Pros: Cheap! easy to setup, good range.
Cons: Cheap! My unit started locking up after about a year. The firmware was the latest from trendnet. Eventually, I had to reboot it so frequently, that I quit using it and am looking for another. English manuals are very poorly translated.
Other Thoughts: It's cheap, it did what I needed. I'm considering whether or not to get the same unit again till some better 802.11n units get cheaper.

Try this
Pros: Works
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: For those having trouble here are a few suggestions that helped me.
1. Upgrade firmware. I bought this Jan 30 2010 and it did NOT have the latest firmware. My connections dropped like other until I upgraded firmware. 1.3.0.84 is the most recent. Mine came with 1.3.0.82 installed 2. In bridging mode (WDS) set channel bandwidth to 20 instead of 20/40. Not sure if this is because I have g & n on my network but it would not bridge when I set both APs to 20/40. 3. double check settings and follow the instructions that are ONLINE NOT the one that comes with the unit. The manual online is more recent than the one it come with.
With all that figured out my Bridge and g connections are stable. If they go bad I will repost. It has been 5 days and no more problems.

Love it
Pros: Got to upgrade my wireless to draft N without having to replace my D-Link gaming router.
I noticed a huge performance increase over the wireless g my router was putting out. Much stronger signal and speed.
Cons: Can't think of any.
Other Thoughts: I'll get a wireless N router someday, but this is more than good enough for me. Helps gives me a reliable connection to my PS3 and laptop.

It Just Works
Pros: Works. Am using as AP and wireless bridge. I bought 2. Trendnet is not as well known as Linksys or Belkin but I have two switches and now two APs and they just work. Simple to understand and navigate.
Cons: I had to buy two Linksys Recertified Routers and return them before I bought these. Lost some money but these so far are great.

Not Bad
Pros: It works, compact, leds are not annoying.
Cons: A bit of a pain to set up. Ended up creating a second wireless network versus extending the current network on a D-link Gamers Lounge. May work better with a Trendnet router. Range in my setting is a little better than my previous wireless setup. Running WAP AES/TKIP mode is better protected, but shortens the range. As with most wifi
Other Thoughts: Under Windows 7, I connect at a higher transfer rate around 128Meg. Under linux, it does not connect any better than my 54G. That is more driver related. Passthru of dhcp may require changing connection timeout to obtain TCP/IP addresses. Overall, happy with purchase. Price is far more appealing than competitor products.

Pros: Inexpensive, easy setup, small, good signal strength and speed at short distances.
Cons: My biggest complaint is that this device requiers reboots very frequently. At first this was not an issue, but after 3-4 months I am now rebooting the device every day. Communication speed drops off dramatically with distance from the device. Yes, I get a signal at 50 feet, but it's communicating at a crawl.
Other Thoughts: The every day rebooting after 3 months of operation probably indicates that heat effects on componant are taking its toll. I suspect the device will be nonfunctional in a few more months.

Nice little AP
Pros: Small, powerful, easy to use, attractive case, universally compatible with any network. This fit nicely into my mixed equipment network without too much trouble. I haven't been using it very long, but the web interface is clean and simple, yet powerful with lots of configuration options. Very nice.
Cons: The included CD appears to be required to initialize the AP the first time. The default IP is 192.168.10.100 but this IP is unreachable until the CD is run AT LEAST up to the 4th screen, where you can set a static IP for the AP. Once you reach that screen you can close the wizard and just use a browser for the rest of the setup.
Please Note: When I say "The Default IP is unreachable until you run the CD" I MEAN unreachable. Not only doesn't it respond to a browser query, it isn't pingable OR scannable using any standard protocol. I even tried running several comprehensive Nmap probes on the IP and came up with jack until after I ran the CD. I've never seen anything like it.
Obviously this is a PROBLEM for Mac and Lin users as the setup CD is Win only. TrendNet, while the CD is a nifty way to set up the AP (in a technical sense) It is VERY BAD PRACTICE to use non-standard protocols just to INITIALIZE the web interface. You lose a star on that one.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my venerable Buffalotech WGA54 Access Point which, after nearly a decade of reliable service, finally gave up the ghost and died (R.I.P) Sadly, Buffalotech stopped making plain APs, (router/AP combos only now) so I couldn't go get another from them, and didn't want to drop the coin for a router when I would just end up disabling most of it's "router" features.
This AP was very highly rated, had many excellent reviews. At the time I bought it, Newegg had it on sale for half price and free shipping, so it was a no-brainer.
Once I got past the goofy initialization issues (see Cons: above) setup was a breeze and I was able to greatly improve my wireless security setup from plain WEP on my old Buffalotech AP to WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. of course, I'm the most tech-savvy guy on my street, so a break-in is unlikely. But it's nice to have.
So far this AP appears to be a good fit in my network, It will probably be a good fit in your network too.

Awesome product
Pros: Easy setup. Easy instructions. Low price.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: From opening the box to having my wifes netbook surfing took all of 5 minutes. THE easist install ever. Strong signal, fast speeds, low latency.

Worthless for Mac and Linux
Pros: None.
Cons: Completely useless. The only way to install it is to run a Windows program on the included CD. Come out of the box with an illegal MAC address (presumably for that program to find it.) Did not respond, even to pings, on either the address my DHCP server gave it or the the default IPs on either the PDF manual or the manufacturer website.
Other Thoughts: I will never buy a TrendNet product again. This is a slap in the face to Mac and Linux users. I wish I could give zero stars.

I found the best one.
Pros: The best for your money, I have used 3 other big name AP's and Routers and this one works the best, at 1/3 the money. Also works with Linux. Easy setup too.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Buy it.

Works great
Pros: Works exactly as advertised. It is very useful as a standard access point in a home network where you already have a wired network with a router in place. It was nearly plug-and-play. My daughters are happy, since now they get higher speeds for watching ripped DVD videos on their laptops from our media server. No stuttering like with our old (and much slower) AP that got fried during a storm.
Cons: It's not free :-P
Other Thoughts: I had no need for a wireless router, since I have a hardware based router already, and a simple AP like this that I could plug into the wired network suited the purpose perfectly.

