, IS. I like this camera a lot. It is a nice size, and easy to use. Other reviewers have said "Not a video camera". Well of course not, it is a still camera that shoots good video for $260. If you want a dedicated video camera, this is not it, but it is awesome for what it is and the price.

Cons: Flash is small, no flash connect, somewhat confusing menus, propriitary USB cable, remote not included, my computer wont read it as a hard drive, lens cap has bad fit. I don't expect all of these for the price, but the deal would have been even sweater if they were included

Rating + 3 when it will focus correctly, WOW


Pros: excellant features in one small greatly priced package.
The video output, once you get auto focus to focus, is absolutely amazing! When Pausing the video, It looks like quality photograph. Amazing indeed. The sound quality is ok. nothing stellar but for the price you've paid here, :) WELL WORTH IT!

Cons: The problem I am seeing with this camera is it's sometimes impossbile to get a focus lock. it's very frustrating and even when in very well lit areas, that have plenty of things any other camera would lock focus onto quickly, this one struggles and 33-50% of the time FAILS to lock focus on.

Other Thoughts: I will keep this camera. For when it does focus, it is just simply amazing! But buyers beware, if you want a snappy auto focus, that locks on quickly, look elsewhere this is not for you.

Pros: Like all Fuji cameras, this camera is a decent photo camera. Like others I agree that the Auto setting will be grainy due to the high ISO. Use programmed mode and knock it down to 200 if possible.

Cons: The unit I purchased struggles to stay in focus when shooting video. The video is nearly unwatchable due to the constant focus oscillation. Even slight movement will cause it to go completely out of focus for 1 to 2 seconds. Expect about 30 minutes of video on 4 NiMhs.

Other Thoughts: If want an HD video camera do not purchase the Fuji.

Pros: Small but comfortable in large hands. Menu system easy to use. Incredibly fast multi-frame modes. Great lense.

Cons: USB connector is proprietary. This has always been the case with Fujifilm cameras? Would have been nice to have component cable or HDMI, rather than have to get as option.

Other Thoughts: I have owned a few, non-DSLR type cameras, was close to getting the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 or 50, but I am glad that I opted for this one instead. It's just a good deal.

Pros: This is my first camera since my parent's 3.2 Megapixel 5/6 years ago. The camera feels great, the photo quality looks really nice, and all the functionality of the camera makes this is really great buy.

Cons: Some of the menus and button commands are a little weird, but nothing a little time getting used to couldn't fix. Also, the HD video quality is decent, but not great, so don't expect beautifully shot HD movies.

Other Thoughts: This is one solid camera and for its price, I think it's one of the best in the market. Definitely a great buy for someone who wants to take quality pictures without forking over 600+ for a SLR camera.

Pros: Great for the money... would have liked to dropped $1000 and purchased an SLR, maybe next time... So I researched quite a few cameras before making this purchase, and the research paid off!! A great camera overall, 10 MP, fully featured, ISO to 6400(although the quality is reduced when shooting at 3200 and 6400)... read the spec sheet... it has a ton of stuff not to mention HD...The quality of construction in my opinion is great... nice weight, very solid feeling, buttons and dials seem professional quality( some cameras, like the kodaks seem to have a sort of a cheap quality to their dials/buttons...imo...) nice size LCD display...

Pictures look really good on auto, but can be even better with some basic photography knowledge and using some of the manual modes.. The 15X zoom is great, the Macro/Super Macro mode is stunning... I can seriously take a shot from a half inch away with amazing quality.. And... as always New Egg...there is NONE better!!
269.99 with free case/ 2GB card!!

Cons: If you are purchasing this camera for the the HD video option, please know that the audio quality is very sub-par...it is mono, and in my professional opinion(I'm a recording engineer) is only suited for voice capture(don't expect to shoot a concert and have it sound good)...The video quality is very good for a still camera, but in HD mode, note that recording is limited to 15 mins., a shot... regardless of your card size...(you can shoot multiple 15 min HD films until your card is full, but 15 is the max rec time)...

Actual cons about the camera for pictures.... my only complaint so far is when using the lcd for capturing the shot, the quality of the lcd display before taking the picture, to me, is somewhat grainy...maybe it's just me...it doesn't affect the actual picture taken..., but just a little annoyance when capturing imo....

Other Thoughts: Look no further...If your looking for a great, solid camera, and are looking for an "SLR like" super-zoom camera for a fraction of the cost, you can't beat this one!!

Other Thoughts: I purchased this camera for our soon to be first born. I wanted a camera that would be easy to use for quick moments, but also have control for set up shots. I first saw this camera at best buy and quickly learned my favorite part of the camera. you can use it one handed!! The zoom is located right in from of the shutter button. I have used this camera for a few days and love it. Well worth the price; and even better from Newegg! I am expecting many captured moments.

My only problem is the lens cap. It just kinda gos over the lens. I prefer the caps you need to pinch to release.

Pros: Takes great pictures up to 10M. All the usual camera options. Finally Fujifilms has it where you can zoom in and out while taking movies, even the new HD mode(1280x720). It's light weight!! Only had for one day and I am very pleased so far.

Cons: I like to take pictures of moving objects (RC Airplanes) and the time that the screen goes black after pressing the shutter is too long to keep the opject in the view finder. I turned off the Image Display, but it is still one or two seconds of black after pressing the display button. I had Fujifilm FinePix S7000 and there was no delay so this is a little disappointing.

Other Thoughts: It's small!!! Have shown to several people and the first comment is about how small it is. If you have big hands you may want to try it in the store before buying.
