Rating + 1 WCG200 is Junk!

Pros: It worked...........sometimes.

Cons: It took me a long time to figure out why this thing kept crashing! I could go for most of a day and it would be fine and then it would keep cutting out. You'd have to reset it constantly whenever more than one person was using the wireless connections.

Other Thoughts: I replaced with a Motorola cable modem and Trendnet wireless router and it hasn't crashed once.

I would be very wary of any Linksys router or modem as I 've heard of many horror stories since I started asking around.

Rating + 1 Wireless functionality is Junk

Pros: The concept of all in one is good. The Cable modem and builtin switch/router work fine.

Cons: If you use the wireless portion at all your cable modem looses it's connection to the ISP. The only way I could get the connections (wired and wireless) working again was to power cycle the device.

Other Thoughts: I bought this thing to replace my old 802.11/b BEFW11S4 linksys and to aviod renting a modem and upgrade to 802.11/g. I thought it would be great to kill too birds with one stone. After much frustration with having to reset the thing every time I used wireless, i gave up and disabled the wireless and hooked my old BEFW11S4 into it. It works solid now, but I would have been better off buying a seperate Modem and a WRT54G or buying the Motorolla SurfBoard with wireless... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT IF YOU'RE GOING TO USE WIRELESS AT ALL. I would just avoid it period.

Rating + 1 Not a good choice

Pros: I suppose one could say it's sturdily built...

Cons: Works just fine with wired connections; wireless connections fails every time. Every time I connect with a wireless device (PC, PS3, Wii) the signal holds for 30 seconds, then invariably it must be reset. My old generic TWC wireless cable modem worked better. Way overpriced. Unfortunately, most of my devices are wireless. It is essentially a $100 plastic brick.

Other Thoughts: I bought myself this wireless router to replace a "rented" TWC one so I could alter my security settings/change my WAF passwords (TWC doesn't allow you to access router settings); and I wanted to have more than 5 wireless connections that the TWC modem supports. I was really hopeful this device would work, but should have listened to the other reviews.

Rating + 1 Worst Cable Solution Ever!

Pros: None, can't believe they get away with selling this...

Cons: Worst combo device of all time, if you buy this, be prepared to reset this multiple times a day. I reset 3-30 times depending how sick the device is that day. If you like taking a luck of the draw daily, get this..

Other Thoughts: For anyone looking for a good fix to their net, get a MOTOROLA SURFboard modem here, and look into a GamerLounge router which is also here..

Rating + 1 Not a good option.

Pros: cable modem & wireless router in 1 with a simple GUI

Cons: Its unstable connection requires frequent resets & it does not support cable internet speeds over 8mbps. A recent docsis 3.0 upgrade in my area only magnified the pre-existing issues this device had & instead of weekly loss of connectivity these devices are requires multiple daily resets. It's currently incapable of fully handling even our lowest speed (12mbps) once you take Powerboost into account (should get 24-30mbps like the other modems that are used here, but caps out around 15mbps). It is an inferior product and I feel that too many corners were cut on the design/production of this unit and the WCG200 CC model as well (Comcast exclusive). It initally worked well at launch but as the speed of the internet service increased (it was launched when 3mbps was the standard speed), the stability of this device dropped.

Other Thoughts: Don't judge Linksys products on this peice of garbage. I have not had an issue with any other model of linksys device. Head my warning, though. Stay clear of any cable modem/router combo unit. Regardless of brand. I've no experience with DSL wireless routers but from extensive first-hand expernce with cable gateways, save yourself the headache and rent a modem with a nice and stable stand-alone router.

Rating + 1 Requires Frequent Manual Reboot

Pros: Easy to use Admin area

Cons: I have to manually turn it on and off again about 3 times a night.

Problem 1: For some unknown reason, it drops internet connection for a few seconds, then shuts down the wireless service, and picks up the internet connection again. That's cool and all, but it doesn't restart the wireless service (LAN connection stays up the whole time). So I need to walk downstairs to the office to restart it.

