Rating + 3 Not so bad but then again....

Pros: I get good connection at good speed. but it took some work to get it running, i don't get drop connection,it work smooth and constant.

Cons: Win 7 64 users (like me) the drivers have a signature problem. I doubt netgear will ever sign them since it cost money to get them cross sing with Microsoft and this gear is too old to dump money on it. So you have two choices completely disable driver signature tool or sign them yourself using ms sdk and tell sdk to go on test mode that way you don't need ms to cross sign. Second after you get the card working don't let you pc guess anything, give your pc a static ip, tell it which ip is connecting to (give it your router ip), and specified dns server, you should have a strong steady connection.

Other Thoughts: This is not a plug-n-play gear with win 7 64, it requires some work. the are better options out there. but if you are stuck with it there ways to make it work efficiently.

Pros: Nicely packaged,

Cons: Does NOT work with Windows 7. No driver available.

Other Thoughts: The rating system would not allow me to rate it anything under 1 egg but frankly it doesnt deserve that.

Rating + 4 Wireless software sucks

Pros: It works...maintains a solid connection.

Cons: Installed the wireless software (came with disk...driver buried in there too); once complete an working I could not change the "fast user switching" option. Gave me an error that a recently installed program has caused this. The only evidence the computer could give was a DLL file. Some research later I figured out it was the wireless software. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled the wireless card.

Rating + 5 Good Wireless Card

Pros: Inexpensive way to eliminate cord clutter. Works out of the box on XP.

Cons: I thought this card was listed on the Windows 7 compatibility list as being compatible with Windows 7 64 bit edition. I checked back and it is no longer listed. Not Newegg's fault.

Other Thoughts: Does not work with Windows 7 64 bit.

Rating + 1 Complete JUNK!!!

Pros: Can get it installed in Vista and XP. Haven't tried 7, no point in it.

Cons: As others have said, very weak signal strength. Cannot connect if in another room and in the same room only 20 feet away it only gets very low connectivity.

Other Thoughts: It's not always the case, but this it's true, you get what you pay for. 5 eggs to Newegg for getting here on time. You guys still ROCK!

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Be advised that this will not work with Windows 7. I got Win7 to actually see the card and recognize it as a Netgear wireless card, but it would not initialize. Called Netgear and was informed by a nice gentleman from tech support that this card does not have support for Win7, only XP and Vista.

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this from Newegg, but I thought it would be helpful for others to have this information.

Rating + 3 doesn't work with windows 7

Pros: Once you get the drivers that work with windows 7 it is a great product.

Cons: no windows 7 support! Before I upgraded to windows 7 it was a piece of junk because it consistently lost the signal. I had to install marvell libertas drivers 1.0.0.53 to get it to work with windows 7 and that's with disabling the driver signature recognition program on start up. Now it works like a champ!

Rating + 1 Very disappointing.

Pros: Driver and Utility installed OK under XP SP3.

Cons: Agree with many other reviewers. Very poor receive sensitivity. Poor signal strength only feet away from access point, no matter how much antenna was adjusted. Would only achieve 1Mbps most of the time. Replaced card with a different make, and got full strength and speed.

Other Thoughts: Not cheap compared with the competition.

Pros: Easy to set up under Vistax64; I didn't have to install new drivers, and it gets a good signal signal and everything works fine, there. I've had it for about 2 months and it hasn't broke, yet.

Cons: If you're using XP, I would shy away from this adapter. I run a dual boot system, and under XP I had to install their drivers AND software, which disables the welcome screen login. Also, the signal I'm getting with their software stinks. When I boot up in XP with this card, I get all kinds of packet-loss, and the signal is always changing from strong to weak to none and back about every five seconds. It doesn't interrupt browsing or downloading too much, but it makes it tough to play an online FPS.

Other Thoughts: It's an inexpensive card, but in the end, I wish I had ponied up the extra cash and got something better, and with my experience with their software that you have to install in addition to the drivers under XP, I would just avoid anything like this.

Rating + 1 Just horrible.

Pros: Great, that it worked for a 3 weeks?

Cons: And then it doesn't work at all. I'm literally 7 ft away from my router (no walls), and can't play Wc. Just a pathetically weak adapter.

