Good but bad support
Pros: Good overall performance, 1 gig lan connection.
Cons: Wireless is nothing spectacular.
Other Thoughts: The router performed pretty good until (stupid me) I decided to upgrade the firmware. Ok, downloaded the file, flashed it and surprise! No connection to the router! Called support and surprise again! If you want any online or over the phone support, you have to purchase additional coverage as the warranty is only for 1 year (30 or 40 dollars). I did not ask to replace the unit, I just asked for help with the firmware update. Unbelievable! Would never buy linksys again!

Sleek and Effective
Pros: I have had this product for a while and I can honestly say that it has not caused me any problems. It is primarily used for wireless internet browsing. I do use it for casual gaming with the PS3. I have had not issues. It is very sleek and has a low profile. It currently is sitting next to my TV and looks great. It also is easily updated via firmware download.
Cons: It does not have the greatest signal strength. I live in an apartment and it is effective, but in a larger space you may have signal strength of 50-60%.

Slows to a crawl
Pros: Pretty blue lights
Cons: This thing needs constant reboots. My FiOS 25/15 connection speed drops to 5/1 after two days. Reboot brings it right back.
This is apparently a known issue (to everyone but Cisco). I wish I had known before I bought it.
Other Thoughts: Horrible support from the company. They deny it's a known problem even though it's been reported over and over again.

Runs hot and fast
Pros: -Sleek, modern design -V1 is upgradeable to DD-WRT (only reason I bought this router since Buffalo stopped selling in the US) -Instantly worked even before flashing to DD-WRT.
Cons: -Seemingly puts out more heat than my PC. I have the legs propped up on books to get more flow under the router. Once I did this it stopped locking up. -No USB
Other Thoughts: I got mine over the summer which I assume means I got the DD-WRT compatible version.

Great Wirelss N Router
Pros: Wireless N, gigabit ethernet. Small.
DD-WRT! The Linksys firmware is garbage and would constantly freeze. I have founded a pretty stable version of DD-WRT firmware that works great. I can now get wireless N speeds at a more consistent rating than when I was using the linksys firmware.
Cons: It Gets hot. I have it mounted to a wall but make sure the screws give it some breathing room from the wall.

not worth it
Pros: compact, looks good
Cons: Configuration screens aren't very intuitive. I've had mine less than a year and I have to power-cycle it every couple days when it goes brain dead.

Needs some tough love
Pros: Very good lan speed, I'm pretty impressed with through-put on the lan side 7mbs file transfer I can't complain with that at all. The wireless N runs great to no connection drops anywhere in my house even on my netbook which has horrible connection reliability usually. Works great for gaming on wifi also, CoD6 with no time outs on my gaming laptop.
Cons: For about the first month or so, the router would freeze up completely. Even trying to directly connect my laptop to it and console in was useless only fix would be to do a hard reset unplugging and plugging it back in to power. How ever the last time I had a lock up about a month ago, I got so frustrated with it, I beat the thing into submission works great now that it knows it place though. So if it locks up once send it back for a replacement They do work great as Routers.
Other Thoughts: Don't beat your router into submission like I did, I was just going to buy another one anyways so figured what the hell. I hate dealing with RMAs so if something breaks I don't care if I break it more.

V2 does not currently support DD-WRT
Pros: The V1 unit that I have is a great unit. It supports DD-WRT and performs exactly as desired
Cons: The new unit I just purchased and received is a V2 unit. I buy Linksys hardware to use with DD-WRT. Unfortunately DD-WRT does not currently support the new V2 units.
Other Thoughts: It would be nice if Newegg could identify Version numbers of these units if and when they change.
If you are buying this unit to use with DD-WRT beware that the currently shipping V2 unit does not currently support DD-WRT.

Frustrating
Pros: This router has a great array of features, more than the WRT54G series.
Cons: Every time I change a setting the router drops its IP address and has to be reset. This makes it impossible to remotely manage.

it is getting returned
Pros: styling, quick and easy setup
Cons: The router worked fine, but i got it as an upgrade to the current g trendnet router i currently have, along with a match wireless usb adapter for my desktop. The speeds that i was clocking with this router we're not any better if not worst then my current router. SO no reason for me to send that money on something that looks nice.

After over a year
Pros: I decided to toss in my 2 cents after reading all the bad reviews here. Bought this last august ('08) and didn't even try to use the linksys software before flashing to dd-wrt. Linksys/Cisco hardware is far superior to their soft/firmware. Requires the mini-build to be flashed before the full build can be flashed on, but since then I've had to manually reset it TWICE. In over a year. With pretty heavy .torrent loads from a 15Mb fiber connection.
Cons: Does get a bit warm, but I have it mounted to a wall with 1/4" space between wall and unit (just used longer nails than necessary).
Other Thoughts: Caveat to all the above: I have only had this running in N-band, and rarely to more than 2 clients. But, seriously, i've only had to power cycle this thing twice...in a YEAR.
DD-WRT + Linksys = rock solid.

linksysbycisco routers suck
Pros: When it works, it works good.
Cons: But when it doesn't work, Cisco does not support it.
Other Thoughts: I will never buy Cisco/Linksys products again! Two routers and each of them fail within 3 months after warranty. One dropped VPN connections from day one but it was out of warranty the day I bought it. The other worked fine for 14 months then started dropping a single connection. Upgraded the firmware, it started dropping all connections. Linksys will not support them.

What a piece of junk!
Pros: None. The bottom line is that hardware needs to function as expected. Attractive styling means nothing if the product doesn't work as expected.
Cons: I bought this as an upgrade to a very cheap D-LINK wireless router. The D-LINK didn't offer Wireless N and the Linksys did. Unfortunately none of the three laptops I needed to work with this device could get a sustainable network connection using B, G, or N, even when they were sitting right next to the router.
Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money.

