Nice. When it works
Pros: Nice fast and reliable when it works (no dropped connections etc)
Cons: Broke after about a year of use - apparently this is a common failure mode with netgear routers, the power comes on and the system locks. Reset, shaking etc result in no improvement.
Other Thoughts: I haven't yet had a router that lasted longer than two years. I am trying minor labels instead of netgear/dlink next to see if that has any impact on quality.

Decent
Pros: 1. Small footprint. 2. Bland white color goes with anything. 3. Can be laid horizontal or can sit vertical with included feet. 4. Easy to install driver. 5. Compatible with Windows XP networking.
Easy network setup control panel. Port forwarding, IP address reservation, hardware firewall, IP and content blocking, and more
Cons: Some features on the control panel do not work. You cannot use the feature which emails you a notification when someone visits a restricted site.
Other Thoughts: I've owned this router for over three years and it works fine. The wireless speed is slow compared to the new routers these days, but it works fine for my home network. Overall, a decent little router.

it sings, hates interruptions
Pros: since this is the only router ive owned, i'd say it works ok but i dont know any other wireless networks except the one at school
Cons: this router gets alot of interference with my microwave and home phone, i get kicked out of my online games whenever one of these is in use. It always makes a loud squeek/humm, rly annoying.
Other Thoughts: i've had this 3 years (atleast) . not sure what happened but it randomly stopped letting me access the net and wont be assigned an ip address anymore, i'm buying a different router tmrw.

Cheap
Pros: Very Cheap, I bought it refurbished from NewEgg for $10.
Cons: After about a month it started making a high pitched squealing noise and then the wireless stopped working.

You get what you pay for
Pros: It was cheap.
Cons: To many to list but at least it works. Looking for a better product now.
Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for and this product is no exception.

Just unbelievably bad
Pros: Inexpensive Decent range Small footprint
Cons: Slow, slow, slow! The interface, the wireless connection, the wired connection- everything about it is slow. Router times out during setup just about every time you click "Apply". Needs to be rebooted about once a week.
Other Thoughts: I felt there's just no way this router can be so slow and buggy, so I called NETGEAR. Their support politely explained to me that my internet connection and/or my PC was likely the cause of my problems... Since the router WAS working (just very poorly). Gee, thanks. I wish it had been DOA, so that I could have returned it and had a shot at a functional replacement. Instead I'll have to waste money on another router to replace this half-functional piece of trash.

DOA Netgear = Nightmare
Pros: Price was inviting for a refurbished unit Other reviews seemed it was worthy
Cons: There is a problem with the wireless part of the router. The wireless conductivity light blinks steady. For some reason nothing can connect wireless with the router even with no WEP I called NetGear for technical assistance. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!!! They rerouted my call four times then they denied me any support because there is no serial number on the bottom. I asked for a manager when he spoke with me he had a heavy Indian accent I could bearly understand. He stated refurbish units have no warranty, no support, no exchanges. However there is a 30-warranty card from NETGEAR in the box guaranteeing a 30-day hardware and free technical support. The manager still denied any support and claimed I was making up a fraudulent statement.
Other Thoughts: I got a big run-around from netgear tech. There is defently a problem with the wireless radio I will give NewEgg a call for a RMA. I think newegg's tech/customer support is one of the best in the business. My final advice is to beware of refurbished/Recertified

Nice router
Pros: Its a nice little router. Easy to setup and has worked flawlessly ever since I plugged it in.
Cons: That I know of, routers don't usually come with a password as a factory default. Not worth taking an egg off for since you can find the pw in the manual anyway.

Perfect!
Pros: This is by far the best wireless router i have ever owned. The install is easy as cake, the router is extremely reliable, and the price is very affordable. Over 1 year this router has NEVER crashed, i NEVER had to restart it for any reason except configuration changes. You will not go wrong with this router, its an amazing product which will serve you for many years to come.
Cons: None whatsoever.

Decent, but....
Pros: Looks pretty. Vertical stand included to save valuable desk space. For the price it does what you ask of it, most of the time.
Cons: Range is okay but not fantastic. My old router had a stronger signal on average (possibly due to the dual antennas?) Wired machines never have an issue but wireless connections stop working after about a week or two. Reset the router, or adjust settings via a wired machine and then hit apply, and the router will work again. Strange but predictable at least.
Other Thoughts: If you attempt to check for new firmware via wired pc when it is in its 'frozen' state, it returns a "not enough memory to perform a version check" so my best guess is it keeps an unclearable log of wireless activity and just fills up until you reset it? Either way it is annoying but not a deal breaker. It was cheap and should hold me over until I am ready to move to wireless-N so I'm not complaining.