Other Thoughts: Just don't buy it.

Rating + 2 Works, but not good.

Pros: It works.

Cons: Signal is very weak compared to my laptop's wifi and is not even close to the EDIMAX EW-7128G I purchased a year ago.
Also, it does not with with windows 7 64-bit.

Other Thoughts: I wont buy from Netgear again. This card's performance isn't up to par with other brands. In addition, my parents used to own a Netgear Router and it is terrible. It always drops connections. After switching to Linksys, there have been far less issues. The only issues remaining are caused by ISP.

Rating + 1 Junk

Pros: Can't really think of any...

Cons: When it worked, it worked very poorly. Bad signal pickup, horrible drivers and awful Netgear support. Then it started shorting my motherboard. Suddenly the PC won't turn on or POST or anything. I try all the little "tricks", and when I disconnect this card, voila! it works again. Switch slots, doesn't boot. Put another card in the original slot, works fine. I put the card in another computer, no boot. I try another computer, POOF, sparks from the Mobo...not good.

Other Thoughts: If Newegg had a negative rating, this earns it after destroying a motherboard...good thing I was thinking of replacing the mobo for a better featured one anyways, just gave me an excuse.

Rating + 1 Don't buy from netgear or marvell.

Pros: I used to own an 802.11b router made by netgear. It worked well so I assumed this card would work well also. I used this with xp back when I had no security (open) and it worked ok but the range was substandard. When we switched to WPA and a nonbroadcasting router this card became intermittent. When I switched from xp to anything beyond it (vista, 7) the card ceased to function. It has been years and Netgear has failed to address the issue. Stay Away from netgear products

Cons: Spotty WPA support (you're lucky if it stays connected for 30 seconds)

Customer service attempts to blame the issues on microsoft

Finding drivers is a wild goose chase

Well below average range

Other Thoughts: Just don't buy it. Spare yourself the misery.

Buy anything other than this card I don't care what unless you find out it is based on a marvell chipset like this card.

Rating + 1 Worst PCI NiC on the market

Pros: If "cheap" is a pro...then this piece of junk has it.

Cons: Totally incorrect driver/software for this device. Windows XP rarely installs or boots this device up correctly, Vista (32-bit) couldn't even get the hardware (nor software for that matter) to fully install correctly. After what appeared to be a complete software installation, the hardware wouldn't load the correct driver OR couldn't get the device to start (Error Code 10). Even Netgear has issued a "recall" of sorts on this device - yet they refuse to RMA or refund any of the select problem serial numbers.

https://my.netgear.com/myNETGEAR/checkWG311v3.asp

Terrible support, for an even worse product. I have four of these bought in a bulk for a number of user-ready machines - what I have now are four useless paperweights.

Other Thoughts: Save yourself hours of headaches and problems, spend the extra money - and go Linksys or D-Link, I replaced mine with D-Link.

Pros: It does connect... well usually.

Cons: Slow slow slow. Tested 2 laptops in the same room as this desktop card on speedtest.net. The laptops averaged 5MB up / 6 MB down. The desktop got .9MB down and 1.1 up. (desktop is a quad core with 4 gigs of ram, vastly better than both laptops)

Other Thoughts: Avoid this card.

Rating + 1 Miserable Product

Pros: Works ok in XP 32 bit

Cons: Avoid this product, save yourself some hassle and buy a linksys product. Netgear is too cheap to develop drivers for the current operating systems, so the driver will only operate in XP/ Vista 32 bit. Through some pain staking tinkering I managed to get this device to work in Win 7 RC1 64 bit as long as I take out all but 2Gb of RAM in my system. I wish I could go back and save my time by just buying a linksys for 10 dollars more.

Pros: works well enough for me in a 32 bit OS

Cons: Does not work in a 64bit OS. No driver exists. If you want to use this card, you're stuck using a 32bit OS.

Other Thoughts: It automatically gets installed in XP, so don't bother with the driver CD. If you're using linux, you'll have to use ndiswrapper. It's not the most newbie friendly process, but in the end it will work. I'm using the card now in Ubuntu 32-bit Jaunty and it works perfectly fine. I need to upgrade to 64bit Jaunty to take full use if my RAM, but I can't unless I get a new wireless card. LAME.

