Rating + 1 Drops Wireless Connection

Pros: Ethernet works perfectly.

Cons: Wireless connection drops all the time. Random disconnects from the router. I have multiple laptops and am using both the G and the N networks. Laptops drop wireless connection at the exact same time.

Other Thoughts: I have updated the firmware and it still isn't working. It is very disappointing because I have always purchased from Linksys. I might have to return this or get one that is not dropping connection all the time.

Rating + 5 pretty good

Pros: I was considering using ddwrt, but after i updated the linksys/cisco firmware I had all of the options that I need. My laptop has been connected for more than 24 hours and hasn't shown any drops in the logs. It's really fast and works well with my other routers acting as WAPs. It looks nice where it is too and just seems to add more visual appeal to my desk. I tested the storage link and it works really well also, but I'm not too worried about storage at this point.

Cons: It didn't come with a stand...had to use one from an older router.

Other Thoughts: Wish it came with a stand. The power brick for this thing is actually bigger than the one for my x200. Something I found amusing.

Rating + 5 Fantastic router !

Pros: This router worked right out of the box , took 10 minutes to set up and have running . Did not use the cd , logged into 192.168.1.1 and set up .
Great range , no more congestion , video , voip mp3 on one chanel , surfing on the other . In all 8 computers running smoothly , not one had trouble hooking up wireless ,and a 500gb hard drive
Don't understand all the neg reviews , must have been defective units . That or the cd install messes things up ? Will soon use ddwrt to see how much more it can do . If you can find one of the wrt600n get it ! Tried a wrt610 , this blows it away .

Cons: wish it came with a stand , used the one from my old wrt300n , worked , lets it run cooler.
wish it had detachable antennas

Other Thoughts: best home router I have ever used , and I have had d-link netgear and belkin .

Rating + 4 Solid product

Pros: Works great. I installed DD-WRT firmware on the unit immediately after powering it up. Bandwidth and throughput are as good or better than the WRT350N I was using.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: DD-WRT really adds to the capability of these higher end devices.

Rating + 5 Excellent Router

Pros: - Wireless-N
- Wide-band 40Mhz
- WPA2-AES/Enterprise and RADIUS
- Built-in NAS via USB storage
- Does the job
- Connection never drops
- Looks good

Cons: - None... yet

Other Thoughts: Linksys redeems itself. If anyone remembers owning the Linksys WRT54s... you know what I mean. No more random connection drops. ICMP echo filter only filters ICMP echo requests for the router, NOT networked computers.

Rating + 5 Linksys WRT600N

Pros: Great true dual-band that runs N, G, simultaneously without a hitch (takes little tweaking). Gigabit routing, firewall, USB storage and built well. It’s got a bad rap with some, however in my opinion, with a little expertise, it a snap to set-up and has worked primo for me getting insane mbps bandwidth speeds simultaneously running both N, & G together on both wireless 2.4 & 5 Ghz respected frequencies on a fairly complex business network.

Cons: Must have at least v1.01.35 build 5 or newest firmware. If you call Linksys, they want you to “tone-down” for more compatibility. Run this router all-the way open like it should be! Unless you pay $$$ for commercial routers you just don't have the luxury of an on/off switch. Do not use the setup CD, it's a joke.

Other Thoughts: I would take this router over the 610N any day. I don't like the dummied-down version of the 610N and prefer the 600N features/functions much better.

It’s sad tech companies have to sell so many people dumb-downed versions of originally great designed products. Most consumers just don’t have the patience or insight to learn how to use some tech products that is are a “little sophisticated”. This product kick's, and yes it is a "little sophisticated" for those who are looking for dumb-down product I would buy something that has has large green buttons and smiley faces. It's sad Linksys sent this great product out-to-pasture.

Rating + 1 Not even close

Pros: N capibility, Gigabit routing capibilites, USB port, Stylish, Dual Band

Cons: Firmware is terrible, didn't come with DD-WRT, drops 2.4 ghz connection every now and then, didn't do what was advertised right out of the box.

Other Thoughts: Cisco being the industry leader, I expected a lot more from them. I would at least expect it to work out of the box. The firmware is terrible, it would configure correctly until I installed DD-WRT. However once I installed DD-WRT things started to work a lot better. It's configurable now, I have a lot more features, and the connection doesn't drop any where near as much.

Still doesn't work the way it should for the price you pay.

Rating + 5 Fast, Reliable Dual-Band Wireless N!

Pros: I really did just drop in the CD, run the installation program, connect up the router, and go from there. I did the advanced stuff online (flashed firmware to latest offered by Linksys) and then connected up the rest of the new gear to my other computers and to a newer HP printer that allows a wireless connection. The 600 provides a fast and reliable dual-band wireless N connection. I bought 2 of the WUSB300N devices at the same time for my other two computers. Direct comparison - my old Linksys G router (WRT54G or similar) would not reliably maintain a connection with my computer in the basement. Using same computers and merely swapping out the router gear for the new N standard gave me a solid wireless connecttion to the basement - and I had no need to move anything.

Cons: None really at this point except with reagrd to OS choice. I found it far easier to set all the wireless-connected computers up under Win Vista Premium 32b (my HTPC) or Win XP MCE (my basement computer), than under Win XP Pro 64b (What I first tried on my new HTPC). In Vista, control of the 300's is done by Windows and I don't even see the Linksys app pop up. In XP Pro 64b, the Linksys app would flash in and out even with a connection made... Distracting for sure. In contrast, this new router is controlled by a computer that is still running XP Pro 32b with SP3 and it all works fine - even the Linksys network monitoring software runs without a hitch. Go figure, but I think this is really an issue with driver compatibility for Win XP Pro 64b, YMMV.

Other Thoughts: I bought all this router hardware along with the parts to build a new HTPC so I had quite a tech-frenzy last weekend putting it all together and getting it running. I considered the sleeker-looking 610 but maximum PC really likes the 600 - which with its antenna array looked more serious to me as well - so I bought it - for more money (like $60 more as Newegg was offering a solid rebate on the 610). Next stop - the new Linksys home media system that needs a dual-band wireless N connection to work best...

Rating + 5 No problems here!

Pros: Upgraded from a WRT54G and the difference is like night and day. I no longer have lag issues when watching Netflix movies on the Xbox 360 over a wireless connection. Wired connections can take advantage of gigabit Ethernet for speedy file transfers.

Cons: It's expensive and I don't like the Linksys firmware. I might flash DD-WRT on it soon.

Other Thoughts: Great router, I just wish it was a bit more affordable.

Rating + 5 Deserves my 5 eggs

Pros: Solid connection. Firmware with more options than you will ever need. Excellent wireless performance. Tons of security features. Gig switch a huge performance boost over my old 10/100 switch. It looks like a battlestar ship. It's listed on the best-of-the-best for MaximumPC.com

Cons: The CD is worthless, but you should have already known that. The firmware updates aren't coming out on a regular basis. I don't have any specific issues that need addressing from a firmware patch, but i like it when a company is releasing consistent updates to improve the product. That isn't happening. I patched it the day I got it, and haven't seen a single update since.
Price.... it hurts.

Other Thoughts: It gets my 5 eggs seal of approval. I haven't had a single dropped wireless connection and I love the gig switch. I'm an IT tech so the setup was intuitive to me, but if you're thinking about popping the CD in and that it will magically configure your network, you're smoking something. This router is designed to be configured MANUALLY... BY HAND. Ditch the CD in the trash, dive into the web-based configuration, and see just how well this router can treat you.

Rating + 1 Not very reliable

Pros: OK speed with DD-WRT

Cons: Poor firmware from linksys.