Problem 2: This happens maybe once a month, but still requires a manual restart to solve. The unit will drop the internet connection, but not automatically reconnect. I go into the Admin area and hit renew DHCP lease, but it fails to do so (keeps saying Denied). Restart of the unit will bring connection back and that same screen says Allowed.

I complained to cable company for months (thought it was their problem) but they figured out it was this unit.

Other Thoughts: I ended up buying the Rosewill RNX-N4 from Newegg for wireless connection and bought a modem directly from the cable company. No problems since.

Rating + 1 Broke Within 5 Minutes of Use

Pros: All in 1 package seems very attractive.

Cons: I received the product, set it up, registered with Comcast, no problem. About 5 minutes into use, all Ethernet LED indication lights went to red (indicating network collision). I could not get it fixed with both Linksys and Comcast support. Linksys determined that the unit is defective. It seems to me that a lot of people are reporting problems with this unit.

Rating + 1 Big Blue Piece of Garbage

Pros: Modem and Router in one

Cons: This might be the worst router I have ever used. I got it from the cable company. It worked o.k for about 6 months (weekly restarts) but now it has to be restarted every hour for the wireless portion to work. If it were 10 dollars I would say stay away from it, but for 120+....please don't buy it. It has limited options for configuration also and it goes completely crazy (dial-up slow) if more than 3 devices are connected. If I didn't have to return this thing to the cable company I would beat the livin' **** out of it with a 3 iron.

Other Thoughts: It works really well for that hour or so after a restart....late at night....with no other users....when the temperature is below 40 degrees....when the moon shines on it just perfectly.....when you jiggle the LAN cable the right way....sometimes. If I can help it I will avoid linksys products at all costs. I just switched to a regular modem to my own router set-up and the internet works flawlessly.

Pros: Nice packaging

Cons: The unit drops its internet connection every 2-3 hours and requires rebooting to re-establish the connection. I have discussed this unit with the cable company technical support staff, they assure me the interface with the net is properly configured.

Rating + 4 Not for advanced setups, but works decently

Pros: Built in wireless for price sensitive consumers.

Cons: Trying to get it to function solely as a modem without routing and getting it to pass correct settings to another router running DD-WRT proved to not work for me -- twice.

Other Thoughts: Don't get this if you only want a modem.

Rating + 1 WCG200...NOT

Pros: wireless device directly built into the cable modem device. 4 port switch built in. Great package. Newegg is great for delivery.

Cons: Lousy implementation. This device needs to be rebooted, power cycled, every couple of weeks. poor technical support.

Other Thoughts: I installed about 8 of these at different locations before I realized there was a big problem with the device working for longer than about 2 weeks. It constantly needs to be power cycled to reset it. Don't purchase one of these unless you understand this and are willing to put up with it. Go with the separate cable modem and separate wireless device. I am slowly getting rid of these devices.

Pros: After 4 weeks of continuous use my Wireless G has performed flawlessly. Setup was relatively easy providing wireless access for two laptops and a wired gaming pc plus an Linux workstation to a Cox cable Internet connection.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I was concerned after reading so many negative user reviews for this item. Newegg's delivery was 3 days quick!

Rating + 1 A nightmare

Pros: Aside from the issue below, it worked fine. But it's a deal breaker.

Cons: Streaming video using wireless causes the whole device to stop and requires a manual restart. Linksys sent me a new one (V2 replacing my V1) which came with a seal that had "QA tested" printed on it. What a concept. You guessed right - same issue.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to have one less point of failure by purchasing this combo, but it is not worth it. The ISP was very wasted a lot of my time until they provisioned it. And in the end it doesn't work.

Rating + 3 It works sort of.

Pros: It works most of the time. Thats why the average rating.

Cons: I have comcast and the hardline works fine. Its the wireless that has issues. It works decent until a wireless device (my laptop) starts trying to do multiple things in the internet at once (bringing up multiple webpages, or streaming a/v and surfing at the same time). Whenever I do multiple things, it always drops the connection and I have to flip the on/off switch. It then resests, finds the connection again, and I am off and running. At least for a few more minutes. When I plug the ethernet directly into my laptop, this issue goes away. Not sure how to fix it.

