Rating + 3 NOT for gaming laptops

Pros: This does work well to suck air from the bottom and blow it out away from your machine. O and to light up a dark room w/o the need for you to flip the switch on the wall.

Cons: Fans get louder over time and this does not move enough air to keep my HP dv9700z cool enough while playing moderately system demanding games from turning itself off to prevent from frying itself.

Other Thoughts: worked ok for a while but either the fans arent pushing as much air as they used to or I am just making the comp work so hard that its turns itself off to prevent suicide.

Rating + 1 worst product I have ever purchased

Pros: sleek design, rubber skid pads underneath.

Cons: DESIGN. Poorly constructed power cord leads to connection problems and failure. Ridiculously bright blue LED that could probably land an airplane.

Other Thoughts: Within a week of owning this I noticed the connection was going bad. With further inspection it is not the USB end that plugs into your laptop rather, the power connection into the cooler itself. The cable is OK but there is an extremely flimsy/brittle 20 gauge or so wire that protrudes for the power connection and leads to a horrible connection. I tried everything (even after the first exchange) including: folding the cord so it would sit right, tucking it under the laptop until it would come on, etc. Ultimately it is going to fail. I cannot hold this cord at any angle now to get a good connection to get the power to stay on. Now the pad just lays dormant and provides a solid surface for better air circulation when its in my lap. Nothing more. Worthless... I will never buy a product from these people again.

Rating + 5 Great cheap cooler

Pros: This cooler is cheap and gets the job done. I bought this same cooler almost 4 years ago. I had an older Compaq laptop that I used for nothing except loading low level characters for an MMO I used to play to sit in leveling parties. Needless to say, this laptop had integrated graphics and would overheat after barely 20 minutes, even with settings turned down. When the internal fan on the laptop would spin up, it'd sound like a jet engine...that had sucked in 1 too many frozen birds. When the fan would turn on, in game frame rates would drop to less than 5fps.

After purchasing this cooler, the internal fan never needed to turn on. It kept the laptop cool enough to be able to run 24/7. The cooler is very quiet, and I have yet to have to clean any dust out of it after almost 4 years of on/off use.

Cooler has an low/high setting, a power LED (blue), and is powered by a USB pass-through plug (doesn't take up one of your USB ports because another device can plug into this plug).

Cons: 1) LED is kinda bright...but really if you NEED to have this running @ night (which is the only time it is ever TOO bright) then you can easily put something in front of it, remove the LED, or put a piece of electricians tape over it for the uninitiated.

2) No matter how many times I call Antec, they refuse to create a "5 minute Instant Pie" attachment for this cooler. Other than that, no cons.

Other Thoughts: Ok, anybody that says this cooler was bad/not worth it/a pain because dust got into the fans and grilles...have you all just never used a computer with fans on it before? A cooling fan is going to draw air in, and if you are in ANY environment other than a clean room @ Kodak or something, you are going to have dust. If you think this cooler gets more dust in it than other fans, you are crazy.

Both me and many friends were able to take these apart and add our own very thin dust filters to the inside with some hot-glue and a little patience (and if you don't mind voiding the warranty...but @ this price, who cares? I paid about $40 many years ago and it is still kicking).

If a bright LED and DUST IN THE FANS keep you from recommending this cooler, you need to start putting a "1 - Low Understanding" on your reviews.

Rating + 5 Excellent Choice

Pros: I've owned this product over 5 years now, and used it almost every day. I have had no problems with it at all. The fans are quiet, even on the high speed. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Cons: The only one I can think of is the USB power cable is too long. nothing a zip tie didn't take care of though.

Other Thoughts: Good investment for laptop cooling.

Rating + 4 What my laptop needed

Pros: does a good job cooling my laptop

Cons: awkward fit with the laptop on the expansion base

Other Thoughts: like being able to chose low and high speed fan; powered by usb, so it turns on and off with my laptop; still fits under the bottom exhaust port of my laptop even when it's docked. Good deal and I recommend

Pros: Cheap, quiet, sturdy and puts out good air flow

Cons: I've had this for about 2 month's now, and have no complaints.

Other Thoughts: This would be perfect for just about any 15.6 or below laptop. I have a 16inch, and it is fine...but sometimes I wish it was just a tad bit wider. This is not a knock on it, just something I wanted to throw out there for anyone getting ready to purchase.

Rating + 2 You get what you pay for

Pros: Vast fan span + draws heat well = non-overheated laptop (does what its supposed to do, I guess)

Cons: Runs constantly; No on/off switch. Must unplug at either USB or attachment end (which is sometimes difficult). Blue light is really bright and annoying. After a few months, the motor/fans began making a lot of noise. Lack of desk clearance increases audible noise/vibration and allows dust to collect within component.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't purchase again if I was granted a "do-over".

Rating + 5 Exactly what I needed...

Pros: * This item does exactly what it's designed to do - it keeps my 17 inch dell inspiron 1505 from turning into a toaster oven. Based on my CPU readings, I am 12 degrees cooler that w/o it on a hard flat surface after 30 min of electric sheep screen saver usage - very significant.
* The build is solid and reliable - size of unit is a good thing. Not too bog, not too small.
* Laptop fan makes more noise than the two larger ones in this unit - practically silent.
* USB power cable has pass-through so you don't sacrifice a single USB port.
* Despite the size, not annoyingly heavy.

Cons: * Blows air out the bottom-front and bottom-left only. This makes it inefficient if you use it on top of a comforter or similar. As long as you keep that in mind and leave one of the two openings relatively clear then it's perfectly fine.

Other Thoughts: * Impressed again with the metal mesh top and the overall stability. Last one I had was a cheapie - it was thinner and had 3 smaller fans - it got so warm it warped and bent in the middle, causing the little fan blades to start knocking into the top and bottom of the unit itself... will not ever have that problem here.
* Visual appeal means nothing because it is UNDER the laptop and all you see is black - if anything it looks like a stand. Doesn't look cheap.

Rating + 3 well, it did good.

Pros: Pretty good fan, it definitely makes a distinct difference in the computer heat. the fans make almost no noise.

Cons: one of my the fans on the cooler was broken so it was only working at like 50% of what it should be. i only really noticed this because when i first plugged it in i put my hand under it and one fan wasn't working. shipping must have been pretty rough. make sure the fan is working

Other Thoughts: it's funny that my cooler is only doing like 50% what it should, but it's defiantly great. if your cooler comes broken make sure you try to do something about, unlike me. i procrastinated until the return for newegg was expired so i have to go by warranty.

