Bad Deal - Heres Why...
Pros: Ability to aim camera via web browser, wireless worked great. Audio with video was nice. High frame rate.
Cons: High res and high quality is not impressive. Camera is not sensitive to low light dispite what the box says. After being on for an hour or two grey dead spots started showing up in the output. Rebooting the camera did not fix this. Does not support the ability to do motion capture and still capture at the same time. I had IE lock up and crash a few times while viewing the video. Is sensitive to IR but could not get it to pick up any objects lit via IR only. Does NOT support passwords longer than 8 characters. Motion capture has a max record time of 5 seconds and there is a delay between the email's it sends of a min of 1 minute. 2x 'digital' zoom (doesn't really zoom, just blows up an already grainy picture)
Other Thoughts: I enjoy Linksys / Cisco product and usually find them to be high quality. The casing on this camera is nice and the interface is much like any other linksys product. However the video quality leaves much to be desired. It maxes out at 640x480 but is not crisp, instead it looks kinda grainy like its a low res image being sharpened by filters. At $250 dollars this was the worst Linksys/Cisco product I've ever purchased. You can get better video quality from a cheap webcam. I have returned my camera.

Not Bad
Pros: Camera works well. Setup is not as difficult as people say. IP address displays on LED screen. Camera has built in webserver. You can type IP address in your browser and set it up online. You just have to hard wire it to your network before you turn it on to enable the nic and then restart it with the cable disconnected after you have configured it to put it back in wireless mode.
Cons: Does not support WPA2 security (very sad for a newer product). Webserver not compatible with iPhone. You can configure it but cannot view the video.

Not for Vista Users
Pros: It works. Image quality is acceptable. Sensitive to infrared illumination.
Cons: Emailed videos, as a consequence of enabling motion detection, are unviewable in Vista. What's the point if you cannot use this for unattended intruder detection! The device emails a ".ASF" video file which will not play in Vista's Windows Media Player because it is missing a Sharp audio codec. A link to codec can be found through the "web help" option in the error message. After installion, the file is still not viewable. Linksys support says this is known problem for ALL their cameras running on Vista. There is no work around. I tried using "ASFTOOLS" to convert the ASF file to an AVI or MPEG files. These will not display either.
Other Thoughts: Motiion detection produces lots of false positives -- emails with ~1MB attachments when there has been nothing moving in front of the camera. It will fill your mailbox, especially if you set the sensitivity too high. At night, the image "noise" is a particularly good trigger for motion detection. By day, a moose could walk by the camera in your living room and it might, maybe detect it. It you would like to sit by your PC and remotely check in on the camera, then you could do this, but who wants to watch nothing. It's when there is a real trigger event that you want to be notified. And BTW, the max email video length is 5 seconds with a 2 minute interval between recordings. Don't waste your money on this.

Mediocre product from mediocre company
Pros: While it all works it's a great bang-for-buck product.
Cons: Quirky. Most people will be unable to get all their desired functions to work. Camera seems 'unstable' - crashes, loses connection, etc.
Other Thoughts: Buy used and\or test it *first* or don't buy it at all.

Not difficult to setup
Pros: Setup was easy. I had it operating (via a hardline) within 5 minutes of opening the box.
Cons: Wireless setup was straightforward, however they didn't mention in the instructions that you must unplug the wired connection, power off, then back on for the wireless to initialize.
Other Thoughts: I'm connecting this wireless to a WRK54G router which I've changed from the standard configuration and I still had no problem. I plugged it in to a hard line, logged in on my ROUTER to view the DHCP clients, and found it. Then I logged into the camera via it's dynamic IP and went about configuring it (without the CD software that ships with it). I specified a fixed IP and configured my routers port forwarding to send 80 through to the camera. I also use a service called www.no-ip.com which is a FREE service to associate a subdomain with your home's dynamic IP. Works great.

Awesome
Pros: Great Cam for the money - everything works just right!
Cons: None at present
Other Thoughts: Tech Support issues? I dont think its Lynksys - its the outsource of support and they cannot understand us, nor we them. Another great NAFTA deal.... get support back in the USA

Works great when it works
Pros: Great surveillance camera with great features when it works
Cons: Quirky..Got it to work great for a while. It quit and I haven't been able to get it to work reliably since. Maybe it's just broken....At least the wireless portion.