Other Thoughts: Can't wait until qwest or verizon run fiber to my doorstep. Then I can't stop feeding my money to satan (comcast) for a high speed internet connection.

Pros: It blinks when you turn it on.

Cons: Comcast can't get this thing up and running. Just suck up and get a regular router and rent their modem. It's too much trouble in the end. 2 stars because it's probably great to have with a competent cable service. :-/

Pros: Good selectability for features. Ease of use in order to change settings. Decent wireless range and connection speed. Allows blocking by url and by IP.

Cons: Diagnostic Ping will only ping internal network connections. Reboots twice a day every day. Requires a repeater to reach other side of house.

Other Thoughts: will be upgrading to another modem soon as having this one reboot twice a day is frustrating.

Rating + 3 Works as Advertised, But...

Pros: Eliminates the $3 a month rent your cable Internet provider charges for a modem.

Cons: No WPA encryption.

Other Thoughts: If you have Comcast's Digital voice that requires a modem for phone, you are better off using that. I use this device as a wired device only. I would not recommend using wireless as it only supports WEP. REMEMBER, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO CALL YOUR ISP TO ACTIVATE ITS MAC ADDRESS FOR THE MODEM!!! You will find your Internet will not work until you do.

Rating + 2 Linksys WCG200 = POOR

Pros: Web interface, easy set-up. Integrated Modem & wireless router savwes desk space.

Cons: This device frequently drops my cable connection without warning or reason. Downloads frequently interrupted when device disconnects. No rhyme or reason except it is unstable. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT.

Other Thoughts: You would think that Cisco/Linksys would not put a piece of junk on the market, but that is exactly what they have done. There does not seem to be any technical support or patch for this problem at the Linksys website. Yet, google this product and you will find everyone has the same issue.

Rating + 2 very disappointed

Pros: wired network, wireless network, router and modem all in one unit.

Cons: terrible reliablity

Other Thoughts: I just moved & decided to buy a modem instead of renting one from the cable company. I like wired networks & my roommate likes wireless so we also needed a router that could do both. I figured a unit that had all three capabilities would be perfect. I was excited when I found the WCG200. However, I didn't buy from Newegg this time since I was in a hurry & needed the modem so the cable guy could set up our connection. I bought it locally & thus, didn't know the reviews on this thing were so bad. Well, as it turns out, the performance of this unit matches a lot of the (poor) reviews. This thing can't hold a signal at all. It worked as soon as the cable guy got our service set up but shortly after he left, the WCG200 dropped the signal. It seemed to go in cycles. We would have a signal for about 30 mins then we would lose it for about an hour, then it would come back for about 30 mins & be gone again. I eventually took it back & got a different modem and seperate Linksys router.

Pros: Worked right out the box. Had no problem connecting my desktop, laptop, Wii, pS3 or xbox 360 to this wireless gateway. Increased my desktop's down speed with the wired connection.

Cons: Drops my signal everynow and then. Most of the time it will pick back up almost immediately, others I have to reset the box. No biggie.

Other Thoughts: This is a solid all in one solution for any personal network. Recommended.

Rating + 1 Problems with the Modem

Pros: Easy and straightforward setup though the interface is limited.

Cons: Soon after purchasing this modem it began to intermittently drop my connection to my ISP (sometimes several times a day). Modem logs indicated signaling problems and problems getting the DHCP address (which could have been caused by the signaling problems). The only solution to this problem was to reboot the router, which had to be done using sneakernet. No firmware updates are available and there still aren't any. I finally ruled out the ISP by purchasing a separate modem and router combination, and it has worked flawlessly.

Other Thoughts: I have since moved and decided to try the modem in my new apartment with the same results. It has proven to be unreliable, and Linksys has proven to me that they sometimes don't stand behind their products

Rating + 1 Do Not Buy!

Pros: Works if you just want it to function as a basic modem with no features, see below.

Cons: Wireless does not work without resetting the modem every 30 minutes. That defeats the purpose of buying a device that is a modem/wireless router if you cannot use the wireless portion.

