Pros: Solid, fast router. Haven't had a single Wi-Fi dropout or had to reboot because it locked up (unlike my previous router from a competitor).

Cons: Stock firmware seems to be missing things like assigning static addresses to clients or changing DNS servers.

Other Thoughts: Stuck with the stock firmware. Fixing the cons didn't seem worth the possibility of bricking the router.

Rating + 5 Reliable, versitile.. great product

Pros: 3rd Party Firmware!

Reliable: I have had 2 of these now for 2+ years. They rarely give me any problem at all (amazing uptime).

Oh yea.. 3rd Party Firmware!

Cons: None.. 5 eggs

Other Thoughts: For a home network this is a great product. If you don't have IT knowledge it will work great. If you do have some and you can flash and take advantage of 3rd party firmware you will really be impressed with what this unit can do.

Pros: Easy to set up. Great range. Very reliable until i came across this one. Linksys tech support.

Cons: Received one of the very few that failed after a couple weeks of use

Other Thoughts: Had one for a little over 30 days until it encountered a hardware failure (flashing power light). I called Linksys support and had it RMA'd for another one (actually a refurbished one). Just received the replacement and its working well so far. This is my third WRT54GL and it's the first one to fail.

Rating + 5 Awesome

Pros: Best router there is. Even though it looks like 3 year old tech, it performs flawless. This is my second version of this router. Couple years ago, I had a WRT54GS which was amazing as well. I bought this replace our faulty Linksys "Black Box" router that my father had bought, and I haven't looked back since.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Not exactly a con, but I never loved the included software.

Pros: Xp had the drivers so it was very easy to install. I've always used a wired connection prier to this purchase and was expecting a delay with my connection. Runs great, I am using it on 3 PC's at once. No hiccups as of yet. Highly recommended.

Cons: none

Rating + 5 Better than GB + N Routers

Pros: This router replaced a twice-failed DIR-655. I chose this one instead of replacing the DIR-655 for the third time because this router has a higher percentage of 5-stars than the DIR-655 does and also because I used an earlier version of this router before upgrading two years ago to GB and draft N. Since I am essentially downgrading to 100BaseT and B/G I expected to see a reduction in my home network's performance. To my pleasant surprise, I have had no decrease in netwrok performance and have noticed that this product has better DHCP address assignment performance so when our computers are rebooted they are quickly assigned an IP address. With the DIR-655 the delay was noticable. I also have a heavily-used WHS machine which uses UPnP to enable outside access. With the DIR-655 the UPnP often required reset, even with firmware which supposedly fixed UPnP problems. Thsi router required no assistance at all in making the WHS happy. Get this one instead of a Gigabit, N router!

Cons: I corrupted the firmware by using the router's built-in web admin utility as soon as I received it. The power light blinked continuously after the failed update. Luckily, the Linksys support web site gave very good instructions on how to reload the firmware from an attached computer suing an ftpt.exe application. The only problem was that the Linksys support web site link to the ftpt.exe utility is broken. I've addressed that with Linksys.

Other Thoughts: I have seen very poor quality and reliability in the Gigabit, Draft N routers from many common vendors. This older, supposedly slower router beats Belkin, D-Link and even its own Linksys high-end peers.

Pros: Easy configuration

Cons: Doesn't work for me more than 2 weeks at a shot. WiFi speed all over the map. WiFi drops. Wired ports quit. Have to reset the box, which looses all config settings. Then works for 2 hours to 2 weeks. Using latest Cisco/Linksys firmware.

Other Thoughts: Switching to another brand.

Rating + 5 WRT54GL Pleasing

Pros: Purchased to replace older wired Linksys unit and its performance is faster + I now have access point for wireless. There have been no resets. The router setup was easy however I read about it prior to buying. I utilized WPA security, created my security net password, name for SSID, and changed the ADMIN/Password---- and it worked well. I needed no other changes .
I did not care about N capability. port forwarding etc. I wanted Nat firewall, WPA security, and stock firmware. I wanted simple, trustworthy operation and I got it.

Cons: Not sure if con but laptop had trouble hooking up when continual broadcast was later disabled. There are valid arguements both for and against this disable.

Other Thoughts: Web review would seem to suggest that laptop WIFI chipset can be a weak point dependent on the OEM. Some kids just don't play together well.

Rating + 5 Tomato

Pros: Loaded up Tomato Firmware right away. Runs it great, no issues.

