Rating + 5 It's worth it...

Pros: Just bought last one from Newegg,... it's my second unit first worked flawless with Win XP and Vista...second will work with custom build system with Win 7.

Never install any software that comes with it... Win XP & Vista loads the newest Marvel- Libretta drivers for the unit. Managing throught networking tools from OS...

Had no idea that some others manufacture wireless adapters can NO WORK with Vista... that's new for me...!

Cons: Well,...didn't see any..

Other Thoughts: Should buy more for 4 desktops I have... but still using the wire as the fastest and most secure connection for my network...

Rating + 5 works with Linux Ubuntu 9.1

Pros: It works well in a upgraded 1998 Gateway G6-400 PC. Yes a 1998, you read it correctly, a Gateway made in 1998.

Cons: The computer is 11 years old but, it works fine for wasting time on Facebook and other light duty internet surfing.

Other Thoughts: The PC has been upgraded with a Power Leap 1.4ghz upgrade kit, Audigy gamer soundcard, 384 mgs of memory, 128mg ATI graphic card, and 300 watt power supply. Ubuntu 9.1 Karmic Koala ROCKS!!

Rating + 2 range and thur put is horrible

Pros: great price, low profile card

Cons: slower the dial up!!! range is bad does not see the ap most of the time even if its close (+ it should be seeing like 5 ap's but it see only one on and off)
the worst part is its thur put 5 kb /s down and 45 kb/s up
its like watching paint dry!!!!!
i tried looking for for drives from asus and broadcom but nothing works
Disappointed at asus was expecting more. They usually have every dependable parts

Other Thoughts: running it on xp 32 bit, service pack 3, Pentium D,1gb ram...

Rating + 5 so far so good...

Pros: it works, installed in an old powermac g4 with 10.3 and 10.4, wouldn't work in 3, but works fine in 10.4 (after software update)

Cons: none really, simple to install, cheap... yeah, none.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a new build i'm working on, haven't had a chance to install it in that yet, decided to test it on this mac, and it works fine.

Cons: Where do I start.Went to ASUS website looking for help left mail id.Card will not connect and/or will drop the connection for no apparent reason.let xp install driver no luck.Install software from cd rom before installing no luck.Install latest driver from website no luck. They should call it the no luck card.

Pros: Supports 802.1x and other security standards.
It's priced well for what it is, compared to a Linksys card.
Fit's in a low profile slot with the card slot that was provided.

Cons: Software that comes with it just sucks.

Rating + 4 Decent performance for the price

Pros: Got the Asus WL-138g v2 card in about 3 months ago, it was 13.99$ with free shipping, that was much cheaper than any other PCI wifi card to find in the city (at around 30-35$). The signal is excellent from my room on the second floor, the router being in the basement. I always have 54Mbps, at least theoretical :)
The real appreciation came when I changed my computer for a SFF, where only low profile card fit...and boy I was happy that this card come with a low profile bracket.

Cons: The software is old and obsolete. Don't even bother to install it, just use the driver for the card, witch is also quite old (from 2005). I got some critical errors from the Asus software, so I just uninstalled it, and let Windows manage it.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm satisfied with the card, works ok, at least for me. But I can't really say what it's maximal real spead, as my Internet connection is only 6Mbps.

Rating + 3 Hit and a miss

Pros: Bargain bottom price(3 year old piece of equipment).
The one that works (I got 2) works great. My "hotrod" computer sucked it up like a champ and runs it pretty well. Even showing 11 mbp, it gives me excellent strength. 0 packetloss and you would never know you were wireless. Win XP SP 3

Cons: The one that doesn't work. Win XP Media center edition. This is not in a homebuilt pc, rather in an HP Media center. It only had 1 open pci slot, which was between the capture card and the video card (a hot spot). I am hoping the problem is heat, but after uninstalling it, it won't even install in the new slot.

Other Thoughts: I did not uninstall the card that was in the other slot, I'll do that now and edit this later if it fixxes it. Odds are though, that it is not a heat issue and I just got 1 good card and 1 bad card.

Pros: This is a good wireless card with good range. Everything works great.