Rating + 3 If dust is a concern...pass on this cooler.

Pros: Solid Construction. Rubber feet and surface (where the laptop sits) are high quality and keep things in place. Attractive brushed aluminum surface. Relatively quite. USB powered with adjustable fan speed. USB power connector has another USB port built in - so that you don't lose a precious USB port on your laptop. Reasonably priced.

Cons: I'm actually on New Egg to replace this cooler after about a years operation. While it does a decent job at cooling, the very efficient fans are also efficient dust collectors. The more dust they collect, the less air they move, and the more noise they make. Unfortunately, Antec placed the screws under the rubber feet. To clean the fan fins, it is necessary to remove the epoxy secured rubber feet to get to the body screws. The rubber feet then need to be glued back on...kind of a hassle.

Other Thoughts: About once a year I clean the fans in both my desktop and laptop by unscrewing and popping off the vents. MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS TOO! Dust kills electrical components.

As for this cooler: Unless you plan on never needing to clean the fans - I'd pass.

Rating + 5 1 year and still going

Pros: Does its job. Got this mainly to help with WoW. Before I got this my average fps was between 15-20 in raids and I would have to turn off the machine every few hours (otherwise it would reset on me). After I got this my frames went up to 20-30 in raids.
Really quiet on the low setting. And the high setting is present, but easily ignored.

Cons: Just a slight con, the usb port pass-through is not quite as snug as a normal port. It still works, but feels a little loose.

Other Thoughts: Dell Inspiron 1505E (Nov 06)
Core 2 Duo 2Ghz
2 gb ram
ATI Mobility 1400x
Got this one for college and am still using it as my all in 1.

If it weren't for the gaming I would not have needed the cooler.

Pros: Fairly quiet. Fans have lasted. Cools decently. Perfect size for 15" laptops.
no lose of USB slot (passthrough)

Cons: power cord is weak and no longer works (after a few months) -2 eggs
Antec wants proof of purchase to replace! -1 egg
wasn't able to fix the broken wire to USB connections :(
The blue LED power indicator is a bit too brite (not anymore!)

Other Thoughts: Will be looking elsewhere for the next one as this one is now a passive lap desk (no power)

Rating + 2 Design Defect / Antec Failure to Stand Behind their Product

Pros: Frank Lee, Marketing Manager admits, in another message below, to a design defect in early models (right here in this message base).

That design defect has since been corrected... or so they claim. I guess that is commendable.... if it has in fact been corrected... but what about the people who already purchased it?

Cons: When I asked Antec support to replace my defective cooler, they refused unless I could provide them with the receipt that I no longer have. Either to make sure I don't attempt to fool them by returning a competitor's product, or for other reasons... most likely other reasons... what do you think?

When I asked for contact information to make my request directly to Frank Lee... they blew me off. They apparently didn't want me to talk to Frank.

Other Thoughts: 1. How do you know if they have really fixed the problem? Frank Lee seems like a straight shooter. I wonder if he even works there any longer.

2. They messed up. They know they messed up. Why not stand behind their product?

3. At least they didn't ask for the bar code off the box I no longer have... or then again maybe they would have if we had gotten that far.

4. I wonder how this speaks to how they stand behind their other products. I seem to remember having seen complaints elsewhere on design defects in the cases where the use of plastic was causing static electricity problems... and the complaint was that they were not standing behind that product either. And also complaints about random rebooting of their power supplies.

5. In the future, when I see complaints on Newegg about poor customer service, I am going to now weigh them more heavily in my purchasing decisions.

6. Does anyone know how I can contact Frank Lee directly?

Rating + 5 Amazing

Pros: It runs quietly, efficiently, keeps my laptop cool to the touch, and I am EXTREMELY happy with it.

Cons: The blue light on the side is VERY bright, and the little plastic feet were VERY difficult to get into the little holes. Other than that, its absolutely a perfect product.

Other Thoughts: My laptop had been ready to die because the fan was giving out and I couldn't stop it from overheating. My friend recommended I get this notebook cooler and it has completely saved my laptop.

Pros: Lowers my laptop's (especially my HD) temperature by a whole 16°F on low power.

Cons: The USB cord plugin is to the left. However, I expected that from the images provided. I can still reach (barely) the usb port at the back of my laptop, so it's not that big of deal.

Other Thoughts: I would have prefered the shape to be more rectangular rather than what it is now, but that's unimportant since my laptop sits on it nice and comfy.

Rating + 2 Blue Light Cooler

Pros: It is lightweight,
good price point,
quiet nearly silent operation,
has a usb pass through and
improved cord/connection.

Cons: That blue light is too bright but can be covered
the usb pass through plug protrudes from the left side and interferes with either the 2nd usb , negating the purpose of the pass through for the usb it is in, or into the path of the ethernet plug on the other side and since the cord and outlet is set up it can only go in one side so with frontward positioned usb ports it can not occupy a port where it wil not interfere.
It just does not cool my laptop possibly increases the operating temps of cpus . I have had it long enough to do many tests.
The placebo effect was all that worked as I was convinced that it was saving my laptop from a disasterous melt down but it was the placebo effect that worked. Everything about it gave the appearance of a great product so it must be doing as they said and many reviews reported, but not on mine. I use 2 different temp monitors and have done many tests or checks and to my surprise with the cooler going, it is not a degree cooler than with it o

Other Thoughts: I have a Toshiba Satellite 15.4" A215 4Gig/160GigHD AMD 2 core Turion 1.9mhz-4usb ports. I have it running with the browser (Foxfire 3.5)3 tabs, a few utilities, and CloneDvd so the DVD is running as well. With the cooler going full the temp is between 161° and as high as 171° and with it off it goes down to 155° -161°. when it is off I still have it under the laptop.
Right now , I am just running the browser and have 5 tabs and with the cooler on hi it is 133°-145°and I have turned it off and back and my temps are115°- 121°. (one core is usually running as much as 10°lower ) i have left the unit under the laptop . I know this is completely anecdotal info but it is happening. It is on my machine so others may have different experiences. I have done these tests today in 72° room temps and higher tests yesterday with no AC 80°+ ambient temps.
I hope this helps. I just found out how I had been fooled for a few months. I am stuck with this thing to keep my lap cooler is all

Rating + 5 It works!

Pros: Cools my laptop, looks nice, fans run quiet, USB connector has a pass-through feature.