WVC200
Pros: Got everything to work except email notification when motion detected.
Cons: email notification just does not work, period! I spent hours on it.
Other Thoughts: Tech help is terrible. Kept getting "mysteriously" disconnected or worse yet, put on hold for seemingly an eternity. The techs just don't have a clue so don't get your hopes up. LINKSYS is definitley not ready to support this caamera.

Great for the Price
Pros: This Camera is great for the price. I connected the camera to my wireless network with wep and it connected fine. Setup port forwarding on my router and everything worked fine. They do have an update for vista systems to play video.
Cons: none

I should have listened...
Pros: Inexpensive. Nice design.
Cons: Play well with a wired connection, but would not work with wireless and WAP. Linksys tech support, which is the worst I have ever encountered, had no solution (after escalating it to a senior tech). He suggested that I disable security on my wireless network... it did work with no encryption as a wireless camera. Unacceptable fix.
Additionally, the color output was pink and gray under halogen lighting. Even with a firmware upgrade, the color remained terrible and the video was fuzzy. Needless to say, I requested a RMA.
I purchased the camera as an alternative to more costly units, but you get what you pay for.
Other Thoughts: Linksys needs to reevaluate their technical support... the tech concluded that "the firmwares in the router and camera don't match".

usable with its quirks
Pros: I think this wireless PTZ is fairly decent for the price. It does have its issues which drive everyone crazy, but it does work. The ohana in Hawaii can chase the grandson around in Texas fine.
Cons: Color is off slightly in low light. I use cool white bulbs in the living room. WPA needs numbers no special characters or letters. FTP setup does not need a File Path Name. Need to refresh page a few times to get mangagement/view image page to show properly.
Other Thoughts: Wireless setup needs a numerical code, no letters for some reason. I setup my WRT54G on WPA w/ an 8+ digit number to generate a key. Do all of this wired at first, then test it wireless. I use a fixed IP for the cam, so I can managed it directly from on my network. The DNS server I use is DynDNS. Setup a free account and enter all the info, works as published. The FTP upload does not need any File Path Name. Simply enter the FTP server (ftp.yourdomain.com) and user name (user@yourdomain.com) and of course password. LEAVE THE PATH NAME BLANK. I looked all over and tried all sorts of names. It always said failed or successful, but no image. Doesn't matter if email notification is on, passive mode, secondary etc. Every 30 min it uploads a jpg to my folder (user) on my server with hostmonster. As for the GUI having to refresh a few times for it to load properly, it's just that; but it does work with IE7(I use avant). The in-laws are able to log on from Hawaii to chase the grand

Would be a nice camera ... if it worked.
Pros: The design looks great, but I didn't have much of a chance to play with it because ... (see cons)
Cons: ... it only worked for about five minutes. The first indication that there may be a problem was the Setup utility couldn't find it on the network. The display showed an IP. Using that I could access the web interface, which was cool. I had it working camera and looked at it for about 5 minutes. I then unplugged it to put the base on. Upon plugging it back in, the LEDs no longer blinked with activity and the LCD display was blank. Resets did nothing, Unplugging did nothing. No LAN, just power, nothing. Only the power LED was lit and the camera would pan tilt upon startup to calibrate I assume. But can't ping, can't access, can't connect via setup software, etc. dead. RMA please. I'll try another one. Linksys is decent when the products work.
Other Thoughts: I called Linksys and they tried to offer suggestions to get it reset but pretty quickly came to the conclusion it was defective. Said Newegg needed to RMA it. Called NewEgg and I have to say they are quick, efficient and pleasant to work with. No struggle at all, the new one's in the mail and they sent me a UPS label within minutes. NewEgg is Great! They got my companies business.

Adequate
Pros: Camera is very responsive through Verizon's FIOS. From Pennys, a cam setup in Tampa, Fl responds surprisingly well. The built in motion detection works as expected.
Cons: Plantlife appears purple, not green. Videos do not play in Windows Vista. To date, I have not found a codec that will permit the Linksys cam vids to play within Vista.
Other Thoughts: As another has commented, the base stand is somewhat substandard and flimsy. Also, I could not get the CAM to communicate via wireless with the Verizon FIOS router model.