Other Thoughts: The transfer speeds with the linksys firmware would be very sporadic. The system goes very fast and then the connection drops for 10 or 15 seconds. DD-WRT firmward works better but it's not perfect. Linksys should do a better job on their firmware, especially with a top of the line product.

Pros: It's a Linksys, was once the best but now???

Cons: Unreliable connections. Throttles bandwidth on sustained downloads. Customer support horrible...

My second Linksys router in less than a year. I bought a WRT150N before this one and it's radio went south. It's why I bought this one. I guess Linksys no longer makes good products anymore...

Pros: It's a Linksys. Should be good but...

Cons: This router is highly unreliable. I am forced to reboot this router daily due in order to achieve the 16Mbs that I pay for via Comcast. if I don't this router will default to 3Mbs and that's just not right...

Rating + 5 solves xbox wireless issue

Pros: Relatively easy to configure through the web administration. Didn't bother using the CD with "easy" setup after reading other negative reviews. I'm able to connect my xbox 360's wireless adapter to the A/N band. This appears to work much better than with my previous WRT54G router (I experienced lag with it).

Cons: Nothing so far. Work as I hoped/expected using Linksys firmware.

Other Thoughts: I'm hoping this router will work well for a few years while I add a gigabit NAS and additional computers. My wife's laptop easy connected over the G network. I did appreciate being able to name the network's on each wireless band separately to know which one I am connecting devices to.

Rating + 2 Nothing but trouble

Pros: Sleep design and dual band radio are nice pros. Also the LED's on the front are useful to check the status of the router.

Cons: Needs to be restarted sometimes everyday other times every month. Also the firmware is horrible. Linksys really needs to step their game up with keeping their routers updated and running smooth. Also the USB port doesn't work amazing, speeds are VERY slow. Also if you check DD-WRT's firmware site they warn you that you loose many features if using their firmware, so I have stayed away from it. Also the button on the top is basically usless and I couldn't believe that Linksys actually expected me to install their router setup software. It is not necessary nor recommended to be installed as you can do everything from inside the admin controls easier and faster then from the program. Also the router is quite hot on the top where the vent is, DO NOT cover it with anything.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line is that it looks better than it works. I wouldn't recommend this router for anyone who has a high knowledge of networks and is looking to do more than the basics. For the price I payed when it came out of about $250 I do not feel that I was getting enough for my money.

P.S. - As my last router was bricked and I became fed up with dealing with it, this new router was purchased out of frustration and was not what I expected.

Rating + 5 Solid Performer

Pros: HUGE throughput, you wouldn't think a sub-$500 device would have the backplane to handle multiple high-speed streaming connections, but this does. Enterprise level encryption, on-board FTP server, DD-WRT compatibility, USB port, gigabit wired and A/B/G/N wireless; all combined with some of the best fixed-antenna coverage I have ever used. There is nothing this router does that it does not do well. Even wiping out Linksys firmware (which was surprisingly functional for Linksys) to put on DD-WRT was flawless.

Cons: Doesn't come out of the box with DD-WRT. Also, no built in POE, but I can deal with having to run a separate power line to it or buying an adapter, it was never built to be a remote AP in the first place. Linksys tried to "replace" it with the 610N, and failed, signal coverage is wretched in the 610N. Buy the 600N, its actually the better (best) device.

Other Thoughts: I work with a wide variety or wireless devices, ranging from throw-away netgear, to mobile phones with wi-fi connection broadcasting, to full on Cisco enterprise routers and APs; I always look forward to customer's that use Linksys. Its a two step process, load DD-WRT, painlessly control every system aspect.

Rating + 5 Fast

Pros: Using 5GHz radio in N-only mode with an Intel 4965agn adapter, I was getting solid 100mbits/sec on upload and download tests (separate runs, large files). At the other end of the house from the wrt600n, it dropped to 75mbits/sec. I tried out the dd-wrt firmware, but since I had hardware version 1.1, things were not optimal and I switched back to the Linksys firmware. I have not had any issues with the stock firmware.

Cons: I bought the refurbished version of this, but the radios were bad. I used the Linksys online tech support chat and was able to get a case number in a few minutes. I then filled out the RMA online (takes a few minutes for the case number to become active, BTW). I elected for the cross-ship method, which is secured with a credit card charge (not hold) of $190.99. They shipped out a replacement unit in a few days through UPS ground and I got it a few days later. The new one works fine. I was upset on getting a faulty unit, but I was happy with the support.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's return policy is very good, Linksys appears to have half-way decent support in place and the company will not be going away any time soon. So if you have problems with your router, I would not hesitate to try a replacment unit or if you have compatibility issues, return it for another product.

Rating + 5 Worth every penny

Pros: Like most of Linksys' WRT series routers, this is definitely a winner as far as ease of use goes. Never had any problems with this router since day one and I've owned it for a fairly long time now. Definitely worth the extra coin for this one. I had previously bought a couple Belkin routers at approximately the same price and had both of them fail on me. This router saved me in that situation.

Cons: Although the different things you can configure are much more plentiful than the average Belkin or D-Link router, there are several things that it is still lacking.. I wish there were more testing options available in the diagnostics pages of the firmware.

Other Thoughts: Installing DD-WRT firmware on this device can unlock its power, although it's not really necessary for the average user. I would recommend this to anyone over any other SOHO router right now.

Rating + 5 Solid Router

Pros: I bought this router to replace my aging WRT54G v2. The router required zero setup in order to function. Plugged in the router, then powered on the PC. Everything was up and running with no problems. The router could easily be logged into via a web browser after I was connected.

The performance of the router is very good with both the Linksys and DD-WRT firmwares. I flashed mine out of the box to DD-WRT v24 SP1. It's been running very solid with no degraded performance, resets, or dropped wireless connections.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Linksys will try and make you install their software to assist with the setup of the router. A big orange sticker is placed on the product that tells you the CD must be installed prior to use. I found that this was not needed and is probably a waste of time.

Rating + 5 Don't listen to the naysayers

Pros: It is supported by DD-WRT, has Dual Band Wireless N, great range, and has an incredibly great Broadcom Driver.

Cons: It comes with Linksys stock firmware.

Other Thoughts: If you are reading all the negative reviews, take a quick note: None of them seem to really know what they are talking about, and none of them have flashed the firmware to install DD-WRT (Google it).

This is a serious router, and with the proper firmware and proper setup, can run your network without any trouble what so ever.

If you have no experience with routers, no experience flashing firmware, and are just buying this b/c it is the "best" then move along, because you will have issues.

If you are serious about your network (home / small business), and are willing to take the steps needed, then this router will do absolutely everything you will need it to.

Pros: Looks sweet. Has all the features you're looking for.

Cons: Where to being?

1) Firmware has all kinds of bugs, but Linksys has not made a single revision sinec Feb of '08. Linksys has truely abandoned this product.
2) Expensive
3) Linksys Tech Support doesn't care about your issues with it.
4) Unstable

Other Thoughts: I installed the latest version of DD-WRT (linux based replacement firmware), and this router is more stable than its ever been. Its a tricky process with this router, with a chance to brick it, but I had fun doing it.

This prodcut overall is not worth the price, and I cannot recommend it.

Pros: Better connections than 'flagship' WRT610 due to external antennas; has third-gen dd-wrt support, whereas 610 has 'iffy' beta; runs NAS fine; supports load prioritizing for video streaming...

Rating + 1 Overpriced, overrated, overpriced

Pros: Looks nice, comes from a company that once made respectable networking hardware.