Rating + 2 Not Worth it

Pros: - Works like every wireless should most of the time (over 90% of the time)
- Cost

Cons: - Internet speed can be really slow even though you have excellent signal (I have to fix it by adjusting the antenna, which usually takes forever)

- THE SOFTWARE:
- is bad, more complicated than Windows zero conf
- hard to connect and always run at a slow speed
- didn't work well for me at all

btw, my router is just on the other side of the wall

Other Thoughts: - That less than 10% of the time that it doesn't work is enough to drive a person nut, especially when you need to get something done.

Once it's working fine, don't touch the antenna or move your pc, or it'll be slow or gone again

Would NOT recommend this.

It's a gamble, might work well, might not.
pay a bit more for one that has better rating.

Rating + 1 Not me, not now

Pros: It didn't poke me in the eye; that's always good imho.

Cons: I spent the money to RMA this card hoping that mine was just malfunctioning; but I was wrong. Only 15 feet away from an N router and this card connects at 54 or 36 mbps, only to drop to 18 or less within 30 seconds.
Using Testmy I was able to gauge my download speed at 4-10 kbps, so basically dialup. When wired or using a USB wifi adapter, the exact same pc is capable of 1.2 megs per second btw.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this because it was supposed to be compatible with osx86, (which it is) but with these speeds it’s next to worthless to me. This card’s performance is just so far from acceptable that I’m without words.

Rating + 4 Good card for the $$ not distance

Pros: Price, PCI interface Good card if it is very close to AP

Cons: Very poor recieve sensitivity

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to use in a lab environment and for that purpose it works great. I used the same antenna (not the one included but one with a true 4 to 5 DBd gain) in a window over several hours I picked up 2 AP's, I switched to a alpha card and another RTL based card and picked up over 10 AP's. Repeated this test with several cards and antenna combo's and this was the most "deaf" out of about a dozen. If you need range buy a alpha card or get a better external antenna

Rating + 5 A great buy

Pros: Plugged right into my Mac G4 Digital Audio, worked immediately.
Works as expected.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This card is recognized as an AirPort Card by Mac OS 10.5. It works like a charm, web access is snappy (considering) and transferring files between Macs is relatively fast as well.

Definitely recommend this card to anyone that has G4 Mac and is looking to upgrade to wireless connectivity. It's more than worth it with the low cost and native application.

Rating + 1 Not the best choice today

Pros: None

Cons: Outdated drivers, probably OK for XP but forget about a Vista installation. Maybe Win 7 will be better.

Other Thoughts: Shipped with drivers dated in 2006, before Vista was even released. Card took about 5 minutes to recognize my network router, and although other computers in my house see about 10 wireless networks in the neighborhood, this one only saw mine plus one other.

After finally connecting I was treated to painfully sub dial up speed downloads (tested at 70 Kbits), other computers getting about 800 Kbits speeds, I went online and found tons of complaints about this card. Asus website was no help, I finally bound a newer driver at Broadcom. It helped the card make a quiker connection to my router, but the slow speeds continued.

After messing with it for a day, I gave up and went to a local brick and morter, picked up a Netgear card, which installed and works like a dream.

Pros: It costs nothing

Cons: I have a mac book and my PC both of which are now on my wireless network. My macbook has great download speeds when using the internet but my PC which is freshly set up with XP and Vista runs at 5kbps per download and while web browsing. This may possibly be a bad unit im not sure but it sure is disappointing. Not a recommended buy

Rating + 5 Good card

Pros: Works with x64 Vista, no problems, 54mbps as described. Wish cable was..
Low profile ready, which is great because since I replaced with with a D-Link Xtreme N adapter I can now put this in my torrent box, which is low-profile only.
Also works with Ubuntu/Mint x64.

Cons: None so far. Have read poor reviews regarding Windows7 x64 drivers, but these should be the same as Vista.

Other Thoughts: Asus is a great brand, they are half the reason I bought this, and I wasn't dissapointed.

Rating + 2 Cheap, has Windows 7 64 bit issues

Pros: Cheap, works with 32 bit systems no problem

Cons: Auto-detected by Windows 7 as Broadcom... massive packet loss, and random dropped connections.
Used ASUS drivers, same thing. Also they have stopped support for this product, people with Vista 64 bit have had the same problems x 1.5 years without it being addressed.

Other Thoughts: Eventually I obtained the latests Broadcom drivers... everything works fine now in Windows & 64 bit, but this exercise turned out to be far more work finding the driver than it should have been. The time I wasted, shoulder have just bought a more expensive card.