It Works Well
Pros: - Great Coverage - Great Signal
Cons: - Semi-Annoying configuration via CD. - At first operated in G mode even though my laptop is N
Other Thoughts: Don't get me wrong the configuration is simple. Plug it into the network, put in the CD and it'll find the device and let you configure it; however, I guess I am just partial to web page setup which was not explained in the manual. All in all its probably a better way to set these things up.
Otherwise these things increased the coverage in my house greatly!

Could not get bridge mode working
Pros: Can't say any pros because I only needed it to do one thing and it did not.
Cons: Would not work in bridge mode. Called TrendNet and found their support knew less than knowledgable.
Other Thoughts: Returned them.

Nice and Easy
Pros: This is an incredibly easy to set up box and performs very well. Much better range on my older G cards. Also while there is performance degredation in mixed G/N mode as you would expect, it is far better than older B/G in mixed mode.
Cons: Not really a problem for me, but since the wired connection is only 100Mbit you can't achieve the full 300Mbit of throughput.

It really is easy
Pros: Works off your existing router Adds WPS capabilities to older wireless routers Very straightforward admin interface Reliable
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: I bought this to run an N network independent of my existing G Rangemax Netgear router. Works as advertised. Now that I have hard wired the media-intensive devices that used N, I have disabled G on the Netgear and handed over full time WiFi duties to this little TrendNet workhorse.

Easy upgrade
Pros: This was an easy upgrade, unplugged LAN cable from old access point, plugged it into TEW-637AP and was able to connect right away. Speed increase was HUGE. My Lenovo X61 tablet, now using a wireless N connection was able to download a 3.7 GB ISO image file in about 8 minutes!
Cons: There were a couple of glitches: 1) a 4 year old Toshiba tablet was not able to connect using wireless G protocol. and 2) I wish it had a Gig port for the LAN connection. Handling multiple 300-400 Mbps wireless connections with a single 100 Mbps LAN connection seems like a bottleneck.
Other Thoughts: Web interface for administartion was fairly simple to access and setup security

Inconsistent, unreliable
Pros: Good range.
Cons: Constantly drops the connection, low throughput when connected with N (on Windows 7).
Other Thoughts: I had hoped this would let me have N speed within my network (on N devices) with a Linksys G router handling the routing, DNS, etc. While my signal strength is much higher with this device, the actual delivery of data and consistent connectivity is unacceptable

Garbage!!
Pros: I now know to steer clear of this company, indefinitely.
Cons: This unit, since the 2nd day of operation (an estimate)... loves to continually, irrevocably and spontaneously fail on all connections. Only a reboot will put it back online... sometimes... for the next 30 seconds.
Other Thoughts: If you get this, honestly... you're a complete fool. I am!
Manufacturer Response:Valued Customer, We are sorry for an inconvenience this may have caused you. Please contact us at sales@trendnet.com and reference "New Egg product review" and someone will contact you immediately. Warmest Regards, TRENDnet Sales Team

Refuse To Connect @ n speed
Pros: Cheap upgrade from current wired network to wirelss. I set the speed at 801.11 g/n mix mode and all my devices connect to this ap easily at g speed. Signal is fairly good when compares to my old Linksys g router.
Cons: My Sony VAIO notebook comes with intel 4965 adapter which is capable to connect at n speed, but it only connects to this ap at g speed. If I set the wirless mode to 802.11 n only, it refuse to accept connections from any devices. Basically, it does not work at 801.11n mode.
Other Thoughts: The only good thing about this router is the range. If you are after the faster speed, you should look at other wireless router or access point.

Unreliable connectivity
Pros: When it would stay connected, it was great. Very fast.
Cons: But it wouldn't stay connection. Two notebooks and one desktop were constantly dropping out. Another annoyance - when setting up WPA2 security, the device will not accept non-HEX characters.
Other Thoughts: Will be sticking with my current wireless-g router for the foreseeable future.

I'm sure it would be fine....
Pros: Well, I'm sure it would work just fine. Everything seemed to be packaged correctly and when I used a secondary adapter that gave approximately the same power rating as the one that is provided everything seemed to power on correctly.
Cons: The power adapter that came with the device was not working. I was able to verify this by using a similar power adapter that had a similar output.
I have to knock 2 eggs off for that because albeit I understand Q/A processing and inspection and I know that sometimes it isn't fool proof but I was the unlucky one that got the faulty power adapter. I will have to go out and manually by an A/C adapter with an output of 1A @ 12V to properly allow the device to work.

So far, so good
Pros: Allows me to connect my wired home office to my wireless router in another part of the house. Reasonable set-up effort. Good value.
Cons: The manual on the disk did not discuss AP mode.
Other Thoughts: I installed the following configuration to replace a Netgear wireless G network that I had been using for a couple of years. A TEW-639GR router was attached to my cable modem on the first floor. A TEG-S80G and a TEW-637AP were placed in my home office on the second floor. Three computers and a printer were attached to the switch. The switch was cabled to the access point. The main problem I had during set-up was that the manual on the disc did not discuss AP mode so I could not immediately connect the router and AP. I had to cable my laptop to the router to get internet access so I could download the current manual. With the correct documentation, it was a breeze to get the router and AP talking and my network was complete. I have had fast, reliable internet service throughout my home for about a week without any drops or restarts.

Worth it to me
Pros: Works! Been solid so far, fast.
Cons: Poor documentation. No gigabit, will max out the 10/100 interface. No 5GHz which is a must for an area with a high concentration of 2.4Ghz devices.
Other Thoughts: For the price I got it at I can't complain.

Wireless N Upgrade
Pros: Easy setup. strong signal and Wireless N standard upgrade for my network. Nice value at this price. I even checked out Trendnet's web site for this product and was very happy to see full support and downloadable documentation. The manual is well written and will be helpful for Novices.
Cons: None yet
Other Thoughts: Someone's review knocked the item because it was so small and light. That would be true if you are setting it on a desk, but I mounted it to a wall using Velcro tape mounts and the fact that it was light light was perfect for this application.