OK
Pros: Looks great, and is very small. Many features, and setup is easy and straightforward.
Cons: Range is not great at all, and it is not possible change power levels like in other routers. And currently, it is not even possible to put another open source firmware on the router without bricking it.

Pros: Works fairly well, no issues under full load like a few other reviews stated.
Cons: Wireless range isn't the best, but I used it more for the wired connections anyway. With one wall between it and my laptop about 25 feet away I have a fair signal of 3 out of 5 bars, this could also have to do with the PCMCIA card I'm using in the laptop.
Other Thoughts: The flashing lights make for a decent night light.

Best G Router
Pros: great speed great range looks great
I tried a wpn824, but had to return it as the range was less than "max", The wgr614 beats it solidly in range. Go figure.
Cons: I am on my 3rd one. Lifespan is about two years in my experience.

OK for landlady, not me
Pros: Worked fine for years for my landlady, but all she ever does on her connection is check her e-mail.
Cons: When running anything that opens multiple connections (online games, etc.) the connection with the router shuts off for about 20-30 seconds.
Other Thoughts: I moved into a new place where my landlady had had this router and I give it three stars because it worked fine for her for a long time, but I had to buy her a new one because this one could not handle most online streaming (Netflix/Hulu were too much) nor gaming of any sort (it would simply time out every time). It doesn't seem to be able to handle a connection under full load. The new router I bought her works great.

UNRELIABLE
Pros: I like most Netgear products. This one is priced well, has a decent configuration menu system, and can stand up or lay down.
Cons: The router is basically unreliable for websurfing. After a few days you'll need to reboot the router. Otherwise pages don't load up or images within them are broken. The LAN seems to stay fine regardless.
Other Thoughts: I though maybe it could be just my unit. Well, I've run across clients who've had the same problem. Even family members or friends of mine experienced the same. This model also has different versions but all seem to be affected. Since I bought the Apple Airport Extreme Base Station no problems.

Netgear
Pros: I've had this router for at least 6 years and its been flawless.
I work for an ISP, and its rare that we get calls about netgears.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I only use it for the wired connection though, so now sure how it is wireless. Lately, I'm noticing the connection drop a few times a day. Not sure if this is the modem or router causing it but I need another router anyway. No surprise I'm going with the same one!

Pros: As usual for netgear, very good tech support.
Cons: Just like others, the rain seems to kill it. I've had to reset this thing at least 15 times in the 3 weeks that I've had it. Also, I changed one setting from default and I lost internet completely. When I try to get back into the router, I get "occupied by 192.168.1.3". There is no such computer here.
Other Thoughts: The router is simple, perhaps three computers is just more than it can handle. Overall, I'm out $40.00.

rain problem
Pros: it worked and was cheap
Cons: when ever it rained it went out i knew it was the router because i would plug the modem into the computer and the internet worked fine but once it rained the wireless on it went out.
Other Thoughts: buy it if you live in a place where it doesnt rain (lol)

Great Product!
Pros: Installs easily. Although I normally manually configure the router, the auto configuring software is actuall good. It intuitively resets ip address to avoid conficts with existing router. So this is an easy set up for people with little or no network skills. Rarely needs resetting.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Go for it.

One major flaw, but otherwise good
Pros: Nice design, nice user interface, reputable manufacturer.
Cons: There is ONE NTP Server that this router uses to get its time & date information, and that server is apparently DOWN. That means my router thinks it is Friday, 10 Jan 2003 06:02:43 rather than Friday, 3 July 2009 at 12:00:00. This means I cannot set schedules on my router, which in a family setting is a big deal. I'd like to control my daughter's access to the Internet; because this NTP server is down (and has been for well over a week) I cannot. Curiously, I cannot 'tell' the router to simply use the PC clock. I also cannot 'tell' the router to use a different NTP server (in other words, one that works). So, unless this mysterious NTP server fixes itself, I will be without a fully-functioning router. And that doesn't make me happy.

Great Router
Pros: This has been a great router. Easy to use and great functionality.
Cons: The one I purchased was refurbished, so this might not apply to new ones. Every so often I would have to restart it. It would lock up but power cycling would always fix it. This was every couple of months or so.