Linksys is slipping
Pros: Cheap and stylish. Carries the linksys name
Cons: I started with Netgear routers and gave up after many failures that happened after warranty. I have been thrilled with my WRT-54G linksys router but wanted gigabit internally. I am severly disappointed with this router. When I upgraded to the latest firmware that has been available for 10 months, I found that there is a javascript error that prevents saving of open ports (there is a workaround posted in the forums). 10 months and no fix to that? Off to a bad start. I had two failures in a week where I had to pull the plug and reboot. My WRT-54g NEVER failed in 2 years. I read that the unit overheats because of the design. I can't have downtime so I bought a DLINK DGL-4100 gaming router and swapped out the unit only to smell it and it smells like hot/burning plastic. The wireless range with the internal antenna is not as good as the wrt-54g's external antenna. I guess I should have read the reviews before purchasing.
Other Thoughts: The quality of this product is not up to linksys standards and I would advise to stay away.

Poor Quality
Pros: Worked well for a year.
Cons: Failed after warranty was up.
Other Thoughts: Called Linksys for help. They provided none. Their attitude was "Be glad it worked for a year"! Ths failed unit will not be replaced with another Liinksys.

Pros: This is a great router. The software that comes with it is 64 bit compatable. I had no trouble setting it up, and within minuites I had a superfast wiress N network! It gets great range, and has a slim design.
Cons: The router runs pretty hot.

Overpriced Disappointment
Pros: Looks great.
Cons: Overheats! I had to put mine slanted forward to give the poor design some help with the circulation. I purchased this "Top of the Line" N Ultra RangePlus router to replace my FIVE year old U.S. Robotics G+B basic router and my signal boosted from 22% to 24%. Needless to say, horrible. Doing firmware upgrades on this thing is a pain since mines froze and no longer works. I had to go back to the USR router that's now 6 years old. I'm never buying Linksys again.
Other Thoughts: I've had to service homes using Belkin routers & receivers and they were horrible as well (at least they're nice enough to die while still under warranty). However, my friend's old-as-dirt Linksys G router is still working so maybe the company is, like most old companies, declining in quality. I'm going to try Buffalo next, so with me luck :/

WiFi is unstable...
Pros: looks nice on your desk i guess... software that comes with it is simple to use and helpful.
Cons: WiFi drops constantly... i guess it can't handle multiple users well.
Other Thoughts: I've had this for a day... and the WiFi has dropped 6 or 7 times already. I've upgraded the Firmware, changed all WiFi settings but the problem continues... I had high hopes for this device. :(

Linksys
Pros: Hi speed wireless N
Cons: Just over a year old and wireless comes and goes. Linksys starting to act like all the others and want money up front to help. The wireless side comes and goes and they say it is a setting. Well nothing has changed and I factory reset and still same problem. Wake up People!!!!!!

Linksys WRT310N works for me.
Pros: Cool to look at, sleek and sexy. I had this router for about 10 months now and never had one problem with it. Either in N mode or B/G mixed strong signal in my house and neighbors. It never drops or loses connection unless it's Comcast fault. Gigabit connection is a plus if you can use it. Nice that you can turn off wireless signal when not needed.
Cons: Yes it does seem hot to the touch at times. I don't leave my on all the time just when using. I could see where that might be a problem if in a tight space. I'm on the net about 6+ hours a day.
Other Thoughts: I updated the firmware first thing when I got it. I can't complain it does the job for me.

Great router!
Pros: Great router! i run DD-WRT ive been in that scene for around 6 months took a while to understand it but it works fine! great speeds and connection strengths!
Cons: This router runs warmer then average routers so put a double A batter underneath the back part of the router so it has some space between the cabinet or whatever you have it sitting on so it can breath and this will keep it happy!
Other Thoughts: I also own a WRT54G2 the G2 runs very warm and i didnt like it that much on the 310 i only use the G network but its stable and strong signal so i would definatly buy a 310 over the G2 any day even if i only the G network...also if you are going to run the stock firmware on the router press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds so you can just plug and play the router because if you dont its a little complicated to get it running with the stupid CD it comes with in the box

Great, Even Without N
Pros: I had originally installed this router more than a year ago as a wireless extender to a wired-only DSL setup (and the install was trouble-free). Their ISP replaced the wired router with a wireless-G router; so I was offered this now-surplus Linksys (since I had originally set it up). I directly replaced my WRT54GS (also Linksys) with the N, keeping the same security and passphrase settings that I had for my GS. G devices still have no issues, and wired devices (one 100 mbps, one gigabit) are at max efficiency.
Cons: Still at Pelican Bay.
Other Thoughts: You will almost certainly have to power-cycle your existing connection point (DSL or cable modem) to refresh the MAC device ID at the other end; in most cases, MAC cloning is not needed (though you can, you usually don't have to). Even if youy have no N devices, due to the gigabit switch, the *wired* devices will operate at peak efficiency. (Gigabit connections will show up with bright-green LEDs on the router.)

Fan Mod
Pros: Lightning Fast Wired Networking Works well with Mod . . . See Below Cool looking DD-WRT Capable
Cons: Gets too hot. . . See Below I was hoping for more speed from Wireless
Other Thoughts: I had this for over a year and it was a pretty good router, I would have to unplug and reset about every other week due to heat issues, granted this was with an iPhone, up to 5 laptops, a PS3 or Wii on wireless, plus sometimes 8-10 Gigabit devices running. . .
After a year (warranty now up) I bought a 40mm x 10mm fan and cracked this thing open and mounted it as an exhaust fan directly above the "Linksys" on the front of the router, (had to cut a 40mm hole in the top) I wired the fan to the power jack on the router itself, and reassembled. Wow what a difference. It has not gone down even once, and all my devices seem to work even faster.
I used a 40mm x 10mm fan but had to trim a tiny bit of plastic from the fan to clear the radio inside, use a 40mm x 7mm and you can avoid this. Also I used a 5000 rpm fan, but could have used a slower one, but that is hindsight. (20x20)
Next I will be flashing with DD-WRT

Decent when it works.
Pros: for the price the feature list is impressive. 802.11N, gigabit switch, etc...
Cons: The gigabit switch causes the router to overheat and speeds drop dramatically. The only ventilation holes are at the bottom and there is not enough space for adequate cooling. I went with an upright Belkin N+ and
Other Thoughts: I returned this within a week of buying. I had to constantly (every 24 hours or so) unplug the router and wait for it to cool down before it is operational. Linksys made a big mistake by using the same design as the wrt54g which did not overheat because the 10/100 built-in switch did not generate as much heat.
The overall design is very poor and I expect better from Linksys. This is a product that was designed without proper testing as a cheap N router. At least put the vent holes on top so the thing can cool down!
I guess you can't expect anything better these days considering routers have become more of a commodity than anything else.

