Works fine
Pros: Inexpensive, small profile, and attractive case. I have a small wired network in my house that I use for my home based small business. I needed a second switch to connect a cluster of devices on the far end of my house. This unit did the job and 5 ports was all I needed.
Cons: The device is perfect. However, the mail in rebate experience is exceptionally tedious. First, log into a website and register the rebate. Second, cut out a piece of the box and mail it to a rebate center. Third, wait and check the website, wait more and check the website, wait even more and check the website. Rebate finally authorized, but, er ..., now I have to wait for them to mail me a plastic debit card. Fourth, wait for card and check usps mailbox, keep checking, then keep checking, and then keep checking. Plastic debit card arrives, great, er ..., I order a burger with it and the clerk looks oddly at the card with a "what the heck is this?" kind of stare. "How much is on the card?", she asked. How do I know? I mailed in the rebate 50 days ago. I go home, log into the rebate site, find out how much is on the card, and finally order my burger. This is an awful lot of work to essentially get a free hamburger. This rebate procedure is horrible.

works as advertised
Pros: Small AC adapter, all of the ports are working. As easy as hooking up a Cat6 patch cable to my intel gigabit card and now I'm sailing at gigabit-ish speeds. Your results may vary according to what cabling you're using and the top throughput from your server.
Cons: i didn't read the manual so i didn't realize at first that amber status lights just signify a 100mbps connection; i thought there was some kind of error (green = gigabit).
Other Thoughts: Removes one bottleneck in my network.

What a great little switch
Pros: Love this thing, have one at home and a bunch at work, they get put through hell - used in a lab and out in the field so they get thrown in cases full of random stuff with no padding, dropped, water splashed on them, haven't had one fail yet.
Cons: None.

Rebate Form
Pros: thing works
Cons: need form for rebate
Other Thoughts: I ordered because of the rebate. Netgear 'says' I need to get form from NewEgg.
Where is my form.

Love this switch!!!
Pros: Needed several in my home network to split work and the various family members. Never needed to restart it and it's been running for over a year like a champ. I will be buying 2 more, one for me and one for my married kids for a Christmas present. Strongly recommend...
Cons: None so far...
Other Thoughts: Price to performance is a great deal.

reliable ...so far
Pros: 3 months and still working, never had to reset/recycle power yet. I have heavy traffic through it alot, like HD video streaming from one PC storage to another. Like the green is gigabit orange is megabit identification. So I know it's working.
Cons: very light, cables behind it drags it off my table. Put something heavy on top to stable it.
There should be a product that's similar to paper weight, called switch weight.
Other Thoughts: I regret not getting the version with more ports, 5 is just not enough anymore!

Junk
Pros: It does work at 100 mbps speeds
Cons: After a week, only 2 ports still work at 1000 mbs; don't waste your money. Runs hot hot hot!
Other Thoughts: Try a different brand, this is complete junk

Excellent price, fine entry level switch
Pros: Excellent pricepoint for gigabit performance
Cons: Runs a bit warm. I have it vertically oriented as I was concerned over stacking it near anything else horizontally. Additionally, with most machines gigabit capable I seldom connect at gigabit speeds; it seems very sensitive to the cabling you use. Some short cables rated at CAT6 do not handshake at 1Gbit, while others do. Running at 100 just doesn't cut it for me, hence the purchase and subsequent frustration,
Other Thoughts: Can sustain up to 90MB/sec transfers with two WD Black Edition drives on separate machines when gigabit connected. Awesome.

Netgear doesn't issue rebate checks
Pros: Switch works fine
Cons: Netgear sends rebate as a Credit Card instead of a check. Major pain.
Other Thoughts: Automatic 1 egg for any company that sends me a gift credit card as a rebate instead of a check

netgear gigabit switch
Pros: very quick assembly and virtually no "initial setup" to wait for after plugging in ethernet. You don't have to use the stand clips if you don't want to.
Its also really shiny :D
Cons: none unless you don't like shiny.
Other Thoughts: would be nice to have an indicator for whether the incoming line is getting 100mB/s or even full gigabit. but I digress.

Dead after 15 months
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Died after ~15 months, out of warranty. Didn't outright fail either, just intermittently slowed down connections. Wasted about 5 hours troubleshooting to find this bugger :(
Other Thoughts: Get something else.