Other Thoughts: My ISP (Comcast) keeps pushing its firmware (1.1.3.5.10-0520) onto my device, which removes all port forwarding and other features. Comcast currently refuses to roll back the firmware to the original version. Linksys does not have the firmware available on it's website so you cannot tftp the correct version to the modem. Currently trying to RMA with Linksys.

Pros: Fast when it works in wireless mode. Wired works fine.

Cons: Constantly disconnects the internet connection while surfing. I leave my computer on. The internet connection is often disconnected when I come back to the computer after several hours. Requires a right click to repair the connection, and when the repair fails, which is often, I have to get up and walk to the router and switch the power on/off button. Technical support is terrible. Nothing they have recommended has helped AND they are foreigners with heavy accents.

Other Thoughts: Some of the other reviews here of this product have talked of the same problems. I would not buy this product again.

Pros: Overall, it's a standard NAT Router + DOCSIS modem.

Rating + 2 DON'T BUY IT!!!

Pros: Enticing as an all in one solution. I bought the WCG200v2 as a replacement for my WCG200v1 because of the extra wireless security protocols and DOCSIS 2.0 compliance.

Cons: Now I wish I hadn't bough this item. Many reports on Linksys chat of problems with wireless. Also many reports with constant dropping of modem. Personal experience is that the dropping of the modem is quite true, requiring many reboots. Since there is no "Restart" or "Reboot" button in the software interface, this means you have to get up, go to the WCG, power it off and on, walk back to the computer, sometimes several times an hour.

Best bet, buy a separate cable modem, router, and wireless access point.

Other Thoughts: Linksys customer service/tech support is horrible. Don't expect too many straight answers from the outsourced help line attendants reading from checklists. This extremely frustrating for more IT saavy folks. They also like to play the "not my job" and "not my problem" thing, so you'll end up battling your ISP and Linksys with both pointing the finger at one another.

Cons: This is the second of these routers I have installed on my network. The first was replaced by Linksys after it failed. Pros: All in one design, simple looks. Has everything in one box that a home user might want.

Cons: Do NOT use this for any type of gaming. Or surfing wirelessly for over an hour. Or any downloads wirelessly. V2 consistently drops my entire connection (minimum 15 minutes, max 1 hr) needing a reboot of both laptop and router.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT buy V2 of this product. By the time I got it installed due to moving, the one month was up on the limited warranty. I'm fighting Linksys tooth and nail for support on this product. If you want it all, get the BEFCMU10 and WRT54GL, NOT this all in one solution.

Pros: Did not notice any lag from my older Linksys router and modem. I actually gained on my up and down. I was downloading at an average of 10.5M and increased to 12.9 average with this gateway. My uploads went from 986KB to 2.5M.

Cons: Can not get the wireless to connect to a Wii. No firmaware updates available. The only way to get the Wii to connect is to turn off the firewall and accept pings. It doesn't matter even if you buy a wireless USB adapter from Nintendo, this router will not allow you to connect it to a Wii.

Other Thoughts: Easy to configure and set up. Linksys had good support on the internet.

Rating + 2 This thing is GARBAGE!

Pros: The concept of of having wireless, routing/NAT, and a cable modem in one package. (If the thing worked correctly)

Cons: I'm on my second one now. They both have dropped network sync with Comcast on average of every 10-20 minutes with constant throughput. No, it's not a firmware issue because of Comcast. Comcast will no longer update firmware because of a past problem with this unit when it was still rev. 1. Without the ability to upgrade firmware on your own, you're pretty much scr**ed.

Other Thoughts: I have been a loyal Linksys customer for years. I wish I'd done more research on this unit before I bought it. There are widespread issues with it.

The signal covers my entire house, including the backyard. It gets constant traffic from an xbox 360 and 2 PC's, all wireless. The logging features are a bit lacking, but get the job done. For a home networking solution this is great.

Cons: None. Great product.

Other Thoughts: I wish Linksys would make a new updated version, Wireless N etc.

Rating + 5 Works Well w/Wii and Comcast ATL

Pros: works well w/Comcast in ATL, wireless signal strength good, never have had to reset, internet connection stays up well, easy to configure

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: purchased this to work w/Wii and to eliminate cable modem/router devices, have not experienced any of the issues other have complained about- make sure in advance that your cable provider supports the device

Pros: Easy setup and stable connection. Wireless covers the entire house (two story) and yard.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've owned the WCG200 for two years. It has never let me down. I had upto three wireless connections active as well as the wired and never noticed a slowdown/lag. This device operates just as advertised.