Rating + 1 Total Disappointment

Pros: None.

Cons: Never got it to work. I tried both broadcom and asus drivers, and it never once gave me a stable connection. My router is only 15 feet away, yet it still doesn't work. This is the first Asus product that I've been disappointed by. I'll probably look into a different brand now.

Other Thoughts: Things got busy for me last month, so I never got around to calling for an RMA, and now it seems it's too late, as I've owned it for over a month. I have Windows 7 64 bit, but other reviewers claimed it worked with it. That wasn't so in my case.

Pros: Very cheap, works with no issues under 64-bit Windows 7 (presumably also with Vista).

Cons: The antenna it comes with is pretty terrible. I had huge connectivity issues that disappeared after replacing the antenna.

Other Thoughts: This card would get one egg if reviewed with the original antenna (it's THAT bad), but if you put a new antenna on, bump it up to five. With that little fix it's a great little card that does everything you need it to do for hardly any money.

Rating + 2 Cheaply Made

Pros: Works with generic broadcom drivers, recognizes networks, connects, everything else a wireless card is supposed to do.

Cons: The card has a very weak antenna, I couldn't get half the networks I normally get. This was okay, until I started having intermittent connection problems with the router IN THE NEXT ROOM. After a while, it wouldn't connect at all. It seems that the antenna may have been at fault? the chip continued to work, the signal just dropped like a stone.

Other Thoughts: I returned it and got a refurbished Linksys with a similar chipset. Hasn't failed me yet. Disappointed about paying shipping both ways on this one.

Rating + 5 Instant access w/Win7

Pros: Installed in a Windows 7 RC machine, and upon startup the drivers went in w/o having to use the CD at all. Connected w/o issue to my wireless network as well.

Cons: My connection speed was a bit slower over wireless when using this card with my Linksys WCG200 router, but I can't guarantee it was the card. I'm actually more inclined to think its the router's fault as this is a known bad model. Still, looking at these numbers below its perfectly fine for any purpose.
Connection speed via LAN = 12Mbps
Connection speed via WL-138G = 5.5Mbps

Other Thoughts: I gave it 5 despite the speed difference because I believe its the router not the card causing the slower speed. Major kudos to Asus and Win7 for instant support w/o using the CD

Rating + 1 Don't buy it if you have Nvidia gfx

Pros: It's cheap and it has descent signal strength and speed.

Cons: What really sucks about this card is that it's almost impossible to make it work with some Nvidia gfx cards. Everything works fine until you install the Nvidia drivers.
I've been trying for like a month to figure out what turned the wifi card from descent to completely useless.
Well, it's the Nvidia drivers. (Same applies to Win and Linux)

Other Thoughts: If you want it for an office PC or something like that with an integrated gfx card, it'll probably work just fine for you for a great price.

Rating + 1 Does not connect to my network

Pros: Price? Still not worth it if it doesn't function.

Cons: Installed it running Windows XP SP3. Let the "find new hardware" wizard find the XP driver. It can see networks fine, but it will not receive an IP address when connecting to them. I did manage to connect once, but the latency was terrible (lots of dropped packets).

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY THIS. I even read the reviews before buying this thing, hoping I would be among the positives. Let's see... electronics components should work over 95% of the time. This one works like 75% of the time, the rest are defective. Spend the money and get something else and save yourself the hassle.

Pros: Cheap
Able to connect to local network eventually.

Cons: Do not use the standard ASUS wireless utility especially when trying to connect to a network using WPA2. Just stick with the standard Windows Zero configuration, much easier to navigate and connect with.

Range isn't that great on the card but that isn't necessarily the card itself but more of the antenna that it is packaged with.

Other Thoughts: Able to finally pick up signals and connect after a little of fiddling with the stock antenna on card and now able to get good, stable connect.

Good if using it just for a home tower and not wanting to deal with using USB wireless cards.

Rating + 5 Works great.

Pros: Signal never falls off or disconnects. I kept my computer on for two straight days to test this and there were no problems. Low-pro bracket is nice to have, didn't need it but I could imagine many do. Certified for Vista x64 unlike Linksys's PCI 54g adapter. No issues with WEP. Fair price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I haven't really tested the range and consistency with this as my desktop will never sit more than 20 direct feet away from the router, but at that range it is at max signal strength. Didn't bother with the drivers on the CD, went straight to ASUS for them.
Thanks Newegg again.