Love It
Pros: Good price. Good quality. Reliable. Looks nice on the desk. Clearly shows if Gb or 10/100 is in use through LED color.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: A great replacement to a Linksys/Cisco almost brand new faulty switch.

Xbox friendly?
Pros: It's a switch. It does what it's supposed to do.
Cons: Drops Xbox LIVE connection at random. Drops Steam connection as well. (though not as often as Xbox) When there's no activity on the ports, it's supposed to automatically turn them off to save power. However no matter what I do, I can't restore those ports without unplugging the switch itself.(This is after hours of no usage. If I do it right away, it works fine)
Other Thoughts: I called Netgear to see if anything like this has happened like this before. They said they have no record of it in the past. They also said there is no troubleshooting guide available for this switch.(They just try to see if the rest of your setup is correct)I'm going to RMA this unit and hope that the next is OK. If not, I'll be looking for one from another manufacturer. On a side note, they also said there may be compatibility issues between the Xbox and the switch. I found this kind of funny because there's actually a picture of an Xbox 360 on the instruction sheet! Setup: Verizon Router->Switch->PC, Xbox 360 All systems on the network have static IPs.

macbook unibody
Pros: I have owned this switch since October 2005. I it still runs great.
Cons: Bought a new unibody Apple Macbook with gigabit ethernet. Even with a CAT6 cable (also tried CAT5, CAT5e), the macbook refuses to link up at 1000Mbps. I even tried forcing the connection via System Preferences, but the link it just drop, re-connect, drop, re-connect in a forever loop.

Doesn't work with Uverse muticast video on the same network
Pros: inexpensive, gigabit
Cons: As soon as multicast video data is sent over the local ethernet network from the Uverse Gateway to the Uverse STB if this switch is on the network it will get flooded and all traffic is affected. As soon as the tv was on or the dvr recording I would loose my wireless access point and the tv picture would freeze up and get choppy. I researched this and found it is a known issue and only a few switches work well with Uverse multicast video, such as, the blue metal Netgear switches, especially the 8-port gigabit one with a larger buffer. I tried to go cheap this time and it didn't work out. I have an 8-port blue one and it works fine with the multicast. Or just plug the Uverse STB directly into the Uverse Residential Gateway, which also handles the multicast well.

My fourth GS605
Pros: These switches perform as expected. I just purchased my fourth one for the office, and haven't had any issues with them at all. Coming up on two years now, I believe. Install and forget, just like I like them.
Cons: Ugly. Bright white sticks out like a sore thumb with our decor.
Other Thoughts: I haven't encountered any of the issues that others have been describing with any of my GS605s. I am pleased with their performance. Maintenance man-hours since install on all have been 0.

Great Switch
Pros: Great switch, easy to open packaging and box, but keeps the switch safe at the same time. Worked right out of the box plugged in my Ethernet from my router plugged in my 360 and pc both worked instantly
Cons: Haven't yet gotten the 10 dollar card, but I only received the switch a day ago, so hopefully it will come.

Decent switch, but not a long term purchase
Pros: Decent switch at a reasonable price. I have it four stars because it worked well for two years without any problems.
Cons: After two years I started getting the same problem that others have listed where the the switch had to be "rebooted" At first it was about once a week but once it started happening daily I purchased a new switch.

Great - when it works
Pros: Good switching speed.
Cons: Operation is intermittent. It periodically disconnects some or all of the network drives connected to it. (Cables check and power quality is good. Thermals are good, environment is cool.) I will replace it with a reliable D-Link switch.
Other Thoughts: Netgear has lost me as a customer for any equipment.

Died right after warranty
Pros: Cheap, small, fast
Cons: My unit was function very well until the 2 year mark and started to need to be reset. At first it was eery few days and now its every few hours. I bought two of these and the other is working fine. I will be contacting NetGear support and hope they swap it under warranty despite the warranty expiring 7 days ago.

poor support
Pros: small and cheap
Cons: after almost a year I got tired of intermittent disconnects or 100mb/s rather than gb connections. With multiple PC's and cables giving the same symptoms on this switch, and not on a similar Netgear router, it seemed pretty clear this was a warranty replacement issue. NetGear could not understand that logic.
I have heard that my v2 unit has been updated with a newer version, but don't know if that fixed the disconnects. Sounds though like Netgear should just replace all older units with new ones for this rather widely reported symptom though.