Rating + 2 Shop around, better stuff out there

Pros: This product is convenient, easy to set up out of the box and eliminates the need for additional products in a small space.

Cons: This product would be great if it were stable, the router resets and the signal drops all the time at least several times a day and linksys has yet to release firmware to address this problem. Do your research on other products before buying this product. Better yet do a search on the Internet about this model and the constant resets and you'll see all the dissatisfied customers. Don't bother with Linksys support they don't even have anyone there CSuppt team that know how to read the logs from it. and tech support is too busy to respond.

Pros: Fast, easy setup; the web-based configuration interface is very nice, typical of Linksys.

Cons: Wireless is a little flaky; mediocre signal with the receiver in the same room, and drops the signal pretty often. Also loses sync with the cable, sometimes as often as 4-5 times an hour. Not NEARLY reliable enough for online gaming.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it's the usual mixed bag you get with Linksys. I expect a far better piece of hardware for that price.

Rating + 5 Great Modem

Pros: I've had this modem for a year and a half and I haven't had a single problem yet. My computer connects directly to the modem, but I have two roomates who use the wireless connection. None of us have had any problems at any time. It always connects to the internet right away, and I've never even had to reset it yet. I took one of my roomates' laptops and reformated it, and it consistently had a great wireless connection to the modem. One roomate is about 12 feet away in separate room, and the other is downstairs, and the connection stays strong. All 3 of us use the internet at the same time, and we've never had any issues. I've even used my Nintendo DS to play online, and it works great. Found the connection within seconds.

Cons: Don't have any to speak of. It does what it's supposed to do.

Other Thoughts: Great buy. I haven't had any of the issues anyone else here spoke of.

Rating + 1 Loses wi-fi signal, needs to be rebooted constantly

Pros: Pros? Hmm, easy to install if your ISP activates the modem. Check with your cable-internet provider first

Cons: 3 months in, and my two laptops (one Dell, one Apple) begin to lose the wi-fi signal. Router needs to be rebooted every 20 minutes. Called Linksys tech support (somewhere in Calcutta), got a non-English speaking rep. who didn't know a single thing (on top of that they speak very slowly).

Will never buy again.

Rating + 2 Problem child

Pros: Easy setup. Comcast in N Illinois plugged in their cable, registered it and w/a DHCP configured Thinkpad I was off and running.

Cons: 1) From once every few hours to once a week, I've got to power off reset the unit because it loses sync with cable.

2) Although I'm 10 feet away from the unit, the wireless signal is generally low. When copying large files from/to wired windoze PC I will lose connection, only to have it back a few seconds later. But I've got to attempt the copy all over again. This can happen 6 or 8 times with a 200Mb file. After 8 minutes of waiting for a copy, only to have to start over is aggravating. I've learned to use my USB Flash instead of the network.

Other Thoughts: I've got 14 years of IT experience, and if my WAN at the office was like this, I'd have lost my job long ago. I will be replacing this unit. Didn't save my thermal receipt from bricks and mortar store (would have faded by now anyway) for RMA purpose. Their tech support could only tell me to reset the unit. Gee, I figured that one out all by my self.

Other Thoughts: Scott W, 10/9 to 10/12 IS 3 day shipping. 9 + 3 = 12.

If you order one day shipping, you don't expect it to come the same day thus your logic of 9, 10, 11, 12 = 4 days, is totally incorrect.

Rating + 5 Decent Item for what you need

Pros: All in one unit. You do not need to rent a Cable modem from the ISP anymore. Wireless and hardline together. One box instead of 2-3. Save 13 cents of electricity per year?

Cons: Linksys has not released any firmware updates for this since day one.

Other Thoughts: UPS took 4 days to deliver instead of the 3 clearly stated on Newegg's website. They frequently do this. It is a shame that Newegg has to constantly lose money refunding shipping charges because their primary shipper cannot do their promised job.