Poor
Pros: Dual band, easy set up.
Cons: Drops wireless with relative frequency. Also loses IP. Swapped in my old Linksys blue and grey and no probs, so it's not my other gear. Silly shape and it gets very hot.
Other Thoughts: Welcome back D-Link.

Vast improvement over WRT54G
Pros: I've had this router running for four months after my WRT54G died. The old router dropped connections seemingly at random for the whole time i owned it, and got worse over two years. This new one has never dropped a connection. Even running my 802.11g wireless connections on laptops run faster than the old router. I recently added a D-Link 8-port gigabit switch to this router for a couple of office computers, a couple of networked printers, a homebrew Windows Home Server rig, and a hulu/netflix/boxee computer in the living room, and it's handling the traffic without skipping a beat.
Cons: It gets a little warm, and it's not the WRT-610N with the simultaneous dual band.
Other Thoughts: This is probably the only piece of hardware I haven't bought at Newegg in about three years, but I got it at a computer show for eighty bucks from the vendor as he was getting ready to leave for the day. I haven't tried to use WiFi Protected Setup because I prefer to do everything manually, so I don't know if that works or not, or is any better. As with any router, flash the firmware with the latest version as soon as you get the hardware setup. This router works great with OpenDNS

Not bad, so far
Pros: Picked this up after I messed up my old LinkSys router trying to get it to give me full speed (was only giving me 3m when I pay for 10m) Nice long range, getting same speed as directly plugged into my Cable Int on wireless, which is a plus and haven't disconnected as of yet.
Cons: I followed the instructions to a T and it didn't work. Was trying to set my main computer up and couldn't get it to work, tried a few times, powercycled everything and nothing (all hardwired) tried my other computer after hitting the button on it and magically wireless worked for all my computers ( although trying to hook my main back up to wired didn't) I'm not going to touch anything as I worked on routers for 3 straight days and I'm going to pray it just continues to work.
Other Thoughts: Other than the trouble setting this thing up, everythings been fine so far. I'm sure the problems were just because my knowledge on networking is not high at all, but alas I got it to work and its working great so far!

LINKSYS WRT310N IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE802.11n Draft Wireless-N Gigabit Router - Retail
Pros: Hardly have to reset it like previous wireless routers I had. Haven't had any issues.
Cons: Doesn't have as great a range as it states. Upstairs in a bedroom (with the router downstairs), the connection is there, but the data transfer isn't that great.
Other Thoughts: I'd still recommend it. If your want to play games via wireless, you just need to be closer to the router so you won't "lag".

so far so good
Pros: Easy setup, wireless is flawless for me, but i'm only using G right now (have no N devices so i have yet to test that) - if you know how to set up a basic home router you don't need to bother with the CD at all. Gig switch rules. Great range and security features.
Cons: Does heat up, but so far this hasn't affected anything.
Other Thoughts: Linksys interface isn't bad, it is pretty much the same old thing with a few more options. So far I have not had a single dropped connection or DHCP problem like my older linksys. I have not tried this with gaming yet but I doubt I'll have any issues. I haven't flashed the firmware as I don't have a need to.

Two of these failed in less than two years
Pros: Works most of the time.
Cons: Generates a ton of heat (uncomfortable to the touch). I I've now had two fail within a 18 months (and now of course out of warranty)
Other Thoughts: Could someone please tell me what is a good, dependable, well designed (a router shouldn't look like a square frisbee).

Piece of Junk
Pros: Wireless N Gigi bit LAN
Cons: Please Do not get this Product... It has been a year and I have already had two of them crash on me....
Get a router with a higher rating then this one... Runs Hot, Very Hot. Does not handle a lot of connections well... Wireless is unstable....
Other Thoughts: I tried this router with both Stock Firmware and DD-WRT DD-WRT helped alittle but over all this Router is Flawed like many other linksys products these days....

Wrt310N Very Good Router
Pros: It does everything very well as advertised and does not disconnect as other posted reviews . When the power goes out it comes right back on. I have four computers online and I might have to reboot one of my laptops to refresh the connection after power outages. Also I installed the latest Linksys Website firmware update because the original did not work very well. Also I manually set my settings I wanted for my network.
Cons: None so far.

A strong performer
Pros: Fast, a heck of an upgrade in wired routing speed from my WRT54G, the wireless N is just what I had expected. The 'EasyLink Adviser' program is a vastly improved way of setting up and monitoring your network than the web-based utilities.
Cons: It gets hot. This seems to be the predominant complaint especially considering the excessive heat is responsible for all of the stability issues sited. One reviewer suggested flipping the unit over like a turtle on it's back; I suspect this would solve the inadequate heat dispersion issue, but I've come up with a better solution (see other thoughts). I only gave it four out of five stars due to the bad case design requiring a fix for this unit to run reliably.
Other Thoughts: I would have gotten this from Newegg, but I wasn't really looking to buy a new router. When I saw it mis-marked locally I was able to get it at over half the price. It wasn't until I got home that I read all the bad reviews, most about the heat problem. I suspect the integration of the Gigabit Router required an extra power phase circuit resulting in more heat being produced, especially under load, than the casing was designed to handle. The entire bottom of this unit is perforated, but it's not elevated off of the surface it's placed on to allow enough circulation. I was inspired by a stand for a commemorative plate we have on display to built out of spare electrical parts a stand for this unit that raises it up a inch from the surface at the front end, holding the unit at a 45 degree angle leaving the back end almost five inches off the surface allowing for ample air flow. I plugged this unit in over three months ago and haven't touched it since.

Not so good
Pros: Fast and affordable
Cons: Crashed twice in my first week of ownership. Having learnt from experience I RMA'ed it and I purchased a WRT610N instead, which has been very solid.