Great all around router
Pros: Perfect Router for the regular family guy. Easy setup, works with all my stuff.
Cons: None other than the router goes bad after 2 -4 years, but most routers start getting bad by then too.
Other Thoughts: I had this router for 4 years, The wifi on it recently started going bad on me, so I bought another one, Good as new.

Easy
Pros: I think I may have beat the other guys time of 11 minutes. I only had difficulty finding out what the default password was and discovered it printed on the bottom of the router. I didn't even bother using the installation cd that came with it. I used the website set up. I works throughout the house and never gives me any problems connecting.
Cons: None.

My first Netgear, so far so good
Pros: I got this from another vendor but wanted to let Neweggers know the skinny. I had a D-link and it worked great for about 4 years then all to once it started dropping my connection to the net which play havoc on my Xbox Live connection. I choose this one because it has high marks for Xbox Live as well as PC use. I setup the router and had some trouble getting the wireless up but this turned out to be my own fault not that of the router. Finally after reading the directions and not being so high and mighty I set up the unit and logged right in with my wireless laptop. It is fast, visually appealing and it works flawlessly with my Xbox , laptop and my desktop PC. Despite some negative on this model I have no complaints.
Cons: None at this time but look at my other thoughts for a tid bit.
Other Thoughts: I believe it does mention this in the setup but make sure you do the initial setup from a wired connection. I think my first attempts and subsequent aggravation was because I tried to go between the wired and wireless connection on my laptop. Start from a wired desktop or laptop than re-boot and re-connect.

G stands for Good
Pros: Easy setup, doesn't run hot compared to other routers. Consistent connection. Price.
Cons: Non -draft- N, but for what I have seen current -draft- N routers are not worth the price/performance ratio.
Other Thoughts: I have setup 4 of this model router in the past for various people and have never had any problems.

11 Minute Install
Pros: From grabbing a knife to open the shipping box to surfing on my laptop: 11 minutes (with pass phrase security enabled). yes, my buddy was timing me :D
The wizard makes the entire setup process fast and easy.
Cons: not green (too much wrapping).
Other Thoughts: Why do they ship a CD? Completely not needed. Just hit http://192.168.1.1 in your browser and the wizard will query you for everything it needs.

Great Item
Pros: Purchased this over a year ago, and love it. Very easy to setup, basically plug in the cd, and let it do its thing. Logging into the admin panel and setting up my specific network settings was very straightforward and easy.
Cons: No cons at all.
Other Thoughts: Again, have used this over a year, and it has never once dropped my wireless or wired connection. I have a PC (wired), PS3 (wired), Nintento Wii (Wireless), and laptop (wireless) connected and have never had a single problem with any one of them ever disconnecting or losing connections. I truly recommend buying this product as I've used other wireless routers and not a single one works as well as this one.

CHANGES SETTINGS ON ITS OWN
Pros: nothing extra special about this router
Cons: Two cons:
1) Most users will not be bothered by this, however, this router has a "FEATURE" that works like this: When the router notices that it's network settings conflict with another device such as with the gateway, it CHANGES it's own settings to not conflict. In my case, the router CHANGES it's IP to 10.0.0.1, despite the fact that I NEED my router to be set to 192.168.1.1... This happens ALMOST EVERY TIME I need to reboot my cable modem. Personally I need my router to use a specific IP range and netmask so that my Ethernet laser Printer's DHCP client will work... It is VERY CONFUSING and also VERY FRUSTRATING for a user who expects the router to be on one IP address but then the router goes and CHANGES it's IP automatically... I SET THE ROUTER'S SETTINGS HOW I WANTED THEM, BUT THIS ROUTER THINKS IT KNOWS BETTER THAN I DO HOW I WANT IT TO BE SET.
2) Also, the user forums at netgear have a really rude and condescending forum admin who barely speaks English.
Other Thoughts: so while I admit that most people will never be bothered by or notice the above quirk in the router's behavior, some users will find it to be a huge problem. Who knows how many networked devices out there will be confused and will not work on your network when it suddenly changes from a 192.168.xxx.xxx network to a 10.0.xxx.xxx network. The odd thing about this is that there is no IP address or netmask conflict between my router and my cable modem, but I think that what happens is that as my cable modem boots up, for a split second until the PPP comes up, the cable modem may actually conflict, then it changes it's IP to the correct IP.... so I recommend avoiding this router because technology that thinks that it is smarter than you are is always a pain in the end...