Cons: Doesn't seem to have as much "raw power" as my late Netgear WGR614v6, even though this Linksys has more ram. Streaming video wirelessly is a bit slower than with the Netgear. Clearing the NVRAM helped a little after the flash. May be the router or the firmware; I can't say for sure. Not big enough of a problem to loose an egg.

Other Thoughts: Absolutely love the Linux on-board. Tomato runs fantastic. I highly recommend it. My old Netgear router started acting up (stopped moving traffic randomly, had to be power cycled about every other day) so this replaced it. Couldn't be happier with a g router.

Pros: Great price, easy install, powerful signal

Cons: users guide is on cd only. Good for environment, little tricky when equipment is all over house.

Other Thoughts: With old router Girlfriend's laptop had a hard time connecting and staying connected. Now it's connected practically before windows is finished loading. I got my PC, her laptop, PS3, WII and Canon Printer all hooked up with no issue. I'm using the router and software straight out of the box.

Pros: works great with tomato or dd-wrt. Sets up flawlessly multiple times. I set this up for about 7 clients so far. Not 1 hiccup. Power Adapter doesn't take up too much room in socket. Router can go months without having to be reset!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I also have a Buffalo router which I love just as much as this one.

Pros: ....still thinking

Cons: Connections drop every 5 minites or so. Happens on all 5 computers at our location. Doesnt happen with our old trusty router.

Rating + 5 WRT54GL + Tomato Firmware

Pros: There's not much to say about this router that hasn't been said already. After using various iterations of this model and several different 3rd party firmwares, I have come to the conclusion that the feature-set of this router and the Tomato firmware makes this a great access point (I let my ISP handle the routing and my switch handle wired connections).

Cons: N/A

Rating + 5 Awesome with Tomato 1.27.7

Pros: This particular model (wrt54gl) is loved by the open source community. I purchased mine in 2006 for sixty four dollars. I was originally thinking to eventually update the firmware to dd-wrt... I never did for 4 years. The original firmware worked for my needs and gave me no problems whatsoever. Then Tomato came and after reading user reviews about it, I felt my router finally needs a firmware upgrade. So I upgraded to Tomato (which took me 5 minutes) and now my router works wonders.. there are tons of features not found in the original firmware. Tomato's simplicity won me over DD-WRT (which is also good btw).

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: My linksys is wr554gl v1.1 never gave me problems for the last 4 years. I was even thinking this model will soon go away...but it's still here and mine is still hard at work with a media server, 5 ubuntu linux pc's and 3 wireless netbooks. Highly recommended! Simply the best.

Rating + 5 Easy like Sunday Morning

Pros: Very easy to set up. I am the guy who bugs you techies for help with this kind of thing, and it took me all of 30 minutes to set up the router and configure my laptop to connect to it wirelessly.

Cons: I wish the power extension cord was longer. It's a good 3' but it would have been nicer if it was 4'-5'.

Other Thoughts: I've owned a few routers in my day. I have always bought linksys routers. I had a previous generation wireless router and it took one of my "tech" friends over an hour to set it up in my apartment. I have had a regular wire router, also linksys, and it worked very well. When it died, I did not hesitate to purchase another linksys. All the reviewers pointed to this item. I like that it has wire ports along with wireless connectivity, last time I bought a router that wasn't an option.

My big concern was setting it up. I've moved away from all the friends who I consider "techies" and I have no one to pester for help. It was super easy to set up though. Definately read the directions before you try to set it up. I'm sure I will never use this router to its full potential, and I know some of you will cry about that. However, for the price, it works like a champ! Would highly recommend to anyone who asks.

Rating + 5 Great Router!

Pros: I have several Linksys WRT54GS and GL routers. They're all still working fine. I even have a v1.0 GS that still is in use and running DD-WRT firmware. This router can literally be turned into a device that has the features of a much more expensive router. I've used HyperWRT and DD-WRT on different GS and GL models and never bricked one yet. This is a great little router, for those who know a bit about them and are not afraid to flash it to 3rd party openWRT firmware. The GL models are very stable out of the box and require no extra work, if you just need a decent router. However, it is very cool to flash it and be able to use it as a wireless bridge, among many other possible applications. I run a forum server from my home, and everyone said they noticed an increase in speed when I went from the GS to the GL model. The GL is running my LAN right now, along with a Linksys EZXS88W switch to supply some more CAT ports.