This camera is being over-rated
Pros: On the upside this is a cool looking camera. I mean to me it screams HAL9000. Motion is reasonably good.
Cons: TERRIBLE color rendering, use of ActiveX for built in web server, Twitchy to set up.
Other Thoughts: I bought this one based on the usually reliable ratings from fellow eggheaders. I wish I could post pictures in this review. The color rendering is terrible. It is not just me, the Linksys forums are full of this complaint. My woodwork looks purple, my greens look brown. On the upside it renders my grey cat just fine I suppose. The choice of ActiveX is a pain since i prefer to use Firefox over IE, but that is not a problem for me in particular since with a little work you can make it work with external programs like WebCamXP. Setup was frustrating and it repeatedly failed to find the camera. Very grainy picture for the price. My advice? Check the linksys forums on linksys home site search for WVC200 and click on Community Forums then search for WVC200 again. You may be glad you did.

Does the job just fine
Pros: Price seems reasonable, software works as described, not difficult to set up (I used wired ethernet & fixed IP) which software discovered camera on in about 30 seconds. Picture quality seems ok. Software works on Vista and XP, easy to log onto camera and administrate it. I had it doing everything I wanted it to in about 5 minutes.
Cons: only 2X zoom. Discrete, stepping-style panning and vertical movement. Not necessarily cons at this price point, but something to be aware of. Have not used Solo DNS service but not much good said about it, so buyer beware on that option.
Other Thoughts: Needless to say, at this price point it's not going to give your HD camcorder any competition, but I think it does its job dependably and adquately for the price. I have not used any of the advanced recording features, so I can't speak to those. If I needed another one I would not hesitate to buy a second one of this model.

Does not work for Vista
Pros: small and reasonable priced. Good help from New egg.
Cons: Its recorded video can not be viewed on Vista. Windows Media Player 11 does not play the format of Linksys Video. Called Linksys, they said they have no plan to fix it.
Other Thoughts: I have to shop different camera to replace the linksys now!

Linksys WVC200
Pros: Nice resolution. Easy to install and setup. Easy to upgrade firmware. Have not needed to reboot at all.
Cons: Digital zoom is 2x. Somewhat limited zoom functionality. Included stand is lightweight and not very sturdy. Also, holds camera at a slight upward angle.
Other Thoughts: I have not used the wireless feature.

Works good
Pros: Works good, easy setup, wireless capabilities. I have seen people say it doesn't work with linksys routers but this is not true. I have it working on my wrt54g with no problems. range is fine good way to watch the house from the office.
Cons: the picture not the best quality but hey its alot of camera for the money. the picture delay across internet is dependent upon your internet upload speed.
Other Thoughts: This is an excellent camera for non critical application.

great little cam
Pros: pan and tilt functions are EXCELLENT. Very speedy, audio works pretty good too. User interface is really easy to use, remote setup a snap, software supports plenty of cameras.
Cons: Camera is useless in really low light conditions, zoom is terrible.
Other Thoughts: I have bought a couple diffent cameras for clients that have varying needs. One wants to be able to monitor his workers remotely. This camera will be PERFECT for that. When lighting is adequate this camera performs really well, and price is great.

Impressive
Pros: Great clarity, the pan/tilt works well. Lots of nice embedded software features including DDNS. That was very handy.
Cons: Setup could maybe have been a little simpler but we had no trouble connecting to any brand access point we tested. The antenna is a little fussy about which direction it wants to be pointed.
Other Thoughts: We decided to try one of these to keep an eye on a remote job site. Looks like it's going to work out really well so we'll pa couple more.

WVC200 Wireless Camera
Pros: Good image, if your throughput can handle the 640x480 resolution. PZT controls are very cool, and the microphone works well. DDNS support is nice, as well.
Cons: Mine was VERY picky, with regards to "what wireless router", that it liked to talk too. Tried 2 different Linksys routers, with "no luck", and ended up using a Buffalo Air Station, with MIMO; works GREAT, with this camera! As noted elsewhere, the documentation, for DDNS "assumes" that you're going to use the "promoted service", that comes with the camera. I used DynDNS, and it works just fine.
Other Thoughts: For the money, this camera is a good value. It has a very-good image, and is reliable, once you find a wireless router, "that it likes". The camera-monitoring software is pretty decent, as well. The web-based management utility works well. Until someone comes out with something better, this one is hard to beat, for the features that it offers, for around $250.

WVC200 WIRELESS CAMERA
Pros: Good Camera for the price. Picture quality as expected. Ready to go out of the box with some setup for the average user.
Cons: Wireless is choppy and gets frustrating to use because of the delay in picture and camera movement.
Other Thoughts: Overall good camera for the price. Would recommend a wired connection for better response.