I'm a moron
Pros: 'm a moron who was to laze to wire all 8 pins on my Cat 5e Network cable. You need quality Cat 5e cable or Cat 6 with all 8 pins wired.
Cons: I'm a moron who was to laze to wire all 8 pins on my Cat 5e Network cable. You need quality Cat 5e cable or Cat 6 with all 8 pins wired.
Other Thoughts: You are not limited by the slowest network appliance on your network, and it took me a 2nd computer to realize it. (Green light = 1Gb/s, Yellow/Orange light = 100 Mbs/)

Holds UP
Pros: 5-port, Gigabyte ethernet switch, small, cool, great stand design
Cons: When stacking network appliances, (Switches, routers, hubs) you only get as fast as the slowest device. Ex this switch and a 10/100 router will only reach 100MB/s
Other Thoughts: Reallly GReat, I wired my whole home with this.

it works
Pros: Auto sensing 5 port switch that can almost fit anywhere. I found the included stand very useful can be attached in different ways then intended to make the unit stand both short edge down or long edge down.
Cons: Got this thinking I was having network slowdown due to am older 100mb switch. So I upgraded the switch to this thinking I would get GB speed (both computers hooked to it have GB cards). Still only get 100mb connection to this unit. So I saw no change in network speed.
Other Thoughts: I like the design and would by more of these if I needed them.

good home switch
Pros: preforms as expected as a sub $50 consumer grade switch. Jumbo frames are handled appropriately. using as a workgroup switch within cisco environment set at mtu 5216 bytes.
Cons: hot hot hot! I would not run this at full capacity with out external cooling.
Other Thoughts: consumer grade switch.. do not expect more

Stay completely away
Pros: Product contains plenty of ports.
Cons: As mentioned this product gets hot. Even sitting in a 75 degree room on top of a 8 inch fan, this item will shut itself down / fail multiple times a day EVEN IF ALL CONNECTED SYSTEMS ARE OFF. I created a trouble ticket at netgear and the response was for me to move the device to a different out let preferably on a different breaker. Most of us are not willing to reroute an entire network for a $40 switch. I have multiple net admin degrees/certs and have worked with 3 phase wire installations for years.
I will never buy or recommend to any of my clients on any continent we service any netgear product ever again.
The switch is bad enough, but the inexcusable response from their tech support is even worse.

Jumbo Frames Switch
Pros: Jumbo framing is super fast!!! Can't go wrong for under $50.00
Cons: The switch gets really hot if all ports are in use. The design of this switch causes it to easily fall over if all ports are in use. In order to take full advantage of 1000Mbps and jumbo framing of this switch you will need a 1000Mbps NIC in every device as well as cat5e cable.
Other Thoughts: Cheapest Jumbo Frame switch period.

Inital Review
Pros: 5 port Gig SWITCH!! Small, much smaller then i thought. Which is good in my book
Cons: Color scheme. (this is why i am not taking any egg's away). I just wish they offered this in more colors
Other Thoughts: I have the WNR854t router. I also have the 8 port gig switch in my main room (with router). I ran a data cable over to my laundry room/work room. Now I have my work room running on a gig network. I have had my 8 port switch for over a year now with no problems so I decided to get his little brother

Worked great in Data Center
Pros: Inexpensive and works fine with jumbo frames. I used one of these to connect a database server and a web servers in a DC. They were under pretty heavy load, but the switch never had any trouble. Also had one between the servers and the uplink to the DC, which also worked fine. The two servers used 1GB connections and the DC's uplink was 100MB.
Cons: Not a metal enclosure.
Other Thoughts: For the money, I would totally recommend these.

Pros: great budget gigaswitch
Cons: plastic case, made in china
Other Thoughts: own a few of these without any problems yet.
had problems using the mail in rebate associated with this unit, the rebate company tried to say I failed to send in the serial number... lucky for me I made copies of everything before I sent them off, wouldn't surprise me if they try to auto deny everyone at first to save money. after speaking with them several times, they magically found my originals.