Rating + 5 This Wireless Card

Pros: Card works in every os pretty much.... i popped it in vista 64 bit and when it even had no internet to it it automatically found and downloaded the drivers for it. The range of the card is so great. And the card is dirt cheap.

Cons: The antenna it comes with is so small.... i put a different antenna on it and am getting 5 bars of wireless from 3 stories away.

Other Thoughts: Best buy for your buck...no doubt. Works with vista 64 bit! dont listen to the people who dont even know how to install a card lol...

Rating + 1 No 64 bit support

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Included driver CD contains absolutely no 64 bit support. Once 64 bit drivers were obtained from the Asus website, I could hardly hold a connection at less than dialup speed.

Other Thoughts: Don't be fooled by the price. If you're using a 64 bit system, spend a couple extra dollars more to get something that works.

Pros: It works, and it works with Vista 64 bit. I didn't even try and install the included software, just popped in the disk and let Windows do it's thing. Seems to get a strong signal and it's built pretty well.

Cons: None that I can see so far.

Other Thoughts: Just got a wireless card for the rare occasion that I move my computer, this seems like it'll do the job and the price was defiantly right.

Rating + 1 Utter garbage; antenna miniscule

Pros: None. But thank you to NEWEGG for a liberal return policy on this item.

Cons: 1) Simply does not connect to router 10 ft away on both Vista Ultimate and XP Pro 32-bit. I was able to get a connection one time, and it transferred at 1/5 of my XP laptop and Macbook Pro.

2) The firmware was last updated in 2004. The ASUS connection interface is garbage - difficult to navigate and unintuitive.

3) The antenna is literally 1/3 the length and 1/2 the girth of my replacement Linksys wireless adapter.

Other Thoughts: This was my first build, and the issues with the wireless adapter was infuriating and cost me 8+ hours of troubleshooting, posting on forums, clean-installing, disassembling, re-buying, etc.

What an utter waste of money, time, and sanity. I will never recommend this product to anyone.

Rating + 1 Worst Buy from New Egg Ever

Pros: Order was very quick and complete and was in good condition. It was easy to install in the computer.

Cons: In a week of attempts I have not been able to get this card to work on any of several distros. of Linux in spite of the fact that both New Egg and Asus sites say it supports Linux.
I bought this card specifically for use with Linux so it is pretty much useless to me. Linux recognizes the physical hardware, but I have not been able to find a working driver.

Other Thoughts: I bought this on a 24 hour sale email from New Egg and I waited almost to the 23rd hour so I did not do my research ahead of time. Having since done so I have discovered that the Broadcom chip used on this card is very difficult to get working under Linux. There were no Linux drivers included on the CD with the card and I have not been able to get the native Linux b43 driver which is supposed to support this card to load in Mepis 8.0. I did try Puppy Linux as a live CD and it did detect my SSID, but would not communicate even after I disabled all authentication and encryption for the test. In short I do not recommend this card for Linux use.

Pros: None. Although the RMA Return process went fairly quickly, thanks to NewEgg. :)

Cons: Didn't work at all. The driver was unnecessarily complicated. Even if my computer was right next to the router, I got no signal. When I did get the signal, it came in short bursts, like 5 seconds. Eventually, I just decided to stick with an ethernet cable. Kind of a hassle, but at least it's dependable.

Other Thoughts: Did not install any drivers, did not read the maunal, did not do anything but pop it into the PCIe slot, screw on the screw to hold it into place, fired up Vista Home Premium 64 bit with Service Pack 2 and I was good to go out the gate. Rating + 1 product seems defective

Pros: easy pci plugin

Cons: takes a while to recognize connection.
claims speed is 40-54mbps but can't even load web pages. Seems to be able to load google just fine (due to nothing being on it) but it cannot handle anything else. Videos can't load, pictures take 5 minutes, etc.
i tried different drivers, tried asus's support site, it seems as if asus is denying that this is a defective product.

Other Thoughts: newegg's support was amazing as everyone should already know, understood the problem right away and gave the refund, didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes from picking up the phone.

avoid this adapter at all cost, i read a few forum posts about it and saw the majority of people had the same problem as me.

