Rating + 5 Nice and cool

Pros: It's huge = good cooling area. The fan is very quiet at slower speeds. Once I set my bios to run it at very slow speed, I can't hear it anymore. CPU is still nice an cold though. It sure looks good.

Cons: It's huge, can be bothersome in smaller cases. Can be pretty loud when running full speed. Stupid nvidia striker and thus LED is only in green color.

Other Thoughts: I used it for AMD Phenom II x4 CPU and I had a little hard time attaching this heat-sink. But, it could be just my case (Antec 900) with my motherboard that gave me little space to work with. It clears my RAM easily, so no problems there.

Rating + 5 Excellent cooler

Pros: This thing is awesome. I overclocked my X3 720 to 3.3ghz (Not THAT high, i know) and this keeps it stable at 35 degrees running prime 95. The cooler is very sturdy and well built. I was extremely impressed by the quality of the polish on the bottom of the plate that contacts the CPU. Zalman did another excellent job with this cooler.

Cons: BIG. Fits perfectly in my Raidmax Smilodon case.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you use proper technique when applying thermal paste. You only need to apple a LITTLE bit, about the size of a grain of rice. Then with a gloved fingers, spread the grease EVENLY over the surface of the processor. it should be an almost transparent layer of grease. anything more will begin to insulate the cooler and CPU from each other. Just look on youtube, there are plent of videos to explain the process.

Rating + 5 Cool runnings

Pros: - *Much* less noise than OEM heatsink (which had a tiny fan)
- Much cooler temps
- Phenom II x3 is now stable overclocked (2.8 to 3.6 Ghz), which was crashing at only 3.2 before. It ran a week straight without a blip. I haven't tried to go beyond 3.6.

Cons: No functional cons

Other Thoughts: - Somehow the thermal paste in the box was partially used and the remainder was somewhat dry and hard. Had to provide my own thermal paste. Not worth a "con" but worth mentioning.

Rating + 4 green eyed beast

Pros: cools like a pro
looks like a pro
sounds like a pro
fits my cm 690 perfectly, love the green LED, since I replaced the default blue cm fan with a green one.

Cons: yeah, this thing can get somewhat loud at times. Definitely the loudest fan in my built. But it is a beast and beasts deserve to be heard I guess...:) ...not a big con for me, but I expected it to be quieter.

Other Thoughts: anyone complaining about the installation onto AMD brackets: just close your eyes, apply constant pressure and pray that the click you're about to hear will be from the fan's metal bracket clicking into place, not your Phenom II breaking in half. It worked for me. :) ...no, seriously - your CPU will survive. ...something this big needs to be secured tight.

Rating + 5 Very nice

Pros: Great cooling solution. Very good quality, look fantastic and perform great.

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: I said price as a con, but that being said I have yet to use an air cooling solution that works as well as this item for the price.

Rating + 5 Pay attention next time you buy!

Pros: Cools very well; down 30C+ after 2 days from the stock cooler. Green glow adds a nice touch to the MB LEDs. No overpowering like other coolers/fans can be. Fins aren't sharp as previously reviewed by others. Comes with thermal paste.

Cons: A large cooler (read: better heat dissipation). Pretty much needs a full tower to fit. Intel chips per the directions need the MB pulled so the brace can be added.

Other Thoughts: I needed something to replace the stock cooler on my Phenom which was hovering around 54C at idle. Picked this up from a local store simply because there was no other choice. I was immediately surprised by the weight and size of the cooler. Got it home and read through the directions. I really have no idea what people are talking about when they say that it is difficult to understand. Pay attention to the side with English on it next time. Hit the circuit breaker; pulled off the side panel and turned the comp on it's side. 10 minutes later the cooler was installed. Once again people, read the directions. No need to pull the MB for an AMD setup. Powered up and entered BIOS. I let the comp sit for a few minutes and the temp was down to 28C from the 54C with the stock cooler. 48 hours later after constant burning the temp was down to 23C. I don't understand how people can rate this low. Pay attention!

Rating + 3 OK COOLER BUT BETTER OUT THERE

Pros: High craftsmanship, cool looking, keeps my Q9550 running at 3.8gh at 42 C idle and about 55 C when gaming.

Cons: overpriced and better products exist from competition like the Thermalright Ultra 120

Rating + 5 Worth every penny

Pros: Upgraded my qx6700 @3.6ghz from a dualorb to this. Droped the temps and is perfect and stable temps below 65c at full load.

Cons: The Green LED's but that is just because everything else in my case is red. Thermal compound sucks but arctic silver makes it all better.

Other Thoughts: The second best cooler I have ever used. the best is the CoolerMaster V10 but best for the price.

Rating + 5 Great cooler... but clip broke (update)

Pros: Excellent cooler.

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my previous review. I installed this cooler more than three years ago. Then, a couple of weeks ago, the clip decided to break.
I contacted Zalman USA and they replaced the broken clip, at no cost. Got the clip in the mail two days after my call. Excellent tech support.

Rating + 5 Cool and Quiet

Pros: Attractive.

Can be mounted horizontally or vertically, so works with popular server configurations as well as regular desktop configs.

Good looking.

Very, very quiet.

Probably the easiest to use AMD spring clip out there.

Very good mirror finish on mating surface.

Cons: Instructions are terrible to read but the pictures are good.

A tad on the heavy side.

Other Thoughts: Just another good Zalman product.

Pros: Pairing this cooler with an Antec case that has a Big Boy exhaust fan at the top isn't really indicative of what everyone will experience, but my i7 975 hasn't even broken 40C, even under some heavy gaming load. I mostly play games that run on the Source engine and these games really put your CPU to task. Even after some crazy Left 4 Dead mobs and finales, the CPU wasn't even breaking a sweat. 38C is as high as I've seen my CPU temp go. It idles at 28C. With the case's side door pulled off, it will idle as low as 24C.

A 10C variance between idle and load, not to mention that the range is incredibly low, is quite good. I've used this cooler on my old rig and was so satisfied that I decided to go with it again for this i7 build. The old cooler was on a hot and power hungry x2 6000+. The cooler didn't have as good of a case, as it was in a RAIDMAX Smilodon, but the ranges on that CPU were from 35C idle to 49C under gaming load.

On top of both CPUs, this cooler satisfies.

Cons: Noise isn't anywhere near important to me, but I know it's a deal breaker for others, so I'm gonna mention this...but even with the Big Boy fan and the front two intake fans, and the rear exhaust fan in this Antec 902 running at full speed, you can still hear the cooler's fan as it spins up, making it the loudest fan in the case. The performance of the fan, however, more than justifies what is still a relatively quiet noise.