Great little Wireless Access Point
Pros: The TEW-637AP has completely stabilized my home broadband wireless connection. I had constant signal dropout with my Linksys wcg-200 wireless cable gateway and bought this with the hope of keeping a strong signal. I wasn't disappointed. This little gem worked as advertised. Ibought a second one for our church. See details on each configuration below.
Cons: If you have a combination modem-router (wireless gateway) setup is somewhat of a pain. I called my IP and they connected me with a TrendNet rep. If you talk to TrendNet be patient with them and tell them exactly what is happening during the configuration process. They are courteous and helpful. After about 15 minutes they had my AP configured and working.
Other Thoughts: The second of the TEW-637AP's was for my church and I connected it to a DSL modem simply by using the setup disc and instructions. I was configured and operating in under 3 minutes. I would have given the TEW-637 AP five eggs had the configuration been as simple on both installations.

Not reccomended as a bridge
Pros: Can work as an access point if you do not have wireless already.
Cons: When used in WDS mode (required use this as a bridge or extender) the only security mode you can use is WEP. When used with WEP security the maximum connect rate is 54 mbps. Does not always work in WDS mode could not get it to connect to my TEW-639 wireless router even configured as reccommended by Trendnet tech support.

Surprisingly quick Setup
Pros: Purchased this on black friday to help alleviate some dead spots in my home wireless network, as well as boost the wireless signal strength to my patriot box office device (for streaming movies in particular). The price fell in line with other b/g devices (all of the other electronics on my network are G for wireless), and while I can't comment on whether the device reaches its rated 300Mbps, Its been working quite well to date for the spectrum I have. I have the unit plugged into the wall (ran cat5 throughout the house a number of years ago) on the opposite side of the house as the router, and all dead spots have been quickly eliminated.
The unit is a bit smaller than I was expecting, though it's also a very solid little bugger. Both size and build quality are above average for these types of consumer devices.
Lastly, while some have mentioned trouble setting up the unit - it took maybe ten minutes with the included software for me. Incredibly easy especially compared to rou
Cons: Does not include multiple CAT5 ports, so do not confuse this with a switch. Simple, just make sure you know what you're buying - if you want a wireless access point with a switch - look for a different device. This is specifically designed to be a wireless access point, nothing else.
Would have been nice if the unit has mounting options, it does include a stand however.
I'm not sure whether at $40 or $50 it really is worth the price since it's not a full fledged router or gateway. Might as well grab an inexpensive N router and put it in AP mode. Still, at the $25 sale price on black Friday - the ease of setup and size alone are quite handy.
Other Thoughts: As mentioned before, I don't have the ability to test up to the max rated speeds, so for those who are very speed conscious - you may want to check out some of the other reviews.

Pretty terrible
Pros: Cheap, small.
Cons: When it worked, it was underpowered and prone to dropping wireless signal, requiring a manual reboot. It was anyone's guess as to whether the configuration page would show up when you type the IP into the browser. Finally got bricked by a firmware update. Don't be fooled by the cheap price like I was.
Other Thoughts: It took a couple of missteps on my part, but I finally learned my lesson: In networking, you nearly always get what you pay for. Go with a more recognizable name brand.

Simple
Pros: Plug it in anywhere on your network and instant Wi-Fi acess... and if your worried about hackers or people piggybacking off of it just pop in the CD it came with and it auto detecs it anywehere on your network and lets you modify and or change the settings.
Its also Very small and compact.. easy top hid under your bed or furniture.
Cons: The network cable it comes with is about 1' in length...
Other Thoughts: I have two of these setup in my house on either ends so theres no dead spots.

RMA'd for Crashing
Pros: When it was working it seemed to work well.
Cons: This AP needed frequent power cycling due to crashing. The unit is back on its way to Trendnet.
Other Thoughts: It seems several other reviewers had the same issue. Hopefully, it will be resolved.

Pros: + Easy to set up, hook it up, pop the CD in your computer and run the program and a minute later you're running + Provides a good signal + Small size
Cons: - I don't understand why the adapter only has a 10/100 Ethernet port when the wireless-N standard can support 300Mbps. Its somewhat disappointing and misleading to advertise it as 300Mbps when in reality its limited to the 100Mbps ethernet port.

Good, when it works
Pros: Works great when it works. I'm using it in mixed B/G mode, since I don't have any N machines.
Cons: The web UI is poor and documentation is even poorer. To properly configure security for N can be pretty complicated and the instructions aren't any help. For someone who knows what they are doing though, it works fine. The big problem is that it keeps randomly crashing every few days. Sometimes I've found that the web interface is down but the wireless is still working. Other times the wireless stops too. Rebooting always fixes it. For the price it may be worth the trouble for some people with easy access to the unit, but not for me. It has gotten to be quite a PITA since not everyone who uses the network has access to to reboot it.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to go with my existing wireless router (wireless disabled) because I had wired the house for ethernet and moved it to my basement, along with my cable modem, Vonage modem and battery backup. I had been using a second wireless router upstairs in an "unsupported configuration" -- it had been rock solid for the past few years but I had no access to the web UI in this config so changing passwords etc was a problem. I happened to need a wireless router elsewhere so I decided to upgrade to this and kill two birds with one stone. I was amazed how much non-router wireless APs cost compared to wireless routers and was glad to find one at a reasonable price. It would perfect for my needs if it were stable. I guess I'm going to have to get one of the much more expensive units!

Don't waste your bucks with it
Pros: Cheap...you get what you pay....
Cons: I have an old Linksys G router and I was trying to improve the signal at home using N. Unfortunately this product is not reliable. The connection drops a lot. After upgrading its firmware, it died completely
Other Thoughts: Support did not help at all and suggested to replace the product. I gave up and probably I will never buy any Trendnet product (it was my first time) again in the future

DON"T BUY THIS
Pros: None, never got it functioning.
Cons: I spent hours on this, and then two one hour sessions with technical support and couldn't get it working. At the end of my second 1 hour call they told me they didn't know why it wouldn't work, that something must be wrong with it. DUH YA THINK! Then it was suggested if I upgrade to a more expensive model with more options instead of swapping for another of the same item it should work - yeah right - I've had enough headaches with this thing.
Other Thoughts: This is the first return I've ever had to send back to Newegg, and I'm surprised to have to pay shipping back on a defective product. Don't think I'll ever purchase a Trendnet product again.

