Rating + 5 Greate Value

Pros: Extremely Mobile. You get 6+ hours of battery life. Decently fast, great for doing homework/writing papers while out and about. Plays star-craft wonderfully! I have windows 7 running on it now and windows 7 runs extremely well too. Touch-pad is great too, the motion detect feature is a bit iffy, but nice once you get used to it.

Cons: I'm a neat freak, and you can see every spec of dirt on the bezel, I definitely recommend getting a cover with this.

Other Thoughts: Great value!

Rating + 5 Great Computer

Pros: Great computer! Perfect size and very practical. I added 1 more Gig of RAM so it's really fast!. The battery life is better than the specs stated so I am very pleased with the computer. I am buying another one for my wife.

Cons: Lots of junk software, but Once you get rid of them, is another day in paradise.

Rating + 5 Awesome Netbook

Pros: Great netbook, bought two, very solid feel to it. Popped in a 2GB chip and was off to the races. Surprising how fast it was and solid the casing was. Didnt notice any keyboard flex. Battery says 7:33 at 99%!

Cons: Touch pad buttons are a bit stiff, but I will never use it anyway since i bought the Rosewill wireless nano mouse (awesome btw).

Other Thoughts: Fast shipping, excellent packaging, NewEgg For The Win!

Rating + 5 Tons of Power at a Great Price !!

Pros: Lightweight, powerful, excellent battery life, easily upgradeable, nice design, great conductivity and very fast !!

Cons: Touchpad is very small and sometimes hard to manuver around with.

Other Thoughts: If you are comparing size, power and durability against price - You can't beat this unit !! I have an Acer desktop at my home and Acer's support has always been very good , thats if I needed it.

Rating + 5 LOVE IT

Pros: Perfect size and runs like a champ. I use it to play ripped/downloaded movies and surf the net when traveling. Lightweight, long battery life (after modifications...see other thoughts), keyboard is acceptable (it's a netbook!), and 6 cell battery included

Cons: Touchpad buttons are annoying...single bar that you have to hit one side or the other. Came with a TON of bloatware...bought mine at Costco and our friend who works in returns said they were getting these back in droves because of low battery life. After working with it, I realized that the bloatware is what drains the battery. Also, only comes with XP Home.

Other Thoughts: The first thing I did when I got it is wiped the hard drive and put XP Pro on. Turned off all fancy stuff, set for maximum battery and was able to watch over 4 hours of video and still had like 25% battery left. I later wiped it and put Ubuntu Netbook Remix on it and it lasts even longer now. Everything works fine in Linux from what I can tell (except maybe the wireless button on the front...but don't care about that). This thing is a traveling champ...super light, long battery (after wiping the drive) and does everything I could want.

Rating + 4 Pretty Good Netbook

Pros: -Fast for what it contains, and the price, and considering it's a netbook.

-Nicely put together -- sleek look and small enough to hold in my hands or in the datacenter where I go to work sometimes.

-Windows XP Home is nice on this thing. :-).

Cons: -Mouse is slow and hard to move. I don't know if I want to keep using the mouse, may connect an internal mouse to it.

Other Thoughts: Good value, good buy for the average user.

Rating + 5 Love It

Pros: Extremely portable. Keyboard is decently spaced. Sound is great. Video is fantastic for what it is. A
ctually quite fast once the bloatware is removed.

Cons: The bloatware is annoying but it can be removed. Battery life could be better.

Other Thoughts: I love how I can just toss it in my carryall and go. Usually don't have to recharge while out and about.

Rating + 4 Nice little system

Pros: great battery life

Cons: trackpad buttons
very reflective screen

Other Thoughts: This system is great for internet use and some light work (email, document review, etc.) I love the size and easy of carrying it around. The keyboard is a bit small, but you get used to it fairly easily. The trackpad is merely OK. The display is sharp but very reflective which can be a problem in bright areas. Performance is reasonable considering the price and weight. The battery life is outstanding - I treat it like a mobile phone and charge it up overnight for use the next day. I don't use it all day long, usually a few hours here and there, but I've never seen the battery dip below 50%. Overall, a nice netbook.

Rating + 5 Great Netbook

Pros: This is one nice netbook the keyboard is nice as i am using it to write this review. screen is really nice even the speakers are decent. great battery life went for about 6 hours 7 min while listing to music and surfing the web. i would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice netbook.

Cons: the only thing i don't like is the track pad button its a little hard to push as others have mentioned but i just double tap so it don't bug me to much that's about the only thing i can think of at the moment.