To be fair, even with all those other fans at full speed, they still run incredibly quiet. It's amazing, actually. So the Zalman isn't *that* loud. I game with some good cans, so...meh.

There's another con-but-not-really-a-con, but it's actually with the mounting bracket when used in combination with EVGA x58 boards. It's an odd problem, but check out my review of that actual mounting bracket here on Newegg. The review is for N82E16835118045. It's not Zalman's fault, but it's something you need to be aware of. If I had room to add it here, I would.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned, I had used this fan in another build and was so satisfied that I decided to let Zalman take care of my new build. If this cooler is supported for future sockets beyond LGA-1366, I'll buy a new one every time.

What else can I say? I'm a satisfied Zalman customer. Keep in mind my biased opinion as I've exclusively used Zalman coolers for the past 4 years now. I have no way to compare it to other CPU coolers because my mouse cursor never seems to click on any other manufacturer.

I wish I could also give feedback on Zalman support, but I've never needed to use it.

A++, would buy again!!1!

Rating + 5 Great Cooler... But Clip Broke

Pros: Great cooler. Has worked perfectly for almost three years.

Cons: The retainer clip broke a few days ago. Well, the cooler lasted for almost 3 years. The clip failed at a narrow point in the neck. The use of a little more material would most likely have precluded this stress failure.

Other Thoughts: I have built two system units using the Zalman 9700 cooler. They are great units, well made, etc. I have used this unit to cool an AMD Opteron processor (socket AM2). As noted above, it has performed this task flawlessly for nearly 3 years. But, with a broken clip, the cooler no longer can cool. Well, 3 years is a lifetime in the PC world.

Rating + 5 love it

Pros: where to begin? great craftsmanship, beautiful to look at, eerie green light seeping from between needle thin rows of polished chrome teeth like the drooling maw of a toxic cyborg, i absolutely adore it. but lets get down to brass taxes: i am really impressed with the cooling that this unit provides. i was previously using the ac freezer64 and my idle temps on my phenom 955 never dipped below 30c, load could get up to 55-60. but right off the bat with the 9700 my idles were 26c, then after an hour of crysis @max it was 46c. i honestly wasn't expecting that good of an improvement and i am pretty floored.

Cons: i can hear the fan. i'll live, but it is a drag to not be running silent.

Other Thoughts: i have it positioned vertically blowing up and out of my top fan with a side mounted fan directly below it blowing into the case at my video card, i wasn't sure if the configuration would work since the hot air from the video would be going through the cpu cooler but my temps are telling me it was the right thing to do.

Rating + 5 Nice and Quiet, but LARGE

Pros: This is a heavy duty heatsink/CPU fan, no doubt about it. Easy to install, feels very durable, barely notice the sound (on startup it's a bit loud, but that subsides). Green LED lighting sure does look pretty in the case. I left my PC idle for 45 minutes with this running and the CPU temp was never above 30 °C. Manual is written well. Overall, good unit, worth the money for users who put big demand on their CPU (gamers/graphics rendering/etc). Very happy with the purchase, no compatibility issues, ran fine, easy connections. Would buy this product for next build, seems like a no-brainer.

Cons: The only one I can think of is that it's a HUGE BEAST. This was my first build and I had a little bit of a problem connecting the 4-pin power supply to the motherboard after I mounted it in the case. My hands wouldn't fit between the heatsink and the back/top of the case very easily. This of couse is not really a fault of the fan itself, but worthy of mentioning. Might want to plug in the 4-pin before mounting the MoBo to the case.

Rating + 4 Nice and Cool, but not really Ultra Quiet

Pros: Using the ECS BLACK SERIES X58B-A with Core i7 920 @ 3.6GHz (180 x 20 @1.250V) with Core Temps 39C-44C Idle to 75-78C at Full Load with the ZALMAN CNPS 9700. Couldn't overclock higher, but with Vcore at 1.5V at same settings at Full Load reached 95C.

Stock core temps at 2.67GHz was 32C.

Cons: I've had less expensive and quieter CPU coolers that cooled better or just as well.

Other Thoughts: A little tough getting on with the 1366 clip support, but hold nicely once on.

Pros: 31 C under full load!

Cons: I installed this while the motherboard was out which made it incredibly easy, but that made it incredibly hard to plug in the CPU power because my hands are too big haha

Other Thoughts: Its huge, you wouldn't think so from the pictures, but it is. I didn't pay any attention when I bought it, but the fan glows green! First LED fan.

Rating + 5 good looking and it works great

Pros: Keeps my 955 at 44C at full power. Can run any game and not have it go over 44C.

Easy install. Multiple mount kit is simple and easy to understand.

Very quiet. I can hardly hear it running.

Looks good. Well built. Stout but not real heavy.

Cons: It would be nice to be able to change the LED color. Green is OK, but I am sure that there are folks with a different color scheme in their box.

Why is it that instructions are always printed in 3 point size?

Hey companies out there.......many of us are older and our eyesight isn't what it used to be. Even if I was Superman, I would still need a magnifying glass to read the instructions on this thing.

Don't drop it. The fins are pretty strong, but if you drop it, you will spend lots of time trying to straighten the fins out.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a cheaper way to cool your CPU, this is the answer.

I was looking at water cooling, but the price and upkeep of a water system is just not worth it to me.

Best alternative to water cooling and the best CPU air cooler I have used so far.

Rating + 5 AWESOME!!!! SWEET!!!! AMAZING!!!!

Pros: This CPU cooler is insanely well thought out and works amazingly well. Im running an Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 for my HTPC/ Web Browsing rig. I have the it OC'ed to 3.8ghz and this cooler keeps its 28c Idle and 40c 10 hours of prime 95 I have screenshots. LOL. The way this thing is designed nothing short of spectacular. It has lots of heat dissipation area unlike some other "TOWER" style cooler. And the fan is run from a 4pin PWM (Pulse with Modulation) Motherboard connector. All I know it I will be recommendring this to lots of friends.

Cons: JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BIG ENOUGH CASE THIS THING IS HUGE.

Other Thoughts: HTPC/Web Browsing rig Specs:

Rating + 5 Awesome Cooler

Pros: Amazing cooler keeps the e8500 at 32-34C idle and no more than 45-50C full load on a hot day! Green LED, circular design makes it look awesome.

Cons: Installing on an Intel Socket 775 can be cumbersome. It's much easier to install while the motherboard is outside of the tower case.