Still Struggling to set up
Pros: its supposed to be fast
Cons: I've spent about 8 hours trying to set this up over the last 4 days but haven't gotten it functioning. I don't consider myself that sophisticated when it comes to networking, I have had no trouble setting up additional PCs, laptops, Tivo and other devices (nothing else has taken me more than 15 minutes or so)
Other Thoughts: I've contacted customer support, but its only been a day and half so I guess so'll wait another day before returning it. Of course I hate to restart this process I wanted the darn thing working a few days ago. So far I don't believe the 'easy' logo....

Good enough for simple purposes
Pros: Basic functions are OK, Can be used with DSL modem Westell 6100
Cons: Can't transfer files bigger tan 2-3GB - always crashes (at least with the WPA security ON). Firmware upgrade did not help.
Other Thoughts: bought it here for $25, free shipping

works great after upgrade
Pros: This is a great add on for extending the range of a single wifi router to somewhere else in your house via a cat 5 cable. I initially had the problem where it would hang after about 1 day but after upgrading to the 1.3.0.84, 16-Sep-2009 firmware its been rock solid. I'd recommend anyone having that issue do the same.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Some complained that it only has a 100 mb port on it, but usually with wireless you don't get anything beyond that anyway so I don't see it as something negative.

EZ install - works great.
Pros: This thing works great as advertised. You can use the install disc for the initial setup and have it use dhcp to get an ip from your router. You don't need the install disc if you know the default ip which was 192.168.10.100 - your computer should be on the same ip scope to connect.
You can connect to the unit using the ip address via a browser with the user name: admin and the password: admin
The web interface is pretty intuitive and I used it to set the unit up in AP mode using a static ip. This way I could move the unit much farther away from my wireless router [wrt54g running DD-WRT] and really stretch out the area of my wireless network.
Cons: Poor documentation on the web interface.
Other Thoughts: The default ip is on a strange ip scope. They should make this so that is gets it's ip from a DHCP server by default. I think it would make this more user friendly out of the box.

What the manual doesn't tell you!!
Pros: I'm giving this 4 stars as a preliminary rating based upon my ability (so far) to get a 270 mbps connect rate. However, it wasn't easy, and I'll explain why.
I paired this AP up with another Trendnet product --the TEW-621PC cardbus N card for laptops. However, I couldn't get the darn thing to work correctly. Multiple issues...turns out the TEW-637AP goes through its setup and doesn't quite give you the default settings you need...not for a "mixed" wireless environment, anyway. I have a couple of "G" devices as well as the 621PC N card, so all had to connect to the 637AP.
Problem: The legacy G devices could connect fine, but the 621PC N Trendnet card would only connect in "G" mode, not "N". I wrote to tech support, and get this: The guy writes back and tells me "It will only get an N connection if you set it for Channel 1 or Channel 11"! Huh? It also needed to be set for "20/40" channel width, but the default config after you run setup is "20". Continued in "Cons"...
Cons: Continued from Pros above... OK, so I go back into the 637AP config and set the thing for Channel 11, and set the Channel Width to "20/40" (vs "20") and also put it in "Mixed Mode" vs. "Greenfield". Greenfield is for a totally "N" network. That's one of two "Mixed Mode" settings. The other "Mixed Mode" settings was to put it in "G-N Mixed Mode", so it would connect to both G and N devices. There's also an option for "B-G-N" and individual ones for "N only", etc. But "G-N" mixed mode works fine for me. When you set the Channel Width to "20/40", it also toggles ON a Channel Extension mode, which is supposed to use another channel for better throughput.
Other notes: I ended up using the Ralink RT2860 drivers for the cardbus 621PC card, as it's a rebadged Ralink Tech product. I'm not sure if the stock drivers would have worked since I found out about the 637AP settings changes after I installed the Ralink drivers.
Other Thoughts: So, that's where I'm at. I will monitor this and update the review if need be. But right now it's got a solid 270 mbps connection out of a theoretical 300, so that's about all I can reasonably expect. Let's see how it performs.

Won't work with iPhone 3GS 3.1.2
Pros: Cheap, good signal strength.
Cons: This thing has two major problems in my experience:
1. The MAC filter is a placebo. I put a few MAC addresses in, but anything can connect, whether it's "allowed" or not. This wouldn't be much of a concern if it weren't for:
2. Neither of my iPhone 3GS devices can connect with this AP on any higher security level than WEP. I keep getting "Incorrect password for [SSID]" on either WPA or WPA2. My Wii and netbook can connect fine. I would simply state "this is a problem with the iPhone" except for the fact that I can connect to my neighbor's WPA2 network without issue (I helped him set it up; he knows I was there :).
I am therefore forced to leave my older WRT54G (first hardware revision) online which this was intended to replace.
Other Thoughts: These problems occur for me on hardware v2.0R, firmware 1.3.0.84.