Blah at best
Pros: Pretty, sleek and stylish. Wired networking is great. Easy to update firmware.
Cons: Signal was not correct at first as it was too low. Had to bump it up to wide transmit. Signal and throughput would lower by half when streaming HD video making it jitter and stop.
Other Thoughts: I tried DD-WRT and it worked to make this stable, but only at 130 mbps. I tried a newer DD-WRT and the router simply would not work anymore and it was a DD-WRT for this model. This router is just not that good and I had hoped it would be as it is very nice looking and compact. My DIR-655 with a broken antenna (which is why I needed a replacement) actually has bettter signal and throughput than this model. I ordered a new DIR-655. It is cheaper and works better in my 3 level home.

Factory firmware is garbage. Load dd-wrt
Pros: Gigabit switch.
Cons: I wanted to VPN into one of my servers at home using VPN passthrough. However, due to flaky nature of the firmware I could not always log in. The factory firmware would hang periodically and required frequent power cycling. It's not due to overheating as others have speculated. It's the firmware, stup*d! This router's only redeeming value is its hardware - it's supported by dd-wrt (read below).
Other Thoughts: Update since my initial review: I was going to throw this piece of garbage into the trash can since it was completely useless as a router. I then gave dd-wrt a shot and loaded v2.4 sp1. Now I am happily running VPN end-point (a feature not even supported by the original firmware) - PPTP for i-Phone and iPod Touch and OpenVPN for more secure PC connections. It's been months I have yet to reboot or power cycle the router once due to hang ups.

Linksys rocks
Pros: Works great. Loaded DD-WRT on it, No problems.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Got 2 of these, and 1 WRT 350N - DSL comes into the 350N, and the 2 WRT310N act as wireless bridges (running DD-WRT) on 802.11n WPA with no noticeable latency. It's an awesome setup, given now I don't have to run cables around the aprt, and I get 130Mbps+ in my room, the other is in my roommate's room. would have cost (I got a good deal on it) the same as a decent USB 802.11n card.

WRT310N
Pros: This router works great. I had a G rangeboost router before and this one has much better range and speed. The connection is also much more stable.
Cons: Once in a while I lose my connection, but it is gone for about 5 seconds then comes right back.
Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure if this router was going to be good because of the mixed reviews, but apparently I got a good one. It seems like the people that have had issues new within the first hour of ownership that they got one that needed RMA.

Nice Range
Pros: I'm replacing my Verizon supplied DLink, wonderful range...
Cons: one G laptop drops the entire thing to G. I feel like an idiot, I should have known that.
Other Thoughts: it also looks pretty spiffy, and yes, it does get pretty hot, but i haven't seen any issues yet.

Linksys WRT310N
Pros: Low profile, sleek styling
Cons: quits once a week - like clockwork!
Other Thoughts: I have to power-cycle the router to get it to work again after it goes into one of its funky states. I've tried the new firmware trick - nothing good came of that. I'm somewhat disappointed as I have always used Linksys products and this is the 1st one with which I had experienced problems which I could not wor out the kinks. . I think that they need to do some more work on the firmware. . 3 eggs - because when it works, it works well; when it doesn't, it doesn't!

DD-WRT + WRT310N = Awesome
Pros: With DD-WRT on this bad boy, (DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/09/09) vpn (SVN revision 11898)) This is a beta firmware, It has an updated broadcom driver. However this routee does the job, and it does it well. I run openvpn on it for my home network as well. All in all it is a good buy, if you want Wireless N and Gig-e connections. Built-in hardware crypto.
Cons: Does not support Jumbo Frames (MTU > 1500), can run a little warm, Wireless N is at 2.4 Ghz not 5 Ghz.

Great Router
Pros: I don't know why so many people hate on this router but i love it. I've had it for a while now and just happened to see the rating on it. I put dd-wrt on it the second i got it (wouldn't have bout it if it didn't support it) I had a wrt54gl and got this one due to the N. I needed to have wireless several rooms away for my family and this router did the job perfectly. Signal reaches far and stayes up. It has never crashed yet it does feel somewhat hot to the touch. I would still recommend this router if you are willing to flash DD-wrt without it i can't help ya.
Cons: Without DD-wrt not as good a router
Other Thoughts: DD-WRT LOVE IT

Doesn't deliver consistent performance
Pros: Speed, design
Cons: Disconnects a couple of time a day, needs reboot to recover. Range is very poor, WUSB300 drops to 19 Mbps at 50 ft. away, similar an internal Intel 4965 AGN is at 5.5 Mbps !!! This is in Auto mode, wide channel, wpa2 enabled.
Other Thoughts: I will RMA this one, if the replacement is no better, than sorry Linksys, but I'll switch brands (my old B/G Dlink 524 had no disconnect or range issues). I bought this one for speed, but the tradeof is too much.

Rock solid with DD-WRT firmware
Pros: Upon receiving the routher, I immediately flashed the firmware to DD-WRT v24 SP1 and it has been running for over 3 months without a reboot with connections from up to 6 devices in my house (2 computers, 2 Media Center Extenders and 2 iPhones) without any issues whatsoever. For those having stability/connection drops, I would seriously recommend looking into DD-WRT.
Cons: Cannot programatically turn off LEDs which can be annoyingly bright at night.
Other Thoughts: Great router with DD-WRT

Linksys WRT310N
Pros: Easy to setup
Cons: It never seemed as good as my old Linksys G routher my system always reported a lower connection speed with this router. The Routher never shut off but seemed to have spurts of slowness.
Other Thoughts: Sent back the routher and Got a D link N gigabit router works great.

Just plain junk
Pros: Stays up for several hours at a time. Usually.
Cons: Software is awful and slow. Configure the thing manually if you want it to work in a finite amount of time. [Software for setting up the router will replace your windows zero administration wireless drivers without telling you. If you like software that does this kind of garbage, by all means use it.]
Disconnects for several milliseconds every hour or so. Not too bad for browsing or services which permit intermittent connection without timing out, however, the bigger problem is that it goes dark every 24-36 hours for long enough to disconnect you from any VPN or knock off your Vonage service.
Various remedies suggested by mfgr will NOT help you much. Turn the unit on its side: NO. Turn the unit upsiade down: NO. Put on a laptop cooler fanboard to dissipate heat: NO. Update Firmware: NO.
Other Thoughts: Got one egg because I couldn't give it zero.
If you like poor reliability and terrible software, this is the unit for you!