Other Thoughts: Looks great in my brothers tower case with the green LED (since he went with a green theme). I have the original 9700 (blue LED, copper fins), which seems to be just as good. I can honestly say I love Zalman coolers.

Rating + 5 Rock Solid Cooler

Pros: Running a Core i7 920 at 3.7 Ghz with turbo mode enabled at 3.9 ghz. Has yet to go higher than 61C after 8 hours of prime95. POW POW!!! Idling at 22C currently. This thing is the simply amazing.

Cons: Documentation for mounting on a LGA 1366 is sparse. I had no idea if I was mounting 180 degree backwards or where it should be. Just go slow, mount the bracket, and make sure that you have the cooler square on the CPU.

Other Thoughts: Runs reasonably quiet. Fits perfectly in an Antec 300. Keeps things at a good temp unless you are just overclocking stupid.

Pros: have always lowered temps and for AMD simple clip on

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It does not matter if their is a 3 or 4 pin cpu connection on motherboard as it works with either. Most bios have several ways of setting up cpu fan. Most mother boards come with an inside the OS control. If it does not several after market free cpu apps are available. I have used this type of cooler on 16 different computers without a problem.

Rating + 5 Great cpu cooler

Pros: Great heat distribution due to the massive fins and heat pipes. Nice color. Easy to install once I stared at the manual for 20 min and saw there was an extra clip for the other side.

Cons: When its installed on the cpu you can spin it from side to side, it concerned me at first, but now I just dont care. Also, I almost cut my hand off on the razor sharp fins.

Sits very close to the memory banks on the ASUS M4A78T-E mb.

Other Thoughts: Could be used for self defense purposes due to the razor sharp fins, you have been warned.

Rating + 4 Stress!

Pros: Q9450 on a 780i with a stock heatsink: 50C/idle, 60C/stressed

Q9450 on a 780i with this heatsink: 24C/idle, 40C/stressed.

Lots of room for overclocking it looks like, I'm stoked.

Cons: Alright, so just upgraded my mobo and my heatsink, right? I'm not lying here, the directions on the mobo were much easier to understand than the instructions provided by Zalman. I was seriously stressing so super hard and I know I didn't put it in right. With a decent amount of pressure, I can turn it about 10 - 20 degrees scaring the heck out of me due to the thermal compound.

Other Thoughts: Basically, it performs as a great product but I had difficulty installing it. Then again, prior to tonight, the only hardware upgrades I've ever done was a gpu or ram which.. doesn't even compare. Only reason I am saying Zalman provided poor instructions was because EVGA provided great instructions on a more indepth piece of hardware.

Rating + 5 Good product

Pros: Easy install, temp lower about 12C than stock cooler that came with my AMD Athlon6000(right after install, might get better over couple of days), looking pretty good in Antec 902 case. I first thought that I am not gonna like the LED color difference(case fans are blue and this fan is green) but now I like it a lot a so do my friends. Fits perfectly and even helped to cool down my north-bridge and memory sticks by creating better air flow in the case. The stock fan was just blowing the hot air from the CPU all over the case.

Cons: Should come with the CPU as stock, lol,,just a joke.

Other Thoughts: Very fast shipping. One day I clicked to buy and next day it was sitting on my porch.

Pros: Very efficient cooler. I don't think I've seen my Q9550 hotter than 120F even at full load. I bought this because my 9700Cu worked well on my Q6600 too.

Cons: Large! I needed to move my harddrives to the 3.5" bays because the cooler occupies the same space as the removable HDD rack in my case. Not a big deal, but space is a definitely factor when mounting this monster in your case.

Other Thoughts: As one reviewer stated, it needs a 4-pin connector on the motherboard, fortunately my Asus P5Q SE does.

Rating + 5 A little bit of fiddling required

Pros: This fan dropped the temperature on my Phenom II 3.0ghz quad core to around 38~ degrees celcius idle. I didn't have any artic silver on me at the time of installation so I used the thermal grease supplied with the fan. I can probably expect another 2-3 degrees drop once I do apply it unless the grease zalman issued happens to be on par.

If you are running an antec 900 or a case with somewhat loud fans, you won't hear the zalman at all. It's very quiet, cools efficiently, and very well worth the price. Although there are better heatsink/fan combos out there for purchase, if you are attempting a simple-modest overclock, this fan will do just fine.

Cons: 1. Somewhat tricky to install.

If you are attempting to mount this on a phenom II socket, don't be stubborn/lazy. Remove any bulky video cards or memory sticks that are in close vicinity to the processor and you will have a much easier time getting the zalman on.

You will need the extra room to apply the clip and avoid cutting your fingers on the sharp fins.

Other Thoughts: The fan is a lot larger than I expected. Those with mini atx cases will probably not be able to fit it. If you are using a motherboard that has its memory slots very close to the processor, you might have to shift your memory sticks over a slot or two to keep the fins from touching. Make sure you measure out the dimensions listed on the product specifications and compare it to your motherboard; I had a friend who bought the same fan and had to remove a stick of memory because both could not fit without rubbing against one another.

Pros: My CPU has yet to go over 37*C. Reasonably quiet for such a large product.

Cons: Almost didn't fit in my standard ATX case. And i don't know if this is just my computer, or if they all do this, but the fan starts hitting the heatsink if you lower the fan speed to about 90% or less.

Other Thoughts: Great fan, just wish it didn't need to always be at 100%

Pros: Very nice quality CPU cooler. Easy installation unlike the stock intel heatsink. The third party coolers are much easier to install and I just don't understand why intel doesn't follow the same design rather than that push pin mess. At idle, I get 16-19 degrees Celcius....each core in the low to mid 30's with a Quad core Q9550 according to CPUID Hardware Monitor.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Newegg is great as always

Rating + 5 Great Product!

Pros: This heatsink fan keeps my I7 920 running very cool! These chips run hot anyway and I would recommend this product for anyone running I7.

Very easy to install with the 1366 bracket. Make sure that you have a long phillips screw driver

Pros: LOVE the green LED's.
The cooling is great.
2nd to water cooling, if you dont feel like having the hassles of liquid.

Cons: installation on my GA790X-UD4P was Weird. Luckily, i have the cooler master Storm Scout, and the top fan worked well. (the cpu cooler points down, but pulls air to the top)

Other Thoughts: one of the only green LED CPU coolers out there, if youve got a color scheme, you cant go wrong with this one.

Rating + 4 Great Heatsink

Pros: Works great on my overclocked AMD Phenom II 955. Normal run temp dropped more than 5 degrees, from 45-48c average to 38-40c. Under full load, this thing shined never letting the CPU get even close to it's upper limit. Per the manufacturer notes optimum performance isn't achieved until after a few days of running, so I can only expect better stats.