Pros: Great value for the price. Easy to setup if you follow the Mfrs. recommended settings. We installed ours on a company network and made it availible to the internet. This of course requires opening the correct ports on your gateway or router. We're purchasing a second one today.
Cons: One thing that is very noticable, the preformance difference between wired and wireless is like night and day. We've found only one user at a time can connect while the camera is wireless and expect to have any resonable response at all.

Not bad, not great
Pros: Secure wireless, PTZ, web access.
Cons: Color is shaded purple. Took a while to setup after researching the Linksys forums for help.
Other Thoughts: Use numbers for the WPA encryption on your network. It makes the setup so much easier. Extend antenna straight out, picks up signal way better.

Great cam but some minor anomalies
Pros: Works great when hard wired or when using the default wireless settings. Good picture and lots of tilt-pan options as well as ftp support.
Cons: A little more expensive than I would have liked but probably worth the cost. No ability to force the wireless config to use a specific wireless channel. I had to change my wireless access point to channel 1 from 3 to get it to work correctly. One of my neighbors uses 6 and another is using 11 so I avoid those channels. This provides better wireless performance for all.
Other Thoughts: I am using all Linksys and Cisco products on my network. I am not using the DDNS feature since I always get the same IP from Comcast. If you see the same, just point your browser to the IP of your cable box and make sure port 80 is being forwarded to the IP of your camera. You must also use a static IP on the camera so it will always work from the internet.

Very Cool!
Pros: I’ve had the camera for 2 days now. The Setup was straight forward, (my technical understanding is somewhat high) with simple to follow instructions. Total setup took about an hour and half and that included messing with the settings and having to reset the camera to start over (password challenges). The video quality is good, about what I expected for the price. I read a previous review that mentioned the motion detector would only work if the motion was within a foot or so of the camera. I found that not to be true. I tested it at15 feet from the camera and it works fine. Also, the email alerts are awesome!!! I bought the camera to watch the house while I’m away and to be notified if someone entered the house. The cool thing is, even if someone broke in and stole the camera, I would have them on video taking the camera. Make sure to follow the instructions and do the setup while the camera is hardwired to your network. Once you’ve got it setup, and then switch over to the wireless. I
Cons: I haven’t had any problems so far. As with most electronics, if it works for the day, it will work for a longtime (most of the time ;-) )
Other Thoughts: I would like more options on length of video for motion detection. I might just need to play with it more.

A+ For Linksys
Pros: What a great camera. Works wired or wireless and over the internet. Pan, tilt, and audio all work great. Picture quality is excellent compared to the Linksys WVC54GC which is very dark. Nice style. Can be put in the desktop stand or wall mounted with two screws (not included). No problems getting the cameras to work(I have 2). Follow the step by step quick guide and you'll have them working in no time. Software to view and record at predetermined times or record with motion sensing.
Cons: Like others have said," A Bit Pricey!" But your getting a quality camera not a cheapo! Be careful with the camera in the desktop stand. There isn't any snaps or tabs to secure it in place. The camera just sits on top of the stand and could fall out of it if the power cable is tugged on and is not secured.
Other Thoughts: To get the cameras to work over the internet you need to have an understanding of how your router works and open ports. You also need to know how to assign IP addresses to the cameras especailly if you have more than one becuse the default IP will be the same for both cameras and will conflict. Linksys free tech support will help you do this via their toll free number.

Nice Product
Pros: Nicely packaged in the box. User manual and Setup Wizard are very clear and easy to use. The camera itself is of high quality and image quality is good, including its low light ability. Monitoring and recording desktop utilities are highly functional and simple to use. Remote access via web works flawlessly and is easy to setup if you're familiar with dynamic DNS, routing and wireless networking. Overall I am very pleased with this product. There seems to be a lot of negative feedback from consumers on the internet towards Linksys/Cisco products. Most of my home networking (wired and wireless) hardware is made by Linksys and I am very pleased with their products and support. It is for this reason that I chose this camera. A bit pricey, yes but you won't be disappointed.
Cons: The only con I have encounted thus far is the lack of documentation concerning remotely accessing the camera via the web. Plenty of info on how to setup thier propietary DDNS service SoloLink which they offer free account access for 90 days. Don't know the price after that - didn't need it. There are other FREE DDNS services available on the internet that work just as well as SoloLink. I used DynDNS for mine and it works great.
Other Thoughts: The installation wizard gets the basic configuration done but you will need to access the web configuration utility to setup advanced features. It helps if you already understand routing and wireless networking. The user manual on the included disk does a good job explaining infrastructure vs ad hoc and other networking settings.
