Rating + 4 worth the money.

Pros: i just upgraded from my d-link 150 and I must say I am impressed by the speed of this thing. I'm getting about 120mbps on my Belkin wireless N router. I've never lagged with this thing at dling, uploading, games, etc.. Hawking did there hw with the satellite dish. the thing about the thing is about 6" tall..

Cons: the cd software was full of ****. Hawking should of had the installation on there website. I let windows 7 "re-install" using recommended settings even though I followed every instruction -____-

Rating + 4 Works well

Pros: I live in an area where if I want free internet it's for the taking. I have about 5 open access networks within my grasp. I still pay for internet through my cable provider. just nice to know I have backup if needed. Especially how things are now. If needed I can drop cable like a hot potato and piggyback off a helpfull neighbor. Piggyback is ok, just don't be a compete pig and use too much bandwidth. This thing really is great for aiming around my apartment complex to find strong signals. Once conected with 2 to 3 bars it works flawless. The better signals for me are the 3 - 4 bars and I pick them once in awhile just to surf around on if my wife is torenting on our network.

Cons: Kinda big, got my dad the HWUN1 and I kept this Lost In Space one instead. To be honest I liked the HWUN1 better. Not alot better, but the size was better. Also seemed like the HWUN1 just picked up better than this one does. Unless I start aiming this thing around and pin pointing.

Price for this thing just seems too much. Go for the HWUN1 it's a little cheaper and does the same job and it's smaller.

Other Thoughts: This one is a good USB wireless adapter. I have used Hawking USB adapters from the start and have yet to be let down.

If Han Solo needs a new one of these to put on his Millenium Falcon he can use mine.

Rating + 5 Good adapter

Pros: It picks up signals I didn't know were there.

Is going through 3 walls and getting a "very good" signal compared to the "very low" signal I was getting with my old garbage D-link DWA 130 card, which I eventually destroyed in the "office space" style due to constantly weak signals and disconnections.

The Hawking configuration tool is much nicer than the windows zero configuration tool. Much more info is displayed. It is not as user friendly but if you know what you're doing you will be fine. I also noticed significantly faster download speeds with this card. Pages load faster and is nice for WoW and other online games compared to what I had.

Cons: Can't point downward as much as I would like.
Is not wall mountable.
Doesn't make me french toast.

Other Thoughts: All the talk of this product being built cheap is kind of ridiculous to me. Just take care of your stuff and it will last its life span. Don't put your valuables in small bags and such.

I am impressed with this card and love how small it is. I think I will buy a router soon from Hawking if it is anything like this adapter and switch from my old Linksys WRT54G.

Haven't tried its drivers with XP 64 bit but read a review where they worked and hope it does. I was specifically looking for a adapter that is powerful and works with XP 64.

Rating + 4 It works...

Pros: It works. Hawking connection management software is not bloated and actually helps to better control and manage your connection than the WinXP zero conf tool does. I get about 240-270 Mbps on a TRENDNet TEW-633GR router that is positioned in a closet about 50 ft away on the same floor.

Cons: I was immediately skeptical of the included software so I opted to use the Windows wireless tool on my first install. It was a pain in the neck and I could only get local network, no internet. I reinstalled and used the Hawking configuration tool and it worked fine. I recently formatted and reinstalled XP and the installation went very smoothly. As is kind of stated in the product title, it is for Windows. No linux support.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you keep your driver CD because if you have formatted your computer you won't get anywhere without it. XP SP3 does not include drivers for this network adapter so you need to install them from the CD.

Supposedly this can be made to work in linux, but I was not able to make it happen. The solution involved using ndiswrapper and a driver from some chinese website that HAPPENS to work with this wireless chip, though it is for a different adapter. A very jury rigged solution but apparently some people have gotten it to work in Ubuntu, just know that it won't be easy.

Rating + 4 Good Product

Pros: I think this is a good product, but I believe I am too far from the WiFi antenna at my RV park. I went from 1 bar to 2 or 3 bars when i sat on my roof. I would have to waterproof the antenna and use USB extensions.

Cons: I believe I need a Yagi or something like that.

Rating + 4 Turn Automatic Updates off

Pros: Long range, ability to work with any PC. Picks up signals where a laptop's wifi comes up short.

Cons: As stated for the title for my post, Turn Windows Automatic Updates off. Took me about 2 weeks to discover that the when the last update occured it incorrectly detected the dish and ended up having all sorts of problems connecting.
To resolve this problem I completely uninstalled the software and drivers, rebooted and then reinstalled the orginal software.
I am now able to connect as I did before the problem occured.