Cheap, Fast, Cool, Reliable
Pros: This is a great performing little unit for the price. I've had mine on for over a month with 4 gigabit connections that have a good amount of activity and not a hiccup we've seen yet. It also runs pretty darn cool for its size and speed. 5 full-speed ports that can be used all together at full speed.
Cons: The speed indicators only show 1Gbps or not 1Gbps, so there's no way to tell between a 10Mbps or 100Mbps connection. Lightweight design so having 5 cables in it can make it unbalanced from the weight of wires hanging over the edge of a desk.
Other Thoughts: There's a vertical stand for it that I never used, but I would imagine the balance con would be worse if it was vertical. Mine came with a sideways power adapter which allows to be plugged in to a power strip and not take more than on plug instead of those giant adapters my old netgear router has, so that's a plus.

Look for another model or brand
Pros: Low(er) cost. Fast, when it works. Small and cute.
Cons: Runs very warm. Often has a tendency to not work.
Other Thoughts: This is the second GS605 I've had. The first one stopped working after two weeks of use - power light on, all connection lights dark. I went through the Netgear RMA process and, after 1-2 weeks, got a brand new one as a replacement. The new one had the same problems after 3 days of activity.
I would spend an extra $5-10 to get a different brand - which I did, even before I got the replacement.

Cute little switch
Pros: It Works.
Cons: Wish I got the metal cased GS105. I have owned one for over a year and it works perfect.
Other Thoughts: Spend the extra 7 dollars and get the GS105.

Died quickly
Pros: Worked for a while.
When it died, it died completely, which is *way* better than hubs that go flaky and take down your entire network.
Cons: Died after just a few months.

Usually works
Pros: It's low cost, and can push data fast for a low cost switch.
Cons: Out of the two I got, one drops down to 100mb/s about every two weeks. I have to power cycle it to get 1gb/s back.
Other Thoughts: I need a third switch, but will probably try a different brand.

Works Great
Pros: I have 3 full size computers with Gigabit NICs and a 1TB NAS with Gigabit NIC all plugged into this using Jumbo Frame support. Everything works perfectly. It replaced an older version that the power supply died. At around $20 after rebate it was a no-brainer to upgrade to the newer version with Jumbo Frame support.
Cons: Not as tall as the Netgear A/B/G WiFi Router and the Netgear B/G WiFi Printer Server it's sitting next to. At least it matches the color. :-)

Works Great
Pros: Plugged it in and it just works. I haven't had any trouble with it all over the past month that I've had it. Love the duel colored LEDs in the front( Green for 1000Mbps and Amber for 100Mbps ) that tell me the link speed.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Another solid netgear product

Gets the job done
Pros: I have a couple of these throughout the house and they work great. Good economical way to upgrade to Gigabit Ethernet for your SOHO.
Cons: Only 5 ports, that's reflected in the price however.

Quick and Stable
Pros: Small, Gigabit, Inexpensive, Matches the cases and colouring of other Netgear products, amber/green LEDs that tell you if each connection is 10/100 or 1000Mbit.
Cons: Runs very, very hot
Other Thoughts: This a a good little switch. It does what it is supposed to do and nothing more. It does get quite warm when plugged in, but so long as it's not covered or in the middle of a stack of things, it doesn't get alarmingly hot. The heat hasn't caused any problems, so I'm assuming that it's within spec.

Jumbo Frames?
Pros: Gigabit and it works kind of.
Cons: I had been trying for quite some time to get Jumbo Frames working with both Linux and Win and couldn't get a packet larger then 1512 to get past the switch so I asked NETGEAR what the problem was and that is what I got. Beware it doesn't have Jumbo Frames. It might also be causing packet loss in games after it warms up some too.
Other Thoughts: From NETGEAR themselves Unfortunately the GS605 does not have a Jumbo Frame option although here is a list of our switches that has a Jumbo Frame feature:

Works Fine...Until It Doesn't
Pros: Like the title says...works great until it doesn't. And my experience is that it won't work before long.
Cons: I purchased three of these units about 18 months ago. Almost immediately, one of them dropped dead. Power-cycling the router would get it working for a few hours or maybe a few days before the problem repeated. A couple of months later, another one exhibited the same problem; eventually, both became totally unresponsive, even after power-cycling them.
Other Thoughts: I am about to replace all three units, since it's safe to assume that I can't trust the remaining unit to keep working. I didn't go to Netgear for service/replacement since dealing with that process for units that cost me$30-$40 new simply isn't worth my time.
The bottom line: I can't recommend this unit, nor will I trust any other Netgear consumer-line products as a result of my experience. I have a Netgear FVS114 firewall (from their business line -- i.e. the blue-case gear) that works perfectly, so I will continue to use/recommend Netgear's business-class equipment.