24/7 for over a year and still going strong
Pros: Low price, easy setup (including WPA security) and it simply works. Love the white design. Upgrading the firmware was a breeze.
Cons: None I could really think of.
Other Thoughts: I have Vonage, two laptops and a htpc connected to this router which has been running 24/7 for over a year now. The htpc regularly records up to 2 HDTV streams (16-20Mbps each) from a HDHomerun and it just struck me that the router has never once dropped a connection to any of the devices. I'm very impressed - that's why I came back to write this review.

Barely functional
Pros: Very inexpensive router with a decent base set of features. Able to do most basic tasks.
Cons: The router has a flood protection problem that causes a temporary lockout for your protection. Unfortunately using this with in-game server browsers to search for servers causes too many connections and the unit implodes for 30 seconds. Some people have even complained about exceedingly media rich sites like MySpace generate too many server connections and the router then goes belly up for 30 seconds during its protection shutdown. The router will come back to a responsive and functional state after this 30 second shutdown, but normally people will then try the same site again and get locked out repeatedly.
The wireless isn't anything to write home about either. The range on the unit is very weak. I have a PS3 and PSP I connect to the unit and throughput is roughly 1Mb at 15 feet.
Other Thoughts: For simple web browsing you may be ok with this, but I don't recommend this router to anyone.

Reliable Little Guy...
Pros: Reliable, stable, easy to configure, WPA1 & 2 support. I've had mine for 3 years, and it's never locked up on me unlike my Linksys. I like my Linksys routers too, but this is far more reliable.
Cons: Lack of higher-end features such as power output adjustment and MAC address filtering. Not typically something you worry about for a home network though.
Other Thoughts: Bought it at a yard sale for ten bones. Best money I ever spent for my network. I always purchase these routers for my customers when I install a home or office wireless network.

Nice Router
Pros: Great price! This router does a great job. Easy setup. I used it to split off from another small network. I did some special changes like NAT to keep things secure. Used it for a live web feed. Worked great!
Cons: Little Slow with the neatgear interface. Low on cache memory.

Pros: Bought this in May 2006 and it still works today. Have used it for multiple computers and Wii and handles everything fine.
Cons: Doesn't support wireless N (oh no!)
Other Thoughts: Good value, free shipping. Go for it

Good router
Pros: Security, Mac Address filtering, Web Browser, and Price. Not a big speed difference between Wired and Wirelss. On Wired I get 125kb/s and Wireless with a 20-30% Signal strength 115-120kb/s on a 1MB/s Line.
Cons: I don't know where to start with this router. I picked it up at b35tbuy for 40$. I guess you get what you pay for, It randomly reboots and the signal stinks. I have a 20-30% Signal strength on my gaming computer upstairs which is no more than 15-20 feet from this router.
Other Thoughts: Good router cant complain, Untill it stars rebooting like no other. Oh and you will only notice the rebooting on wireless devices. Wierd huh? Good router if you need a cheap one. Connected to it: Desktop Computer (Wired) Survalliance Computer (Wired) Xbox360 (Wired) Print Server (Wired) 2 Laptops

Great Router
Pros: Alright first of all I have never experienced my wireless router(s) dropping or restarting the connection. I have installed 3 of these, one for myself that connects my laptop wirelessly, my pc which is always on, and my xbox 360. I have had this for about 2 years. My other two that I have set up are at a friends house and they have no problems, a 2 pc's, xbox 360, and two laptops and several wifi devices (ds, psp), all work flawlessly, I set this up about 1 year ago. My other set up I just completed yesterday which is working perfectly fine. One pc and a couple of laptops wirelessly. My router reaches to my room which is about 30 feet away, threw a couple of walls too. I like the white design it's a really cute router. Also it comes with TWO antennas one external and one internal. 4 ports. Small, lightweight, versatile, and easy to clean.
Cons: I cannot really think of a con. The only time I had a problem was setting up my most recent network, when I would click apply on routerlogin.net it would erase the ip and cause it to disconnect, but its a simple fix, just don't press apply and press cancel.
Other Thoughts: If all the lights are green, stop the set up. If your going to listen to these other reviews giving it a harsh 1 egg, take with a LARGE grain of salt. I was frankly surprised at how many people have had problems with this great router. It is a great router for the price honestly I would say its the best bang for your buck. If you have extra money burning, just get a good linksys. Otherwise if you just want to use this wireless router for your laptops and other devices around the house, in the garage, or even in the backyard (wherever you may be thats in about 50 foot range of the router) then this is definitely a great buy. However, it is getting kind of old. I am just now recently upgrading my P4 2.66 ghz, 512 ram, to a computer I'm currently building with a Q9550, 4 gb ram, and a gtx 260 core 216. I think the new wireless routers are N? Might want to try that one if you have new tech stuff.

don't bother
Pros: Cheap, free shipping, easy to set up.
Cons: Died within a few months. I bought 4 of these identical units and 3 of them have died, and I expect the 4th one will too. I would RMA, but why would I want more of these? Seriously, avoid netgear! You have been warned.
Other Thoughts: I think Newegg should reconsider even carrying this brand.