Pros: None

Cons: Included software is complete junk and unneeded. I don't know the extent of the damage it does because I did a clean install of XP soon after installing it.

But the software is not the reason this card is junk. It seems its "tubes" overfill easily and causes it to disconnect constantly.

Other Thoughts: Pass on this card. There's no reason to waste any time or money on it. I should have done a bit of research instead of buying what was on the rack.

Rating + 1 Might work with XP, AVOID IF RUNNING VISTA

Pros: Probably will work okay with XP.

Cons: Practically worthless with Vista. No low profile PCI bracket included (MSI and D-Link include them with their cards). So if you mangle the full height bracket trying to get this thing in a low profile DELL case, don't plan on returning it when it doesn't work with Vista. I tried the latest Netgear drivers and the Marvell reference drivers. I had to downgrade the RAM from 3GB to 2GB just to get the drivers to install! Then the thing wouldn't recognize any nearby wireless networks.

Other Thoughts: Netgear shoot this old horse or make some Vista drivers that aren't garbage! I ordered an MSI wireless G card for half the price and was online five minutes after opening the box.

Pros: Hardware seems stable under windows XP network management and without the Netgear software.

Cons: Drivers and software stinks something terrible. Installed this about 3 years ago and had drop-off problems regularly from day 1. Tried everything using Netgear software; updated software and drivers from their web site, added external antennas, changed location, etc. Nothing helped. Finally got smart a few weeks ago and completely uninstalled Netgear software and configured card to let XP do all the work and the thing has been humming along wonderfully ever since.

Other Thoughts: The card seems stable without Netgear software. Their support also stinks. Every time I asked for help the only thing they would offer was to ask me to try their newest downloads.

Rating + 1 Unacceptable design

Pros: hmm....can't really think of any

Cons: It's overpriced for it's quality level.
It's poorly engineered.

Other Thoughts: Card installation under windows requires that the drivers be installed first - then the hardware - with a reboot in between..
Like many others, I was out of my usual card, and decided to give this a try.

Absolute rubbish.

Need to reinstall drivers?

Shut down and remove card.
Boot up and uninstall drivers.
Reboot.
Install drivers.
Reboot.

Maybe it will work at that point.

Welcome to 1995.

C'mon Netgear - every clueless moron in SE Asia has the ability to put out a card with the same chipset, same specs, and drivers that down require that you dance the Minuet while installing them.

I was about to pull the trigger on a couple grand worth of switches - still am - but they won't be this brand.

Rating + 5 great card

Pros: This is a great card. I have used them for many years and not had any problems. Netgear provides drivers that work under Windows 98, Windows XP and Vista.
for linux
wg311v1 works with madwifi under linux
wg311v2 uses acx100/acx111 firmware under kernel 2.6
wg311v3 needs ndiswraper under linux because of the marvell chipset

one of the computers I have the card in is 3 rooms away, under a desk and next to the wall, I have no connection problems.

Cons: it is a little over priced.

Other Thoughts: the oldest card I have (I have 4) is 6 years old and it still works great. never had any problems with any of them

Rating + 1 I can't express this enough

Pros: Gets you online wirelessly.

I managed to boost the signal a little bit by attaching a soda can to the antenna XD

Cons: Got this like 3 years ago. Always has a weak signal. Averages around 18 MB/S and usually has "very low" or "no signal" makes playing online with TF2 or other games difficult. When I'm not gaming I like to use Ubuntu and I had to go through total hax to get that to go online with this card, and I got some $15 card (Made by Edimax or something like that) for my 7 year old laptop running Ubuntu that usually has a perfect signal.

And NETGEAR could care less about their costumers. I got the Windows 7 beta and I went for support, and got "beta is beta we don't care until it's official". After long research I was able to find out to get Windows 7 online you need to open up the boot menu and "Disable driver signatures"(I think that's it)

Oh and the software it comes with is a piece of !@#$ too. It thinks crashing is fun :|

Other Thoughts: My card is actually a WG311V3 but it's close enough and I have very similar issues.