Small Business Router
Pros: Gigabit ports, supports 3rd party firmware upgrades, draft-n
Cons: This device does not support external antenna connections. Fortunately I did not need that functionality in this installation.
Other Thoughts: Chose this router for a small business install to replace their WRT54G. I installed DD-WRT v24 onto the device to add needed functionality. Works like a charm.

Junk, Junk, Junk
Pros: nice to look at runs fast when it works
Cons: IT's my second one...first one wouldn't hold a connection for more than 10 minutes....on a wired connection. Drops connections constantly.....wired and wireless Forgets settings and security settings Constantly requires a power cycle to get it to work Doesn't like the load placed on it by playing a MMO. Have 5 wireless conections in use and one wired....will drop both then require a reboot and requires me to go in and redo my security settings. Won't accept a firmware update.....even though it doesn't have the newest one installed.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a previous WRTG54 that worked for almost 4 years without a hiccup. Now I am lucky to get online at all....unfortunatley I bought at a onbase exchange and not from newegg. This thing is going away as soon as I can find a goof reliable router again! Linksys, I used to consider them a good company that produced a good product...since C bought them it's junk and more junk....names dont mean anything no more and don't get me started on their cusomer service.

Works for me
Pros: I think the setup was smooth, the directions were easy to read and the package works to what I expected
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I bought the "package" (router, USB "N" adapter)... Couldn't be happier. the 2.4 Ghz limit works in my house for what I was expecting....and the price was fantastic!!!
If you want to spend $$$ for the "upgraded" range because you need it, you are a slave to new gadgets, etc.... go for it. This N router combo works forme...

Greatness
Pros: Easy setup is always a Pro, but this setup is easy as well as customizable to meet your needs. Overall I am impressed with the range and speed at those ranges of this router. So far I haven't had a single problem, and as always NewEgg had it here fast!
Cons: It boosts my wireless range, but has yet to boost the economy :(.........
Other Thoughts: I have a computer, printer, and PS3 connected to this network. I'm impressed with the speed at of print jobs to the printer which is a good 500 ft away. PS3 has high connectivity more than two rooms away.

Useless + Unreliable
Pros: Wireless N. High speed.
Cons: Frequent hangs requiring power cycling.
Other Thoughts: This has got to be the worst piece of networking device I have ever owned. I bought this to replace my Buffalo 54G VPN router. This Linksys P*S hangs every other day. Every time it hangs I cannot VPN to my LAN from the internet. So it's completely useless. I'm very disappointed. I'm dumping this Linksys and am going back to my trusty Buffalo.

dissapointed!
Pros: Initial setup was easy when swapping out old router with this one and I got all devices connected quickly. Noticeable speed improvement over my 54 mbps wireless G router.
Cons: Easy Link Advisor runs extremely slow! After a week, the router kept dropping the internet connection repeatedly and had to keep power cycling to restore. Upgrading firmware to latest version of 1.0.07 did not help. I had to put my old router back in place and am sending this one back (not to NewEgg though)
Other Thoughts: After I started having issues I searched and found this to be a common issue. I have always had excellent results with Linksys devices, but this one sucked. I am going to give D-Link a try for my Gigabit needs.

Disappointing
Pros: - Easy setup (used to UI from my WRT54G). - Easy to configure port forwarding for BitTorrent - Reasonably fast, but not quite Gb (around 300 Mb/s with NetMeter).
Cons: - Frequent hangs - need to power off and "re-boot".
Other Thoughts: My Linksys WRT54G never hung in well over 5 years of operation, so this router hanging problem is new to me and quite frustrating. This is a show-stopper as I have re-located the router to a corner of the basement. I was hoping that this problem noticed by other reviewers may have been fix by a firmware upgrade. Upgrading to the latest firmware did not help. When it "hangs", there is no connection to the internet, other computers, or even to the admin console. Not much of an upgrade, so this one has gone back.

poor
Pros: *Good range *Good interface *Wealth of features *Can be flashed with DD-WRT
Cons: *Router frequently freezes on me (sometimes every hour, sometimes every other day) and requires reset. It replaced a Belkin 7910 which had no problems at all. *Runs no warmer than my DSL modem, but apparently this causes it to lock up.

Great Router
Pros: Works Great! Extremely fast over N with Laptop. 131 Mbps Consistent. 1 Gbps works with Desktop. Doesnt get any warmer than usual electronics. Very sleek Awesome blue leds. FYI 1 Gbps connections generates Green Led on that port light.
Cons: Had to find the right frequency to get steady connection when I first got it. After that I never had to reset.
Other Thoughts: One of the best routers on the market. Sound Investment

Satisfaction
Pros: Linksys is part of Cisco and is very high quality. Router GUI is very easy to understand and setup. Internal antennas allow nice style. Looks great on my desk! Good signal strength
Cons: I first setup all security features at once, and though i could connect to the network, I could not get internet. I had to go back and setup security features one at a time. So not really a con, but the only negative thing I could remember.
Other Thoughts: Most of the negative reviews I read before purchasing this unit sounded user/environment related. Mine has never overheated. I've had it about 6 months at the time of this review.
Security: MAC address filtered Static IP Not broadcasting SSID WPA shared key
I would absolutely purchase this product again!

Great Router For Home
Pros: Has lived up to everything advertised, was replacing older Linksys WAP54G router that broke b/c someone stepped on it. Great Range and setup was a joke but has plenty of other options if you want to tinker. Really
Cons: Only had for 2 days so far so cant say long range durability but will up date later.
Other Thoughts: A bit more expensive but being on sale worth the few extra bucks.

Good Router
Pros: I've had this router for over a year now, i actually have two of them, and have had nothing but good experinces, though i've never ran anything super intensive over it (i.e. watching movies), but they seem to work well, don't have a heat problem either, i have both mounted on the wall and feel fine.
Cons: One thing i don't like about the stock firmware is not an option to turn it into a straight access point, but found 3rd party firmware that does such.
Other Thoughts: Good router, i would could purchase a 3rd.