Cons: Connection fluctuates from one to four bars all the time.
Needs constant reboots (from once every few hours to once every few days).
Even when doesn't need reboots uPnP stops working for no reason.
No reset option in the GUI, but who cares since the manual reset doesn't really reset it anyways, you'll need to unplug it.
The GUI is horrible.

Other Thoughts: This router is serviceable, and would probably warrant a rating of two if it was not incredibly overpriced.

I am shocked this router still has a 4/5 rating. Everyone that has had horrible experience with it needs to write a review.

Rating + 5 Wonderful product...

Pros: If you know how to use a router and wireless networking properly, instead of off-the-shelf knowledge, this router is the way to go. The stock firmware has worked perfectly. We have been using 14 of these around the local environment and they deliver exactly what they promise.

Cons: None, unless you don't like the number of antennas (which are necessary), or you are ignorant (ignorant=lacking knowledge). Leave installation to a certified CS / IT / or CF pro.

Other Thoughts: Tech professionals who work in the industry, who want the ultimate performance possible without going to the next level (the ultra-expensive SPD's) will appreciate this. It even passed an exhaustive security test. Not for the casual user, unless they want to learn about the technology.

Pros: Nice and fast when it works.

Cons: I needed to RESET it once a WEEK!! And now after 27 days of use, it no longer assigned IP address's to Wireless devices when WPA2 encryption is used.

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes for the Linksys and Cisco names on the box, but then again... This turns out to be a terrible router. There isn't even a firmware upgrade that can be tried.

This is getting returned to Best Buy!!

Rating + 1 Avoid this unit. The Linksys firmware is horrid

Pros: NewEgg ships fast.

Cons: Not worth the box it came in. Constantly freezes up, stops routing, and is generally unstable. No new firmware released from Linksys to correct issues. Seems to have been a real rush job.

Other Thoughts: I think Linksys banged this one out on a napkin at dinner and rushed it into production the next day. The firmware is very buggy. Resets don't actually reset it. And for no plausible reason, it just stop working with no notice. All the lights and indications are that its working but it simply stops responding to all network traffic. I gave up on it and temporarily replaced it with a WRT310N running DD-WRT which is rock solid.

Pros: Full of features. Great performance in a/b/g/n. Good resistances to Microwave noises, when streaming media real-time. Gigabit port certainly help for streaming/copying large files. One solid product I ever own.

Cons: Stock Firmware is a piece of junk. File serving via USB port is practically useless.

Other Thoughts: If you planning on own one of this baby, make sure you use the DD-WRT firmware to maximize the features of broadcom 4750 chip. It is much better firmware comparing to the stock firmware.

Rating + 5 LINKSYS WRT600N IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: Although the looks of a product does not sway my choices with respect to electronics - the unit looks great! As for performance and ease of installation, it was fairly easy. It helped to be familiar with my computer and wireless networks first but I can honestly say it was easy to install the software and the hardware.

Cons: If I had to come up with a negative I'd have to say that it would have been nice for a novice user to have some sort of self install button on the hardware. I do not have any personal cons.

Rating + 3 Great, but needs a bit of QC

Pros: Ungodly fast, wireless-n, looks spiffier than the other Linksys wireless-n routers (less like some retro thing from the '80s and more like something that routs internet to multiple computers).

Cons: Throw away the ethernet cable that comes with it. I had a great wired connection...Until I switched cables so that I had a cable running a shorter distance between the modem and router. Then my internet started working sporadically for a few moments, then cut out entirely until I switched the cables back.
The manual was not very helpful at all, especially in finding out what the button on the top of the unit does (the one that has the word "Reserved" written around it).

Other Thoughts: Linksys needs to work harder on testing those cables. I thought that after all the defending of my purchase that I did to my father, I'd have to pack it up and exchange it for the other one they had at Best Buy.

Pros: two desktops wired, 1 desktop *about 30' away* wireless n,
work laptop wireless g, all connect. I have had no dropped signal. I tested the routers range with my laptop. Awesome 200-250' radius. I was able to stream dvd quality internet movies from old g router to g adapter on my desktop but would buffer and take so much time to let download and now no buffering issues. Havent had the op to try storage link.

Cons: fixed antenna's. I like to have options and not being able to change and try different antenna's would have been a nice option.
No wall mount
POE would be nice.

Other Thoughts: shipping was fine.

Rating + 2 To Buy or Not To Buy

Pros: Media Server; Gigabit ethernet; MIMO,; Wireless a/b/g/n capable; QoS, and the typical, halfway decent Linksys support add up to make this product sound like a great deal.

Cons: One of the main problems is that you cannot run the N and b/g modes simultaneously without experiencing significant connection problems. If you only have N capable devices, then this may be the router for you. If you have b/g devices, go with the standard WRT54G. I have to state all of this with a great deal of remorse as I purchased the product a few months ago and now I am stuck with a subpar router that cost a pretty penny.

Other Thoughts: If you already own this device, disable the wireless N broadcast and you should see a return to normal speeds for wireless G.

Rating + 1 $200 For a Toxic Piece of Plastic

Pros: The joy of buying a product, tracking it on UPS website and finally picking up the box at your front door. Oh yeah, and the charismas like feeling when you open the box.

Cons: Guaranteed to shatter all your dreams of upgrading to a Wireless N and a Gigabit LAN network. Will give you Endless pain and suffering as long as you keep hoping that anything good will come out of this Piece Of Plastic.
I have been suffering for about two months with this Plastic now. There is no single feature on this Plastic that works as it is supposed to and any reason you wanted to upgrade to this Plastic will not work.
Wireless N would have worked if I could go to the room next door.
Gigabit connection works fine and you will see your connection as 1Gbs with the router but it will take 10 tries to open a network folder and then you can not transfer any file without losing connection to the other computer.
Turn on the Security features to commit Su****
And if all this is not enough, hook up the network storage.

Other Thoughts: Bought it because of the Cisco Name Brand. My 5 year old 11Mbs D-Link work better than this. I did not return it in hopes that one day I will make it work but i was wrong and now after two months I can not even return.

Pros: none as it did not want to stay connected (signal strength poor)

Cons: will not stay connected. range is poor. I went back to my old Linksys router and all is good. I wanted the faster speed of the new router but what good is it if the range is so poor. I can not even go to the room right next to the router room and it just has a 2x4 wall.

Rating + 2 Sparkling, unless you want QoS /and/ Gigabit LAN

Pros: Many features and options. Provides options to cover almost every possible home networking situation.

Cons: If you enable QoS and assign a High or Medium priority to Port 4, you will find that transfer speeds between LAN ports drops to ~1.2MiB/s. With QoS disabled, transfer speeds between LAN ports was around 40-50 MiB/s in my environment.

Other Thoughts: I bought the router because it provided QoS support and a 4-port Gigabit switch. Since I can't use both together, I've RMA'd the product.

Pros: Does what it is advertise to do. Easy setup, I was up and running with in 15 minutes of opening the box.

Cons: Price is somewhat high, but you are also paying for the name (Cisco). I am still working with the network storage part. Well, I haven't really spent too much time trying to figure it out; I am sure once i get some time to sit down, I'll get it done.

Rating + 5 No issues. Works as adverstised

Pros: Easy set-up. Except for the normal pass phrase input errors, all devices hooked up the first time, including the Linksys 802.11n USB adapter I bought with it (combo deal). Using non-ISP DNS servers with DHCP just fine (contrary to other reviews).