Other Thoughts: I thought I would share this information as I haven't seen anyone posting any information concerning this issue.
I still would get this item again if I needed another one, as it is still one of the best wifi items I have ever had the privledge to use.

I didn't purchase this item thru Newegg as they didn't have the item just yet. But I would have picked them first had it been in stock and available.

Rating + 5 HAWKING HWDN1 DISH

Pros: This dish retrieves signals across long distances and holds on for the ride. Downloaded Vista updates and Service Pack 1 from a neighbors wireless router without a glitch.

Cons: Price and size. The price will come down. If this baby was just a bit more compact it...

Other Thoughts: This device is just about perfect

Pros: see my other review

Cons: see my other review

Other Thoughts: I forgot to mention that the three computers I've used this on all have Windows XP. I haven't had a chance to try this with Vista yet. It also includes software for a Mac, which I'll also never have the chance to try out.

Rating + 5 Well worth the money

Pros: The dish is made from very thick plastic. The base isn't as thick, but still feels durable. Rang is good. I get a average signal of 85%/270Mbps from my Netgear WNR2000. It's going through 3 walls and floor in my house.

Cons: Can't pick up free satellite TV. But it still has a cool shape. But if I were to be serious, then all I could ask for is a wall mount option and for the dish to be able to point more down.

Other Thoughts: Installation was a breeze. I think I was most impressed with the software..... it's simple and it works. I work in IT for a casino and hotel. We offer free Wi-Fi and I help guest get connected every other day. I have never come across 3rd party software that I liked until now.

Rating + 4 works as promised

Pros: Picks up networks everywhere. 100% connectivity to Uverse wireless (g) network. 80% in furthest region of house, but speed is still good.

Cons: Awkward to place if you don't have space. Software that comes with the unit is OK, but had problems with it grabbing onto the first open (non-secure) network it could find until I made a profile for it to start up.

Other Thoughts: My other wireless adapter ($45) doesn't even hit 100% unless you are close to the router. So far works great!

Rating + 5 Wow!

Pros: Just installed it and have super range. I couldn't even get a signal before. I now have super fast internet.

Cons: The dish will rotate from 90 deg to 180 deg. I could not point it down. I had to put a stack of sticky notes to aim it correctly. Still works like a champ. Also windows zero config utility says that I have poor signal, yet I can surf the web and transfer files with not problems and no lost packets. I have seen this enough to know just to ignore it.

Other Thoughts: I have this connected to a file sharing network with zero glitches as of yet. Mapped drives work like they were plugged in via cat5. Using WPA2 and a wireless N. I also used wep on a wireless g with no problems.

Rating + 5 Hawking Rocks! Newegg Rocks!

Pros: Put in the CD, installed the driver (no reboot required), plugged in the Hawking wireless N adapter, selected my wireless network, put in the WPA2 pass code, and away I went. 270Mbs from the top floor office to the basement office (WRVS4400N wireless router in basement). Signal strength "excellent". Great product. No problems. Range is awesome!

Cons: None. Worth every penny.

Other Thoughts: Had a Netgear wireless G adapter that worked fine, but wanted extra throughput from the upstairs office. Glad Newegg is always there to give us a heads up on the best products! Newegg - You rock!

Rating + 5 simply amazing

Pros: does everything it says it does. I live in an apartment complex and I do not pay for internet, however, with this bad boy I am able to get a signal through at least 3-4 walls about 50 feet away stealing wireless-g and still getting a constant 54mbps. I plan on getting a wireless-n router and internet service in the future for the full 300mbps, but for now this thing handles everything i throw at it.

Cons: it doesn't tuck me in at night.

Other Thoughts: it may be expensive, but it is well worth the price.

Rating + 5 HWDN1

Pros: Wow. This thing is powerful. This is by far the most powerful adapter I've ever seen. I connect to the net using a city Wi-Fi network. My downloads are now blazing and the connection is 100%. I hear the access point loud and clear and it hears me perfectly. I'm now picking up signals from about 3 times as many AP's as I did with my old Netgear adapter. I love that the dish folds down. I'm getting 100% signal through the roof of my apartment building to the AP. This thing has 2 separate antenna's built into the dish, both working at the same time. The directional antenna isn't effected by common interference sources like microwave ovens. This thing is so fast it's unbelievable. In fact, this thing sucks down internet faster than the network can provide it! This adapter is freaking unreal, no joke. I would have paid over $100 for this easily having now tested it, 100% worth the price. Stop looking at other adapters, you've found the one you need.