Cons: Blue LED light is too bright.

Other Thoughts: I've only had this laptop cooler for a few days, but it has done an amazing job of keeping my Dell XPS m1530 very cool.

My laptop (as many m1530 users have reported) has been running extremely hot, as of late, under normal usage. When I say hot, I mean the top left side practically burns my hand when I touch it. I was afraid the PC was going to burn out, so I purchased this cooler. The temps have come way down, and the laptop surface is much, much cooler.

My 15.4" laptop sits nicely on top of the cooler, and the two fans run quiet even on the high setting. Another nice feature is the USB connector - it has an open USB port on the flip side, so you can plug in another USB device into it.

Recommended!

Pros: This laptop cooler is great. My cpu idle went from 47 *C to a whooping 31 *C on a desk. It rocks because my thigh is no longer burning. it is really cool to the skin. It idle at around 42*C when i have it on my thigh though. Mayb because the airway get a bit contricted. I look at chillmat and my friend has belkin?? and i have to say. Im very impressed. Cons: Ummm I can't think of any. i love the blue light. the cord isnt like the picture but hey ur on a laptop. usb port is on both side.

Pros: I bought this a week after i got my laptop just over 3 years ago. my laptop was hot to where i couldnt stand to rest my arm on it and type. i bought this cooler and havent had a problem since. it has a tiny blue led on the right side that i did find annoying but i just put a piece of electricial tape over it. problem gone. it has a low and high setting and the low setting does the trick with no problem and no noise. it even keeps a usb port open. buy this and you will not be dissapointed!

Cons: blue light can be annoying at night, put tape over it. problem gone

Other Thoughts: fits perfectly for my 15.6" acer 5670

Pros: I have Toshiba A215-S7428 lappie with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 set. It gets hot, needless to say. In fact, it was ritually shutting off on me (not before sending any project I was working on into wicked glitch mode) all the time. Not anymore!!!! Rating + 4 ok laptop cooler

Pros: It does keep my laptop much cooler in it's entirety than without it.

Cons: after over a year, it is now starting to have rattles from the fans, the plug for it is starting to show signs of giving out.

Other Thoughts: Don't get me wrong, it's still working and keeping old "Betsy" cool but i have power failures to it from out of nowhere and the rattles are slowly turning into a trapped squirrel in a cage sound. still pumps air, though.

Rating + 4 Works only on high

Pros: I usually buy this kind of stuff on newegg, but not this time because a retail store had it on sale for less. The advantages of this one are that there are two fans and on the high settings they move a lot of air.

Cons: 1) The cooler sucks air from the top and blows it out the sides. This opposes the cpu fan in most laptops that sucks air from the bottom and blows it out the sides.
2) The switch controlling high the fan speed is extremely fragile, I bought one yesterday and broke it so i had to do an exchange.
3) As some other people noted, the light is a little too bright.
4) you can hear the fan when its on high.

Other Thoughts: I actually tested this in various settings with a core temp program and will give you the results. While the computer is Idle and the cooler on low settings, the core temperature actually increased 1 degree C. When the fan setting was high it dropped the temperature 3 C in idle, and 10 C under heavy load. The heavy load was a nvidia 3d demo program. The laptop is widescreen and the part with the cpu fan hangs over the side where the exhaust to the cooler is. On high the strong exhaust cools the laptop very well, but on low it probably doesnt do anything.

Rating + 4 Not as cool as i expected

Pros: Been using this thing for over a year now, and nothing broke, i'm glad about that lol, quality is pretty good

The light color matched the one on my HP pavilion laptop

exhaust some hot air via the back

Cons: Would be much better cooling if it was completely empty below the aluminum top...or if i can change the fan's position.

The fan are in a position where it doesn't help that much for my laptop.

Other Thoughts: This thing did not perform as well as i expected, for HP pavilion laptops at least. With this thing on, and computer at idle, my CPU is still at 43C ish, while my GPU is at 70ish... When gaming, even if i turn it to high, the temp will be at the 80s for CPU and over 110s for the GPU. Not high enough to turn off the computer, but high enough where i can't play for a long time...

as i said..the fan are not designed in a place where it would benefit a HP pavilion laptop, but for other models i'm not sure.

But this thing still cool down my computer by around 5C, it's really a small difference between having it and not, but i'd rather have it anyway.

Rating + 2 Not Bad until It Broke

Pros: It worked well, kept my laptop cool. the right side of my laptop kept overheating so i bought this fan cooler and it dealt with the overheating issue well.

Cons: One of the fans broke after like three weeks. Seriously, i notice that the right side of my laptop was getting hotter and hotter like it used to so i felt the fans and one of the fans had totally stopped working. broken.

Other Thoughts: maybe i just got a bad issue, but unless you're gonna want to buy another fan cooler in a few months, look for something of higher quality.

Rating + 4 Very nice but not for 12inch

Pros: 1) This laptop does the job. My laptop used to turn off from overheating. But not it doesn't. It runs great and feels the cool even when running a 3D game.
2) I like the unique design and the aluminium material on the top.
3) USB powered, no extra AC adapter.

Cons: 1) As others have mentioned, the blue light on the side is too bright. It's almost like laser. If your bed is next to your desk, trust me, it's a LASER.
2) Therer is only one USB port, and the cable is really SHORT. also FRAGILE.
3) The material is cheap. Like others have mentioned, come on Antec, you can do better than this.
4) The fan is too big for 12inch computer. So you gotta tilt your laptop so that at least it's tilted.

Other Thoughts: Although there are many cons, IT DOES THE JOB.
just for the tip, SMALLER THAN 12INCH LAPTOP DOESN'T FIT!!!

Rating + 5 So far, so good

Pros: I can tell you this, I am running this with my Dell Laptop Day and night. I can tell the difference when the laptop is blazing the net and doing other tasks. Which by the way it can cause some heating issues. If you have already purchased one of these notebook coolers, You will be safe from overheating. I have just been running this cooler for three days now, No problems reported.

Cons: Cheap fans? Cheap plastic? Aww come on, You cannot possibly try to go with expensive material by sacrificing price. This is no con but something to look into, my girl friend tried her best to take this away from me. I have to admit that she wanted one of these really bad. Instead she went to wally world and gotten one, hers is totally different from mine.

Other Thoughts: To the posters who write cheap plastics and cheap this and cheap that, Maybe your hands are way to strong or trying to break these. I have no issues whatsoever with this cooler. I would buy another one If I had the money in my pocket. These aren;t really that bad. Please be realistic

Rating + 4 Pretty good fan, poor connector.