Cons: Very few yet, if any. I wish there were more than 10 DHCP reservations, but that's a very minor complaint. I wish the router administration pages were a little better, including an easy way to see connected devices. Oddly, my Wii can't see the the access point, altho my PS3 and laptop can see it just fine, with good signal strenght. Must be an issue with the Wii

Other Thoughts: So far so good. I have several devices hooked up to both bands. Speedy delivery by Newegg, as usual.

Rating + 4 Works Great!!

Pros: Dual Band,USB Storage access (have 120 gig laptop drive in a enclosure attached), wired I average 27000/30000 kbps, wireless (270mbps) 10000/15000 kbps. Movies/shows/videos etc is just like wtaching a dvd. Wirless is on a second floor 30/40 feet from router no issues.

Cons: Setup was not a breeze. Out of the box had to run a frimware upgrade. Router firmware was 1.01.36 build 3. On the Linksys site the most recent version was 1.01.36 build 3 date 2/29/2008. I bought the combo which came with the WUSB600N. I could not get the WUSB600N to connect. Had to do the firmware upgrade for it to work. Just dont think you should have to do a firmware upgarde right out of the box. Other than that it is great!

Other Thoughts: Have bough alot through New Egg. This is the firs time I had back boxing. Box looked like it had been kicked around. The router and the other wirless adapters were just put in the box free to bounce around. First thumbs down for how it was shipped.

Rating + 1 Horrible - Go Ask Linksys

Pros: Looks cool. Has dual bands along with wireless N.

Cons: It flat out doesn't work - and I had two of them. Now Linksys wants me to RMA out to them to ship me a third piece of junk and I'm debating just returning it. They want me to lose my router for weeks until the replacement arrives - impossible. First, the antennas are NOT replaceable with higher gain versions. Second, they are on the right side making them rather useless for a true spread. Third, I have had the same problems as others where IE and FF cannot access the setup after being able to once. Fourth, my replacement router refused to connect wirelessly even after spending 2 hours with tech support. Fifth and most important - my connections, even wired, were not speedy and seemed to be less than full capacity I had with the older Linksys router it replaced. I had a WRT54G and am ruing the day I thought of upgrading. I'm no rookie dealing with routers so this isn't a "setup issue" as others are claiming. There are either terrible problems with the router or quality control issues.

Other Thoughts: I've heard the hard drive link doesn't work reliably either. I believe it. I couldn't even get that far.

Pros: Good looking, simple instructions, easy to install.
Received it today, replaced an old Linksys router with it. Even following the instructions on the CD were simple. Had the old one removed, new one installed and running, both my wireless systems, my wired system and my Vonage in about 20 minutes. So far, I have no issues

Cons: Feet do not line up with the notches on the Linksys BEFCMU10 modem. Will have to configure something to raise the router up a bit for air flow.

Other Thoughts: Newegg does it again, great shipping, fast and no worries.

Rating + 1 Buyer Beware

Pros: Looks cool and great signal as long as you stay within a 5 foot radius of the router. Any further away or any obstruction renders the item useless.

Cons: Looks can be deciving however. I'm very experienced with these products. Owned lots of them. Opened box, plugged in network cable and began manual configuration of the router. Seemed to work okay, but noticed the time was wrong in my time zone. ?? Could never run both wireless bands 5/2.4 together. Not sure why. Great signal...if you're only two feet away. Second floor homes will be very dissapointed. Only one floor between me and router yields no connectivity.

Other Thoughts: You'd think that Cisco would do more to protect their name. I've never been able to figure out why this company Linksys puts out such bad products. It seems more time is spent on making sure the items look good rather than operate good.

Rating + 5 WRT goodness

Pros: Newegg is still shipping the V1 of the WRT600N. DD-WRT will work, but currently the LED lights aren't functional. The V1.1 doesn't have this issue as I understand it.

Gigabit, Wireless A, B, G, and N. 'Nuff said.

Cons: DD-WRT is still being worked out on it, and Linksys firmware (though pretty nice on this device) is still Linksys firmware. Thus I say it is still a Beta device. I bought one because Linksys has a habit of releasing good devices, then cutting the RAM and upgradability (VXWorks, the exception being the WRT54GL, my personal favorite device) and prices on the older, better devices skyrocket. I wanted a compatible device with DD-WRT, so I bought this now. If a newer version comes out that works better with DD-WRT, I will buy it to add to my 4 WRT54Gs (some just in switch mode), WAP55AG, and WRT600N-V1.

Other Thoughts: 32MB RAM, decent backplane. Not a CISCO branded device, but as good as one with alternate firmware. I use CISCO routers, switches, firewalls, and access points at work, and enjoy coming home to the powerful simplicity of my Linksys devices.

Pros: Nice Looking Package - 4-port Gig switch works fine

Cons: Wireless Speed not good - Wireless Range Not good. I am using just the 5GHz band N-Only. Very few obstructions cause significant signal loss. Speed not as good as my other linksys router running G only. Must reboot the router about every week as the management interface hangs and eventually locks up the entire router forcing a reboot.

Other Thoughts: I have always had good luck with LinkSys product and decided to give this high priced unit a try, even though there were many negative reviews. I've now tried. Don't make the same mistake

Rating + 4 Great router, features are old

Pros: This is one of the most stable Linksys products I have ever owned. We have it in a remote warehouse streaming 4 security cameras back to the main site 24 hours a day and it never drops its connection.

Cons: It still has the same old configuration options that you can find in older Linksys routers. You cannot filter incoming IP's which I need because I only want our main facility to be able to connect to the devices behind it. You also cannot limits the websites that it will allow its users to visit. Sure, you can block a few but I want to only allow a few.

Other Thoughts: Most of the D-Link N routers will allow you to do some of these more advanced configurations but I have found them to drop their connection requiring a physical power cycle. Not exactly idea for a remote location.

Pros: Nothing worth mentioning, to justify the pathetic firmware.

Cons: YOU CANNOT SET STATIC DNS!!!!!! Therefore, if you want to use opendns or anything like it, you're out of luck. Despite this being a known issue, Linksys has done nothing to fix this glaring hole. You can set your own DNS servers, but the router will ALWAYS use the DNS of your ISP.

Unacceptable

Cons: I RMA'd the first one for constantly dropping connections. the second has been up for 3 weeks. Home networking is very fickle. some computrers see each other some dont. pinging sees the IP but times out. totally unreliable.

Rating + 1 AVOID this like the plague!

Pros: When it did work, which was only for short periods, it was decently fast.

Cons: About everything!! Horrid product! I know what I am doing with these things, so I am not your average clueless joe. 1st off the unit doesn't even come with a manual. I found one online from the linksys site, but it only would open on adobe from the site one day out of the six I tried. Customer service was a joke... I clearly knew more about networking than the 18 year old I got on the phone. No help.
The Easylink software and user interface was about the most horrendous interface I have ever encountered. Frought with errors... I will never buy ANY Linksys product again.
The unit would work after a total reinstall and resetting of the router, for a few hours, then none of our comps (2 towers, 1 laptop) could connect to the router. I even installed the router on 2 different computers, same result.
In fact, we seemed to be getting crosstalk from a router in an adjacent apartment, despite the WEP and WPA2 security settings!

Other Thoughts: After warring with this router for a week for multiple hours, updating firmware, rebooting and reinstalling, etc... I had it and returned it. It was replaced with a Netgear WRN3500... I had the Netgear installed in 20 mins and it has better range, faster speeds, and has yet to have any issues for us.

After this experience I will never buy any Linksys product again. You would do well to avoid this router.

Rating + 5 The best wireless router I had so far

Pros: Lots of feature, dual radio, kinda cool looking

Cons: Less "g" range than other routers I had before, "n" is not final just yet.
The storage link is not reliable enough to be really useful.