Cons: None, that I know of. The v1.0 GS had a log overbuffering problem, but I cured that using HyperWRT and a small linux startup script.

Other Thoughts: I actually have a collection of the older GS models of various versions, all the way back to version 1.0, and they all still work great! The GL is just an updated version of that router. I use one now, and recommend it to any client who needs a wireless router. I acquired a few of them from clients who thought they had problems, but it turned out to be something else, because I brought the routers home and have been using them with 3rd party operWRT firmware every since, without any further problems. Most of the problems occurred in office buildings, which probably had something interfering with the signal. I've only seen one actually go bad, and it was just one port that had a problem. When I attended IT school, I loved when they tossed Linksys devices, because most of the time, if they had power, I took them home and couldn't find anything wrong with them! LOL I'm still using them, both wireless and hard wired.

Pros: Old reliable. Recently moved to my own place and needed to buy myself a new router. After a long debate I settled on keeping the same model of router I had before. I stuck to the motto, "If it ain't broke..don't fix it."

Pros: Easy to install and it works like a charm. I get strong signals from 3 notebooks and 2 desktops. I'm very pleased with this router.

Cons: Had to powercycle the router a few times during the first week. Not sure what that was about, but it's been good since then. The browser configuration was a little too much for me, but I got the encryption working. That's good enough for me.

Other Thoughts: I've heard about this router for years. I finally bought it and it certainly lives up to its name.

Rating + 5 So far, so GREAT

Pros: Thank you for the useful reviews, all you "high understanding" techies! Ordering and shipping a breeze. Set up super easy. Some of you "mod" types scared me with comments about the firmware, but our needs are so simple that the easy setup from the disk was all we required. The iPod Touch gets a great signal from this, and I'll set up the Roku as soon as it arrives. If that goes well, then it's on to a digital tv antenna and goodbye cable!

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Waiting to see how it does with the Roku, but haven't had a moment's trouble yet.

Pros: I bought this and a Linksys wireless adapter to replace a Netgear g router and adapter. The difference is dramatic. The Linksys equipment is easy to set up, reliable, and fast. They function seemlessly, whereas I am constantly battling the Netgear equipment.

Rating + 5 There is a reason...

Pros: There is a reason this product has won so many customer choice awards - it is good. At the time of purchase, I paid $60 with free shipping - not a bad price. It works great as a wireless router, and if you find yourself in need of one, you can't go wrong here.

Cons: At its 'regular' price of $80, it may be a bit much if you are looking for a simple router, but if you are in need of wireless and grab it off Newegg, I can see nothing wrong with this one.

Rating + 1 Linksys Firmware WOW!

Pros: It worked until

Cons: Listen, I had one of these that quit broadcasting. I updated the Firmware & KILLED IT! I thought, huh, must be user error so I bought a wired Linksys & a Linksys WAP. COuld NEVER get to the WAP so I took off the antenae since I didn't use the wireless much anyway.

Other Thoughts: Now I have a Roku & wanted to use wireless. Same prob so I update Firmware in the Wired & KILLED IT! Linksys can bite me. 2 times is not a charm & is not User error. No I didn't interrupt the download & I did everything in order. Killed 2 routers with their Firmware. Not kosher.

Pros: Low Cost, Dual Antenna, Excellent Range, Commercial Firmware/ Public Wifi Available.

Cons: Included CD (Don't use it)

Other Thoughts: Back in the day this was the most dependable wireless router platform and still holds true today. With all the new fancy Mimo Styles comes a price and that is you must pay a lot of money to get close to the range that a WRT54GL can give right out of the box.
I highly recommend this old school router for reliablility and excellent range.

Rating + 3 Networking Nightmare

Pros: - Easy manual browser based setup
- Wireless-N

Cons: I have had many problems with this router before and after firmware upgrades. I have two servers that run my security system and webservices (I know, what a choice in hardware...budgets make you do stupid things.) Often, it will drop its routing table entries for all dynamically assigned addresses. Sometimes it will still route based on IP and lose its ability to resolve host names. Sometimes, wireless access stops for no apparent reason and all wired traffic is fine and vice-versa. Sometimes, all inbound traffic is denied and outbound is fine. On occasion during the power cycle, it will loose half of its settings and retain the other half. It is frustrating having to power this thing down all the time and reboot it to resolve its issues.

