Great Router for media streaming
Pros: I am using the dlink 855 on my beach home network. I am steaming NetFlix Hi Def movies to 5 big screen TVs. Since I have the 1 dvd/HiDef plan ($10) my maximum hi def stream is two movies simultaneously (one free).
My home is 3 floors with the router located on the west side of the 2nd floor. Right now, I am using my laptop on the east side of the 1st floor. My laptop says that my signal strength is excellent. My TVs look amazing in HiDef over the dlink 1522 bridges on 4 TVs and a PS3 on one of them. I am using Network Magic to administer my network and I don't have any regrets about buying dlink. In fact, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
One word of caution. I am not a techie but I am kind of feeling like a genius right now. Actually I do realize that it is to dlinks credit though.
PS: NetFlix has an excellent support group. It is amazing that I have access to 1,000s of movies on five big screens for $10 per month.
Cons: Right now I am trying to figure out how to remotely administer the network from my home 85 miles away. I am not sure that is possible with the dlink 855. If it was possible, then when I am allowing a guest to use my home I can help them if they screw something up and not have to drive 85 miles to do it.
Other Thoughts: One of the reasons that I stayed with dlink is because my home router dlink gigabit 655 has been kicken along for about two years without a hickup.

Remake of DGL 4500?
Pros: INTELLIGENT QoS, separate bands for older WIFI and newer WIFI, gigabit Ethernet.
Cons: $100 more than almost identical DGL 4500, HOT...all of the expensive Dlink Routers run HOT when you are using most of the features I dont know why they just dont build in a heatsink and fan system in them. So far from my old DGL 4300, DGL 4500 and now the DIR 855 I have to have them sit on a laptop cooling pad otherwise they reboot and drop connections anywhere from once a day to once a week depending on use. With a Laptop cooler under them all the random rebooting went away.
Other Thoughts: rumor has it DGL 4500 is on the way out no more Firmware updates forcing everyone to buy this model for $100 more which is basically a rip off for buying the almost same exact router...this router should have been caled the DGL 4600

Looks nice; doesn't work
Pros: Looks nice; cool display. Good feature set and well designed web interface.
Cons: It's hard for me to express my frustration with this device and with D-Link tech support. Bottom line: despite hours on the phone and firmware upgrades and a replacement unit; the router locks up at least once a week and needs power cycling. That's completely unacceptable and makes the produce unusable.
I'm replacing it with a Netgear.
Other Thoughts: D-Link tech support is horrible. Long waits to speak with people who don't understand the products. Then get passed off to next level support but no notes in the record. They're a huge time sink. When finally agreed to replace under warrenty a 30-day old modem; I had to pay to ship it back! They seem to care nothing for customer satisfaction.

Worst Router I have ever owned
Pros: Has good number of features. Looks nice
Cons: Poor Range. If you buy this you will regret it as many complaints about loss of network connection every 48 hours or so. No solution despie firmware upgrade. Go to D-Link forum and see for yourself. I have to physically walk to the basement and unplug and replug in to get function back. I'm returning mine after 2 months use - using the AMEX return Protection.
Other Thoughts: Going to Try the Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH which has good reviews and high power antenna

Happy With Router
Pros: I spent a lot of time looking through every router on newegg.com, I choose this one and I’m very happy! I have my external hard drive hooked up on it, showed up instantly on “my computer” after upgrading the firmware and installing the share-port software, so cool! A lot of options that you get to change and choose very intuitive’ clean admin menu. I really recommend that if you are looking for a router that will give you an easy gigabyte network speed (nice part in the admin menu you can set it to gigabit only port). I want to include I wanted to find a true “n” and true “g” wireless because it really does separate it so when you’re using a G with it and you have a N laptop, well it won’t affect it at all.
Cons: A little Pricey, but thats because its quality
Other Thoughts: Make sure you visit dlinks website and upgrade the firmware as soon as you get this! When i did my External hard-drive showed right up on the network via Shareport utility!