Other Thoughts: I have a nice collection of wireless g routers at home (mostly Linksys and D-Link), but this seems to be by far the most reliable of all. I had no random reboots, dropped wireless (my wife did, but her tablet seriously needs replacing). Works well with both XBox Live and PSN, (both wireless) and my PC MMOs (wired).

Pros: 5Ghz - no more interference from any/everything, much better admin functionality (think windows xp home vs. pro)

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I tried to use this with my previous linksys' powersupply but to no avail. Make sure you use the included powersupply for this to work properly. I haven't tried the 'N' capability of this router, but the 802.11a works flawless. It is also great that you can separately turn on/off both radios (2.4 and 5Ghz).

Cons: Not many. Unit can get pretty hot. Have only had to reset once, and that was before the firmware upgrade.

Pros: Fast performance on A / N, only with Linksys USB Adapter.

Cons: Flaky, unstable configuration and management. Was never able to run two simultaneous radios with security at the same time. MAC address filtering never worked. Firmware update was available, but existing firmware would not allow it to be applied through TFTP or the web interface!

Other Thoughts: I was sorely dissapointed in this Linksys product - I'm going with a Netgear or TrendNet. Both the router and USB adapter have been returned to NewEgg - always great customer service.

Rating + 1 I take it back. (HORRIBLE)

Pros: psh. um. It turns on? it works half of the time? More like a tird tho.

Cons: pretty much everything. I maybe connected to 192.168.1.1 maybe twice. I tried using IE, FireFox, vista, xp, linux. I could never get back into the setup. Tried resetting it (which did nothing).

worst of all! the DHCP server, the thing that signs each computer a local IP, kept not working and using one IP address for all my computers on my network.

So I got my old WRT54G out, reconfigured it and sent this one back to best buy.

And Linksys support didnt even reply to my TWO emails

Other Thoughts: Sure. I could see. A small problem. But all of these? maybe in a 50$ router. but in a 180$?!?!?!?!! I mean c'mon.

The saying "you get what you pay for" isn't shown here.

Maybe it was just my router....But after linksys wouldnt reply to my emails....I said forget it. I have looked at other sites and seen people have encountered the same problems.

So i might try this router in a year when the firmware is better.

Rating + 2 Meerly adequate performance

Pros: Simultaneous 2.4 and 5 GHz bands
Storage link
Software sucked the settings of my old router and transfered them to the WRT600N - Cool!
Setup easy- but had to use the web page for advanced settings

Cons: Performance we poor for both 2.4GHz and 5 GHz compared to my old 2.4GHZ router. Newest firmware installed. Laptop with WPC600M adapter at 5 GHz only 20 feet away and configured for only N devices and set to Auto/Wide channel only showed 81 Mbps. On 2.4GHz set for mixed and auto showed 160 Mbps. No antenna configurations of the router made a difference. Old router in same location shows 300 Mbps. Range and throughput around house was consistently half of what the old had. Boxed up after a week of playing with it and pulled the oild one back out.

Other Thoughts: Might have something on the 5 GHz channel that interferes, but router is away from any portable phones (2.4Ghz), cel phones or microwave. Using wifi sniffer, I'm the only 5 GHz network in the neighborhood.

I really wanted to like this one.....

Pros: Looks Good, Strong Signal, the 5GHZ is great for streaming media.

Cons: Lackluster setup (avoid the setup disk altogether). The easylink program that comes with the setup disk is pretty weak. Having trouble picking up the signal 50 feet away (2GHZ) while going through two walls.

Other Thoughts: I am using this router as an access point (not my choice but my apt complex already has an internal network and everyone else's wireless was secured. After trying to use the setup disk and failing miserably I called linksys and spent over an hour on the phone with them until we were both able to figure out the manual setup. Overall I'm still happy and better this than a belkin.

Rating + 5 wow!!

Pros: CD instruction was great. Easily connected to my existing Dlink 4100 router and was up and running in about 5 min. Paired up nicely with Edimax 802.11b/g/n PCI card(EW-7728IN) and a SMC 802.11G PCMCIA card(SMCWCBT-G) which were bought at same time as router. Signal strength through entire house (4 floors) is 100%. Speed is very fast.

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: Being a first timer, I didn't know which router to get. I finally picked this one because of the dualband and price. I don't regret it at all. I was worried about the compatibility of the adapters I bought, to go with this router, mainly because of some of the bad reviews I have read about wireless routers in general.

Pros: This is a very good product. It works very good, as a matter of fact, perfectly. Got internet to work win cable connected in less than 4 minutes. Wi-Fi, in 10 minutes. I have a HP9700t and had it connected on 802.11N as far as 60 ft (OK that I only have 1 wall between…). But even though it is far better connection and range that my old WRT54G (I had a Expander to get to that range).

Cons: Read something about it dying after a few months, but that, only time will tell, because I own it for only 1 month.

Other Thoughts: Sorry to say, but if you read the manual, and know a bit about LAN and wireless… it’s a breeze.

Pros: Will RMA and see if the replacement is better

Cons: i bought this with 2 LINKSYS WMP300N PCI Wireless-N cards. it cant maintain a simple streaming 128 bit without dropping the signal every couple seconds. really annoying.
connection speed says 130-270 Mbps but through one ceiling and 15ft the transfer speed on a 1 gb file is only 5.6 Mbps.
between 2 walls and 40 ft the signal drops to 76 Mbps. NOT IMPRESSIVE. router is set to no encryption and only N. i hope the RMA will repair it but i doubt it

Rating + 3 Not worth the Money

Pros: Looks kind of cool. Dual wireless is a plus. Very fast.

Cons: I specifically bought this router for the USB link. I connected a usb drive and finally got it to work in about 2 hours. It would not let me network it. Once I got this thing working, I found that I could not save anything to the drive. I could view files but the router would not let me save to the drive, modify files, or anything else. The router would not let me take "ownership" of the drive and would not let me change the folder permissions. (access denied) even when logged in as administrator.

Other Thoughts: Tech support was an absolute joke. I talked to someone in a third world country, and he told me to call microsoft????????? After talking to another tech rep, they told me that they didn't know what the problem was. They were going to try to simulate this problem on an identical router to see if they could duplicate the problem. They were supposed to contact me within 24 hours. 1 week later no response. I love Linksys but this left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Pros: Linksys pwns. They are the best brand of router out there. simple. And this router does show it. ts pretty good. good connection all in my house.

Cons: "LELA" their networking program is a HUGE let down. didn't even find the router. But if you know what your doing and used to setting it up by 192.168.1.1 then its pretty much like other routers. Storage Link is a but confusing but read the manual and it cleans everything up. For me at least. And another thing the manual is on the CD. I'd like it to be in paper as well. Not really a Con, just not a pro. And I think they over charge a bit to much.

Other Thoughts: Overall If your looking for a good router, have some money to spend. Then this is a good pick. Linksys all the way. Belkin and netgear just kinda really suck lol.

Rating + 5 Works like a charm

Pros: Range is very good, Dual Band 2.4 & 5 Ghz. Very Easy setup. Up and running in no time.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: This is my third wireless N rounter. The other two would drop my internet connection every hour or so. So far this rounter hasn't drop my connection but only time will tell. One of the best features New Egg offers is letting user's review the products they purchased.

Rating + 5 Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy

Pros: Setup was extremely easy, It is very intuitive. I got a great price on the bundle and the wireless card is going to be worth sitting down at the pool. I have a usb flash drive acting as the storage link drive.