After bad mouthing the moderator on the NETGEAR forums I was banned. And Nvidia supported Win 7 right away so that was no hassle.

Started with a Belkin and it was a defective and Circuit City was out of that model at the time so out of frustration my dad grabbed this piece of junk.

Pros: It worked for about 6 months with no problems.

Cons: Crapped out after 6 months, keeps dropping my connection and then is unable to reconnect even thought the network signal is at full bars. All other wireless units work fine - this is the only one that is having problems. Just started happening after 6 months and is getting worse day by day.

Rating + 1 Not good at all, as seen by all the reviews!

Pros: I can't explain it, but it worked on my older computer for a long time, a few years in fact.

Cons: I have built 2 new computers in the last year, and this card loses connection every few minutes with both boards. The connection level has never been very good either, and I have always had my wireless router no more than 1 room away.

Other Thoughts: My wireless router is a Linksys WRT54G...a pretty good product. Have had no other issues with wireless peripherals (ie printer, Wii, Apple TV, other peoples laptops, etc). This card is just and overpriced piece of junk.

Pros: Use to work with Netgear router.

Cons: Moved into another house with a different brand router and had was physically connected to the router until now. I moved the computer into another room and tried to connect to the router. Nothing. Laptop works perfectly fine, but my desktop now has no connection. I uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Restart my computer, multiple times. Will connect, barely, with the included wireless network manager. Doesn't work at all when using Window's network manager.

Other Thoughts: I bought it from best buy about 6 or 7 months ago. I wonder if i can still return it.

Pros: Easy to install, easy to use.

Cons: the drivers replace your Remote Desktop Software, and when I tried to connect to the computer I received the following message: "You cannot not initiate a remote desktop connection because the windows login software has been replaced an incompatible software MrvGINA.dll"

Also, I get disconnected all the time, or maintain a low to limited connectivity.

Other Thoughts: I may not be a networking genius but I can assume it is not the routers fault considering my roommate across the hall, as well as the laptop in my room both receive a great connection speed.

Cons: Better not planning using anything 64 bit.

Pros: Installed without any problems on a new install of Vista 64 bit (I used the latest Netgear drivers; wasn't happy having to use the utility as well, but it works, and I'm not messin' with it).

Cons: Ran into a problem where it wouldn't connect, but that was STRICTLY on the router end. I have a WPN824 SuperG router, and as it turns out, it should have been in B&G mode. Instead, I had it to the default "AUTO" mode for 108 mbps. Also, I had the "Access Control" checked. After unchecking that, and changing the mode, I connected without a hitch.

Pros: when it's actually connected, works as it's supposed to.

Cons: i've tried moving this thing to different PCI slots, updating drivers and firmware, moving wireless router into the same room. i know some people might be a little skeptical that maybe some people just might not know what they're doing and thats why it's not working. but this thing is a total peice of junk, there are cheaper cards that will work far better then this. it will constantly disconnect and the only way to fix it is to manually go in and choose "Disconnect/Reconnect", even "Repair" doesn't work. trust me guys, you don't want this card... avoid at all costs.

Other Thoughts: last netgear product i ever buy.

Rating + 2 Never Reliable!

Pros: Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Cons: It never holds a connection for any reasonable length of time; forget about any downloads or file transfers succeeding! Signal strength is constantly all over the place, even with a direct LOS in the same room. So called "firmware" upgrades requires that you physically remove the card from the computer.

Other Thoughts: I thought I'd got a quality product when I first got this, what a joke! Replaced it with a ten dollar Airlink 101 adapter that never drops a link once its established. Don't waste you money on this junk, nor either its companion wireless router, the wgr614, which is equally bad even when it's only using wired connections.

Pros: It worked for well over a year, almost two even!

Cons: All of a sudden this card decides to stop working, and then works again several times in the span of a single second. I used to get full 11g out of this thing, but now dial-up seems like a better choice then this thing. Not going Netgear again.

Other Thoughts: There is another one in another computer that works fine, even though we got them at the same time. It rarely gets used, but I can't take it nor go hardwire. Looks like I'm in the market for another wireless NIC.....

Pros: Detected instantly in Vista Home Premium x64, no driver needed.