No Problems, works great
Pros: I have no issues with the router, out the box and updated firmware. it's been running since 2/20/09, wireless has not dropped either on the 2.24 or 5.0ghz. setup webpage is ease to navigate, I have 30mbps down and 5mbps up and the router share the bandwith with no problems.
Cons: I use mac address filtering for everything wireless but you cannot set it just for the wireless devices it must be set for every equipment using the router. so if you have pc's and laptop's you must place the mac address in the router for it to work. I don't believe in security codes, if your mac address is not in the router you can't use it. The color might be ugly but it stands out from the modem and swicth. It maybe expensive but it’s worth every dollar.
Other Thoughts: I use a laptop for downloading everything (games, movies, software, bad stuff) the laptop is conected 24/7 to the router at and it works like a champ. I play xbox live and download and browser the web. xbox live on the 2.24ghz has never dropped and have downloaded huge files from the service with no issues.

NA
Pros: The 5Ghz band works really well for me when I do not lose the internet connected and also it does not restart itself as often as the 2.4Ghz band.
Cons: I lose my internet connection every few days (both wired and wireless). I have to either unplug the power on the router or the cable modem for about 30 seconds to reset everything to get the connection back up. DLink support has not been much help. I have updated the firmware, but the issues still occurs. I might switch back to the old router soon. The 2.4Ghz band keeps restarting itself every few hours.

Disappointing...
Pros: I love all of the different options that they give you!! It's very fast and powerful when using the WIRED side. It handles jumbo packets.
Cons: I'm using the latest firmware 1.20NA and the wireless 2.4Ghz constantly resets.
Everyone is reporting this problem and DLink has not really responded.
It's very expensive.
I bought it to replace my Linksys WRT610N, because it doesn't support jumbo packets...but I've now removed the DLink and will be returning it and I'm back to using the Linksys.
Other Thoughts: The white color is ugly.

A Step Back For D-Link
Pros: The OLED screen is a nice touch, very well laid out and plenty of information with just a few button presses. I really liked being able to read the status of my network right at the router without needing to log in using a PC. This is the only reason this router gets 2 stars, otherwise I'd rate it 1 star!
Cons: Unfortunately the range on this router was disappointing to say the least. Considering that this is supposed to be a premium product and an upgrade to the DIR-655, I feel like this is actually a step back. I fail to understand how D-Link allowed this product to be released. With this router setup in the same exact spot where the DIR-655 it replaced used to sit, I get about half the range of the DIR-655! Does this even make sense? 2 rooms between my laptop and this router and I can only get 2-3 bars out of 5 compared to 4-5 bars with the DIR-655 and the further away you go the worse it gets. From about 200ft away using wireless N, I can barely pull 1-2 bars compared to 3-4 bars with the 655 and finally at around 400ft, absolutely no signal where I used to get about 2-3 bars with the 655. Get the picture yet?
Other Thoughts: This router needs to be recalled and removed from the product line IMO. I'd prefer to pay a premium for a new revision of the DIR-655 with the OLED screen and upgrade in the future when D-Link figures out the issues and finally releases a worthy Xtreme N Duo router with range as good or better than the DIR-655. Seriously speaking, I can only see this working for someone with a small studio apartment with maybe one wall between the router and the farthest point where wireless will be needed. Otherwise stay far, far away from this product everyone! Read and listen to the majority of reviews, save yourself some cash and frustration and stick with either the DIR-655 or DGL-4500 if you need 5ghz wireless N. Also to the many thinking they need 5ghz to stay with the times. You will need a N card that supports 5ghz to even make the connection in the first place and your range will be reduced even further, so unless you're using a media center 15ft away from the router, I'd rethink that plan.

Headache here too!
Pros: Solid Brand and Device Specs
Cons: This device worked well for almost 3 weeks. Then, without warning it began to cycle its 2.4 and 5Ghz wireless service. They went up and down, over and over. I called DLINK because this was not something I could figure out. I do have an advanced set of skills, but was unable to solve the issue. DLINK support was amazing. Although outsourced, they were top notch and very smart/fast. It did take me two calls to get an RMA though. The device isn't three weeks old, so I am very dissapointed in the hardware. The revision is A2, and the firmware is 1.12. The other comment from december is very much like my experience. I have owned the DIR-655 and the DGL-4500 and this was to replace the DGL-4500. I recommend holding off until DLINK gets their act together.
Other Thoughts: Looked good on paper.