Other Thoughts: other things worth mentioning is the glossy screen reflects a lot so its not good in direct sunlight not a prob for me my be for some. it does not like to play video over 720p starts skipping sound and cant stream high def videos such as on youtube that happens because flash based videos are CPU based and this little atom just cant handle it even my 1.86 m processor on my old laptop cant do it. tho it does play normal flash videos perfectly fine. i personally would get a 2 gig stick of ram but that's just me i like my netbook to be a little bit faster but most people will be just fine with 1gig. last thing this is not a gaming machine don't expect to do much gaming on this it can handle some games like starcraft diablo 2 and what not but don't expect to play any hardcore games on this. well that's about all i can think to say if your thinking bout getting a netbook pick this up you wont be disappointed.

Rating + 4 Amazing machine, some problems with atheros wifi card.

Pros: overall amazing machine.

intel atom processor is faster that you would think at 1.6 GHz

small and lightweight, but the 10 inch screen really does make it better than the 8.9 inch netbooks i've used, even though the resolution is the same on most, the extra 1.2 inches makes a huge difference.

battery life is as advertised.

easy to replace hard drive, ram, and wireless card.

Cons: i had problems with the wireless card at first, once i got it working consistently it still doesnt give a whole lot of MB/s but does work ok, i ordered an intel N card to replace it.

Other Thoughts: even though i had problems with the wireless this is still an amazing machine and worth it, i use linux and ubuntu 9.04 works great on this netbook.

Rating + 5 Best Netbook On The Market (IMO)

Pros: I checked out most of the competing 10" Netbook brands and decided to get the Acer Aspire One D150 (Black). I'm positive I made the right decision.

One of the best, brightest screens I've ever seen on any laptop. Build quality is great. If it didn't have the manufacturer's name own it, you would swear it's a high dollar little laptop.

Liked the keyboard better than other brands. Fn and Ctrl keys are backwards on some brands. Fn and Ctrl keys in normal location on the AA1.

Other brands had an off brand touchpad that didn't have the settings I like. AA1 has a real Synoptics brand touch pad.

Easy access panels for Memory and Hard Drive replacement. Wireless connects instantly at boot up.

I really love this little PC. I like it better than my 17" Alienware Laptop that cost 6 times as much.

Cons: Only real complaint is, the touchpad could be wider.

Loaded with Acer preinstalled junk and trail software. After removing the junk it's surprisingly fast.

Would be nice if they ever figured out how to stuff a slot loading CD/DVD drive in these little suckers.

Other Thoughts: Add the maximum 2GB of memory before the first boot. Remember it only has one slot, so you have to replace the original 1GB stick.

Works great with a USB Boot Stick with partitioning & imaging software on it. Planning on upgrading to a bigger hard drive soon.

Rating + 5 Best Buy in Years

Pros: Excellent durability, great keyboard, beautiful screen, phenomenal battery life, lightweight, plenty of HD space, decent sound.

Cons: Doesn't come with a backup disk (a little ridiculous on Acer's part, not all of us own an external DVD drive, would it have really been that much trouble to just give us one?), glossy finish is a fingerprint magnet

Other Thoughts: The best laptop I've ever owned, and in my opinion the first truly "portable" computer. If you want to go mobile and still keep all of your PC needs, then this model is the way to go.

Rating + 4 good stuff for its size

Pros: Does not cost much. Very easy to transport and fit into small places. Light. Battery lasts about 7 hours.

Cons: No cd drive but for how small it is I was willing to give that up an dbuy an external.

Other Thoughts: I wish the video card was better. It is a standard 945 that was made too many years ago. I can't play any game really it is so bad. But I did not buy this for gaming os I won't take much off for that.

Rating + 5 Great for Traveling

Pros: Size, weight, battery life.

Cons: A lot of bloatware - which is tasking on a slower machine to start with. Once removed (with Winpatrol) and the registry was cleaned, it scooted right along.

Other Thoughts: Have to remember that this isn't supposed to replace a full sized notebook. If you need to check email, surf the web or perform some word processing, it is great. I slapped in a stick of 2GB ram before I booted and it worked great. Battery life is as advertised. Atom processor is faster than I thought.

Rating + 3 Great little product, with two flaws...

Pros: Fairly small, great screen and keyboard, easy to upgrade via new accessible compartments to the RAM, HDD, and mpci-e slot (occupied). For me, the resolution was perfect, comfortable and easy to read while sufficiently wide to see what I needed. Obviously a bigger screen is better, but that isn't the point with a netbook - we want portability instead.