Newegg refunded the shipping promptly. All I had to do was call. It was shipped on 10/9/2006 but did not arrive until 10/12/2006. Hmm, 9, 10,11,12. 4 days.

Pros: The modem seems to work OK...

Cons: This unit has many, many problems. It drops the internet frequently on wireless and there is no known fix at this time. Linksys advised that a firmware update is required. Have they provided one? Inexplicably, no... Don't just take my word for it - check out the Linksys support forum for this product - it happens to alot of folks. I would NOT buy this if I were you.

Other Thoughts: This is the first bad Linksys product that I have had. As always, great service from Newegg though.

Pros: An all in one product. If it worked, I would love it.

Cons: Disconnects VERY frequently. Have to manually reset the router to get the internet back. Especially with torrents and file downloads, but also whenever it feels like it. There are no upgrades, and on the linksys forums there are about 20 pages of disatisfied customers who are having the same problem. Linksys customer help advised I return it and my ISP said the problem wasn't on their end.

Other Thoughts: The solution to fixing this problem is to turn off the wireless function of this device and buy another wireless device to attach to it.

Pros: No wires, the idea of having a combination device is good.

Cons: Runs very hot. Drops connection 10+ times per day, stalls, reboots. Never provides a reliable connection nor is there any rhyme or reason to its constant failings.

Other Thoughts: Would highly recommend stearing clear of this unit. I have been nothing but dissatisfied with it since I got it. My ISP has provided good service but this modem isn't able to take advanctage of it. Haven't had any problems since I got my D-LxxK. Pros: Easy to setup because I've had to do it at least thirty times

Cons: The fact that I've had to setup the unit thirty times

Other Thoughts: This was an exchange for the WCG200 I bought in November 2005 (Newegg does not provide a refund for this product). It is resetting while streaming and resetting just like the last one. The firmware cannot be upgraded on this product and it would probably be better to get a separate cable modem and wireless router instead, probably not a Linksys either.

Rating + 2 Quick, Run Away

Pros: Eliminates wire clutter, relatively inexpensive compared to separate components

Cons: Dropouts, Stalls, Loses Settings when power out, Difficult to configure secure network, does not auto-recover always, no QoS settability, can't return for refund to Newegg

Other Thoughts: I purchased this product one year ago. Since that time I've experienced adequate performance from the WCG200 with a 5Mbps connection from Time-Warner Cable in North Carolina but there is still some significant downside to this product.

First, the WCG200 experiences intermittent stalls and dropouts (it will spontaneously reset itself or the connection suddenly halts) typically when streaming video or downloading a large file. I believe some of the dropout is due to Time Warner Cable ("Roadrunner") in my area of North Carolina and my Toshiba Satellite laptop. It does not always self-recover, either, until after you turn off the unit then turn it back on.

Second, if the power is out (I'm not talking about the switch on the WCG200 being in the off position, but the cord yanked out from the wall or a power outage occurring) for more than five minutes, some of the programmed settings for a secure network change and you can no longer connect, possibly some WEP configuration is los

Pros: okay first things first if you have comcast all you need to do is register the MAC address, which is the 48bit haxadecimal number encoded into the device. i am a network engineer and have nevre had any issues with this device. compared to all of my cisco routers, this item is cakework. now for those of you that like to degrade this product, go study and take your network + exam, you will have a better understanding of networking protocols.

Cons: Linksys has never bothered with any firmware upgrades, and as with all Linksys products, it tends to work best with all Linksys products on the network ie wireless devices, switches, hubs, etc

Other Thoughts: i would like it if they could recode the firmware so that the user could deploy witch functions of the device you want to use.ie the modem only, wireless only, router only. its tought if you want to set up a true firewall on the same segment when both are trying to act as dhcp servers.if you disable this item as the dhcp server than no one can utilize the wireless abilities. this could all be fixed with firmware

Rating + 2 OK for beginners...

Pros: The idea behind this gateway is great. If things work the way they were designed to, this would be a great setup.