Pros: Works fine, even as plug and play. I connected to the internet while I was installing Windows 7 on a new system. Couldn't be happier.

Cons: Maybe rebranded? I have no evidence to back this, and its still dirt cheap, so who cares?

Other Thoughts: I get the full 54 mbps just about wherever I go as long as I stay within the recommended range. Connected to my DSL router fine and never looked back.

Pros: I just submitted a review for this nic but got the manufacturer wrong. I wrote Rosewill but meant Asus.

hopefully newegg will notice and nuke the older one.

I love this nic, it works great for me, no hassles (but I did not install their software, only the driver)

Cons: none for how I'm using it (in the same room as the router)

Other Thoughts: Rosewill does make excellent products but of course, Asus does too. Asus is another one of those companies that 0sells high quality at low prices.

Rating + 2 Too much hassle

Pros: - Inexpensive
- Connects (sometimes)
- Newegg's excellent service

Cons: I purchased this wireless card to run in my computer in my bedroom, which is about 40 feet away from my Linksys router. I first installed the utility and drivers to the card, then I inserted the card into my PCI slot. Rebooted my compy, Windows XP saw the card right away. Tried to connect to the wireless network with the ASUS utility, without success. Utility said that the encryption settings didn't match and gave me the option to change them. So I did that, and tried connecting again, and received the same problem. I went through and made sure everything was right, and then attempted to connect again. Didn't work. I uninstalled the utility and told it to use Windows to connect. Had some problems with Windows as well, but finally managed to connect...at 11mbps. I then realized the card was set on 802.11b, not g. So I switched that around and changed all of those settings. Card did not pick up any network (unless I switched back to b). Finally got it to connect on g, but

Other Thoughts: only at 11mbps, no higher, and my other computer (which is the same distance from the router) gets 54mbps no problem. I've been trying to figure out that problem ever since. ASUS Forums didn't have anything, none of the reviews here on Newegg had any help, and searching the web up and down did nothing. I've got the most current drivers for everything, so I have no idea what the problem is. This card was definitely a pain to mess around with. I should have taken more consideration into a card and should have chucked in a few more $ for something nicer/more reliable. I've seen good reviews on here, and also bad, so the quality of this product is basically hit or miss.

Rating + 3 No luck with Vista 64 bit

Pros: I noticed that Dell uses the OEM version of this card in a couple of desktop computers that I ordered from them. They were running 32-bit versions of Vista. I was able to get this card to work in a system running Windows 2000 without any trouble.

Cons: I could not get this card to work in the system that it was intended for, which was running a 64-bit version of Vista. I downloaded the latest drivers for this card from the Asus website. I ended up replacing this card with a Rosewill wireless "N" card, which works fine in the computer.

Other Thoughts: Although Dell uses this card with systems running Vista 32-bit, they don't have any 64-bit drivers available, suggesting that they had to go to another card for that operating system, too.

Pros: Supports WPA2, decent range

Cons: slow transfer rates

Other Thoughts: I bought this to put in my htpc in the living room running Xubuntu Linux. After some playing around I got Ubuntu to recognize it and install the drivers to get it working. I mainly have this so I can transfer multimedia from my desktop to my htpc wirelessly via ftp. This is where I'm disappointed. Typically my laptop with an ASUS wireless G card gets transfer rates around 2.5MB/s when retrieving files. This card varies quite a bit, but after trying the antenna in different positions I can get it to transfer at a steady 1MB/s, and the machine is only one room away.

Pros: The only pro I can see is that I paid less that 20 bucks for this worthless piece of hardware. I purchased this card because it had XP 64 drivers; but they don't install at all.

Cons: Using 64-bit Vista Ultimate and XP pro; I cannot get this thing to connect. I have downloaded drivers from the website; to no avail. Tried re-installing OS and using drivers from the disc, still no luck. Windows Zero shows Excellent signal strength, but absolutely will not connect. I have a USB adapter that shows weaker signal strength, but NO connection issues whatsoever. I have tried everything I can think of, but this card refuses to connect.

Other Thoughts: Absolutely worthless piece of hardware...does nothing but take up a PCI slot that could be utilized for something else. NOT impressed at ALL Asus!