Buggy netgear product
Pros: Aesthetically pleasing router. Simple straightforward configuration. Comes with WPA2 encryption.
Cons: A month after the purchase, it starts disconnecting (a.k.a rebooting) by itself every now and then. The reboots have been really bad tonight, which is why I am writing this.
Other Thoughts: Googling this router shows that many other users are having this problem with the router WGR614 rebooting itself automatically every now and then. This is really frustrating, and it appears NETGEAR has not found a solution to the hardware or software firmware. This is already version9 of the hardware release, and I don't know what software version it started off at. After so many version releases, you'd expect netgear to have fixed it, but no they haven't.
I hope the router doesn't reboot while I'm sending this review.

Good!
Pros: Haven't had any issues with the router since I bought and installed it. Doesn't drop connections and doesn't do anything that would be irritating.
Cons: The signal strength doesn't have that much transmitting power, so if there is more than a wall or two in the way and you exceed 15-20 feet in the house, expect signal to drop (sometimes like a rock). Shifting through the channels didn't seem to help much.
Other Thoughts: Good value for the money, by far. Doesn't have the bells and whistles as a more expensive router, but definitely not bad for Netgear.

Good so far
Pros: Looks nice, vertical or horizontal orientation, so far works like if my computer were plugged from the modem, the directions are simple
Cons: took a little bit to set up, but that was my fault.
Other Thoughts: read that this doesn't last long term, i got the 1 year protection so if this dies, should be no headache getting a new one/fix. I'm using this on 2 computers, 1 wired (pc) and one wireless (mac) both connect fine and have no problems yet. Will update if I have any problems.

Not So good
Pros: Easy User Interface, Auto Firmware updates
Cons: Wireless would not work reliably, signal was good, but all computers would stop at "aquiring network address" and then fail. All traffic went extremely slow (even wired) when this router was connected. Had to power cycle almost daily. Reset to factory defaults multiple times with no help.
Other Thoughts: Going back to a new Linksys that this router originally replaced

Works great
Pros: I use this in a strange application. I have a D-Link DGL-4100 as my main router and use this for a wireless access point for my Iphone and girlfriend's laptop. Works great as long as you understand how to work around the initial setup meant for amateurs. The manual won't tell you how to set this type of network up (it should)
Wan-DGL-4100-WGR614-Iphone -Laptop -Computer -Xbox 360
Cons: Range is ok for apartments, but seriously 30 ft away from the dang thing I should have a full signal.

decent
Pros: works great out of the box. has good firewall settings. can be used as a wireless repeater with other wgr614's.
Cons: i got version 9...but would love to put dd-wrt on this when it gets fine tuned because netgear cut the amount of RAM from 16 in version 8 to only 8 mb in v9...

Pros: Very EASY setup. Did not have to use disk. Given, there is no security at the moment but that will change. Looks nice. GREAT price and that made a difference. Small.

Easy, Painless, Hassle Free
Pros: Quick and painless install and setup Has not dropped the connection even one time Great signal strength and quality throughout not only our house but in houses even down the street Easy router interface to set up settings and controls Great quality router Good price and free shipping
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Originally bought the TRENDnet TEW-432BRP, but it was a piece of junk and dropped signals and restarted every minute or so. Tech support was nonexistant so i decided to go a step higher and go with NETGEAR and i am glad i did. Setup took 10 minutes, router interface is easy and painless to work with, and the connection is strong and has never dropped. Great router, great brand, worth the money.

Netgear WGR614 v7
Pros: Router covers the whole house. Signal drops off to fair at the opposite end of the house (approx. 60 ft.). Easy to set up and administer.
Cons: I've had the router for about a 1 yr. After about 8 mths. I started to experience significant signal drop. Ran scans with NetStumbler at random periods and found that the signal was dropping frequently. Drops did not seem to be associated with external interference (phone, etc...). Saw lots online from others having the same experience after the same amount of ownership time. Bummer, because I got this so the kids could access internet with PlayStation II and Wii, but their games keep getting interuoted from drops. Try another model or another brand.
Other Thoughts: Spend some more money and get a more consistent router. Unfortunately I've had Linksys before and was not impressed with them but got uninterrupted service.