Stay Away from NetGear
Pros: None - None - None - None - None - None - None - None
Cons: I purchased the NetGear GS605 & GS108 all within two days of each other in February 2007. The GS605 has proven to be unreliable. After reviewing the comments that have been posted since my purchase last year. I am tell folks to "STAY AWAY FROM NETGEAR" I have been on hold with their "Customer No Service Twice In the Last Two Days" and they are giving me a VERY hard time about getting a replacement unit. I asked to replace this unit with a GS108 and Netgear wants me to pay $17.00 in shipping costs. I am now waiting for a call back from the "other" Customer No Service Desk @ Netgear. I am not going to accept the same model of switch it is not going to happen.
Other Thoughts: I have my Netgear switches tied to my Netgear RangeMax NEXT Wireless Router Gigabit Edition (WNR854T100NAS). Their is a patten here. My have spent countly hours rebooting my Netgear Router to reset my VOIP Vonage phone adapter to get it to reconnect. So I am telling everyone to stay away from Netgear "Totally Not Pleased Customer" - NewEgg should consider dropping this product line.....

It's a running theme, died in a year.
Pros: Connections so fast you're limited by harddrive speed, looks nice, can be mounted vertical or horizontal, in general good product...
Cons: ...but it seems as though they break in under a year. A very common theme here, but why do people give it any stars at all? What good is a networking product that does not last longer than a year?
Other Thoughts: Avoid this. It's fantastic while it works, but once it's broke it's broke!

Pros: none
Cons: I was shipped a V2 which is smaller than my older GS605 which has no version number.
I have had no problems with my older GS605.
The V2 would not reliably negotiate the links as 1G when the GS605 was powered on 1st and the PCs powered on second. This is important because the switch normally stays powered on.
I tested by replacing my old GS605 with the new GS605 V2 in my current network. When 1G links came up as 10/100Mb, pulling the power connector and plugging it back in would cause the 1G links to correctly come up 1G. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the RJ-45s would also correct the speed to 1G. The other end of the link were 2 Marvell Yukon 88E8001 on ASUS motherboards and 1 Intel Pro 1000 in an IBM ThinkPad. I think the Intel Pro 1000 link always came up 1G but I cannot remember for sure.
2 ports were 10/100 to my router and a 10/100 switch; this is only to indicate that there was a mix of 1G and 10/100 connections to the 5 ports on the GS605 V2.
Other Thoughts: The NewEgg RMA process seems to work smoothly.

Broke in 11 Months
Pros: Low cost GB Switch. Easy to install and use.
Cons: Broke after 11 months of use. Flashed "Network Cable unplugged" and then "connected" on all attached computers about every 5 seconds. When removed this switch, theis problem stipped.
Other Thoughts: Also, instructions that came with the switch DO NOT indicate what the "Yellow" and "Green" port number lights mean. I was able to tell from the PCs connected that "Green" means connected at 1GB, and "Yellow" means connected at 100MB. This should be in the Instructions or Technical Specifications.

Drops Gb to 100Mb
Pros: It's shiney
Cons: It's too light for a door stop. As others have noted, continually drops Gb connection to 100Mb speed after a week or so. The only way to reliably get Gb back is to pull the power plug on the switch.
Other Thoughts: Spent several months pulling my hair to figure out why the speed kept dropping, replaced the wire in the walls, the patch cords, the connectors/keystones, and everything possible trying to get it to maintain Gb speeds, which has cost me plenty of $$$, time, agrivation, and hair. Eventually the switch was all that was left, and golly wouldn't you know (who'd have ever thought...). It will be retired soon.

DO NOT BUY
Pros: Design, gigabit, price
Cons: Stopped working in less than six months.
Other Thoughts: Stay away for netgear products - i've purcahsed six over the last few years and ALL of them burned out in less than a year. Repairs? Good luck - they don't make that easy at all.

Pros: Very continent and useful, suited my needs for a Gigabit switch perfectly! Indicator lights on front show what is connected, which speed, and transfer rate perfectly.
Cons: If I could set whether it was Gigabit or 100 mbit... Also, it sometimes shows a connection as 100 mbit when it is actually Gigabit. Not DualNet compatible.