Cons: included directions were less than clear about how to hook it up to AM3 style socket. The only other con is the clip was a pain to install. But once it was all sorted out and installed, it worked flawlessly.

Other Thoughts: This thing is big! Make sure to do some measurements before buying. Ran AMD overdrive stability test and couldn't get temp above 48c (no a/c, ambient room temp 23-25c). This is a great improvement as I could not get stability test to run longer than a few minutes with stock cooler. This will go on ALL my future builds.

Pros: cool led, cools cpu, getting ready to begin overclocking my phenom II 720 soon to see how well this thing can take the pressure

Cons: sorta makes my computer sounds like someone is using a vacuum in the room across from mine, but i dont mind, droning helps me sleep, but it might be a con for others

Other Thoughts: its a lot bigger than i thought... although it fits in the raidmax smilodon case perfectly fine i cant use the foldout sides anymore cause itd scrape my psu..

Rating + 4 Good, but...

Pros: Keeps system cool, C2D E8500 in Antec 900 all fans high running CPU at 26-28c IDLE. Again, temps will drop when my AS-5 cures.

Cons: When unit arrived and I mounted it, the fan's mount seemed to be bent/malalligned. The fan blade would touch the actual heatsink and make a very loud sound. I had to bend the actual metal fan mount to prevent the fan blades from hitting the heatsink.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great unit; have not heard of others having my problem, so don't worry it's a great product.

Rating + 5 Great Fan

Pros: My case is pretty small, so I was worried about heat problems. This fan does the job well, though. More than worth the money for it. CPU temps are normal, and the green LED is always a bonus. Quiet, too!

Cons: None.

Rating + 1 Would be nice if it worked

Pros: For the few minutes my computer was on, temp remained relatively cool

Cons: The fan doesn't work. I noticed it looked like it was trying to spin, but couldn't, and kept making a feeble sound every time it tried. Looks like the fan's off-center since if I pull the fins away a little, it spins just fine. Unfortunately, as is, it is useless.

Other Thoughts: Looks like I'm going to have an annoying RMA.

Rating + 4 Runs Too LOUD!

Pros: Great fan, works perfect for more then a year. Very easy installation! Much better then the origina intel bridge-pin tight down one, which bends the MB... This one is a very good solution for tat! Made very well, had lots of experiense moving this fan around to different MBs, never had any problems...

Cons: Runs TOO LOUD with my thermaltake "shark" full tower case with opened-meshed side door... I tried to lower the RPMs usin BIOS, but even after I set it to the "silent" mode, it still gives me 1,200-1,500 RPM,which is pritty notisable! I really want to make my computer as quiet as possible, so I guess I have to look for something else...

Other Thoughts: I overclocked my Q9650 to 4.0MHz and this fan takes it pritty easy! Only that I had to lower it to 3.6MHz to make it a little quieter lowering it's RPMs... Wish they had this fan with blue LED!

Rating + 5 Newegg Please Include Blue LED Variant!

Pros: I am actually running the BLUE LED version on my Q9650. Average temp is in the low to mid 30's idle and never above mid 50s peaked. It fits very well in my Antec 900 case and compliments the blue theme I have going.Read.asp?idx=164

Cons: None found. Installation can be a bit challenging to some but see other thoughts for an easier explanation than the included manual.

Other Thoughts: I wish Newegg will include the blue LED version so everyone else can share what I've got as well. Here's the link for it:

Also on that page, notice the "How To Install" button. Click that and you'll get a nice Flash video which IMO is better than the manual.

Pros: Extremely good CPU cooler. Very quiet considering its size. Keeps my cpu temp to about 38*c idle and about 44*c under load. Not bad. Would buy again, but Im going liquid cooling next build.

Rating + 2 Messed Up

Pros: Keeps everything quite cool.

Cons: The fan's alignment with the heatsink is off. The fan tends to hit the heatsink as it spins, making a HUGE amount of noise. I can open up the case, stop the fan, and pull it away from the heatsink, and this usually fixes the problem. However, if someone jumps up and down near the computer, it starts making loud noises again.

Other Thoughts: RMA?
Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Customer,

Pros: This thing is a beast that is keeping my phenom 2 below 40c and staying super quiet! Fits very well into the antec 900 and the green leds look really cool.

Cons: Hard to install. The instructions were confusing but with enough staring at the picture in the manual I finally figured it out.

Other Thoughts: If anyone says that this cooler is loud they must have a faulty product because mine is sooo quiet! Also the fins are not that sharp i don't get how people are cutting themselves on this thing. :)

Pros: Installed this cooler on a gigabyte fxt ud5p mobo, on a phenom 2 955 3.2ghz, in an antec 1200 case. took about 15 minutes from opening the case to closing it back up. Initial drop of about 13c, now idling around 37c. After 3 hour prime95 session, load was about 55c. not bad for a quad core.
I like the little bottle of thermal grease they included, i just wish it was filled with arctic silver 5 instead of zalman grease.
overall, worth the money in my opinion.

Cons: a teeny tiny bit loose for my tastes, but still pretty snug. also, who the hell wants a green led? i knew this going into the purchase, as my case has all blue leds. still, green? really?

Other Thoughts: i think that everyone that writes a review on newegg should try to include their system specs if possible. when im shopping for new stuff, i often start by reading the reviews on newegg. 90% of cpu cooler reviews/install guides are for intel sockets, which i am proud to say i havn't owned since my old compaq 386. just laying this down for everyone, hopefully some will pick it up.

Pros: it works on older cpu's

Cons: It didnt ship with the i7 adapter. It's suppose to come with the adapter but of course it didnt so now I had to buy a new fan. I read around on the internet on this fan anyway and didnt see to much in the way of good reviews for the i7. I had one on my athlon 6000+ and it was awesome. I have returned this for a coolmaster v8 hope that is better. By the way never use new eggs rush processing it doesnt help in any way.

Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Customer,

The CNPS9700 NT is not bundled with the 1366 mounting as this product was released several years before the new i7 CPU's. However, we have released a CS4A that will allow this cooler to mount to the new socket.

Rating + 5 Cool green

Pros: I bought this during an upgrade of my Dell XPS 630 motherboard, I switched to 790i F-T-W from EVGA and figured might as well upgrade the Dell CPU cooler. Very impressed with the craftsmanship of the Zalman, very well constructed and works well in my new setup. Fits inside the XPS 630 case just fine. Keeps my CPU temps under 55 even under load playing Crysis. CPU idles in mid 40s.