Pros: -Definitely works. Fan does a pretty good job of removing heat from my HP DV2000. Keeps my laptop noticeably cooler.
-Decent build quality (except for the connector - more below). The unit feels fairly solid. The aluminum is nice and helps with the heat dissipation.
-Pass through USB connector is convenient as it doesn't force you to lose a USB slot.
-Large rubber feet help keep the cooler from sliding around on the table.

Cons: -That light is just overly bright. Hurts your eyes to look at. Fixed with a small piece of electrical tape and a tiny hole in it.
-The little rubber nubs that keep the laptop lifted and in place pop out occasionally, but it's not a big deal to put them back in.
-The cooler is a bit heavier than I thought it would be and it is a little bulkier than other similar products.
-The USB connector is pretty cheap and flimsy. It was bent fairly easily when a small amount of weight was placed on it. It worked for a while before it eventually got loose from moving around. Just lost my second connector.

Other Thoughts: To the person who said that you can't clean the fan. You can take apart the cooler if you first remove the rubber feet from the bottom. Then unscrew the four screws in each corner. The whole plastic base can be removed by lifting at the middle of each of the four sides so that the two pieces are no longer clipped together. From there you have the unit open so that the fans can be cleaned.

Overall, a good product as long as you're careful with the USB connector.

Cons: Poorly constructed!!!

Other Thoughts: I'll spend up

Pros: I over clocked my Laptop countless of times. And this helped it cool down and prevented any burn outs. Without it my laptop actually shuts down and crashes. At one point it actuatilly fried the mother board. SO i had to replace the mother board.
After that incident i purchased this cooler and it never happened again.

Cons: Well.. It works "okay" but after a month or two the fan starts to make whirling noises.

Its been about 9 months after that and it functions the same with the annoying noise. There must be somthing wrong with the bearings.

Other Thoughts: Im thinking about buying building a new computer from new egg..

One of the cases im considering is Antec three hundred. I think this laptop cooler sucks anyways. The desktop antec cases are suppose to be way better then this. I will give them another try.

Pros: Nice looking, high-quality build, nice fit and finish. Has USB pass-through so it doesn't take up any ports. Cools some laptops better than others.

Cons: Cools some laptops better than others. I'm using a (white) macbook and while I can assure you that your temps will be lower, how much lower is what I cannot say. Idle my macbook ran 65C and full on could get up to 80C in which the fan would get so loud it was ridiculous. I bought this for a great price of $19.95 and since then the overall temp drop has been 1-5C so now im usually around 60C Idle and 75C full on. Again, like I said some may have better luck with this, but although the cooler helps some it definitely does not help enough.

Other Thoughts: I kinda wish that the fans would push the air up rather than suck it down. Im thinking that may have something to do with my problem as macbooks......or macs in general do not have any vents on the bottom.

Rating + 3 Laptop Cooler?

Pros: Very quiet operation Free shipping very easy to set up and install. It has almost no impact. I can not think of any other pros, unobtrusive maybe?

Cons: Flimsy, cheaply made, expensive. I could not believe how little it did for all the hype. It sits there and elevates the laptop but isn't really good for a lap too small . It is about as cheaply made item i have seen and for so much money. I did not notice much more than a few degree reduction of heat under high fan which is not really too high. It might have been ok if i only spent (?). It just is not worth it for such a minor impact on the heat. I do not do serious gaming mostly watch movies, streaming video and that and the heat does build up after some time and if i am doing other things while watching/burning and this thing does nothing . though it probably is not worse for the dollar/effect than most others in this bracket though. I have come to think that the whole idea of laptop heat reduction has created this easy market for price gouging on junk that is all design and marketing and no function. i get cool air from the vents of the device and still hot out of the regular fan

Pros: This thing does the job for me. I would have heat-induced system lockups before this unit, now no problem. I usually use it without even plugging it in; just raising the laptop and getting circulation gets the job done. however, when I'm working in a hot environment I'll plug it in. I have had scenarios where I thought it would be ok without the fan, then had it lockup; reboot, plug in the fan, and it will recover and keep things cool from then on. Currently using it with a 15" Dell Precision M65 and a Dell Studio 16" @2.93 GHz, which wants to cook itself!

Cons: none

Rating + 4 Keeps cool, perhaps, but doesn't restore an overheated laptop

Pros: Helps keep laptop cool; provides a nice stand for the laptop.

Cons: Has a bright LED light; doesn't help an overheating computer.

Other Thoughts: Here is the verdict: While this Cooler may help keep my laptop cool, once my computer is overheated, the only thing I can do is set it to Standby and let it cool itself.

Here is what normally happens: I turn on my computer, and then it gets rather hot. If I go to play games from there, then the internal fan works overtime (in addition to the Cooler), but they don't bring the temp down. However, if I awaken my laptop from Standby or Hibernation, the computer is already quite cool, and temps stay low during gameplay. The question is, did the Cooler really help anything? Since I am not planning to return the Cooler, I have not really thought through that question.

Pros: A very noticeable difference. My laptop used to overheat all the time until I got this. Even if I run it on low speed while running games, I can feel how much cooler my laptop is. It is also great that it splits the USB port so you can still plug in something else.

Cons: The fans are dust magnets. Also after a while if there is too much dust buildup, it starts making rumbling noises. It also has a neon light on its side which can get annoying.

Other Thoughts: A necessity if you play games on your laptop

Pros: Definitely a noticeable difference. I cannot play a single 3d game on my laptop without getting horrible video lag due to overheating. Once I sit it on this thing, I can go for hours at a time.

Cons: I have a 17" widescreen laptop, it hangs off about 2 inches at the least to one side.

The power cord has gotten fiddly, although this didn't happen until I had been using it for more than a year, and it still works, once you have it plugged in right.

There is an obvious difference when this is on, this + a removed cover from my laptop, lowered it 20 degrees and never reaches 80C anymore.

Cons: Sorta doesnt fit my 14in laptop that well, but its not a problem. Oh and the rubber things on the top were a pain to put in.

Rating + 5 Great for laptop gaming

Pros: This is working wonderfully for my dell xps m1530. Both my wife and I play WoW and have problems with the notebooks overheating after about 30m of play whether they are on a table or on our laps. Bought one of these a week ago and can tell a noticeable difference in both my cpu temps and just touching the laptop.