It works
Pros: What a surprise, it still works! Even so, I don't recommend buying one.
Cons: It's a Netgear
Other Thoughts: I have had terrible luck with Netgear, I bought their N draft wireless router and it died after 14 months (2 months beyond warranty). I bought a couple of their N cardbus cards too and they are junk as well. This is the only Netgear item that I still have that actually works correctly. This item is probably made by some other company under contract for Netgear, hehe.

Unreliable, Junk
Pros: Worked flawlessly.. (while it worked).. Price was low. Looked slicker than the alternatives. Fast and very easy to set-up.
Cons: Stopped working after only 4 months.
Other Thoughts: Product was originally purchased to link household computers with a gigabit connection. Overall the product worked great, until it suddenly and without warning died.
After only 4 months of very light use, the product is useless.
The device now sits and cycles, causing everything connected to it (router and 3 servers) to do the same. Unplugging the power and powering it back up will get it working for a few minutes before the cycling starts again.
If you have one of these and your network suddenly starts playing "peek-a-boo" with you in the TaskBar, or your Linux connection seems to keep popping off and back on, this is the culprit.
Cannot recommend this product at all.

Excellent gigabit switch
Pros: I have 4 machines with gigabit NICs (2 Intel, 1 RealTek, 1 3Com). All plugged into this switch using various CAT-6 cables. Worked like a charm without any fuss. Copied 400MB in under 10 seconds between old Pentiums. I like the size of the box too, very stylish as well.
Cons: Warm to the touch in a cool room, hopefully hot summer weather will not degrade performance.
Other Thoughts: Cheap and fast, what more can you want?

Fantastic - and the price is right too
Pros: Works flawlessly. Currently able to stream mpeg-2 video from server to media extender through two of these devices without a single hitch.
Cons: If I had to specify a con, the stand is a bit flimsy - I'd rather it had feet so I could set it on it's side instead as it's fallen off of my desk once or twice. Hasn't been a major issue though.

Constantly restarting
Pros: Small, easy to install and low cost
Cons: Well, it was working fine for a while but now it appears to shut down from time to time and now its restarting on its own. This is getting in the way of my automatic backups. While its low cost I would recommend a more reliable unit.

Pros: It is inexpensive! It performs as expected (fast speeds)!
Cons: None!!!
Other Thoughts: In regards to overheating: I've always had problems with my DSL modem overheating, and as a result, have rigged a 120mm fan from a PC case which aims directly across the modem. This little switch sits on top of that, so it stays cool. I've used this at lan parties, and never have problems overheating, but I think it's a good idea to fan all network things, especially if you stack them. All it costs is a spare 120mm fan and a cheap way to power it.

Cons: Cannot handle heavy traffic - goes to continuous restart, probably because of overheating.

Great Switch
Pros: Works perfect. Nice looking design.
Cons: Unit seems to run some what warm, but that is to be expected since it has no cooling fan. It can also be a pain to remove network cables with the large rubber ends over the jacks. But that isn't really a con for the switch, more so for the cables.
Other Thoughts: Not sure what everyone else is complaining about. Mine doesn't switch from 100 to 1000 mbps or over heat. Perhaps the people having the speed problems are not using Cat 6 cables.

Overheats and dies
Pros: We own a small business and use one server with two lan cards to manage the network. This switch was destined for the internal network which connected to three workstations and one laptop. When it worked, I didn't think twice about the switch.
Cons: After 2 weeks, the network went down. At first I thought this was an OS problem, but troubleshooting showed it was the switch (I replaced this switch with an older 4-port and everything worked again). My best guess is the switch overheated. However, we left the switch sitting on top of a workbench in an air-conditioned space. We also have moderate network usage -- email and web browsing. No heavy file transfers or anything. We purchased another (cheaper!) switch from NewEgg and 2+ months later no complaints about the network.
I tried using this switch again at home, and after 1 week it died as well.

works ok... switchs from 1g to 100
Pros: it seems to work just fine, a little warm, but like most other devices that are passive cooled.
i noticed that a computer on auto neg. will at times from sleep/suspend mode get a 100mbit connection vs the 1gbit that its set at, seems that forcing your card to only work with 1G might fix, or has fixed it thus far.
To get it to sense the 1G connection req unplug/repluging the device
Cons: ok except for the small glitch at times switching speeds and not sensing the max speed of the device

Decent gear
Pros: Took all of 10 seconds to power up and plug in cables and I was up and running. Had manually change negotion on NICs to 100 so didn't get 1 G right away, but that is an easy change. Sped up small soho network and looks nice with the silver trim!
Cons: None really, it has only lost it's mind once when I was playing with IP addresses and routes, and needed to be cycled, so was me not it. Solid so far.
Other Thoughts: Someone mentioned that it had a problem with speed sensing and changed down to 100 MBps. Quick fix is to set the NIC to force 1G setting in properties of the card. Did not recognise it when I cycled it, but has not changed it once I made that config change.