Cons: this thing looks kinda weird, i really like the way the business series's products look from linksys.

Other Thoughts: Just get it, the dual radio band is going to be great with a wifi phone like a skype service. You will be more than happy.

Rating + 5 Works great, simple installation but one quirk

Pros: Works well. Excellent up-time. No lost connections in its first month of operation. Very fast gigabit operation. Excellent wireless performance.

Cons: No wall mount. No vertical mount. Spring loaded feet swing out for wider foot print, but why?
Glitch Note: it is not enough for you to power down your modem adn router and then restart then in the same order. You must physically disconnect you computer's (or other device's) network cable from the back of the router and then reconnect (after router is turned back on). This is the only way the handshake between modem and router will consumate. Tech support is clueless about this. Once I discover this, I have used it repeatly with success.

Other Thoughts: Installation disk is not necessary if you know what you are doing. Access via 192.168.1.1, no username, admin for password. Set it up as you would any other router. Wireless setup is for two radios with two different SSIDs. Note setup glitch above.

Rating + 3 It's ok but has issues

Pros: Good range and speed

Cons: Setup takes entirely to long.
Linksys support is extremely difficult to reach.
It has DFS that the user cannot disable. Every time our cordless phone rings or we use it, the Linksys turns its wireless access off and I loose all wireless connections for duration of call. Takes about 5min for the router to turn wireless back on.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy this product again and will soon replace it.

Rating + 3 Installation is a Hassle

Pros: Really good range and speed compared to the WRT54G. Also bought the WUSB600N Adapter in the combo for a good price. Design and look is awesome.

Cons: Took too much time to setup, even though setup seems easy. The installation process was a hassle in itself, even following the directions exactly. Be prepared to set aside plenty of hours. I wish It was as easy to setup as some others claim, but for this instance it wasn't that easy.

Other Thoughts: Normally computers have to be wired first, before they can go wireless, which adds to the hassle of moving a mid tower PC across the house into a living room filled with electronics.

Rating + 3 Good Thing I've Some Experience

Pros: I bought this router and the matching WUSB600N adapter at the same time. The connection to my media center PC downstairs has gone from 1 Mps & virtually no connectivity to 270 Mps and 93% signal strength. Mission accomplished. This thing looks sharp too.

Cons: The setup program barely worked and I had to complete the setup by hand through the web browser. The "Linksys EasyLink Advisor" (LELA) is 100% useless. I've tried installing it several different ways and still all of the tabs are grayed out. And thus you dont get any features. I've tried tech support once (no help) and the community forum. Others are having the same problems but I dont see hardly any suggestions from Linksys. Speculations: During the initial install if you have 2 internet connections, an adapter and an ethernet connection, LELA may become hosed. Uninstall doesnt fix it so theres some cache files somewhere? Also LELA may not like the adapter built into my ASUS motherboard.

Other Thoughts: When I set up the adapter downstairs I connected to the 5 Ghz radio but put in the WEP 128 key for the 2.4 Ghz radio. My bad but it took it. So much for two distict networks.
So - router and adapter are okay but with LELA useless I have no network overview.

Rating + 5 Great Router

Pros: This dual band 2.4 and 5 ghz can be configured to run on both bands for mixed B, G and N devices. Or you can specify just the 5 ghz for just a pure N device connection. All the great speed and range of the 802.11 "N" kick in with the high 5 ghz band. This router is the one to get to really take advantage of the new "N" wireless spec. This baby is quick to install. Just follow the clear steps on the Easy Link installation CD.

Cons: No cons right now.

Other Thoughts: Hope it lasts six years as my old Linksys wireless B was still running strong when I decided to replace.

Rating + 4 Don't buy for Storage Link Capability!

Pros: Easily set up. Looks cool. Fast Wired. I haven't tested the wireless portion of the router yet.

Cons: Storage link does not work. If you can get it working, you can't rely on it and it is VERY slow. Needs major work via firmware release.

Other Thoughts: COOLER MASTER COSMOS 1000, ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP, PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz, OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666), EVGA GeForce 9600GT SSC 512MB, Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 750GB HD

Pros: WEP, WPA, and WPA-2 protection. 1Gig 4 port hug and USB 2.0 port. I am getting 270 MBPS using an inexpensive Airlink draft N PCI and also a USB draft N adapter. The speed is very good, its sweet.

Cons: No printed manual. The manual is on the disc, but sometimes it is nice to have it on paper.

Other Thoughts: The price for this router at FRY,s was $199.00 when I purchased this from NewEgg for $159.00 with free shipping. I was very pleased with the price and the overall quality of the router. You can't go wrong with this router.

Rating + 2 Poor Firmware

Pros: High Speed.

Cons: The firmware has a ton of bugs. I am using the latest from the Linksys site. These are the 2 that really stand out:

1. When you turn off the DHCP server, it "miraculously" turns itself back on and starts handing out IP addresses, thereby screwing up my network (I have a stand alone DHCP server on my network).

2. If you have DynDNS setup, the router sends a flood of updates anytime you make certain kinds of changes in the router GUI, causing DynDNS to block your account for abuse.

Event the stock WRT54Gx firmware was better than this piece of #$%$. I am thinking of returning it and keeping my WRT54GS running DD-WRT.

Other Thoughts: It's good for folks who want a simple plug and forget setup. It's not good for folks who want specific functionality.

I am disappointed with what Linksys is doing with their firmware these days, considering where they came from.

Rating + 4 Good Router, Need better Firmware

Pros: Great looking router, has good range and runs cool. Was easy to set up through the web interface (didn't use the sissy CD) and got it up and running in no time. Interface is pretty simple and similar to other linksys routers. I do not have any connection problems with my wireless devices or dropped signals. Love that the router has two separate Radios, one for 5ghz A/N and 2.4 ghz for B/G/N. So far no problems streaming Video's over my LAN.

Cons: The firmware is not the greatest. The USB storage link performs poorly and transfers files much slower than it should. If I need large files from my External USB drive, its easier to connect the drive to my computer than to use the storage link. There are occasional issues trying to detect the USB drive on my network. Takes fiddling to get it to work sometimes.

Other Thoughts: The router I received was Version 2. As soon as DD-WRT releases a firmware that works well with Version 2, I will update which should fix issues and add features making this purchase worth the price. I use my old WRT54GS (with DD-WRT firmware) as a wireless repeater and have no problems. Keep in mind, some cordless telephones use 2.4 ghz (bluetooth uses 2.4ghz too) and 5 ghz which can degrade the wireless performance of your network.

Rating + 1 Horrible router

Pros: Nice looking.

Cons: No 802.11N at 5 GHz. You need to download a patch from linksys in order for your laptop wireless card to work. If you want to buy a fancy-looking router which can give you 802.11a, g, N (only at 2.4GHz), Go ahead.

Linksys WPC600N can detect 802.11N only at 2.4 GHz
Intel 4965AGN on my DELL XPS M1530 can detect only 802.11a,g
Intel 3965ABG on my DELL Inspiron 6000 can detect only 802.11g.

In short, this router cannot give you what is claimed and you get 802.11a/g router at a much lower price and with much easier setup.

Rating + 5 Very nice router!

Pros: Excellent router! Updating my home system to include a homeserver an needed a better router with Gigabit capabilities. This does the job with no problems. Desktops, laptops, servers and modem all work together easily. The router just plugged right into my current network and took over. No hesitation.

Cons: A little pricey, but I have always had good luck with Linksys.

Other Thoughts: The limiting factor now is the server processor and memory lag.

Pros: Wireless speed and range are both excellent; very fast router with gigabit ports. Moderately easy to set up. Storage link is a handy feature to have.