Pros: New Egg delivery and warranty
Cons: 1 - Router would drop wireless signal constantly. 2 - Router would drop bandwith down to 56k modem speeds. Went back to my old Dlink655 which also drops wireless signal but dosent cut my bandwith.
Other Thoughts: Does anyone make a good router anymore? Dual band Draft N with gigibit lan, what is so hard? No one can write firmware anymore?

Amazing dual band action
Pros: It is fast! Just replaced a DIR-825 I bought less than a week ago that I was not too impressed with. With three antennas on this one, range improved instantly, as well as throughput. Wireless access to my NAS now gets close to 7MB/s compared to 4MB/s with the 825 (at 5GHz and 15ft separated by 2 walls). I could not believe it! It can now streaming HD videos and have room to spare.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I had a DIR-655 for two years, it worked so well I hesitated to go to dual band. With the DIR-855, it is definitely worth it.

Excellent
Pros: Easy install. The display screen is nice, but not necessarily useful for most people. This is the best simultaneous dual band routers out there (no mixing), noticeably superior to Linksys 610 (heats up and drops connections).. and I happily used a Linksys WRT54 series for years.
Cons: Haven't discovered any yet... perhaps the bland white color of the unit, doesn't go well with my black motiff (HP Blackbird 002 and Dell 24 inch monitor)
Other Thoughts: Happy to be in the N-era at last. I have 3 laptops, two desktops, 2 color laser printers, PS3 and XBox360 linked in.

Intermittent Connection
Pros: Awesome features, 3 antennas, QOS
Cons: After a month it seems to keep dropping it's connection to my cable modem. I've had to switch back to using my old DI-655. Gona Call D-Link to see if they have a means to fix it if not, RMA

Newer revision
Pros: Very Fast transfer speed. Nice display, look high-tech. Nice finished, not too shinny. excellent Coverage (all my 3 floors house, plus basement). dual band broadcast.
Cons: Pricey. Only available in white only. not practical for vertical standing, the middle ant. will block ports if not in upright position.
Other Thoughts: If you can lived without the lcd display,d-link d825 is a better choice(cheaper same performance.) and also if you can lived without dual-band broadcasting, D655 is a bargain.D-link said, it fixed the wiring problems. Own D-855 about 45 days, so far so good, let's hoped.

Recalled
Pros: OLED display, Simultaneous DualBand, more features then anyone could ever understand let a loan use.
Cons: Dlink sent out several thousand units that are defective (according to Dlink's website the units were wired wrong). When accompanied by the DAP-1555 it was designed for, you get a total loss of connection within minutes. Faulty chipset limits upload speeds to 150kbps.
Other Thoughts: I waited 6 months and then paid $800+ for the DIR-855 and 2 DAP-1555 media bridges only to receive unofficially recalled equipment. The first batch of defective DIR-855 routers revision A1 are being replaced by Dlink at no charge for the customers that realize the equipment is faulty. The wireless totally fails on the 5G band and the wired upload speeds are reduced to a max of 180kbps.(when I bypass the router my upload averages 1700kbps). When calling tech support you will spend about an hour with a level 1 tech as they have you change settings and try to convince you that it will correct all issues. Once you refuse to accept that it's your overclocking or ISP that is causing the problem you will be stepped up to level 3 tech. As soon as you tell the tech what model your calling about you will be told that it is a configuration error and you will immediately receive a RMA for a replacement unit. I am now back to my $39 WRT54G and my $40 bridge and it smokes the $800+ junk from D-link.

recall by d-link
Pros: Looks awsome
Cons: D-link recalled a bunch of these because of a manufacturing mistake. (incorrect antenna assembly) They said it affected performance. I Wonder if that was the problem.

ehh, having problems
Pros: Easy to setup. Tons of options and settings. Optimization for Media Center Extenders.
Cons: Unable to connect to the 5ghz radio for longer than a few seconds. I've tried two different laptops and the D-Link DAP-1555 Media Bridge. Error I'm getting over and over is: [INFO] Fri Feb 01 20:16:35 2008 5GHz Band xxxx: Wireless system with MAC address xxxxx disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication
Other Thoughts: Support has been unable to resolve the issue.