Pros: Cheap, small, thin
Cons: It's a low end switch...don't buy it if you're looking for a high level of throughput.
Other Thoughts: I've been able to transfer as 800mbps between two computers on the same switch

Works well
Pros: Fast, easy, pretty. Does it's job quite well.
Cons: The stand/legs are kind of a joke. I suppose it could be used, but the weight of the cables are going to tip it over nearly all the time. Kind of like a mouse trap, carefully set it up then Don't Touch It. That's the only thing that kept it from 5 eggs.

Decent value
Pros: Small and fast.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Replaced my two 100Mb switches with two of these on my home network. I noticed the speed enhancement immediately, especially when copying data to my backup PC.

Works fine
Pros: No hassles, works as advertised, it came from Newegg.
Cons: It wasn't free?
Other Thoughts: I didn't expect any issues. netgear's a solid brand, and this does exactly what I needed it to do so I could upgrade my house to gigabit.

Good Product
Pros: Works very well with other gigabit devices. Great for streaming media to the Playstaion 3 and Xbox 360. Works better than other non gigabit switches.
Cons: May have to reset the switch every now and then to allow other devices to gain access to the internet.

Overpriced Junk
Pros: Gets the job done, for the most part.
Cons: Netgear is famous (to me anyway) for simply having cheezy RJ45 inputs that tend to damage cable heads and require fighting to disconnect them.
Other Thoughts: Save yourself money and aggrivation and go with another brand.

Supposed To Work
Pros: Works
Cons: Does not communicate consistently at gigabit rate to ASUS Board, even after all updates. Sometimes GIGABIT, sometimes High Speed. Using Cat 6 wire.

Works
Pros: Fast
Cons: Could be cheaper for only a 4 port
Other Thoughts: I have this connecting my HTPC, and game consoles to the router(I didnt want to pull 3 new lines from the router to the living room). It works well and I have had no problems with it.

Small, simple, reliable
Pros: As the title says: small, simple, reliable.
Cons: Light weight means find a way to strap this puppy down.
Other Thoughts: After having had one for several months, I just ordered a second, without hesitation.

Easy Setup, Works Fine
Pros: Supports JUMBO Packets. I have my desktop w/GBit NIC, all others are on 100Mbps. So could not test speed performance. Setting up was easy - turn of all PC's, routers, VoiP Box, cable modem. Plug in this switch. Turn on Cable Modem, VoIP Box, Router, this switch then all PCs - Safest way to perform network device changes.
Cons: A documentation booklet would have been nicer. Port conencted with 1Gbit NIC shows GREEN light, others (100mbps) shows AMBER light. But there is no documentation of it, I jsut guessed.
Other Thoughts: I hope I can edit this notes when I will have another Machine with Gbit NIC to tell about performance.

works as supposed
Pros: 1 Gb transfer rate. auto cross over ports (love this feature... no more cross over cables ! It automatically detects the uplink). 5 ports to accommodate a small home network.
Cons: the base is somewhat unstable.
Other Thoughts: I do use this in conjunction with a net gear router and net gear gigabyte cards. It worked with Cat 5E cables also (I do have Cat 6 cables now)

cheap gigE switch
Pros: small, light and cheap gigabit switch
Cons: the body is a little light and the cables tend to pull it off of shelves or tilt the back end up off the ground

switch lasted < 7 days
Pros: Worked out of the box.
Cons: Stopped working after less than a week. Unfortunately, it had been sitting on my counter for 2 or 3 months, so I can't return it.

Nice little switch
Pros: Nice small footprint, easy to install. Worked right out of the box with no problems. Read other reviews were it was dropping connections or intermittant but I have had it a week now and not experienced anything like that. I have 2 laptops, 1 server, and a printer connected.
Cons: It's white and doesn't match the high tech decor of my office.
Other Thoughts: Be sure to use Cat5e cables.