Cons: The LED is an insane blue, however it doesn't bother me much as it is off to the left. The usb plug in kind of fights with my power cord so I had to coax it in there and also the same cord that gives power to the cooler seems flimsy where it connects to the cooler.

Other Thoughts: For me where I just use my notebook in one spot all the time this is amazing. I can literally feel the difference in heat. My notebook used to be almost too hot to touch after overheating while playing, but now it's almost too cold to touch.

Pros: On it's own, this cooler looks good. Came with some additional rubber pads which was nice.

Cons: Definitely not the airflow that was expecting and really- wouldn't expect this product to cool anything efficiently. - 5 VDC fans are really not enough to force enough air to provide good cooling. One fan didn't want to work out of the box and had to play with it a little to get it going (basically take it apart and plug in it's connector).

Other Thoughts: I really am not impressed with laptop coolers while good in principle, unless they are able to push some serious air- they won't do much. USB powered fans won't cut it in my opinion unless it's a single large fan. I had originally bought this not for my laptop, but for my home theater receiver that seems to heat-up nicely inside the tv stand I have it in. This definitely won't do it.

If you want a cool looking, stand to prop your laptop on so it doesn't sit directly in contact with a bed or something- this works.

Pros: Got it for next to nothing when I bought the laptop, high/low fan setting, gives me a false sense of security.

Cons: Makes no appreciable difference in CPU temp, even when run on high speed. Gets a tad loud on high setting.

Other Thoughts: Sony VIAO duo core laptop, CPU temps monitored with SpeedFan. It's not like my laptop was running exceptionally hot (~50c/55c idle/load), but I would have liked to see at least some difference to justify the noise. Dialing the CPU's power usage down a little in Power settings was way more effective.

Rating + 4 Laptop gaming

Pros: I got this from circuit city a while back. I went off to college and my gaming rig shifted from an old scrap Desktop to a (at the time) higher end laptop for gaming. When playing games this thing gets HOTTT but after putting on of these coolers under it the temps dropped a deceit amount. When playing newer games like Left 4 Dead, my computer will shut down after 45m or so if im not using this cooler. It works.

Cons: Laptops usually have a left exaust that hot air is blasted out of. the CPU and GPU are close to that opening, i usually set my laptop so that one of the fans is directly under where the CPU is and the rest of my laptop hands off the end. Idk if this helps but it makes sense in my head so...Air is also sucked from sides of where computer sits, all coolers will have this as laptops come with rubber stands. High setting is audibly noticeable, however thats not a con because it means its moving air so...

Other Thoughts: Laptops usually have a left exaust that hot air is blasted out of. the CPU and GPU are close to that opening, i usually set my laptop so that one of the fans is directly under where the CPU is and the rest of my laptop hangs off the end. Idk if this helps but it makes sense in my head so... The top is metal with circular cut holes, plastic frame and rubber stands where it sits.

Rating + 4 So Far, So Good

Pros: Price (got mine locally for $8.00 less)
Quietness, I am really enjoying using a computer without having to deal with loud fan noise. This cooler is quiet on both speeds.
Looks are fine, I have a Asus G50 which is wide but managed to place it on cooler and they look good together.
Height, I actually got it to raise notebook off desk so things weren't so low to ground.
Hi-Low speeds, I wouldn't want to mess with the switch too much since it could break. Best to set on one and forget.
Feet, it has large rubber pads for support and prevent slippage.

Cons: USP cord is short and the connector is wide.
Power Use Warning. There is a warning concerning USB power use when using the pass through feature. There may be a 5 watt max and the fans could use most of it depending on speed. I use a RoseWill USB hub that supplies its own power so this is not a problem with me.
If I were to plug the cooler directly into USB hub it would run all the time. When I plug it into the computer first and plug the Rosewill into it then it shuts off when I power down laptop.

Other Thoughts: This is not something to be transported along with computer. It does appear to lower temps since computer fan runs slower. I had one of the exhaust areas facing me and I could smell that odor that electronics give off, had to face it away. This was proof that it was drawing air/heat from inside of laptop to outside. If the fans give out I will replace them with better. My laptop runs pretty cool on its own but this can't hurt. I once had a laptop than ran really hot and had to build my own cooler, this was so much easier and the price was really cheap. Anything made in China has a short shelf life, unfortunately. I wish our country would take back control of its own manufacturing and bring back the MADE IN USA PRIDE WE ONCE HAD!!!

Cons: -Lasted only a few months. The place where the cord plugs into it comes loose. I wish I knew this before I bought it. I work in a Returns department for a Fortune 500 company, and we have a ton of these getting returned.

Other Thoughts: Total JUNK.
Manufacturer Response:I'm sorry that the product was unable to meet your expectations. Unfortunately, we realized that the cord design was weak before the product release. We have then changed the design hoping it will offer better durability for the user. Thank you for your feedback.

Pros: I bought one for the wife, then one for myself because I was so pleased with hers. Quiet, dual speed fan keeps the PC fan off all the time. USB port in the slightly bulky USB power plug is a plus; you don't lose a port. I've compared it against other brands owned by friends and they all end up with the Antec after they see mine. The fan on the cooler (high speed) is less obtrusive than the fan on the PC, and at low speed it's nearly inaudible.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Can't provide any long-term information, but the lack of nearly any noise while it's running is a good indicator that this one's built right and is gonna last for awhile. The Blue LED on the cooler is bright enough to light up a dark room, and I'm not even kidding.

Cons: my wife has had her's for around 8 months and about a week ago the thing started sounding like a monster when the fans start up but then quiet down a bit but the sound is still noticeable.

just got a new one today for a new laptop and out of the box the right fan sounds insane and the left fan is making a crackling noise once in a while.

Rating + 4 A Decent Cooler

Pros: The fans have two speed settings, are relatively quiet, and move a lot of air compared to two other coolers I have used. The male USB connector has a female behind it, so you don't lose a port. There's a little storage bin in the bottom to stow the cord when not in use. Works as advertised.

Cons: The blue LED is too bright and totally unnecessary. The "exhaust" vents get clogged with dust and need a good blast with compressed air every couple weeks. The lack of an on/off switch means you will be handling the extremely flimsy cord more than you otherwise would.