Cons: No serious drawbacks found; somewhat expensive but an extremely fast, capable wired/wireless router/firewall.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor: download and read the manual before trying to set it up. With capability comes some complexity but overall fast and easy to set up if you are prepared.

Pros: -Ability to simultaneously run 2.4ghz and 5ghz wireless networks.
-Wirelessly streamed HD video from my server to a PS3 (AVCHD videos).
-Share files via Storage link.

Cons: -Signal range is below average. I'm only getting around 30-38% signal strength when communicating between this adapter and a Linksys WRT600N wireless router. Distance is less than 70ft. with one wall in between. My Netgear 802.11g router and gaming adapter was getting 85% signal strength on the same location.

But I guess it doesn't matter because I can stream HD videos with this setup even with only 30-38% signal strength. I couldn't do this with my 802.11g setup with 85% signal.

Rating + 5 270mbps is certainly better than 125!

Pros: I purchased a pair of laptops that had the intel 4965AGN wireless card. I found out, to my dismay, that unlike the Atheros based N card I had in my old Thinkpad (which would get 300mbps on the DIR-655), I only got 125mbps.
I wanted my 300mbps back. A little research showed me that I needed a 5.8ghz Wireless N router to get higher than 125mbps on the 4965AGN. My choices were the DIR855 and DGL4500 from DLink, a Buffalo that was nowhere to be found, a Netgear, and the Linksys WRT600N. The DGL couldn't do both 5.8 and 2.4 at the same time, and the DIR wasn't available yet. The WRT600N was the most affordable, so I bought it.

I connected my T61P and DV9548U laptops to the 5ghz band, and promptly got 270mbps. My wife's Acer and my Asus EEE still run in the old 2.4ghz G band. It works perfectly so far, and looks great sitting on my T61P's docking station, next to a black 40gb plugged into its storage link as a NAS.

Cons: Haven't figured out how to use the NAS part yet, but I've had it less than an hour, haven't read the manual.

Broadcomm chipset instead of Atheros, but that's just a matter of preference. It works, and range is as good as the DLink DIR655 I had before.

Also, a minor quibble, but the price dropped a few bucks between when I ordered it (Monday), and when I received it (Thursday). Luckily, Newegg was generous enough to refund me the difference, you guys are the best.

Other Thoughts: I work at a brick & mortar computer store, and have recommended the DLink DIR655 as the best wireless N router available. While it's still likely the best performance per dollar, if you need 5.8ghz, or want that extra speed out of your Centrino Duo-based laptop, go with this router.

Rating + 5 This router rocks!

Pros: Wireless N draft 2.0. dual band(most likely able to be upgraded by firmware to non-draft wireless N standards). I didn't use the CD to set up the router, as long as you've had to work with routers before you shouldn't have a problem.

Cons: I haven't been able to get the storage link to work yet, but I wasn't planning on using it when I bought this router.

Other Thoughts: This router has been coming down in price over the last few weeks(you might want to wait) but even for the price that I paid, it is well worth it! If the default firmware doesn't have enough features for you, or causes problems, this router is compatible with DD-WRT

Rating + 5 This Router ROCKS!

Pros: Smoking fast with 802.11a/g. Runs at 50% utilization of the 54a and 54g signals on my Thinkpad T42 one floor below in WPA2-AES. I was able to stream THREE standard resolution DVD movies simultaneously to my laptop over the A band with just a few dropped frames that were caused by CPU max usage. I replaced a sorry D-link DI-624 that should have gone away long ago; keeping it working was like the 21st century of maintaining your TV signal by holding the rabbit ears, aluminum foil, and standing on one foot. The 600N "just works." With new router, my 54g speeds doubled. Despite the 624's nominal 25% G usage, it could not get my internet connection above 14Mbps. The 600N got the same wireless connection up to 23Mbps, same as my wired LAN connection. (max speed varies with Cox speed boosting). It seems to have less latency when web surfing, accessing Windows home network, etc. It just runs smoothly.

Cons: 1. When using the optional https web interface to manage the router, IE claims that the certificate does not match and flags as an eror. Have not played with this one to resolve it, but did not work out of the box. The https management interface still works if you override the warnings.

2. The router comes covered with warnings saying to run the setup disc first. The setup disc is a waste of time if you know how to configure a router. It contains a bloatware interface that really pushes obvious security measures, but some people might need the help. I wish the setup disc was labeled as being optional.

Other Thoughts: Have not tried the N feature yet, still eagerly awaiting a card. Also have not played with the storage link, but I did not buy the router for that. Can't comment on reliability, but I am very pleased so far.

Pros: First I need to say thinks to everyone that gave a heads up about the product. Especially with regard to the possible gotchas when setting the device up. I'll sum up the pros with one word
FAST!.

Cons: The price kind of got me down. Especially since, on the day I finally receive the device to find out that Newegg dropped the price another fifty bucks. Thanks Newegg. You guys
kill me.

Other Thoughts: Anyway, I finally get the device setup along with my existing router. It was a little tricky. I'm also using the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter. I hook that up to my Popcorn Hour player. Lo and behold I'm streaming 720P movies wirelessly across the house. I haven't tried 1080P yet. It's coming.

Rating + 5 works as advertized

Pros: Purchased after reviews on smallnetbuilder. This is one of the only dual radio options on the market, it's nice to be able to do wireless G at 2.4GHz and wireless N at 5GHz at the same time. Had no problem setting up the 40MHz channel at 5GHz, the 2.4GHz band was too crowded for the wide channel. It's been running solid for about a month so far, no unexpected disconnects or resets.

I did some benchmarks, man does SMB have a lot of overhead. Setup was a laptop in 40MHz N mode at 5GHz, 15 ft away from router and 1 wall between router and laptop. Copied a 2.05GB file. Regular windows sharing scored 37Mbps download from a desktop PC. Same setup, created an iSCSI target on desktop PC, scored 107Mbps.

I'm rather pleased with this setup and the real world performance of the low overhead iSCSI, the goal of going N was to store personal data remotely, off of my laptop, and I think this will fit the bill nicely.

Cons: It is quite a chunk of change, but based on the features and reviews comparing it to other devices it's not too out of line. Linksys should really update it's old web interface, but it works.

Other Thoughts: Gotta love the reviewer who trashes this product, while saying he's had this over a year, it hasn't even been out that long.

Rating + 2 LinkSys Dual Band of Garbage

Pros: The 2.4GHZ band works great. Always have 5 bars and never drops.

Cons: The 5Ghz band is a nightmare. Cannot maintain a stable connection nor does it have the advertised speed (I was actually at 13.5mb/s on the N band yesterday!).

Other Thoughts: I actually replaced my original 1GB router (DLink dgl-4100) with this junk. The problem is is that when the N Band crashes it takes the whole router with it. So that means all of my wired PC's lost connectivity as well. I had to put my original router back in and now am basically using this as a $240 AP. I believe a firmware update could fix this but, as usual, LinkSys ignores the complaints of their customers. Both my laptops are also using the Dual Band adapter (WPC600N) as well but I've definitely traced this to the router. As I'm typing this review on my laptop (I'm remoting into my wired PC downstairs) the router has now dropped twice and now is only at 13.5mb/s again. Ridiculous. If you think I was upset, you should have seen my wife who has to deal with this during the day when I'm at work and not around to fix it. We have an IP phone as well and her calls kept dropping because the router crashed multiple times a day. I'm going to reflash the firmware as a last resort.

Rating + 1 Overpriced Garbage..

Pros: Looks Fancy and Supports Advanced Features..