Rating + 1 After Further Consideration

Pros: None.

Cons: As a followup to my initial review, it is apparent that the range on this card is severely crippled. During setup, this card was in a PC about 6 feet from my WRT54GL (With DD-WRT firmware) and it worked well. As soon as I moved it 20 feet away in the same room WITH line-of-sight to the router, throughput dropped to dial-up levels. It's NOT an issue of interference, as 2 laptops, a Nintendo Wii and an iPod Touch all work perfectly in the exact same location. In short, this card has no range.

Other Thoughts: I tried both Asus' software manager as well as Windows' native support (under XP pro) and the preformance was identical. The connection is reported as excellent, but it's completely useless. Trying to load Google.com failed more than half the time. The times it doesn't fail, it never loads completely. Avoid this card at all costs.

Pros: Easy configuration and driver install. Cheap.

Cons: I have an Apple Airport Express, which I have used for many computers, both XP and Mac OS X, over the course of four years. The network I use is WPA2, with an access control list, and a closed (SSID doesn't broadcast) network.
Now, I can only get this new XP machine to connect if I open the network, and downgrade my security to WEP. And when it does finally connect, the connection is very slow in both my browser and WoW, despite XP reporting Signal Stength: Excellent and 54.0 Mbps speed.
I have updated the drivers that came with the card using the ASUS website, but the problems have not gone away. In fact, the drivers that were on the CD were version 3.100.64, while the ones on the website were 2.8.3. So either the versions are identified incorrectly, or the CD somehow has more current drivers.
I was getting terrible (<75%) packet loss after installing the card, though that has improved a bit. My router and computer are in the same room, no more than 10 ft. apart.

Other Thoughts: Asus control software is terrible. It looks like something written in 1991 with a terrible interface.

Pros: Works in Vista and Leopard.

Cons: Couldn't get it to work in Ubuntu. I'm sure I could if I had access to an ethernet connection, but switching between Leopard or Vista and back to Ubuntu became too much of a pain so I gave up. The drivers I downloaded for it for linux didn't help. Also the antenna and connection is rather finicky. Every once in a while I have to reposition the antenna. I also can't screw the antenna in all the way or I lose speed. Getting it just right can take a while, but when I do I am able to get my maximum internet connection speed. My router in one floor up and three meters over.

Other Thoughts: I've gotten sick of fooling with the antenna so today I ordered a new wireless card with 3 antennas. Odds are one of the three will work fine :-P

Rating + 4 Respectable if not Revolutionary

Pros: Low price, compact size, reliable drivers (under WinXP), good range.

Cons: Utility software is intrusive and inefficient. Throughput seems to fluctuate more frequently than I would like, even though the router I'm connecting to is 6 feet away in line-of-site. (WRT-54GL with DD-WRT firmware)

Other Thoughts: I initially installed this card in my XP Pro machine and manually installed the latest drivers from Asus. Setup and configuration was standard and easy. Connected to my WLAN with no problem. I did, however, notice that my reported speed would fluctuate quite a bit- I'd log-in at 54Mbps, then it would drop to 48, then 36, then 24 and then rise back up to 54. It would also consistently move between any and all those speeds with no discernible pattern. I then downloaded and installed the most current Asus utility, thinking perhaps Windows wasn't managing the device properly. After installing the Asus utility, I didn't notice any change in the fluctuating behavior, but I did notice the additional resources the utility was consuming. Nothing huge, but enough that I noticed. Uninstalled the utility and let Windows manage it. Seems quite reliable as I've had no dropped connections- I just wish the connection speed remained more consistent. Need to do further testing to determine root cause.

Rating + 1 Does NOT work with xp x64 Edition

Pros: It was supposed to work with xp x64.

Cons: This card does NOT work with xp x64. The drivers caused my system to freeze shortly after booting.
The bundled software is permanently on my system and i cant delete it.

Other Thoughts: If you want a good card that works with xp x64, go with the Zonet ZEW1603 IEEE 802.11b/g PCI 802.11g. It has bad reviews by 2 people but will recieve a good one by me.

My System: Amd athlon x2 6000+ cpu, 4gb of ram, 160gb samsung harddrive, Asus DVD burner with lightscribe, Asus EAH3870 video card, Zonet ZEW1603 IEEE 802.11b/g PCI 802.11g wireless card, customized gateway 2000 server case.