Awesome
Pros: This router works extremely well. Firmware updates aren't buggy, signal strength is good, reliable connection that doesn't randomly disconnect. Router configuration is also very straightforward and easy to manage.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: My previous router was a D-Link that had constant problems and eventually broke entirely after I updated the firmware. Never buying another D-link product ever.

Overall nice router
Pros: * Easy setup * Price is right * Plays well with all my devices
Cons: * Limited range
Other Thoughts: Can't find too much to complain about with this router. I've had it for a month and it's been flawless. I live in a small duplex so this covers all of my place. I doubt this would cover a larger house.
Plays very nice with my PS3, AFAIK. I have had some problems getting online with TF2 but that might be an issue with the game or EA's servers
I'd recommend this product for anyone looking for a cheap, b/g router with decent range.

Pros: We switched from satelite to cable and ended up needing a router and the reviews wre pretty good. It was cheaper than some of the brands at wal-mart. It was also compatible with visita. Easy to install and it works great and is compact to sit upright and not take up any more room on desk.
Cons: Wish you could change user sign in but can change password.

Easy as Pie
Pros: I bought this router for my mother and have to say the setup was the easiest I've ever experienced in wireless networking. It basically does everything itself. Plug it in run the wizard and voila! I took her laptop around in her two-story house and got good to excellent signal strength everywhere in it.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I'm considering buying this router for myself and ditching my current d-link wireless router that routinely needs maintenance.

Decent, for a little guy
Pros: Small, easy to setup, CD for those who want it done for them, nice look to it. Installation was wicked easy; got it up and running with minutes. If you're familiar with the layout of the internal NetGear router website, then this is a piece of cake.
Cons: The plastic seems a little cheap and looks like it could easily break. Then again, how often are you going to be moving it?
Other Thoughts: This isn't a workhorse, but is perfect for an apartment or smaller house. The reception I get is just fine, but if you're trying to use this in an office environemnt, it better be a smaller office.

Pretty Good
Pros: Bought this for my brother and sister-in-laws. They wanted 2 laptops to be able to connect to the internet wirelessly. After a firmware update, this thing was very simple to set up and the wireless range was a little better than expected. They have a 2200 sq ft home (1 story) and can use their devices everywhere and even all the way to the back of their yard. Very nice.
Cons: none really, it does what it is supposed to do for the price. You should really check for firmware updates before use.

Solid as a rock
Pros: I've used this as my wired (for my personal PC) and wireless router for general roaming laptop use as well as for streaming videos through a modified Xbox to a 720p Hi Def Optoma projector throughout my 2 story house for several years. This is as solid and and dependable as it gets, with few reboots in that time, and those always have had the DSL Modem involved....which seems to be the primary culprit. I've upgraded the firmware a few times w/o problems. I've since added an Xbox 360 and another wireless desktop downstairs, the only limiting factors are my providers bandwidth. If anyone has experience using this with the various powerline networking products please share your experiences. Obviously your mileage will vary based on competing traffic in your area (if you're going wireless) as well as microwaves and cordless phones which may be on the same frequencies......Just take a break when you're nuking popcorn during movie time and enjoy!
Cons: automated emailed event logs were spotty....but then again I didn't need them..most likely a config error on my part so I just disabled that service (it's disabled by default)

Exceptionally stable. Virtually trouble-free.
Pros: It has everything a normal home user needs from a wireless router. It's virtually trouble free. It's easy to configure. Netgear has an excellent support page for it. Firmware updates are easy to get and easy to install.
Cons: 1) I can't force all the people I support to throw away their buggy routers and buy one of these.
2) At some point they're going to stop making these, and I'll have to try finding another home router that's as reliable as this one.
Other Thoughts: I'm a network administrator. My life was hell before I started recommending the WGR614 to the users I support. I was spending my evenings troubleshooting the various Linksys, D-Link, Siemens, etc. routers that my home users owned. Eventually I figured out that the users with the WGR614 weren't having router related problems, and started pushing all my users toward them. In the five years since I started recommending the WGR614 to all the users I support, it has proven to be virtually trouble-free. My dad's WGR614v3 wasn't rebooted for 3 years and he never had any trouble with it. I love the WGR614.