Cons: AWFUL reception. My wireless router (also a Netgear product) stands maybe 15' away from this network card. Other 802.11 devices, both laptops and desktops have no trouble receiving a strong signal. This adapter is barely able to connect at all, and has terrible signal strength when it does.

Cons: Vista 32-bit. Code 10. Device cannot start.
Of course, code 10 is like the "check engine" light on your car. "Something is wrong but we're not going to tell you exactly what it is that's wrong".
Vista drivers from the website (v3) would NOT load no matter what I tried.
Netgear, you have surely seen all the forums and negative feedback. FIX YOUR VISTA DRIVER PROBLEMS.

Other Thoughts: How can newegg even sell this without a disclaimer?
"Warning, does NOT work with Vista."

Pros: It works at a decent speed and strength with few drops, if you can manage to get it to stop crashing your PC.

Cons: Though the aligning of the planets five years ago we managed to get this to install and work on a dell. And it was good. Trying to put it on anything else? Unsigned driver, causes XP to freeze when installing drivers, complains about XP system files that are protected for a reason and if you allow it to touch them you'll be booting in safe mode looking for a restore point.

Other Thoughts: I've tried downloading drivers, taking the suggestion to load the drivers only from the CD via windows, installing the drivers using the CD, nothing has worked. Some people have had issues with it freezing after it has been installed, though I had no such problem, using windows to configure my wireless.

Pros: None. I could never get it working to try it out.

Cons: Does not work with Windows Vista 32-bit, even with the drivers downloaded from Netgear's site! What's worse is that the box has a sticker on the front indicating that the card works with Windows Vista!

Other Thoughts: I have built several system per year for the past 20 years or so. I started using wireless networking adapters almost as soon as they started being sold. This is the first time that I've purchased a wireless adapter that advertised itself as being able to work with Vista... and it didn't.

Pros: Umm... affordable?

Cons: 1) Pain in the rear-end software installation.
2) 54Mbps card only connects at 2Mbps
3) Changes windows XP login registry keys
4) Memory errors.
5) CD comes with drivers from 2005, despite being labeled as Vista compatible...LOL!

Other Thoughts: I have 4 other computers in my house that connect to my wireless router. All computers have 11b cards that connect @ 11Mbps. This card, despite being right next to the router, and despite having "excellent" signal strength, can only achieve 2Mbps. Which is actually SLOWER than my cable modem internet connection which gets 6.5Mbps! The actual bandwidth of the card is only 1.3Mbps... and this is a 54Mbps 11g compliant card??? I don't think so.

Rating + 1 Bad, drops connection

Pros: Range seems good. Picks up networks from across the street. Installing and uninstalling both the card and software is incredibly simple.

Cons: This thing drops the connection to the router all the time. This has happened to me on three different networks. I'm constantly trying to configure this thing so it'll hold the connection for more than an hour or two, but mostly to no avail. The problem is not distance; the card is physically separated from the router by about 10 feet, albeit with a floor in between. As previously stated, two other (non-Netgear) wireless cards use this network with almost zero problems. I also had gripes with the included software. It's confusing to use and it doesn't get out of the way if you want to use Windows instead. I got fed up with it interfering and uninstalled it, but uninstalling the software also uninstalls the drivers, which is ridiculous to me. And Netgear's customer support is definitely lacking. I sent them an email about my problem. They promised an answer in one business day and haven't replied over a week later.

Other Thoughts: After accidentally uninstalling the drivers, the computer wouldn't detect the card at all. This was fixed by putting the card into a different slot on the motherboard. This may be a card problem or a motherboard problem, I'm not sure, but maybe something to keep in mind. Also, the description claims speeds of 54 Mb/s connection speed, but the highest I've observed is 48Mb/s. This is still overkill for internet, but file transfers are just that much slower between computers in the network.

Rating + 4 Works Well Enough

Pros: The card works fine, in both XP Pro and Vista (I have a dual-boot setup). In fact, I have more problems in XP with this card than in Vista, maybe because I use XP more often. Signal strength is good going through a floor and I usually can connect to neighbors wireless connections as well (if I ever wanted to). Setup was painless and only takes up a single PCI-E slot. Worth the money considering how much I use the thing (everyday, sometimes on over night as well).