Great Upgrade
Pros: Significantly improved signal over my original Actionetc/Fios connection. Easy install, the directions actually worked. Needed to reboot both computers, but after that it works great.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Anyone with Fios and the Actiontec router can benefit, providing of course their hardware can handle the wireless n signal.

difficult to setup
Pros: Works as a bridge with N connectivity and WPA/WPA2 security. Inexpensive, a lot of value for money.
Cons: Confusing setup , weird IP address 192.168.10.100, have to use a laptop with a fake IP address like 192.168.10.99 just to access it.
Other Thoughts: Contrary to some other reviews, do not clone your router's MAC address for AP( wireless repeater) mode, just set the same SSID, wireless channel and a security key. If you clone MAC address, you'll have two identical devices with different IP, but same MAC - which can halt your entire network ( as wired as well as wireless)

Awesome
Pros: Great Price. Small unit. Works great. Instructions from another review showed the way. I will be buying 3 more of these for customers.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I was having problems with a remote wireless ptz camera only getting 35% signal. I plugged this in and set it up in the "same location" of my Netgear wireless router. My camera saw the Trendnet AP with a 70% signal. Amazing! I set it up in AP Mode Support to extend the wirless signal and moved the AP closer to the camera and now I get 100% signal. The camera's ptz functions are instant compared to 5 second delay before. I followed the instructions from another review down below and it worked wonderfully. Thanks.
I used the "AP Mode Support" instead. This means it connects like a client, repeating your existing network wirelessly (not wired.) So I turned that on, stuck the LAN MAC address of my Netgear router into the AP MAC Addr. (Optional) field, hardcoded both the Netgear and this AP to Channel 11, Set the Trendnet to have the same SSID as my Belkin, Trendnet to b/g mixed mode (must disable N since Belkin has no N) Then saved and went into security mode. Set the security m

NEEDS WDS
Pros: Shinny
Cons: Hard to use, your router needs to be able to have WDS (Wireless Distribution Service) in order for this to work. I was buying this as a bridge for my devices but I have done everything to try to make it sync wit my wireless router but it didn't work.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a Bridge/Access Point to connect your wired devices to a wireless network, then buy a real product meant for that. This will require you to have WDS in order to work properly.

Just what I needed
Pros: I was just looking for an AP to put in the center of my house so I would have good wireless coverage throughout the house and even some coverage outside on the patio. I set it up plugged it in and it worked perfectly. Great range throughout the house and on the patio.
Cons: Non so far. If I have any problems I will report back.

Pros: Fairly easy to setup. Manual on TRENDnet's website is much better than one that comes with device for explaining wireless network configurations (see page 20).
Setup two of these in the WDS mode to act as a transparent wireless bridge between two wired networks and it works great for that.
Cons: When transferring data at near 100Mbps (or streaming HD video), the AP will randomly cut out (every 3 to 5 minutes) and seemingly drop the connection. This is using an updated firmware which was recently release (9/16/2009) to improve performance during heavy wireless traffic. For lower speed traffic, works just fine (e.g. streaming SD video).
The device does not support 300 Mbps since the Ethernet port won't negotiate to anything higher than 100 Mbps. I've connected it to a GigE switch and to a GigE NIC (cross-over cable) and it still negotiates to 100Mbps.
Some of the explanations in the manual and the web interface are confusing. For example, an error on the security settings page states, "AP-client's security policy only supports NONE, WEP (OPEN, SHARED), WPAPSK and WPA2PSK (TKIP, AES). " That doesn't seem right since both APs are in WPA2-PSK AES and communicate just fine

cheap but unstable under moderate lods
Pros: Its cheap. Does give N speeds. The system does seem to browse the internet faster with it.
Cons: Starts dropping connections when using p2p/bittorrent. After some time will keep disconnecting randomly. Only way to get it working properly is to reboot it. I am back to using my 4 yr old WRT54G.
Other Thoughts: It is cheap so good for someone trying to use it to upgrade to a N network. Don't buy if you will be putting it under some load.

Nuthin but net
Pros: I bought this to wirelessly receive streaming video to my Samsung TV's RJ45. Configure with a PC to AP client and hook to RJ45 of network-aware device like gaming console, printer, media player, TV, TiVO. Works like you were hardwired. Signal strength was better than the Wireless PC I configured it with, so I'm happy with that. It came with a high quality but incredibly short ethernet patch cable: about 12 inches.
Cons: The price is high for what it is. Consider the number and quality of radios in your cell phone.

A resonable product
Pros: Good price, easy to setup, Works most of the time
Cons: Fast signal strength degradation. Unstable built-in web server configuration utility.
Other Thoughts: I have this device configured and working. It is configured in g/n mode, WPA2-PSK, single SSID, 20/40 mode. I do not have any n devices at this time -- g only. This device replaced a g router I have been using (rebuilt my infrstructure with a central wired distribution and a separate AP). It is installed in the same spot as the previous one before. The problem is that I see a very quick signal strength degradation. At distance of about 20 feet and two walls (wood/drywall/plywood) I barely have any reception, while with the previous one I had no problem connecting at full signal strength and full 54 mbs speed. Choosing different channels (auto and manual) does not seem to help. After a while the built-in web configuration server on the AP stops responding even that the device still works. A power cycle helps this issue ...

Bought two at the low price
Pros: 802.11n, WDS, and AP Mode for very low cost. I'm getting 300Mb connectivity (That's under 100Mb/s of actual usable bandwidth fwiw.)
Cons: Documentation is lacking. The web Interface sometimes quits, restarting fixes it. The included cable is not twisted pair (Cat3?) and it is too short. If you leave the WIFI on your existing AP turned on, this one will turn it's radio off as it's too close with the included cable. So either turn off your existing AP's radio or get a longer cable.
ARP can be an issue. It takes ARP up to 15 minutes to flush MAC addresses on your devices. This can cause odd slowness when you first start using it, depending on how you set this up. After about 15 minutes this cleared up for me.
Other Thoughts: I bought two. The first one is in 802.11N only mode, 20/40 bandwidth, with WPA2-AES only. This services my faster machines. It is plugged into my Belkin 54G by a 6' CAT5 cable. My Asus BOX 206 and Mac connect fine. WDS requires WEP on both ends. So on the second one I used the "AP Mode Support" instead. This means it connects like a client, repeating your existing network wirelessly (not wired.) So I turned that on, stuck the LAN MAC address of my Belkin router into the AP MAC Addr. (Optional) field, hardcoded both the Belkin and this router to Channel 1, Set the Trendnet to have the same SSID as my Belkin, Trendnet to b/g mixed mode (must disable N since Belkin has no N) Then saved and went into security mode. Set the security mode and key to match that of my Belkin (WPA TKIP in my case.) I save that then changed the IP from the default of 192.168.10.100 to something on my Belkins range. Unplugged the wire and now it's repeating my signal on the second floor.