Pros: - Works well on Vista 32 bit
- No drivers needed
- Low profile adapter included

Cons: - Fails on Vista 64 bit
- I initially bought this for a new Vista Business x64 system. The card refused to work properly regardless of the drivers used. I first tried the windows drivers, then tried the drivers on the disk, and then downloaded drivers online. None of the drivers worked well. The card would connect and then maybe work for a couple minutes and then start to spike. Eventually the connection would fail completely. This was on a network with WPA2 encryption... it might work for other types of encryption.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this card for 32 bit systems. The drivers for 64 bit obviously need some work.

Rating + 2 Ya win some, ya lose some!

Pros: Works great in x86 XP install. Fast connection, great response, you almost forget you're on wireless.

Cons: Deceiving x64 vista support! Contrary to other reviewers this card failed me on vista x64. The drivers install fine, but the card can't negotiate a connection. When it does connect the down-link is slower than 28.8kbps, no lie. After some research I found out it's based on a Broadcom chipset (i've got beef with those driver engineers already). Using a non-broadcom card solved the issue.

Other Thoughts: If you plan on using Vista, get the Rosewill RNX-N300.

Rating + 5 Easy Setup

Pros: Came up in Windows XP 32bit, and it loaded the drivers from the CD just fine. I had beter range than I expected, put this in a Pentium 4 2.4G as a third computer.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: ASUS is pretty solid company, I buy ASUS all the time. If I do have an issue Newegg always come through.

Rating + 5 No drivers!

Pros: Worked great once I uninstalled the drivers from the driver disk. Pretty fast and no hang ups.

Cons: I installed the driver on the disk at first. For Vista 64bit it messed me up. Just let Vista64 find it itself and it will start up like a champ.

Other Thoughts: Spent several hours trying to find out why it wasn't working. I should have just payed attention to the other reviewers. Don't install drivers!

I'll keep it at 5 eggs and give myself 4 for not paying attention.

Rating + 5 one that works vista x64

Pros: Plug this in and you will be set you vista x64 users. this is the one. My system automatically detected it upon startup and i was connectable in seconds. this works and will not freeze the system no matter what! No wasted time installing drivers, the system operates seamlessly with this!!!

Cons: None, but i do recommend a wired antenna attachment instead of the plain antenna, better signal. Unless the distance from the router isn't an issue...

Other Thoughts: I can't complain, the other adapter I had was not cutting it. It may have worked well with another OS but Vista x64 did not like it. This one is the one for vista x64, finally :)

Rating + 5 Lisa Needs Braces

Pros: Plugged it in and Vista 64 bit installed the drivers automatically. Cheap and working hardware makes me
: )

Cons: UPS delivered it to the wrong house and I had to play detective to track it down. Boo UPS

Other Thoughts: I had a Rosewill wireless card that said it worked with Vista 64 bit and had serious issues after I installed it. The drivers were apparently the cause of the problem and not even updating them online fixed anything. PROTIP: If your looking for a wireless card that works flawlessly with Vista 64bit, look no further!

Rating + 5 Solid, Standard, Inexpensive

Pros: Vista 64 recognized with no supplemental driver install. Working flawlessly.
Price.
Good performance.

Cons: Antenna connection quality hard to determine.

Other Thoughts: Worked like a charm at first, but I had serious trouble once I put the side panels on the case and moved the new build downstairs. After some odd troubleshooting where I wondered about interference or attenuation from the case (Vista reported excellent signal strength but no connectivity with the router), I realized that twisting the polarity of the antenna had caused some problem (the antenna screws on but there is also a swivel to allow you to adjust polarization). I reconnected it and antenna is currently happy.
Comes with a low profile bracket (which I didn't try using, but could be nice for a slimline installation).

Rating + 5 Affordable WPA2 encrypted adapter for a desktop PCI slot

Pros: -WPA2!!!
-Easy to install/setup
-Superb connection in WinXP, with 802.11g
-LOW price

Cons: -won't be up to wireless N speeds ...whenever that becomes the standard...

Other Thoughts: The bundled connection management software might not be so great, but you can always just use the function integrated into Windows to manage your wireless connection.

I love the super-small PCI card!