__DO__NOT__BUY__
Pros: Um...gigabit works..? Easy dd-wrt install.
Cons: DO NOT BUY. Wireless is quite simply- useless.
Other Thoughts: Ive spent hours running tests, because I bought this at ******* Computer in &$# #*@(%)!@(, and lost my receipt (no return). So, basically ANY traffic that you run through the wireless side of this router crashes it. I was able to netcat zeros at ~20MB/s from one wired client to another, but as soon as you start loading webpages on a client through the wireless side, it crashes.
Tried loaded dd-wrt, turned off all extraneous wireless settings, used G-only, B-only, REDUCED wireless radio strength to <5 mW, and the behavior was still present. Finally, tried using this as a wireless bridge with the radio only connected to another wireless AP, and sure 'nuff, laptop -> GigE -> WRT310 -> Wireless -> WRT54G -> Internets crashes the router as well..
Through most of this testing the unit was on a leaning against a wall, and had airflow around nearly the entire unit. Trying to overheat the unit by ssh'ing in and pushing the load avg to >2 wouldnt crash it; only the wireless would.

Great Router
Pros: I have owned this router for nearly one year and its by far the best I have used. In the time I've had it I have only needed to reset the router twice vs. the daily requirements of my Net Gear. The Gig-a-bit wired connection works very well for my NAS for auto backups, it always working fast and flawlessly Plus speeds on the wireless network are more the adequate for recalling movies, songs, etc. I have never had to restart any computers to fix internet connections including the WII.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: User setup is easy too, and the range is incredible.

Requires Resets Daily
Pros: High Speed
Cons: The router requires resets every day, sometimes several times a day. Clients won't connect, but unplugging and replugging the access point/router fixes it with no other changes. This is a common problem with Linksys and I find it annoying.

Networking Pleasure
Pros: Easy, easy, easy, secure. It walked me through the installantion, the security, the everything, and it works flawlessly. No fuse, no must, just networking with great range...
Cons: Range is so good your neighbors on the next block could use it.

SIck Router
Pros: Looks Nice
Cons: HOT Doesn't work when it gets Hot Doesn't do port forwarding correctly (I had to upgrade the firmware on mine to get it to work) Wireless with ssid turned off caused problems on my 2 laptops as well as my girlfriends mac book. It was shaky at best and I was in a very small apartment, Range is Abysmal at times
Other Thoughts: I work with many different banking routers, Sonicwall and Fortinet Firewalls, as well as Cisco ASA and Cisco PIX firewalls. I was unable to get port forwarding to work without doing a firmware upgrade. If I was unable to do it, I am willing to bet the average user won't be able to get it to work either. (I did buy this when it was new the firmware was not developed fully) Linksys should take better care of their customers by making their web-interface more user friendly.

Great Product
Pros: Works great, excellent range, nice user interface networking tool.
Cons: The setup disk did not work for me and after some research I found others had the same problem. Don't know what the problem is but not a big deal as it is plug and play after all.
Other Thoughts: I bought this because I have 5 computers (3 laptops) and play lots of online games including LAN games. The router I had prior was a Belkin-G and I had nothing but problems, disconnects, resets, nothing but frustration. This router has not let me down and even the farthest room in the house gets 87% signal. That pc had to occasionally "borrow" the neighbors signal. Not Bad.

Much better than WRT54G
Pros: As others pointed out, this one accepts DDWRT. I say its much better than WRT54G because i have tried Dlink's wireless 108G router and the wireless connection dropped couple of times per day. The WRT310N is feature rich and maintained 3 day connection without a single disconnect and sustained 150Mbps ~ 270Mbps link speed
Cons: linky only needs to add Tx power control and this would be perfect for my needs.
Other Thoughts: DDWRT is becoming profit oriented and disables some of the more advanced features (requires that you pay to unlock it). But linksys's stock firmware should have most user's needs covered. Included DDNS that simplified my need for remote desktop connection.

Works for me
Pros: Very easy setup. The range is quite a bit better than the older style Linksys wireless routers. In a mixed wireless G and N environment, I'm having great results with both standards. The gigabit ethernet is a real plus at wireless N speeds.
Cons: The wireless N speed is a bit lower than I would have liked. I'm pretty sure this is because I'm using N on a built in Intel adapter in a laptop. From what I understand only a matching Linksys adapter will get you the top speed.
Other Thoughts: This unit is a great foundation for a home network of any kind. I can't complain.

Linksys WRT310n
Pros: It's pretty! Wireless setup is easy.
Cons: Constantly drops connection to my modem. Range is poor, 30% with laptop 6 ft away. If you like to restart your equipment every 10-15 minutes this might be what your looking for. Whatch for it on the E**Y auction site.

promising, but overheats
Pros: Gigabit Lan, Decent feature set, Can use DD-WRT, looks pretty, decent range.
Cons: Crashes under load (torrents, watching movies off network PC)
Other Thoughts: This router is fine until you run something that is network intensive over wifi. Then the router drops off all the time, gets really hot, and eventually ceases to function until you restart it. Try seeding some torrents for a few hours, it is guaranteed to fail. This is in a 66 degree room. Basically to get it not to crash, you need to put it upsidedown and have a fan blow on it. Otherwise good router, but this is a major problem for me.

Works Great
Pros: This router is very capable. It is supported by DD-WRT and runs it like a champ. As the other reviewers have stated, it does get slightly hot, though I've elevated it and that helped. Great range indoors as well as great speed.
Cons: None, really.
Other Thoughts: Major upgrade from our old Netgear WGR614.