Other Thoughts: It's debatable just how much these things actually help keep your equipment cool. To say that having a cooler hooked up will actually extend the life of your laptop is a bit of a stretch. These are somewhat gimmicky products. Although laptops have sufficient fan power and vents, these products obviously aren't going to hurt anything, they do help somewhat. It's good that this cooler sucks air down and blows it out the sides. I had another cooler that blows upward on the bottom of my laptop, where there are no vents. Xbox 360 users: I also have a white/silver one of these under my 360. The X shape and color scheme of the cooler looks like it was made for the 360! It works well and is a good alternative if you don't trust those powered accessory fans that deserve the bad reviews that they get. Overall this is a decent product if you have a few bucks to burn, but it's not a necessity.

Rating + 5 Very Efficient, I left a pic with temp. details

Pros: 2 fans, very silent, on the low speed there is no noise, it made me think i did not plug it in but it was working alright. On the high setting it makes a very minimal ammount of noise, less than my already quiet regular inner notebook cpu fan.

IT COOLS SUPER SUPER GOOD. Without this thing I used to average my CPU and Ram at above 55C now its about 45C under heavy load, and 30C or less on idle. I used to have my HDD on 48C without cooler on normal or heavy load but now with antec pad under it never reaches its maximum temp where it ussually failed on me, it actually stay at a COOL 36C max, how crazy is that. and its about 30-34C or so idle, which is awesome in the low 30s mostly.

Cons: none yet, just be gentle with it and dont break the parts such as the usb connector, do not nock it off with ur hand or a book or w/e. Too much pressure might break ur usb attachment and probably damage ur laptop, and that goes for any laptop and device u plug in thru usb, usb ports are somewhat fragile.

Other Thoughts: I actually like the blue light.

My ussually fire hot laptop, now stays cool with the antec cooler, idles at around 27-30 C on CPU and about 30-40 on Ram Dimm, 28-30C on hdd 27-30 also on GPU. On moderate to strenous use, like video-games, temperature rise to be as follows: 37C Hdd(used to be 48C before which was my HDD max and it will then crash), 45-49C Ram Dimm (I think i just have cheap/bad ram but temps are actually still very good not 55-56C as they were without the cooler). On games, Cpu stays below 46C at an ussual constant of 45C this is very cool, and its a huge step from what it used to be at 55-57 or more without the chill pad. Gpu on games, is about 42-44 max, which is very nice, used to jump around quite fast from an ussual 46 to 55 but no more without the chillpad.

Overall im happy i have this cooler pad now, no more burning sensations haha.

Pros: Keeps laptop cool enough on hi setting to prevent laptop fan from turning on (Acer Travelmate C204TMi); cheap when I bought it with $20 rebate; powered from single USB port with passthrough (sufficient power to run 250GB WD Passport Portable from passthrough when on AC power).

Cons: Blinding bright blue LED (minor con); not *very* quiet on hi setting (but significantly more quiet than laptop fan was, so still a decent tradeoff); USB plug broke (the metal bit came out) but I manage to shove it back together and it still works; the black rubber nubbins you have to twist in yourself can only be placed in one spot when it would be convenient to be able to place them closer together if you have a smaller laptop (mine is just large enough to be propped up by by them) and sometimes can be twisted out if you're not careful and it gets rubbed around in the backpack (although I forcibly removed them once myself, so maybe this wouldn't normally happen).

Other Thoughts: The shape is interesting but imo kind of pointless. I wouldn't have bought this at full price, but I had a mail-in rebate and it wound up being ~$10, though it's probably worth more than *that*. The placement of the fans seem fine for my laptop though I guess it depends where your hottest components are located. It's pretty dusty after ~6 months of use, so I guess I need some canned air to blow it out.

Pros: USB powered. Noticeably cooler. It is barely audible and has a hi or low setting. It also provides an extra USB port right were you plug it in the laptop so you don't lose any ports.

Cons: Not powerful enough, when playing computer games, it does not keep my laptop cool enough to prevent it from over heating and shutting down. I would say it is more worth $25-$30 than $40

Other Thoughts: Though I have noticed it has cooled my computer, I haven't seen an increase in performance. (Note: I am using Vista Ultimate Edition) I would guess that this cooler would have more of an effect on performance on XP, because it uses less memory to run the OS itself.

Pros: Does its job quite well, keeps my laptop cool. Rubber grips keep laptop from sliding around too much.

Cons: As others have mentioned, the LED is extremely bright. Several weeks ago I left the Laptop on in my back bedroom with the LED pointing toward the door of my bedroom, and when I woke up in the middle of the night I thought I'd left the lights on. Pros: Inexpensive. A rebate at my time of purchase made it about $5. Most definitely cools my laptop more efficiently than without it. Whether it cools enough to ward off any future component failure is arguable.

Cons: Fan noise on low setting is acceptable. On high the noise level goes up but I have not found a need to run it on high. The blue LED is annoying. It's much brighter than necessary and could have been deleted from the design without compromising the product. It makes a good night light though.

Other Thoughts: I've never seen a working laptop cooler properly connected and displayed in a retail store and had only various user reviews to help make a decision. Based on many reviews which varied widely, it's still a roll of the dice as to which one to buy. I went for price (cheap).

Pros: Keeps Dell 1501 laptops fresh and cool. May consider buying another for my XPS once it comes in. Fits a 15.4 well. Rubber anti-skids on all four points are close enough inwards where it doesn't bother the feet on the laptop itself. I don't have any complaints when it's placed on my lap. No discomfort. Blue light makes for a nice night light if you keep it running.

Cons: Blue light is blinding if you have it in higher places, like I do, at times. Also, the positioning of the power cord sucks. You have to flip the cooler around and the fan underneath blows on you. Should have the plug in the back and where the fan blows from the back of the laptop. Power cord comes loose once in a while and if you don't check to see if it's in, the laptop can get twice as hot because of the metal platform. The USB connector also extends out a bit much because of another USB connection you can plug to it, BUT it's USB 1.0, not 2.0 which is faster. If they remove that piece and reposition the power cord to the back, this would be perfect.

Other Thoughts: However, the power cord is long enough so you can avoid all of that, but then you have an extra long cable sticking out and I would rather stick with what I have now. I can live with it. Read the specs on everything

Pros: It gives me the lift I need to use my laptop on soft surfaces. Haven't bothered with the fan yet, but battery power is a neat concept.

Cons: Too small to fit my 17" laptop perfectly, but i knew that coming into it.

Other Thoughts: Hey it does what it's supposed to do, keeps the laptop a little cooler, and provides a solid surface to use on couches and beds. Price is right as well.