Cons: Has performed exactly as expected, quiet, cool, no complaints. Love the green glow, am considering modding my side panel with a window so I can watch it.

Other Thoughts: It took a lot more pressure than I expected to get the cooler mounted. It really sits on there tightly. The thermal grease that it came with seemed fine and that's what I used.

Rating + 5 Great for keeping your cpu cool

Pros: I have an old 939 socket AMD athlon x2 4400. This dropped the temp from stock cooling by around 10 degrees. I still have it, and almost 2 years later I still love it.

Cons: On my K8N board, I could only mount it to blow up or down. I wanted to mount it to blow to the left, so the air would go directly out the case.

Other Thoughts: Get some arctic silver 5 thermal paste. Keeping your system cool is important.

Pros: Variable fan speed. Um, it's shiny....

Rating + 4 Works Well

Pros: It really is quiet and oddly enough the green led on this thing worked well to match my case.

Cons: The entire heat sink is delicate. A person needs to be careful. If not they can end up bending the fins. I had a problem with the fan bent and was sitting a little too close to the fins and ended up rubbing against each other. Which made for an entertaining noise when it was powered on. After some careful bending it was running without a problem.

Other Thoughts: Even with the trouble I had with this thing at first, I love it. With the CPU OC'd the heatsink still keeps the CPU in the mid 30's.

Rating + 5 THE Best Heatsink Available

Pros: I am running an OC'd AMD 6000 at 3.36 and it idles @34c and it maxed out @54 on burn in running prime95. At around the 3 hour mark it actually started to settle down to 52c and stayed there for another 3 hours, and kept it stable. My temps are usually around 44c when gaming or rendering. As long as you keep good air flow inside the case, this is the heat sink for overclocking.

Cons: Should have more LED color options. Blue or red are the more popular colors.

Other Thoughts: I wonder how this would perform with twin push/pull fans.

Rating + 3 Eh... I'll keep it.

Pros: Works very well at keeping my AMD 6400 x2 BE cool while OC'ed to 3.4 and under gaming load. Has a nice green light that accents the inside of my case well.

Cons: Says Ultra Quiet in the title of the product. Its not so quiet. Running the Antec 900 case and its definately loud. Could be a defective one but not worth returning it because it works well enough.

Other Thoughts: Paid extra for the Quiet. Could have gone cheaper to get the same thing without the Ultra Quiet naming and been in the same shape.
Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Customer,

You may want to try adjusting the fan controls in your BIOS. You can do this by increasing the upper bound for which the fan speed is increased. Often times motherboards provide inaccurate temperature readings, which will cause the BIOS to increase the fan speed. Please contact your motherboard manufacturer for more details. If this does not work, please fill out the RMA form on www.zalman.com and request a replacement fan.

Rating + 5 Cools very well

Pros: Had heat problems with my Asus M2N32-SLI-del with 2 vid cards with the stock processor fan. This fan did the trick (low 40s without load, 50s with). It fit the Asus well. When I did away with the 2 vid cards (long story) and used just 1, it keeps my AMD-Athlon-6400-x2 in the low 30s-C without load.
Been running 24/7 for a year and a half - no problems.
vid cards: EVGA 7600 GT

Cons: If you are in a dusty environment, the many and fairly closely spaced fins will collect dust regularly. They just need to be blown out regularly. This will make a 5 to 10 degree difference. Not much of a con, since any cooler needs cleaning regularly; And, I have 4 cats ... my bad.

Other Thoughts: Fairly quiet running, but not silent. The cool & quiet feature, though it sounds like a good idea, just makes a noticeable revving/whining sound, up and down as the temp monitor adjusts the speed. This I found more annoying than leaving it on full blast - It is just white-noise then.

Rating + 5 Mounting

Pros: For AMD, mounting is mouch better than the 775 socket. Solid construction. Has lowered temps dramatically over another well known brand.

Cons: This thing is HUGE. Someone commented about getting this to fit in a Micro case. I can only imagine it's not a true micro case. Sounds like to me it would have been a mid tower case that only accepts a micro board.

Other Thoughts: Someone also commented that this fan only faces upwards when mounted on an AMD board. That is is not true. The fan DOES blow out the rear of the case too! In fact, if you go on Zalmans website and click "how to install" It clearly shows in the AM2 tab of how to install this. I can't say anything about the instructions since I don't have them anymore.

Rating + 4 Good for a HSF

Pros: It cools my q6600 [1.375v] @ 3.4ghz | Idle: 29c | Load: 52~58c . Not bad for a HSF deal. It is quiet to me, Ive heard much louder fans before. The price here is also pretty cheap. It isn't the greatest though, there are better HSF (thermalright 120 TRU Black) but for the price, it can't be beat.
Comes with Zalman "Thermal Grease" too ... a big bottle of it, but I didnt use it

Cons: The installation (LGA775) , I thought the mounting was a little weetodid, it kinda just "places" there while you screw in two screws to hold the thing down. I used Artic S5 instead of the thermal grease, made it stickier and a tad easier I imagine. Make sure to screw the side with the fan blades down first, it will make it safer and easier to mount without breaking a fan blade. It is a huge HSF, it almost touches the side window of my Lian Li case, I actually had to remove the side panel fan, so that this would fit. The green LED's also are kinda lame, cause, what if I have all blue lights in my case, or red? Anyways, lights are lame, and now I have green heaven disco in my case. One last thing, is that it should have a 4 pin molex connector, so that you dont have to use the 4 pin mobo plug.

Other Thoughts: For the price, how well it cools, it is worth it..still the green LEDs suck, and the 4 pin to mobo ONLY power option, sucks

Rating + 4 Great Product

Pros: Cools down the CPU great! I got a 15-20' C drop compared to my AMD's stock cooler. Very quite! Can't even hear this thing! I had mine paired with Artic Silver 5 and this thing just performs.
STOCK: 49' C idle / 58' C Load (don't know if its 100%) gaming for 4 hours straight.
ZALMAN + Artic 5: 32' C idle / 42' C Max Temp (gaming for 4 hours straight)

I used CPUID's HWMonitor for temps.

Cons: with AM2(+) sockets the mount is only 1 way (luckily I have fans on the top of my case to help exhaust the air). If I did not, it would just blow hot air on the top of the case and back into the other components. It cannot be mounted to face the rear of the case (-.5 egg there...)
Green LED's??? bleh (-.5 egg there...)

Mounting was a bit tricky, this was my first ever Aftermarket CPU cooler. Kinda played with it a bit before I put the Artic 5 but once I figured it out (after 5 mins) I got it installed in 1 try.