Junk!
Pros: I cannot think of anything good to say about this router.
Cons: Wireless does not work for longer than a few minutes. Wired frequently loses connection to the Internet (every 10 minutes or so). Very slow. Tech support is almost NON-existent. No external antenna connections.
Other Thoughts: I returned the first one for a replacement because the wireless would not work after two weeks and it frequently lost the Internet connection. Technical support is online ONLY!!! Not much good if you cannot connect to the Internet!
The second one was no better than the first one. We wasted MANY hours trying to get technical support. The online-only Chat (typing) technical support people made us reinstall the firmware update with each support session. Well, guess what! Each firmware update causes the router to lose the Internet connection. That means you will spend at least TWO HOURS connecting to the online technical support. That is, of course, if you can maintain an Internet connection! No internet connection = NO Technical support!!! Bad router = NO Internet connection!!

Good Performer so far
Pros: Purchased this over Christmas to replace my Linksys WRT54G that I now plan to use as a wireless switch. performance so far is pretty good but the range does not appear to be any better than the WRT54G. Lots of posts here about heat, but feels no worse than the WRT54G and I have had that unit for 5 years with no problems. I hope this new unit will be as reliable.
Cons: I expected the range to be better than the WRT54G but in my house it appears to be only slightly better.

Nothing wrong with it
Pros: I bought this to replace a dead Linksys DGL-4300 and never looked back. Better signal and no dropped connections. If you have 16mps or better service, you need a router that can handle the speed of the connection and this one will.
Cons: None, no surprises, everything works.
Other Thoughts: There's a lot of variables for wireless performance but one of the most important is where the router sits in the house and what's interfering with the signal. In every case I've seen, problems with signals is a problem with placement, not with the unit.

Good
Pros: Fantastic range, was able to go to the soccer field behind my house and still use it, gigabit, sleek design, runs fine and normal.
Cons: It does run hot but linksys actually made it so substain that temperature, idk why other people say they have problems mine has worked for 9 months now and no issues.
Other Thoughts: I don't think the LED's are to bright lawlz... and if your on your 3rd one man i don't think you know how to work a router lol. If you know how to use a router then this is for you if not then perhaps you need to downgrade to a wireless G. Wireless N on gives you father range and faster transfer speeds not faster internet.

Good So Far
Pros: Good design, no antenna's, connected WI-FI cell phone and PSP with no problems. Really sped-up my PC internet connection!!!
Cons: None so Far
Other Thoughts: I usually like to write a review after I've owned a product for at least a couple months. I will update my review at a later time to better assist any new buyers. Others have stated that this router runs hot, are they sleeping with it under the covers or what. It is sitting on the desk, you should not be holding your face to it! From what I understand, anything that advertises and runs with the capabilities of this router might run a little warm. For you overclockers I can guarantee your computer runs a litter hotter than normal, so it's not that big of a deal.

Good Router
Pros: I bought the router and put DD-WRT firmware on it. Everything works great. I'm very happy with the router. The gigabit switch is fast and wireless N is nice too. It made my transfers faster from my TIVO to my laptop. I haven't had any problems with it. The people that don't like this router don't have a clue how to use it.
Cons: It runs a little hot and Wireless N was tough to get working. You have to use a specific WPA setting. Maybe that was a problem with my laptops wireless card.
Other Thoughts: I would buy another one of these.

Utterly mediocre.
Pros: Pretty blue lights. It WILL connect to the Internet with some prodding.
Cons: Range is dismal. My 4 year old budget D-link literally had TWICE the signal strength from the exact same location. This "RangePlus" thing is a total joke.
The setup CD was totally useless. It simply refused to complete the process.
The router will NOT save security information beyond a reboot. Maybe this is normal, but it's a pain in the rear to have to re-select a connection security type and make up a password every time the unit reboots.
The Linksys Wireless Network Monitor software is junk. While it certainly gives more feedback about what's going on between the PC, router, and service provider than the Windows XP network monitor, it's prone to dropping my connection and simply WILL NOT remember my stupid password to automatically log back in. I've tried every way I can find, but if my connection drops, I always have to manually re-select the router and re-enter my password.
Other Thoughts: I don't know that much about all the nitty-gritty details of networking, so simplicity in function is very important. Using that as my grading scale, this Linksys is very nearly a total failure. All my others have been pretty much plug n' play, and have met all my expectations. Getting this one to do it's job is like trying to paint the Mona Lisa with a garden rake.

not so great
Pros: 10/100/1000Mbps LAN, which is what I was looking for with a wireless N wireless router
Stable firmware
Cons: Range is horrible, especially when compared to my old buffalo wireless n router/access point. Where I used to get excellent signal with 125Mbps on my Eee, I now get low to very low signal and anywhere from 6-19Mbps connections. There's only 1 wall between, with no electronics between.
Other Thoughts: Needed a new router for certain capabilities I didn't have with my buffalo, and wanted gigabit LAN. Overall the firmware is ok, and performance from a stability standpoint is pretty good. I haven't had to cycle it yet in about 2 months.
My buffalo can be switched to an access point, so I'll probably disable the wireless and use the access point for wireless. Overall rather displeased with the range/performance of the wireless.
Bought it from a retail store because I needed it that day... spent about $80 more than what it is here :-(

Just got it today
Pros: Simple, easy, configurable. Period.
Dont uinstall the software unless you're a complete noob. (really do we need an animated face called "LELA")
Cool lights that change from blue to red when 1000/T is active. WooooOOOOO!
Cons: The animated face creeps me out, and that was only from the box picture. I didn't install the software, you don't need to... IT'S A ROUTER!
Other Thoughts: Ok, this thing ISN'T that hot like others have reported. Set it up on little makeshift feet if it bothers you. Maybe because I'm not using "n" wireless - don't care about it so I switched it off.
I wanted a cheap gigabit router for my wired computers and wireless is a plus for my G1 phone.