Good bang for the buck
Pros: Reasonably priced, full feature set. Support for WPA2/WPA enterprise is nice for small business to set up secure wireless the right way. Quick simple setup. Small form factor.
Cons: Unit only has a 100Mb ethernet port. Even though you'll realistically never get 300Mbps on 802.11n a Gigabit port would be nice.

300 MBps? Not if you want any spectrum left over...
Pros: Using http://192.168.10.100/ to set up the device, it was a snap to get up and on the network. Immediately got 144 MBps reported from my wireless adapter...
Cons: ...however after doing some benchmarking, the actual throughput was closer to 21 MBps, no matter how close I moved my laptop to the AP. Further, I misread the tech specs and didn't realize that this device works on the 2.4Ghz range. Setting it to 300 MBps 20/40 mode pretty much eats up all the spectrum in the house (and a couple of houses down). Finally, what's the point of a 300 MBps AP that has a 100 MBps Ethernet port? So even if you could get the max throughput, you're still constrained by a slow link tethering back to the wired network. Blah.

Great buy
Pros: I've had this unit for 4 months now running 24x7 and it has been rock solid. I have not had to reboot it a single time and the performance has been fine.
Cons: The only complaint I have is that it's a little light weight. It sits on top of my 7 foot computer rack and if I don't have the ethernet cable hung in the right place, it goes clattering to the floor.
Other Thoughts: I've got three of these running now on separate channels all connecting to separate interfaces on my firewall and have had nothing but good luck.

I have three of these. They are great.
Pros: I have three of these. I am using two as access points and one as a bridge.
Contrary to some of the reviews here, you can use these as bridges. The original firmware did not support it but the newer firmwares support something confusingly named "AP Client Mode" which is basically bridge mode.
To get bridging to work you have to enable "AP Client Mode" and tell it both the SSID and channel of the AP you want to bridge to (channel "AutoDetect" does not work.) You also have to set the security settings to the same values (through the security page, as if you were configuring it normally.) You can optionally give the wireless MAC address of the AP.
Other reasons I like these:
- They support multiple SSIDs at once, with different security settings (but all on the same channel.)
- Their signal strength is much better than other access points I have used in the same environment.
Cons: The wired ethernet port is only 100Mbps. This is less than the 300Mbps speed of 802.11n. In practice this is not really an issue since in a realistic environment where the devices are not right next to each other you are unlikely to get much more than 100Mbps through the air anyway.
The manual is written in Engrish and is not very informative.
Out of the box the wireless defaults to ON and the security settings default to DISABLED. Don't plug it in and forget to configure it.
Other Thoughts: There are at least two different versions of the hardware and they take different firmware. The firmware versions (and download pages) are confusing and do not clearly indicate this. Make sure you are using the correct one if you try to update. The easiest way to do this is to go to TRENDnet's site and browse for it rather than trying to Google it up.
Also if you have no 802.11b devices left make sure you set the wireless mode to g/n only (or n only if you have no g devices either.) There are enormous differences in speed between the b/g/n, g/n, and n-only modes.
As other people have mentioned, you do not need to use the Windows-based setup utility if you know what you are doing. When you take them out of the box or reset them the web interface comes up on 192.168.10.100 (admin/admin). Just set the address of one of your wired computers to something else in 192.168.10.0/24 and you can go in and change the address to whatever you want (or to DHCP.)

Great affordable AP
Pros: Fast, easy setup, takes only minutes with cd setup and don't have to modify PC IP to config AP. Very reliable connections, had my laptop constantly on and I have not noticed any trouble of disconnection for over several months. Most of all, best price.
Cons: Once complete the CD setup. The config on the web browser could be improved. I don't like to have to reboot the AP everytime I make changes in the AP. Also noticed, that using wireless to web into the AP has an issue. As you can only access once or twice using wireless to web into the AP. You have to reboot the AP to use wireless to web into the AP. But on wired connections, it worked fine. I guess it's for security reason so no too many unauthorized access from wireless connections.
Other Thoughts: I bought this because I'm not satisfied with all in one wireless router. Wireless router has to process wireless connections, wired connections, and maintain its firewall, etc. With the Access Point, it only have to worry about the wireless connections. So now I turned off my wireless router's radio, and just use as a router. So now my network has been happy ever since no more network trouble. Knock on wood.

Really Good AP
Pros: Cheap, Great Range, good signal, very easy to set-up, Been up and running for about a year now and only had to reset once, which in my book is golden.
Cons: In a year, I have yet to find one con. This has got to be the Best Bang for the Buck I've gotten from The EGG.
Other Thoughts: I live in a Basement Apt. with a deck outside and get great signal every place I need to move my Laptop. Even if I set up in a space where there is a cinderblock wall between this AP and my Laptop, there is a Good signal. The only time I did reset it was when I noticed the BPS had dropped and wasn't changing in a few days, the signal still was Great but Data had slowed down. A Reset solved that and have been good for months on end. I got this on special for 30 bucks about a year ago. Great Deal....Thanks TRENDnet and Newegg!

It's ok for the price
Pros: Cheap access point and easy to configure. it gets the job done. It correctly shows all of my uPnP devices over the wireless.
Cons: Wireless strength is a little weak but has decent coverage for a 1200 SQFT home.
Other Thoughts: I paired this up with a RVS4000 and no issues so far.

Not bad....
Pros: I waited about 3 months to review. These things hold up. They are VERY light though. I have mine on the floor because it's liable to end up there anyways. I cannot attribute any dropped connections to this piece. I have no quantitative data to support an increase in speed; however, we're talking up to 3 bars.
Cons: Thing has been a little finicky with WPA2 security when adding new devices to the network. I did the network a little ad hoc style so it may be user error.
Other Thoughts: My setup: Older Motorola cable modem/ Belkin Wireless G Router / This guy. My wireless N USB key was slower than PCI Wireless G; stick to real stuff!

iPhone 3GS WiFi solution
Pros: I bought this to replace the Verizon FiOS wireless router because try as I may, I couldn't get the darn thing to interface with my iPhone 3GS. I shut off the wireless part of the FiOS router and plugged this TRENDnet wireless upgrader and it works like a charm. It works with first gen iPhone, iPhone 3GS and a Dell notebook and Asus notebook both with draft n wireless cards. Took about 15 minutes to install and gets much further coverage around the house and even outside.
Cons: Unit is a little cheap looking and small, but it works and that's what is important.
Other Thoughts: I was happy to use this fairly inexpensive unit to upgrade my home WiFi to Draft N and to allow the use of the iPhone 3GS. So far it has been rock solid and allows the full 20 down / 5 up connection to my FiOS router.