Rating + 5 Saved my wife's Laptop!

Pros: Extra cooling has prevented my wife's Alienware Sentia from overheating. Also has helped take stress off of the laptop case by giving a stable platform to pick up instead of putting pressure on the bottom of the laptop case. 2 speed setting is very nice for using when surfing vs. burning DVDs.

Cons: Slightly larger footprint than the laptop has, but not bad. Doesn't need to waste the battery life by powering the blue LED in addition to the fans.

Other Thoughts: Would be really nice if it detected temperature and automatically adjusted a variable speed fan. Probably available on a different, higher price model.

Pros: It cools the laptop somewhat.

Cons: Noisy. Doesn't work too well as it does not produce a lot of air flow. USB plug's slightly too large and the wire coming out from the plug often interferes other USB plug.

Other Thoughts: I compared the machine with and without fan, and decided not use fan at all as it doesn't make much of difference. I turn on the fan only when the machine does movie encoding and I'm leaving the room as it's noisy for me.

Pros: Quite, Sleek, Efficient

Cons: Cord alittle to short
Blue light is to bright

Other Thoughts: I'm using this with a MacBook Pro Santa Rosa 15inch, during the day I run VMware Fusion for Testing software, at night I take the laptop home and play World of Warcraft, this of course makes the CPU fans work almost 24/7.
This product didn't really lower the temperature any when playing WoW the temps were normally between 160 and 170F with the CPU fans running at 4-5K RPM. After setting up the cooler I still run between 160-170F but the fans don't go above 3,500 RPM. So this product has helpped, but I was really hoping it would lower the temps a little more.
Also the power cord gets in the way if you plug it into the left USB port, I had to route it under the cooler to plug it in my right USB port which is a pretty tight fit but still works.
This barely fits btw, may want to consider a bigger cooler if you have a Macbook Pro 15", won't work with a 17" for sure.

Pros: works like it should, when my wife steals it my laptop burns my legs but this thing has kept it very cool for over two years now.

Cons: i'd like to try one with a bit more airflow

Other Thoughts: now my wifes laptop is crashing from the heat and after using this she has decided to buy one. probably a good idea :P

Rating + 5 good and quiet

Pros: Cools great on low speed, quiet mode, but high speed isn't that much louder. Noticeably cooler surface temps all over notebook. Aluminum top adds a heat sink effect. Notebook fan itself rarely runs at high speed now.

Cons: odd shape, but iI suppose it looks 'cool'

Other Thoughts: Wanted a cooler to extend service life of a new notebook computer and the 2 spd fan and pass thru usb connector sold it to me. I built a lapdesk for my system, and integrated this cooler into it. I have the wireless mouse dongle and power cords all on the right and mousing room too. Works great for me!

Rating + 5 Antec Notebook Cooler

Pros: Great cooler for a great price. It sucks air away from the bottom of the laptop and then blows it out from the back and right side. It really keeps my dell e1505(fits well too) cool especially the hard drive and memory chipset area. A must buy if you game alot on your laptop or use it on a soft surface i.e. bed or on your lap

Cons: Usb power cord is a bit flimsy. I had to buy a replacement usb power cord. If your power cord breaks or malfunctions try buying a psp usb charger cord

Pros: I ordered it because every laptop should have some form of a cooler to help control temps and this product works exactly like it should. It helps keep circulation going and keeps the laptop cooler not only to the touch but also it's quite noticeable how the laptop's fans run on a lower setting.

Cons: None

Pros: big enough for most laptops, good heat barrier even if you do not use the fans

Cons: One of the fans refuses to start about half the time unless I manually start it. Fans have been loosing speed. The passthrough broke first, then the circular power jack in the cooler itself. I've repaired both but it took a while to get the passthrough back together. The fans are also not reversible, so they wind up fighting my internal fan.

Other Thoughts: This cooler is more fragile than it looks, so don't be careless with it. Despite that, opening it up to fix things is very hard. Take a look at how/where your laptop's fan draws in air. Also make sure that the feet of your laptop will rest on it properly, as the shape is strange.

Rating + 5 Awesome!

Pros: Very dramatic drop in temps on a 15.4" Compaq v4000T. I run folding@home on my notebook whenever it's on (100% CPU), even during the hottest days of summer. I use my notebook on my lap in bed and this cooler not only helps with airflow by propping it up a bit, but it also decreases the amount of work the fans on the laptop have to do, which resulted in a noticeable drop of noise as well!

Cons: I don't like the fact that the USB connector sticks out of the laptop so much. I'd rather have a cooler with its own Lithium-Ion battery back, but that would be prohibitively expensive.

Other Thoughts: Not going to help much if you have a laptop with defective cooling. No cooler is a replacement for failing, dust clogged fans.

Rating + 4 Antec Black Notebook Cooler

Pros: Lightweight; reasonably sturdy build; does cool your laptop;

Cons: Placement of fans may not be appropriate for your laptop; no "on/off" switch; does not shut off automatically if laptop is on suspend/hibernate; pass through USB connector might inadvertantly block other USB ports

Other Thoughts: This cooler was clearly designed for larger laptops, as my 13" laptop seems to be a tad bit smaller in comparison to the large surface of the cooler. But it does cool reasonably well, as the internal laptop fan never ran as frequently as it did after using this product.

Otherwise, despite some design shortcomings, this laptop cooler is worth your consideration.

Incidentally, if Antec does offer rebates on this product, they should be avoided. After contacting them, I get the feeling that the fulfillment center (for Antec) intends to withhold your money as long as they possibly can through various questionable tactics.

Pros: Lightweight, well-built, two fans, USB powered

Cons: Although it has two fans, the placements is inadequate thus not providing good airflow for cooling the sony laptop I have.
Annoying blue LED common to Antec.

Other Thoughts: Buy another notebook cooler.

Rating + 3 Airflow direction

Pros: Well made, good fans, plenty of airflow to do the job.

Cons: It's designed to pull air away from the bottom of the laptop and blows it out the sides of the cooler.
This is a con for me because my Gateway's fan pulls air in from the bottom and blows it out the side of the laptop. So the cooler and the laptop fan were working against each other.

Other Thoughts: If your laptop's fans exhaust air out the bottom then this cooler would work great for you.
I took my cooler apart and tried to reverse the flow, can't do it. I leave it unplugged and use it to keep some ground clearence for good airflow.

Rating + 5 Works great.