Other Thoughts: This thing is super quite, I cannot hear the fan moving, but it is. It works fantastic, keeps temps down no matter what you do. Highly suggested!! if you have green LED's that a plus for you! but I hate the green! I wish I could turn them off.

Other Thoughts: looked a lot bigger than it actually was. when i first got the package i didnt think it would fit in my case. it went in a silverstone TJ08 micro-ATX case just fine with room to spare on most sides. a little too close to the hard drive bays so i had to get some right-angle SATA cables.

Pros: I like it helped me OC my athalon X2 2.8 GHZ to 3.3 GHZ stable. It is pretty quiet considering the rpms and cooling power.

Cons: The only reason it gets 4 eggs is because the fan controller it comes with it is faulty and and sucks. it wouldnt let me get the rpms over 1000 till I unplugged the controller and plugged the cooler into my motherboard.

Pros: I built a rig as a primary trading computer with 6 monitors with a Dual Core E6850 Intel processor on a EVGA 780i board and 3 GeForce 8600 video cards in March of last year. I used an Apevia X-Cruiser mid-tower case for this. Speedfan indicated temperatures of 60 C on the processor at full load which was very high and the machine would freeze and shut down if I did not have the side panel open with a fan blowing into it. I bought a Zalman 9700 and installed it and the CPU temperature went down to 50 C at full load with the side panel closed.

Cons: Installing the Zalman is a bit of a pain. One has to remove the entire Mobo and install a backplate. On my 780i there are a couple of resistors that come in the way so I had to cut out a small part of the backplate bottom to make sure there was no pressure being put on the resistors. On the Apevia I also had to take out the side funnel in order to install this. Installation is a pain but the CPU cooler work well.

Rating + 5 Wicked cooling

Pros: BIOS has my e8400 @3.6GHz idling at 26C. Realtemp via prime95 10 min test (99.8% load) only moves 3C. Ambient temperature is around 23C. I will test this more with longer prime95 tests and higher frequency/voltage. So far it looks very promising--4.0GHz will be an automatic.

The f/hs seats very firm against the cpu--reviews that say otherwise may not have tightened enough.

One review said that there was lateral freedom during the installation, and I agree. To elaborate, after putting the arctic 5 silver on per the AC website's directions (thin vertical line in same direction as print on cpu) and placing the zalman cooler on top, I had to move it in order to line up screws. I was worried about this messing up the thermal paste, but this did not happen.

Cons: Heavy. However, the spring tension mount is actually very secure. It took a bit of force to get the second screw down but that made me feel better in the end.

Large. I have a full tower Thermaltake armor and I measured out 7/10in clearance from the side fan before I bought f/hs. That was a conservative estimate, looks to be closer to an inch.

Noise. This particular unit has 4pin power (the LED orange version) does not. However, currently I have it set to 2800 rpm 100% duty cycle, and do not find the noise a problem, probably because my GPU is not quiet.

Installation. Depends on your attitude. If you want to get an aftermarket cooler in quickly, then opt for like an AC snap pin model. Just know that they are cheap and many times do not fair well after removal, even by careful hand. If you have a few hours to spare and don't mind removing your motherboard, go for it.

Other Thoughts: At some point I have to wonder when CPU temp no longer becomes the limiting factor in OCing. I read an interesting article about how someone was overclocking (with an core 2 extreme) to a high voltage on an GA-P35-DS3L and it actually melted the 4pin power cable to the motherboard.

"Is it worth the $50?" This is what really held me back for the longest time after I built this a while ago, and the answer is definitely. It made for a fun few hours, and its always fun to see if everything works after pressing the power button.

***Note ***
In the instruction manual it suggests changing your fan settings to PWM in your BIOS. If you have it on AUTO, it may not start when booting up. My particular motherboard has the motherboard control (i.e. 4th pin function) as a separate feature, and then AUTO/PWM/VOLTAGE for other options. The reason for this, I think, is that the motherboard simply cannot deliver enough power on startup to the fan under this particular control setting.

Rating + 5 Great Heatsink

Pros: Just bought this Heatsink looking to improve my CPU Temperature and did it ever. I Went from Stock Idle around 27-30 Celsius to 13-15 Celsius. The Fan is a little bit BIG so you have to have either a Mid-Size Tower or Larger to fit it. I currently have the CoolerMaster CM690 and it fits just fine in it. The Cooler itself is Accompanied by Green LED Lights and Recommended By Nvidia. It also has Automatic Variable Speed Control, so the Motherboard will take care of Controlling the Fan Speed. It is Designed for both the AMD Chipset (Socket 754, 939, 940, AM2+) and the Intel Chip Set (Socket 775 only) with all the necessary hardware to put it on

Cons: It's Big. Fins are Sharp. The AMD Bracket is a Pain in the Rear to put on, but once you do, it will hold it Nicely on the Motherboard Clamps.

Other Thoughts: Quality Product again made by Zalman. Cannot go Wrong with them!

Pros: Works great on my Q6600 G0.

Idle temps 16-18*C for all cores.

Cons: Will not fit in some cases due to size of the fins.

Other Thoughts: Was a pain to install but didn't take too long.

Rating + 5 Great air cool solution

Pros: Works great for air cool, I replaced a failing liquid cool system and needed something to handle minor oc capabilities. Worked well for my needs (moderate over clocking). Quiet especially on variable speed mode!

Cons: None, must stick to liquid cooling for the major overclocking!

Other Thoughts: Use Artic Silver!

Rating + 4 Looks Great!

Pros: Looks Great on my antec 900 case! Fit my EVGA 790i Ultra with no problem.

Cons: Keeps my Q9650 at 35C same as the Freezer 7 Pro. Louder than the Freezer 7 pro.

Other Thoughts: Took me an hour to install because i was trying to put both clips! Bended and hammered the clip on clip. It wasnt until i read the instructions twice that i noticed you only need the screw on clip for intels and the clip on one is only for amd.

Rating + 4 Does a good job!

Pros: Brackets and backplate installed perfectly on my gigabyte ep45-ud3p. I bought this HSF for the purposes of moderate overclocking, and at 3.4 GHZ it keeps all temps below 64 deg C at ~100% load with Prime95 (smallFFT) stress/heat testing after a few weeks of burn-in. Idle temps (with C1E off) are between 31-43 deg C. (I have a rogue core0 temp)
Fan is really quiet at idle, but is very noticeable at highest setting under stress testing. However, with normal use it has never needed to go that high.