Cons: ... unfortunately, they don't. The web interface is BUGGY as all hell. That is to be expected from Linksys, but the real bad thing about this modem is that it couldn't hold a wireless connection to save it's life. A SSH connection would die after about 10-20 seconds of inactivity. A beginner may not notice this (ie, just web surfing), but intermediate or advanced users will turn this thing into a frisbee.

Other Thoughts: I gave up on the all-in-one route and went with a Motorola SB5120 cable modem and a Nexxxxr WGR614 wireless router. This setup is MUCH faster and MUCH more stable (so far). I would recommend this combo over the WCG200 any day of the week.

Pros: Consolodated router and cable modem. Easy setup.

Cons: System time is set to PST and there is no way to change it to local time zone. This means that you must convert PST time to local time when setting access time restrictions. Additionally, blocking access overnight takes some detective work to figure out- this process is way too complicated. Tech support was a joke...they were telling me to configure menu options that did not exist!!

Other Thoughts: Most of the issues with this device could be fixed with a firmware upgrade but I guess they want us to buy version 3 instead - NOT!

Cons: Tends to reset on its own. It was perfectly fine the first month and then all of a sudden it randomly resets during the day. Some days it is ok and some days it resets like 10 times... I read the log file and contacted linksys but they couldnt figure it out. They just sent me a new one which is doing the same thing... !!

Pros: At first, all was well. The setup was quick and the tech support guy helping with the 2nd laptop (which never did work) tried for a good 45 minutes.

Cons: Within two days, the signal started dropping and shifting us to unsecured wireless networks in other apartments. If I wanted to pirate my network connection, I wouldn't have paid for cable internet and this modem/router. I have now been on hold with linksys customer support for 30 minutes for the 2nd day in a row, with no end in sight. Tuesday was supposed to have better hold times, according to Monday's hold message. Now I'm being told that the hold time is due to an overwhelming response to their new products.
I am, to say the least, underwhelmed.

Rating + 2 WCG200-Problems with VPN

Pros: All-in-one is good *** BUT *** VPN users see Cons!

Cons: IP lease is obtained only for one hour and must be renewed every hour. As a result, VPN users are kicked off every hour since IP is not able to be renewed while connected to VPN. I called linksys and they confirmed there is no option in the GUI to configure the 'Client Lease Time' or set 'Keep Alive'. VPN users stand clear of this product. All others, it's a great product. Here's the error VPN User will get every hour "Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address". You need to release and renew the connection and then connect to VPN again.

Other Thoughts: This rating would have been a five if I didn't have issues. But, I use VPN for work and it is not productive to 'fix' connection every hour.

Pros: All in one - cable modem, router, WAP

Cons: reboots itself occasionally, can take up to an hour or so to re-establish connection to ISP. The problem is BitTorrent. The WCG200 can't handle the hundreds of connections. Rating + 5 Great Product

Pros: I really like this product. Of course prior to this I had a Linksys wireless router (BEFW11S4) that did not perform well with a (less than acceptable) Surfboard Modem. This unit has solved the problems and has alleviated the need to reboot on a cumbersome daily basis. Strongly recommended and very much appreciated. I'm back on board with Linksys again, from the reviews I’ve read about the old unit, I did myself an injustice by trying to go cheaply – even with a Linksys Product.

Still not positive that the BEFW11S4 was the culprit in the old 802.11b system, but having the option to eliminate the modem and wireless router in one fell swoop was an attractive option thought it was pricy.

The software is good and the web interface gives you a lot of control.

Cons: None that I can think of. I can manage the unit from 100 feet away, the signal is good and the connection seems pretty strong. Wireless across a street and between two buildings so I'd imagine (depending on building construction and outside interference) that this baby will connect you easily in a home or small business application.

Other Thoughts: Less expensive??? Ah well, gotta say it neh?

Pros: DSL simply was not coming into my neighborhood anytime soon. I wanted to upgrade from 56K dialup - that left cable TV with internet access (Metrocast) as my only upgrade path. I have kids at home who web surf so I wanted a more robust firewall than the XP OS solution. The WCG200 gave me my DOCSIS cable modem, hardware firewall and wireless access in one box. My home network was out of the box and running on 4 computers within a hour. I'm running 100% Linksys products and couldn't be happier. (one WCG200 plus three WUSB54G) Encryption options were not clearly defined with pros & cons of each type. But I wrote the terms down, surfed the net, educated myself and painlessly made my home network secure from outside hackers. Bottom Line: no regrets in choosing these Linksys products and no regrets choosing newegg. 3 day delivery!