Other Thoughts: Looking back, I would probably try a different router. I didn't have as many problems with the old wrt54g. I may give Dlink a shot next.

Rating + 5 It's the bee's knees

Pros: -Linux

Cons: -Linksys Firmware

Other Thoughts: This router is GREAT once you get rid of the linksys firmware. Can't comment much on it, other than I had it for less than 1 week before flashing it with different router firmware products.

Finally settled on Tomato, used to have problems with original linksys firmware while torrenting, it would not handle many connections well, had to limit utorrent to under 400 connections to keep it stable. No QoS on the linksys firmware.

Upgraded to tomato, I can have 1000+ connections on utorrent, and QoS means I can still browse the web even while downloading 700kB/s in the background.

Awesome!

I would give it 4 eggs normally because of the firmware, but if you are buying this router....you probably plan on flashing it anyway so 5 eggs it is!

Rating + 5 Pain free

Pros: No need to reset frequently (unlike my old Belkin router). Works well even under heavy wireless traffic. Most of all, reliable and pain free.

Cons: For the price, only supports 802.11 b/g. The market is not filled with cheaper n routers.

Other Thoughts: My previous Belkin router (which I had for over 4 years) become an annoyance with the constant reboots. The problem, I suspected was the heavy wireless traffic around the area I live. There are about 30 routers in the near vicinity pumping out radio signals and the Belkin couldn't keep up with the interference. After searching for a good router, I converged on this one, and I will never regret it. Although this one doesn't do the 'n' standard, it is still fairly fast enough and beats the hell out of interference from other routers in the area.

Pros: I got the router to work.

Cons: Setup wizard would not even complete, just hung with no Next, Back, or Close button anywhere (Windows 7). So I configured manually and got the router to work; but could not establish wireless connections with my existing hardware (tried iPhone, laptop, and older D-Link bridge). Interface is pretty clunky, I can see why everyone flashes this with DD-WRT.

Other Thoughts: The router is probably not defective, it could probably be made to work with hours of configuration hassle; but it's not worth it, I'm just going to keep using my old D-Link router until their 802.11n stuff matures some more.

Pros: Wall mountable and desktop mountable. Amazing capabilities with alternate firmware. (DD-WRT) Default firmware good for casual use, but alternate firmware really opens up usage possibilties.

Cons: Firmware not updateable through Firefox. Not sure if this is because of hardware or firmware? I run all linux/bsd based machines on my network, so I use a single machine running Windows XP to do firmware updates.

Rating + 5 This is my 9th WRT54GL

Pros: This is a great device, It runs Tomato wonderfully,

The firmware supports a direct upgrade to Tomato right through the Linksys firmware, just login, browse to the right firmware, and upload, Wait a minute and you are running one of the best firmwares possible.

Cons: It shouldn't even come with a full firmware, it should just come with an interface that tells you where to download the 5 main custom firmwares and an update button.

There is a limit to how big of a firmware the linksys update will allow, this should be removed as well.

Other Thoughts: The idea that anyone could buy this and keep running the stock firmware saddens me, this device is built for Linux!

Never stop making this device Linksys, you have an excellent product, I just threw out a brand new 90 dollar Linksys product I had to buy because I needed a router immediately and couldn't wait for shipping. This is a replacement for that sorry device. Hire the Tomato Developer to fix your firmware, _One Guy_ has consistently surpassed your employees by leaps and bounds.

A tomato with wireless N and USB support would be a killer application.

Pros: this router is like a rock, solid steady. Owned more that 2 years. Never failed. Even more powerful once you refresh it to dd-wrt.

Cons: hard to find any deal for this router, (which may be a pro, on the other side :-)

Other Thoughts: if linksys enable the IP reservation, I even don't need to switch to dd-wrt.

Rating + 5 Love it once 3rd party firmware installed

Pros: Lots of positive feedback. No questions about whether this is a quality product. Third party firmware support turns this router from outdated to top notch. I was able to increase the transmit power to 75w which extended my range by ~50%. I haven't set up QoS yet but I'm looking forward to it and love that this feature can be enabled.

Cons: The case doesn't look bad but I'd prefer if it were modernized a bit.

Pros: This router lives up to its 5 egg rating, and then some. The router is decent with the stock firmware, but when coupled with tomato or dd-wrt it will give even more options.