Cons: I had relatively high expectations for this HSF considering the reviews I had read. It does really well for moderate OC'ing, but for the price I might think twice next time around for a few reasons. First, this thing is really hard to install due to the force needed to push the mounting clip down while aligning the screws to catch the threads on the bracket. Requires alot of patience to install. Also, the mounting clip only provides downward pressure on the CPU and does very little to prevent rotation of the HSF. This may be of concern to someone who transports their system frequently.

Other Thoughts: I did not use the included thermal paste. Instead I went with Artic Silver 5 which I already had from a previous computer repair.

NOTE: If you have a removable MB tray in your case, install this on the motherboard before mounting on the tray. If you don't, the location of the mounting screws (pillars) and the force needed to lock this thing down will cause your MB to flex too much for comfort. Of course I speak from experience, but was able to catch my error before completing the job.

My build:

-Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P

Rating + 3 Hard to install

Pros: Cools AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb just fine.

Cons: Not impossible, but hard to install - requiring a lot of force to latch on a GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-DS4H AM2+/AM2 AMD MB and AMD Phenom II x4 940. I took two eggs off because you shouldn't have to wrestle installation of a cooling fan!

Other Thoughts: Why can't more manufacturers come up with a zero (or near zero)-force latch to attach a cooling fan? The factory fan included with the CPU has a simple cam latch. Maybe I should have saved a few bucks and stayed with the factory fan... :-(

Rating + 4 Nice..

Pros: Effective cooling. Decent price for what you get. Zalman quality. The thermal grease is easy to apply and works well. Decided to use AS Ceramique on a few and seems to cool a bit better, but harder to apply. PITA to install on an AMD board, but fairly easy on an Intel (It's easier to get a screwdriver between this and my NB heatsink than it is your hands)! Good airflow pointing right out of my case. I bought 3!

Cons: Knocked off an egg because although the cooling is more effective than stock cooling, it is still not quite up to par as some other aftermarket coolers I have used.
Still highly recommended, unless you plan on aggressive overclocking.

Other Thoughts: Got this along with a Raidmax Smilodon extreme black (green light accents) case and a mushkin PSU (you can't tell from pics, but mushkins have green leds inside). Topped it off with some green LED Silenx (80mm) and Antec (120mm) case fans. Beautiful system inside and out, and this cooler adds a perfect effect.

Rating + 5 Silenced my computer!

Pros: Nearly silent on lowest fan setting! And the lowest fan setting should work for most people since the heatsink on this guy is HUGE! I was happy to see it fit in my case... that big.

Now I am enjoying near silence. This was the missing piece to my puzzle as all my other computer fans (PSU, GPU, Case Fan) were quiet. I can actually hear what they are saying TV now! Turned my hurricane into paradise!

Cons: Really freaking big and expensive. Not the easiest to install but doable.

Rating + 5 Instant drop to 21c @ idle.

Pros: Installed without interfearance of other items.
Dropped temp. from 32c @ idle (Stock Cooler/AMD X3 720) to 21c... nice.
Comes with Thermal grease.
Moves a lot of air.
Quieter than the stock cooler.

Cons: None yet.
No see through glass on my case, have to remove cover to show... no forehead prints to clean...lol

Other Thoughts: It looks great with a nice Green glow.
Very attractive design, seems also effective for cooling.
Draws air across my memory, top of video card and exhausts towards back, good extra air flow.
Be sure you use 4 pin. 2 pin is 9700 Led model.

Rating + 1 Worse than stock cooler on i7 920

Pros: Looks nice (?)

Cons: This fan is extremely ineffective at cooling a Core i7 920 with the additional adapter purchased. Temps were higher at every core speed than the i7's STOCK HSF. I couldn't get rid of this unit fast enough.

Other Thoughts: Reviewed by experienced system builder & IT Consultant. I replaced with the 9900 unit and saw a DRASTIC improvement. Very pleased.

Cons: took some time to figure out how the clips work, but once you figure it out it locks down real tight

Pros: Quiet and efficient, as long as you have enough case fans to keep the ambient temperature reasonable.

Cons: A little on the loud side if you force it to run at 100%, but you shouldn't have to.

Rating + 5 AMD 9950 -15c DROP

Pros: The moment I installed it my temperatures dropped from 60c idle to 36c (average) idle. On load they are currently 44c. Note: This is inside a full tower case with decent amount of airflow.

Cons: Did not come with my evga gtx 285 :(

Other Thoughts: The temperatures I monitord is NOT after the 200 hour curing process. I used Artic Silver 5 for my compound.

Rating + 5 Great cooler!

Pros: It works as advertised, keeps the temps cool while being quiet. I have this on a Phenom II 920 @3.3GHz and slightly overvolted, and it never gets above 45C even under Folding. It comes with a polished base and is quite easy to install, assuming your case is large enough. Its height allowed me to avoid contact other components on the motherboard.

Cons: It doesn't have to spin full speed often, but can be a tad bit loud when it does. Also I had fan clearance issues when I first got it, so the fan would hit the fins and make a really loud sound, but after mounting it to exhaust vertically, the problem has been averted.

Other Thoughts: If you have a large top exhaust fan (e.g. the Antec 900), it works much better if you have the airflow of the heatsink go out the top instead of the back (which the manual tells you to do).

Rating + 3 Quiet CPU Cooler

Pros: It is a very quiet CPU Cooler that is barely audible. Compared to similar products, the pricing is very good.

Cons: I recently purchased a Core i7 965 and paired it with this heatsink. While very quiet, I worry about the temperatures (avg. 106 degrees farenheit) that the CPU is reaching. I must note, however, that Intel's Control Center software shows that it is at a 'happy medium' or 'in the green.'

Other Thoughts: Though maybe not the best buy for the Core i7 965, I would readily recommend it for other CPUs.

Rating + 4 Not Bad At All

Pros: Allows the CPU to run at greater speed while keeping the heat in check. With AMD, I didn't have to remove my MB to install. It is designed and positioned in such a way that helps the outtake fan drive air out the case.

Cons: "Ultra Quiet?" Not sure about that; at least not when the CPU is at full load (unsurprised). Free shipping would not hurt...

Other Thoughts: And yes, be careful handling this unit. It will cut you. I am using the thermal compound included in the package. I will test it for a little while and then try arctic silver to compare the two.

The green led overpowered my blue case led-gives it a nice flavor now though.

Rating + 5 Overclocker phenom

Pros: Slapped this baby on my Phenom II clocked at 3.5 GHz and keeps it 1 degree below ambient temperature. Amazing. As an example, it was 20*C in my room and the cores were at roughly 19*C. Spectacular results, it works. thermal paste seemed good, installation was fairly easy.