Cons: The software interface is a little confusing and unnecessary. It will occasionally crash on you for no real reason. There were a few times where it would not acquire any signal at all even though it had seen a signal the previous reboot. This doesn't happen for long.

Other Thoughts: I also have a Netgear wireless router connected to my cable box which might be why I'm having an easier time than some. Netgear products like to work together. It isn't the best product but it's what I got and it's no way near worth it to replace it.

Rating + 2 Use Vista? Don't use this card then

Pros: Maintained a decent connection to my wireless router, which was downstairs and across the house....When I could get it running.

Cons: Does NOT work with Vista. Every time I installed it, I'd get an "error 10, this device cannot start".

After hours of taking the card out and putting it back in, as well as cursing at my computer, I read on several online forums that Netgear's Vista drivers don't work.

I finally got it running when I installed Windows XP drivers, but it worked for about six hours before stopping again.

Other Thoughts: Might be a good adapter on Windows XP, but don't bother if you're using Vista.

Rating + 1 GETNEAR

Pros: Maintains a wireless conection

Cons: GETNEAR really lives up to its new wireless name. Because you better be really close to even be able to maintain a wireless connection. So close, in fact, that you are actually better off spending the 9.99 for a 'wired' adapter and just pluging into your router directly. Really not worth the money. Actually hands down the worst product Ive ever bought. Ever.

Other Thoughts: If you waste your money buying this adapter after reading these reviews you should have your head examined. GETNEAR has outdone itself with the total lack of quality and performance in this product. The earlier post on how its emploees shoud be made to use the adapter while appriate, would be extreme and harsh punishment. It would case the company to grind to a halt. I do have a netgear router that does work fantastically.

Cons: I can't seem to be stabilized at 11Mbps. I will get there for a few minutes and then go back down to 2Mbps for a good month or so. Really frustrating, since my cheap laptop can do it fine and my lean and mean gaming machine can't.

Cons: If I knew where I kept the retail box for this piece of junk, I would definitely return it! Worst than any other brand I have used. Total waste of time to setup and trying to find signal. My Dell laptop next to me gets "excellent" signal strength while this piece of junk always get "very low".

Pros: Can't think of any.

Cons: Where to begin..
Mrvgina.dll the program that forces you to use "classic" log in, don't even know why it's there deleted it with no problems. Slow, signal disintegrates after about 10 minutes of use. Expensive compared to other, better cards. Horrendous drivers and you can't even get rid of the app that comes with it, which is even worse than the drivers. No 64-bit Vista support. If you're still reading don't. Bottom line, don't get this card it's a waste of your time and money.

Rating + 1 Card drops signal too much. Buyer Beware.

Pros: Good documentation. Website was informative.

Cons: It drops the signal all the time. You might be able to get a better signal with an antenna extension.

The antenna also broke. This might have been my fault, I'm not sure. The little twisty piece that screws tight to the computer broke off. It is now unusable. The poor signal probably lead me to take it off and on while troubleshooting and thus it broke from wear and tear.

The software that manages the card is also clunky. I just let Windows XP manage the card.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this card. I recently gave up on this card and had to get a new one because of unreliable performance.

Pros: Cheap, easy user interface, takes up very little system resources

Cons: Practically worthless card. Signal begins to fade about ten feet from router; don't even think about different floors. Worked magnificently... for about a week. Now, the card freezes at LEAST twice a day, with no option to fix other than restarting. Pre-patch drivers force a "logon" screen in XP. I'm returning it as soon as I can buy a new adapter.

Other Thoughts: I'm really not sure what possible setup this would be an acceptable card for, save a computer you turn on to check e-mail for about 5 minutes and then turn off. Might work better on a pre-XP-SP2 system... lord knows I'm not wasting my time testing that.

Pros: Slightly fast when it works. Okay user interface.

Cons: It works real nice for the first couple of weeks, then it gradually becomes less and less effective. I was only 15ft away from the router with this thing, and I got disconnected a lot. When I didn't get disconnected, it would be super slow, working at very low, or low if I was lucky. I know it wasn't the router, because other computers in my house were getting a substantial signal. This was surprising to me since NETGEAR holds a pretty good name

Pros: When it works it trully works...that's about it unfortunately.

