Slower than Fast Ethernet
Pros: It could have been faster than built in fast ethernet port.
Cons: Maximum Transfer rate under Win2K SP4 or XP SP2 was 37M bits per second out, 137 Mbps in. Native Fast Ethernet Port in same computer 94.5Mbps In/Out with same test setup (Iperf tool - no disk latency involved). Performance of D-Link card not improved with V1.10 D-Link drivers or RealTek 8169 native drivers.
Other Thoughts: Might work better if you have a cardbus controller other than TI PCI-1410/1420. Low speed not caused by CPU load - driver simply not trying to send faster than 37Mbps. D-Link tech unable to resolve. RMA'd the card. All RealTec 8169 based cards likely to have same issue.

Works...
Pros: Works as advertised. What more there should be to it?
Cons: No default drivers for 1 gigabit mode on older Windows OS.

Solid value.
Pros: Does what it says. We've used 4 of them to network a bunch of notebook PCs together for several months now, with no failures. This is the only way to add gigabit ethernet to a notebook that didn't have it built in.
Cons: You have to install a driver for it to work under Windows XP. This may be a slight annoyance if you are in a managed Windows network environment, as you'll need administrative access or to have an administrator install it for you.
Other Thoughts: None.

Great on Linux & XP
Pros: This card has worked flawlessly for me on four different laptops (3 Thinkpads & 1 Dell) running 3 different Linux distributions and Windows XP. I did not need to install a driver on any of these machines or operating systems. They all detected and configured the card automatically.
Cons: As others have mentioned, the card is large. However, I have been able to use it alongside wireless PCMCIA cards on all machines. The fit is just snug.
Other Thoughts: I already have a D-Link wireless router, so I chose D-Link again to improve my chances at system-wide compatibility. I also know that I will be gradually upgrading my network to Gigabit speeds, but this is the first Gigabit item I have bought, so I can't say anything about speed gains with this card. Meanwhile, it is working brilliantly on my current 100mps network.

Pros: Does what it was designed to do. Much faster than Ethernet and faster than Fast Ethernet! Works with Windows 2000.
Cons: Driver CD that was packaged with the product wouldn't work in the CD on the computer to which the Adapter was being installed but a different CD drive read it without problem (?).
Other Thoughts: Tried Brand L's product first and it has a problem with Windows 2000.

D-Link DGE-660TD - Great performance improvement
Pros: Fast and easy setup of about 10 miniutes including reboot.
It self executed the drivers with XP.
Cons: I wish it was a little more compact.
Little bit over priced.
Other Thoughts: Large file transfer between computers is greatly improved.
General file directory searching off the server is like I’m working directly off my laptop.
The higher speed convenience is worth the investment.

gigabutt
Pros: easy to find drivers, as with most PCMCIA cardbus cards, installs without a hitch.
Cons: no speed advantage over a 10/100 connection for the normal user
Other Thoughts: Kind of useless for a laptop, unless you have a few drives attached to USB 2.0 setup as RAID 0... I have yet to reach data transfer speeds (involving r/w to the hard disk) greater than 10BaseT

New Egg ROCKS, D-Link sucks badly
Comments: I ordered this at midnight only because linksys did not make a compatible product. Newegg got me the card TWELVE HOURS LATER on express saver! The unit arrived absolute, total, complete DOA. None of my laptops respond that there is ANYTHING in the slot -- giving me nothing to work with. Dlink COMPLETELY refuses to respond at all to multiple requests for tech/RMA to get this doorstop replaced. This is my first experience with Dlink, and I won't be rushing to have another after they took my money for useless metal. Maybe I could scrape ice out of the freezer with it, but there's no way it's going to work as a network card.

Great!
Comments: Card works and holds gigabit speeds for hours and doesn't get too hot for a PC card. Make sure you get a Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable for true Gigabit operation.