Pros: As mentioned in an earlier review, the fans sit right under the CPU on Dell laptops; lightweight; dual-speed fans; effective.

Cons: Power cord sticking out of the side of the USB plug rather than connected in the back of the plug is annoying, as is the speed switch being on the side rather than the front of the unit.

Other Thoughts: Neither annoyance warrants taking an egg, because the performance of this cooler is great. I can play graphics- and CPU-intensive games for hours on end with this under my Dell XPS 1530 without the bottom of the laptop ever feeling the least bit warm. You can hear the fans if you have them on high, but the volume is very acceptable for the outstanding cooling you get.

On my XPS, the power cord sticking out of the left side of the USB plug interferes slightly with my XPS' power cord connector when it is plugged in, which is irritating. Moving the Antec power cord to the opposite side means you have a cord in your way when using a mouse, so there's no good solution, but most people won't have this problem.

Fantastic product and good value at its retail price. On sale, it's a flat-out steal.

Pros: It's built sturdy.
It's quiet.
Has fast and slow fan settings

Cons: Laptop still get's hot.

Other Thoughts: On my 14" Compaq laptop, the laptop still get's pretty hot. I've tried different placements, but it's just not working. Despite reading many positive reviews, I was sadly disappointed at the performance of this laptop cooler.

I bought this cooler to replace a cheap neon lights cooler that I had bought for 10 dollars (it was too bright for my taste). The performance on the cheap one is vastly superior to Antec's laptop cooler. I'll probably stop using the antec cooler because it just doesn't work well at all.

Rating + 3 You can find better

Pros: Cools the center of the laptop, but that's all.

Cons: Two fans are dead center in the pad, doesn't provide very good cooling for a laptop that is 15 inches or more. Would be fine for a smaller laptop, but I would keep shopping if you have a large laptop or intend to use this for gaming or heavy computing. Also has an obnoxiously bright LED on the side that can light a dark room on its own.

Other Thoughts: I use this with my Dell Inspiron 1501. All it really does for that machine is cool the Memory chips. I had to drill a few extra holes in it to cool the processor at all.

Rating + 5 great product

Pros: This product cools my notebook very well. It never gets more than a little warm underneath and it works on my bed just as good as the desk. I especially like the plug having the extra USB port built-in so that you don't lose one.

Cons: The power indicator LED is a little too bright. It shined me once or twice in the eye and it wasn't pleasant. It can be covered I suppose. The cable storage compartment didn't have much purpose for me either.

Other Thoughts: Had this for close to a month now. Overall, it's a great product for the price. It's better quality than some I've seen out there, too.

Rating + 2 Avoid

Pros: This is an update from previous:

It cools your notebook PC, even my large Dell 17" E1705 if you keep it center over the center memory banks that has air vents.

Cons: The connector is a piece of junk. It fell apart in 3 months. I soldered and made a new connector. It holds well, but after 9 months of use, it now causes a short to the USB port which XP promptly shuts that port off. Nuisance. On top of that, the fans draw heat away from the laptop. No way to reverse airflow. Avoid this thing, not worth it, even if it's free after rebates.

Rating + 5 great cooler

Pros: Nice styling
decent build quality
air comes out the front

Cons: will raise your laptop up an inch... BUT for me thats a pro!!!

Other Thoughts: Got the cooler, was studier than expected, the brushed aluminum = good, i like the thick black pastic edge, looks great. It will raise your laptop up an inch, for me this is a good thing, I noticed that the other angled/incline laptop stands can BLOCK your headphone jacks. This actually made it easier for me to plug in my SD cards (front slot of my laptop) and plug in USB, headphone, etc... I like the fact that the laptop is up... I dont' like the ones that are on a n incline. Before the cooler I tried a few non-fan laptop stands including logitech clear plastic, etc.... my hard drive temp was 48-49C... with the cooler my temp is now 40-42 and stays constantly cool. I'm so glad I bought it, I feel good keeping my laptop on for extended periods of time.

Pros: My dv4000 HP laptop's fan would always churn like its a windmill. This thing is quiet, has a extra usb port to make up for the one it uses.

Cons: None, except where the cable is put underneath it. It says push to open. I pushed and the push tab was no more. Sort of flimsy. But that doesn't affect the what it was made to do.. coool. and it does that very well.

Other Thoughts: Newegg shipped 2nd day UPS. Very cool.

Cons: NONE!!

Rating + 2 Not what I expected from Antec

Pros: Solid design; durable. Still works.

Cons: Bulky, laptop doesn't stay in place, I owned this for a while and one of the fans occassionally makes a rattling sound.

Other Thoughts: I took the whole thing apart and used compressed air to get the dust out of it. Then tighted the screws around the fans which seemed to help at first but after a few days the rattling came back. All in all I don't think any notebook coolers are worth the money. I luckily got this at a much lower price after a mail-in-rebate. I still wonder why none of these have larger fans in them which could make them quieter.

Rating + 5 Great cooler 3+ years now

Pros: I bought this three years ago in Puerto Rico to deal with my notebook overheating on a constant basis. What I like about this cooler is that it blows out the air from the sides, and not the bottom. This way you can use it on your lap without burning your legs.

Cons: The blue light it gives off can be annoying if it's set up in the same place you sleep, but that's easy enough to cover up.

Other Thoughts: I just bought a new Dell Vostro 1500, and I will buy another one of these. If you own a notebook, you must buy some sort of cooler for it. I've had my Dell Inspiron 5100 for four years now, and because I always made sure it was cool, it's performed like a champ.

Pros: Solid construction, storage panel underneath for USB cable is nice, often don't need to use the fans at all. Fairly comfortable to sit on your lap for shorter periods, but I mostly keep mine on a desk.

Cons: Can be tricky to get rubber stand-offs inserted, and I've knocked one stand-off out of its hole through normal laptop use in the past month.

Rating + 2 Think about where your laptop heats up first

Pros: Cooled off my cheap work laptop by 4-5C.

Cons: Caused my gaming laptop to actually get 1-2C hotter. If you're actually using it on your lap then your legs are going to get a lot cooler than your laptop will in most cases.

Other Thoughts: When buying a laptop cooler its important to realize where the majority of heat on your laptop is. If you currently have weak fans on your CPU and GPU then you want a cooler like this that sucks heat off of the laptop. If you have good fans though (as a lot of gaming laptops will) then the majority of the heat is going to collect around your battery and drives. In which case you want a cooler that blows upward and this would be a bad choice.