Cons: Nadda

Other Thoughts: If you aren't looking to get wireless N this router will do just fine. With the support that you can find you won't be disappointed.

Rating + 5 All Good Here

Pros: This is one of the BEST hardware purchases I have made. Like most everyone before has stated, this router works great for me. I have two ethernet connections and three wireless connections going on, no problems at all. I have had two other makes of routers prior to this. One continually had to be reset, and uploads were excruciatingly slow, (if they were even succesful), compared to this LINKSYS. I'm amazed now at how slow my prior uploads were.

Cons: I'm upset with me that I didn't change out to this router sooner. No dinner for me tonight as punishment - well maybe some pizza. No cons about the router at all.

Other Thoughts: I have put of changing out my old router because of a bad experience that I had trying to set up another router (had to revert back to my original router). I'm still not certain yet if I received a bad router or I messed up the install, in either case I was a apprehensive about trying again but the constant resets of the old router gave me no choice. This time I read up on, and printed the pertinant pages from the manual, cloned the wired PC's Mac and everything went great (except for bit-defender not wanting to play - this is a quirk of bit-defender with any router though). It was a little touchy changing the IP for the router though, I thought for a few minutes I might have just made a new paperweight, but everything came back up and the install continued without any other issues.

Pros: Worked right out of the box with finicky cable modem. Gives great signal throughout house, 75% strength downstairs on far side of the house through a concrete wall. Setup interface fairly easy to use. Complete WPA2 support.

Cons: Wireless security is not enabled by default.

Other Thoughts: Included CD is a pain in the rear replacement for a small piece of paper telling you how to plug it all in. Once it tried to check that I was connected, the software failed.

Cons: Lower price?

Pros: Quality product, easy set up, works without any issues and is pretty much plug and play.

Cons: Works great with my two Vista machines, but my old XP Pro machine can not access it due to diferent security settings. I cant understand why. I have fiddled and fiddled with it. Its the old machine, not the router.

Other Thoughts: This is the third Linksys Router I have owned and it works just as good as all the others. DO NOT buy one of the cheaper Linksys Routers (the ones without the external anntenas) as they are ABSOLUTEY garbage.

Pros: The connection is stable. I have never been dropped. Down/up speed is fast. The wireless signal strength is always 100%. Easy to set up, even if you are inexperienced. Personally, I like the firmware.

Cons: None that I've noticed.

Other Thoughts: I have owned this router for about 9 months and have not had any problems yet. I actually use a cheap USB wireless adapter on my desktop upstairs and I still get download speeds of 5MB/s, which is about the same as if I were to plug directly into my modem.

Pros: Reliable and does not need to be daily rebooted unlike my previous d-link router

Cons: Was a drop in speed from the gigabyte speeds that I enjoyed with my d-link but I knew that when I purchased it. It is worth the drop for the stability it provides.

Pros: Design is old, but firmware updates have been great, excellent product. Nothing like old school design that is steadfast and 99% reliable.

Cons: I have an above average network at home, static IP. Several PCs on the network throughout the day. I have to unplug and replug the unit once in while to get it to reboot and connect. It's not a big deal, but the world is not perfect.

Other Thoughts: Great design, the tech support has been great, although I know the steps by heart, you still have to go through their troubleshooting flowcharts, duh... done it many times, but I don't expect them to know my skill with these units, and trust me when I say I got a 'bad' one. (only one unit over the years)

Pros: Relatively easy to install for non-technical users
Nicely designed for the home office - compact, yet sturdy.

Cons: The installation instructions were vague, keeping in mind that I have little techincal experience when it comes to computers. Basically, I kept trying until whatever I did worked--now if I could just remember what I did!

Other Thoughts: Having little technical experience, I was still able to install the device with relative ease. It works great hard-wired to my son's desktop and wirelessly with both my ACER laptop (purchased from NewEgg) and my daughter's ACER laptop (purhased from Office Depot).

Rating + 5 Extremely Good Router

Pros: Very cheap for what you are geting in the router, easily 'upgradeable' with custom firmware should you wish to go that route, cooler (heat-wise) than the older WRT54G routers (which were what these were called years ago)

Cons: None, as long as you can get the special 'super-antennas' for this (omnidirectional antennas) that Newegg used to sell for this but is not anymore.