Excellent Product
Pros: I had this router for years and I just recently bought a second one for my mothers new netbook at her place. Great product I have dropped it down the stairs poured water on it and my dog has chewed on it. Shake it now and it rattles like mad, but still works like a pro. I download using it, watch videos and pretty much never had an issue with it, ever. Ubuntu picks it up nicely with no setup unlike xp. I can also pick up the signal with my laptop almost a mile away; inside a brick house.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: None

Nice Router
Pros: Nice, no problems so far. I have my laptop and my PS3 connected and works flawlessly
Cons: No so far
Other Thoughts: I did not buy this from NewEgg as I needed it in my hands fast. If not, as I almost always do, i would have made my purchase from the best....NewEgg!

Good stuff for simple use
Pros: I got this model about 3 years ago to mess around with wireless with a b class adapter on my daughters puter. It worked ok. Was kinda slow using b protocol. Read below for faster g.
Cons: Recently I needed to use wireless for internet surfing in another room, so just got an adapter b/g for small change from airlink, and plugged this router into my existing Linksys BSFR41 wired router from 2000, and it took off and started working with that b/g adapter in puter in another room 50 ft away.
I set a few settings like encrypt and firewall things that I did not fully understand but had good manual. This works great now for like 3 months now. I dont game with wireless, would try N or wired for that, I think.
Other Thoughts: I was impressed that different brands would work together by me just hooking this up to a spare port in a Linksys router, heh. The adapter was cheapo Airlink deal but works well.

Has a mind of its own
Pros: Relatively Inexpensive, good looks, small, nice little stand-up bracket.
Cons: Where do I start? I've owned it close to two years now. It worked fine for about a year. After that it started randomly dropping wireless connections. I have two desktops; one wired directly into the router via CAT5 cable, and another using wireless PCI NIC. I also have 4 laptops; all using wireless NICs. During the last 6-9 months wireless connectivity was getting less and less dependable. Frequent resets is the norm now. Just today, I have finaly downloaded latest firmware update from Netgear website. Before an update, as suggested by the support site I have saved all of my settings (which is signifivant amount of info) and reflashed the router. Following the restart procedure FROM THE SUPPORT PAGE!!!, tried to reload all of the settings from the previously saved file only to find out that all of them was factory settings, and none of my custom settings were saved. So I had to spend 45 minutes recreating what I had (thankfully, I was smart enough to make my own list of settings).
Other Thoughts: I have a degree in Networking technologies, and deal with networks every day. This router looks great when you are reading the specs and looking at the box. If you are basic user who just wants to get the thing working by leaving all of the default settings, you probably be ok with this router, at least for about a year. If you, however, like me, a medium to advanced user, and want to setup your network exactly as you want, and once setup, you expect it to work 24/7/365 the do yourself a favor and buy a Linksys, or even better, if youc afford it, a Cisco router.

Cheap and easy
Pros: This router sets up easily through web browser.
Cons: Had to go to wired connection for one of my computers
Other Thoughts: I have a PS3 and a Mac connected wirelessly with WPA2 authentication. Unfortunately, the configuration doesn't work with a newer Dell running XP that I have from work. I can see the wireless but the authentication fails and the wireless network disappears. Unsecured networks work. I just connected it via one of the ethernet ports. I'll deal with it another day.

Your Grandmother Could Set This Up!
Pros: My 70 year old grandmother set this up by herself. I was amazed at how well the setup CD worked. The install was so easy. It's not in a big house but the signal is 100% where it's being used and the coverage throughout the rest of the house is great. The form factor is small and the case has an "Apple" look to it, nice and clean. I gave this 5 stars because it did exactly what it was supposed to do, without any fuss.
Cons: None so far, other than old tech.
Other Thoughts: I don't know about any overheating or rebooting problems, it hasn't been up that long, but this seems to be a great router for someone that just needs basic wireless.

Good router for the price.
Pros: Although I'm not a professional IT tech I'm pretty computer savvy. This router was unbelievably easy to set up. I must say thought you must follow EXACTLY what the instructions say. Do not have power to the router first when you set it up!!! I think most people that have problems with this router don't follow the install instruction to the letter or have other issues with there PC. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE CD PROVIDED!!!!! I have had this router almost a month and have had NO issues! Range and speed is great!!! I use it every day and have never had to reset. I would say it's well worth the money. On another note, my aunt has had the same router for several months and has had no issues either. It works very well with her Ipod touch.
Cons: No problems yet. It has performed very well for me. Let's hope it stays that way.
Other Thoughts: I know that sometimes you can get a bad unit form just about everything. I did not buy this from newegg. I got it at Wal-Mart. Much easier to return an item like this if I got a bad one than to ship it back and wait for another. Although I will say I have bought many things from Newegg and I have always had great service.