Cons: My only complaints are: 1) the fan is cheap, noisy, and NOISY! It may be a deal breaker for me - I'll make the final decision this week... 2) the touch pad is very small and inconsistent to use. Given the space limitations, it is hard to fault the size, but I think a touchstick device would have been a much wiser course for a netbook.

Other Thoughts: Had the fan been quality, worked well and silently, this would be a five egg rating. The touchpad is usable and can easily be augmented by a mouse, but the fan is a problem, both in terms of noise and longevity.

Rating + 5 Excellent little machine

Pros: Very clear screen is easily readable even on the lowest brightness setting. It's very quick to boot, and removing the bloatware everyone talks about is very easy (msconfig, startup, remove all, then a visit to add/remove programs for spring cleaning). The gig of ram helps it keep up with pretty much whatever I want to do on it.

Cons: Like all netbooks, it's a little small. Though I should probably blame it on my big, caveman fingers. The video hardware leaves something to be desired, as it's not designed for any (I mean any) gaming.

Other Thoughts: The reason cons don't make it lose an egg because I'm judging it as a netbook and these are problems all netbooks seem to share. As a laptop, it's pretty basic. If you want something to push any kind of games (except maybe bejeweled), netbooks are not the way to go.

Rating + 5 Great Netbook

Pros: Perfect size and super battery life. Bought this for my wife to surf the Internet and play games on. She dumps it in her tote bag and off she goes. Wonderful little netbook.

Cons: All the bloatware that Acer puts on it - but that may be what helps them keep their pricing so reasonable.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for notebooks and come to the Acers be sure to double check the model. If I remember correctly all of the colored case models had the small battery - roughly half the usage time of this one. That little fact was kind of buried in the rest of the specs.

Rating + 4 Very nice netbook but....

Pros: Bright screen is large enough for my use, keyboard is just big enough for me, the touchpad is good (buttons take a little to get used to), battery life is more than adequate for my use. Not overstuffed with bloatware but I had an issue with some of it. Overall a great purchase and I'd give it a 5-egg rating if my out of box experience was better, see cons.

Cons: Bloatware compatibility problem! I had a major problem with IE. It would start with an error and get into an loop that took a reboot to overcome. It seemed to be a compatibility or interaction between the McAfee trial s/w and IE7. I was able to fix the problem by disabling the McAfee add-on, removing the trial s/w and installing a permanent version, and upgrading to IE8, but many users may not have been so patient.

Other Thoughts: This is my 4th Acer system and outside of the issue mentioned above I really like my netbook and Neweggs service was as always top notch.

Rating + 4 Solid Netbook, With Caveats

Pros: Bright screen, well-laid-out keyboard, can be upgraded to 2 GB, 2 usable internal MiniPCI-E slots, traces for SIM slot, accessible USB webcam lead, 2.5" SATA HD inside, Bluetooth connector still in place, solid build, Synaptics touchpad with gestures, webcam has good colors.

Cons: Still no hi-res screen, keyboard does not fill width and is same size as 9" model, stuck screw on first unit (sent back), little space for additional antennae, no SIM slot pre-installed, no touchscreen available yet, HD is slow, no built-in Bluetooth on US model, battery sticks out, touchpad surface is strange and too small, webcam is low-res.

Other Thoughts: Note that each of the above sections relates a pro to a con in each section's respective order. I like the unit, it's the best for my needs at the moment, but it definitely has flaws. The Atheros ethernet chipset will be tough to get working in MacOS, and video memory is restricted to 8 MB of a possible 224. The BIOS is InsydeH20, so I don't think this is likely to change soon. Some of the above references note that I aim to install 3G aftermarket. This requires soldering in a SIM card slot, filing away some plastic for the SIM card and the wireless switch, adding two antennae, and possibly other steps as well. I may also add a TV tuner, possibly as a MiniPCI-E card on a USB bus, but I still haven't figured out a way to get good reception without using a coaxial cable. One should be able to add native bluetooth using the ~8 pin connector onboard. Looks standard.

Rating + 5 Perfect Netbook

Pros: Almost everything is a pro for this little guy. Very bright screen, amazing battery life(7-8 hours with iTunes running), easy setup.

Cons: Nothing I would consider a con or defect.