Worked nicely for 3.5 months.
Pros: Easy to setup. Great signal strength. Light and small.
Cons: 1) Unstable, needed to be power cycled once in a while 2) My unit stopped responding (lights on but it won't DHCP to my router)... looking into resetting / flashing firmware / RMA 3) My Apple Airtunes (the little router thinggie you can buy from apple for 99 bucks that streams itunes music) does not like it. Now it is connected to my old G network.
Other Thoughts: El cheapo unit... wished it were more reliable. Bah!

All it said it would do
Pros: Great range, very deceiving with the size of this AP seemed like it was not powerful enough to transmit signal through my multiwalled home. For test I just powered it on the opposite corner of my home on the first floor and got excellent signal strength on the 2nd floor, about 3 walls too. Consistent service no downtime since final configuration. N-Speeds incredibly solid
Cons: Just the weight. I had to strap it down with velcro.
Other Thoughts: Definitely worth the investment

Unreliable
Pros: Unit was easy to configure, once I upgraded the firmware so that the device would pull DHCP. Signal Strength is good, and the range is also good.
Cons: Unit is unreliable. It needs to be rebooted usually one a day (sometimes twice) and today it stopped working with a couple of my machines. I can connect the machines to the network, and Vista says it's connected to the Internet, I can even ping Google, but I cannot sign-on g-talk, or load any webpages. Wated a couple hours troubleshooting. Then I turned the radio on my G router back on, and experienced no problems at all.
Other Thoughts: I bought this as a cheap alternative to replacing my Linksys WRT54G that I have running DD-WRT. Now I guess I need to invest more time looking into a DD-WRT compatible N router.

Pros: 802.11N speeds are decent. Easy to setup.
Cons: 100MB ethernet, 1GB would have been much nicer and more useful. Overheats easily and requires rather frequent power cyclings to keep it stable. Needs some kinda of active cooling in it, or near it.

Impressive!
Pros: Impressive speed and even more impressive distance. Not necessary to reboot periodically like some other APs and routers. Easy setup with CD, but the CD is unnecessary. You can get to the TEW-637AP by using any browser and entering 192.168.10.100 as the address (may require a temporary change of your computer's IP), 'admin' for the user, and 'admin' as the password. Great for HD video and HDTV use, especially in 802.11n-only mode and with a matched adapter.
Cons: Firmware needs transmit power control and better bridging technique. A lot of unneeded confusion for the user regarding the term 'WDS' which is somewhat similar to bridging, but not quite. Hopefully all will be addressed in a future firmware upgrade. Gigabit Ethernet would be a welcome addition for this AP. The 2 ft. network cable included could be longer for user convenience with AP placement.
Other Thoughts: Even with the cons mentioned, NewEgg's price makes this a fantastic purchase. Photos don't do the size justice. Check the specs. This thing is small and lightweight. If you have issues with it slipping around like I did due to lightness, just go to your local mass merchandiser and buy some rubber feet (especially helpful if you don't use the provided vertical stands).

Great budget 300mbps AP
Pros: I was looking to upgrade to a 300mpbs draft-n AP for a decent price and this certainly does the job. I came from a Zonet 802.11g AP and it would drop sometimes, disconnecting my network drives on one of my file servers. I benchmarked the old Zonet at 54mpbs theoretical and got ~2.1 MB/s peak throughput (16.2 Mb/s) on my ASUS 1002HA and with this I got 4.31 MB/s (34.48 Mb/s). I would like to get faster results eventually, as I haven't tweaked all of my settings. Running an iwconfig and noting the signal level and link quality shows an improvement over my old Zonet as well. Firmware is very up to date, with the newest released on June 9. I flashed it without any problems. I'm going to begin testing soon with a MIMO equipped Encore 300 mpbs card, hopefully some high throughput can be achieved.
Cons: The initial setup (I think) must be done on a Windows machine. I didn't mess with it too long, as 1 of my rigs has Vista (of 3), so i just popped the disc in and went from there. Not a really big deal at all. The documentation from the website's manual seems to be a bit out of date; since I flashed the firmware I see some settings descriptions missing. Luckily they're fairly self-explainatory, however I felt it was worth mentioning.
Other Thoughts: If you're in the marked for a fast AP for >$100 then get this. Benchmarks performed on an ASUS 1002HA w draft-n with Arch Linux x86 by transferring a 350MB iso image from a network drive on a Vista wired PC over a DLink router to the /home partition of the 1002HA. Results monitored using iftop -i wlan0 -B and I took the max value over the entire transfer.

Check the specs
Pros: Works as described.
Cons: Does not support bridging which was how I wanted to use it.
Other Thoughts: Since I bought 2, I used WDS to create a point-to-point connection.