The Best
Pros: I've purchased many WGR614 models, and they have never given me a problem. I use one at home, and have installed several in client's offices and homes. Setup is always painless and extremely simple. Signal strength and speed is right on target. Slim design and ample ports. Looks-wise, it's also very nice, and looks like an Apple product (a good thing). Plus, the price is hard to beat.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I have used these and other Netgear products for years with no complaints. A great buy.

Works well no complaints
Pros: No complaints. Couldn't get it to work with Ubuntu, so ended up using my roommates Mac to set it up. Took me 20 minutes to set up using the web based setup client. Set up WPA2 easily, always connects with no problem and haven't had to reset it yet. I often stream videos online and don't have a problem with that either, torrents work well too. All in all, a great buy.
Cons: None yet
Other Thoughts: Attractive casing. Good buy for basic home network for the price.

Look for another router
Pros: Cheap Clean-looking
Cons: Cheap Overheat Local DNS fails Frequent Reboots Required
Other Thoughts: I bought one of these for temporary use at work, seemed to work great. I bought another to replace my router at home. Then bought another for work. After less than a year, the local DNS function started to fail. I could still access anything on the net so long as I had the IP address, but could not type in the URL unless I pulled the plug for a minute or so. This reboot requirement became more frequent, between once a day and once every two days. I found a website stating this model overheats. I put a fan on it, but that only doubled the time between reboots. Since work was paying for my home office & related equipment, I swapped my home WGR614 with one that I had bought from work. Within a few months, same story. Tried the fan, similar results.
Tech support is overseas & they were completely worthless. Not that US support would be that much better, but maybe easier to understand.
Bottom line, do a bunch of research b4 buying. I like the Linksys WRT54G.

Don't buy NETGEAR
Pros: Small, great range. Cheap.
Cons: Stops working almost immediately. I had one that stopped working after two days of working. Started dropping the signal every 5-7 minutes. The second one started doing the same after 8HOURS. I literally set it up, went to work. Came back and it started acting up. DO NOT BUY!
Other Thoughts: The cd included didn't recognize I had an Ethernet port either, which is just plain dumb 'cause I'm on a hardwired desktop. So obviously I have internet through an Ethernet port.

Easy
Pros: This was one of the easiest things I've ever done. The cd that comes with it does everything for you. I bought this to hook up my wii and ds so far so good.
Cons: Nothing yet
Other Thoughts: I usually have my little bro come and do this stuff but I decided to try it myself, it went great.

Reliable, cheap, and it works!
Pros: 1. Cost: not too expensive for a name-brand router. 2. It works well. My iPod touch is quite fast and my computer(wired) is still getting my road runner broadband speeds. There are no slow-ups. 3. Appearance: small, white, and simple. Nothing fancy. The LED's of course show you Wifi, and which wired ports are connected, etc. 4. Reliability: In the few months that I've owned it, I've only had to restart it less than 5 times (which is probably caused by the wireless house phones running on 2.4ghz). 5. Efficiency: It doesn't get too hot and sits right on top of my nightstand. 6. Range: For a 2bi antennae, I've always maintained 3 bars on my iPod no matter where I am in the house. Even through walls, or living room, etc. Only drops to 2 when outside water my grass. 7. Firmware upgradeable.
Cons: It's not cheaper and they should make a black version.
Other Thoughts: Well worth the money I paid at Walmart (about 1 dollar difference than newegg, but hey, i didnt have to wait 3-5 days). Works well with iPod touch 32gb 1st Gen.

Still working Awesome
Pros: Easy setup, I have used this in my apt and now in my house, It works great, easy to install... as long as you follow the directions, good signal in a 2500 sqft house through walls.
Cons: None that I can think of.. as long as you FOLLOW the directions.
Other Thoughts: I have my ccna through cisco, I bought this instead of the "other" major brand which I used to have because newegg had a Super awesome deal on it and I have not been disapointed, I have purchased 4 of these for myself and friends and all are working great, I have only reset this 4 times in a year and a half because of an ISP issue (thinking it may have been the router).