Works great.
Pros: i bought this to replace my D-Link DI-624. i couldn't be more happy with this router. i replaced the firmware with DD-WRT firmware and its great. i've owned this router about 6 months and have not had one problem with it. i recommend buying this router and using the DD-WRT firmware.
Cons: It didn't come with DD-WRT preinstalled.
Other Thoughts: i could just like this router because the DI-624 completely sucked :)

Range poor, customer service worse
Pros: Worked alright for 1 month, though with limited range compared to other n routers.
Cons: After ~1 month of use, router became "flakey". Specifically - would allow connection with 1 wireless computer (A) but not another(B). Dropped both. Reinitiated connection with computer B but not A. Sporadically allowed lan communication. When connected internet access terribly slow. However the connected computer was not able to ping the router 75% of the time. Intermittent connections occurred when taken to a second lan and connected with different computers. All said - a defective device. Final step - replacement with a different router resolved all issues and restored all connectivity with all machines.
Other Thoughts: In my experience, I have had a variety of devices go bad or have issues. But the customer support that I recieved was abysmal. After 1.5 hours of troubleshooting to the point of escalation to 2nd tier support my call was dropped. On calling back the records for the 1st call were lost. Starting again - now just starting on 3rd hour, I have yet to recieve an RMA on what is obviously a defective device. Apparently Linksys is a poor relation in the Cisco Family, from whom I have recieved excellent support in the past. I do not recommend this product or company because of the poor support and unwillingness to replace a defective product.
Update 3.5 hours into support calls recieved reference for RMA and then will have to call back tomorrow to initiate that process. Not feeling the love.
By the way - no problems with Newegg - purchase lots from them - fast service, good product

Running hot? Flapjack time!
Pros: Able to flash with DD-WRT. runs like a champ and has never let me down. Gigabit ethernet for local-small domain database testing holds up to the load and begs for more.
Cons: None. If half of you would just do some research before buying this router, instead of complaining about the heat, you should have deduced one thing: ADEQUATE VENTILATION. Seriously, just flip it upside down.
Other Thoughts: I bought mine elswhere, back in May of '08. 6 months now of 24/7 uptime on DD-WRT, yeah it puts out heat. If you're too modest to just put this thing on its back, then you deserve to let it overheat. All I have done is layed it upside down and secured it to my desk. Has yet to shut down or fail on me due to heat.

Does the Job
Pros: Excellent router. Flashed with DDWRT and it's even better!
Running this router as a client-bridge (using DDWRT) in a mixed env with a WRT54G V 2.0, a WRT54GL, and a WRT350N running as the AP/DHCP server.
-Brings connectivity to every room in my 120 year old house.
Cons: None so far though I prefer the look of my 350N this one looks less technical than my VOIP box...
that leads to the second con no external antenna port (primarily why I use it as CB rather than AP) as I could use the extra transmit power gained from a larger antenna (I have 19th century plaster walls to beam thru).
Other Thoughts: Ignore reviews by people who have "somewhat high" or "high" level of understanding when they claim that a router has faulty "drivers" for vista. Router's don't require drivers they are abstracted by the ethernet port...
Their problem is with on-board device drivers (wireless NIC), not the router so their comments should not be taken seriously when considering a product like this.

Sage advice
Pros: Gigabit router, wireless N, cool looking.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: To anyone with heat issues, I bought a $5 laptop cooler at a yard sale! After reading reviews on here about heat, I still bought because you can not go wrong w/Cisco.

Pros: I wanted a router with gigabit, this router had it. Although I do not use any of the ports, I just thought I needed it. It works perfectly, I enjoyed configuring it and it has a typical Linksys interface
Cons: None that i can come up with
Other Thoughts: It works great and has perty blue LED's

Problems with Vista 64 Bit
Pros: Works flawlessly with Windows XP but not Vista 64 bit. Stays cool if you mount it on the wall. Fast speeds using the Linksys WUSB600N dual band wireless network adapter.
Cons: As soon as I upgraded to Windows Vista 64 bit, the connection would pause every 30 seconds for about 3 seconds. Very annoying since I paid $70 for my usb wireless network card adapter and still can't play any online game without getting lag. I checked the Linksys website and most of their routers do not have drivers for Vista.
Other Thoughts: I'm still using this router with an ethernet cable connection instead of my wireless N adapter for now. I'm just hoping new drivers will make it stable. Disregard my previous post, every wireless router should be compatible with Vista. Waste of money!

Faulty Design Results in OverHeating
Pros: Great interface and easy administration, a hallmark of Linksys routers.
Cons: Due to faulty design and/or manufacturing, the unit will run extremely hot eventually resulting in damage to the router. I am on my 3rd unit, so this appears to be an ongoing problem that has not been resolved with this unit / design.
Other Thoughts: The RMA process at LinkSys / Cisco is horrible. Worse, they will charge you the price of a brand new unit, but send a refurbished unit to replace the defective one. After only 4 days of operation, the refurbished unit began over heating and locking down as well. Unless you live in the north poll or an igloo, this unit should not be purchased. I run my air conditioner at 70 degrees, and most people complain about how cold it is in my house, yet this unit still overheats. If you are looking for stability in a Wireless N router, then you should definitely look elsewhere.

Freken Rocks!
Pros: Easy to set up, Really fast, incredible distance!
Cons: she gets a little hot, But if you screw her on to the wall she does not. I guess lying flat restricts air flow to it somehow.
Other Thoughts: I love this thing. I have never had a bad experience with a linksys router, and this one has not disappointed.

Junk
Pros: None I can think of.
Cons: Died after a month of use... came home one day to a blinking green Power LED of Death... one computer would work ok, but when more than one was online, got a message that "this IP address is already in use by another computer on the network"... attempted to restart, no go, reset button didn't work, attempted to upgrade firmware online, but page wouldn't load! I'm pretty irritated, since 1) router cost me a hundred bucks, 2) it died 3 days after I could have returned it to the store, and...
Other Thoughts: 3) what really fries my rear is reading these other reviews, some of which say that after they upgraded the firmware, the router worked ok. I WAS going to upgrade the firmware, but Linksys said (right on the upgrade page) that it was UNADVISABLE to upgrade the firmware if the router is working ok... which it was at the time, so I didn't. But AFTER IT DIED, I couldn't upgrade the firmware any longer! Stepped back down to Netgear wgr614, no problems since.
I also had problems with 2 D-Link 1000mps routers (neither of which worked out of the box) before this fiasco. If you're a power user that likes the latest stuff, you're welcome to this fairly new technology (somebody's gotta test it out!) If you are an average, fairly knowledgable user like me, I would not recommend purchasing a gigabyte router from any manufacturer until the technology is more reliable.