Other Thoughts: This is an extremely good router, almsot plug&play totally, it is exceedingly simple to set up the router if you just want a basic encrypted Wi-Fi network and has the most of the 'power tools' that most users would wish to use built-into the Linksys Firmware, plus you can expand on that with some custom firmware like DD-WRT/etc.

Pros: Speed decent for Price.

Cons: Drops packets and connectivity on a somewhat frquent basis ( about once a week). Easy to recover (unplug power cord, count to 10, plug back in)

Other Thoughts: Seems to work well. Does seem to drop connectivity on about a once a week basis, but easy enought to recover by unplugging the power cord, counting to 10, and reconnecting back up. Don't know if newer "N" equivalent models are any better with staying connected. Excellent price from NewEgg as usual. Quick delivery. It works.

Pros: Shipping was fast.

Cons: Price was a bit much. Slowed my download speed down by half. Very disappointed.

Other Thoughts: On the Docsis 3 connection I have my downloads average 75 Mbps on my old Linksys BEFSR41 router. I needed this WRT54GL for wifi around the house. The wifi works fairly well if I don't get further away than fifty feet, but the wired ports slowed my speed down to around 32 Mbps. I spent an hour on the phone with a script reading foreigner trying to resolved the issue to no avail. Updated the firmware to the latest, but it was no help. Not sure i I'm going to keep it or trade up for an n rated router.

Pros: Easy to set up out of the box

Cons: No cons yet.

Other Thoughts: Bought the router knowing firmware could be changed. But I'm going to run the stock firmware and see how it does. But instantly I was able to get a strong wifi reception in my computer room. My main router is 5 rooms away.

My previous router was a wrk54g and reception was terrible in that room. I did finally find a firmware that wouldn't lock up router but wifi connection was bad.

Bought this router due to all the good reviews. Plugged it up and set it up and 3 mins later I had awesome reception in that room.

For the people that don't know how to set up a router. Google it, you don't even need to use the disk. Log into router and set your connection. I am using PPPOE att dsl connection on mine.

Pros: Very flexible in terms of usability. Tomato firmware works great. Using as a Wireless Ethernet Bridge to stream downstairs instead of running cable or buying a more expensive bridge.

Cons: some initially but none with the 3rd party firmware.

Other Thoughts: Initially I always disliked Linksys but after buying a Netgear Gigabit Router for DSL, I wondered what I would do with this and I found the Tomato firmware to make this a WEB and hooked it up to a Tivo and Sony BluRay player downstairs. Streams great, way to go all around.

Pros: Replaced another router seamlessly - installed and configured for Wi-Fi available again within 5 minutes. Looks more industrial than my previous router - a sign of a quality networking product.

Cons: None really. I've yet to "experiment" with this router using custom firmware - not sure I need to - but I hear doing this voids the manufacturer warranty.

Other Thoughts: I had no time for the replacement process so I purchased a Belkin N router locally. Installed in minutes, works great, all the features of the Linksys (and more) at a lower price.

Pros: Very reliable router, works as advertised without any glitches or drops. Good range, always up and running. Upgraded to DD-WRT which works great, and running AES and all is well. Construction design is well thought out with raised legs and vents on both the bottom and top to ensure good ventilation and the unit stays cool to the touch, unlike other routers that I have had.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Replaced another unit which had given several good years of service, but the amplifier for the antenna was weakening as seems to be the case with most home wireless routers. This is a top rated router for a reason, and after all, just having the wireless network up and running without having to do anything is what I need and expect.

Pros: One of the last Linksys wireless routers that you can easily buy brand new....that runs DD-WRT still. It gets 5 stars from me just on that alone. Paid $60 for this, and not complaining.

Cons: A bit on the expensive side, as far as wireless G routers go. Could probably find a new, cheap G router for like $40 these days...but then it probably can't run dd-wrt.

Other Thoughts: Same cons as any other cheap consumer router...you get what you pay for. Limited to B/G wireless can be a drag sometimes, especially if you live in a large house, or too much interference from other devices if you lived in a tight apartment complex.

Pros: The biggest plus for this router, as others have said, is that it takes to third-party firmware flashes like a fish to water. I'm running the latest version of Tomato on it, and it simply *rocks*. I've even written a script to reset my DSL modem when it locks up.

Cons: Manufacturers don't use firmware as nice as Tomato (or other such third-party firmware). Or hardware as nice as this, for that matter.