Works good -- Hard to setup
Pros: -Cheap -If your router supports WDS then it will work as a wireless bridge (which i what i bought this for) -Pretty good range
Cons: -Extremely complicated to set up as a wireless bridge -No documentation at all on how to do WDS bridging
If you are thinking of buying this as a wireless bridge, but you have a hard time navigating menus and a limited knowledge of networking jargon then do yourself a favor and buy a real Wireless Bridge for $30-$40 more.
I was able to this as a wireless bridge using WDS because my D-Link DGL-4300 supports WDS bridging. It took me a long time to struggle to get it working, but i am now using the TEW-637AP as a wireless bridge for my Xbox360, Xbox1, and several other consoles.
Other Thoughts: Im going to list some of the settings i used in the hope that this saves some of you a major headache.
On the Dlink DGL-4300 you need to first disable "Auto Channel Select", then set the wireless channel to something besides the default (i picked channel 3). Then goto the advanced wireless options and enable WDS and input the mac address for the TEW-637AP. Also, turn off any wireless security you have on (yep, i couldnt get bridging to work while WEP or WPA was on, im using mac filtering now).
On the TEW-637AP, set the wireless channel to 3 also (or to match whatever wireless channel you picked for the router). Enable WDS, and input the mac address for the Dlink DGL-4300. Change the wireless mode from "B/G/N mixed mode" to just "B/G mixed mode" (when i had 'b/g/n' seclected i couldnt get it to work, i think because my router didnt support N). And lastly, set the SSID to match the SSID of the DGL-4300.
Hopefully that works for some of you out there.

wap
Pros: The access point works as expected. When set up I get a sustained 89-94 Mb/s. There has been no downtime at all since set up.
Cons: The web gui becomes inaccessible, which would be a problem if I changed it frequently. The AP functions flawlessly except this. I'm sure I could access the web gui if i were to restart the device.
Other Thoughts: Price is right for what you get. If you buy a C*Y*SCO you would never have an issue like this...

easy set up
Pros: Very easy setup. Great coverage , beat a major brand (that i used to hold in high regard) wireless router i have since returned. signal at three bars in vista through three walls and one floor in an old house with THICK stucco.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: if you can't set this up you don't need wireless. seriously though it's very good.

Great
Pros: What a stinking breeze. Pop the cd in, plug it in, follow a couple steps and your golden. Works great in my underground earth house made with tire width walls. For what i paid this thing is amazing. Exactly what I wanted. 3 year warranty too.
Cons: Could have added some weight to it.
Other Thoughts: If you need to convert your wired network into or expand to a wireless n network, this is perfect. A+++

Just what I needed.
Pros: Cheap, but I got it when it was only 20 bucks. It lets my laptop use Wireless N. This thing reaches anywhere in my house. I tested how strong the signal was for both APs. To give you an idea, the connection was unusable when it dropped around 30. The best connection I had was 85 and this was achieved when I held the laptop right up to the access point. Out of the 18 spots I tested, All of them have a very good to decent signal (8 good and 10 decent) with the AP. Only 13 had a usable signal (6 good and 7 decent) with the Linksys router. In short, the trendnet AP give me a signal in the five spots the Linksys couldn't and on average the trend net AP's signal was about 6 percent higher.
Cons: At first, the setup was a pain. You have to use the setup disk to assign it an IP. I couldn't get it to work with a WEP key for my Nintendo DS so I set it up with WPA and just use my WRT54G for DS. I have 6 desktops in my home, each assigned a static IP and they kept losing connection because another device, (either laptop or access point) was stealing their IP. Simply changing the last number of the IP fixes this.
Other Thoughts: If you're planning on running a cable to connect this on the opposite side of the house, please measure before you buy the cable. 50 ft barely cut it for me.

Good overall - not for Uverse
Pros: It was very easy to set up, and probably does exactly what it says. It will work as a range extender for any home network.
Cons: It will NOT function as a wireless access point with Uverse hardware.
Other Thoughts: Called ATT and they said it would not work with their hardware, nor will any wireless access point. You have to get the adapters that turn your home electrical outlets into a wired network. A bit more expensive, but easy enough to do.

Solid
Pros: This access point is solid. Its got great performance on my home network. There are so many options available that you usually only see on business class access points, such as multiple SSID and multiple encryption types.
Cons: The average joe wouldn't know what they're looking at when they get into the config.
Other Thoughts: Don't have a wireless N card, so I can't test that performance.

Flawless
Pros: Cheap, small and reliable.
The configuration pages are clean and to the point. The configuration pages respond quickly while browsing and changing them.
Cons: User guide does not provide enough details for us techie types. I would like to know in greater detail what the settings do.
Other Thoughts: I have had great luck with TRENDnet products. Why pay more when you can get a quality product for a good price? I have my TEW-637AP bridged with a TEW-638APB and it works flawlessly. I could not be happier!

finally got wds bridging working between my two TEW-637AP
Pros: Cheap Get to keep my DD-WRT router.
Cons: Firmware interface. Original firmware was quite buggy for all but basic use. Poor documentation. non-upgradable antennas
Other Thoughts: I'd say that this was worth the sale price that I paid for it, but for the MSRP this is way too limited a piece of hardware. I got it for about half of MSRP. I got my first during a sale, and then another later when I saw the same price. I wanted to set up WDS bridging between the them.
With the original firmwares (1.02 and 1.1.something) on the two units, I couldn't get it working. I just used one of them as a basic AP, and that worked fine.
Today, I noticed that Trendnet has a new firmware (1.2.0.26) up on their site that let me finally get it working.
The non-upgradable antennas are a bit of a bummer. I added some parabolic reflectors I made from pasteboard and foil (freeantennas.com/projects/template2) to the antennas of one of the units. after some tweaking of antenna position, I managed to consistent transfers of 40 Mbps between them. Some say that the 100 Mbps port is a drawback, but consider yourself very lucky if you are limited by it in real word transfer rate

So far, so good
Pros: Installation was extremely easy. Just followed the instructions in the manual and worked out first try. The things is really small and a light so it doesnt get in the way...just left it on top of the old b router that is connected to it...
Cons: none so far...really hope it lasts...
Other Thoughts: Was having trouble with several b routers that I own...wireless was constantly going on and off and i had to reset the routers constantly...now, I just connected this to the router and disabled the b wireless and now I have a great and stable connection (fortunately my b routers wired connection works perfectly)...Im not using any wireless n adapters yet so I dont know if the jump from wireless g to n is really worth it...but I got the access point on sale so it was definitely worth the upgrade from b to n...buying this definitely saved me money over buying a wireless n router altogether...

Fine for the price
Pros: Great AP, simply works, allows for multiple SSIDS
Cons: I cant seem to find out what its ip address is, unless i use the windows-only utility.
Other Thoughts: I wonder if there is an alternative firmware...