Cons: I would have to say that this little card has caused more headaches than solutions. For some reason it randomly decides to stop working and I'm left with no other option but to restart my computer. On the average this happens around once every two weeks, maybe more. I would definitely try to stay away from this card at all cost if you can. I was dumbfounded by the'brand name' that netgear carries but found that it really doesn't cut it. Pros: well, it worked, for like... a week, maybe two.

Cons: where to begin? you can't use them in linux without ndis wrapper, which is a problem because i don't know how to use ndis wrapper and wasn't going to get a copy of windows for a couple weeks after buying it. so, i finally do get windows. it works! works about as well as i was expecting it too, except... it stopped. after about two weeks it was dead. i thought at first it might be my router, which is a cheap netgear wireless g router, especially since other devices were having trouble connecting, but my xbox 360 was using the network just fine. recently, though, i borrowed my friend's rangemax router, brand new, and the darn thing still won't establish a full connection. so, basically, this thing is now useless to me. ah well.

Rating + 1 wasn't worth mentioning my sad story to friends.

Pros: it goes online the most for 5 minutes. the speed seems great. too bad the enjoyment is VERY short-lived.

Cons: first off, the software included is beyond horrible. i think just looking at the "connected to router" status was irritating enough knowing it can't keep a connection to the internet. the range is ridiculously horrid, frail in comparison to my internal laptop WNIC (atheros chipset.) the signal speed drops from the 54mbps bracket to below 11mbps by itself, till it ceases functioning and requires a reboot. Also, the MrvGINA.DLL file installed in your system32 folder locks your user logon i-face, so I'm done with Marvell chipsets for good.

Other Thoughts: NetGear makes great routers. for cards, look elsewhere. if you're going for a wireless card, have a nice budget aside for it because with cheaper cards, what its worth is what you get. I've had worse wireless adapters that don't function period, but never getting this to function properly was more aggravating, and I'm stuck with it. Looking at the previous reviews, this card worked a long time ago to most buyers, but i think it became outdated till it ceased to function in today's present. not worth the buy, cheap products are exactly what you get. I expected better from NetGear.

My box that has the v3 is behind several walls (one appears to be concrete) and the connection is hit or miss. I've recently replaced the wireless connection with a wired one, which resolved my problem.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad card overall. The price is reasonable and you get what you pay for. Just don't expect wireless miracles.

Pros: Works somewhat after installation.

Cons: Was diffucult to install(code 10 error)..so I had to download new driver and switch slots (IRQ problem). Connection is there after tuning on computer, but then disappears within one hour, and will not come back 'till reboot.

Other Thoughts: I will never again buy from Netgear.

Pros: good signal when there is one

Cons: for starters the drivers that come with the card are bad it kept restarting my computer so i downloaded the newer drivers off another computer and put them on a floppy and install them on my computer. ok so now (after messing with the software for hours) it looks like its working great, i got an exellent signal at 54Mbps and then...it's gone, ya great then gone. it will work fine for about 5 minutes and then the signal will drop to nothing for several hours with no explanation from netgear.
save yourself some serious frustration and don't buy this

Rating + 5 AWESOME FOR PRICE!!!

Pros: Awesome.. MUST BUY!!!

Cons: nothing

Other Thoughts: Great for the price. You really can't beat it. In a regular home networking house with about set a tower up about 30 feet away from the router. Full Excellent Signal.. Must buy don't pay the extra this one is worth it. Pair it up with a netgear router. Can't go wrong.

Pros: Extremely easy set up, connected in less than 3 minutes.

Cons: Very poor signal strength. Bought this card becuase my old Xterasys was causing computer problems... but man, the signal strength went from "excellent" to "no signal"...

Other Thoughts: Not worth the money. Sorry Netgear, but definately not your best work.

Rating + 4 Good stuff...

Pros: It gets good signal... just have to point the antenna the right way. But ya, usually never drps, I think Ive had like 2 in about 5 months. Just download the latests drivers from the Netgear site.

Cons: Dont use the Wireless Network Application that came with this... use Windows Zero Configuration for it. :)