Cons: not a con for me but for someone with a small case, this could be a problem. fits in an antec 900 with side fan installed, although it wouldn't if the cpu socket was directly under the side fan. It would still fit without the side fan then.

Other Thoughts: my mobo, M3A78 has the socket high on the board so it's right under the 200mm fan and blows directly out the 120 in the back

Rating + 3 Not quiet. There are better coolers out there.

Pros: No too big. It fit very well in my case. Installation was easy, although I was concerned about how the cooler is allowed to shift around and rotate while clamped in place. It worked pretty well without overclocking and looked impressive.

Cons: I found this cooler to be much louder than I expected it to be, especially for its claim to be very silent. I have owned many Zalman VGA coolers that were absolutely silent. This was not the case with this CPU cooler. Whenever it cranked up to over about 50% fan speed(which it did quite frequently), it became very audible. I also found that it did not cool as well as I had hoped. My CPU temps on a decent overclock were almost always 150 F (65C) with poor stability. The fan was close to 100% most of the time.

Other Thoughts: I tried this cooler on both a Dual Core and a Quad Core Intel CPU on an eVGA 780i board. The results were about the same. I have a Cooler Master ATCS 840 case. It's about as big as they come, and is an incredibly cool case. I have used both Arctic Silver and the stock Zalman thermal grease on the heatsink in appropriate quantities. I mention all this because many peoples' woes with CPU coolers stem simply from poor intallation techniques (too much thermal grease, inadequate clampage onto the CPU, a poorly cooled case, etc.). This leads me to believe that I have given the 9700 a very fair chance. It just did not work for me as a good overclocking cooler. Even on stock settings, it did not cool the CPU as much as I had expected it to, and was still too loud. I am now running a Cooler Master V10 on my Q9550 Quad Core with far better results. My CPU is at 4.00Ghz at an average temperature of 125F (55C) on decent load. I am much more pleased.

Rating + 2 NOT ultra quiet

Pros: Sexy circular heatsink design. Cools as advertised.

Cons: Very noisy compared to Noctua. The fan makes a huge amount of noise at full RPM, but even at throttled speeds, it substantially exceeds the noise of my P182 case fans on low.

Other Thoughts: Get the Noctua one instead - quieter by a lot.

Rating + 4 Pretty good

Pros: Big, cool green LED looks great in an antec 1200 with the blue LED fans it comes with. Keeps my Q9400 45nm CPU overclocked to 3.6 GHZ at 30 deg celsius on idle and 60 deg celsius under load with IntelBurn Test.

Cons: The fan makes a low grinding / buzzing sound. At first I was so annoyed that I was tempted to RMA. But after putting everything in my antec 1200 and putting the side panel on, I can barely hear it over the case fans.

Other Thoughts: Great cooler, but a little pricey for a cooler with a buzzing fan. Seems like they would have caught that during manufacturing and testing.

Pros: This cooler is absolutely amazing. I've had it installed for little under a week now and it runs great. I'm running an Intel Core 2 Duo 8500 processor. My processor is overclocked at 4ghz and the idle temp. with the stock fan was 45 degrees. With this new fan my idle temp. is at 24 degrees.

Cons: None really, other than I just purchased this fan for 89.99 last week and it's now down to 69.99

Other Thoughts: Would buy this fan again over and over.

Pros: |

Other Thoughts: A 4 pin fan works just fine on a 3 pin motherboard. If the 3 pin slot on the motherboard is not completely shrouded with a plastic border (which I have never seen) , buy this product. The only downside (not really a downside) is that you wont have the PWM function that automatically changes fan speed according to cpu temp. This is not a big deal since this product will keep your CPU cool enough even at its lowest rpm.

Pros: Cools my Phenom 2 940 like a champ.

Cons: None that i can report. Oh, the thing draws blood. Be careful during install.

Other Thoughts: With the Xigmatek "typhoon" style heat sink, idle was fair at 37C. After 2 minutes in prime95 I would hit 78C and system reboot soon followed (Stock volt and clock(1.3V and 3.0gh)). This Zalman is amazing. Now I see idle below 30C and prime95 can run for hours and never hit 50C (1.5 volts and 3.7gh). I am very impressed with this coolers performance.

Rating + 5 Great for passive cooling, apparently.

Pros: Easily installed on my AM2 board without having to mess with much. Set my fan to auto adjust as needed with a 0% fan speed base. It literally only turns on when I first power up my PC. I don't care much for the blue LEDs, and they don't turn on if the fan isn't spinning. Fits fine in pretty much anything I've dealt with at this point, I've got it in an Antec Sonata, although I've installed this cooler in at least 5 different cases without issue.

Once again, this is running without the fan at all. It's in my HTPC/Gaming PC. I'm not overclocking at all, and it's exactly what I wanted out of it and exactly what I expected.

Cons: It's really big. Won't fit in smaller cases, at least if you want your side panel on. Since this isn't a concern for most people looking for cooling of this level, this isn't so much a "con" as it is a consideration if you want to cram it into some half-height case.

Other Thoughts: So far so good. Had it almost a year with no issues, running cool and quiet. Keeps my temeratures low with literally zero noise. The 120mm case fan in the rear is the only thing I have going and it's on low. Right now the only fan I can hear is on the cheapy video card I've got installed.

Rating + 5 Great Fan Batman!

Pros: I just installed this tonight and it runs great. I previously had an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro which is a nice fan also but has the cheap push pin clips that I wasn't sure were gripping as good as they should be. This fan seems to cool just as well as that one only it's much better built. Installation went smooth on my socket 775 Q9300 on an Intel DP45SG.

Cons: It is a bulky fan but that's all part of the design to take on and deal with the hottest processor temps.

Other Thoughts: I don't understand the comments that the fan is noisy because it's just about as quiet as the Freezer 7 Pro was in my Antec Sonata case maybe a bit louder. Also I didn't cut myself at all on it. It goes good with my 9800 GT with a VF900 installed on it. The green light is the coolest to. ZALMAN RULES!

Rating + 5 Similar to Water Cooling

Pros: Replaced my coolermaster aquagate water cooling kit after the pump failed with this Zalman. Was very pleased to see similar cooling performance with the Zalman. It is keeping my overclocked E6850 to 30 degC at idle and 45 degC at full load which is where it was with my water cooled setup. Great performance and no risk of leaks. No trouble installing on Asus P5N-D with Coolermaster Cosmos 1000 case.

Cons: Eyesight was too poor to read the small print instructions. I resorted to using the web instructions which were great.

Other Thoughts: No regrets ditching the water cooling.