Cons: 1. Stability is Terrible - Cannot support many devices and crashes often. Performance is Poor.

2. Not Compatible With Many Wireless Devices - Even the Linksys WUSB54G V2 with latest drivers will not work with this thing! My other wireless cards have intermittent issues even with a perfect signal.

3. NOT a Workhorse - Try downloading a few torrents and watch this thing struggle to return a ping to your desktop in less than 4 seconds. Absolutely Horrific performance under even minor stress.

4. Pricey - Five times the cost of the WRT54G which is very stable and can handle a lot of traffic. I was previously using the 54G and the 600N is nothing more than overpriced garbage.

Other Thoughts: Unless you want to brag to your friends you have the most expensive linksys router, I would recommend the WRT54G or another highly rated router on newegg if you actually want to get functionality out of your router..

Rating + 5 Wireless N Confusions

Pros: This router supports two bands, 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. For optimal performance on ANY dual-band router, use the 5 GHz for the N devices and the 2.4 GHz band for the B/G devices. The storage link works perfectly, although the external hard drive must be formatted as NTFS to get maximum data transfer rates, even though manufacturers default to FAT32. This router is also directly upgradeable (through firmware) to the N-standard, when that is finalized later this year / early next year.

Cons: Possibly price, but then again, you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: Most problems with this router are because people don't understand how to set it up correctly (and i don't blame you, its pretty tricky). First of all, if you encrypt your network, in order to get maximum wireless data transfer rates (the advertised 270 Mb/sec) you must use WPA-2, no exceptions. Another tip, this router is essentially two routers in one and can be configured as such. Configure a separate network for the N devices, and another one for the G devices (this way, both devices will max out their speed). NOTE: you can still see computers and such on both networks from one to the other and visa-versa. The 5 GHz band is not the band that advertises more range, the 2.4 GHz band is. Although with MIMO (Multiple-In Multiple-Out), the signal is still 10x that of a regular G router (WRT54G). Also 270 Mb/s (Mega-BITS/second) is equivalent to 33.75 MB/s (Mega-BYTES/second). Don't expect to transfer a 5 GB DVD in under 20 seconds.

Pros: Looked very nice.

Cons: Had TWO of these that I returned for the same reason - the firmware would not flash. Linksys support was atrocious.

Other Thoughts: It wasn't that bad of a setup - apparently there was/is a batch of these with some kind of a bug that prevents upgrading the firmware. Other people have had a similar issue. Linksys support - was almost like a Laurel and Hardy skit... ugh.

Rating + 3 I was expecting better speed & range

Pros: quad band a/b/g/draft-n; two separate radios 2.4/5GHz both operate at the same time; USB storage link; gigabit ethernet; DivX and Xvid support on media server

Cons: wireless-n speed not what advertised; can get quite warm(hot); no wall mounting; UPnP doesn't always seem to work; no .mp4 support on media server; limited port forwarding list; USB storage link easily locks up when using media server

Other Thoughts: Although my notebook and pc both say they are connected wirelessly at 270mbps, the speed of transfer is no better than when I had wireless-g at 54mbps. when i'm on the 2.4 GHz channel I get a strong signal in most places, but when i'm on the 5 GHz channel I only get 3 out of 5 strength bars. I never get disconnected, but the speed is definitely not there and the range is not indicating a full 5 bars, regardless of which band I use. Gigabit ethernet is absolutely wonderful. So is QOS. Decent router, but not worth the current price.

Pros: Improved range and throughput. Easliy handles both my g and n connections flawlessly. Far superior range as compared to older models I have owned. Running with up to 24 wireless N clients and doesn't seem to bog down. Extremely happy with the purchase.

Cons: Setup via their CD is a joke, but manual setup was a breeze. Not a buying factor for me. Purchase was for a wireless lab and did not come out of my pocket or price might have been an issue.

Other Thoughts: Good unit. Pricey.....if you do not need the Dual Band capability you can easliy spend a whole lot less for similar units in the linksys line of wireless routers and access points.

Rating + 2 Unacceptable performance for the price

Pros: The administration interface is easier to navigate than competitors' models, although that's not to say it's well-documented and user-friendly -- it's not. Other than that, there's not much that I can say in this device's favor. There are most likely other routers at much lower price points that will deliver the level of reliability this unit illustrates.

Cons: Where to begin....well for starters the range and throughput are no better than a standard G router. The 5GHz band offers absolutely no improvement over the 2.4GHz band, even when paired with the corresponding Linksys 5GHz 802.11n adapter. There also seems to be no router that will handle large data traffic -- simply copying any file larger than an MP3 across the LAN will cause the router to drop connection. This is unacceptable for a device that features an external storage link -- what's the point of offering it if the router can't handle serving files to and from it?

Other Thoughts: This is the third "next-gen" router I've tried in as many weeks. Each and every one (the Belkin N1, the D-Link DGL4500 and now this monstrosity) fails to deliver the goods it promises. Wireless routers from the top to the bottom of the line continually frustrate and disappoint customers with poor performance, utter lack of reliability and pathetic levels of support from the companies who manufacture them. How long will the public continue to tolerate poor products with planned obsolescence written all over them?

Rating + 5 Linksys Finally Got It Right

Pros: After 3 pre-N and N routers over the last 2 years,Linksys finally got it right. Out of the box and 15 minutes later this router was running a network with 2 Vista laptops (both Intel N Cards-Running at 270Mps), a Linux laptop with a Netgear G card, a Linksys Gameing Adapter running a Slingbox, and a New Linksys 600N Gameing Adapter running and XBOX360/Windows Media Center.
Speed is incredible and solid! This was worth every penny...

Cons: You will need to do some tweaking to get your network flowing again. Worth the minor aggrevation though!
The price is steep but you are getting 2 routers for the price (5Ghz N and a 2.4Ghz G)

Other Thoughts: "Do not let Vista set up a new network for you"!It will screw up the router settings and try to make it one network that is substantially slower. You are better off useing Linksys Advisor for your initial setup (if you already have a Linksys Router), and do the rest manually.

Rating + 1 Junk if unlucky

Pros: Good spec. migh be good if you got a good sample

Cons: I got it for one day. The signal is less than half of my old wrt54gs. RMA'd it and bought an apple airport extreme. much better signal. I guess there is very bad quality control at linksys. From other reviews the good ones seem good I think I just got one of the many "lemons" out there.
The signal level for 2.4G is about same as wrt54gc (not gs) and the 5G band signal is much worse than that.

Other Thoughts: I got worried before I ordered it when I saw other people having big problems with this one but I took a gamble that did not work out

Rating + 5 Followup to Poor packaging...

Pros: 2.4 & 5ghz simultaneously, DHCP Reservation, QOS

Cons: Storage link has some R/W bugs that need to be sorted out.

Other Thoughts: My first review complained about poor packaging that damaged the finish of the router. Well, it must have been a bad batch from my local Best Buy because the one I purchased thru Newegg.com had much better packaging, with protective plastic on the TOP and BOTTOM(something the Best Buy ones didn't have, thus why the damage).

The router itself has been terrific. It seems a tick speedier than my previous Linksys router(WRT54GX4) and has been solid. I am also running a WGA600N with one of my Directv HR20's, on the 5mhz N band and that has been flawless, as well, with great range.

The only issue is with the storage link. You cannot run it without a PW, so everytime you log into windows(XP or Vista) you must enter the PW. Also, there is a bug that prevents you from deleting things from the drive, at times because the R/W flags get changed and it complains I don't have proper credentials to fix it. Hopefully a future firmware update will cure this.