Other Thoughts: It does come with preinstalled software that is too much for netbook, but go through and uninstall it and everything runs fast and perfect. Though it works fine with 1GB ram, an upgrade to a single 2GB chip makes any minimal lag obsolete. The keyboard is as big and well laid out as possible for the form factor and I have had no problems with the touchpad.
PS: This puppy has the ability to run Mac OSX(Leopard) and Linux.

Rating + 3 Bad Keyboard had to send back

Pros: Small Form Factor
Decent Specs
Price

Cons: Battery Sticks out quite a bit when closed
Makes weight very close to 3lbs (almost getting heavy).
Keyboard is pretty small and takes some getting used to.
Touchpad is hard to use

Other Thoughts: The ENTER key required very hard pressing to make it work. Compared to other keys it basically was not functioning. NEWEGG requested I call ACER, they did some minor trouble shooting and had me DEPOT it back to them for repair. I had the netbook 2 days, now it will be gone for 2 weeks. Im a little upset that Newegg wouldnt just RMA replace it for me.

Rating + 5 Acer Aspire One 10in Black

Pros: Great deal! For a Netbook, the video plays amazingly smooth and the 10in screen is bright and sharp. The audio is excellent.

Cons: None, I can think of, for a Netbook. Unless you are picky because it gets smudge marks rather easily.

Other Thoughts: The creation of the XP recovery disks is very simple. There is no need to get extra memory for my use, 1GB is fine. I only installed Office 2003 and Itunes. I got this to have a portable cheap internet appliance. Well made. I did get the top of the line Asus netbook last month and the audio wasn't very good. I tried Acer from my brother's recommendation. It has a 6 cell battery for about 6 hr of use. It's a great deal for $350, free shipping.

Rating + 4 Acer Aspire One

Pros: Slightly rough surface of the keyboard keys keeps fingers from sliding off easily. A great feeling, and easy to use keyboard. Felt comfortable with it immediately.

Also received the 5200mah battery with it, from Newegg. Zowie!

This thing is so light and portable, don't know why I didn't purchase one before. It works great as a GPS monitor with a USB mini bluetooth dongle (more on this later).

Certainly worth the money, especially with the 5200 mah battery. A no brainer, if you want a new netbook.

Cons: I gave this a 4-star rating instead of a 5 because of just one niggle; it doesn't come with built-in bluetooth. An external dongle will have to tie-up one USB port, but with the new mini USB dongle, it may be left on the machine at all times, if wanted. The long-run battery is up to the task.

A minor niggle, yes, but this machine would be best in class with built-in bluetooth.

The touchpad buttons are very hard to depress, hopefully, they will get easier with age, or I will get used to them, as I've given my full-sized Toshiba laptop to my fiance to use, and the acer one is almost as peppy as it is.

Other Thoughts: I put 2GB of memory in it, because I had it lying around doing nothing. The 1GB supplied is certainly good enough for anything this little sweetie was designed for.

The display is very bright on its highest setting, and the display backlight may be turned-off with the function F5 combo. Very important to the life of the backlight, especially when downloading huge files. A simple touch of a key will instantly turn-on the backlight again.

I would buy this unit again, and recommend it highly for its price point, and value.

Rating + 5 Great little netbook!

Pros: Cheap, works out of the box flawlessly. Larger screen and longer battery life make it a no-brainer over the smaller model. Built in wireless gets 3 bars in the farthest room from my router (upstairs and other end of the house).

Cons: No 3G included

Other Thoughts: Upgraded to 2Gig Crucial ram, removed most of the bloatware, used Windows update and downloaded trackpad drivers, and it runs great! Boots in about 40 secs.

Rating + 5 Life never felt so portable!

Pros: The glossy screen is a pro for me, though it may be a con for some people if they're out in the sun in the bahamas. The design is great, and i love that it has 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' keys on the keyboard. The HDD and RAM slots are easy to upgrade, there are panels on the bottom for both. I upgraded to 2GB immediately with Item# N82E16820134317 and this baby runs smooth like butter. Surprisingly, there isn't too much bloatware to uninstall.

Cons: The battery sticks out a bit, though i only notice this while it's closed. The touchpad could have been a bit wider, and the mouse buttons are on one solid 'rocker' bar, but a good wireless mini optical mouse solves that.

Other Thoughts: I got a 5200mah battery with this, i guess i was one of the lucky ones. Go me! I remember a few years ago i was playing my Nintendo DS while in line at the post office, and a woman asked me where i got "that tiny laptop" from. I never imagined i would have a laptop this portable a few years later.