Cons: It looks and feels quite expensive, but a couple parts seem fragile. It's lightweight and the antenna has absolutely no give or bend, it's fixed solid. Meaning a little force exerted on this antenna and it may snap right off. Of course, this is an expensive, advanced piece of computer equipment and it's rightfully easy to break. Don't plan on moving this around very often. Backpacks and laptop cases are a no-no.

Other Thoughts: It really is much smaller than the image appears. It's slightly larger than a big mac sandwich. It does not look gaudy or stick out too much. It's so drop-dead fast you'll see double the internet. I know that when I move to a bigger home, I won't need a new adapter. Before you test how far it transmits, you'd better put on a diaper first. Cause you're gonna dump in your pants.

Rating + 4 Mini Satellite Dish

Pros: -Link Quality never drops below 100%
-Ping time in games are just like if i were directly connected; (using FIOS 15/15 Package)
-Install and Setup, ~2 minutes
-Enables Desktops to be wireless

Cons: Signal Strengths vary from Good (-55db) to Normal (-62db). Not really a con, just don't like the inconsistency. Causes fluctuations in Download speeds and Ping times. Not much, but when you're trying to download TF2 on STEAM, every little bit counts =)

Other Thoughts: I'm roughly 30ft away from router, which is located on the 2nd floor, in the masterbed room. Desktop is near the entrance on the 1st floor; signal traveling through 2 walls.

Rating + 3

Pros: I've picked up signals from other wireless devices in the neighborhood, most of which I didn't even know were there.

This thing focuses the signals so you can get a much stronger signal to/from your target wireless device.

Cons: The focused signal also can make it difficult to maintain a decent signal for distant targets where there are obstructions. I had to have the signals bounce around a bit for a particular target because there were 3 reinforced concrete walls (1 foot thick) between me and the target. Had to keep turning it to get a good signal.

Also, the casing is extremely fragile The antennae in the center broke off within a month and one of the 3 wires broke off, which reduced performance. I glued it back together only to have it break again and another wire too.
This pretty much eliminated it as a functioning device.

Other Thoughts: This would work well if you never plan on moving it. It can't stand up to being transported around in you computer backpack.

It's a cute toy, but they need to make it more durable.

Rating + 5 Best Wireless Receiver I've owned

Pros: USB (no installing a card), wireless-n, consistent signal strength and speeds, great looking dish. Noticeably better than the my old linksys wireless-n (which is sitting in my closet)

Cons: price?

I should mention. I have 5 external hard drives also hooked up via USB and if I transfer data across all of them at the same time, the wireless signal dips down to 240Mbps and the web is a tad bit slower but it still chugs along.

Other Thoughts: Using this with my shuttle pc. Signal strength and speed is amazingly consistent. 24/7: Excellent w/ 270Mbps. It never drops. I'm done with linksys.

Pros: This thing is great I am picking up from a wireless G router that is over a 100 ft away through 3 walls. I have a good signal strenght and I'm getting as many Mbs as the wireless router will put out.

Rating + 5 Works Great in Vista

Pros: Easy to setup, I was having the hardest time finding a wireless adapter that worked in Vista. Finally the Hawking came through w/ flying colors.
Easy pictorial directions, install CD, install usb wireless "satellite" viola ....interweb For the Win!!! (I guess the abbreviations were deemed an "inappropriate word" so I had to spell it out)

Cons: price, it's definitely more expensive than the rest, but hey...it WORKS!

Other Thoughts: This replaced my abit airpace, that I couldn't get to work in Vista for the life of me.

Cons: doesn't penetrate through 8 inches of concrete... ha ha. Wanted it in my basement but had to put it up in the floor joists to get signal.

Rating + 5 Best Adapter Ever

Pros: Couldn't get more than 80 Mb/s on my HTPC because of poor connection to D-Link draft n router, tried D-Link extreme performance stuff, marginal improvements. Bought this adapter, 5 minute install, and I'm getting a solid, reliable 270 Mb/s conenction. Far better media streaming and file transer, excellent. I'm getting one for all my systems. Best wireless config app I've used, too, with QoS and excellent features.

Cons: Isn't free

Other Thoughts: Hard to understand why D-Link and Linksys don't offer similar products