Cons: Wish there was a short tutorial on encryption terms and under which circumstances should a particular encryption option be used. A very minor issue that does not detract from product performance.

Other Thoughts: I live in a single floor home with bedrooms on one end and family room on the other. I encourage you to spend the extra 35 bucks and purchase the Linksys HGA7S high gain antenna for your WCG200. All my wireless remotes have solid 4 bar connections with no drop-outs. This antenna definetly gave me an RF signal boost

Pros: Easy install, excellent quallity.
Don't let the one antenna fool you,
getting really good reception in a 200-300 feet range. Not recommend for wider range and super high speed

Cons: No firmware update because of being
a cable/router combo. Power button situated under the antenna.Sometimes loosing connection while downloading over 800 kb/s, but I think that's because of ISP rather then the router. Overall great product for people with limited room.

Other Thoughts: If you are upgrading fom B to G and
have a laptop with B, consider changing your internal wireless card rather then buying a pci bus or usb adapter. The ones who need info about this search Newegg for "mini PCI wireless LAN, I ordered mine today..My PCI slot is dead, the usb adapter works great but sticks out like pinochio's nose..and my

Rating + 5 Great Modem/Router

Pros: Works Great. Easy to setup. No problems in the last 10 months. Excellent wireless range. It is a great 3 in 1 product. This is a good device for someone that does not have a good knowledge of computers.

Cons: Weak password only 8 charaters max. WEP does not play well with some D-Link devices. I fixed this by using mac address filtering.

Other Thoughts: I would buy this product again. As alway Newegg had it to me fast. Also FedEx did an awsome job.

Comments: This is the new version 2 from Linksys. I had no problem at all setting it up. It works great! I have a 2 story home and the reception is good even in my basement. As with all my purchases from Newegg, the shipping was fast and the transaction was flawless. Thanks Newegg!

Rating + 5 Again...Incredible

Comments: This product is updated. It has WEP, WPA, WPA2, MAC Address filtering... etc. etc. I live in a towhouse and the signal is available 2 doors down. The actual product comes with one antenna, but signal strenght is great. I have long since trusted and preffered Newegg as my source for technology. Fast shipping, warranty services... AN ACTUALL PHONE NUMBER TO CALL...

Long Live Newegg.

Rating + 5 Great Router

Comments: Great router, options inside the router settings are easily navigated and well laid out. Wireless capability has good range and signal strength, operates at high data transfer rates (currently on an 8Mbps down, 768Kbps up internet connection). Is Comcast cable approved for those in southeast region. Have had no problems whatsoever, highly recommended.

Rating + 4 All-in-one is average in performance

Comments: the number one reason that I purchsed this product is for saving desk space. I knew I wanted all three elements (cable modem, router and wireless), so I thought this would be the best buy.

In the end, the wireless component was not the best. I can get double the download rate using its wired connection rather than its wireless. Maybe it was just me, but mine only came with ONE antenna, not two like the picture. I'm guessing that contributes to my wireless loss.

Otherwise, all other components work fine. I use charter cable, and have had no other problems so far.

If you don't mind slightly slower wireless connections, want less desk clutter and are willing to spend some coin, this is a good buy.

This is my first time using newegg, and I am glad I did: supper fast shipping and excellent customer care

Comments: Tried any number of routers, wired and wireless, with my five year old Toshiba modem and had constant problems with internet drop-outs and slow speeds. Replaced with intergrated unit so that they would have no problem t"talking" to one another and with new modem technology my download speeds increased and drop-outs ceased. I have two computers hard wired via cat 6 cables and two woreless g computers on my home network. Unit works like a charm and their customer service is better than their competitors although still off-shore. Would recommend item highly. Range is excellent - perhaps due in part to the dual ant. and set-up could not be easier.
