Nice
Pros: Rock solid reliablility. Port Mirroring (wireshark at 1Gig...I mean come on this is worth the $100 alone), multicast filtering, VLAN, VLAN trunking, all nice. If it threw in a NAT feature I am sure it would grow the kitchen sink.
Cons: Cost & non intuitive interface for VLAN. It says Cisco but you should know better, Linksys is usually easier to configure than Cisco but this time I am wrong. There are a lot of Cisco features that this will not do.
Other Thoughts: I have no clue about the other reviewers but I had to leave a comment. We use these at my job. We buy them in lots of 100+ and I don't think we have had a single failure. They get put in musty basements and just work. We push lots of multicast traffic and needed something to do IGMP snooping. We rarely use a Gig node on it but have done some stress testing w/out a problem. These things make some nagging issues (multicast packet loss) just go away and keep extra traffic off nodes that don't need it. I wish I could say I am buyest (I don't get paid that much). Perhaps Newegg got a few bad batches?!? Really I would love to have this in my house. They are FAR more reliable than the $15 switch that we normally use (no big surprise).

Great features, but undependable
Pros: The feature set is fantastic. They do port spanning (for packet sniffing), VLANs, port trunking, do not need a power brick (use PoE), quiet. I had one of these on my desk for several years at a previous employer. I set up trunks to multiple networks and this guy seemed to keep the traffic segregated appropriately.
Easy to RMA through Linksys when they fail.
Cons: VERY, VERY unreliable. In the two years that I used these, I had at least three burn out. I kept one in operation and a spare so that I could stay live while I sent one back to Cisco for replacement. The last one seemed to last much longer than the others.
Other Thoughts: When the switch goes, it is hard to diagnose without removing from the network. Mine was hard to access, so I got to the point that it was always the first thing to look at when things weren't working.
Think twice before buying without a warranty. NewEgg is a good choice!

Failure within 8 months
Pros: Fairly inexpensive. can receive power over ethernet to power the device which saves running power if none available. Second device hasn't failed yet.
Cons: Does not power POE devices, which I originally thought was the case. Failed within 8 months and was replaced under waranty, runs incredibly hot which may have contributed to it's early demise. I now keep the replacement on a wire rack with airflow all around it instead of on top of other warm equipment.
Other Thoughts: Although most of my tech purchases come from newegg I purchased this elsewhere, the eggs are for Linksys not Newegg

Dont do it...
Pros: fast Cheap Managed Switch (192.168.1.2540
Cons: not reliable I have used 2 of these at my house as has a coworker (I am a Network administrator) It may work great for a short time, but ALL of them started having problems. Inconsistent ping, would not permit DHCP, You name it. I thought it couldent be the nice switches. I even started running cables in case my tester was wrong... It was the switches.
Other Thoughts: I am currently using a 3com and a dlink. I considered them lesser switches before, but the actually work!

Linksys switch stopped working, too.
Pros: When it worked...
Cons: Bought two - five port version and eight port version. Five port version died in months - none of the ports worked. Eight port version died tonight after less than a year. I have cheap, cheap gear I bought years ago that still works, why won't a 'cisco'/ linksys device work after a couple of months, or after just a year?
Other Thoughts: (I'll tell you why - because Cisco doesn't make this gear, Linksys does, and you get what you pay for, not the name on the box. Good move Cisco.)

Junk
Pros: Alot of features for a tiny device
Cons: We have somewhere between 15-20 of these units deployed over the past year. 6 months ago we replaced 3 all with the same problem none of the ports worked.
Right now I have 6 more on my desk ready to RMA. the failure rate is not acceptable.
Other Thoughts: I did not purchase these from newegg.

Good switch
Pros: Works fine, no problems.
Cons: Why aren't decent GigE switches cheaper?

As expected, but one unit failed
Pros: VLANs: Good for partitioning network traffic. Small form factor and low power making it ideal for embedded applications. Low cost.
Cons: One of our two units died after 1-2 months. No SNMP. Supports only 16 Multicast Groups with respect to IGMP snooping.
Other Thoughts: Except for unit failure, what I would expect for the price. Manual is OK, but could use improvement. Hard to get deeper technical detail about the device. Specifically, what chip is used and a data sheet for that chip.

Stopped working - other model works
Pros: Good features for the price - nice form factor. Good manual.
Cons: This 8 port model died on me after a few months. (I bought a 5 port model at the same time which still works.) I bought mine elsewhere though. So disappointed that it powers up but won't work, I didn't go through the RMA process with Linksys - who wants the hassle? When products don't do what they should or fail for no reason in no time, then it's time to shop other designs. That's why I don't buy Netge*r anymore.
Other Thoughts: Great price point for this kind of device - wish it just worked. I could have used two more at work, and I know ten guys who would have liked something similar.

Great Switch-- Poor Reliability
Pros: If you need a managed switch, this is a good one. Lots of features, low price. It served me well right up to the point it failed. Mine failed in less than a year, so the warranty is good -- Newegg is shipping the replacement. Newegg is definitely a 'pros'.
Cons: Failed after 8 months. (keep your old one around for a replacement when this one fails :)
